 Everyone!

So, here is the breakdown for today! I was SO PROUD of myself! :yay:
Hey, I have to :celebrate: when I’m not binge drinking!
That seems to be when I have a stall or a gain!

MN-7a: --
7a-Noon: Greek Yogurt, blackberries, 2 tsp Polaner All Fruit 120
Noon-3p: 7 chips (yes!, I counted them out 1st), salsa, grilled shrimp, refried beans,
Fiber1 Bar 650 (over approximated)
3p-7p: --
7p-MN: Cheese Omelet, Orowheat English Muffin, 1 tsp Polaner All Fruit,
1c Watermelon, Edy’s Fruit Bar 541
TOTAL: 1311
64 oz water

No Orchestrated Exercise

Another NSV for me: I wore MY FAVE pair of khaki pants (Eddie Bauer) to church today!
I haven't worn them in 2 yrs!
As far as the :goodscale: is concerned, let's just say I caved and hopped on this a.m.
and OH MY, can it be my Friday???

Jo: What pace do you run? I just discovered this info off a MFP thread. If you ever run
with music and need a new playlist--I use my computer and have a couple iCardio playlists
with the tread--type in "170, 180, 190, 200 BPM music" and you will get multiple sites with
songs with that many beats/min! AWESOME!!

Diana32: Thanks for continuing our thread, despite being in maintenance! You ROCK!
:broc: COME ON CHICKS & LARRY!! NO SLACKING THIS WEEK!! MAKE THE MIDDLE OF MAY COUNT!! :broc:

New low today :yay: Here's hoping it sticks!!! Off to plan out my meals, another baseball game today so the timing will be screwy. Have a grrrrrrrreat day everyone!

K9, What pace do I run? I run slooooooooow. Ha, Ha. I am improving steadily. When I run the longer runs I am still averaging about 12 minute miles. For shorter runs I can go faster and sustain it. I was working on speed the last couple months, but found out I wasn't losing as fast (or hardly at all) with interval work, so I am back to steady long distance this month and so far so good. I do listen to music, I have a tv going with closed captions, my earphones in my ears and sometimes my scrabble games on my ipad. Sometimes I surf 3FC too! I am a weirdo, but it works and passes the time quickly. I would love to know what thread/site you are talking about, the faster and more upbeat the music, the more I like it!

Good morning Diana3271!

Good Morning, Everyone!

I went to bed too late last night. I stayed up to watch the Survivor Finale. By the time I finished some stuff and got into bed it was midnight! I am too old for that mess. ;)

K9 Congrats on the NSV and the sneak-a-peek at the scale. Awesome work!

Jo Congrats on the new low! :carrot:

Jomatho Yay for you and the new low!!! Whatever you are doing, it's working!

k9owner Yay for the NSV and the surprise on the scale this morning. You're doing great!

Diana3271 That's how late I'm up almost every night - living in a house full of night owls stinks!

Good morning to everyone else!

For me - I am on my 2 week yo-yo. My goal is ONE pound for these two weeks. My low is 210.6. If I can get even to 209.8 in these two weeks (1.5 weeks to go), I will be happy.

Did some more gardening yesterday and hope to do more today if the weather cooperates.

Hey guys! Sorry I went missing for the weekend, it was a huge weekend here. DH's university graduation was yesterday, and Saturday some very good friends needed help moving, so its been busy. But I'm so proud of myself, because I had a pretty on plan weekend! Weekends usually kill me, either with chocolate, sweets and wine or eating out. Despite this weekend being a celebration weekend, I was able to keep myself pretty reined in.

Saturday was a great day. I got an awesome workout in bright and early, before DH left for the day. Ate ~1500 cal of good food, lots of fruit, veggies, and protein. Little man and I stayed in a lot of the day, since it was a torrential downpour here. Sunday was a bit harder food wise, since it was graduation. Had a huge breakfast (600 cal) and a huge dinner (700 cal), no lunch, and a couple of sugary snacks. It was a carbalicious day. But I only went over about 50 cals, so not too bad.

Still weighing in at 173. I've seen 172 a few times though, but it never sticks.

Back later for personals! Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Over the weekend I cheated just a bit. But when I weighed in this morning, I gained no weight!

Saturday:
Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 slices turkey bacon, 1/2 grapefruit
Lunch: 2 lettuce wraps with Ham, cheese, tomato and carrots (126 calories each)
Snack: Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie (My cheat)
Dinner: Sausage Salad roughly 320 calories (Kielbasa slices, leafy lettuce, tomato, carrots, low-fat chedder, vinigrette)
90 ouces of water
No excercise

Sunday:
Breastfast: 1 cup Frosted Flakes, with 1/2 cup blueberries (Frosted Flakes were my cheat)
Lunch: Steamed Cabbage and Grilled Chicken Breast
Dinner: 4 ounce Skirt Steak with Sauted Zucchini & Onions
Snack: Dried Cranberries 1/4 cup
Excercise: p90x core synergetics

Lets just say that the P90x kicked my butt yesterday morning but I felt the difference throughout the day. My posture felt better and I could feel inches lost in my clothes. Not sure what the number was. But I'm loosing some of the mommy pooch and poking tummy.

Monday morning Weighin 158. No weight lost or gained! Looking foward to a great week.

Hi everyone! :coffee:

Sorry I was missing over the weekend. Dh and I went away for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Had a wonderful time! I can't even try to catch up, so I'll just start with today, okay?

Have a great day, everyone!

RoadBIker:I was missing over the weekend too! Glad we're back!

milesawaygirl: welcome!

Rachael: Glad you got away with a little cheat! You meals looked good to me... oh- I guess the oatmeal pie was your cheat. I buy oatmeal pies for my family. Everyone loves them around here... except me. I hate them so I never cave into temptation and my family has treats in the pantry.

Still: your picture is new and so pretty!

Berry: You're on week 2 and I am on week 3! UGH... this is my longest... but I am totally okay with it today! just going to get back to my plan and see what happens. I hope you get to work in the yard today!

GraceAWalker: welcome!

JO: COngrats on the new low! YAH for you!

K9: Great job staying on plan! and thanks for the cheer! I am going to shoot for an ON PLAN WEEk!

--------------------------------
Not much to report from me... of course I am still at 175... I am skipping spin today to do some chores and errands but I'll get to the gym for other cardio this afternoon. I have a weightlifting appt. at 11.

I've been MIA for the weekend, too. I've noticed a few things in trying to play catch up....1 We have several newbies! That is awesome!! :welcome2:
2 SEVERAL of us were out of town for the weekend! Welcome back everyone. Hope you all enjoyed yours as much as I enjoyed mine!
and 3 EVERYONE seems to be doing REALLY well!! :yay:

I'm holding my own, I think. Did pretty well while we were gone, although I don't know that I necessarily lost anything. We'll see tomorrow, I guess, at ww mtg. I tried really hard though. Friday, I got an IPhone (finally joined the 21st century) so I'm better able to use livestrong while I'm out and about. It REALLY helped keep me accountable this weekend!! I'm sooooo grateful to have it now! Should've done it sooner! I went over by 100 yesterday, but when I logged some of my exercise, it said I could still have 134 more calories, so I think I did okay. :D Didn't get in as much activity as I had hoped this weekend, but I relaxed (NEEDED that!) so it was okay. Glad to be home, though! :D

Okay, lots to do today. Have a GREAT on target day everyone!! Missed you guys!

Good Morning Everyone!

Also away for the weekend...but I never really go online on the weekend :)

I spent a lot of time on my own this weekend...just reflecting and allowing myself to cry and feel the pain and I think it helped me tremendously.

My date on Thursday went well but I believe I scared him a way because when asked, How long ago did my last relationship end? ...I was caught like a deer in headlights. And I just said...not that long. The date was going really well and totally flirty until that point and the date ended shortly after, but I feel like I gave some signal or impression that I'm clearly not past my last relationship to move on because we were texting Friday and I said...Let me know when you want to hang out again...and the ONLY reply I got was a :) (a SMILEY face) no words and haven't heard anything so I think I did some scaring away. So I was supposed to have another date on Sunday so I cancelled that and spent some time alone because I am clearly NOT ready to date AT ALL. I mean...who really wants to be some girl's distraction or rebound...so unless I lie about it...I come off like I'm looking for a rebound and I don't like being that way and I definitely am not going to lie.

So this going out of town until June is a really good thing for me. I hope it clears my head and I am busy enough and have enough alone time to work through and process some things.

All this being said, my apetite still sucks. I have been getting hungrier in the evenings though and I'm still exercising. I'm on W4D3 of C25K today. Hopefully I'll get a nice run in after work :)

______

k9- Congrats on your khaki NSV. I lol'd at binge drinking. Not that it's funny but I have also drank an entire bottle of wine myself so I can relate.

Jo - Congrats on the NEW LOW!!!

Melissa - Wow! I just noticed HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO ONEDERLAND!!! YAY GIRL!

Still - Good job for sticking to the plan this weekend!

Roadbiker - Aww. I hope you and your DH had a great time!!

Stacy - Hi! Hope you had a nice weekend away!

I am always missing on weekends, as I don't even want to look at a computer then! But, I've been missing for over a week now because I was on vacation. It was great! We went to Disney World in Florida. It was also my daughter's second birthday. A great week :)

I didn't journal or anything while I was on vacation, but made good food choices and did a ton of walking in the parks. I weighed myself this morning and was down 1.2. :D

Hi I'm Mary and I'm newish. I joined 3FC when my six! year old son was a baby and I didn't stick with it. This time is different. I have a nine month old daughter now. I am finally ready to be serious about this. I'm almost thirty and I'm realizing that I've been fat for my entire adult life. I'm tired of being tired! I'm going to do it this time. So my long term goal is to be at 140 by the time I'm thirty. I'll be 28 in two months, do you ladies think this is a reasonable and healthy goal?

So far what I have done is cut out tea and soda. I'm drinking only water every day and I'm using a calorie counter. I've started taking 20 min walks at least twice a week. Not much, but it's more than before. And nothing has seemed unsustainable yet. Two walks a week and only cold water to drink? Easy :)
Help me stay on track! :)

Congrats on your husband Still. Which university? MSU?

K9 WooHoo on your pants!!

Novelista This is all practice. Get your feet wet :)

Really yucky weekend we had. Our local little downtown had their flower fair and I volunteered there for Saturday a bit. Sunday they had to cancel the whole thing :(

I am just really excited about my trip to Finland. I have been washing and ironing clothes. I won't bring that much with me, because I love to shop there.

Weight is holding steady at 156...I and trying to be really good :)

Doing good so far today. My food intake so far today has been really good... Oatmeal, banana, one clementine, light and fit yogurt, turkey and mustard on ww bread, a few red pepper strips, and a little cauliflower. Took my dd out for a 35 minute walk and I vacuumed my living room. I feel pretty good about things today.

Shishkeberry: Looks like you are having a great day! Keep it up! I think your goal is totally on target and realistic! Just decide on your plan and stick to it! You are off to a good start!

Larry: Don't you love those milestones like weighing less then when you left the military? I weigh less then when I got married! Love that! Happy our absences were noticed! BUT glad to be back, too!

Sum: Sounds like you will have so much fun! I can't wait to hear about it all. Will you have internet access?

Novel: Glad you got your feet wet in dating... don't get too wrapped up in it. Are you going to have internet access to us when you are away? If you are hungrier at night...are you eating enough during the day? Sometimes I find my eating out of control at night when I have deprived myself throughout the day.

modkiten: To come back less then when you left is excellent! Congrats!

DianaLA: Sounds like you had a good weekend... glad to hear it! I did too... however I am not done AT ALL! Maybe this week!

Diana: HUgs! and Howdy!

---------------------------------
I lifted weights today first instead of cardio first. It was amazing how good I felt throughout. I am going to try that for the next two weeks before my vacation. I have really been struggling through the weightlifting... I am afraid I might get a little less cardio but I think it'll be okay.

Holy moly! Lots of new recruits! Welcome everyone!

I was out playing in the dirt today and I'm filthy - head to toe. I got the mulch around the tree and changed out the brick where it was mismatched. I mulched around the front of the house, repotted a couple things (to make my MIL happy, I put my annuals in stone looking pots and now she loves it and moved the others to the back yard). I mulched around the tomatoes and herbs and figs and mulched those pots as well. I mulched around the rock garden and then realized I was going to run out of mulch and ran to the garden center to get more mulch. I only put what was left in the wheelbarrow out in the side flower bed (about one bag's worth), so that is still waiting for me for the next chance of no rain. My yard is looking so much better!

The other thing that makes me happy is that REI is having another big sale and bikes are on sale as are the sandals I want to get Woohoo!!!! Makes me happy as DH just said this weekend that we need to get my son and me bikes and I was HOPING a sale was coming. Yippee!

Man, playing in the dirt makes me one happy girl!

Mary, :welcome2: So glad you're back! Hope you stick with us....you won't be sorry you did! The folks around here are VERY encouraging!! :D

I just took a shower thinking there was no more chance to get out in the garden and what do I see? SUNSHINE and light clouds. Darn... think I can go back out there and not get all dirty? I'm thinking no... I could run to the garden center as it seems I dropped my packet of dill seeds! But now is rush hour. Seriously wish I could get back out there - it's like I'm addicted to the great outdoors and gardening while the heat is low and there's no high humidity.

And just like that - it started raining hard. Clouds are moving FAST.

And I just had a great NSV. I can feel my ribs on my chest! Can't see them yet, but they are right under the skin and a tiny bit of fat. Wow! Haven't felt those in 13 years!

I'm proud of myself. My stress level has been higher than normal with finals and family stuff but I have not allowed it to cause me to go off my diet. As of this morning I am 172.4 lbs. 4 lbs away from my short term goal, 35 lbs away from my long term goal. 4 lbs will put me solidly into the normal BMI category and 35 lbs will put me on the lower end of the BMI category but that is the weight that I looked and felt the best. LOL it should only take me oh 5-10 months to reach that weight (I figure 1-2 lbs a week of weight loss).

Hello everybody! This past weekend was full of ups and downs. As for the good thhings, I dropped 1.4 pounds! That's exciting. I also found a good fiber bar to help me stay regular. I really like it a lot!

Now for the bad...I met a guy online and I was starting to like him. Well he came by my job to say hello and to finally meet face to face. I felt it went very well. Later that night when we talked he seemed more interested in my thin and beautiful coworker! I was sooo bummed and still kinda feel bad about. I'll never measure up against the thin girls :(

Modkittn: Glad you’re back and glad you had fun in Disney. :bravo: on the loss!! Keep up the fabulaire work!!

Hi everyone!

I feel lousy tonight. I went to a meeting tonight with my daughter's bridesmaids, and the mother of the groom to plan a shower, and it felt reeeaaalllly bad.

Just to give you some background - I had told my daughter's bridesmaids that I wouldn't host her bridal shower, because in my tradition that's seen as a gift grab by the mother of the bride. But, I said, I'd love to help a lot with the shower. Well, about two weeks ago, I emailed the hostess, and basically said, "How can I help?" No response. It couldn't be because of any grudge, because I hardly know the woman. Okay.

Then about a week ago, I got home from work and checked my email, and the bridesmaids had pretty well planned the shower that afternoon via email. What had happened was that one bridesmaid - not the hostess - had put together a menu list, and asked everyone to sign up for different items. By the time I got home it was all done. I had no input whatsoever, and I had hoped to do something special for my daughter at this thing.

So I emailed the person who put together the list and said, "in future could we make the planning more inclusive." I also called the hostess, and said, "I really wished I could have been a part of the planning." She and a couple of others said that they had sort of jumped the gun. So then we arranged a meeting for tonight, and I did get some input.

Oh, well. I guess I got what I wanted...some input. I think the bridesmaids, or at least one of them, think I'm a b*tch. Well, if that's the worst that happens in the process of this wedding, that's not bad at all. And the fact is, if I really want to do something special for my daughter, I can find other ways to do it.

Thanks, everyone, for letting me rant. Usually if I write out my experiences, I can get it sorted out in the end. It just helps to know that all of you are there to listen. Thanks. :thanks:

Thanks. :thanks:

I'm sorry that was rough, but those young ladies should know that this is a big event for YOU too. Hope you get over that icky feeling - how was mom of the groom handling it?

Hi Ladies and Larry! I missed you all so much!

Just dropping in to say hi, I'll fill you all in on my endeavors tomorrow, lol, right now I'm exhausted, and headed to bed, but I missed you so I thought I'd say hi!

I didn't have a chance to go through the entire thread, but I think I read that Larry made it down lower than his Navy weight? WAY TO GO LARRY! :)

So time for personals...

Jomatho: congrats on the new low! :carrot:

K9: way to go on the OP days! :carrot: I’ll have to post biker photos next week. For all the time I spend on a bike, I don’t have many biking photos. I’m going away on a biking weekend on Friday, and I’ll get some pics then.

Grace: :welcome3:

Berry: I’ve got my fingers crossed for you. :crossed: Don’t you wish you could just go *poof* and make those 1.5 pounds go away? I’m so glad for you on the ribs! :cheer2: Thanks for your thoughts about the wedding shower thing . :D The icky feeling is pretty well gone.

Still: good for you for sticking with your eating plan so well. :carrot: You inspire me!

RachelJ: :welcome3: P90X workouts, huh? Those are sooo tough! You go, girl! :carrot:

Themilesaway: :welcome3: Love the chip lips!

Staceygee: that 175 has got to move soon! You know it will…don’t give up. You do sooo well with your workouts! “Dirty girls”

DianaLA: yup, the weekends away are nice. :D I really needed it, and dh and I reconnected, and we had a great time shopping stateside. :D

Novelista: Sounds like you’re really taking care of yourself, and like you’re really aware of where you are at. Glad to hear it. Reflecting really helps me sort things out, too. Wishing you lots of hugs and comfort. :hugs:

Modkittn: We haven’t met, so :welcome3: Congrats on the 1.2 pounds down. :woohoo:

Shishkeberry: :welcome3: You’ve made a wonderful start, and this thread is a great place for encouragement.

