I joined 3FC seriously on 1/1/11, have lost 45 lbs./20%, and have assembled a platoon, a group who are determined to give 110% each and every day to achieving their weight loss goal. Some of the ladies nicknamed me Sarge, so Sarge it is!

--Please join if you're serious about dropping pounds and melting your BUTT-er (that's a salute to one of our troops) and have a sense of humor!

--Please join if you want daily motivation to achieve your goal. Sarge has plenty of time to keep an eye on you!

--Please join if you want Sarge to scream in your face like Jillian Michaels on Biggest Loser because that's what you're gonna get!

--Please join if you understand the definition of challenge, "...a call to engage in a contest, fight, or competition," this is your life we're talking about!

--Don't join if you're gonna bring excuses!

--Don't join if your head isn't in it yet. We'll be here to embrace you with well-toned arms when you're ready.

--Don't join if you're overly sensitive to comments like "step away from the buffet!"

--Don't join if you want to discuss anything other than get this freaking weight off of me! Sarge is type A personality. Reading touchy-feely stuff makes Sarge's eyes bleed!

RULES: Simply make Sarge a promise each Sunday to lose a certain number of pounds the following week then DO IT! New Privates encouraged to join any Sunday!

WHO IS WITH ME?!?!?!? All are welcome (including men)...any age, any amount of weight to lose. Say "Yes, Count Me In Sarge!" Do it, you know you want to, then drop and give me 20 minutes of exercise!

:drill:
Sarge is Back!

Disclaimer: Sarge is not a doctor, a nutritionist, or personal trainer with any sort of real medical knowledge. Additionally, it is not my intention to poke fun at our armed forces. I salute the men & women protecting our country.

New Thread Again!
Look at us go.

I so tried to post last night but I was having a hard time pulling up and navigation 3FC. I wrote out my reply 3 times but it just would not post. Oh, internet--how you tease me.

Happy Weekend to you all! I can see a bunch of you already hitting your weekly goal. Awesome.

Reso-You the man. Walk, bike, walk, bike....lather, rinse and repeat. Ha, that is how you get it done though.

A report for my 9...errr...8 1/2 miles last night. (I skimmed off a .5 mile on the request of my husband, not that I protested that much). But it was a good 8 1/2. Oh it was hot and I was dripping by the end. It was a good run though....so much better than last week. I'm feeling better now about next weekend.

Ummm, probably not going to happen JayTee :D I know a lot of individuals desire to participate in marathons etc... Me i am just so happy and thankfull that i can participate at life. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/715/heartwml.gif

Cheshire : I have had intermittent problems accessing the site at times also, dunno whats up with that, i get pretty sweaty just walking hard can't imagine running, did think of you yesterday evening. ;)

MadamB : Do try and not take the scale to serious, i have trouble as well, still you know if you have been honest with yourself and your commitment, staying on plan only makes your weight go one way, otherwise it's just stress, inflamation, water retention, the boogy man :dizzy: whateever but certainly not actual fat. Keep with your plan, it's been working for you right ?

Koshi : I like your attitude, way to go on seeing that 1 on the scale, every bit of activity is gonna help, you have a good relationship with your mum (LOL, i like the quirkiness of different locals, chiefly british slang :p ), so do i with mine, my mom is one of if not my best friend. :p

You did good with the nourishment, there is a bigger mental aspect as physical i think at times, it does no good to deny oneself simple pleasures like favorite foods, just have to make it the best/cleanest/lowest calorie and appropriate portion size to still fit into a daily deficit, two birds with one stone so to speak, that and the preparation and cleanup helps to digest and burn off the meal vs take out.

I had Pitas a couple times last week but mine were with turkey, romaine, parmesan and ceasar dressing all in moderate proportion, i enjoyed them and they really weren't hard to make or horribly caloric either.

jojo : I see a lot of peeps have difficulty/fears when their goal is reached, almost bittersweet in that it requires a significant change, just something else to work at/towards, you will do fine because you seem steadfast in making this transition as smooth as possible.

Koshi--we more or less go with Sunday. HOWEVER, there is no problem with weighing in and posting early. Basic guideline, tell Sarge how much you lost BY Sunday and make your pledge for the following week at the same time.

so what day is the actual weigh in?

I always use my Saturday evening weigh in myself, most peeps use sunday morning, but as long as it's week on week i don't really see a problem, the duration is still 7 days.

Yeah, i forgot to say i'm sore as crap today,http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8744/wtfvs.gif 40K really adds up, must of been on a shopping high from my new bike and head gear, guess i'm coming down today, will see what i can do, certainly a walk and a ride not sure if i have it in me to throw down again though, will see what kind of moxy i can stir up still.

Count me in! I feel like I've been trying to lose weight for so long with very limited success; I'll lose for a while, then regain, usually the same 5lbs. I feel that I will always lose/regain unless I deal with my emotional eating or food addiction, so I previously stopped trying to 'lose' to just work on my eating/food issues, and am now ready to try and lose weight again.

I don't really follow a plan except to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full/satisfied; I also try to limit sugar/processed foods, eating a balance of foods. I journal my eating/exercise on paper but may start logging it here just to keep me accountable.

Since last Sunday I am down 3.8 pounds!! My goal for this week is a 2.5 pound loss.

This will also be the first time in as long as I can remember that I am removing the scale from the bathroom! I will not weigh myself again until next Saturday. I'm actually freaking out on the inside! Lastly, I'm going to start the C25K today (well- tonight when it gets dark out). I'm bringing my dog along with me so hopefully she doesn't trip me up. Fingers crossed I can make it through the first one lol

Popping in to check in.
I just got done cleaning the car, inside and out! It's so nice now and I worked up a little sweat getting it done.

JoYo-Congrats on getting down to your goal. It is scary actually getting to where you wanted to go because what do you do now?! I'm getting closer to mine and I've been at my goal weight before but that maintenance didn't actually work and I went back up. I attribute my gain to a lack of any kind of plan. I didn't think maintenance out. I drastically changed my activity level but my eating didn't change. Having a plan of course is the way to go. Thinking, okay I'm here, what do I need to do to stay here. Or what are my goals now! Oh the head games.

Yay for our newly acquired members! Kick some butt-er!

Kendrab-Awesome job! That's a great week's worth of butt-er dropping. You'll do great with the C25k! It's so exciting to try new things. Enjoy!!

Reso-Ahh yes soreness. But it's the type of sore that says, "yes, I kick some butt-er!" Stretch it out.
Oh and I love the Pita you mentioned...I make pretty much the same thing but with chicken.

MadamB-You are more than a number remember. The scale is not the end all-be all. Take stock of how you are feeling, how healthy you are feeling. How great you feel after exercising. Your energy levels too.

JayTee, thanks for the welcome. I prefer to be called Penguin its easier than Patchwork, I feel. Please put me down for 1lb, that's what I lost last week. I'm trying to take baby steps back into this weightloss thing; I tried for a long time without losing and got very frusterated so I quit, and am just getting back where I feel ready to try again. I hope I can count on you guys to help motivate me when I get stuck, because I don't want to get to the place I was when I quit.

Cheshire, I feel you are right. Maintainence doesn't just happen, we need a plan that will prevent us from slipping back into old habits.

Kendrab, I used to be a daily weigher but the ups and downs drove me nuts. I figured out my 'low' day and decided to only weigh that day. I did have to hide my scale from myself {and even got Hubby to take the battery out and hide it from me}, But I feel better now weighng only one day. You can do it!

JoJo, very cute user name!

Cleaning house today. I got a new vacuum for my recent BDay so I got to try it out today. Score= Vacuum 1, Penguin 1/2. I got the house vacuumed but I kept pushing the wrong buttons, and once an attachment fell off the back and scared me. Will do better next time. Weights for later.

I'm officially down 1 pound this week, so I met my goal and didn't experience a gain. I'm trying not to be disappointed - with as much as I worked out this week, I was hoping for a bigger loss, but I'll take a pound!!!

I'll pledge 1 pound for next week, Sarge!

Don't worry it will catch up Pokey, use the dissapointment to your advantage though, let it drive you that little bit harder, push just a tiny bit more.

We all have weeks where we feel we aren't getting what we deserve with our effort, truthfully on the other hand i have had weeks where i lost lots and thought i wouldn't lose anything or very little, just when your body decides to let go, it would be nice to dictate this in an orderly fashion but thats just not how it works. :)

You still get to see the scale move in the proper direction, one less pound to worry about. ;)

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE WORDS OF KINDNESS & SUPPORT !!

As you all know . . . when the scale is not being nice it can bring you down REALLY FAST, UGH . . . But I look back to Oct 2010 when I weighed almost 200 pounds, now 6 months later and almost 40 pounds lighter: I feel much better, I definitely look better and that's still about 6 1/2 pounds a month . . . OK I'm greedy, I want 10 pounds a month, at least :dizzy: . . . but I will definitely take what I've accomplished so far and know that sooner or later that scale will give up those pounds . . . I'll weigh tomorrow, but then the scale is going in the trunk of my car . . . <sigh> and there it will stay until the next Sunday, at least . . . now if I can stay off the scale at work . . . LOLOL

Penguin: :welcome3: This thread keeps me going, so get ready to BUST YOUR BUTT-ER!!

Pokey, VickieLou, Kendrab, decap & EVERYONE ELSE; CONGRATULATIONS ON THE LOSS, WAY TO MELT THAT BUTT-ER!!!

JOYO: WOOHOO 1/2" IS WONDERFUL . . . I too like it when the inches come off!!!

Kendrab: How did C25K go???

Reso: I bet you are sore, but it WILL PAY OFF!!!

fatarnp: IT NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN . . . WE LOVE FRESH MEAT, OH, OH I MEAN RECRUITS . . . :lol3: WELCOME!!

SARGE: THANKS FOR THE CAN OF WUPA@@, I PLAN TO RELEASE IT ON THE SCALES !!! LOLOLOLOL

OK, went for a bike ride, no rain, but colder than I thought it would be (mid 30's) I was warm except for my feet <note to self, when under 50 degrees, wear wool socks outside!!> A bit windy, (what's leftover from the rain yesterday, I guess) but still went for almost an hour (legs were screaming after 15 minutes) . . . went to the store, but I forgot a few things, so I'll MARCH MY FAT BUTT-ER SELF to the store with my back pack. I need more ibuprophen for my knee . . . and a few other things . . . I should have made a list . . .

Peanut/Cheshire: C25K question. I ran, Mon, Wed, & Fri . . . Do I run again Mon, Wed, & Fri or should I start week 2 on Sunday???? or can I wait until Monday???

Peanut: where are you woman???? have you checked in this morning??? Do I see chocolate smears from the bunny ears??? Hmmmmmm I looked at all the bunnies, jelly beans, cadbury eggs, etc and they didn't even really appeal to me . . . if they had been dark chocolate I might be singing a different tune right now . . . :D Did you get those crunches in????

Everyone just hang in there, I hear there is a scale fairy on the loose . . . you never know where she might land . . . HAVE A GREAT DAY, I'M OFF FOR MY MARCH TO THE STORE!!!

JayTee

MadamB -- I think Peanutt posted yesterday that she was off for a day or two to Easter celebrations. And, I agree with all the others. We are not numbers on a scale. Look how far we've all come since meeting each other in January! You've lost over 40 since December!!! I've lost pounds, gained a whole bunch of new friends, found a new use for my free time in trying to motivate others, and we did all this because people tried to silence our FUN!!! So chin up! Eat a bunny ear or two, it won't kill you and it's back to MORTAL COMBAT on MONDAY!

In the meantime, here's another image for those scale-o-phobes out there. Kind of brings new meaning to Reso's "dropping the hammer."

http://www.izzyfitnesstips.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/broken-scale-picture.jpg

Pokey--You're another one who should on the bright side. Did you ever think you'd be running? A loss in a loss! Like Reso says, one less to worry about and now Sarge is in your head and you're taking a pass on sweets and sweating on the stairmaster!

