Morning sleepyheads...coffee and eggs for everyone?

Ruthxxx
01-04-2003, 08:42 AM
Yes, please! We ran out of eggs and are semi-snowed in and the stuff is going to keep coming for a day or so. Maybe smoked salmon and cream cheese (no bagel) for brekkie? I have been very LC the past 3 days and it shows on my glucometer!

Well, the visit went well with the puppies and we spent at least an hour just with Hershey. She really misses us and is anxious to come home. However she is still producing milk for the furry monsters and is still feeding them once a day to relieve the pressure. Can we relate, mommies? The pups are gorgeous and very friendly. I took my digital but did not get many good shots. They move around too much. Darn digital holds only 24 shots! Somehow I thought it was hundreds. I must RTFM (read the f***ing manual). When we got home, Lucy had to thoroughly vacuum our clothes for Mommy smells.

Now nobody jump on me but today I am going to the Fair Office to do some accounting. The new treasurer has been sick and still is and there is some stuff that needs doing.
I hope to be there only an hour because I need to make it to the Library too this morning.

So on with the day with Dottie's great coffee in hand.

even with Wednesday off, I am glad it's Saturday! I slept in, and got in the Leslie Sansone 3 mile all the way through, and have some coffee brewing.

Peach, it's basement day here, I'll come do yours next! I love to do that kind of cleaning, it feels so good to have it done! And I need to do the filing and tax prep stuff. I traditionally do a family budget and review of last years finances around Jan 1st, so I am going to play with that today.

My SIL is stable, getting weaker, and sleeping more, but still strong in her voice and mind. She is bossing us all around, and micro-managing every detail of daily life (did you baste the turkey again? don't forget to put the blue tablecloth on in the dining room!). She is bedridden, but is still in control of the rest of us, and we're all laughing and shaking our heads(with love) at how great she is doing. There's a very calm and peaceful feeling at the house, and everyone is united in helping her have things the way she wants them. No death has ever been this organized! But it is her faith that lets her be at peace, and she had time to adjust somewhat. And she is not in any pain, just tired.

I have some shopping to do-return somthing from Christmas, and get a baby gift for my secretary. Maybe some shrimp for dinner? DH decided he wants shrimp for his protein at lunch from now on. :dizzy: My sister served huge cocktail shrimp on Christmas, and he wants those everyday. :( He brings a salad with turkey or chicken breast and lots of veggies now. Well, I said, if you want to work nights to pay for this, be my guest. But I am not spending $40 a week on shrimp! :nono: But I'll make it for dinner more as a treat, I guess. He is a trip.

What else? I guess I'll hit the shower, and get some breakfast into me. I'll start a weekend menu/challenge update thread before I go, and see how we're doing!

see you later,
dottie

hi Ruth, you sneaked in on me!

Good morning!

I wish we could see the puppies ruth. I will be getting my new camera in a few days. It is all about the size of the picture and the size of the memory card.

Kids are already bickering and we are snowed and iced in! I need out! I am going to have some breakfast ( oatbran) and then go and shovel the snow, really just for fun because the wind is blowing so hard.

DH turned me on to a new show calld the Sheild. It is great but it has been on at 10pm and 11pm on FX, I have to get back to 6:30 rise and shine. Well Monday will be do or die.

A little scrapbooking today, Just to get away from the bickering.
nice to see the board busy.

Good Morning Ladies

L- Im very much looking forward to the season premiere of the Shield!!! Definitely not a program for those who dont like programing on the edge. But I do :)

My eating is going very well, however, I do need to get somemore fibre in me!!!! Ive bumped up the broccoli, and brussel sprout intake. Bought lots of green beans yesterday, but I think I may have to turn to some psylium husk. I think thats the worst part of this diet! It works mind you, .....oh well.

Other than that, nothing very much new around here, I got over the incident yesterday.......and calmed down considerably!