Sum: Finland – how exciting! Post some pictures of your clothes when you get back, okay? :cb:

Larry: You’re the official weight loss king! :cb: I’m with you on trying to cut down on sodium. I made some no-salt pickles the other day. They’re so-so. But other things, like homemade salt substitute, have turned out okay. I made some no-salt garlic soup. That’s right, garlic soup. Let’s just say you have to eat it with your loved one, or you’ll be sleeping alone

Txladymedic: :welcome3: My daughter is a paramedic, too.

MzJuicy: Congrats on the 1.4 pounds! :woohoo: And you don’t need to compete with those “thin girls.” *You* are special for who you are, and there is someone out there who will love you for you.

I’ve still been really busy. It’s the time of year, I think, plus I’ve been over booked at work. I haven’t had time to track my eating, but at least I’m getting the workouts in.

Okay, i've gotta 'fess up. I'm at 141.4. I want to be down at 138 or so. I've gotta get back on track, but reading about how all of you are doing, I feel inspired again. See you all tomorrow, oops, later today!

HA,HA,HA.HA.HA I was ROFLMAO  I bet you aren't bothered by werewolves either!! :D  :D

On a serious side I love garlic:hug: Would you post your recipe? I have the ideal house to try it in because my DW has no sense of smell. NONE!! She lost it as a teenager when she went over the handlebars of her bike and broke her nose. She can't even smell ammonia based smelling salts. Sure was handy for diaper changes with our children.

Morning all! (Once you catch up with my time zone...)

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes, it's really encouraging to know how supportive you all are to one another, it's totally what I was looking for!

So I've joined a 12 week challenge-type-thing on another thread with weekly weigh-ins, and I'll be weighing in on Wedesdays now. I sneaked a look at the scales last night and it was the same as last Wednesday so I'm really hoping for a pound to drop off in the next couple of days!

I was a tiny bit over my food plan for fats yesterday, but only because I had a whole avocado with my dinner, so not too worried about that. I clocked up 1217 calories, which is great for me (I'm aiming for 1200-1500) and I was a little bit naughty as I had 3 haribo sweets (my boss threw them at me, what was I to do!!!)

I went for a 2.5 mile run too, which I was really worried I'd struggle with, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't even feel silly running down the busy street just before I got home, so really happy with that. I'm off to a power-pump class at the gym tonight, going to try and push that little bit harder!

Probably just a blip in this yo-yo thing I have going on, but I saw 209.8 this morning!!! That's down 1.2 since yesterday (and I was peeing a lot - water weight!) Plus, gardening rocks when it comes to dropping weight for me! Rainy day today, so I'll definitely have to workout inside, but I'll be sneaking back outside as soon as I can to finish up!

Well Yesterday was an okay day.
Breakfast: Mini Western Style Quiche
Lunch: I missed it because I got sooooo swamped at work
Snack: A granola Bar
Dinner: Ham Sandwich
Excercise: P90x Yoga 1 hour 35 minutes or so
Water: 60 ounces

Yesterday afternoon sucked. I missed lunch and I tried to scarf down a granola bar before working out. I figure due to my lack of calories, I ended up sort of over exerting myself during the yoga. I felt extra woozy and ended vomiting not long after finishing. After my stomach settled, I at a ham sandwich and sulked and stayed on the sofa the rest of the night.

Mornin' everyone!

Had a busy weekend and am now busy at work and boy do I have a lot to catch up on!

We have nothing but rain in the forecast and I'm BUMMED. Every single thing on my to do list is outside, not to mention that I really don't like any indoor exercise, but I'm not sure I'm up for any soggy walks or bike rides. Haven't decided how to handle that.

I had a pleasant surprise on the scale this morning, 203.2. Considering this was any one day drop of 2.2 lbs, I can't really expect it to stick around, but a girl can hope right? I finally am also seeing some tiny movement in the tape measure, which hadn't changed at all since I started. I knew I was getting smaller because some of my favorite clothes were getting big and I've been able to do some closet shopping into stuff I'd previously outgrown, but somehow I wasn't changing at the spots I measure.

Roadbiker: I am so sorry about that experience about the shower. Just hold your head high and know you are trying to do the right thing! Sometimes women can be so ugly to each other and I just really don't understand it.

K9: Love to be your exercise buddy! What are you going to do today for a workout? Do you go to a gym or workout at home?

Berry: I am happy you saw the downward blip. When you are ready please come here to Houston and provide guidance to me for my yard. I so admire what you are doing and wish I had the gumption to do it (and the money). I promise to keep you busy from sun up to sun down and prepare fabulous low calorie meals!

Rachael: Must have been some type of yoga class. Yoga calms me down! You must have definately been in your calorie limits... although not the ideal method for that! Hope today is better....

___________________________

OF COURSE I am weighing in at.... drum roll...... 175..... AGAIN! But, I am fine with it! I am coming off a splurge on the weekend.... and I was perfectly behaved yesterday. You know I haven't been less then 175 in about 14 years so my my body just wants to enjoy it here for awhile.

Michael my trainer suggested changing up what I am eating and you know I just said no I'm not going to do that... do you want to know why? I have learned good eating habits. I am eating in a way that is satisfying and sustainable for the rest of my life. If it means I am going to be stuck at 175 I am just going to be stuck here. I have never sustained such good eating habits in my life and I am not willing to change. I am a bit worried about my thyroid though so I might make a visit to my doctor. He may have some suggestions. I have a mole he wants to remove anyway. I probably need to do that before schools out.

Hold a weight in each hand and step up. I did them yesterday at the gym and they kicked my a$$! Wish you could come here... the sun is shining and it is cool outside. An absolute beautiful day!

Checking in for the morning. Had a POP day yesterday, clocking in at 1235 calories. I have slept really well the last 2 nights, which I needed.
Today is my rest day from running, and I think I will totally rest today, which is hard for me mentally, I have this urge to burn calories. One side of my brain says, "burn more calories" and the other side says "but your body needs a rest". So rest it is.
My scale is down again today another 0.8, I can almost smell the 180's. I think I have been burned so many times with the scale though that is is almost bittersweet to see a drop, wondering if it is real and if it will stick. Like I said yesterday, I will enjoy it for today.
NSV ALERT: as I was writing that last sentence I thought about BMI and went to an online calculator to check it out, guess what, I am no longer obese. I am overweight!!!!!! WOW, never thought I'd say those words and be happy about them! Just barely though, so now I have to make sure I am POP today especially since it is a rest day.

Just want to give a shout out to all the newbies, glad you are here and also to all the familiar faces that were gone this weekend or lately, glad you are all back, I missed all of you! Thanks to everyone for the motivation and strength I get from you everyday. I was just thinking about this board yesterday and how I am so proud that I didn't get derailed by my vacation, and just April in general as a month (only losing 2#). In the past, without 3FC, I think I would have definately thrown in the towel sometime in April. I feel so blessed. A huge thank you

New to the board and starting fresh today. I brought my gym bag to work with me today and will leave work on time and go to the gym after work. It is raining and yucky outside so indoor exercise looks to be the game plan for the week. As for food I have a bad habbit of starving myself all day, so I made sure I brought my lunch and will have small snacks through out the day. Taking baby steps :) Today's lunch is peanut butter and jelly, I feel like I am in school again LOL.

Yesterday was extremely LOW in calories...under 1000. :( BUT I felt I needed to do that as I've had more OVER target days than ON target days this past week. Today is weigh in day for me (at 6 pm)....I'm not expecting much. I think I've lost some of my inspiration......soooooo I told DH last night--NO splurges for me this week. I've gotten to where I have a couple of them per week and I think it's hurting me. So, starting to day, they STOP. I'm walkin' the straight and narrow atleast for the next few weeks to see how my body does with that. Hopefully it'll help a LOT and I can re-find some of my inspiration.

BOY where are all of you new folks coming from? Is May "the month" that everyone renews their New Year's Resolutions? Just Kiddin'!! Glad you guys are here! It's a FABULOUS place for encouragement and the wisdom of the people here is AMAZING (okay, me excluded....wise, I am NOT! lol)

Good Luck with your weigh in!!!! Do you record your food on your splurge days? I know for me if I am splurging, I tend to not record and if I am not recording, I am splurging. Does that make sense? I think if you record everything you eat, even if you are splurging, you won't splurge. Hehe, I am following my logic, is anyone else? Anyways, this is something I am changing about myself, thought it might help you too.

Already downed a NOW Green Monster and getting ready to take the K9s to the park for the morning. I am PUMPED!

Couple of quick things b4 I head out...

Stacy: No gym. :tread: at home, tennis, zumba, K9 walk at local park. Hopefully this week I can add AbRipper X to this list! I am so ready to define my abs! I see them in my cooler!!!

Jo: I sent you a PM for the music, hope you got it. I have more to add to the list already. I have created 4 list now. They are about 40 min each. Rock, Club, Alternative, and Hip Hop which includes some reggaeton! :running:

Yeah, I usually track my "cheats" (I prefer to call them planned splurges because I do typically plan them ahead of time.....the one last wednesday had been planned from the beginning of my journey....when I got to 200, I was having my fav food: fried catfish) I did NOT track what I ate at that meal though......but I splurged a little the next day (1600 calories for the day) and I DID track those. I haven't really splurged a lot since then, though. I think my deal has been sodium this week.....with traveling over the weekend, my choices were pretty much pre-packaged foods. I was up to 202.6 yesterday morning. I knew it was water weight. I've been taking a fluid pill on Tuesday mornings only, but I took one yesterday and I lost 4 lbs yesterday, down this morning to 198.6! :yikes: This fluid/sodium thing is soooo frustrating! :( :( :( I wouldn't stress about it nearly as much if I didn't do "official weigh ins" on Tuesday at Weight Watchers. In fact, were it not for being my friend's accountability partner, I probably would quit going to the meetings....which might lead to failure, I don't know. Maybe it's good that I keep going.

BTW MzJuicy......if a man is sooo shallow that your weight being more than someone else's makes him go to the other person, you're better off without him!! He's just missing out on an awesome opportunity to know a GREAT person! You just keep doing what you're doing........be who you are! Your Mr. Right is out there!

Kristiina, yes, I do believe you walk faster than I jog  Wish we lived closer so we could go out together! I know you could make it 8 miles.
But seriously, I think it is my form that slows me down, I think I go up and down more than I go forward. I can't lengthen my stride out like I should. Perhaps because I carry most of my weight in my chest/abs/hips/butt, maybe my core is so weak that I keep a shorter stride? I have worked on trying to lengthen my stride but I get tired so much quicker. I keep saying it is like running with a 45 pound vest on (extra weight I am carrying). The vest is getting lighter though, when I started, I had on an 85 pound vest :fr:

Yeah, I was following the converstion the other day and immediately thought of my mom, and her birthday is on May 30th, so it was just another idea for her. She's been gardening for years and years and we were talking the other day, because the garden is in the back part of our property, it takes a while for it to dry out in the spring, have to plant late, etc, and she brought up the idea for moving to raised beds closer to the houses. You guys had just talked about this that day and a lightbulb went off in my head. . .

Hi Everyone!

This is what I expect to be my last official post from now until May 31st. From here on out, I will most likely be posting from my phone so I won't be able to write more than a line or two.

I am very busy at work today and very stressed out. I want to pull all my hair out trying to get every detail ready for our trip. Of course my boss is totally and completely unappreciative and treating me like crap. Whatever!

I'm about 176 as of this morning. Say all the prayers you can that I do not gain while I'm away. I have plans to go and run and both of our hotels have fitness centers so I should be able to keep up with c25k. It's just the eating out for EVERY SINGLE MEAL that scares me. I'm not good at making good choices at restaurants.

Oh well, we shall see I guess! I'll be keeping up with everything that goes on via my daily update and if I can't get to personals from my phone, know that I'm thinking of you ALL!!

Kids Band Banquet is tonight, and I would hate to look like I haven't showered in 3 weeks

My MIL is mad at me, as usual...I must be happy because she is not bothering me that much :)
The banquet we have tonight, is invitation only. -- It is held at a local country club; seating is very limited. We usually end up having a shortage of seats, therefore it is invite only and max four tickets per family. -- I did not even tell MIL about it, but as usual she found out...she was livid at me because I did not include her. I tried explaining it is invite only and we could only have 4 tickets anyways...she called the mom who organizes this event and tried getting tickets. -- Kathy, the mom, explained to her that the event is sold out and secondly it is reserved for parents and siblings only. My MIL hung up angry.

Kathy called me. I have known her casually for years...she said; Kristiina, I am so sorry...lol

Know what I could really go for? Gum. I'm not much of gum chewer usually. I have no idea what brought this on.

I just talked myself down from a black and white cookie. There's leftover catered lunch stuff in the kitchen. I did have a bit of brownie, but I cut it so I only had a taste. Small victories, right?

I went and got on the elliptical for 15 minutes at lunch. That'll probably be the extent of my exercise for the day, with all the rain, but again, small victory.

First off, I would like to thank everyone for the encouragement. It really can hurt your feelings when a guy gets more interested in your skinnier, prettier friend :(. O well, on to the next one!

Today my close cousin told me that her doctor highly recommended her to lose weight so she can be here for her kids. She asked me to help her out and i am honored. I think this will help keep me on track as well. This is an honor.

I haven't been able to hit the gym yesterday or today...but hopefully I will get to go the rest of this week! I think I have been doing great with my eating. I have found a new snack that I really enjoy...well 2! The first are my fiber bars. They are tasty and keep me regular lol. Also I have discovered Spinach and Artichoke hummus with whole grain pita bread. It is really yummy!

B: Cheese omelet (1 egg) and slice of whole grain toast

L: Turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat sandwich rounds with a side of white cheddar popcorn and banana

Good afternoon Ladies and Larry!

School is finally out! I am still fighting that sinus infection, and I have an appointment for a CT scan of my sinuses tomorrow, so hopefully that will help me figure that out. Now I am also battling a nasty chest cold, which I think is actually helping my sinus infection... does that make ANY sense? LOL. That spot on my face that kept getting "infected"? The doc gave up and sent me to the dermatologist. He took one look at it, told me it was an inflamed oil gland, gave me a shot of cortizone and said it would be gone in a week. It is much much smaller now, but still there. I think I will call him back, I probably only need another cortizone shot or something. As for the sinus infection, my doc put me back on the original antibiotic, I took one before bed that night, and woke up itchy about 12:30, and couldn't get back to sleep. The next day was spent napping and munching on benadryl and cookies... I know, I know, LOL. That was about 2 weeks ago, now I am on a new antibiotic, which I am sure is not working, but I got to see the ENT on the 31st.

Oh, and the mooch keyboard player? He quit the band last night right before practice, and then we had a great practice, without him! I'm so happy, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder!

Hearing you all talk about your gardens has me very excited to get my tomatoes planted. I think I will stick to the farmers markets for the rest of it this summer, but I should have plenty of tomatoes to can!

Back in a bit for personals!

S: Spinach & Artichoke hummus with pita Bread
L: Turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat sandwich rounds with a side of white cheddar popcorn and banana
S: Oats and peanut butter fiber bar
D: Grilled boneless pork chops marinated in teriyaki and herbs with turnip greens

I am so proud of you MZJuicy!

I have been trying get my fingernails clean for hours now...lol

She's a pill!

And wear gloves girly girl!

I had a pleasant surprise on the scale this morning, 203.2. Considering this was any one day drop of 2.2 lbs, I can't really expect it to stick around, but a girl can hope right?

Well, I hope it sticks, because you are definitely next for onederland and if you get there and are closer, than that means my turn is coming up soon/next (depending on newbies, of course). Keep up the good work!

I am so proud of this attitude because it is 100% spot on. You are doing great. It's not a race and it's all about lifestyle change you can MAINTAIN. I doubt you will be stuck at 175 forever, but even if you were to get stuck there... it's a heck of a lot better than your starting point, right? And yoru fitness level rocks. Keep up the good attitude!

Thank you so much Berry! That really meant a lot to me...

Andejean: Good to see your smiling face!

Zoodoo: congrats on the cookie victory. I have thought of chewing gun when I feel like I have the munchies- I have bought 2-3 packs and never chew it. I chewed a ton of gum in highschool- but 20 years later the allure has diminished.

Novel: Have a great trip novel!

k9- love your energy! Is it that GREEN MONSTER JUICE?

----------------

went to yoga this morning. I don't really consider that exercising... I go b/c it is relaxing and I enjoy the teacher. It is also fun to see the changes of what I am capable of. I did workout this afternoon. 30 minutes upper body and abs and 1 hour on the treadmill. 5% incline at 4MPH. Not excrutiating but I worked up a little sweat. I will return to the gym for SPIN class this evening. I have decided to stop calling that my workout too. I think I do it more for the fun of it and the socializing. It is just a plus that I burn calories.

TOM came 3 days early. That is different. I am actually glad it is a bit early. Usually after TOM I have a big WHOOSH. Let's hope for that. It would be really good for my attitude!

B:2 hardboiled eggs and a V8
L: Smartones meal
D: pork and rice w veggies
S: Rotini & Broccoli
I'm a calorie counter so that is 1202cal.

hi everybody! just re-joined 3FC before the weekend.
I got the courage this morning and joined curves! i went for my first work out and they killed me! im really out of shape!
im down 10 pounds since i started though :) so im very glad!

i wonder though, seems like most of you are eating 1200 cals. im eating 1600 cals. my fitday says i can have 2200, plus i exersized so 2500, if i want to lose 1.5 pounds per week (my goal)....so how come most of you are eating so little? will i lose at 1600? im a little concerned and confused with how much i should eat.

stacygee
05-17-2011, 05:48 PM
Aggie- you should start there but if you don't see results after 1 week then you should lower it to 1500... if you don't see results then lower it again. You should start as high as you can still lose weight. I try for 1200 and rarely end up there. I exercise a lot and usually end up at about 1500 calories. The fitday calories seem a little high to me. I definately don't eat back calories that I burn either.

K9 - Isn't closet shopping the best :)

jomatho - Woo-hoo on new lows. :carrot:

Grace - Possibly the only good things about Mondays is that you get to start over.

berry - As usual I'm jealous of all the time you're spending in the dirt. My dirt is all mud and no hope in the forecast :(

still - Congrats to the hubby! And to you for sticking to plan.