Chesh--What is the weather starting to look like for your 1/2 marathon? I'm not exactly sure where you live other than the south (I think). Are you already in potential heat wave mode.

Pledge board updates as numbers roll in. Keep sweating peeps...summer is just around the corner!

Wow I miss a couple of days and there's a whole new thread, yikes!! Can't do that again....lol

Cheshire- Oh thats too funny, my boyfriend's parents live in Rio Rancho, and we currently live down by Cruces. I'm going to start school at NMSU for the fall semester. Very small world indeed....:D

So Yesterday was a pretty laid back day, I got side tracked working on a painting. Anyway, I did pretty good, stayed under my points, but took a day off from exercising. Ended up only burning about 2400 calories or so....

Today is promising to be much better already, going out to work with, Caesar (2yr old with mental issues, very loveable, but is described in two words Fruit Loop.) Once I come back in I'll do my Zumba, and we'll see after that......lol

I cleaned house this morning, then did 55mins of weights. I exercise at home to DVDs or on my treadmill. I have an elaborate workout schedule but it pretty much boils down to 'weights one day with cardio the next'. While I have been consistant I've been in an exercise rut recently so I've decided to add in other cardio besides my TM {such as boxing} and different kinds of weightwork such as my dusty kettlebells.

MadamB, one of the things that interested me in joinng this thread was that it is so active. I spend a lot of time home alone and I like having people to talk to. I wore wool hunting socks this year and its the first year my feel haven't been freezing all winter.

Deanna, can I ask what species Ceasar is? I'm betting dog or horse?

Kendrab1223
04-23-2011, 05:55 PM
Madamb- I won't be doing it until tonight for a few reasons- I'm watching my 2yo nephew (in addition to my own two kiddos), I need to finish Easter basket shopping when he leaves, annnnd- I don't think I feel comfortable attempting to run during daylight :\ at least not yet... Plus, it's FL and freakin hot. I don't want an "excuse" as to why I failed if I do lol

I was able to get in an hour of playing dance central so far, though! I really wish I knew the true amour of calories I burn while playing. I know the cal counter is probably wrong. Oh well.

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL!!

Ok, feeling much better after my walk, I put on wool socks, so my feet were toasty warm . . . :) Oh that's right, I forgot Peanut was hiding Easter eggs and what not . . . and we have come a loooooong way . . . I'm still so angry about that whole "silencing" thing . . . really gave me a BAD taste in my mouth, but we're HERE now and ANYTHING GOES . . . well, you can't say mean things to people, that's just not nice . . . and without you SARGE, we would all be flopping around in the sand like beached whales . . . and what would we do without Rainbow and everyone else who wants to laugh and have a good time . . . oh yea, and lose weight . . . (what was I thinking) .. . . I didn't buy any chocolate bunnies but I did buy some ghirardelli chocolate of which I am going to enjoy a piece or two (I think 2, because I bought 2 different kinds) with a nice glass of red wine . . . and whatever happens, happens . . . I just hate disappointing you SARGE!!!!

BUTTTTTT, SUNDAY IS GOING TO BE A DO NOTHING DAY, WELL I HAVE TO WORK, THEN . . . ON MONDAY, START WEEK 2 OF C25K, AND MELT SOME BUTT-ER AS I AM OFF ALL DAY AND MAYBE THE SUN WILL BE OUT SO I CAN TAKE A REAL BIKE RIDE!!!

Deanna1303

Penguin-yep that would probably help, he's a very large pony right now, but will probably mature just over what's considered horse size. I have two nutty ones (Caesar and Mocha) and then the one in my avatar is Tucker, who is the very sensible and sane one out of the bunch.

JayTee
04-23-2011, 07:49 PM
Deanna--So funny, I had the same reaction. Species please! You're horse descriptions sound much like our platoon. I'm sure we have at least one sane member in the group?!?!?!

Penguin -- I so agree about the being home alone and finding fun throughout the day right here at Boot Camp!

MadamB--Glad you're more chipper. Yes, Sarge always allows minor exemptions for holidays...with all the various religions we've probably got here I'm guessing if we really tried we could find at least one day a week to go off plan!

And chatty?!? Yes we are. 500 posts every two weeks...who can really keep up? The best part though is that we've found several privates who've stayed tried and true and weathered the inevitable weight loss storms.

Sarge is out for the rest of the night but wishes you all HAPPY EASTER and leaves you with this:

Sarge!
Thought I better catch you before the chocolate bunnies attack...

I am pledging to maintain and up my game with more exercise. Maybe I can knock off that last 1/2". I truly loved the coco-bunnie joke!

Thanks for the link to the new thread, Sarge!

This is my first pledge so I hope I am doing it right. ;)

I want to pledge to start the couch to 5k program this week and stick to it for my first week and to lose at least 2 pounds. I hope I can meet both goals! :D

YAY KENDRAB! YOU ARE NOW A RUNNER! Enjoy those cramps of success!

:cheer2:Kendrab that's awesome, congrats!!!:cheer2:

Thank you both! I got home and my hubby was like "wow, you actually did it!". It was beyond obvious by how sweaty I was :)

Question for all that have done the c25k- did you REALLY end up running 3 miles in 2 months?!? Looking at the plan, I just look at it like, "yeahhhhh okay...". No matter what I'm sticking to it, I'm just curious on others success with it :)

Hiya phillygirl, resident man child here :D Hey the ladies let me stick around i'm sure you are most welcome, make a pledge and then make it happen.

So another day where i had to go 10 rounds with my evil alter ego, did my 10K walk this morning then came home had a turkey bun (yummy) proceeded to head out on the bike for a 10K ride came home feeling like i was doing pretty good.

So's i go and visit my brother, whoops he decides to bring out some drinks  anyways i had 3 or 4 and thought i better get home before i go overboard, so what do i do when i get home, i eat way to much and lay on the couch like a sloth.

This is the part i'm proud of though, after feeling sorry for myself for around 3 hours i wrestle myself to a rage and head out on the bike and do another 10K, was really rough because of the booze and full stomach but i punished myself good, when i came home i felt reenergized and have spent the whole evening listening to music and cleaning the house.

So i should still have a deficit today, tomorrow i plan on going biblical to get back on track fully, will post my weekly loss tomorrow, afraid to get on the scale tonight. :(

Oh ya, did i mention i love my new bike. :p

Evening, all. Today was a reasonably good day - I made it to the gym for some cardio, then did some strength and balance exercises later at home, and my calories were within my target range as usual. Passover seems to be going better than in past years, but I am still REALLY looking forward to it being over on Tuesday night. Just three more days to go.

MadamB: I'm glad you're feeling better about the scale after getting some encouragement here. Don't forget what an awesome job you're doing with all that exercise!

Cheshire: Nice job on the long run! I'm glad it felt better this time. :)

dcapulet: Glad to hear about the pound, and your goals for the coming week. :) I hope you're doing well.

penguin: I couldn't help but giggle at your vacuuming description!

Sarge or MadamB: Could one of you explain what happened in the past? I don't mean to dredge up old stuff, but I wasn't around or aware and so don't know the history. Oh, and good luck with the Easter meal, Sarge!

Kendra: Great job on the C25K!!

Koshi: The garden sounds like fun! It will be great to have all those vegetables come up.

Resolute: Way to motivate and get another walk in so that you felt better about your day! :) I've been meaning to ask you... what exactly is a "turkey bun"? I googled images and got turkey sandwiches and this

LOL, i wasn't really drunk, a little tipsy earlier but it had diminished to lethargy by the time i mustered up some motivation. :D

Can't wait to plant my garden, still be another month :(, did throw some steer manure on my Rhubarb, blueberries and raspberries today though. :p

Are you joking me ? Turkey buns are plain but delicious, for me just a bun some butter, salt and pepper and nice white turkey meat. :dizzy:

Some people might put mayo on it or go nuts and throw a bunch of stuff but not me, lower cal without anyways.

You have never had a turkey bun ? :?:

Happy Easter!

Chickadee, When I was in collage I went to an antique show and bought a 'spanish haircomb' that was just beautiful. I started to collect them and ended up with hair past my butt and 75 combs. So your picture brought back memories because I used to wear my hair that way. Well ,coiled up in back but nothing as nice as the picture. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.81644993.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.etsy.com/listing/28307189/vintage-spanish-hair-comb-celluloid&h=1026&w=1011&sz=189&tbnid=Pe6RIOltsZ71PM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=148&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dspanish%2Bhair%2Bcombs%26tbm%3Disch%2 6tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=spanish+hair+combs&hl=en&usg=__MqgtCLr2UeJZ-CURJOr29XxX3hE=&sa=X&ei=kxK0Ta34ItO4tweq6M3pDg&sqi=2&ved=0CGEQ9QEwBg This is very similar to my first comb.

Phillygirl, welcome, glad to have you join us. This is my first week also.

Resolute, good job for getting on the bike and not being a sloth.

Kendra, great job on your run!!

ATTN' HUT TROOPS!

Yes, we can be a chatty group but as MadamB pointed out yesterday, I believe our common goal is weight loss?!?!? (and a good laugh now and then!), I really hope we meet our platoon goal for last week. We've got such a strong start!

Few personals before Easter Brunch--

Phillygirl -- WELCOME!!!! Hope you stick around for awhile! Let us know how much poundage you WILL lose next week and come back as often as you need for a kick in the pants to stay on plan!

Penguin -- another line in your siggy also amuses me, "an exercise in futility still counts!"

Reso -- drunk biking?!?!?! lol... "going biblical" on weight loss ... love it!

Koshi -- What's a "Gammon joint?" Sounds like something I smoked in the 1960's! Also, made me smile when you wrote, "...probably not interesting, but I don't care" That's the spirit of this platoon!

Which brings me to Chickadee -- not to dredge up the past, but this thread was created when a group of us were chastised in The Biggest Loser Challenge thread for being "overly aggressive." Go figure, it was/is a CHALLENGE!!!! I guess some were more accustomed to talking about losing weight instead of doing it. Hold a grudge...who me?

Again, all have a great day and if you've got time drag your buns (turkey or otherwise) to the gym!

Didn't lose AGAIN this week!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had a bad week overall though, baby was sick so three days this week I couldn't go to the gym. Didn't gain though, so I'll take it.

Pledging only 1 this week, I'm hoping I can get back into the swing of things! My deadline is creeping closer and I'm still about 8 pounds from my first mini goal! :(

I've already failed my attempt at not weighing myself for a week! It's so hard for me to not do it! But, I was jumping for joy this morning- I lost 1.6 pounds since yesterday morning!! I know a lot of it has to do with severly cutting down on my diet coke- I went from 5 or 6 a day down to 1 or 2 and I'm drinking a ton more water.

I think I need my scale. I woke up feeling pretty lazy, which is fine with me since it's my scheduled lazy day, but after seeing the loss I decided to play my dance central game because I was so excited and motivated lol.

Does anyone else NEED the scale for motivation? Either to push them harder because of a gain, or to excite them into more exercise because of a loss? I don't know if I'm more mad at myself for failing my not weighing, or more proud of myself for losing... Lol

JayTee

Kend--I'm with you! When I see a loss on the scale it makes me get out there and do more. Unfortunately, some in the platoon have had to hide, shoot, remove batteries, and/or drop their scales from skyscrapers...lol. Weight loss is such an individual battle! Keep going!

Linalin--Don't worry... join the ranks of doing Mortal Combat Monday toward your goal!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

SARGE: I'm even, no loss, no gain . . . UGH, I guess it's better than the 2 pounds I was up yesterday, I'm sure it's H2O, (I hope)

PLEDGE: 1/2 POUND, I think it's psychological . . . eat clean, do week 2 of C25K, and most importantly I WILL NOT WEIGH MYSELF UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY!! Going to put the scale in the car as I go out to ride my bike!!

linalin: Hang in there and GET YOUR BUTT-ER TO THE GYM!!!!

