Scale, Scale GO AWAY, Come back Another Day!
So, after realizing I have a HUGE problem with weighing in multiple times a day, I am going to hang my scale up for a little bit. It is getting the best of me. I know I am thinning down, but the scale really isn't budging.
I went another knotch tighter on my belt, but with my weight still the same, I feel like I have accomplished NOTHING and really just want to give up. Not really, I like to work out now, and I look forward to going to the gym. However, it is really tainting my moods and making me almost depressed.
Does anyone else suffer from weighinginoholism? lol

Hi, I'm Ashley, and I weigh too much "Hi Ashley"
LOL-I suffer from weighinonism as well. Ergo, my wonderful husband put his foot down. He took the scale away from me. He took it out in the back of our shed, and I weigh the 18th of every month, unless I'm on TOM. Yesterday, I begged him to let me weigh. He did, but I immediately became so upset because I didn't like the number. So, he told me I can weigh Friday, the 20th, and then back up the scale goes until June 18th. That way you see progress of a few pounds, instead of a few ounces. It helps your motivation so much. Also, try measuring inches as well. That helps a lot when you see yourself losing 2 or 3 inches all over your body in a month.

I need to have someone to take the scale away from me too!! I get so upset with the whole thing! I weigh in before a shower. I weigh in after a shower. I think I feel thinner so I weigh in again! Urgh!

That's good. If your belt is going down and your weight is staying the same it means you're building muscle and becoming slimmer and more toned so don't feel upset about it because that's the best outcome. Well done you.

if the numbers aren't going down but your pant size fits better don't worry about it. The scale is just numbers as long as you feel and look like your losing weight shouldn't be a problem.

I know, I know. It is a matter of convincing myself it though. I KNOW that muscle is more dense than fat. I KNOW that inches matter way more than weight. I KNOW that staying at the same weight but losing inches means I am converting my fat into lean muscle. (Or building lean muscle and losing fat)
Why is it so hard to swallow those facts though??? I can preach it all day long, but when it comes to myself, I have a hard time with it. Kind of like knowing that 1200 calories is too little to eat on a daily basis....

My boyfriend does that like crazy! We started healthy nutrtition and calorie-counting together and he has become scale-maniac. He can be on there 10 times a day. I always thought that was a feminine trait, but damn he's so competitive with himself (he was youth fencing champion in my country), he works out like five times more if he sees 100 gr more on the scale.
This can't be sustainable

I used to have a bad relationship with the scale, and I only weighted once a week! I decided when I restarted in March that I was going to commit to not stepping on the scale for the whole month. I didn't, and it was really worth it because I'm not constantly thinking about my weighins anymore. I only weighin twice a month now and I'm so much less obsessed with that stupid thing. =)

I'm a slave to my scale.
For me, though, when I'm higher it is most definitely NOT because of muscle. I know that muscle is denser than fat; however, I don't build "muscle weight" in a substantial way (or at least in a way that shows on the scale). That's just how my body is.
But, I don't weigh multiple times a day. I weigh once every day...or, at least, I try to. It keeps me focused and accountable. For the past year, I've been fighting a 10-pound backsliding tendency. I got as high as 172 after reaching my goal of 160 a year ago. That is NOT acceptable and it feels horrible to me.
So, I said all of that to say, I hate the scale when it's unkind to me. I love it, though, when it tells me good things. lol!

Yes! I have issues with the scale too. I've weighed 3 times today already. I think I'll ask hubby to hide mine too. I hate the way it affects my mood. If I could get rid of the scale for a while and just focus on how I feel and how my clothes fit, I know I would be a happier person.

I definitely did in the beginning and it would throw my day off when I had a bad weigh-in day. My boyfriend intervened and told me to cut it back to once a week.
Once I got used to seeing the fluctuations and accepting that weight-loss is not linear no matter how on plan you are... I went back to everyday weigh-ins (sometimes every other) and recording officially once a week.

I really hate the scale. My cousin one time had even hidden it from me, but it came back awhile ago. I really just can't help it. Whenever I see it is lower I just feel so happy, but then the time where I see it is up, I feel like a failure and almost give up sometimes if it's a really bad weigh in.
I have been good nowadays though haha. I do a weigh in Wednesday and Saturday.

I also weigh once a day. It is how I stay accountable...I do not go ANYWHERE without my scale! Last time I went some where without my scales was when I went to Oklahoma when my MIL was sick and I was living in a hotel eating out daily. I started to buy a scale but decided against it since what would I do with TWO scales....the impact? 10 lbs gained in 3 weeks...NO GO! But there are rules...I only weigh if it has been at least 12 hrs since my last meal, Every morning it is the same ritual....I pee, I strip, I weigh, I write it down in my little pink book. In the little pink book I write down everything that enters my mouth, how much I have to drink and of what, bowel movements and mother natures monthly visit. But by doing that it allows me to see what positively or negatively impacts my weight. Oh I also notate if I really exercise (like take my bike out for a ride) but frankly I don't do that very often. And I don't count house and yard work as my exercise even though I do both almost daily. I only count extra exercise like swimming laps at the pool in town or riding my bicycle. Which only happens once or twice a week I am sad to say. I claim being tired from trying to be a full time college student and helping my Mom with her place and trying to keep up with my own house as an EXCUSE as to why I don't exercise more. But it's just that...an excuse and I know it.