RachelJ - I'm not the workout video sort, but I am curious about P90X. Seems to keep circling around me.

themilesawaygirl - Welcome. This is a great place. Nice to be somewhere with people with the same focus.

roadbikerchick - Happy Anniversery! (Why does wedding planning always bring out the worst in people?)

Stacy - I'm in awe of all your exercise.

Diana in LA - So jealous on the that iphone. I've been drooling over one for a long time now.

novelista - good luck on your trip!

modkittn - Whoa! Losing on vacation is a major accomplishment.

shishkeberry - Welcome! I'm starting out very slow on the exercise front too.

sum - Have fun at the banquet. And you can't please everyone, right?

Larry - Your scale just keep on crusing downward. Amazing!

txladymedic - Good for you for staying on track. It's so easy to let stress lead us astray.

Diana - I'm always amazed at how consistent your calories are. Mine zigzag all over the place.

MzJuicyD - Congrats on the drop! And good riddance to the guy. That's just tacky of him to even mention your coworker.

Andejean -

jenfett, TXGirl - Welcome!

Aggie - I eat 1400-1500. You'll probably have to do some experimenting to see what works for you, to find a balance between what you're happy eating and how fast you'd like to lose. You're suggested calories are probably high in part because because you're young (?), and fairly tall. Also if you set your activity level to something other than sedentary, it might be throwing the calcs off.

I have a doctor's appointment with my doctor on Thursday morning. With lighter weight clothes, I will probably weigh 50 pounds less than the last time I saw him in January. I'm not very satisfied with him and will be switching after this appointment, but I'm curious what he will say about my weight AND about my health (as this is FINALLY the appointment to talk about my lab results which I have gotten back almost a month ago!)

It feels nice to FINALLY being going to the doctor feeling good about where I am health-wise. It's like never happened before!

Hi Everyone!

I've had a busy day! I had to go downtown to our Attorney's office. We have a communications tower on our property. The current contract doesn't expire until 2023. They want to extend that for another 25 years. I had to take the documentation to my Attorney for him to pick apart and protect us. ;) I like our Attorney and he is very good, but I hate dealing with that type of stuff. Also, I will probably be dead before the contract is even up. It seems crazy to do all of that, but that tower is an asset and income for us and the next owners of our property.

I came back to the shop to get a couple things done. This will be a quick check-in.

zoodoo613 Something funny about me: I eat the same thing, every day for breakfast and lunch. I enjoy those meals very much. I'm not one that gets bored and needs variety. My dinner is different every day, though. In general, I know my serving of grilled protein is 300-500 calories and I make up the difference that I need in veggies. It's a very simple way for me to eat. If I am lacking in calories, then I might have a 100 calorie ice cream or dark chocolate. I hate trying to figure things out on a daily basis and I like to keep things simple.

Diana32: I would love to be able to eat the same things and not get bored with it. I know I eat the same things often, but sometimes they switch up, like I’ll have breakfast food at night or for lunch. It’s hard for me to plan a day—much less a week—in advance, b/c I may wake up hungrier than ever or not at all. Ah! The life of a grazer! It’s getting better though!

Melissa: Hope you get a great report at the MDs office!

ZooDoo: Anything I don’t have to go out and try on at the store, right? Ugh! I used to LOVE shopping! No so much anymore.

Aggie: I agree with Stacy and ZooDoo on your cals/day. How much are you trying to lose? If your close to goal like some of us, trying to eat 2000 cals/day may not allow you to see the results you want. I don’t use Fitday, nor have I ever tried it, so no help to ya there. I use My Fitness Pal and adjust it according to what I am seeing from week to week. I almost have the settings tweaked perfectly!

Hi TXGirl: :welcome: I know how hard it is to squeeze a breakfast meal in! Here’s you a little :dust: to help with that!!

Novel: Have a FABULAIRE time on holiday!!

MzJuicy: :yay: for accountability! However, you be sure this cousin doesn’t cause your foot to stumble!! Be the firm, fabulous chic you can be and know that it takes a lot of patience and discipline to coach a family member in this journey, but YOU CAN DO IT!

Andejean: So glad to see you back! Hate you have had one infection after another! That’s just wrong on so many levels. Feel better soon!

Stacy: Nice job—as always!! OK, I was a slacker today and didn’t really get my 2/day like I wanted. I had planned to play tennis before Zumba, but my partner in crime had to stay late at the office. I don’t consider the K9 walk really cardio. Tomorrow is :running: for me and :crossed: tennis in the afternoon!!! I want it BADLY!!

Kristiina: YOU ARE SO ON!!! :cheer2: You call it! We’ll negotiate it! Your goal is way lower than mine! Hey, I’ve seen 130 before-- SCARY!!!!

Jo: I seriously doubt I could make 8 miles! Maybe in a month, but defo NOT today. I’m at 4 miles and that’s with 3 scheduled walk breaks for 2 min each. :faint:

Hopefully I didn't miss anyone this time around. If I did, so so sorry! Put it on my cheque

It's been a busy few days! My scale has not moved AT ALL in the direction I want. Despite all the hard work I've been doing, I've actually gained a pound since I last weighed myself.

However, today was a good day. Workout was a 6+ mile walk with the stroller. Food was ok. I came in within calories, but I ate a lot of carbs. Ahh well.

Tomorrow I have another long walk planned with some P90X.

Also, have you guys ever had weird cravings while losing weight and working out? I'm talking WEIRD. Tonight my mouth is WATERING over the thought of combination Pizza Rolls dipped in chocolate icing/frosting. How gross *should* that sound?! Of course, that fat bomb will not be indulged, but still. Melissa - Way to go on that 1.2 pound drop. Glad to see you have Mel's book on Square Foot Gardening. I have the original that I bought back in 1981 when I lived in Hawaii. I have been a Square Foot Garden enthusiest ever since.

Diana3271 - Thank you for always being positive, even when you are faced with health issues. You make my day better.

RachaelJ - I hope today was better than yesterday for you.

Zoodoo613 - Remember without the rain there would be no flowers or rainbows. Always been intrigued by your "Upstate New York" in your profile. I moved from Buffalo to Florida a year and nine months ago.
My son and my grandchildren live near Albany, NY.

Stacy - You said you were perfectly behaved yesterday. WOW!! I have never been able to say that.about myself ROFL

Jomatho - A huge congratulations on being overweight!! I wonder what a bystander would think if they heard me tell you that? ROFL I am a big fan of Mel Bartholamew's Square Foot Gardening. Your mother will love the book and she would be able to move her garden closer. Square Foot Gardening takes up a lot less space.

Jenfett - Welcome!! Sounds like you have an attitude for success. Good decisions!!

Diana in LA - I also tend to be low in calories. My target is 1500 but my 4 month daily average is much closer to 1100. I have found that I can eat a lot of healthy food and stay low in calories. My computer based program that I use is called "WEIGHT BY DATE" and I track everything Cals, Carbs, Fats, Protein, Sodium, Cholesterol, Vitamins, Minerals and I try to keep the mean monthly averages of each in a healthy range. That way I can eat lower calories than what some folks say I should and eat more food volume than folks that are eating far greater calories. Last but most important I am getting more of the necessary nutrients than folks who are eating more calories than I am. I can't prove it but I think that this has been the key to my weight loss. Since starting on the 6th of this January I have not splurged. I have had exactly two days over plan each one was in the 1800 calorie range, not much of a splurge.

Shishkeberry - Way to go!! Planning meals is a great way to stay on plan. I also weigh and measure EVERYTHING. I found out I was a lousy estimator of my food portions. I record everything I eat. This has helped show me a lot of areas that I was able to improve in.

Krystal - I hope your day was every bit as awsome as you had planned!!

Sum - I would never forget you. HI!! I get the impression that you secretly enjoy cycling your MIL up and down emotionally.

Novelistabac - Enjoy your trip!!

MzJuicyD - I find store brands are frequently as good or better than the name brands.

Andejean - Love those home grown tomatoes, They actually taste like tomatoes.

TXGirl487 - Welcome!! Great food choices and 3 miles? way to go!!

Aggie2006 - Welcome!! Congrats on the 10 pounds!! You are off to an awsome start.

Pint - 6 mile walk? Wow that is a lot.

My day was great. I went to Sarasota about 1 hour and 45 minutes drive South to be at a Shrine function. A lot of my friends from Buffalo were there and we had a great time.

1098 calories today on plan. A super low 640 mg of sodium!! My target is 2000 mg.

No exercise today unless you count non stop talking with friends.

I left before my weigh in time so will have to wait until tommorrow.

My DW brithday is tommorrow and she asked to go to Red Lobster looked online and my best choices seem to be be either the 1/2 order of Tilapia at 210 calories or the 1/2 order of Salmon at 270 calories. I will decide when I get there. I am definately staying away from those wonderfull cheddar cheese biscuits. There should be a law against them.

Hi Larry,

I haven't seen any werewolves, so the garlic soup must be working ;)

Here's the recipe:

4 cups low sodium chicken broth
1/2 c. white wine
14 whole cloves garlic
2 onions
1 large carrot, sliced
1 medium stalk celery, sliced

Combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook this on low heat for 10 - 12 hours to steep the garlic. If you cook it on too high heat, the garlic will turn bitter. After the slow cooking, put everything in the blender and puree it. Enjoy!

shishkeberry
05-18-2011, 12:51 AM
That garlic soup sounds awesome! When I was single, i used to bake cloves of garlic and spread them on crackers. Unfortunately, i'd end up eating a whole sleeve of ritz and smell like garlic for days, but I'm a woman that loves garlic!

I am making a personal note to this b/c there are so many commies I wanna make:
1. BOO to your scale! **Hits the "unlike" button!
2. Do you have Ab ripper X with your P90X? If so, do you utilize it? My trainer/personal friend is giving this to me as a "gift". I think I am in for quite a "treat" :s:
3. Never in my ENTIRE life have I ever craved Pizza with chocolate. :barf:
Actually, I can probably count on one hand how many times I've craved chocolate. Yeah yeah, I'm weird! However, I did eat Totino's Pizza with French Onion Dip on top as a kid!
The only craving I typically get since April 7 is for Merlot. Not even to binge as I did last Friday, but just for the taste. Typically, I'm good with just a glass, b/c I love the taste. Last Friday was just ridiculous, esp when I'm still trying to lose. May not be so bad once I make it closer to goal ;)

Hi everyone!

Zoodoo: lots of rain for us, too. Yuck! Congratulations on those small victories.

StaceyGee: It’s tough when the scale gets stuck like that. But you’ve come sooo far. That scales gotta move soon. And if you do have thyroid problems, that would explain the scale not moving.

Jomatho: congratulations on the category change :woohoo:

Jenfett: :welcome3: did you get your workout in?

DianaLA: You go, girl! You’re firmly in onederland now, aren’t you? :cheer2:

Oh, Sum, that’s really too bad about your MIL. That’s one thing about mine – she’s always been really good about things like that.

Novel: Enjoy your trip! I forget who suggested it, but someone said that they track their splurges. I wonder if you just track as you eat, it that will help. I’ll be thinking of you

TXgirl: :welcome3:

Aggie: A lot of people on this thread keep their calories quite low. I’d pass out at those levels. To lose weight I eat between 1800 and 2000 calories a day.

Berry: I hope you get some encouragement from your doctor, and that you find a new one whose a better fit . We have such a shortage of doctors in this part of Ontario that you can’t switch. If you quit a doctor, you are simply without a primary care physician . It’s resulted in a situation where too many doctors misuse their power. Oops, I got off on a rant there.

K9: congrats on the OP day

Diana3271: So that’s how you stay so consistent! ;) I like a lot of variety, but it’s a pain tracking the calories every day. However, my breakfasts and lunches are just a few different choices – maybe I can use some of your strategy.

Pint: you’re doing so well on the workouts. Could be muscle mass you’re gaining. Have you double-checked your calorie intakes and portion sizes?

Shishkeberry: Enjoy the soup!

Andejean: hope you get better soon. :getwell: One month is a long time to have a sinus infection.

It’s really, really late here. I’ll check back in tomorrow.

Berry good luck at the doctors!

krystal, Stacy and ZooDoo ~ tried the my fitness pal, and i guess because i put that i was moderately active i got a lot more calories that i can consume. at sedentary i got 1550 if i want to lose 1.5pds per week, and 1300 for 2 pds per week. i think i will try and stay there calorically. i think i can handle that. and as you said krystal, i wont eat my exercise calories and see how it goes. ive been eating 1600 and lost 2 pounds this week. but i exercised as well. i will see how this next week goes and reevaluate. thanks for the advice, myfitpal has a lot more food choices than fitday! (greek yogurt was not on fitday! hello! lol)

Larry~ i like your qoute!

roadbikerchic~ thats comforting...so far im ok at 1600. ive done 1200 cal diets, and couldnt stick with them. if i can lose, even slowly, then id prefer that and being able to stick it out. im really comfortable at 1600, i feel very satisfied, and never hungry. at 1200 i was angry and crabby,. and my husband was scared of me, haha....gonna see how the loss progresses for a few weeks before dropping the cals. good to see you were able to lose at 1800. are you very active?

Hey everyone! Big WOOSH for me! I'm at 171 for the second day in a row, down from 173!!!! Woo hoo! I've been working hard for this loss!

Thanks for all the congrats to DH. He graduated with his bachelors from Lawrence Tech University, which is in the Detroit area. He's looking at getting his MBA from MSU, though, which would be awesome. I totally have a husband again for at least nine months though!!

I have a very scary question for you all. I'm really considering becoming a stay at home mom, or at least lowering my hours at work to about 20 a week, to spend more time with little man. I was hired in at 20, but as they really liked my work, they've just slowly moved me up, and up, until I don't have much work-home balance anymore. My boss wouldn't even honor my dr's note for 25 hours a week while the cancer stuff was happening until I threatened to quit. After the radiation, she had promised me no more than 6 hour days/30 hours a week, but surprise! Here I am with my shortest day this week being a seven hour day, with some nines thrown in. I'm still sick, and tired, and not doing well. They are piling on more and more. I love what I do, I really really love what I do, but little man needs more of me than what he is getting. How do I do this? Have any of you made the work to home transition?

Thanks. I'm really worried about this.

I actually get out of work early today, so I will be back later for personals.

Wow, this is a really busy thread! Let's see if I can catch up...

RachaelJ – I hope yesterday was better for you, being sick is a horrible feeling. Hope you’re eating well and feeling great super-soon.

Zoodoo – Thanks for the welcome :) Amazing for you that your clothes are getting looser, I have days when I think they feel loose and then days when I feel like I’m bulging out again. As you say, small victories! Well done on avoiding the cookie and getting in 15 mins exercise, every little helps.

Stacy – Sorry to hear you’re stuck at 175, but I really admire your attitude. Deciding to make a healthy lifestyle change and staying positive is more important that numbers! I’ve been stuck at the same weight for the last 3 weeks, but I’m just glad I’ve not gained, and I’ve been really upping my workouts. Nothing on you though -
yoga, upper body & abs workout, 1 hour treadmill, AND spin all in one day! Wow!

Jomatho – Congrats on moving into the overweight category! Just think how much better for your health that is! I didn’t used to record splurges either but have been making myself recently. Knowing that everything that passes my lips has to go down on my food diary really helps me stay strong and avoid going totally out of control.

Jenfett – Well done on taking your gym bag to work, I hope you made it to the gym! Let us know how you got on – baby steps are the best way to get started, good for you for taking them :)

Diana LA – I’m not sure where all the new people (including me) have come from! I think maybe May is the time when summer dawns upon us and we realise we can’t hide behind winter clothes for much longer. Well done for your weigh-in, I’m glad it’s filled you with motivation and positive thoughts. No snacking today!!

Roadbikerchick – Wow, your garlic soup does sound mega garlicky! Tasty though. Over here in the UK you can buy pickled garlic cloves from markets / health food shops. They’re a great snack if you fancy something to pick at that’s really good for you.

Shishkeberry – Well done on making your meal plan for the week. I keep meaning to do that then never getting round to it. I’m going ok so far this week but it would be much easier to plan ahead!

Krystal – Glad to hear your awesome planned day was awesome ;-) I’m a grazer too and would really struggle to eat the same things every day. I have a rule where if I eat something high in sugar in the morning (lots of fruit, yogurt etc) then I’ll make sure my lunch / dinner has no carbs and healthy fats, like salad with chicken and avocado or a stir fry. If I’ve had eggs in the morning I’ll have a yogurt or cereal bar later, I find this really helps me keep the balance.

Kristiina – Sorry to hear your MIL is being difficult. That’s their job though right? Just kidding, it’s good to know that other people are more understanding. They’re the ones you should listen to!

Melissa – It’s good to hear you’re happy about checking in at the docs a healthier person, what a great feeling! I only check in twice a year, always with someone different, and they always nervously suggest I should ‘think’ about losing some weight! I’m waiting for the day that doesn’t happen! I’m jealous of all your gardening fun – I have a 12ft square concrete roof terrace that I’m struggling to keep a little veg pot collection on. I would love a real lawn!

Jo - I’m a really slow jogger too, I tend to feel ill if I try and speed up any. But I didn’t used to be able to jog for more than 5 minutes, now I can keep going for over half an hour so I feel like I’m making progress! Any improvement is a victory in my eyes :)

Novelist – Hope you have a great time away. Don’t get too worried about ordering in restaurants – always get a big green salad and look for steamed or baked fish, poultry and veg options. Good luck staying on track and try not to stress!

MzJuicyD – Sorry to hear about that rubbish man. He’s obviously missing out. Well done on your great attitude of moving on to the next one, there are plenty of nice guys out there who have the brains to go for great girls in all shapes and sizes :)

Andejean – Hope you recover from your sinus infection really soon, sorry to hear you’ve been poorly for so long. :hugs:

TXGirl487 – Amazing that you’re having a great week so far – keep up the good work!

Aggie – I try and stick to 1200-1800 cals a day. I definitely think you can lost weight on 1800 if you’re getting in a lot of exercise too, but 1600 is even better if you’re happy with that. As Larry mentioned – a lot of it is about what you eat – a huge salad can have the same number of calories as a biscuit but is a million times better for you.

Diana3271 – Hope all goes well with your attorney.