Have a great day ladies

Good Morning Everyone!! Snowed in :yikes:

Ruth, wish we could see puppy pics, but I SOOOO understand about the camera thing. Finally figured out with my camera if you reduce the quality you get more pics on a card. I was emailing pics that you could get only an eye on the screen, just ask peachie, she was my pic tester via email.

dottie, I'm with hubby, I would love to have shrimp for lunch everyday. But, I WOULD need a job to have shrimp once a day. My thoughts are with you sil and family. How sad, but it sounds very peaceful.

Robin, glad you have calmed down. Guess you can't control what they sell......just make yours better and you will out sell them!!!

L, scrapbooking......always thought I would like to give that a try. I have a friend who actually teaches classes in scrapbooking...........do you think I have ever bothered to ask her for ideas.....NOOOO

Today is.......get the last few Christmas things to the basement. I have a pile of things by the steps to go down.

Off to get the day moving.

Just got to work and called and order an omlet from the diner down the street. Getting ready to go pick it up.

I bougth a "low Carb Starter Kit" from Synergy Diets, and it arrived yesterday. It's really neat. A lot of low carb foods that I'd wanted to try, but not had the nerve. What I can't wait to try and plan on having for supper is LC Hamburger buns. They look wonderful. Hope they taste as good as they looK. Also stuff like LC pancake mix and LC/sugarfree syrup, LC cornbread mix??? Lc fruit spread, pasta, bagels, salad dressing, drink mix and some other stuff I don't remember. I'll let you know how it tastes.

But the neatest thing was a really good lc cookbook. It looks like it has some really good recipies, plus it has meal plans. I'll report back on that after I try it a bit.

Well I've been OP 2 days now and already shed 4 pounds. That's enought to keep me honest. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Well, the omlet should be done by now, I'll check in later.

I think I woke up in the twilight zone, this can't really be my life. I'm making out the monthly grocery list, and DH calmly says "I think I'll try Atkins with you." WHAT??? DH who eats bread with every meal? (and between meals) DH who doesn't know what a veggie is unless it's breaded and deep fried?

I'm in shock. Aliens have abducted my hubby, I'm sure of it. I'm thinking about keeping this one though, it would make cooking simpler. It's really gonna tick me off though becuase he'll start induction and lose 20 pounds like nothing. I struggle to lose 2. Oh well, it will be interesting to see how long he's willing to give up bread and beer. Of course I won't invite him to join the board, because them we couldn't talk about him. LOL

Well, I survived last night--if any of you care about football ( I really don't--but when we go to a bowl game, first one since 1968 I tend to get a little excited!!) BUCKEYES won--in DOUBLE overtime!!:bravo: it was unbelievable!!

Anyway--was it -L who said she had her hair chemically straightened? Myhairdresser and I decided to give that a try, and I am scheduled for the end of this month--was your straightening iron expensive? She says she can get me one for 100.00 and that this one retails at 180.00--I don't know how a regular store-bouthen one would work??:yikes: but 100.00 seems like a lot of money, especially when it will probably cost around that to do my hair!!!

Ageoldie--that sounds like a pretty neat kit you got--keep us updated!

dylan--:cp: YEA!! For you and your DH--I can only pray that my husband would think of such a thing--there is no way!!!

L- I have a whole bin here I dedicate to scrapebooking--if only I could get into it more--I love the results, but I just never feel like I have the time to get it all out--I really need tostart making time.

Dottie--Bless you and your family, I pray your SIL is at peace, Do you mind my asking what her illness is? My mom has recently had a reoccurence of Breast Cancer and her being only 53 she has a good chance of beating it down again.

Well ladies, I'm still at the research point of the plan--Monday starts the real thing--I am eating and throwing away all the chips/crackers/etc that lurks in this house and hollers for me:eek: so I will get back to you all--
Have a safe and OP weekend!!

I am going to call you Miss, Too long a name :D
I bought an iron an few years back from a beauty suply store. it is a bayliss. I don't use it much any more, only when I really need it, or if I go to bed with my head wet, a few passes and I am good to go.

You want a good one. The cheep ones like the conair will not last with thich hair. The element won't get as hot and it will take FOREVER! so get something with wide plates for fast coverage. Go to a beauty suply store and put you hands on one. Chances are your hairdresser will get a better discount than you, but you can see how heavy and how it feels to use it.