Penguin: The comb is BEAUTIFUL

Reso: Oh you crack me up . . . drinking and going biblical, all in the same evening . . . Glad you hopped on your bike :)

Phillygirl: :welcome3: Come join the fun, but plan to BUST YOUR BUTT-ER AND MELT IT AWAY . . .

Kendra: :woohoo: CONGRATS ON THE RUN, I just finished week 1, and will be doing Week 2, Day 1 tomorrow . . . I have my fingers :crossed: Just make sure you take those days off in between . . . I know I felt like running more on the "off" days, but didn't from the advice of many

Chickadee: Thanks, I'm not sure I feel BETTER about the scale, but I think putting it in the trunk of my car might help!!

Koshi: I want to know what a gammon joint is too!! Is it like a bunny hug you can eat??? LOLOLOL

dcap: take that 1 pound and throw it away and start MELTIN' THAT NEXT POUND!!! You can do it

NeMom: Where are you??

I'M SURE I'VE MISSED A FEW PEOPLE, SORRY :sorry: JUST BUST YOUR BUTT-ER, GET OFF THE COUCH AND MOVE, CRUNCHES, TOO BUSY, STEALTH BUTT CRUNCHES, LUNGES WHILE WALKING TO THE MAIL BOX . . . JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

SARGE: I'll be checking in, but I think personals are gonna be limited . . . as I need to get my mind back to BOOT CAMP!!! BUST MY BUTT-ER, MELT IT AWAY, PANTS ON THE GROUND

Ok, it's sunny, still a bit cold, but no rain, no snow and I'm off to ride my bike, then off to work, UGH!! WE NEVER CLOSE!! Planning to walk at work also . . . then tomorrow C25K, Week 2, Day 1 . . . a little scared, but I CAN AND WILL DO IT!! WARRIOR DASH, HERE I COME!!

I was thinking that actually- that I could totally go out and try and do day 2 today but I'm not going to. I want to, but... I think the program was made for a reason and I shouldn't get ahead of myself! Good luck with week 2!!! Our stats are pretty similar in terms of starting weight/current weight/goal weight so it's nice seeing someone else around the same boat as me doing it too! I was 215 the day I delivered my daughter and hung out there for a while. The day I started my diet/exercise I was 183 and my goal is 135. I got sick with bronchitis and that led to a lazy, binging two months (ugh!). I got down to 155 but went back up to 163 in those two months. I'm down to 157 (according to my mean scale which I just replaced the battery in. I like my nice scale better- it made me 4 pounds lighter!!!). I'm hoping to hit my 135 goal by June 15th and I hope the running will help me get there!!

Sorry for my ramble :dizzy:

Morning and Happy Easter.

I gave my husband an Easter Egg hunt in our apartment this morning. LOL Next year I'm hiding the eggs harder! (no we don't have kids, we just like to play)

No gain or loss for me Sarge. Stayed the same. I'll fix that next week!
Pledging 2lbs next week.

MadamB-About your question about what days to run. M, W, F is great each week. It's okay to take Sat and Sun off from running.

Sarge-The weather looks like a nice warm Spring day for us. And yup, I'm in the South. So I have already ran in 85 degree heat a few times in the last month. Oh the summers are killer for running here. But the run starts at 6am, so it should be cooler.

Deanna-Ha, that's funny. I did enjoy my time down at NMSU. I left Cruces back in 2006--it must have really grown since then. When I was leaving they were just putting in the Dion's. I love that place.

Kendrab-Congratuations on doing day 1!!
And yes, the plan really does work. But I also want to say that repeating a week is perfectly normal too! Don't feel like you have to move on if you don't feel ready--do the week again then move on. I had a group of co-workers that started running with me and I had them doing a version of the C25k (I tweaked it a bit to fit our schedule and their fitness level) and they have all run 5k races now!
I did c25k myself way back when I first started running and it got me all the to where I am now. I did repeat weeks and I think I ended doing the program two whole times. I started on a treadmill, then moved out into the real world and had to start over.

Koshing-You're garden sounds great!

If you don't like the c25k podcast you downloaded there are a bunch of other ones now-a-days. I don't know if you'll like any but here's a link:

First things first: I am not down any more from my 231.0 on Friday and yesterday. In fact, my scale was up this morning to 232.1, which makes me a bit sad as I'm really looking forward to getting to that milestone of 50 lbs lost, but I KNOW it's not a gain of anything more than water as I know exactly where my calories have been and that I had a large deficit the past two days as usual. I'm running down the list in my head of the reasons for a water gain... it's not muscles retaining water, not lack of sleep (I've slept very well this weekend), might be sodium but I actually tracked that yesterday and it was low... so it's either voodoo or hormonal, and I'm guessing the latter. ANYWAY. Sarge: I will count my loss this week as the 2.9 lbs, and count the 231.0 from Friday and yesterday for my starting weight this week. I pledge 2 pounds again this week. I'll be at the gym this afternoon getting started on that. :D

Resolute: Well, I've had turkey sandwiches made with bread or a roll of some sort, I've just never heard the term 'turkey bun'! I wasn't sure if it was a specific food that I wasn't aware of, or simply a term like 'bunny hug' that I'd never heard. :dizzy: Thank you for explaining.

penguin: That comb is beautiful!! I would love to do something so intricate with my hair... did you used to style it yourself? I can't even get my hair into a decent braid, lol.

Kendra: I love the scale and still weigh daily. It's not for everyone, and I know some here advise strongly against weighing daily. But since I know I'm on track every single day, and creating a deficit even on my few, planned higher calorie days (which never, ever go above 2000), I really enjoy seeing how the numbers on the scale change and the patterns over time - even when I'm up on the scale and puzzling through the reason, as I am today. And congratulations on seeing the loss this morning!! Cutting down on Diet Coke and drinking a ton more water has really helped me too. :)

MadamB: Good luck with week 2 of C25K!! You can do it :)

bnhtla: Awesome loss this week!

sizzlin: Nice job :) I hope this week feels better for you!

Right, I owe an explanation now don't I? :P First lets tally up all thats gone wrong so we see why I am amazed! LOL 2 friends died, my SIL decided to go off on me for no reason in general, A friend was in the hospital, I think I failed my test, then I burned my hand while pouring tea and finally my brother decided it was a good idea to swallow a months worth of pills plus some pain killers all at once. Whew. thats alot he is ok now but the idiot had to have his stomach pumped and yea...big mess.

With all that stress and me still being sick, I havnt been able to do well, much of anything. On the plus side I was approved for financial aide for the fall :carrot: And somewhow managed to stay on track enough eating wise that I lost 3 lbs....go figure. I also lost an inch off my waist. Now this is a HUUGUGEEESS suprise for me because I ALWAYS gain weight when I am stressed out...go figure.

here is a before and after First picture my highest 320(im the one in purple:p), second picture yest 40 lbs down

Chickadee, I wore my hair in a french braid mostly but I would put it up in what I referred to as 'The Big Bun". Picture a huge unfrosted cinnamon roll across the back of my head. I also did a version of a french twist. Occasionally I would get crazy and try something else but nothing every looked as good as the picture. http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj427/penguinspics/jennifer816.jpg Ironically, now I wear my straight hair in a pixie cut {see profile picture}. I do miss wearing the combs, but not the brushing, washing and all that.

Cheshire, Love the idea of the indoor Easter egg hunt. I wish I had thought of that.

Kendra, my Mom feels she has to weigh every day to maintain. Different things work for different people.

JayTee, Mortal Combat Monday??? the exercise/fulitity line came from a clothes shopping trip. The plus sized pants were too big/fit weird, so I walked to Misses sizes all the while repeating 'this is a waste of time, they aren't going to fit, this is an exercise in futility...' Well I bought a size 18misses. So I came up with that line to remind me that I need to try anyway even if I don't think something is going to work.

Well, I took my scale out of the car, but just for a few minutes . . . I wanted to do the whole weight thing . . . and I'm retaining H2O . . . yeah!! My H20 % was 55.8%, for me the norm is 49-51% . . . so I'm feeling better about the scale now . . .

OK, it's back in the trunk of my car now :D

Kendra . . . you crack me up

Penguin . . . love the photo

Dreamer: Ever since I've started I allow myself 5 dark hershey kisses a day, I don't usually eat them (sometimes 1 or 2 a day, more of a mental thing for me) Now, I don't really care for milk chocolate . . . go figure

OK, I'm off to work!!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

As far as my goal for the week I vowed to work out for at least five days this week with walks during my workday breaks. I didn't focus so much on weight loss because my body holds onto it. I really don't, or at least in the past, see a loss till about week four of consistency. I was gonna do a leisurely walk on the treadmill, but I did a turbojam workout instead. It actually felt really good to get through it.

I love that this thread is so active and I am not afraid of the butt kicking Jillian style.

Lol
I had a horrible bout with scale addiction. I now see the scale as a tyrant! It was running my life and my diet. For the last few weeks, I have been living my life and dieting without the scale (except on weigh-in days.) I walk by and can hear it calling me. Sorry! I'm not going. I just want to be thin. I don't need the scale to tell me if I made it.
Ooops, I just fell off my soap box. Forgive the tirade! J.

:drill:
Sarge
I came on board after this site was well established. In fact, I lurked a few times and feared you were so "hard core" I couldn't make it! Luckily, here I am! (Always wondered about the history.)
So Here is the Chocolate Bunny Report: I saved for Sunday to be Binge day. So far I have attacked a box of yellow peeps and a choco/marshmallow egg. Ugh... disappointed. None of them were as good as I remembered.
Now what? Half a day to go and no longer Jonesing for junk.
Oh, well on to dinner at my son's house. Perhaps champagne... no bike to ride afterward. Wouldn't want to fall off the Nordic Trak.
Apologies for the rant about the scale. Nothing worse than a convert! Love and Happy Easter to all!!! You guys rock!!!:dizzy:

Well, I did it! I made it through Easter dinner!

We went to my mom's and though she is supportive of me losing weight she does treat special days like today as a chance to spoil me with gluten free goodies! :) I took a teensy piece of ham (no glaze) for the taste, one spoon each of green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and slaw. Then I did eat three spoons of broccoli casserole - due to the fact it was my favorite food ever and I haven't had it in two years because of the ingredients having gluten. :) Because I slacked off on the other food I felt it due to eat the broccoli. ;)

Then dessert time came.....DUM DUM. She made me homemade GF angel food cake - I took a two inch square piece, put strawberries on top with lite cool whip and called it DONE. Instead of southern sweet tea I drank green tea with splenda!

All in all a VERY successful day!

Let me ask you something - does anyone else get really irritated though? I walked 6.25 MILES (1hr 45 min) Friday and have eaten PERFECT this week (keeping cals to 1200 - 1400) then yesterday we went to a church camp clean up day. I worked myself SILLY sweeping, power washing for two hours, scrubbing floors on hands and knees - we were there and I was moving non stop for 7 hours. I didn't drink hardly any water all day and then I was UP this morning! It seems like when I'm working my hardest and eating my best that the numbers just will not go down. Strange. Yes, I'm measuring my foods and yes, I'm also logging every bite. I'm just a strange bird, we'll see what tomorrow holds scale wise. If I can just drink my water today maybe it'll move.

AmyLou, it sounds like you had a great day. I can relate. I joined Chicks in June of 09 and tried very hard for about a 14+ months to lose weight, mostly counting cals, and I would lose 5lbs only to gain them right back or just plain stall! I got so frusterated and in such a 'bad' mindset that I just quit trying. So here I am again but with a better mindset.

Dreamer, enjoyed your pictures, thank for posting. You look so posh in your avatar! Very mysterious, that over the glasses look. sorry to hear about all your family/medical problems

JoJo, congrats on no longer wanting junk food! Sometimes things just don't live up to the hype, or our memories.

Looks like Hubby and I won't be taking that hike. We both have migraines {opposite head sides too!} I've had them since I was 12 but he developed his more recently, but they are very similar. We did get out and divided then replanted about a million hostas. Okay, prehaps I exagerate a tad, closer to 25 with still more to do. He dug, while I divided and replanted. so at least we did something.