Pint Sized Terror – I’m really interested in the P90X, do you enjoy it? It looks so hard to me. I don’t have weird cravings so much, but I have a binging problem when I’d stand in front of the fridge and have some of everything, so I’d end up eating cheese, chocolate, ham, mushrooms, olives, crackers, cookies etc all at once. Not a good combo!

Larry – You mentioned you have a really low calorie intake but eat a higher volume of foods than others. What are some of your favourite low calorie foods that are part of your plan?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I went to my pump class at the gym, really pushed it and feeling the effect today, a great feeling! (if a little achey) Didn’t bring the gym kit with me today so going to have a rest day and then make up for it tomorrow.

Had a cereal bar as an extra snack yesterday, and a 1% milk hot chocolate before bed. A bit naughty but still avoiding any binges, fingers crossed for my weigh-in tonight!

WOW! The biggest post ever, I really need to get on and do some work now. Have a great day everyone!

Hey Nikki, I missed you off my mammoth post as it took me so long to write! sorry to hear your work's troubling you. I'm afraid I don't have any personal experience or advice to offer you, but wish you all the best in making the decisions, and I'm sure others on here will have more experience and be able to offer you kind words of support.

Yesterday 05/17
Breakfast: 2 slices turkey bacon, 1/2 grapefruit
Lunch: Sugar Free Jell-o, left over skirt steak about 2 ounces, black bean salad less than 1/2 a cup
Snack: Cheese Stick
Dinner: Broccoli Cheese Soup and Chicken Salad from Quizno (total Calories for dinner 725)
Excercise: 1 hour Brisk Walk

Being that Monday I over exerted myself, I still didn't feel totally recovered throughout the day yesterday. I opted for a light workout, so I just walked. I stayed within my calorie limits for the day, which I'm pleased about since I didn't cook dinner. I found the black bean salad recipe online and I must say I didn't like it, so I won't make that again. So I'll be back to green salads for lunch. :p

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you have a fantastic on plan day!

I am going to try to come back, when I get to work, to do some personals.

I've had another drop on the scale. I am in the 145 range. That's were I wanted to get. I am going to try to maintain in this range, with the idea that I will bounce up during TTOM, etc. I have started following my TF rotation more closely how it was written instead of doing more. On days that they have rest days, I will still do a workout. I don't feel that my, once 300-400 pound body is like a "normal" person's body. I think something changes once you are morbidly obese and/or you are obese all of your life. I have read about it, so I will just keep that idea in my head. I am not changing my daily calories, but I am making some changes at other times. Tonight will be the first change that I make. Today I am getting my hair cut and we are going to that Japanese restaurant that I like. In the past, I didn't eat the rice that came with my meal, I substituted vegetables. On this day, once a month, I will eat the rice. I will monitor the amount of rice they give me to make sure it's not way too much. The other change I have made is that, I have struggled on the weekends. Due to our weekend schedule, my meals are spaced out farther than they are during the week. Especially on Saturday, I find myself getting light headed. I have added in an extra snack (cottage cheese w/fruit or yogurt @150 calories). I did a lot better this past weekend. I only had to do this on Saturday. The whole idea here, for me, is that my weight loss has slowed considerably over the last few months. That tells me that I am eating/exercising close to what my body needs to maintain my weight. Based on that, I don't really need to make any major changes. I will make the small changes that I mentioned above and then analyze from there.

Either yesterday or today will be my last day for TTOM. We'll see how today goes.

Just a quick check in to say the scale moved again! Down .4. Maybe it didn't get the memo that I normally stall out this time of the month? whatever... probagbly means I'll lose less the second half of the month, but the only thing that matters is that I am chugging along.

SUn is out - so mulching today, of course!

diana32~ i cant wait to have your problem. to be at that point where i am finding what works for my body, and no longer needing to lose. i have a very long road ahead of me :( but reading your statement "being obese your whole life" kind of made me realize i dont want to be on this weight loss journey when im older. im 28, id like to see myself healthy and in shape still in my 20's. i want my 30s to be full of energy, and looking fab! one day at a time right?

Checking in for yesterday, I was very busy. Had the same exact meal plan as the day before (POP), I was just at a track meet instead of baseball game to mess with the timing of my meals :dizzy:. I did rest all day yesterday, and my joints feel better, but I feel so tired and blah today. Trying to find the motivation to workout right now. I don't want to do it, but know I will feel better if I do. I am currently half way to my monthly running goal, so I need to stick to my schedule of run three days, rest one day.
Berry, please send some of that sunshine my way! The wind has finally died down here, but we need some sun to warm things up again.
Back later for (hopefully) some personals, lots of great things going on with everyone!
Have a great non-blah day!

Aggie It is most definitely one day at a time! I feel that I have missed out on some things because of my weight. I have still lived a very full life and tried not to let my weight hold me back, too much. I have made the most of my life, that I could. I would encourage everyone to do that, no matter your weight. Live your life, to the maximum of your ability.

Of course my morning weigh in was 175 AGAIN! BUT- I know I am doing everything right. I'm not freaking out although it is a bit frustrating. I know I am eating well and I am going to give my body the time it needs to adjust. Today I will go to SPIN class and Pilates. I may jump on the treadmill or elliptical for the 30 min in between- or I might rest... we'll see.

----------------------------------------

Jo: Start your workout... once you get started you'll be glad you did!

Berry: Glad your scale moved down! YAH for you!

Diana: I think your planning for maintenance is so well thought out and reallistic. You are such a wonderful example to us all.

Milesaway: Is it BodyPump that you go to? I am going to start that when I am done with my trainer. It is a really popular class here. I guess I should be glad I am not gaining too. I've been working on this for a while so a major plateau was bound to happen. I love going to the gym and exercising. I don't even count spin class as exercise... I just go for FUN!

Still: I worked in human resources until 2001 and then I opened and ran my own store until 2005. Running your own business I thought would allow me more freedom but it really didn't so I closed it. I have some very special memmories with staying home with my first child at that time (she was born in 2004). We did tons or playgroups, zoo visits, childrens museum. It was a very special time. I was in a GREAT MOMS CLub that provided an excellent social netwrok. When I moved to where I lived now there was no MOMS CLUB and less activity options and staying home was very alienating. I think that is what provided me the opportunity to gain 25 EXTRA pounds. NOW though I am really feeling a pull to return to the work world. I feel like I am not done professionally. I am just worried about what type of job I can get and if it is worth it. My computer skills are not what they were and I haven't answered to a boss in 10 years. Just sharing my experience with you... not sure if it helps or not!

Roadbiker: You're right this is a frustrating plateau. After my second baby I was treated for hypothyroidism but after 2 years on levothyroxin my doctor took me off. He checks it periodically but everything has been normal... If this plateau lasts much longer I may go for a check.

Aggie: I don't know my fitness pal. I'll have to look it up. I the info helps you out!

Larry: I had many years of behaving badly... so I'll be okay with a day or two of being well behaved... you know what they say, "Well-behaved women rarely make history."

Pint: Good to hear from you!

Stacy - My class is called Power Pump, but I think it's basically the same thing as body pump. We basically work out with weights to music, going through all the major muscle groups. I started a few months ago and have upped my weights once since then. I still feel the burn the next day, it's a good feeling! I'm envious that you enjoy exercise, I hate every minute of it. Can't imagine in a million years I'd have fun at a spin class, good for you!

Phew! Weigh in--OVER for ANOTHER week! After all that smack I talked earlier about only going to meetings to help keep my friend accountable--it was an AWESOME meeting....I left there tonight TOTALLY re-inspired!!!

Way to go! You are doing so great - so consistently too!

The thought is sooooo tantalizing. I'm utterly confused over it. :dizzy:

That is really odd. I know there is a disorder for people wanting to eat nonfoods, but combining weird foods? Maybe you were just realllllly hungry and anything sounded good?

Melissa - Way to go on that 1.2 pound drop. Glad to see you have Mel's book on Square Foot Gardening. I have the original that I bought back in 1981 when I lived in Hawaii. I have been a Square Foot Garden enthusiest ever since.

Larry,

I am excited about it, but then, I just saw my parsley is all gnawed away and we have a pesky groundhog. I got a trap (a live catch trap) last night. Let's see if I catch the bugger! And when I went to RL, I got the salmon with a side salad (dressing on the side) and veggies and ate only 1 or 2 bites of the potato (and they encrust it with salt, so skip the skin if you get it). For all places to go out to eat - I found it one of the easiest to eat on plan - skipping the biscuits of coruse.

Hi everyone!

We used to live in Waterloo, ON and faced the same problem. A lot of it is the brain drain to the US. Doctors get paid more in the US, so they leave. I had a horrible experience with a miscarriage while we lived there and my husband had some oddball treatment when he broke his ankle - all because of lack of doctors - not universal health care - but lack of people to provide it!

First, congrats on your weight loss and to your DH for his degree. Now with teh job thing. If it was supposed to be 20 hours and she agreed to drop to 30... you need to talk or leave if you guys can financially afford it. My opinion of course, but that doesn't sound like a healthy environment - especially when they didn't even want to alter your hours when you were getting radiation? HELLO!!!

Sounds like a reasonable plan Diana and when you stop losing and don't gain (which will take a couple months to figure it all out, I'm sure), you will know you found the balance.

And yes, every time you think you have your body figured out - it changes - always!

Nikki, I'm kind of facing the same thing as you....we own our own business (a family-operated machine shop). My MIL had always taken care of the office stuff (most of it)...I began "helping" her in 2000. I have a 12 yr old and a 6 yr old. I was able to spend a great deal of time at home with my 12 yr old when he was little. However, 2 years ago, MIL decided to retire....which left me. I still only work 3 days/week....but with two kids and DH, I pretty much use my days off catching up on what I didn't do while I was at work....plus my stress level is such (with all the added responsibility) that I often find myself short tempered with my kids....or just almost totally tuning them out because I have so much on my mind. I don't have the option (unless I just wanna leave DH in a really bad place of having to find someone to trust to replace me at work) of spending more time at home......if I did, I certainly would! Your kids are only small once. If you miss out on it, you can't get those times back. It breaks my heart that I miss as much as I do with my DD. I NEVER missed a field trip, class party or anything with my 12 yr old when he was younger. I haven't been on a single trip or to a single class party with my DD this year. :( I have to say....I totally resent it. I've even told my DH that I resent it. And Grandma has become TOTALLY self-absorbed since retiring and REFUSES to spend ANY quality time with her granddaughter. (We've discussed this with her a few times...she promises to change, but HASN'T....because she doesn't want to.) Your kids are much more important than any stupid job where your best interests aren't considered......that's my opinion. :D Hope I haven't offended you or upset you.....I just feel really strongly about it in my own circumstance. I wish I had the option you do........

I saw a new low this morning.....197.4, fully dressed. :D :D :D I'm giving planning my meals out a shot....I like it a lot so far. Makes things so much easier! K9owner, thanks for being willing to give me that :kickbutt: ...I sure hope I don't need it! :D Still feeling REALLY motivated this morning.....hope it sticks!

Hope everyone has a completely on target day!!

Good morning everyone :coffee:

Hope everyone’s off to a good start today.

Still: Once your basic needs are met, more money doesn’t make you happier, and no one dies wishing they had spent more time at the office. Your boss sounds like an unsympathetic person. Wouldn’t even honor a doctor’s note? That’s awful!

Aggie: yes, I’m usually very active. This week, though, I haven’t done much. You might have guessed I really like cycling, but we’ve had sooo much rain here. We had the wettest April on record, and so far in May it’s the wettest it’s been since 2000.

Diana3271: way to go on 145. :carrot: How did you keep your motivation up? Now that I’m close to the end, it’s like my motivation has gone out the window.
Berry: way to go on the weight loss. :carrot: I wish I could be out in the garden like you, but we have rain again. Things are greening up beautifully, but I have no chance to get out there and tend to them. On the other hand, I’m not made of sugar, so maybe I’ll do a little this morning.

So here is my commitment for today. I will track what I eat – everything - and I’m going to work out for one hour. The weather’s not cooperating, but I’ll do something.

Oops, I started the personals hours ago, then got distracted, so I've missed all the posts since about 8 am. Oh well, BBL :D

Still, I have done both stay at home and work, a couple times  I worked full time for 12 years, home for 5, worked for 6 more years part time and have been home almost a year now. It is hard for moms because we have this need to be nurturing but have urges to be professional too (generalizing here). This last time back to work, I only worked 3 days a week and the reason I quit again is because I felt like life fell apart on the days I worked. Things get very busy and it is like DianaLa said, you feel like your head is spinning with all you have to do and remember. I was neglecting myself and going through the motions/just doing the bare minimum with the kids, the house, my health. I was also going to say something similar to what roadbiker said that when DS graduates from high school would you ever think to yourself "I wish I would have worked more"? No, if you continue to put in more hours than you are comfortable with, you will probably think you wish you would have worked less and spent more time with him. I have other issues too such as DH travels a lot and my kids have medical issues that I need to oversee 24/7, so it was really a no brainer for me, not sure why I went back in the first place. On the other hand, many, many women work full time or more and get through, so it is doable. I know it is a tough decision, but the only regrets I have are the years I was working and what I missed out on. Money is material. I can always go back when they are gone, or if needed, but for now I am happy with my decision. Hope that helps a little, I know it is hard!

Well, I did a 2 mile run today, the bare minimum. It will have to do for today. Not sure how a body gives energy for 8 miles one day and barely 2 another .
I still feel blah. . . Have to go get a few groceries and I don't even want to do that, ick.

You ladies have me seriously  this a.m.
I can't stay long. I have a date with my :tread:
He insists, but I am giving him a go at protesting--He's gonna win

I’m going to do a couple personals now, then later for more.

Still: I know so many moms who have opted to stay home and raise their children, it is really unbelievable! I will tell you, I have NEVER head any of them say, “I really hate I am choosing to stay at home with the children. As a matter of fact, it’s just the opposite! They love their SAHM lifestyle. As for me personally, I am mid-30s and have 2 K9s and I was working full time 3 (13.5 + hr shifts/nite) and now I just do 1 or 2. When they ask me to do more, I usually don’t. My health comes before taking care of someone else’s. I know this seems cruel, but if I can’t walk, I certainly can’t help you walk—or anyone else! I have had to do some major shaving of financial extras, but I really don’t miss it! Like, instead of a $60/month gym membership, I utilize my treadmill, the local parks, dvds, and such. We had DISH satellite turned off at $70/month and got Netflix $8/month—ok by me, I hate t.v. and never watch it. Instead of going out to eat 4-5x/wk, now it’s just on Sunday. Thinking back on it, going out 4-5x/wk is what attributed to me gaining 20+ lbs!
:bravo: on the woosh!!

Aggie: I seriously am so addicted to MFP it’s ridiculous! I never thought I’d be so obsessed with an app for my iPhone, much less an internet site! There is just something about it that has captured my mind for now. You can add me if you like. My handle is “chosengiver”. Also, there is a Texas girl on my friend’s list that is a personal trainer. Her name is Robin. She is FABULOUS! She has been a HUGE help to me and just everyone on MFP. She adds people to help “coach”. Check out her profile “trainerRobin”
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life" this is in a movie I’ve seen!!

MilesAway: That plan is exactly what I aim for each day! If I’m to carby in the a.m. I try to do an omelet at nite and vice versa. I have done pretty good cutting out a lot of the processed sugar, if I can wean off of these Dulce De Leche PowerBars my trainer friend introduced me to! OMGosh, so addictive! I seriously eat one almost everyday! If hot chocolate and a cereal bar is considered a “binge”, I think you’re OKAY!
Hope you have a successful WI!!

RachaelJ: Good Job staying within your calorie range!

Diana32: :yay: on the drop!! Maintaining is HARD! I found it’s best to have a range, a couple lbs under and over the initial goal. Fluctuations are defo going to happen. I just wish I was in that range again ((sigh)) I hope your changes produce the responses you are looking for!

Melissa: :yay: on your drop DURING TOM!! Hey, I’m not telling him to stall on you this month! :crossed: that cycle you’re used to is changing up a bit! ;)

Ok, off to :tread:
Have a fabulous OP day everyone!!

Hi Gang!!! :grouphug:

I am confirming that I am, in fact, ALIVE!!!!

As you all know, I’ve been dealing with some crazy stuff going on with vandals. Well, they got me for a 3rd time on Friday morning. 4 flats and now a cracked windshield. I have installed new and wonderfully bright motion-lighting at my house and the security camera will be going up early next week. The plan is to park my car back in my driveway and wait them out. I hope, hope, hope, HOPE that they come back again because then I’ll have them on camera. I am in contact with the detective for my case and a laision for the community police in my area. The PO PO can’t do much until I have proof. They all know about the lighting, camera, and my plan to catch them. I am ALL about catching them! I am so excited about it. I can’t wait to let them know that they picked the WRONG girl to f*** with. I am VERY MUCH Mother Lion again. I now feel like I am protecting my pack. I think it might be the neighbor across the street's older son. I think I might have a slight stalker/obssession thing going on. Maybe...:dunno: The cameras will tell me.

So with all of the drama of the last few weeks and especially the last few days, I haven’t eaten all that great. Not too many bad choices. Some days though were LOW on calories. I’m focused this week on planning my meals and working on getting all of my calories and water in for the day. But here’s my info:

13 no w/i
14 192.8 -.6
15 190.6 -2.2
16 192.6 +2.0
17 193.4 +.8
18 191.8 -1.6

I know you will forgive me for not doing personals. LOL I’ve been thinking about you guys and my need to get back here and update all of you. I’m hopeful that the offline craziness is under enough control so that I can get back to my online activities. LOL

Now I can get back to dropping more pounds. Too bad I had to spend so much time working off pounds i had previously lost...but o well, things happen. I never want to have to do that again so i'm really focused on staying on track!

B: Bowl of honey nut cheerios and banana
S: Spinach & Artichoke hummus with pita bread

TXgirl 3 miles/day is nothing to sneeze at! Way to go!
Aggie I eat 1600 calories - 1200 would be too low for me. Start high, and cut back. It beats starving!

k9owner, I'll take that :kickbutt: now.....but for the opposite reason!! I'm so stupid. I think I was REALLY OVERLY motivated. I ate a salad this morning and have had nothing else today (well, I'm eating some soup now) and I've gotten that shaky, panicky feeling. I've been busy around here (at home) playing catch up and just haven't eaten. :( :( :( I HATE feeling like this. Calories will be low again today, likely. Although I'm grillin' this evening.....mmmmmmm.....hope I don't end up going over. hehe

Andejean, hope they figure out your sinus issues soon. That's GOTTA be irritating!