Bring a book to read while you get this done. it takes about 4 hours.

many hugs for you and your family dottie... it's a tough time, to say the least.

and good luck to those of you snowed or iced in!! what a mess! i shoveled for more than an hour this morning, and got the top of the driveway done and the steps. and then gave up. but our neighbor, the one who collects BIG TOYS came over with his enormous snow blower and finished the job in 5 minutes! [we took over some cookies from a good local bakery]

and manicures, and a lobster for lunch. and my car is in the shop. maybe for life. it has at least two serious leaks [antifreeze and power steering fluid] and needs a new transmission. so, i'm using mom's car, which doesn't please her at all!!!!

am feeling somewhat better, but even i will admit that i've overdone it today. maybe i won't go to the gym as planned. i'm tired.

it's a shame shrimp are so expensive. but it does make for a nice change.

won't it be nice when hershey comes home ruth??? hope it's soon. and that your accounting [which you so charmingly tried to slip in!] doesn't last long...

will write more later or tomorrow... love to all.

oh one more thing. dyan.. is hubby thinking that this will get him an invite to joisy????? just eating differently won't make him one of the girls!!!!!!

Ruthie we all know that you secretly love accounting and you were just hoping that you'd be called upon to fill in. Come on, fess up. As for the camera, I too have a problem with not fitting many on the "smart card". One has to lower the resolution (quality) of the photo to get more on, I believe and the difference in the photos is really negligible.
Dottie I think what you're doing for your SIL is so wonderful. It's a shame that she's in such a bad way but how comforting to be among loved ones and still have input into what's going on in the home.
Today I went out shopping and lunch with a friend. Just as we got into the mall parking lot the skies opened up and we got absolutely soaked to the skin. At Liquidation World I found queen sized sheet sets on sale for less than $40 (which is good for Canada). They are 250 thread count even though not pure cotton which I would have preferred but not complaining. At Zellers, I found a new round tablecloth for my kitchen table. It's hard to find round tablecloths, especially in vinyl that doesn't look like vinyl. This is a Martha Stewart lace-look and I'm really pleased with the effect. We had lunch in Zellers which is not generally considered low carb but I had a bbq chicken thigh and leg and asked for salad instead of the potatoes and veggies so I did well. The cashier looked at me as if I'd lost my mind because i still had to pay the full price. Better that than to ruin my diet with potatoes, gravy and peas/carrots.
Came home and hubby and BIL expected me to make them lunch. Go figure! Here I'd packed hubby a lunch, not realizing that he and BIL were planning to spend the say in hubby's workshop. So, thinking I was getting a break from cooking, I come home and still had to make them something. Sometimes life sucks....and it's all MEN'S fault. Of course, if I were a modern wife I'd just tell them to make it themselves.
Ageoldie, I'm interested in that LC kit you bought too. How much was it, if you don't mind me asking? Is it available in Canada? Probably not.

Lucky Dylan, your hubby is going to love LC and you will now have to share all your lovely proteins with him whereas before you could fill him up on bread and potatoes. LOL

Wow, everyone is so busy! I love reading about your days. I have been a slug today, and proud of it. Getting the sickies AGAIN and I need my rest. Got the brakes done on the car, the front of the house is painted a sunny yellow, and hopefully if the weather holds, it will be completed tomorrow. That boyfriend guy who hangs around here sometimes is FULL of energy today. Anwyay, it's nice to have him around when things need doing.

Tommie is sleeping, Mama is sleeping, and I have done too much sleeping today. Maybe some laundry, some supper, and a bath? Sounds good to me. Ya'll have a wonderful night, talk to you later!

Robin-what incident-oh I have to try to get the threads up.
We are snowed in as well, I went to work today and we got another 20 cem. of snow with 100 km. winds. We didn't think that we would get home but who wants to stay at work. At the hospital that i work in we are closed down to visitors as the fly is still there. I havn't had it yet, and I don't want it.

Good evening everyone!

