Hello, all!

I just started a high protein diet, working with a doctor. I have an appetite suppressant prescription as well as some high-protein meal replacement shakes and bars.

To my question: The LPN recommended that I not change my activity level, but I'd been intending on trying to work out at least 30 minutes (if not 60 minutes) a day, and had already started doing so this week.

Have any of you on a high protein diet had this recommended to you? I know I should trust the people who've gone to medical and nursing school, but at the same time I feel that working out keeps my stress in check and generally makes me feel better.

Any advice? :?: I have a weigh in next week and a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks, so I can always ask directly then. Should've pressed the point today, I know, but I honestly found the LPN intimidating. Wish I'd asked the doc, who was far more personable.

I'm also on a high-protein, low-carb eating plan & have been exercising from the beginning (about a year).. I'm glad I did it this way, but it might not be for everybody... if you're determined to exercise, my advice is to start out slowly & carefully & see how you feel...

I wonder if the LPN recommended not changing your exercise because
a) when you lose, you won't be able to tell how much is the different eating plan and how much is exercising. You may not care as long as you're losing.
or
b) some folks have periods of light-headedness the first several days on a high protein diet and if you're working out more strenuously than you're used to you may make it worse.

@WebRover: You're probably right. I think I'll keep working out, however. I'm not totally new to it--I just stopped for about a month because I got lazy. Also, I already paid for a bunch of classes and I just feel better when I work out (not necessarily during, I admit).