MzJuicy, just pick back up where you left off.....you're already doing AWESOME!! Keep it up, girlie!! We can do this together!!

I am at 869 calories for the day... I just had a very late lunch, so hopefully I won't be overly hungry tonight :)

I ate too much at the banquet. I filled my salad plate with veggies, green salad and fruits...but I did add some blue cheese :( and creamy dressing. -- Luckily...lol..I have gluten allergy and I had to skip all the pasta salads.

I wish to shed 10 pounds in a month  I can do it if I stay focused! My trip will be a challenge. I LOVE Finnish chocolate and candy...I miss it and I tend to go a bit overboard when I get there...need to keep reminding myself to only have a piece or two per day.

Finns walk everywhere, and an evening walk is something everyone does; I am sure I will do fine what comes to exercise.

Hi Ladies & Larry!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days...I've been busy with school and went out of town for a few days. It was nice to get away, but not good for someone starting maintenance...I'll have to update my ticker.... I swear from Friday until last night it's been eat, eat, eat!!! We went to visit some family and we went out to eat for pretty much for every meal. Our hostess doesn't cook. I tried my best, but TOM didn't help either...I indulged too much and weighed in at 141.2 this morning. OVER my maintenance range! :nono: I'm so upset and disappointed with myself. I thought I had SOME willpower...guess not?! :( Today started out great but I went to my internship and we ended up going to a Chinese place for lunch. I got pineapple chicken and some rice. Not awful, but I can only imagine how many calories is in that stuff. :^: I'm keeping it light tonight with a salad and lots of water!! Tonight WILL be better and TOMORROW will be better. I refuse to have another bad eating day!!!!!

Enough about me...from what I read it looks like everyone is doing well!!! Congrats to everyone on their WLs!!!! :yay: Y'all are so awesome!!! :D

I gotta hit the books...have a great day!

I was just looking at swim suits. When I FINALLY get all this weight off, I'm buying a suit that fits right for the first time in my life. When you have large ta-tas that don't fit in normal size cups, NOTHING fits right.

I just tried on a suit that was too tight last summer and it fits fine now, but if I keep losing, it will get too loose by mid summer, but I don't want to buy an expensive suit for an inbetween size, but I dream of being able to order something in MY cup size. Stuffing F/G sized breasts into swimsuits designed for B cups, isn't all that pretty or fun!

Hi Everyone! It's after 11 and I am finishing up with everything. :( I need to hurry and get into bed.

TXGirl487 Hi and Welcome!

Berry We are making plans to go out of town for the Memorial weekend. The place we are staying has an indoor heated pool and whirlpool. I am so excited. I haven't been swimming in the longest time! The problem is the whole swimsuit thing. I went to Dillard's tonight. I showed the SA my body issues. I don't like the loose skin on my legs and I am really small up top. She looked at me and left. She came back with some things for me to try on. I swear she picked out the most perfect out fit for me! I love it! But I didn't buy it! I didn't want to spend that much money. I had them hold it though. I told my Mom and DH about it. They both rolled their eyes at me and told me I should get it. I will probably go back tomorrow and buy it. The bottom is longer swim shorts. They are fitted and look good on me while hiding what I want to be hidden. I can't find the shorts on their site. The top has shoulder straps. I didn't like the pressure of anything going around my neck. The top has a band that goes under the bust and it emphasizes my boobs to make it look like I have more than I actually do. Here's the top http://www.dillards.com/product/Caribbean-Joe-Zig-Peasant-Tankini-Top-Adjustable-TieSide-Bottom_301_-1_301_502569117?splashlink=w_tc3_swimwear I won't be getting the drawstring panty bottoms pictured. I don't even need a cover up since it covers what I want it to cover and I am totally comfortable in it. I will say this, I have had luck every time I go to Dillard's to buy something. I think the SA's there get special training to know how to pick out the best clothes for you.

Otherwise it was a fairly low calorie day for me - 1150 and 45 minutes of a mix of cardio and strength training.

If hot chocolate and a cereal bar is considered a “binge”, I think you’re OKAY!

Oh no no, a hot chocolate and cereal bar were extras that I shouldn't have eaten, rather than a 'binge'. I differentiate because I could easily put away 1000 calories on a binge. I haven't binged this week, and although I'm not eating perfectly, it's a small victory for me to have some control.

I can't seem to get through a day on plan, without having 1 or 2 treats. I know I need to cut out the treats as my weight has been stuck for 4 weeks now, but I can't seem to get through the day eating only healthy food!

I had a bit of a slip (again) last night, went to a gig and had a pint of beer and 2 whiskey & diet coke. Alcohol-wise that's not too bad for me, and my total cal for the day only came to 1600 but I still feel guilty about it today. I also had no time for dinner, so I had a packet of instant noodles and 2 small biscuits on the way out.

On a more positive note, I ran 5.5K this morning (just under 3.5 miles) in a PB time, and spent about 15 mins doing some resistance weights on my arms / legs. So feeling good so far today, here's hoping I can keep it up! Out for cocktails tonight though so not sure how I'm going to work around that. Any ideas?

Popping in to say good morning! Had an on plan day yesterday, but had a hard time figuring out the stir fry I made, should have kept the meat separate from the sauce and veggies to measure, but I did the best I could. I am very hungry this morning, so I think I could have been a little under. Plan to run again today, but still not feeling very spunky.
New low today, so close to the 180's! I feel like I am entering onderland again, I spent so long in the 190's, I am ready for a change! Maybe tomorrow! I saw 189 yesterday after my workout when I was dehydrated, but I only count my early morning weights.

Berry, I bought two tankinis back in January from Kohl's, they carry plus sized tops. Not sure of the selection they will have now in the stores, but I be you could find some online. I am very chesty too (8 inches difference between ribcage and boobs so depending on where you are looking I am a DDD, DDDD, E or F) I can't stand one pieces for the bathroom issue you mentioned, also you can pick your bottoms that way, I like the shorts because they hide the inner thighs and don't float up in the water. This is the first year in about 7 years that I have new suits and it was so nice on vacation to have something that fit and flattered me. Can't wait to open our pool!
Gaining, :yay: for the great day!
K9, :yay: for your great day too!

Woo-hoo! It means I really am a size 14 now as everything in size 14 I've tried on recently fits! Wow! Those last 10 pounds must have mostly come from the hips/gut area.

Berry, :yay: for the size 14's! I am taller than you and weigh less than you and I still fit in some of my 16s and a couple 14s! You brat!
Milesaway, :yay: for the no binging. Not sure how to help you on the coctails front. Maybe give yourself a calorie limit for coctails, like 300 or something and that's it, make them last. I love wine, but for the most part have given it up, wasn't worth the extra calories to me, but I know if I was going out, I would make room for a light beer or a glass of wine, just trying to avoid too many calories from alcohol.

Berry - Did I miss it? How'd the doctors appointment go?

Diana/Berry - It seems like everyone is in the bathing suit frame of mind. When I get some pictures ready, I'm going to post them here for advice. And speaking of advice, Berry, Lands End has lots of options where you can buy suits for specific bra sizes. Makes a HUGE difference.

K9 - Jealous of that weather. We still have nothing but rain. The friend I sometimes walk with at lunchtime just suggested we take up swimming instead. :D

Diana in LA - WTG! New low! Woo-hoo!

Stacy - If you know you're right, than the scale is just wrong, that's all there is to it. :D

Pint - I have weird cravings, but not that weird :D

Larry - I'm pretty near Albany too, about 45 minutes NW. We'll be in Estero, FL for a few days next week.

roadbikerchick - I'm totally making that soup! Mmmmm.

aggie - I use fitday and don't want to change because it's got info on me going back years, but you're right, the foods in there are oddly limited in someplaces and absurdly specific in others.

still - I've never had the opportunity to be a SAHM, but if you think you can pull it off, go for it. At the very least, you need to lay down the line with that boss of yours! You'll have opportunities in the future to do what you love again.

rachelj - Take care of yourself! You sense pushing yourself so hard that you can't keep going.

jomatho - Some days are just like that. And the weather doesn't help. You'll have more energy another day. I do a stirfry pretty often, and I never can tell how much I've eaten either. I just estimate the best I can.

vixsin - I hope you catch him/her/them. What an upheaval!

MzJuicyD - Congrats on being back down!

Sum - Mmm, blue cheese. :D I'm really looking forward to hearing about your trip!

Lindsey - I'm sure you did the best you could out of town. There'll be some bumps starting maintenance, but you'll work it out.

TXGirl487- You need to eat more, girl!

OK, I hope I didn't miss anyone!!

I sort of fell apart yesterday, although all told I ended up with about 1850 calories. Definitely high, but not insane. There are a couple of factors making me feel blah: the #@#%*& rain that just won't quit isn't doing me any favors. I've still managed to get bits and pieces of exercise on the elliptical at lunchtime, and I pulled out the wii fit plus and have been playing on that some, but I don't enjoy it as much as a walk or bike ride or working in the yard.

The other problem is that I've got almost nothing to do at work, which means time goes slow, I'm bored, and snacky. Not a good combo. This is an big issue I have at this job. My supervisor pays absolutely no attention to me and only a small fraction of my work comes from him. I've asked him if he has anything for me, and a few other people. I'll get a days worth of work and then go back to next to nothing. Yet last winter I had so much to do that I was working nights and weekends. I'm pretty new here, and the company as a whole isn't doing too well right now, so I don't want to make too much of a stink. But it is an issue I'm not really sure how to handle.

Diana3271, good morning to you! Loks like that rice/sodium wasn't a big deal after all! Good for you!

Jo OOPS! I normally forget to put my weight on this check in. :o I always put it on my weigh in thread. The sodium did jump on me. I'm up 1.4 pounds. It could have been the rice, since I don't normally eat that many carbs. Back on plan and back to business as usual. ;)

Grr! Back up to 192! Had a celebration this weekend and kind of pigged out on bday cake and rich food, so there's no surprise how this happened. Though, I did exercise a LOT this weekend, too, so I was hoping for some offset there. Boo!

On the plus side, all the walking/jogging I've been doing lately has, I think, started to reveal some visible progress on my legs. They seem to look a bit more toned. Not to mention, I feel a lot less stiff in both my legs and lower back since I've started this weight loss/exercise change. So, it's back to business as usual for me, too.

About to go have some breakfast (a grapefruit and a cup of green tea) and then tackle the massive weeding project that is my backyard. :p Hopefully a jog later, too!

Quick post to let you know the SCALE FINALLY MOVED! It weighed in at 173.2 this morning. Let's hope and pray it sticks! This has been a hard time! I'm off to the gym to try to take some power away from the scale and put some power in my own hands!

Hi All
So, if it’s not a tornado siren waking me up, today it’s my neighbor getting a new roof! And the guys that are doing it are banging every SINGLE nail in—one at a friggin time!
I need more than 5 hrs of sleep! River is having no probs sleeping right through it!

No :running: for me today or :dancer: for that matter :(
I have the P90X-Ab Ripper and some HIIT I’m doing instead.
Tomorrow is WI, and I will probably gain (buhu, I wanna cry)
However, I think I am losing like Melissa, as in around ovulation time, I will stall or gain a pound—then WOOSH. Push on some more, right? The numbers still don’t add up!

VIX: Gosh, that really stinks about all that vandalism. People can be so cruel. It wouldn’t be enough for me to have them arrested. They’d have to buy some tires, a windshield and ½ for the security system, +extra for endangering me & my family. Hey, a girl can have high hopes, right!

LINDS: :high: on the 4 mile run! Hey, whatever works to get and stay motivated, right??

MELISSA: I highly recommend a 2 piece separate! They have adorable skirts, shorts, skorts, and different tops which comes in handy when choosing the right one for the girls! It is bothersome to me with all of the selections around that busty women (me included) choose to walk around with the girls dragging around in a poorly-designed one piece. IMO, adjustable straps are defo the way to go—not the “one size strap fits all summer” deals—EWWE!

MILESAWAY: I am prob the LAST one to ask for advice on cocktails
I don’t really binge eat, but I am defo a binge drinker! Only advice I can even try to give you is this, “Stay away from the Pina Coladas!” It usually takes me 2 weeks to lose the pound or 2 I gain from Merlot (sigh) Such is the life! That’s even when I include it in the cals for the day too!!

JO: YOU GO GIRL on your running. I made a running ticker too, but I added it to my blog. I may add it here. I have been guestimating the miles and when to purchase new running sneakers, but I think I buy to soon. Hopefully the ticker will help me be more mindful of how many miles I am putting on them ;)

Kristiina: I so wish I was planning holiday across the little blue pond! You can defo lose that weight if you keep on track everyday! What a great challenge! Here’s a little :dust: to help!

ZooDoo: Hate to hear that about your job. This economy just stinks! Sorry to hear about all of your :rain: I so know the feeling! We are STILL rowing!!

STACY: :celebrate: :yay: on your loss! :yay: :celebrate: FINALLY!! :crossed: hoping it sticks for you!!

Back from the doctor's appointment which went over my blood work. Seems I made an 'oops' with the last appointment. Well, that and he didn't TELL ME... Seems they give you a check out sheet you are supposed to take back to teh front office. They then make an appt. for 3-4 months then and there. I then just need to plan my lab tests so taht they have arrived by the time I have that appointment. So, maybe I won't jump ship quite yet, but... I'm leary of this guy.

So, the appt. First, the lady who is his assistant is ALWAYS his assistant, so I think she remembers me from my super scary high blood pressure. Today it was perfect. My weight was 46 pounds less than the last time I was there in January. She said, "Wow! You've lost a lot of weight! Congratulations." And then I sat and sat.

Doctor finally came in and went over the results. He was quite pleased. Especially, he was pleased with the A1C results. He said, "These results are a dramatic improvement. You don't usually see such drastic changes. What did you do?" I said I ate low carb with no rice, bread, simple sugars and very light on pasta and potatoes. He looked at me and said, "see how much difference some exercise and changing the diet can radically change our medical situation. Look at you - you were out of control diabetes numbers and now with just eating differently and exercising, you are right on the cusp of normal (5.7 is top normal for that lab, I have 5.8... though I've read and anything under 6.0 is fine. It was 8.7 before).

So, I go back the end of August with new lab tests to go over. This time I'm not worried. I just have to keep doing what I'm doing which is easy enough because I feel SO MUCH BETTER and it's working and I'm not tempted to mess it up!

So that's that!

No, Jomatho andDiana in LA I definitely still fit in plenty of 16s. I have two pairs of 16s (not 16Ws) that fit me perfectly. The size 14 linen-like pants I'm wearing are 13 years old from a Laura Ashley store. I think they are Misses, but I could be wrong. The Land End Skorts and the the North Face athletic skort I have say 14, not 14W, so I'm assuming their Misses? For the Lands End I bought those at Goodwill so who knows. The 14 North Face skort (none elastic) are definitely Misses as I got those at REI.

Yet, I have ONE MORE PAIR of size 14s that are too tight to look nice. I can button them and zip them, but they pull too tight across the butt and thighs. Those are a Lily Pulitzer I got from Goodwill. They are Misses. They say for that size these are proper measurements: 33 waist, 43 hips. I have a 36 waist and 45.5 inch hips right now. Lands End size chart gives this for size charts: 34 waist, 43 hips. But I've always noticed I can be larger than their states sizes. When I AM those measurements, they are falling off me (or seriously baggy in the butt - I have a flat butt when not fat - just wide).

I'll have to take some pictures.

Stacy, thank you very much for the kicks, I did get myself down there and pounded out another 5 miles running and 1 mile walking (only counting the running this month), so I am super pleased with that. I was trying to make up for my low mileage yesterday. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy that your scale moved today :carrot::carrot::carrot:. You soooooooooooooooo deserve it!!! You go take control of that gym today!
K9, seems we have a theif on our thread robbing many of us of our sleep! Great idea with the ticker and the running shoes. I figure loosely that mine have about 200 miles on them. What is it, about 4-500 miles for the life of them? I can usually tell when I need new ones, I start to get shin and ankle problems. I feel mine are in a sweet spot right now, love em.
Claire, good for you for keeping up on the exercise even though your eating wasn't what you planned for. Just get right back into your eating plan, drink lots of water and you will be back down in no time.
Diana3271, sorry, I thought your ticker was a low for you, but it is probably another days number. Yup, right back at it to flush out that sodium. So has it hit you yet that you are MAINTAINING?????????? Wow! Are you going to post a story on the goal thread?
Zoodoo, I like the swimming comment, not a bad idea! Is there something else you can work on at work? Meal planning, recipe tweaking, writing letters. Something that looks like work, keeps you busy and takes your mind off being bored/wanting to snack? That would drive me nuts too, I like to be busy at work, but not too busy.

Ladies,

I want to get my mom some clothes... She is very short...maybe 4'10...and her weight is around 135 pounds. -- What size do you think she is...14 or 16 petite? I am 5'3 and 155 pounds and I am 10/12...

One thing Finland does not have...clothes for short and "round" people. Everyone is usually tall and thin.. So I tend to get her pants from Lane Bryant. She has lost around 50 pounds...

Sorry for the flabby arm shots! I have TERRIBLE arms - my arms and gut are my worst areas.

OK: First, me in the Laura Ashley pants - Size 14... hard to see as they are black, but you can see some bagginess in the butt:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g80/melissa_sinclair2003/laurashleypants.jpg

In the Lands End Size 14 skort. SLIGHTLY tight, but straight from the washer, so would probably be fine in an hour:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g80/melissa_sinclair2003/landsendsskort.jpg

And the definitely too tight Lily Pulitzer size 14 slacks/jeans. Maybe another 10 or 15 pounds:

Ah thanks guys. I reallllly hate the camera and bathroom lighting and an iPhone are not flattering, but one thing I DIDN'T do the last weight loss was to watch the progress on photos and I felt as fat at 185 as I did at 235 (my starting weight then). Why? Because I had the same imperfections - droopy stomach, big arms. I didn't take measurements or photos, so I couldn't see the transformation. And it IS a transformation. I still have (at least) 35 pounds to go, but I can see a HUGE difference with the 45 I have taken off already.