Well, going back to work wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, strange how we crave monotony after all the excitement of the last few weeks. Yes, my job is boring but you know what? My life is usually so busy and hectic I actually crave the time to be alone for a little while. I have my word searches and trashy novels (literally, that's all you can handle on a 12 hour overnight) so I'm set. Did myself a big favour yesteday--went to the library to get a library card and checked out soe books. I haven't had time to sit let alone read for the last few years and now I have the perfect job to let me do that.

Ruth, how many times have we told you to stay away from the Fair office? :nono: I would love to seewhat you have in terms of puppy pics!

taz, go to the top of the forum and present your question in the Announcements and Forum help--Suzanne is usually there with ready Q&A

Umm, Sherrie? We don't know about the boyfriend guy--DETAILS! Cough it up girlie :D

Linda! I've seen that lace table cloth, it's really nice :) And you're right, men generally suck but today dh is being very nice to me (well he has to doesn't he?)

jiff! I got my car stuck in the driveway on my to work last night and dh and my neighbourhad to dig it out this morning. I used his car to get to work, and when I got homehe told me he got the car stuck again!

L, are you a hairdresser? I mean seriously, I need advice on a good curling iron too--I was thinking one of those air models. :D

Miss, I know that you will love Atkins, we won't lie the first 3-4 days are really hard but after you get over the hump it's clear sailing!

Dyan, my dh at one time wanted to try low carb with me and he was doing so well but then he decided to eat ont he sly and ruined it all. Now his parents are giving him grief over how much he weighs..sigh...

Barb, that kit sounds great but I just know it would cost a million bucks here in Canada. Happy eating!

Deb! Welcome to nearly everyday here in Canada--snowed in is the name of the game :)

Rachel, any day that a man takeshis children to spend time with them is pure gold to us busy mommies, hope you enoyed your time!

Robin, I usually eat a winter vegetable mix--broccoli and cauliflower--you can buy it frozen in bags. I use this religiously at this time of the year--helps me get the fibre and veggie quotient in :)

L, scrapbooking! I have heard aboutit but I don't knw if I have the patience for it. How do you do it?

Dottie, conferring blessings and prayers to your family :)

Gotta go eat! Mmm.....

Pooky,
LoL I am not a hairdressed, just a chick with wild hair that need taming, But I supose I would do the same and go to a beauty suply store and check out what the have.
As for scrapbooking? I love to craft and i find it relaxing. I have a book for each boy. I am so far behind though, I have older boy caught up to 1997 and little man is at about 99. it is my winter project to get caught up. Maybe by next winter?

Have a good night...see you in the morning...

Oh pooky, whatcha reading? For trash I have to say that Sandra brown, Slow heat in Heaven and Envy are great!

I'm doing the happy dance... I got carded buying DHs low-carb beer. I truly enjoy the suprise of being carded at age 31, and then the look of disbelief when the clerk looked at my birthdate. And I wasn't even wearing make-up.

DH is NOT coming to Joisy with me. Nope, now way, no how. In April he's going to VA to visit his brother without me, so I'm going away without him. (ok, you got me, I didn't want to go to VA anyway, but that's our secret!)

I have to say that grocery shopping entirely low carb is way easier than trying to figure out separate menus. It's funny though, when I was making out my shopping list, DH was saying, "Don't forget to buy cheese, and eggs, and some lettuce..." DUH! What do you think I've been eating, air? Hmm, maybe that's what DH really stands for: DuH.

I also bought myself a new toy, a exercise ball. One of those 27 inch diameter ones that you lay on and do all sorts of exercises. I blew it up and started by doing 10 crunches and 10 pushups. Feeling the burn now, but I'm amazed, I certainly couldn't have done 10 pushups without it.

I realize I'm rambling, so I'll shut up now. It's time to wake DH (niteshift) so I think I'll go talk to him til he decides to get up.

Good Morning Chicks,
For some reason I am on the thread this morning.
Thank you Pooky, I will ask Suzanne.
Dyan-I think it is great that your DH is low carbing with you. My DH would never be able to do this as he depends on, potato, apples, bread, cookies, etc.
Well I am going to the top of the board and ask the great one a question, Haha. Then I am going to try to read some of the threads that I couldn't get into.