Dear Platoon! Sarge has officially had his fill of EASTER, relatives, crap food, etc. In less than 24 hours I will begin full tilt, battle of the biblical bulge, Monday Morning Mortal Combat on the 10 pounds I will lose by 5/31! Just saying!

Penguin--too bad about the bike ride, but those migraines seem to run rampant in this group. My relatives just gave me a migraine. I'm a firm believer in the Seinfeld episode entitled Festivus-For-the-rest-of-us!

AmyLou -- Nice job on making it thru Easter meal. At least you were faced with something green that resembled vegetables. There was NOTHING green at the polish fest I attended. Ham, polish sausage, egg soup, various cheeses. Paramedics were on stand-by as cholesterol levels rose.

Yoyo-- Yeaaaahhhh. If it were up to me I'd probably be a bit more "hard core," but then I'd be talking to myself...and that's when the food voices start calling me.

dreamer -- Glad you're back. You've had a rough go of things, but those pictures really show how far you've come!

Philly--I put you down for at least -.5 just so that we can add some number to the platoon total for the week. We're gonna hold you to that plan of working out 5 days this week.

MadamB--I hear you on hunkering down! No scales for you!

cheshire -- ewwwww, 6am start time means 4am alarm!

Sizzlin -- glad you're back at it physically and emotionally. Nice loss considering you went thru a rough patch too!

Linalin--You too. Keep sticking with it. We'll be around to pick you up when you pass out at the end of the week.

Reso -- just read your note...you ready for this?!?!? Sarge is sending you a

Hope you all enjoyed the holiday...tomorrow it's BACK TO WORK!!!!

I am so incredibly upset right now. I am just getting back into the swing of things, feeling great, and have a plan I was going to stick to. Then what happens- I get hurt! Normally this is something that would make me go, "well I guess I'll just eat what I want and not exercise till I feel better" which would last waaaayyy longer than just until I'm better. I can't let it happen this time. I'm only 20 pounds away from my goal. I need to do this.

Can you guys please help me come up with exercises that don't involve me going to the gym/using my left hand? I can still do the c25k workouts but I need other stuff for my off days. One of the big reasons I go to the gym is for upper body and also usually do cardio while I'm there.

This sucks.

Hello all! Congrats on everyones weight loss this week!

I had the flu this week and only made it to the gym twice, and was only down .5 pound =(. But im going to pledge 2 pounds this week.

Kendra!! = dont give up, keep on running and try focusing on working out your legs for a bit until you are all healed up. You can also do planks for your abs

Bummer Kendrab! Maybe check out youtube? There are lots of exercise stuff on there. I like sparkpeople and diethealth (diet.com) have mini workouts. Jennyford.com has three workout you can watch on the web in its entirety. May these will help you out while you heal.

I should look up how to do those. My bottom half really needs the work more than my top :smug: I've always been bottom heavy and even now still have my ghetto booty and thunder thighs- that's what really prompted me to start the c25k.

Do you (or anyone else) think that if instead of doing c25k 3 times/week I could just alternate days? Maybe do each weekly workout 4 times instead of 3 before proceeding to the next week (assuming I'm ready)?

I'm just really bummed. When I stabbed my hand and my hubby was helping take care of it I said "I deserve a burger for this!" and then I got mad at myself for even saying that!

Thank you! I'll check out the sites you posted. I might use my injury as an excuse to get a new kinect workout game lol. I've been kind of debating it anyway and getting some handweights due to the fact that the closest gym (where I go) isn't exactly close and the gas to get there is really starting to add up since I drive a v8 :(

Kendra, you can lift jugs with your other arm. If you can wear a backpack, pack weights, filled water jugs, bags of sand etc and walk around with it. also flexing you ab and back muscles while simply sitting there works too!

Kneed- SORRY! i think you got it from me.....

I hear ya madam...I never was much of a sweets girl so eh. My thing is the chinese, the pizza...basically the carbs :p

So far today i've walked 20K and biked another 10K whilst i finished cleaning up the house.

Weigh in tonight (official submission is 223 lbs), so i believe thats my 4, have one more ride i'll do later when the wind drops and it cools off a bit, that and i can push really hard , no one will see me labouring. :D

I half ways expected a couple more lbs with the big push i have given, i've probably aggravated my body into hold for the time being, after tonights ride it will be 100K of exercise in the last 3 days, i should lay off tomorrow but we'll see.

Anyways thanks for the hug JayTee, i don't like to burden others with such things, there are plenty of others who are more down trodden then i. I truly look to be positive as much as possible, it carries over into everything we do, i feel i owe everything good thats happened to me over the last year to my struggle for change, it's made me a better person physically and mentally.

Put me down for 4 more, time to reset the machine, will crack the 210's this time next week.

I am right there with you! I need my scale. I have gone a week without weighing in everyday several times, but I find that it makes me not try as hard if you will. For instance if I am slowly going up throughout the week because I am slacking or have changed something in my diet I will know it by weighing everyday and I can change it right away. Or if I losing consistently I feel motivated to work even harder! I am not obsessive about it though. I weigh every morning or every other morning once and I don't feel a need to the rest of the day.

Lol

Great job! I would love to see a 4 on the scale! ;)
Down 4.5 lbs week and survived week 2 of c25k! I'm pledging 2 lbs for this week.

Congrats!
I'm not sure how I managed it but I lost 2.1 this week. Shocked, honestly.

I pledge 2 this week. Also pledge to have a better week (mentally and physically)

Congrats to all of you who lost and those of you determined enough to stick with it.

We had an indoor egg hunt for our little ones as well. The yucky weather changed our plans.

I'm running down the list in my head of the reasons for a water gain... it's not muscles retaining water, not lack of sleep (I've slept very well this weekend), might be sodium but I actually tracked that yesterday and it was low... so it's either voodoo or hormonal, and I'm guessing the latter.

Ha!! I called it. Hormonal indeed; TOM started tonight. Because, you know, I only had it for 3 full weeks last cycle, and it only ended last weekend, so why wouldn't it start again this weekend?   Sorry, way TMI I know, but really?? This is beyond frustrating, especially because I'm trying to conceive!!

*deep breath*

The good news is: my f'ed up cycle hasn't kept me from exercising or eating well. :) I drove to the gym today only to find it closed (somehow, I totally didn't make the connection between Easter and things possibly being closed), and so I came home and went out for a 2.3 mile walk instead. Calories are on plan, as usual.

Sarge: I forgot to mention it earlier, but thank you for the backstory on this thread. That seems completely bizarre. :?: I'm sorry that happened, but I'm glad you started this thread... its success certainly says something, doesn't it? :D

(I can't remember if I posted this, but will post again because I think it's nifty!)

Last week, my trainer told me that jumping rope for 10 minutes is the equivalent to 20 minutes of RUNNING! :)

Wanted to share for anyone else who may be intimidated by running, like I am... but would love to have the benefits of running! Jumping rope is a lot of run and brings me back to my school days! :)

(As for running... more and more each day I'm noticing that I have a random urge to jog. I think the running bug will be biting me very soon!)

DREAMER: Nice loss this week!! And your photos look great - I can definitely see the difference the 40 lbs has made!

penguin: Mine isn't nearly as long as yours was (maybe middle of my back?), but I'm thinking about getting it lopped off. A few years ago it was shorter, between chin and shoulder length, and I liked it a lot that way. Less fuss. And sorry about the migraines :( Hopefully you and your husband can get a hike in next weekend - that sounds really enjoyable.

jojo: The good news is, the peeps and choco/marshmallow egg will seem a lot less appealing next time!

amylou: Sounds like a good day, with some nice GF treats! Glad you were able to stay on track through the holiday meal; I know those can be tough. And it definitely sounds to me like your body is just retaining water due to all the activity yesterday. That seems to be my answer for everything, but I swear I think some people's bodies just work that way!

Kendra: Sorry about the injury!! Good for you though for not using it as an excuse to scale back. As others suggested, planks are good, plus you can do squats, lunges, calf raises, and balance exercises, all at home. :)

Resolute: 100K in a week is more than enough to deserve a day of rest, and a day off would do your body good. You already know that though. :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Hi Everyone,
I am another newbie found by the Sarge. I've started a 100 day pledge with a small group and thought I would try and sign up with you ladies as well. I am seriously committed to meeting my goals this year and have been doing well so far but could always use an extra kick in the butt.
I am sorry to be late in checking in. I see the schedule is for Sundays so I promise not to be late again!
I had a good week last week and lost a total of 2 lbs.:carrot: My weekly goal is usually to get 1.5 so I'll stick with that again this week. I will stick with my calorie deficit 750 calories.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Good morning. :)

Four days sure does go by fast, everything is in order now, weather has been really nice all weekend, with another bright sunny day right now, i'm planning on cutting back a little on calories today because i want to ease up a bit on the exercise, i'm really beginning to think i am pushing to hard causing extra stress and actually working against weight loss.

Probably do a moderate walk this morning and a more relaxed bike ride later in the day, will be eating as clean as possible, lots of vegetables today, some fruit and a little bit of meat done on the BBQ.

Need to work on getting a little more sleep as well, i do believe it helps.

Have a good day ladies, lets all make smart choices.

Hi guys...
Sorry I was somewhat MIA last week. Had a busy spring break and haven't been on the computer until now. That said...I didn't meet my goal of 3 lbs....spring break and easter got the best of me. My gym was closed so no exercise. And, I'd be lying if I said I ate on plan. That said though, I somehow maintained. ?? Anyway. I'd like to pledge 3 lbs this week and this time I'm going to do it!!! I'm heading to the gym in a little bit and took all the left over easter "goodies" and have put them outside for the homeless to find.

Ok, I'm back, 2+ mile walk done

Also I meant to address someone, (can't remember who) but it was the person that was looking for exercises without using both hands . . . (I think you cut your hand or stabbed it . . . :sorry: I can't remember)

1. walking
2. jogging
3. crunches
4. more crunches (bicycle)
5. a back pack with the amount of weight you've lost so far . . . then walk!!!
6. do you have stairs in your house???? see how many times you can run up & down in 1 min, 5 min (no stairs in your house, is there a park or a city building with stairs ????)
7. boxing/kickboxing video
8. plank hold (get on the ground, like a push up position, but instead of on your hands, you're on your forearms and see if you can hold it for 5 min . . . not as easy as it sounds)
9. swimming (but I'm not sure if you have access to a pool)
10. Zumba, class or video
11. "WALK THE PLANK" . . . (SARGE, do you still have the website for this, I can't seem to find it) . . . this one WILL give you a full workout in a VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME . . . time yourself and let us know :D

You know what sucks... 50% off Easter candy! I did cave and bought a bag of dark chocolate mini eggs. I don't know why I bought them, but dark chocolate has always been my weakness. I will not go overboard, but I am going to allow myself two of those little eggs a day. I had hubby hide the bag for me when I came home with them. I made it through the candy at my son's school Easter party, all of those plastic eggs he got filled with candy and chocolate, all through yesterday with him getting a sugar rush and did so well. Those dark dark chocolate eggs though.. I couldn't say no! boo!

With my recent hand injury- I'm trying something out (btw- thanks madam for all of the one hand exercise tips!!!). I am seeing what I am able to lose for a month without going to the gym. It's not close and I spend a lot in gas every week to get there. If I can still continue to lose, I will cancel my membership!

I bought the JM 30 day shred today (anyone know if I really need both hands for this?) and plan to stick with it in addition to my c25k. I also bought a hula hoop!!!!! I don't know if the hula hoop will do me any good, but it's fun to do and my son was having a blast playing outside with his while I used mine. Oooh, the little things :)

I hope everyone is having a great day and sticking to their plans! My new classes start today and one of them is a math class- I am horrible with math. Hopefully this stress doesn't mess me all up!

