Default The shaker funk...

Okay, I wash this thing after each IP product, but smells are clinging. When I open it to make a chocolate drink and get a big whiff of herbs and cheese omelet... well it's off putting...

What do you do to eliminate the food smells from your shaker? I've heard shaking vinegar in it, what kind?

Sometimes I leave the shaker filled with warm soapy water to keep the neutral smell lol

LOL!!! I'm sorry that I laugh, but I have the same exact problem and complain in my head about it all the time. I notice that when I stick it in the dishwasher it goes away.

I'm sure soaking it in bleach water would help, if you'd prefer to smell bleach instead... (sarcasm ).

I wash it out and don't put the lid on and let it stay aired out and it seems to be ok.

Maybe try filling it with warm water and baking soda and let it sit? Baking soda can suck the stench out of anything.

The vinegar that helps is White vinegar...use warm water and some white vinegar. Let it sit for an hour then wash it out.

Dishwasher works. Get an extra shaker to alternate use while one sits in the dishwasher (Walmart has them for around $5).

Thanks everyone for the idea's of getting rid of the smell, I to was having this problem with my shaker. I let mine sit in the sink with soapy water as much as possible and that seems to take care of the smell. I will be definately trying the vinegar to see what that does for me also.

I had the same problem (and still do, mine has a habit of sitting dirty over night) and usually go for the soap and water for a little while (I don't have a dishwasher). One tip I learned the hard way, DO NOT MICROWAVE THE SOUP IN IT. I thought it would be fine, but my container smelt like tomato soup for a week, even after a few cleanings...

I have a few shakers and I use some for puddings, some for drinks, some for savory items.

I actually use a glass jar for making my eggs.

I prefer smooth top/sides for my pudding containers. I hate losing too much to the top.

I make the jelly, just like jello using a stainless or glass mixing bowl.