Good Sunday Morning all!!

Barb your low-carb kit sounds great! What have you tried that you would eat again?

Dyan I think it's great your hubby is going to low-carb with you. My hubby made some rumblings last week about dropping a few pounds. He weighed 180 when we married 22 years ago, and up until he stopped smoking back in 2000. Well since he stopped smoking he has gained 25 or so pounds, it's about to drive him crazy.

Oh Pooky, I'm not snowed in, I was just doing the :yikes: snowed in for all that were. If we were snowed in down here, it would be a major news story. There wouldn't be a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk anywhere to be found, you would need to go to Florida to buy one.

Dyan, where in VA is your hubby going? I'm from VA, moved to GA 10 years ago.

Jiff hope your car is fixable! Interest rates are great right now if you can swing the payments, for a new one.

Janice, hope your doing well!!

To everyone else have a great day.

Good Morning chickies.......

hope you are all having good weekends...... I missed being able to post yesterday, altho I did check in and read up on you. I am unable to sit for more than 10 - 15 minutes at a time, the rest of the time is pretty much flat on my back....... gonna be interesting to try to work tomorrow, especially since the site I am going to is (without traffic) 45 minutes away, but since I have to be there at 8:45 am, I will have to leave home at 7..... straight from work, I will be going to stay with my sister for a couple of days. She is having cataract surgery tomorrow and I don't want her to be all alone for the first day or two...... hopefully by the time I come home on Wednesday night I won't be totally crippled.

Jif.... good luck with your car. I'm glad to see you're feeling so much better. Just please stop overdoing it!
Deb.... those pictures are terrific
Scooby... I'm with you...... we'll have to give Ruth 30 lashes if she tries to do any more accounting!
Dyan... dh sometimes thinks he is lc'ing with me! (yeah right, so he didn't have a baked potato -- :dizzy: sheesh!) but, ya gotta give them points for at least trying!

Well, anyone I haven't gotten to, please forgive, me, I can't sit any longer and the CRS is strong today!

Have a good day, all.......

A quick hi before venturing out in the cold for groceries before the stores get crowded. Need some eggs and chicken breasts and a few things for the week. Talked DH out of shrimp for lunches every day, and into smaller shrimp on his salad a few days a week. We are supposed to be in a major push to save for a new house down payment, and shrimp is just not going to be added into the budget! He's lucky he gets chicken breast- I was pushing for PBJ once or twice a week!

This afternoon I'll do some cooking; turkey meatballs for dinner tonight and during the week once, and maybe some enchiladas. I have the ingredients for baked ziti, but I don't khow if I can get this all in. Then a drive over to the beach, DH wants to take pictures, and I will walk and read in the car. We live close to Jones Beach, it's beautiful there in the winter, no crowds!

Nice to see the boards active! And all this New Year's energy is really helping out!

Hi Scooby, I did my pantry when I did the kitchen this fall, it was very alarming what was back there!
Tazcat, it sounds more like a problem with your internet provider than with the site-
Hi Sam's- take it easy, are you sure you can't skip work tomorrow?
Hi Deb, your pics were great- it looked like lots of fun-DD is a cutie
Hi everyone else, stay well, and enjoy your day!

Good Morning Ladies

I dug out my "Joyce L Vedral" Definition Weight Training Plan book last night, and started refreshing my memory on how to do it her way. Going to have hubby bring up the work out bench from the basement. I really hate the basement, its a 1920 house, .....so you can imagine what the basement is like :yikes:

I still have to find my weights, but they cant be very far.....even if I cant find them, they are pretty cheap at walmart...and that will be today's job.....finding and/or purchasing the weights I need.

Hubby even offered to work out with me......and Im thrilled with that idea. Cuz, he gets BIG muscles when he works out...OH MY!!:o That should be incentive enough to keep me working out!!

Well thats my exciting day lol....have a good one everybody

Well we slept in to late to go to church again too--I can hear my FIL now!!:nono: But, I'll live through that!