And yes... TAKE PHOTOS!!!

As for me!!!!! I woke up this morning feeling great!!!! I think it was my workout last night. It was my first workout with my cousin who has lymphedema. I asked her before we started how long she could normally walk without stopping and she said 5 mins. So, we walked together on the tread. I'm starting her on some interval stuff just to help build her endurnace. She ended up walking for 15 min! I was soooo proud of her! After that we took it easy so we wouldnt overdo it. I showed her how to do some lunges (without weights for her) and some simple exercises with hand weights. Then we did about 10 min on the bike followed by simple ab stuff using an exercise ball. This will be a challenge but i enjoy helping out as much as possible! She did great and I am proud of her!

This morning I weighed in and was still down (263.6) so I rewarded myself with a nice breakfast. I usually just opt for cereal since it's quick and easy, but lately i've been making an effort to cook breakfast.

B: Omelet loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives and a little cheese with 1 piece of whole wheat toast
S: Spinach & artichoke hummus with whole wheat pita bread
L: Turkey and cheese sandwich with white cheddar popcorn and banana
S: Oats & peanut butter fiber Bar
D: Rotisserie chicken with a bowl of turnip greens

As for exercise, I plan on going to the gym with my cousin again!

MZ Based on my walking history; I do 5.2 miles for 68 minutes. I average around 4.5-4.7 mph, if I really get my legs moving I have done the loop 4.8 mph....Each mile in 12:30 -13.00 minutes.

Melissa Yep, I will ask...she is shaped like me tho...we have a big belly :(

Jo I am dying to see the pictures. I thought you looked great last time. We also need pictures of DianaLa now that she is in 100's.

Hi all.

I think I've entered another one of the famous Freakish Whoosh cycles. I'm down 1.4 to 190.4. I've revised my May goal to 189. It felt super ambitious in the beginning of the month because of how slow April was for loss but I feel ok adding 1 more pound now.

Nothing new on the drama at home except that I am now focused on making Maxwell feel better and finding time to do fun things with him. He has really been effected by this over these last 2 weeks since I have been busier than usual and more stressed out. He and I need a SEVERE dose of fun STAT!!!! I hate how this is bothering him. I am going to do a fun supper tonight and then we can work together to straighten out his playroom downstairs since my new treadmill (yes, the ONLY high point from last friday!) is there now. I think I am going to surprise him and pick him up from school and take him rollerskating tomorrow. He's been wanting to do that recently. I don't know. I just feel the need to focus on him to show him that we are ok.

Holy Crap, I went back to look at those photos, who is that girl with all those rolls! I am wearing the same pants as in the last two pictures right now and they are practically falling off me! The shirt and jeans from the first two photos are unwearable, way to big. Haven't tried on that tight red top again, maybe I will do that today. Here is the link if you all want to look at the fat me. I am so motivated now, I just want to shout out the windows that I have lost 40 pounds (well, almost, hehe)!!!!

So i'm back!

I feel like i have been gone forever, but i guess its only been a week. And i think that having to read through 14 pages of posts that i missed is enough to convince me to not do that again!!! Sorry i have been MIA, i just havent been feeling it. I want to stay honest on here so i'll say i had a moment of weakness where i was just totally over the work needed to stick it out so i took a little break. I wasnt terribly off plan but i just stopped counting calories. And i blame it all on last weekend when i went out to dinner. I just dont have the will power yet to do it once and move on so i'm not doing that again for a while!!!

Havent worked out in a week either but i've been just thoroughly exhausted with some huge financial burdens i've got going on. Its looking like i might have been offered a job though so HOPEFULLY tomorrow ill bring good news that will kick start my re-entry into getting back OP. I havent touched a scale in a while so i will be weighing in on Sunday to see where i'm at and going from there! Work outs start again on monday and...

NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

i so badly want to do this i just need to stop defeating myself and take it one day at a time! I will succeed!

So i've decided to torture myself... haha. By that i mean, i have decided not to cut my hair until i reach my ultimate goal! I normally wear my hair quite short but was talked into growing it out and i guess i did because i gained a lot of weight in my face. So aside from a trim from time to time, i will not allow myself to cut my hair short until i reach my goal! And then and only then, will i cut my hair off and wear the nice short cut that i miss so much!! Anyone that knows me knows that is motivation enough!!! haha

Other than that WELCOME to all the new peoples! All i can say is be sure to post on here as often as possible, it really does help! I missed it when i stopped..

And i would go on and on about everything that i read but it would take forever so congrats to those doing well, and hang in there to those that are struggling like me!!!

Sorry on phone...
I've been having a kick *** week. I made sure i've walked at least half an hour every day this week though my goal was 40 min a week! I felt good, so why stop? Even on that rainy day i walked around a store for an hour or so. Been eating really well, too and drinking my water. I had a little juice yesterday and the amount of sugar almost made me gag. I'm feeling super positive this week.
But i've been worrying about the loose skin thing when i hit goal. I'm poor so i doubt i could afford surgery. :(

Wednesday 5/18
Breakfast: mini quiche, 1/2 a grapefruit
Lunch: Chicken Pablano Soup
Dinner: Taco Salad (homemade with pico de gallo and 1 dollop of sour cream)
Snack: Fruit Popsicle
Excercise: p90x Kempo
100 ounces of water

Yesterday I stopped at the grocery store and was drawn to the dessert section. They had a key lime and kiwi cupcake that I bought but youll be glad to know I didn't even eat it. I tasted the icing and immediately threw it away. It was nasty.

I'm feeling like there isn't any weightloss yet this week because of TOM. I'm tempted to get on the scale but scared I'll be disappointed if I haven't lost anything.

Have had 582 calories today, so far. We grilled last night and had leftovers so that's what we're doing for supper tonight. I can still have 515 calories today. Not feeling well today......took pain meds last night for a sore hip and I'm VERY groggy today....I keep zoning out at my desk. BUT I WILL go for a walk today. Hubby and I walked 1.25 hilly miles Tuesday. It felt GREAT!! Didn't go last night because of sore hip. Can't wait to do it tonight. :D :D :D

Okay, back to work for me. :(

Back ladies. I feel awful that I'm only checking in every other day (or longer) but even Facebook is suffering from neglect at this point! I'm so frikin' busy.

For those asking about P90X: I do like it, and yeah, it is kinda hard. The thing that's nice about it is that there are no set reps. He doesn't say, "Ok, now give me 50 pushups." Instead, you set your own reps, focusing on form. If you can only do 3 pushups without losing form, do 3. Next time you push for more. You are constantly trying to beat your last performance. I use workout bands instead of weights and I have a pullup bar that fits into a doorway. Ab Ripper X is... I can't even describe. It's DEFINITELY a good workout for the abs. My favorite butt-kicker workouts are plyometrics, ab ripper X and kenpo. Yoga is my favorite recovery workout.

Roadbiker: Yeah, I have been watching portions and logging calories. I'm not eating any more than I was before upping my workouts. DH says it has to be muscle. He said I'm looking more fit, but my pants aren't getting any looser and the scale isn't moving, so I don't know. It's frustrating. I may need to reevaluate my diet. I'm stuck. I want no part of giving up. I have to work out at this point, it's part of my every day life now, but I'm also frustrated beyond measure. I didn't even have any cake or ice cream at my son's birthday party. UGH.

For everyone else: I am so happy to see everyone coming in with good news and losses! I hope to be joining you soon!

Sometimes getting back in the groove is hard, but a lot of time all it takes is ONE workout - or ONE really good day and it gets you right back at it. You can do it!!!! And checking in is a positive sign that you will!

Yay for you! Try not to worry about loose skin. What's worse? Loose skin or flab everywhere? The answer is FLAB! And you never know. I've lost 46 pounds so far and I'm not noticing any loose skin. And even if you do get it, it WILL shrink up. Some people it shrinks up completely. Others not all of it, but much of it. Clothes hide it too.

Yay for throwing it away! Next time - just walk right by!!! And weigh yourself when you're ready. There's no reason to do it if you don't want to. Just keep making positive decisions and the scale will catch on.

Sorry work is at a lull - boredom is certainly a trigger for me to eat. maybe find something fun to work on that you can take to work. Or find a mini project that makes things more efficient.

And I updated about my doctor visit and I have some swimsuit news to share in a bit.

Jo OOPS! I normally forget to put my weight on this check in. :o I always put it on my weigh in thread. The sodium did jump on me. I'm up 1.4 pounds. It could have been the rice, since I don't normally eat that many carbs. Back on plan and back to business as usual. ;)

You know it's water - it will come off.

Claire

Birthdays happen. it's what you do inbetween those times that counts. You'll get there!

Quick post to let you know the SCALE FINALLY MOVED! It weighed in at 173.2 this morning. Let's hope and pray it sticks! This has been a hard time! I'm off to the gym to try to take some power away from the scale and put some power in my own hands!

When you lose you like NEVER lose .2 or .4. You go for whole pounds! yay you and I hope it sticks or adds more to it tomorrow!

Hi All
So, if it’s not a tornado siren waking me up, today it’s my neighbor getting a new roof!

The body just doesn't follow what the books say -but you know if you keep doing what you're doing, you're bound to lose!

Same all over Europe. I wonder if that's changing though as Europeans are adopting more and more of the American lifestyle.

I have no idea how to guess her size though, sorry!

Berry! ~ i like the tight pants on you! they dont look to tight to me!

zoodoo~ i went back to fitday because i liked how it lists all the vitamins and minerals you consumed, and the wheel that breaks apart your carb/protein/fat ratio...i just lowered my activity level to stationary to get a better calorie estimate for the day.

yesterday was a tough day for me, almost fell of the wagon, i had such an emotional/this is too hard/feel sorry for myself day. i got so frustrated, that i just went to bed early so i wouldnt eat! im glad i stuck it out, bc im 1 pound down this morning :) i went to curves and got my butt kicked, i like this curves bc you can stay as long as you want, and the ''rest'' stations they do different aerobic exercises. my heart is definately pumping the entire 30+min! then me and DH had a nice light dinner by the lake. we recently got an amazing nanny, thanks to her i can go to the gym, and out with hubby, she is a blessing! just needed to share!!

i have a question. when i track my calories, it also tells me my vitamins/minerals. some days im low on a particular vitamin, but then the next day i have a double dose. is that ok? or do you need for instance 100% of your daily calcium everyday. or can you have 50% one day, and 150% the next and it balances out. any ideas?

Went to Kohls and got a second suit. This one I could wear in my yard and mess around with the kids and the sprinkler and not feel self concious. It's not on the Kohl's site, but I found this top which is the same - just mine is blue accent, not red: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_017B8945000P?sid=IDx20101019x00001h&srccode=cii_16776730&cpncode=00-1678718-2 And these shorts (you guys are right - those shorts with underpanties built in are WAY flattering!): http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_017B9138000P?sid=IDx20101019x00001h&srccode=cii_16776730&cpncode=00-1679933-2 So all together it looks something like this: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=81006&CatID=81006&Grptyp=ENS&ItemId=1b9f74e&cm_mmc=ShoppingFeed-_-Shopping-_-Women-_-Zero%20Xposure%20Zero%20Xposur%20Action%20Tankini% 20or%20Short&srccode=cii_13736960&cpncode=00-1680907-2

stacy- Yay for the break in the stall! Yay for 173!!!

Melissa- What fantastic pictures! You are working yourself right into a perfect hourglass figure! How gorgeous! Also, so glad to hear about your great doctor's appointment!

aggie2006- hi!

pint- you sound so frustrated. Could it be that as you exercise so intensely, your body is holding on to water weight to repair your muscles?

Diana (LA)- I can't wait to see your new pics!

Dtermined- Sounds like you have a plan! Just keep going, keep your head up, and forgive yourself for the past week. You've learned something invaluable from it- that you can't jump off plan quite yet without falling off. Every time I went totally off plan or stopped counting, it taught me something really important about how and why I lose weight.

jomatho- Holy cannelloni, lady! What a huge difference in the first 22 pounds! Definitely post pics now that you are 40 down! You are so inspiring!

Vixsin- Yay for your woosh! Have fun rollerskating with Maxwell tomorrow!

Sum- man, you are quick! Sometimes I kick the treadmill up to 4.7 MPH and I can barely catch my breath!

MzJuicy- I'm so glad you are feeling so motivated!

K9- hi!

Claire25- hi! Yay for all the exercise you are getting lately! Birthdays are my downfall as well... all that yummy cake and ice cream. :^:

Diana3271- hi! Drink your water and the evil soy sauce weight will drop off. I have a friend who always gets the low sodium soy. I haven't tried it yet. She calls it "low octane soy sauce" :D Your bathing suit top is totally cute, BTW!

themilesawaygirl- hi!

Larry- hi!

roadbikerchick- hi!

Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes on my job situation. I'm going to keep stewing it over, and start separating my paychecks from our checking and stowing them away, to get a sense of what our finances will look like should I not work at all. I anticipate by the middle of the summer it'll be done, one way or another.

I have been awesome at staying on plan lately. Scale read 171.0 this AM, so maybe 170 is around the corner. And after that, the 160's! :D:D Yesterday I didn't get to work out, but tonight I am definitely hitting the gym. I can totally feel muscle under the fat layer on my belly, which is exciting.

I've been having some emotional issues with weight lately. This is the first time in over four years that weight loss has been considered healthy for me, not a sign or symptom of illness. My thyroid started going intermittently overactive while I was pregnant with my son, and since then, every time I've lost weight its been because my thyroid was overactive and I needed to be medically treated. It was so frustrating because at points I was trying so hard (exercise, eating well) and yet, the only time I lost weight was when I was "sick". I felt like I was being cosmically punished for trying to be healthy. So this is the first time in over four years I've been anywhere near a healthy 170. And I know this time its healthy, a result of me taking good care of myself. There is no way this can be illness related. So I'm proud, very proud, but still kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Here's hoping you are all have fabulous, on plan days!

Yay for the drop on the scale! And I'm sure this is a very emotional time! You found out you had cancer. Had to go through treatment to kill your thyroid to make you hypothyroid and now you are getting that all figured out. One thing you KNOW though is that hypothyroid doesn't make ANYONE lose weight - gain - possibly, but never LOSE. You ARE doing that all on your own and you have every reason to be proud of that! I think you are just awesome!

No time for personals today.

It is 9:04 PM and I have only had 883 calories. Will try to up that a little but I do not want to eat a lot before bedtime. My sodium is 1814 mg which is in my plan of 2000 mg.

Walked about 3/4 mile.

Scale is hovering around 238 but I am not changing my ticker yet until I am sure.

Berry You are looking great!!

Hi Everyone!

I just got home! I have been getting home and into bed late every night this week. I don't like not having time for personals! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to keep up with everyone. I know I will have more time this weekend.

I bought the swimsuit! Last night I also went to Belks. They had the same suits on sale for 30% off. The people there were less than helpful. I definitely didn't want to spend my money there. I went back to Dillards tonight where they were holding my swimsuit. I told them that Belks had the same thing and they are having a sale. The Dillards SA called Belks to confirm it was the same. I got it for 30% off along with great service. I am a happy camper! Or should I say soon to be swimmer.

Berry & Jo I love the new pictures. You both look fabulous!

Ab Ripper X  Only made it through some of this! My back can’t tolerate some of the positions, and
I desperately need a spotter on the side positions raising your legs off the floor :D Good ab workout
though, but glad it was given to me. I’d be upset if I had purchased this!

Approx 2 hrs of HIIT--but not all at once.
Unsure how many cals I burned, but defo more than I ate probably!

I have learned a lot from this day! The main thing being, “I MUST DO MORE CORE!”
Cardio is awesome, but when it comes to floor work, plank, and strengthening exercises….I just don’t
have IT! That’s ok, this has given me newfound inspiration! I  that!!

:goodscale tomorrow! Maybe I'll get lucky and plateau instead of gaining!
Who ever thought I'd use "plateau" and "lucky" in the same sentence???

Morning all! I think I'm buying my bike today! Woohoo! Back down .8 after that high sodium day. So, returned to my low of 209.4 Man, I can't wait to get out of the 200s. Even though I have almost 10 pounds to lose, I can TASTE it... It's like tantalizingly close!

Got a nice walk in last night before the rains came (again). And I got a glucose meter at the doctors office so I can check to see what foods might be triggers for me. Last night was the first trigger food to try - Quinoa. It's a grain, but not known to spike sugars in most people with sugar issues. Count me along with that. My 2 hours post eating quinoa test was 80! I need to call my insurance company about what I need to do to get the test strips covered (they are - but I don't know if I have to ahve it by prescription or can just go and buy it). I don't expect to be needing them a lot as I have controlled my blood sugars completely by diet, but I might have given up foods that I don't need to. Or, I might still be eating some foods give me spikes that I should do without. Basically, I want more information so I always feel confident about what I'm choosing to eat in that it's not harming my body.

Oh, here's an NSV. My husband was holding me last night as we were falling asleep and he was grabbing my arm. He said, "I don't even have to see you to know that you are smaller. I can feel the difference." Well, I sure hope so, but it felt good to hear.

Good morning, checking in quickly. Still hovering at 190, just looked at my cycle tracker and I am entering the ovulation zone so who knows what will happen this week. DH will be out of town for a couple days now so I will be able to eat lightly and at more reasonable hours, although we do have a baseball game tonight so that will mess me up a little again. Not even sure I have snacks to take today. Protien shake will have to get me through and maybe a salad when I get home, something light.
Thanks for the comments on the pics everyone and thank you to Melissa for clarifying those are old pics, the old fatter me when I was 207. I am now 190 and will post when I get to 187 which is halfway. Can't believe I ever let myself get to that point. Who did I think I was foolin? Only myself, I guess.
Not much time or energy this morning for posts, but a few stand out:
Melissa, love your new suit, doesn't it feel amazing to wear something that fits and is flattering, even though you aren't in the body you want yet? I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy a suit.
K9, love your avatar, you are so pretty! I am with you on the weak core. I hate all core work, hate it! This will be my focus when I get closer to goal, right now I still feel like I have too much weight getting in the way.
Diana3271, :yay: for the swimsuit and the pricematching, I love doing a little research and getting a good deal! When did you say you were leaving on your getaway?