The website MadamB refers to is: http://www.youregoingtosweat.com/the_challenge.html

They have a couple of new interesting titled exercise sessions in addition to Walk the Plank, such as Ball Buster, Armageddon, & Krabby Patty (which is how Sarge feels today)...so Sarge is returning to the gym after aerobic housecleaning to get rid of his gammon ham butt, carrot-cake flabby arms, and polish sausage jigglin belly.

later

p.s. Kendrab -- REALLY?!?!?! dark choc 1/2 price eggs?!?!!? ARGHHHHHHHHH!

Easter candy is evil and very difficult to deal with. I specifically asked my mother not to give me any chocolate this year when I came to visit for the holiday but of course, once again she didn't listen. She knows that I'm trying to be healthy but telling a Godiva representative not to give out chocolate is pretty much asking the impossible.
I've brought it all into the office to give away to co-workers. I of course can not tell my mother this but at least this way someone is enjoy the expensive chocolate even if it isn't me.
Everyone, stay strong and stay on plan!

We get to take April <--- to the vet today. A few weeks back she had ACL surgery on her right leg {previously had the left leg done} so she's been restricted to her crate and walking slowly, poor thing doesn't understand we are doing this for her own good. :dizzy: The vet is across the street from the off leash dog park so she's going to think she's going to the park, until we pull into the vets. sigh.

Groc shopping and other fun stuff like that for today. I'm hoping to get Hubby to do weights with me later. Its supposed to rain the rest of the week.

Chickadee, I keep thinking I want to grow my hair back out but then it gets longer, starts hanging in my eyes and driving me nuts! Also summer may not be the right time to think about growing it out.

Kelly, welcome, glad to have you join us. This is my first week with Sarge also.

*Sigh* I can relate to the family that insists on cramming temptation in your face. We had my in-laws over for Easter, Saturday and my mother in law insisted on offering me all the fatty, carby, sweet, delicious goodness, foods they brought to the party. The more bizarre thing, I found, is when I denied them all even after she insisted a little wasn't that bad, she seemed to get annoyed/irritated with me.

Like really?? I am trying to make a healthier lifestyle for myself and you get bothered by the fact that I won't eat anything you bring?? I guess she has never heard of trigger foods. A little bit leads to a lot of bits and that leads to 10 more pounds of fat and a lot of guilt.

I guess I am not surprised she doesn't understand. The whole family(including my husband) is normal weight and can pretty much eat what they please. Grrrr.. :dizzy:

Oh, and I can also relate to the evil Easter candy. My two kids got tons from family that is now sitting on top of my fridge taunting me. But I have not caved yet, and don't intend to. :D

OK, getting ready for my bike ride, it's BEAUTIFUL outside with just a light breeze :woohoo:

Kendra: I have 30 day shred, I love it when I'm in a time crunch . . . you work hard but you start and are done with the cool down in under 25 min!! She does use weights, but you could do it without weights, or if you have 1-2lb ankle weights you could wrap them around your wrists (I did this with my BL Last Chance Workout, that is how I started) or do they make wrist weights ??? Oh and as far as the dark chocolate, I allow myself 5 dark hershey kisses a day . . . I think I've eaten all 5 two, maybe three times in 6 months . . . Just knowing I can have them keeps my mind happy ;)

Penguin: I've had that done (ACL surgery, YUP 3 times in three years, UGH) soon she'll be running and forget about having had to go to the vet (poor puppy)

K3: Great job taking the chocolate to work, I'm SURE your co-workers LOVED IT!!

tschaff: I know how frustrating that can be, but understand I don't think your in-laws are trying to sabbotage you, but want you to enjoy the fruits of their labor . . . somewhere, sometime, someone said what they did was to accept a small portion of whatever people were offering only later to dump in the bottom of the trash can, of course that wouldn't work at a sit down dinner . . . take the things that are the lesser of evils for you, then hang onto it for a few minutes, set it down to do something, get something to drink . . . I guess the environment would have to be right also (e.g. you could actually slip away and dump the goodies) Just a thought . . .

OK OFF TO RIDE THE BIKE!!! :D

SARGE THANKS FOR THE LINK TO "WALK THE PLANK"

LOL...these stories remind me of the first episode of mike and molly. Molly is overweight and trying to lose weight. Her mom walks in the room with a big ole piece of cake and offers Molly some while she's on the elliptical doing her workout. I love that show!

BTW, I am glad that I do not have access to Easter candy.

Kendra-Jillian's workout of choice are intervals. You can do it without weight because she often does combo moves like lunges with curls.

Madam- thanks for the suggestion of using wrist weights instead! I have 3 lb ones so I used the wrist weight with my bad hand and a regular one with my good hand. The only thing that was tough (due to injury- the whole workout in general kicked my butt and left me really pissed off) was the push ups... I did figure out a way to do them "enough" to count.

My hubby watched all the moves to make sure I was doing them right and when he corrected my posture on them, I felt the burn so much more.

I'm proud of myself for getting through day one. I wanted to quit but with my baby girl sitting on daddys lap watching and my son "playing" along with me- I kept going.

Workout 2 of the c25k tonight and then a good nights sleep!

I didn't even BUY easter candy this year! :D I went today and bought snap peas, broccoli, kale, tomatoes, apples, canteloupe, quinoa and a rotisserie chicken. ;) Ha!

I helped my grandparents out this morning - push mowed their front yard and spent an hour slinging boxes/hauling things to their attic. I was BEET red when it was over - it was a very effective exercise idea, lol!

I weigh in on Tuesdays Sarge, sorry - I hope to have a loss reported in the morning!

Hello, lovelies!

I had a really nice Easter - I'm in charge of Youth Group at church and it's tradition that the group serves Easter breakfast. We (me and 24 teens!) served 411 people yesterday. I'm sure calories were burned as I ran around like crazy - and in heels, yet!

So great to see so many new people!!! I love hearing all those early victories! :)

I'm off to another meeting, then will be hitting the gym on the way home to C25k plus swimming laps!

fatarnp--added your pledge above... "Butt-er" is our silliness for moving/melting our large "butt" - er by any means possible. Check MadamB signature. 4 sticks of butter = 1 lb and the silliness just went on from there.

Hope you're all in sugar withdrawal from Easter goodies! Is that bad?

Sarge done for day. Launched missile attacks to the tune of 1,231 machine cals burned over 3 workouts and cleaned the whole frackin' house. Clean eating and tons of water. Now it's time to open the mess hall and then start over again tomorrow. I will be victorious over these final 10 pounds!

Butt-er is your butt, or fat same difference. Butter is basically fat so we use butt-er as an analogy for burning fat or weight. I think for every 1 lb you lose youve lost the equivalent of 4 sticks of butter. Youd have to look at madamB's signature to know for sure

ALRIGHT, SARGE IS BAAAAACK!!

Kendra: WTG on JM's 30 day shred and glad you found a way to modify those push-ups . . . NO EXCUSES, YOU JUST MADE IT HAPPEN!!!

Fatarnp: BUTT-er, I guess is my thing, it originally started with a friend of mine, sometimes when she only lost 1/2 or 1 pound, she would tell me she lost 2 or 4 sticks-o-butter (1 lb = 4 sticks) and butter is just fat, which is what we all want to lose . . . and things have grown and developed into sayings like get your BUTT-er in gear, MELT YOUR BUTT-er (re: get your A@@ up and move it, so you can burn some fat off your FAT BUTT-er) LOLOLOL . . . I think it's funny, but I have a fairly twisted mind :D Yea, I'm wordy . . . :) that's ME!! You've lost 22 lbs, thats 88 sticks of butter, think about it, THAT'S A LOT-O-BUTT-ER!!!

OK, ladies & gent SARGE is BACK and on a ROLL so watch your BUTT-er because I thought I heard that helicopter warmin' up!!!

SARGE shared with us some time ago that only 12% of people succeed at weight loss and after thinking for a bit . . . I think a majority is because they make excuses not to do the work . . . I have a splinter, I cut my hand, my knee hurts (there are times when you can't do the work, pneumonia, stuck at the hospital with sick kids) life happens . . . it's so easy to make excuses . . . but this thread is about those who are willing to overcome ALL those obstacles that life throws our way, sometimes on a daily basis . . . that doesn't mean we're perfect (I know I'm a LOOOOONG way from that) we are all going to slip and fall off the wagon and eat 1/2 a bag of jelly beans :o TRUST ME, SARGE WILL KICK YOUR BUTT-ER UNTIL YOU'RE BACK ON TRACK . . .

SO LET'S KICK SOME BUTT-ER THIS WEEK AND MAKE SARGE PROUD!!!!

NO EXCUSES, JUST DO IT!!!

Your last part totally just hit home for me! A few months ago I got bronchitis and the effects lasted a month. I could have EASILY stuck with eating right and some walking but instead said "I deserve comfort food. I'm sick" and crap like that. For a month after I was better, I still ate like crap and was lazy! When I stabbed my hand yesterday I immediately said "I deserve a burger for this!" seriously? What does a burger have to do with my hand?!? I'm glad I actually learned, finally, that any bump in the road does not mean an excuse to fail!!!

Thanks for posting this!

Awwwww MadamB, at the risk of Sarge almost seeming compassionate again, thanks for the recap! You're right! Sarge is indeed warming up that apache attack helicopter. As stated in our original declaration of intent on the first page of each new thread, reading too much touchy-feely crap makes Sarge's eyes bleed! That's why it's nice that we have a supportive balance in the platoon. :)

To those who've already melted their butt-er today, Sarge salutes you!

I was up today at 5am, had to be out by 5:45 and had like 4 hours of sleep. Needless to say I was dog tired after my drive home. HOWEVER, I put on one of my fav personalities podcast and did some hill climbs on the treadmill. Afterwards I stretched and it felt great! I want to do my workout before work tomorrow. Oh and I did my walks throughout my workday too! It was a leisurely pace but my goal was to get some air and take a stroll. I'm off to eat, relax and get to bed at a decent hour.

Kendra . . . You crack me up, I stabbed my hand, NOW I DESERVE A BURGER . . . TOOOOOO FUNNY . . . BUT THAT'S HOW WE FAIL . . . glad you're thinking straight . . . we ALL have our days though . . . wish I had someone to check out my posture (I've never even thought about that . . . maybe I'll move a mirror upstairs, at least I can watch myself)

Lucy: don't worry about it (we've ALL done it ) . . . that's why we have SARGE . . . to keep us on the straight and narrow :D NOW BUST YOUR BUTT-ER PRIVATE . . . LOLOLOLOLOL

OK, workouts for today: (I was off work, so I got a LOT done)

1. C25K, Week 2, Day 1 . . .
2. Walk (2+ miles, I walked back from the car fixin' place, they kept trying to give me a ride, but I just kept saying, NO, it's a beautiful day . . . )
3. Biking: 20.95 kM (that's 13 miles to the rest of us), 400 crunches and after a bit, 100 bicycle crunches . . .

I done did GOOD today . . . tomorrow . . . hmmmmm do I hear Jillian calling me????

OK, ladies and gent . . . it's time for our "A" game . . . I said this or something really close 1 or 2 threads back:

I've never exercised and then said "I wish I hadn't done that" . . . BUT, I HAVE sat on the couch tooooooo long, ate half a bag of jelly beans, a whole bag of chips, cheesecake, pizza (with a few too many beers), a pint of ice cream and EVERY TIME I say: WHY DID I EAT THAT, UGH!!!! (and I feel like CRAP afterwards)

Remember if you slip off the wagon, it doesn't mean you get to jump off the cliff . . . WE CAN DO THIS . . .

OK, my car is ready and I'm off for my 2+ mile walk back to the car fixin' place . . . today was a GOOD day for me, but who knows what tomorrow will bring . . .

EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD NIGHT . . . AND COME HERE IF YOU'RE FACING OBSTACLES (SO YOU CAN FIND WAYS TO OVERCOME THEM) OR NEED A GOOD KICK IN THE BUTT-ER!! (I KNOW I NEED ONE REGULARLY . . . <sigh>)

MadameB - you saying: "Remember if you slip off the wagon, it doesn't mean you get to jump off the cliff" reminds me of someone on this site saying once, "If you trip down a few stairs, you don't stand up and fling yourself the rest of the way down."

