i am debating about signing up for a 5k, right now i can barely do 2 miles....the race is in exactly a month. i used to be a runner now i'm a tank and need to get the weight off.

Last summer I got a whole group of friends to commit to the C25K program and a fun 5k at the .end of the program with me. They all did great!!! Me, not so much. Lol. But I do.finished it, it was just a lot more walking the running hahaha. I actually think I'm going to sign up for the same run this summer just to redeem myself :)

Go for it!! Having an established goal like that is normally encouraging!

In a word? YES! Sign up. Give yourself a goal. Don't worry about running the whole thing, just sign up and go for it. I did that last November, and now I can't stop running. I just ran a half marathon this past Saturday and I couldn't even run for a full minute a year ago.

Yes, Yes, yes! Go and Have Fun and to help toss the weight, every day start running! give yourself time to pick up the distance and some recovery but you can totally do it!

I agree! Definitely sign up & do it. Even if you end up walking some, it's still a great accomplishment. Plus, it'll give you a good time to try and beat for the NEXT 5k you sign up for! Best of luck!!!

YES! DO IT!! I did my first 5k last April. It was so much fun I have don't half a dozen more since then... I am not sure what to do with all these 'free' T-Shirts. Lol! They are fun! Even if you walk more than you run - it just FEELS SO GOOD to get out there and DO IT!

thanks for all the inspiration! i sent out my race form today...what is also really awesome is that you can bring strollers. i just bought an awesome jogging stroller so i can do the run with my baby, even better!

I want to sign up too. I am only on week 2 of the C25K program but I can run 15 minutes straight on the treadmill. I should look for one like 2 months from now and sign up.

I say DO IT....then, in 3 or 4 months, do another!! Just so you can see the improvement!

I also recommend the couch to 5K program. For me personally having a weekly workout plan and a specific date I'm training for helps me to not skip/skimp on workouts. Its amazing how much doing a 5k motivates me.