I love my bike Berry. -- I like riding it to stores etc. -- Congrats :)

K9 I wish I could do core more...I simply hate it..lol...maybe that is why I have all this mess around my mid section  -- Seriously I can walk forever, I can do arms and legs...but core..ugh!

Diana Congrats on well fitting suit :carrot: -- And bravo for getting it at such good deal

Larry Great calories!

Still My thyroid went "bad" after I had my daughter. It went on override and I was back size 2; 8 weeks after daughter is born. Then it slowed down, drastically. I guess it went nuts before it gave up.... now I am on 200mg of Synthroid, and thyroid is basically dead. -- Over the years, I have struggled being tired, under medicated, weight gain, loss of eyebrows...etc. -- It is a very frustrating journey.
Are you taking synthroid?

Angie hmm... I don't know. Some of the vitamins just flush out of your system if you have too much.

Lindsey Am I going to start my nagging? :D I am sure you have tons of water weight. -- I can fluctuate 5 pounds between two days....

I slept pretty well last night, although I went to bed too late. I feel good this morning. I dropped .6 of that evil sodium from my Japanese meal. I don't change my ticker when I have bounce ups from sodium, etc. If the bounce up hangs around for a time, I do adjust then. Current weigh in: 146.4

Morning,

Finally a beautiful day! We have our bandbooster golf outing fundraiser today. I am sure the course is wet, but atleast it is not raining.

I will have a busy day ahead of me. I am helping out on the course, and later on setting up the silent auction.

Husband and son are both golfing, Son is excited that he got to skip today.

As for me, I had nice on plan day 1300 calories and my walk. I am going to walk this morning. I will do a shake for bfast and lunch, because I am eating at the club tonight after the golf outing, and it is fillet mignon meal... I am sure my dinner will be 1200 calories.

Tomorrow I need to finalize my shopping for my trip, and pack. Excited!!!

Have a fab day!!!

Sorry I never made it back in yesterday....came in at just over 1200 calories.....which is okay because I've been terribly low in calories since Monday.

We all seem to be doing sooooo well this month....I think after almost all of us having mediocre-to-bad Aprils, I think we're all determined to have a GREAT May! That's awesome! :woohoo:

Takin' the kiddos to school......BBL!! :D

I don't remember if I mentioned where we are going next weekend. I'm going to copy and paste from my other check-in:

We are going back to the NC mountains for the Memorial weekend. We will be taking Magnum and staying at a pet friendly hotel. They have an indoor heated pool and a whirlpool. I am totally excited about that. http://www.biltmorefarmshotels.com/qualityinn/gallery.aspx They have a picture at the bottom of the pool area. We will be going on the Great Smoky Mountain train ride. The train ride is 44 miles. They have a layover and we will have a picnic lunch. http://www.gsmr.com/index.php I also made reservations to eat at the new Paula Deen restaurant at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino.

WHEW! I can't believe the 173 STUCK! So now I am official! (You know I make it stick for two days before I count the loss). I wasn't sure b/c last night I had a power crunch and a very small bowl of cereal and was just over 1500 calories for the day... but I was STARVING. But it stuck and I am so relieved!

Jo and K-9: I had noticed my core was so weak. I've been going to pilates two times a week for about 3 weeks and already noticing a difference. It doesn't take long to strengthen those muscles. Pilates is so easy too. You don't do the moves for very long it almost surprises you that it works.

K-9: I was so happy to see your avatar. You are beautiful!

----------------------------

Today is one of my favorites days at the gym. I'll spin from 9:45-10:45 then Pilates from 11:30-12:30. If I feel good in between I'll do the treadmill for a bit. I am trying to spin every other day b/c I have noticed recently that if I skip a day I work even harder in the class. Maybe for a while when I was doing the 2 a day workouts it made me plateau. I might have been overdoing it. It is just that I get this feeling or self satisfaction at what I am now capable of. I haven't figured out though how else to apply it in my life. I guess I need to take Berry's example and work in the yard... or just clean the garage out... I don't know.

Thursday 5/19

Breakfast:1/2 grapefruit,boiled egg
Lunch: Taco Salad left overs
Dinner: Mixed Veggies and Sauted Chicken Breasts
Snack: 1/4 cup Craisins
Excercise P90x Cardio
Water: 100 ounces

Thursday was a busy day. I ended up working from home because my daughter had a double ear infection. Not fun for me or her. She also had an end of the school year award ceremony which she insisted she attend. So we did that, ventured to the doctors office and finally made it back home.

I've decided to wait until Monday to weigh in because I'm scared that I haven't lost anything this week.

Well yesterday was a right-off. Any shred of self-control I had went out the window and I consumed enough calories to feed a family for a week.

Jo Your idea about limiting the cocktails to 300 calories was a great one, and would have been fine if I'd only had 1/2 cocktails! I didn't, I had 6 and a shooter.

Wow, your pics look great, way to go! I'd love to get close to your fitness levels, I'm pretty sure I couldn't run 5 miles AT ALL at the moment. I think I definitely need new runners though, had mine about 10 years and get blisters every time I run for more than 10-15 mins.

K9 I took your advice and stayed away from the pina coladas (and the ice cream cocktails!!!) but STILL managed to rack up 1480 calories just in drinks. To think I used to drink that much 3 or 4 nights a week is frightening.

Zoodoo I struggle to get my work done in the day because I have such a short attention span for work! I'll spend hours looking at recipes and filling in my food diary (and posting on here!) and then have to rush to get my work done. Like Jo said, those kind of things can take up your time in a productive way, and help to distract yourself from snacking! Also, keep dropping hints that you have free time. In my office my colleague often asks if anyone needs help with anything, and even if they don't it makes him look good!

Claire Glad to see you're back with a great positive attitude. Hopefully I can get over my slip up yesterday and move forward like you. Hope you had a great day!

Stacy YAAAAY so glad the scale moved for you!

DTerminedOne Good for you for sruggling through. I'm struggling loads at the moment and it's reassuring to know that I'm not alone, and there are so many great people here for support.

Rachael Well done on throwing the cake. I can never bring myself to throw away food, it must take a lot of inner strength!

Aggie I'm pretty sure your vitamin levels can be different each day, as long as it roughly averages out over the week. Just keep an eye out to make sure there's nothing you're constantly deficient in and you'll be super healthy!

Still Well done at being awesome staying on plan, I wish I had your willpower! Quite right for you to be mega proud of yourself, you are such a strong an inspirational lady :)

Diana3271 So glad you bought the swimsuit, and well done for getting the bargain! You'll look great :)

I'm still angry at myself for eating and drink sooooo much yesterday, but thanks to the wonderful support here I'm determined to put it behind me and make sure I work out extra hard and eat perfectly over the weekend to make up for it. I'm off to get a tattoo this afternoon so will need some sugary candy to get me through that, but I'll stick to healthy meals from now on. Week 1 of my 3FC biggest loser 12 week challenge started this week, so now I've got some healthy competition to keep me on track!

Hope you all have a great day (sorry if I missed anyone out!)

Up .4 this morning to 190.8. I didn't get enough sleep last night so that's what I'm blaming it on. LOL

Fun was had with my Maxwell last night!! Dinosaur chicken nuggets for supper. I drew him a picture of us at work yesterday and gave it to him this morning. He was THRILLED!! He was so surprised that I drew that for him. I'll take a picture of it and post it. You guys will love it! I am so NOT an artist!!! LMAO

I'm picking him up at school and definitely taking him rollerskating this afternoon. We are both excited. I feel better about my boy. There were many easy smiles this morning and that made me feel really good!!

Will check back later and do personals.

ThreeMilesawayGirl: The will power to throw that cake away only became easy because it didn't taste good. This week has been a struggle with the temptation for sweets. But considering, I'm making some good choices.

Ya know, it's amazing to me that I have lost 37 lbs and have to still lose 25 more before I am overweight and no longer obese. Sometimes being short REALLY stinks. :( :( :( Of course, that just means I WAS REEEAAAAALLLLLLLY overweight before and am not as much so now....or that's what I'm tellin' myself. :D The way you view things effects your reaction to it, for sure. Thinkin' of having to still lose 25 lbs to go from obese to overweight makes me wanna throw in the towel....not because I can't do it, but because I've been workin' on it for 4 1/2 months now....and still have LOOOOOONG way to go.....but then I think about my goals......by August 23rd, I'm hoping to have lost down to 180....only a few more lbs after that to get out of OBESE and into OVERWEIGHT. August doesn't seem that far away, for sure! Oh well, at any rate, I ain't stoppin' now anyway so I guess it really doesn't matter HOW LONG it takes me to get there, as long as I do in fact get there. :stress:

Okay, gotta get ready for work. Have a GREAT on target day everyone!! BBL!!

I hate the whole BMI thing. Why? Because even at my ideal weight (which is about 165 - I'm aiming for 175), I would be considered overweight. I will get a calipers test done when I'm at 175 to see how much 'fat' I really have left on me.

So, imagine how it feels to be a truly big boned person (I cannot get my fingers around my wrist - that kind of big) and to be called 'overweight' when you are at a healthy weight for you. Or, how unfair it is for someone to be considered normal BMI, but they are small boned and actually could stand to lose 10-15 pounds.

I hope they do away with the whole BMI thing right quick. it's why when I was 15 I felt so fat. I was a swimmer (swam 3 hours a day). was 5'5" (I grew more later) and weighed 145 pounds. According to charts, I was overweight. I was THIN!!!! But, everyone else I knew weighed 120 or 125. SO I felt fat. NO ONE ever said, "Oh, you are built big, so you will weigh more and that's OK."

At least my mother in law gets it. She's 5'6" (used to be 5'8"). She weighs 169 now and is a bit chubby. I will look svelt at that weight - small frame versus large frame. She already thinks I look perfect (ha!) and understands that I'll always weigh more and wear bigger sizes because of the way I'm built.

I may do some personals later, but stacy, that news can't wait! WTG! That's so great!

I've been struggling a lot this week, and I'm not sure why (aside from the work and weather issues) and it has me nervous. The behaviors aren't too far off, but the attitude is. I was an emotional wreak last night. I was mad at my husband for letting my son have a friend over (I had my reasons) but my response was way overboard. I was in tears.

I rode my bike to work today, but I felt like I was just going through the motions, not excited about it the way I usually am. Ugh. And then a vendor brought in bagels after I'd eaten breakfast. I was all set to snag one and save it for lunch and instead, I just ate it then and there.

I finally found someone to give me some work yesterday, and as always, it's one extreme or the other. There's a pretty tight deadline on this and there a lot to do! Just can't please me!

Zoodoo, sometimes you just have to go through the motions, it is all a part of the journey. You will get your head in it again, just do the best you can for now. Fake it til you make it! Chin up!
Stacy, :woohoo: for overweight! I just hit that this week too, I want to say it feels great, but I didn't feel obese in the first place  Maybe when I get to say I am of normal weight it will feel better. Congrats on that and your 173 sticking!
Vixsin, I have to tell you, I have a chuckle everytime you post your weight because you and I have been EXACTLY the same weight for 3 or 4 days now! There was only one day we were off by 0.2, but other than that exactly the same! I am 190.8 today also, waiting for the 180s morning! Have fun rollerskating!
Berry, I don't think the BMI thing is going anywhere anytime soon, but you are right, it is not meant for every body type. Probably only average boned people. For me, I think it is right on the money, but won't know until I get closer.
DianaLa, August is going to come and go whether you are on plan or not. When it comes, how will you feel if you did throw in the towel and are still at this weight, or worse, heavier? How will you feel if you keep chugging and are at/around the 180's like you predict? That's an easy answer, now keep doing what you are doing and focus on one day or week at a time. You can do this! (please repeat this back to me when I am feeling frustrated!)
Milesaway, I was talking of calorie control next time you go out! What you did is done and gone, forget it and move on. You are right, you won't lose weight taking in that many calories from alcohol alone. You have to make a choice to have it or not. If you choose to have it, you will have to set a limit. There are only so many calories in a day. Stick with diet mixers or light beer, then you can have a couple. Think about your plan for today, tomorrow, this weekend. Forget last weekend.
Rachael, hope your DD feels better soon!
Sum, sounds like a fun day!
Diana32, your trip sounds wonderfully perfect! Thats a nice looking menu, have you made a choice?

 Good Morning Everyone
Another Friday! I can’t say I love the weekends like most other normal people. But then again, I don’t consider myself all that normal!

Thank you all for the nice commies on my avi. That pic was taken on March 18, right before I started 3FC.

I saw a slight drop (0.2) this morning, better than gaining any day of the week! I’ll always change my ticker on Fridays to reflect my WI.

I don’t really know how I feel today. I think it’s b/c I had so few cals yest. I have a lot I could realistically do, but for some odd reason, I have very little motivation. UGH! I can’t stand it when I’m like this. I’m glad it’s not very often.

I am working tomorrow night. This may be contributing to my blah feeling. When I went in for 4 hrs on Wednesday, our unit was a train wreck! We defo do not have the issue ZooDoo does with her job. We are ALWAYS overworked, from the time you walk in to the time you walk out! (Thank you USA governmental policy)

Jo: Have fun at the game tonite.

Kristiina: I wouldn’t have a problem eating at your fundraiser tonite. I don’t eat red meat  It’s not like “Save the :moo: “ I just don’t like it. Have fun and enjoy your beautiful day!

Diana32: OH WOW! I didn’t know the GSM had a train ride! How FUN!! We visit there at least once/yr, sometimes more. My parents have a timeshare there. We typically go in the winter. I haven’t been in the summer in forever. I hope you have fun while you’re there. Oh, and you can tell your DH’s friend you “splashed around” while you were on holiday!

Stacy: :bravo: on the STICK!!! :woohoo: Thanks for you kind words.

Miles Away: Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and know that you are defo NOT alone. I so feel ya on the being able to consume 1400-1500 cals/night on drinking 3-4 nights/wk! I was right there! Funny tho, I was much smaller than I am now  I’d have to attribute that to dancing most of the night away!

 Hi Claire, DianaLA, ZooDoo, Melissa, and anyone I missed.

Hope everyone has a fabulous OP weekend.

I got a new low today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I weighed in at 262.6! I'm so excited! I'm getting closer and closer to the 250s!

Last night I had another great workout with my cousin. She was able to do the full 20 min on the treadmill this time! After work this afternoon i'm going back to the gym with my boss to take a BLT cardio class. I've never taken this class before and hope I can make it lol. It targets the butt, legs and tummy!

B: 2 egg omelet loaded with veggies with a side of whole wheat toast
S: Spinach & artichoke hummus with whole grain pita bread
L: 6 in turkey sub with cheese, lettuce and honey mustard on wheat with a side of white cheddar popcorn
S: Oats & Peanut butter fiber bar
D: probably lettuce wraps stuffed with homemade chicken salad

Berry: I think biking is so fun! I need to buy me one! I am soooo proud of you and look up to you for your efforts. You're doing great with your blood sugar and its truly inspirational! Can't wait till you get to onederland!

Sum: Have fun golfing! It's something that ive never tried and am sure I will be terrible at it lol

I just came back from REI. THey are having their BIG sale. I was looking at the one bike I can try out. It's OK, but I really want a step through bike. SO, I will order the Raleigh. But, I went browsing while there. I tried on a few skirts and shirts. There was even one size 14 that was baggy? What's up with that???? That is some serious vanity sizing going on. I didn't buy anything as I'm good to go with my goodwill finds for this upcoming size except for a couple t-shirts and I'm not buying t-shirts at REI. But for the first time in years and years and years, it's a little fun to try things on! I have some semblance of a shape again so thinks don't look that awful on me. Well, they don't look great, but things were looking SO BAD, that this improvement in the mirror is making me feel like EVERYTHING looks good (slight exaggeration).

But I'm starving - only had a protein bar so far today. Time to eat! So nice to come online to so much positiveness!

And Stacygee woohoo to that scale finally MOVING. You know it would! You are soooooo close now to losing 100 pounds and when you do - you NEED to get some serious, fabulous pictures taken!

Berry: I've noticed the sizes are all so different too. I told my stster today I wear a SMALL 14. Becasue some 14s are too baggy on me. Some brands run small and some run big. It is very hard to figure out when you haven't worn regular sizes since 1998.

Vixson: Congratulating me on being overweight is CRACKING ME UP!

MzJuicy: I like the "stick" method... it keeps me from being to crazy about the little fluctuations. I highly recommend it! Congrats on your new low, too!

K9: Tell me what your job is again? Did I miss that somewhere? I thought you were a stay at home dogmom. and no thanks for kind words... but you really are quite stunning.

Jo: I thought it was you that also became overweight this week... but I wasn't sure. We are such good diet buddies... never getting too far ahead of each other! I really don't live and die by that BMI thing. I've been lifting weights for over a year and I know BMI really doesn't account for muscle mass... but it is a measurememnnt that people concern themselves with so I am happy to see progress.

zoodoo: did you see the thread about weightloss making you more emotional. Could that be what is happening. I don't know what truth there is to that... I know I have had emotional issues through this journey. Also, too little sugar or changing your eating habits could make you cranky too. I know by the end if the day I am totally WIPED out and I get VERY grumpy with my kids. I always feel bad.

I saw jomatho on another thread and followed her over here... You are all very inspiring!

Jomatho: you are showing such a steady weight loss, and I wanted to ask you how you are doing it. I see that you are running. How about diet and other forms of exercise?

I've been stuck at 192 - 195 for 2 months and it won't budge. I've been trying all different approaches to exercise - switching it up to keep my body guessing. But maybe I need to start running and leave it at that?

Berry~ hate the bmi think as well. one summer years ago me and my sister weighed the same amount, we are similar heights as well. and it was unbelievable. bc she looked chubby, and i looked average, really. huge difference, but she is very petite and im big boned. they have to use body fat % added to that bmi calculation.

stacygee!~ 9 from 100, amazing, you're an inspiration!

k9owner, themilesaway~ thanks for the responses

im kind of new to this, but is it possible that eating a steak and exercise can have you up 1 pound? i was OP, and did hard aerobics/weights at curves, and had a nice filet mignon which i made, so i know there was nothing bad added to it. it did cost me 500cals and a lot of fat. but still OP. is it normal to be up?

stacygee
05-20-2011, 05:12 PM
aggie- I eat steak at least once a week and I don't think that I go up b/c of it. But, if you have some sore muscles from your workout they could be retaining water. i have found when I am sore I sometimes go up and I think it could be water retention. try drinking a little extra and that could help flush out water retention or when your muscles aren't sore you'll find the pound come back off.