That mental imagery has always stuck with me - partially because it's good advice and partially because it's hilarious (in my mind, anyway!!!). I can totally see the silliness of someone throwing themselves down a flight of stairs!

Now, I see someone rolling off of a wagon....

Hey don't look at me, i had emergency abdominal surgery and took one day off, then proceeded to exercise as much as i could and lost 8 pounds that week to boot.

Today i've walked 10K and biked 12K so far, been easy though as i have the day off, will do one more bike ride, not sure if before i eat or after, hopefully cals will be around 2200-2400, not going to get much lower as i've had quite a bit so far today, one of the problems with sitting around the house doing nothing.

Back to routine tomorrow, i so hope i can bust through the 220's into the 210's this week. I'm not going to swear i'm going to but i swear i'm going to try my hardest, we'll see i guess.

I'm glad he was checking my posture. He's like my own personal sarge lol. At one point I said "I don't fricken care if I'm doing it wrong... At least I'm doing something!" and he goes, "yeah, that attitude will make you lose your ---" haha. He knows that I need the swift kick and goes right for my biggest problem area (that he loves and does not see as a problem lol). He definitely kept me going through day 1 of shred but I wanted to punch him by the end. Love him :)

In about half hour I'll be going to do day 2 of C25K. I'm tired but I'll make it through it. My "side goal" is to start week 3 off without waiting till night time. I WILL run during the day!!

Holy cow - chatty platoon! I go away for the weekend and come back to a new thread with 3 pages already? Awesome!

I'll post quickly now and then go back to catch up with everyone. I weighed in Friday morning before we left and was down 3.8 lbs last week. WOWZA! I think one of the scale fairies found her way to my house. I'll send her on to someone else for a while!

This week will be less stellar, I'm sure. I have some work to do to get rid of the "baggage" brought home from Easter weekend at grandma's. I ate smaller portions of the worse stuff and loaded up on veggies and water. I'll see where I'm at on the scale tomorrow morning and pledge for the week based on that.

OK, last post tonight, I promise, (maybe)

SOOOOO INSPIRING TO ME: I was walking to the car fixin place. I walk by a laundromat and there is a, ummmmmm, larger woman outside running in place, doing jumping jacks, and other such exercises. She had two kids with her, maybe ages 4 & 7 (I'm guessing), they too are jumping around "exercising" they were yelling: YOU CAN DO IT MOM, JUST ONE MORE MINUTE . . . talk about SUPPORT . . .

Pokey: Oh I like your analogy better . . . oh sooooooooo funny in my head too!!!

Reso: you crack me up man . . . Quote: "Hey, don't look at me" Well, I think SARGE is going up in that dang helicopter and keeping an eye out for "frackin' easter candy" and to make sure we're all HUMPIN' OUR BUTT-ER . . . LOLOLOL (I don't have any jelly beans, so I'm good :D )

Good job on all the mobility today by yourself, it doesn't always show up immediately but you just know it still requires that energy and will show itself sooner or later as a loss.

Reso - grandma was doing amazingly well. She's 92 and in very good health for her age. She lives in a small town just a couple of blocks from Main St. so she's able to still walk to run her errands most of the time. I'm amazed at the energy she has to bake and cook all day and then stay up visiting all evening. And she even scolded me for offering to strip the sheets off our bed saying "And then what would I do all afternoon??"

PEANUTT - WTG! You dropped another brazil nut this week and brought the platoon to 81% of our goal! NICE, NICE, NICELY DONE!

Reso -- 210's goal?!? That might be stretching the envelope a bit. Have you started to wrap your brain around what you're going to do when you reach goal? That's going to be as emotional as your journey. You are definitely going to have to set a new life goal, and I'm really serious about that. You've put in so much time and energy you'll need a new hobby to fill that void.

Gooey-- You should have just randomly jumped into to that group jumping jack while shouting "yeah MOM, we can do it!" THAT would have been funny!

Kendrab -- Don't you DARE continue that vampire mindset. You get out there and run in daylight if you feel like it. This is about YOU...not what you think others will think of you. Read back in the threads. Pokey even tripped and ate pavement in front of landscapers and some chatty women.

Remember, Sarge could be tossing your bunk and conducting foot locker check for left over Easter treats at any time!

Hey 219 is still in the 10's. :D I should be able to pull it off, if i don't go all EMO this week. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6874/bleh2c.gif Yeah maybe you are right, thats asking a lot. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8744/wtfvs.gif :D

I will probably revise things when i get to my goal, maybe another ten, but i would take my time, maybe 10 years or so. :p J/K it is kind of scarey, my whole life has been rebuilt around as much exercise and as big a caloric deficit as is reasonable, i will be able to slow down on the exercise a little, would be nice if my joints felt a little better, i certainly don't plan to stop though, i will have to come up with a new plan at maintenance and be accountable weekly at seeing it through though.

You don't have much more to lose either, so you had better come up with something workable as well, unless you want to do this all over again in another year or two ?

Reso - grandma was doing amazingly well. She's 92 and in very good health for her age. She lives in a small town just a couple of blocks from Main St. so she's able to still walk to run her errands most of the time. I'm amazed at the energy she has to bake and cook all day and then stay up visiting all evening. And she even scolded me for offering to strip the sheets off our bed saying "And then what would I do all afternoon??"

Yeah, i hear ya, my great grandma lived to be 101, must be something in the water out here. :dizzy:

Madam- that's so cool about the mom and her kids!!

Sarge- I'll rum during the day Wednesday for w1d3... Better? :)

My day 2 c25k tonight didn't go so hot. I did the 5 min walk, made it through the 20 min intervals and got a major side cramp. I could not finish 5 min walking. I don't go too far from my house (a small circle around the block) so the cool down walk was maybe 30 sec. I couldn't do it- I was in so much pain.

Ready for a little chuckle? I always eat a small bowl of cereal at night and tonight while I was making it my hubby looked at the hula hoop and said "I bet you can't eat your cereal and hoop at the same time!" he was WRONG! I totally hula hooped while eating my cereal! :) I won that bet!

April WHINED the entire trip to the vet, the whole time there, but was quiet on the way home. She is doing very well, next month we have to take her bacl for xrays, but after that all should be well.

We {I} bought one of those fancy scales that tells body fat, bone/muscle mass, and all sorts of stuff. I've wanted one for a long time but thought they were too expensive, but I found one for $40. Setting it up and programing should be fun. Ha.

Glat to see that everyone is doing so well.

I honestly hate walking. Mostly cause I couldnt walk straight to save my life. I seriously look like a stumbling drunk. Balance issue I suppose.

Evening, all! I went to bed earlyish last night (for me, lol) and so was up WAY too early this morning - about 3:45am! But it's been a good day regardless. Weight is still up but I know the reason and am not stressed in the least. I got to the gym tonight for an hour despite forgetting to actually turn on the dryer after I put my workout clothes in it :dizzy:, and am within my calories today as usual. And there is NO Easter candy in my house. :D

I spoke with my best friend tonight; she's pretty stressed and down about her weight, and she joined weight watchers today. I think she's gorgeous and perfect (she seriously has the most perfect legs I've ever seen), but of course it doesn't matter what other people see - it's how we feel about ourselves. I gave her as much support as I knew how over the phone, and I'm going to send her some recipes and food ideas tonight. I'm thinking about linking her to this forum... I'd be embarrassed to have someone I know see what my actual weight was and is (no one in my real life except for my husband and my doctors know), but her success and happiness is more important to me than my embarassment. So maybe we'll see her here at some point. She's amazing. :)

phillygirl: Nice job today!! I was so tired as well, but really, really happy I got to the gym. I feel so much better after I go. :)

Kendra: I like the stories about your husband - very cute! I need him to talk to my husband, who in one breath says "I'm so proud of you" and then in the next says "Just skip the gym tonight and stay home with me". :dizzy:

peanutt: Welcome back!! What an awesome loss last week, and I'm glad you had such a good trip!

MadamB: I LOVE LOVE LOVE your story about the woman and her children outside the laundromat. That seriously made me teary (I blame TOM). Thanks so much for posting about that.

Sarge: Holy moses that's a lot of machine calories burned!! When I get up to 600 on the treadmill I feel pretty darn pleased with myself, lol.

Resolute: I know you'll do everything possible to hit the 210s this week - good luck! :)

Sorry I'm not responding to more tonight (there's been so many posts today!), but I need to gather some recipes and such. :) I'm really glad to see everyone with renewed energy today!! Let's make it a great week and make Sarge happy. :)

I'm still running running running! Who knew I'd actually be a runner. I actually like it and look forward to it now. I'm so excited to get up to where I'm running a full mile...then two...then... :D

And I love swimming laps afterward!!! Feels so nice and not much like a workout, even though I'm breathing pretty hard and get my heart rate up pretty high.

So, that's what I did today. Week 5, day 1 of C25k, 30 minutes brisk walking on a 10% incline on the treadmill and 25 laps in the pool!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!!!!

Good Morning All!

The crack of thunder woke me up this morning. It's storming here again.
It's only suppose to last half the day, I think. So hopefully I can get outside after work for a walk or run or something.

Penguin-Glad that April is doing good!

MadamB-I third or fourth or whatever the story about the woman and her children! Way to get it done...we just need to get out there and do it like her.

Kendrab-Your husband sounds awesome! Such a good support system. And way to rock in on the hula-hoop.

Pokey-Sounds like a great exercise day.

Well, it's off to work I go.
Have a great day all! I look forward to seeing what butt-er burning exercise or just crazy mischief you all get in to today!

Morning everyone, Got up a little earlier today, riding the bike to work for some extra exercise, it's only a couple of miles but every little bit counts.

Will endeavour to keep intake reasonable, seems to be my problem spot as of late, probably just being to hard on my body.

chickadee: Your friend would be welcome here, not sure we could help anyone, still it's nice to be around others who are trying hard to better themselves as well.

sizzlingina: I felt the same way reading about others and their bikes, it's fun and pretty good exercise to boot.

Pokey : I'm glad you seem to of found some exercise that makes you happy, for me it's walking and biking, i really do enjoy them, makes it so much easier.

Still can't beat Cheshire up LOL, i'm beginning to think you don't sleep. :p

GOOD MORNIN' GRUNTS . . .

Just a quick check-in. . . JM 30-day-shred, 400 crunches and 100 bicycle crunches (I didn't do these last night, soooo I needed to do them today) Raining HARD outside so I'm glad I got outside as much as possible yesterday. C25K tomorrow and it's suppose to still be raining . . . soo I'm off to the store to find some kind of rain jacket so I'm not a drowned rat when I finish . .

Cheshire: you said you feel like a BAD A@@ after you run in the rain . . . I guess I'm gonna find out tomorrow :yikes:

Chickadee: just before I saw the woman exercising I passed a guy (too cute) jogging and IMMEDIATELY thought of you . . . he had on a back pack . . . it was all I could do not to laugh :D

pokey: your running amazes me, OK EVERYONE THAT RUNS, AMAZES ME . . . still not sure if I'll be a runner but I'm sure trying so I can do that Warrior Dash . . .

Reso: 219.9 is still 210's . . . I have my fingers :crossed: for you !!!

Peanut: Welcome back, sounds like you had a great time with your Grandma . . . just hope you didn't bring back any "frackin easter candy" SARGE is tossin' bunks

OK knee is screaming, probably the rain, but ibuprophen on board and icing now . . . off to the bike store to buy a headlight of some kind for riding at night (Reso I'm planning on riding to work too, (3 miles,) I won't even get sweaty :) and a rain jacket . . .

ready for the day! get out there and do something!

First of all - WELCOME to all the new recruits!! I love to see this platoon grow!

Chickadee - You should definitely link your friend to the forum. I know that WW is set up with their own meeting support system, but I think that this forum is such an incredible tool for advice and support. And this particular thread is one of the best I've found for true accountability.