Well, I officially started today instead of tomorrow!! How about them apples?:twirly: I just got up today and said--" this is it!" Actually I did not get up until after 10:devil: so some of my day is already gone. HAd my 2 eggs--and I am still hungrey--I am so used to eating taost with my eggs--:s: .

My Dh has the day off today--he doesn't get very many of them and he is already driving me insane!! He decided he needs to do some laundrey--seriously ladies--there is only about 2 loads to do--and he has to do 'em--but do you think he will fold anything up?? Noooooooo--he puts the basket in on our bed and waits for me to fold and hang and put away----Grrrrrrrrr:stress: And to top it off--he says he wants steak and potato's with green peppers for dinner today--and baked beans-I say that is fine but I can't eat the potato's and beans--Well why not he wants to know so I preceed to tell him and he says--"why don't you just listen to me--lo-carbs will make you GAIN weight" Like the Phone man here is the expert--I love the man but Lord, can he get my goat sometimes!!!!!:dizzy:

OK--enough of that--I start my aerobic/weight training class tomorrow--it is just once a week but if I can hop aboard my treadmill a few times a week to then maybe the results will come!

Wish me luck guys--I need it!!:flow2:

Oh no! What is it about this board and water problems?? I woke up to a leaking washing machine. Repair guy will be here at 4pm. DH is grumpy about the repair cost, but it's hard to live without a washer for very long.

Deb - He's going to Suffolk-VA Beach area.
Pooky - WTG on the 3 pounds!! Did I ever ask what kind of job you're doing? I used to work overnight - 12 hour shifts. It's was sooo hard to stay awake, but at least I had the internet.
Miss - The proof is in the LC pudding - when he sees how much you'll lose he will shut up. I hate to admit I was once a naysayer - although the chick doing the Atkins diet told me she wasn't allowed to have any veggies. Hello? Did you actually read the book? At the time I thought "No veggies? That can't be healthy."

I'm off to walk the track. I bought on of those workout logs where you set goals and track them and I met all of my goals for this past week. Yippee! I set the bar higher for next week!

You guys will probably get tired of me this next week or so.......Is it possible to get withdrawals on the FIRST day??????:( I'm telling you guys, I feel shaky and I got so hungrey a little while ago--I went to the store and loaded up, I just ate a piece of chicken rool and that alpine lace swiss cheese with a little real mayo for a snack--that sure did not seem like dieting to me:s:

Ginamarie--Where are you??? Are you still holding on? Your are my guide since you started this induction a few days before me--let's here from you!!!!:D

Dylan--I'm with you on the water problem believe it or not--DH and neighbor guy are downstairs right now and just emptied hot water tank--they are mumbling somthing about new swithch....all I know is I can't flush the toilets:eek: hopefully thry will get it fixed soon!!

Ok--I need to plan some meals--as much trouble as I've had with this weight thing you would think that I would have learned to plan meals!!

Rachel - Your family is so cute. I'm inspired to work on my scrapbooking, if only the dryer wasn't in the hallway blocking access to my craft stuff.

Thanks for sharing Rachel, your family is wonderful!

And yes Dyan, I am doing the exact same shift--overnight security guard at an empty plant. Very spooky indeed. Found myself at loose ends this past shift--bleeding nose from the dry dry air they pump intp that place! Obviously I need to increase the water intake...:^:

Have any of you read Sylvia Browne, the psychic? She's on Montel all the time and I never miss a show (OK, at least I try not to :) ) I was reading her book, "Life on the Other Side" (aka heaven) and found a fabulous quote that I think I am going to add to my signature. Sure tells us the truth of what is really importanti n life, doesn't it?

Hey guys--for all of you that use fitday.com I have a few questions.

I just put in today's food--does it seem to take a long time for everyone?

After I finished I realized that I had like 50 some grams of carbs--well as you well know I am in the induction period and have REALLY been watching--so I looked down through and found my culprits/

First I had 1 tablespoon of slivered dry roasted almonds--I even measured--my bag gave me ONE gram--Fitday gave me 20--same with sunflower seeds-(I added these to my salad)--bag says 5 grams and Fitday said 20 or so.... Just be carefule!!!

BTW--I stayed at 12 grams today!!