Gwen: welcome! This is a great place to come for support and advice and encouragement.

I am a Cardiac RN. I specialize in heart failure and have a minor specialty in Myocardial Infarct (heart attack) as well as abnormal heart rhythms. I use to work full time, but in February, I cut my hours to part time. I typically work just 1-2 nights a week now (7p-7a). Stacy, congrats on the 173!!:carrot: I knew it was only a matter of time before your scale co-operated with you.

It is official I am down another pound and I have changed my ticker. Now at 238. I have to start thinking about getting some clothes that fit me. I look like a baggy pants comedian!!:D With so much weight yet to lose I hate to pay top dollor for temporary clothes. I think I will shop at Goodwill, Salvation Army, AMVETS and Habitat for Humanity stores. Being so short I can always find pants that need to be hemmed for my height. It would be different if I were tall and everything was too short.

1081 calories today and an amazing low 524 mg of sodium!!:D:carrot::D

K9Owner, As a Cardiac Nurse, Tell me can a person recovering from multiple bypass surgery be too low in sodium? I add no salt to anything. The 524 mg is what was in the food I ate. Larry,
The answer to this Sodium question is “Yes”.
Not only after bypass surgery! However, any time you have had a human manipulate your heart, you are pretty much at risk for every electrolyte being out of balance, which is why it is imperative to keep it checked at your MDs office.
The normal sodium range in blood is 135-145.

However, it is more to it than loading up on a bunch of Sodium Chloride—or table salt.
Since you probably have a small percent of CHF (congestive heart failure)—I have acknowledged this based on the meds you talk about taking—the treatment may be something more along the line of a 3% Saline solution via IV instead of someone who does not have heart failure. WHY? Glad you asked. Normally, a cardiologist would prescribe a bolus of Normal Saline via IV be given to someone with a Sodium level in the 120s, but because your body has enough fluid on board already, he may not take the chance in throwing you into a full blown CHF episode, where you would be symptomatic, i.e shortness of breath, especially with exertion, edema, pulmonary edema (fluid around the lungs), edema of the extremities (pitting or non-pitting), chest pressure with or without pain, etc.

I’m not sure how often your cardiologist will be checking your labs, but I would guess every 3-6 months, especially being on Lasix—as he is more concerned with your Potassium levels being too low instead of your Sodium.

For signs/symptoms of HypoNatremia (low sodium) Click here (http://www.medicinenet.com/hyponatremia/article.htm).
With you watching your fluid intake, I don’t really see you having a Sodium deficit as I do a Potassium deficit. If anything, I would expect to see you experiencing HyperNatremia (elevated Sodium), despite careful calculations.

Stacy Congrats on the 173 sticking! Yay on being overweight! :yay:

Rachael How is your DD feeling? The double ear infection sounds awful!

Themilesawaygirl Today is a new day. I hope you had a better day.

Vixsin I was busy this week and wasn't able to do personals. I'm sorry to hear about everything you've been going through with the vandals. I hope you find out who is doing it. If it's those kids you mentioned, maybe they can make restitution to you for the damages.

Diana(LA) Hang in there. You can do it. Remember this is a lifestyle change. It has taken me 3 years and 4 months to get to goal. :o

Zoodoo Sorry about you having a rough week. Could it be hormones? Sometimes it feels like we are on a roller coaster ride with everything that goes on in our lives. Jo is right: Fake it until you make it. I have done that many times.

Jo I will probably order the 8 oz fillet. I think it comes with a salad bar and one side. I will trying to stick with the basics on the salad bar and keep the dressing light. I am eliminating foods in the mustard family, so I cannot have the collards. I would normally order them. I will probably have the stewed okra and tomatoes as my side.

K9 We always stay in Brevard during the Christmas holidays. The last two years we had problems with snow and ice. We couldn't do much. I know some people that have gone on the train ride and liked it. I saw some negative reviews about it. I've been wanting to go on the train ride for a while. We haven't been up there when it's warm in a long time. I figured this is the perfect opportunity. It's not cold and not too hot. Some time in the future, I want to go back and stay at the Biltmore house. They don't allow dogs and Magnum goes everywhere with us. We will have to put that trip off for another time.

MzJuicyD Congrats on the new low! :carrot:

Sum Didn't you mention about shopping at Chico's? I went there tonight for the first time ever. It was so funny. When I walked in there the SA mentioned they had just put some items on sale. She said the 0's start at the far end. :o They have different sizing, but what was so funny is that she looked at me and new my sizing was at the smaller end of their scale. That is just so odd for me to hear/understand. I bought 5 t-shirt type shirts. The sleeves are a little shorter than 3/4 length. I love them. I just bought some new shirts a couple months ago. They weren't that expensive, but I like the ones from Chico's a lot better. They are more fitted and figure flattering. My other ones are more square and boxy. I don't want to wear square and boxy. ;)

Gwen Hi and Welcome!

Aggie Did you add much salt to your steak? The gain could be from the sodium or if you are sore from working out. Also, daily fluctuations happen.

Larry Congrats on your pound! :carrot: Great job on the sodium!

You guys are amazing! Even though I'm not able to be here lately in a very active capacity, I'm still coming here and atleast reading (and posting when I can)......and it's enough to keep me motivated! :)

MzJuicy, I'm so happy the scales moved for you! :woohoo: Won't the 250's feel INCREDIBLE?!?!?! I am soooo excited for you, girl!! :D

Berry, I think I'm kinda big-boned, too....If I stretch, I can get my fingers around my wrist....but it's a STREEEEETCH! When I'm laying down on my side, you can tell that my hip bones are WIDE....even DH has commented about them. I'm thinkin' I may be one of those that will never be a size 2.

Had an NSV today.....one of my son's former teachers (she IS a size 2...or maybe a 0 LOL) commented to me at a birthday party, "Girl, you look GREAT!" I told her I'd lost almost 40 lbs.....she said, "It SHOWS! You really look GREAT!" Inside, I said, "YES!" I was soooo happy!! Had someone else yesterday tell me, "GIRL, you're SHRINKING!!" :D :D :D People everywhere are really starting to notice.....it feels GREAT! :D

I didn’t watch what I was eating last night AT ALL. OK, I watched it going in, and in, and in again… bits of this - bites of that… WHY?

I told myself to stop, but I just kept eating anyway. I was making macaroni salad for Jasmynes party, so of course I had to taste, taste, taste to get it right. Then I ate another fajita burrito even though I had already eaten at 5:30 and was NOT hungry - just wanted to TASTE it again. I told myself NO, but ate anyway.

Then the mindless munching began around 10pm (as usual) 2 Dove chocolates, cranberry/nut mix, on and on bite by bite. I was so full when I went to bed at 11 that I still feel full and sick this morning. And I’m SO ANGRY at myself! Aside from the scale being up 5 lbs from yesterday morning I’m just feeling like a discusting PIG.

Yesterday had been such a good start - 45 minutes of intense HIIT on the treadmill followed by 30 minutes of leg training. I felt SO good, SO strong and proud of myself for pushing through on the treadmill. It was great to finally add running into my routine, and cross over footwork… felt 20 again!

I’m getting so strong and full of energy. WHY do I go on mindless binge runs? WHY???? Why do I want to sabotage myself???

Gwen: Why I go on mindless binges... boredom, thirst, my period, stress, lack of feeling satisfied.... just need to find alternatives... but, I forget too sometimes. Just get back on you plan as fast as possible!

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Hmm, I've dropped down lower than my maintenance range. I don't want to drop any lower. Today, Saturday, is always a higher calorie day for me. Next weekend we are going out of town. It's very difficult to stay 100% within your calorie range out of town because of all the variables and things you cannot control. I am going to just play it by ear for the next week and see what happens. I might have to adjust my calories up a little. We'll see.

Gwen, first, :welcome:! You must have seen my post on the Memorial Day challenge thread that I keep forgetting to post on :dizzy:, I just posted there on Monday.
The secret to my success? This thread! Jump in here and these girls (and Larry-we have one token male in our group ) will get you there! Seriously, I wouldn't be where I am without each and every one of them! My plan is calorie counting and my calorie range has changed because I have struggled just like you. Right now, for May I needed a kick in the pants so I am aiming for 1200 (up to 1300 is ok in my mind) and I am running, nothing else (except an occasional bike ride and yard work when it isn't raining). I have set a goal of 90 miles running for this month. I run 3 days, take one off. I just get as many miles as I can for that day, but I am very slow, so I takes me a while, and I sweat out buckets.
I started this journey on Dec. 1st, 2010 with a goal to run 50 miles by Christmas, no change to my diet, except that once you work out you certainly don't want to go eat crappy food and ruin it, so I did make some healthier choices that way, I lost 13 pounds. Then, after holidays, I started calorie counting. Did pretty well until about mid Feb (I think). Decided I needed to change it up, started weight lifting and doing intervals 3-4 days/week, did all right, but not as well as I had been. April was crap, went on vacation, Easter, lost my mojo in there somewhere and depending on what you look at, I hardly lost anything in April, so that brings me to May and so far I have lost about 6-7 pounds (My computer crashed and I lost my daily weights, so I have to go by my weeklies and those don't always happen the last day of a month). I think for me, I have to burn the calories and sweat, and running seems to do that for me, that coupled with lowering my calories back down near 1200 has gotten me jump started again. So as you can see, I have had my difficulties like everyone else, but when you look at the big picture (my weekly weights posted on the challenge thread), it looks alright. My goal for that challenge, 185-175, which I set back in January, is looking pretty challenging since there are only 10 days left, but I will get there, even if it is a few days late. I hope this helps you in some way, sorry I babbled, but I certainly don't have the secret, it is all trial and error and over time, it comes off. The only thing I know for sure is calories in/calories out matters the most for my body, not necessarily how many carbs, sugars, salt, etc. (I do try to watch those things though).
So, jump right in, tell us what you are doing yourself, what you are struggling with and maybe we can help, even if it is to just give you moral support to get through this plateau. Stacy just got through a three week one herself, maybe she could give some insight. Good Luck!

Gwen, oops, I didn't see you second post prior to my reply. We have all done this, DianaLa calls those BLTs (Bites, Licks and Tastes :)) Do you log your food? This helps me sometimes, knowing I will have to log it/write it down or look up the calories, makes me avoid it. Most importantly for me, is when I am going to splurge, I still make myself log. It is unawareness that has gotten me in trouble in the past. I seem to be an all or nothing girl, once I splurge, in my mind, I may as well splurge some more. How stupid is that thinking? I am working on that!
Today is a new day, stay on plan all day today, drink lots of water and get in a good calorie burn, you will feel much better! Let us know how you did later.
Diana3271, :yay: for the figure flattering tops! I like them now too, I used to shop for boxy to hide the rolls! I bet you look hot, hot, hot! Good choices off that menu too! And what a nice problem to have, to be below maintenance right before a vacation! Way to go girly!
Stacy, good morning! What's the workout plan for you today? Another :yay: for you for getting off your plateau!

I have manipulated in my mind how I wanted the information I am about to share to come across, but the only formulation I can muster is honesty. So here goes…

After Thursday’s ridiculously low cals (945) and intense HIIT exercises coupled with a pathetic excuse for an attempt at Ab Ripper X, I felt HORRID on Friday. I had already decided Friday morning I was having pizza (my favorite food on the planet) for lunch, and since I had been so low in cals on Thursday, I reasoned with myself and said, “I have extra cals, so this will not be a problem.”
One would think I would have gotten the clue last time I decided to eat pizza that it is just not a great choice for me, b/c I have zero control over myself when I eat it—but NO! Not me! I’ll spare the  details of the chain restaurant and selection, so as to not tempt anyone or myself, but let me just say, it was the yummiest, fattening thing I’ve eaten since the last time I ate pizza! I didn’t stop there! I was feeling so overly-enthusiastic, I decided to have dessert too! Why not go for the COMPLETE gusto!!
4 pieces later, I was completely FULL. Not in the usual..”I’m full and don’t want anything else healthy to eat”, like I normally am. Nope! It was more like..”OMGosh, I am so stuffed if I even look at another slice of pizza I will hurl right here!” disgusting type feeling!

Needless to say, after an hour, I felt HORRIBLE! My abdominals were sore from P90X, as were my upper thighs from doing “bicycle and reverse bicycle”. I had taken a Zantac, but I still felt like pizza was middle ways in my esophagus (gross). I felt like I couldn’t swallow it (even more gross). On top of this… I had ZERO motivation and even less than ZERO energy. I was completely DRAINED!

I drank some more water, but it clearly wasn’t helping. Then my trainer friend called—chipper as ever--and suggested tennis! WHAT??? You’re kidding right? I can barely lift my hand to drink a glass of water, much less play tennis! I decided to go. Why not? I already felt terrible, let’s add a little insult to injury!

I knew immediately I wouldn’t be able to participate, so I begged for a walk around the park twice. I burned 250 cals on the walk, considering the time, it was more than just a joke! However, 250 cals is 250 cals. After this, I decided I wanted to try to play, b/c I felt so bad, but walking had indeed helped. We played for 30 min. I am so glad I did! Not only did it loosen up my tense, sore, achy muscles, I burned 185 cals in the process and regained some motivation and strength.

I am really, really beginning to HATE Friday’s!

Total Approximated Cals: 1800
Exercise: 435

There is a certain psychological factor that goes with weight loss, when the numbers don’t add up and I (personally), just want to say “forget it!” Luckily, I didn’t. This morning, it’s back to work as usual! Bring on the :carrot:

Can I have a drumroll please? Guess who is now in the 180s? :carrot:189.8 this morning! :carrot: Just barely there, and may pop back up, but man, I am enjoying this today for sure!
Today's plan: this is my day off from running, but have a project started outside that I started yesterday, so I will be burning some good calories there. Eating still 1200ish calories, and my timing should be a little better with no games today. DH coming home today, :yay:.
Have a great Saturday everyone!

Gwen: :welcome3:
As you can tell by my above post, I just came off a similar “high”
My rationale: The #s are NOT adding up, I want what I want—and preferably—NOW!
Just as quickly as I got up on THAT high horse, I stumbled my way back down to the ground, humbled myself, grabbed my food diary, and began to plot out the healthy/correct schedule for the rest of the weekend.

I have learned that just as easy as I can choose unhealthy, I can choose healthy.
I can choose being fat or being fit.
Today, I have a choice and today, I will choose more wisely than yesterday!

So glad you have found your way over to this thread. You’re among those of us who struggle, educate, learn, grow, and ultimately—succeed!!

Today’s Plan
I got up bright and early at 3am. Yes! You read correctly! I’m insane, you’ll learn this the more I post! I cooked my entire meal for tonight when I go to work, so that I am NOT tempted once I get there.
I will sleep from about 10am-5pm (1700).
For dinner tonight, I made green beans, steamed broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini. I cut up and measured out honeydew, but I am thinking maybe not taking it, b/c my carbs will be to much—we’ll see. I’ll take dry tuna as well.
Already, I have eaten:

MN-7a: Edy’s Fruit Bar, Diet White Chocolate Bliss 165
7a-Noon: 1 Wheat Pancake, 2 tsp Polaner AllFruit, 1/8 c SF Syrup, Greek Yogurt, Benefiber 257

The Diet White Chocolate Bliss is a drink I made using 1 pkt Hershey’s White Chocolate Bliss and 2 pkts Diet Hot Cocoa Mix. I don’t like tea and thought maybe this would help satisfy my mouth instead of putting something mindless in it. Even though it is realistically 3 servings (3 packets), I make 4 servings out of it. What do you all think?? Should I try something different?

The nutritional info for all 3 packets are:
Cals: 190
Fat: 2
Sugar: 28 g
Carbs: 34 g
Sodium: 550
Fiber: 2
Protein: 9

I hope no one gets mad at me for not doing personals, but I only have internet on my little non smartphone :( but I'm so excited to tell someone... I'm down to 283.5 this morning! That's down almost six pounds this week! I wasn't trying to lose that much, but I'm thrilled :)

Friday 5/20
Breakfast: scrambled egg white (1), 1/2 grapefruit,2 slices turkey bacon
Lunch: taco salad
Snack : 1/4 cup craisins
Dinner : salad and grilled chicken breast
Snack: mango fruit popsicle
Exercise : p90x arms and abs
Water: 120ounces

Doing pretty good. Staying within my calorie range and exercise . Noticing inches lost but not sure of the amount. Looking forward to Monday s weigh in. Tomorrow there is a BBQ I'm going to so I'm a tad anxious.

K9Owner, Don't beat yourself over the head!!:( 1800 cals was not that bad considering the old days. I used to have snacks between meals that were higher than 1800 calories. Congrats on the exercise even though you did not want to!!:carrot: That is making great choices. :D:D

Now pick yourself up and start fresh. :carrot:

Just a quick pop in!

Jomatho Yay!!!! So happy you got into the 180s!

K9owner I'm sorry it was such a hard day yesterday. In a way, maybe it's good that you felt so bad - might make next time not happen. It's also possible that you were too hungry from the day before which made it hard to stay on plan the next day. Under 1000 calories AND all that exercise is begging the body for more fuel.

For me - down another .4 to my all time low. Sun is out today, so I'll be in the garden mulching. We are getting new gutters, fascia and soffits today too. Watching the guys on the ladder is freaking me out!

I'm changing my signature for some upcoming milestones!

I was up today on the scale to 264.6 but I know it's because of my workout last night. I did a lot of weight training and I always see a higher number on the scale after I weight train. My cousin has been doing well with our workouts and she's doing more and more each day. I'm proud!

Today I'm not hitting the gym BUT my cousin and I are going to the park to play a few games of kickball with her kids. Adults vs. kids... should be interesting! lol

Ah, thanks! And I agree that your upwards movement on the scale was from the workout. I'll probably see similar because of being on my feet and gardening all day. We know it's temporary, so that's allllll good!