Pokey - Isn't this feeling great? I just finished week 5 and felt so amazing during that 20 minutes of running that I just kept going. I can't wait for you to do that W5D3 workout and hopefully get the same feeling!

Madam - I did have a great time and I'm glad to be back! There was no Easter candy at grandma's, but there was lots of homemade white bread, homemade sausages of different types, ham, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese pie, etc. :yikes: I did see your second day of C25K and did 100 more crunches during one of my weekend workouts. Holy cow, I hurt so much...much more after the second go round than the first last week. I defintely have to work up to doing that again!

Madam and Reso - love that you're biking to work!! I've become quite a biking convert and love to see people incorporating it (and exercise along with it) into daily life and daily routines. That's truly a lifestyle change!

I weighed in this morning and I'm only 0.8 lbs up from where I was Friday morning. I credit the new-found self-control that I wasn't quite sure I had until it was tested. There were lots of opportunities to go totally overboard with eating grandma's delicious holiday foods, but I limited myself to just one piece of sausage or bread. I also think the fact that DH and I ran 3 of the 4 days we were away really helped control the damage.

Speaking of running....I wanted to share this victory with the platoon. I was out doing my C25K run on Friday evening with my DH. I got to the end of the workout and we were walking for a bit and I was telling DH how good I felt and how I felt like I could just keep going. He said "well then, let's keep going!" So we kept running. He was checking in regularly about how I felt and I was keeping an eye on my HRM and everything was feeling great. We ended up running 5K!!

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this chatty platoon this week!!

The jury is out on the fancy scale. Apparently there's some overlap of percentages, and I'm not quite sure what to do with this information, LOL. It wouldn't register my presence on 'normal' but only on 'athlete' so I take that as a compliment! Downside is I can't read the stupid thing, upside is I lost 4lbs overnight!

Bread is rising, need to start laundry, need to make my weekly calls {last week of this for the summer!}, cardio/weights for later. :dizzy:

Keep those butt-er blast furnaces churning peeps! We don't care if you stoke them with runs, bikes, walks, slogs, shreds, weights, stairs, hula hoops, trampolines, kettle bells, jumpin jacks, stealth maneuvers or whatnot...just DO IT!

Hey gang, just checking in.
It feels so good to be back on track, and back in the gym. Working out keeps my sugar/carb cravings in check and since I was a slacker last week--my cravings were starting to get intense! I noticed immediately after working out that they were going away. I was already down a pound when I got on the scale this morning so I am confident I will meet my loss goal. Cleaning the house today then off for an hour at the gym--I think I will even get a pilates class in today.

Completed day 2 of the 30 day shred program. Im in so much pain! I've also hula hopped for about 15 min so far through out the day. I read somewhere that o ly doing it for two minutes at a time is the most effective so... That's what I'm doing :)

I plan to play dance central for an hour at some point tonight after I get my homework done. I love trying to beat my highest scores and not letting any of my friends that play be higher than me on the leaderboard. Yes, I'm competitive like that :)

Two days into getting back into the routine! Yesterday with my trainer he really gave me a good workout! An hour with him and I was literally dripping sweat, and then I did a mile walk for my "cool down."

Today I did 5 miles on the bike and 2 miles on the treadmill. I was planning to jump rope after the gym but it was pouring so hopefully tomorrow.

Also really considering adding JM 30 Day Shred to my routine after the gym!

I really WILL catch up on personals, I promise! Been so busy... last week it was spring break and the older kids were with their mom so I used all week to catch up on the projects i had for myself around the house: Painting furniture, painted the side door and trim, cleaning, laundry, fixed my fireplace, cleaned the garage, planned and drew out plans for building a bench in the garage (turning it into a man cave for my bf!)... so much more but I can't even remember it. So I never got to my dance central. My stupid math homework took me over two hours to do tonight (and this is only week 1... Ugh). Tomorrow I am doing my 30 day shred, dancing, and am going to try and sneak in a bike ride somewhere to make up for my lack of dancing today but no promises on that! I have more homework to do tomorrow. these next 16 weeks are going to be very hard (which sucks because my original *deadline* of getting to 135 is less than 16 weeks away.

I need a good push right now. I could get off my lazy butt and do something or try and get a good nights sleep. Hmmm...

LOL, i know, on the other hand i have nothing to lose, you've all seen my ugly mug. :D

Had to many cals tonight by about 400 , so i made myself do another 10K bike ride (only takes half an hour and burns around 4 or 5 hundred cals :) ), so thats 25K on the bike and 10K walking today plus work. :carrot:

I like the bike, seems easier on my joints and burns cals faster when you push hard.

So, who won the game? Resolute, if you lose, I think you need to SMILE in a photo. :p

MadamB: I laughed out loud when I read your note about the backpack guy!

peanutt, Resolute and penguin: I did send her the info about this site, so we'll see what she decides to do with it. :) I agree completely peanutt, and I'm so grateful for this site and the people here.

Sarge: I like the ditty. :) Between that and the theme of this thread, I'm feeling an urge to watch Full Metal Jacket. Not the most uplifting film, but good nonetheless.

Nice job, all, on the exercise today! It sounds like everyone is really on top of their workouts. I've been thinking I need a day of rest, but then I read your posts and think I would feel a bit like a slacker by taking one. :)

So, Passover ended today, yay! I am really pleased with myself for staying on track through the entire holiday. I only missed one day of exercise, and only had one day where my calories were over 1500 (and only slightly at that). It feels like an accomplishment.

Today was fine: calories on plan, and got to the gym this evening. I got through my planned workout, but it was a tough one again... I just felt so sluggish and drained. The scale was still up this morning but down a bunch tonight :?: so we'll see what tomorrow looks like. I am so anxious to hit that 50 lbs lost, lol.

Sorry again today that I'm not more energetic. I am super tired tonight, and heading to bed soon. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. :)

Morning everyone, just finishing up a coffee, sorry about the game last night JayTee ;)

Chickadee : Pfft... Smile ? Not today.... Muhahahaha. :D

BTW, good job on sticking with it through difficult times, I'm sure you will see further movement when you get back into routine, IMO the stress of change hampers the regularity of losses for whatever reason.

Looking to have a similar day today as yesterday, maybe minus a few cals i didn't really need. :)

Do what you gotta do to burn that energy every chance you get. :)

Cheshire : What the heck ? Where are you girl ? :p

morning everyone! I never got off my lazy butt last night so today I WILL stick to plan with exercise! I'm in a great mood! I took some progress pics today and am in shock. I keep seeing myself so much heavier, but today- these pics I took and compared to prior ones just made me realize that I'm freakin doing it!! It feels great that for once I can REALLY see my progress :)

I hope everyone stays on plan today with me!!! Today will be day 3 of shred, bike ride, AND dance central. My plan is to do all exercise before even looking at homework so I don't get discouraged lol

Morning, all!

Sarge: ooo, sorry. :( We'd better all watch out today!

Resolute: One day we will see a smile, right?? :D Thanks for the support - I know I have been on track and so know I'm losing even though I don't see it on the scale... but I'll be happy when I see the drop. :)

Kendra: Good luck with the workout and the studying today! When I was studying for my exam a few weeks back, exercise felt like a nice, and much needed, break from the studying. It definitely helps with stress! And congrats on the photos - I imagine it's very exciting to be able to see the loss so clearly!

Scale was at least back down to 231.0 this morning, so that's something. Too bad I saw that number last Friday and Saturday, and have just been artificially up since Sunday, lol. I suppose it will just make it feel that much more satisfying when I finally get below 230. :) Today will be on plan, of course, and I am REALLY looking forward to having my grande skinny caramel macchiato and Fiber One bar again this morning - I have missed them the last week! :D Have a great day everyone!

Chicakee--Nah, Sarge is cool with loss. Plus, I still have the Bulls this season. I hope your friend joins us. We're "mostly" harmless. And you're right...it may be time for another viewing of Full Metal Jacket!

Kendrab--Feel free to share those progress photos.

Sizzlin--Sarge is the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz...we're gonna look at Kendrab's photos instead...lol!

Ok, all...it sounds like everyone had a good day yesterday. Let's keep it up, think of you're skinny selves strutting around this summer in all those revealing clothes! WORK HARD!

GOOD MORNING ALL YOU HUMPERS!!!
IT'S TIME TO HUMP YOUR BUTT=ER
SO GET YOUR A@@ UP AND MOVE IT PRIVATES !!!

OK, just a quick check in, C25K done for today, I swear it's gonna kill me, but I always feel so good after I'm done. NO SNOW OR RAIN while I was running, :D soooooooo VERY HAPPY about that, but temps were in the 30's, (I think 36) So I was layered, gloves and a quick wick shirt under it all so I didn't get cold on the walking parts . . .

Phillygirl, hope you got your BUTT-er up and MELTED SOME OF IT!!!! IF NOT YOU BETTER GET A MOVIN' AS THE HELICOPTER IS WARMED UP AND SARGE IS LOOKING FOR SOME BUTT-ER TO BUST . . . LOLOLOL

Chickadee: I do believe I'm changing my C25K, at least the direction I run, would love to see the guy with the back pack AGAIN :o OK, maybe I'll be the stalker for a bit . . .

Reso: Hmmmmmmmm, congrats . . . I guess . . . I like the blackhawks . . . OK I love HOCKEY . . .

Cheshire: Yea, where are you???? did you go stealth???

Peanut: WOW, 5K . . . you should be SOOOOOOOOOO PROUD . . . Week 5 we run for 20 min . . . :yikes: . . . OK, I just need to concentrate on the week I'm in . . . Are you still doin' crunches whenever I run????

Kendra: Yea, you better move it . . . SARGE IS A CRABBY PATTY . . . :dizzy: SO WATCH OUT!!!! . . . How's your hand ???

Sizzlin . . . we'd all like to see Sarge but I'm afraid that pic of him eatin' crow is probably all we'll ever get . . . :( . . .

Dreamer . . . today is a NEW day and time to get the eating under control . . .

Penguin: OH NO . . . TRY TO KEEP AFLOAT!!! . . . NOT GOOD!!!

OK, personal, NSV (especially since it's locked in the trunk of my car) <sigh> . . . I went to Walmart yesterday and was looking at the clearance rack (I don't want to spend lots of money on "in-between clothes" and I only have 1 pair of pants that actually fit, & 2 pair that are too big, but I can wear them if I cinch them up tight with a belt. Anyway, there were a couple pair of pants . . . no size 8's, but a pair of 6's, so I said, what the he**, what's the worse that could happen . . . THEY FIT, WHAT?????? (it's was only about a month ago that I got into 8's) I really think they've changed the size of clothes because when I was a firefighter I weighed 130-135 and wore 6's & 8's . . . and that was when I was 30 pounds lighter . . .

OK, BACK AT IT TO BUST SOME MORE BUTT-ER . . . AFTERALL, ITS

HUMP DAY

HOW ARE YOU GONNA BUST YOUR HUMP??

Chickadee - Congrats for staying on track through a holiday season. It definitely is an accomplishment! It feels so good to be able to mark these holidays with family, while still staying on track with your personal goals. You mentioned being sluggish during your workout and super tired. Do you track intake other than calories? I find that when I am working out more I need more protein in my day. You will hit that 50 lbs lost very soon!

Sarge - I'm sorry your Hawks lost, but I am pretty pleased the Canucks managed to pull through. Gotta cheer for the Canadian teams! Thanks for adding a pledge for me. I'm on board with that!

Kendra - Congrats on seeing your progress! It's such a motivation to see how far you've come. Share a glimpse of your progress with us?

Madam - Don't even think of what's ahead! Trust the program and know that you'll be able to do all the workouts in time that seem impossible now!! I'm not doing as many crunches, but I have worked them into some regular workouts. Someday I'll be able to keep up with you and Sarge! And GREAT NSV!!! You rock!

I'm leaving in a few to go get my son from school but I will *think* about posting the pics when I get back. Oddly enough, I'm still really embarrassed by my before pics. I know I don't look like that anymore, but I did, ya know?

This morning I went for a 5 mile bike ride with my mom! It's hot as heck here in FL and the wind was in our faces the whole time- made it that much more effective! We were both dripping with sweat by the time we got back to her house! I left her house and came home and did day 3 of 30 day shred! It's starting to get a little easier!!! yay!

To the poster asking about my hand (sorry I'm on my ipod)- it's feeling a lot better. Still hurts if pressure is applied to it or I move it wrong, but better!

Time to get my little man from school, do some homework and maybe add some dance central into the mix today! I'm in a crazy exercise mood ;)

Was just working out to Dancing w/Stars tape from last night and Constantine Margoulis sang Whitesnake's song "Walk Alone." Powerful lyrics for those of us facing this daily weight loss grind on our own! Just thought I'd share the refrain:

Here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time

And then I did flabby arm bench dips, apparently went to low and popped my sternum! OWWWWWW frackin' OWWWWWWWW!

Kendrab--I feel the same way about before pics, but when I reach goal, I'm gonna post before and after with my face blotted out.

Peanutt--Good luck to all my Canadian friends in the playoffs! Also, you don't need to try and keep up with MadamB & Sarge. They're Warrior Dash psychotics!

MadamGoo -- Melting Butt-er like no other. 6's?!?! Are you kidding me? I was happy to do the lay on the bed jiggly dance to get a pair of 10's buttoned and zipped a few days ago. You go girl!

Penguin-- Penguins can swim right? But seriously, not fun! Cleaning muck out of basements really s**** big time! If I could send the sun out to you I would but Chicago is in something like day 7 of crud weather.

YAY!!! nice going chikadee. I always fail at passover (not that I try seriously) I am jewish by birth (on my fathers side) and there has always been a religious war between my sides of my family as to whether I should be catholic or jewish. Recently I decided to tell both sides to f*** off and decided I am wiccan :D I TRY my best to observe holidays from all three religions since I was born jewish, raised catholic and believe spiritually in wicca, they all hold a special place in my heart ;)

Reso, you can do it!

Hey Platoon!
I missed my morning post. It always puts me in the right frame of mind. (Butt-er kickin' time)
That...and I just like being first. HAHA.

But it's been stormin' here again. The electricity went out in the wee morning again and stayed out until after I left for work. I can't get on at work either. Then tornado warnings/sightings again. Our weather has been quite fun here in the South lately.

But anyhoo--time to play catch up.
For my own exercise I did a 2 mile run. It's conservation time here in my world...saving it all up for Saturday. Wheeee.

Sarge-Ha, love your 'picture' you mysterious, demanding Sarge you! I totally need to save that and use it for when I open my big mouth though. Perfect.

Penguin-I hear you about the weather. It's crazy out there lately.

MadamB-You running fool! Way to work it. And love the NSV. It's always a great feeling to be able to slip into something you think you can't.

Dreamer-Oh you sly one, you just want all the holidays! LOL. Way to stay on plan for the day!

Kend--Ohhh, looking good! You are making awesome progress.

I so carry my weight in my thighs. Drives me crazy when I go to look for pants. The waist will fit but trying to stuff my thighs through those legs. Arrrrggg.

Reso-Looking good and gruff! Is that your 'What you lookin' at, punk' face?! Because we are looking at one fat burning machine!

Okay, I feel caught up and motivated! I need my daily dose of the Platoon to keep me going!

Kendrab1223

Cheshire- I know alll about the thigh/pants problem. It stinks and no matter what, I always have to wear a belt with jeans because of it. I've actually found a new found love of SKIRTS and SUNDRESSES recently- I don't have that problem with them!

Friday one of my close friends and I are going shopping, out to lunch, and for a SEVEN mile walk. Her and I started our weight loss voyage on the same day and she is doing amazing and helped me back on the wagon recently. We havent seen each other since so itll be awesome to see the changes in each other! We're going to a not so great place for lunch, though- five guys. Back when we first started we said "after we both lose 10 pounds we'll go out to eat at 5 guys for a victory meal! We both decided at 10 pounds lost that it wasn't worth it. My goal- only eat half a burger and limit the fries I eat (my biggest weakness). This will be the true test of my willpower lol

Looks like I'm going to have to repeat a week on C25k...just can't get the 8 minute run finished, so the 20 minute is probably a no-go for this week. I pushed hard, but I started to not feel "okay" and slowed it back down to a brisk walk at about 6:30 into the 8 minutes.

How irritating! :tantrum:

Thank god the universe is in balance again. When Chesh goes missing, we all get worried. Good luck to all you in the bad weather belts this week!

Kendrab--Seriously?!?! If you and your friend BOTH lost weight I'm sure you can find a better way to celebrate than to eat than 5 Guys burger and fries. Why on earth would you want to eat that stuff willingly when you know how much it takes to work off that kind of "treat?" Go for a massage, manicure, or treat yourself to a new sundress or something.

Pokey--Keep working/running. If C25K isn't perfect for you, who cares. When I started "training" for that 10K I was ran from fire hydrant to fire hydrant. Do what you can do and know that you'll cross that finish line!

Have a stellar evening all!

Sarge- we're already treating ourselves by shopping :) I think a little cheat meal is allowed once in a while and we're going to walk after (or maybe before) to make up for it. That counts, right? Massages and manicures are not my thing lol. At least I'm making a goal to not eat the whole burger or a whole large fry! My old cheat days consisted of "eat as much crap as possible because it'll be a while till you eat it again"!

:)

Day 3 of c25k tomorrow- DURING THE DAY!!!!! I'll probably die from the heat. Good ol Florida :)

Oh no!!! That will probably be me! I hope you haven't gotten any injuries from wiping out.

I think I'm more worried about being the fat chick running. The first day I rode my bike, some guys yelled "fat a--" out the window. I came home and just criiiiied. Here I was trying to change things and still got put down. I'm just worried something similar will happen I guess. At night, it's less likely to happen (in my own head).

That happened to me a few weeks ago - I went running around ASU's campus with my skinny cousin and some stupid frat boys yelled something about a "hottie and a fattie." what're you going to do? People that make fun of others usually have something they don't like about themselves...don't let it get to you

Sarge: My friend isn't easily intimidated, but even she might be a little nervous with this group! You all still scare me sometimes ;) (not in a bad way though). And I love that Whitesnake song. :) Oddly, it reminds me of my mom... I was young when that song came out, and I remember her turning the volume way up in the car when it would come on the radio. :) OW on the sternum - I hope the pain disappeared quickly!

penguin: I hope all the storms are over for you! We're supposed to get some more overnight and through the morning tomorrow here... but I hope they've already passed by you. Nice workout today!

MadamB: LOL again!! You know, on your non-C25K days you could always walk that route wearing your own backpack... :D I have seen no more backpack-clad men, but when that guy at the gym gets on a treadmill near mine I see the heart rate monitor on my treadmill shoot up... :o lol. YAY on the pants!!! That's so great!

peanutt: Thank you! I have been tracking calories, fat grams and fiber, and *just* started tracking protein on Saturday. Yesterday I ate 66.1g (far short of my 100g goal), but only had about 40g prior to the gym. I was thinking yesterday it could be a TOM issue... but today I had the same thought about the protein, and so made sure I ate a good amount of it before each of my workouts (greek yogurt before a walk this afternoon, and turkey chili before the gym tonight). I felt MUCH more energetic today, so that very well could have been the issue! Do you track your protein intake? How much do you try to eat per day?

lucyford: Awesome job on getting to the gym! How did the river trip go?

DREAMER: That's so funny - my husband's family is a big mix of religions too. Both my husband and I are Jews-by-choice (we converted together about 8 years ago, before we married); his step-father is Jewish by birth but converted to Christianity and he and my MIL are Evangelicals; one BIL is Christian; my SIL (husband's step-sister) and her husband are both Jewish by birth; and the other BIL (husband's step-brother) is Jewish by birth but he and his wife are agnostic. :dizzy: I am a big fan of religion by choice... I was very anti-religion for a while, and only converted because I truly felt that Judaism fit the beliefs I already held on my own. I am glad you have found what works best for you!

Kendra: You look fantastic!! You've done such a great job... what motivation to keep going!! And I'm with you on the thighs, lol. I can't stand mine. :( I am thinking I will post some progress photos after I reach 50 lbs lost... but there won't be much difference between the before and current, as I still have a long, long way to go.

Resolute: I said it before, but you look seriously thin!! Honestly. Your transformation is just incredible. And I, too, like the facial hair. :)

Cheshire: I hope you fared well through the evening with the storms! And if I forget to post it later this week, good luck with the race on Saturday!

pokey: You've been doing awesome with the C25K, and whatever your pace through the program you are making great progress! :)

pintamino: Glad to see you back!

So, in an effort to get this f'in water weight out of my body, I did two workouts today! First day ever for that. :) Early this evening a co-worker and I did a fast 2.4 mile walk (and then went back into work all sweaty, lol), and then tonight I went to the gym and did strength training on upper and lower body and then hopped on the treadmill for 35 minutes. All told, 115 minutes today. I feel GOOD, and less tired than the last few days. I want that scale down tomorrow!! LOL. Food has been on plan as usual today, but I still need to get in another 400 calories or so before bed.

And not weight loss related, but kind of neat... a case that I worked on a few years back has popped up in the news the past few days, as the publication is finally coming out in print. I totally don't seek out that kind of public attention (and thankfully my name hasn't been mentioned anywhere), but it's still kind of fun to see something about it on news sites. :)

Yay for Mornings and another day to kick some butt-er!

Still are calmer here weather wise. I will getting in an after work walk with my co-workers.

Pokey-Don't stress about wanting to repeat a week. Part of being a runner is learning to read your own body. Knowing when you can push it and knowing when you need to back off because you are not ready or will injure yourself.

Chickadee-Great job channeling some Sarge and getting in two work outs in one day!! That's amazing!
That's exciting about you seeing your case on the news.

Okay I have to fun, I need to make lunch and get myself to work.
I keep leaving the house a minute later each day. But the end of May the kids will be there before I will. HA.

Morning everyone, everything is back to normal, hiya Cheshire :D

Anyways had a horrible dream last night, left me with a negative aura, hope i can have a better day.

Working extremely hard on getting to my goal but don't seem to be seeing much progress, kind of defeating to my attitude, will need to buckle down once again.

Do what you gotta do, nothing matters more.

Cheshire: Thank you! I hope the weather is nice for your after work walk. :)

Resolute: I am sorry about your bad dream. My scale hasn't budged either - still at 231.0, lol. We've both been working hard though, and the scale WILL reflect that work eventually. :)

Still stormy here this morning. I have 5 hours of back to back meetings starting in an hour, so I'm off to work. Have a good day, all. :)

Yesterday;s weather wasn't nearly as bad as the night before. The sun is shining again today, hopefully drying out the puddles, and will shine until Sat when its supposed to rain again. Though it is a bit chilly at 54*

I have my second luncheon of the week today. This marks the end of my Bible study year. The leaders will have another meeting/luncheon in June, but basically I get the summer off.

Another lady at my chuch and I are starting a knitted/crocheted Prayer Shawl ministry next month so that should keep me busy.

Chickadee, good job ont he two workouts!

Sarge, you will be happy to know I lost my pound. Lets hope it stays gone until Sunday, so I can offically count it

RISE & SHINE PLATOON!

Reso--That negative aura comes from not smiling in your photos! Have a better day!

Chesh--I would love to tap into your mind during a day of dealing with kindergarten kids. One day you should just start off by saying, ok kids, today we're all going on a 9 miler!

Chickadee -- Sarge scary?!?! YES! No, really more tough love. That's why its so important his/her real face stay a mystery. You each have an image of who belongs to that inner voice nagging you about exercise and foods you put in your mouth. OMG, what if Sarge is just a compilation of all our mothers! <heebie-jeebie shudders> CONGRATS ON THAT 50!!!!!!

Pokey & Kendrab -- On behalf of the human race I apologize for the a**h*** who feel the need to yell at you on a run. Sarge has anger management issues, access to guns and wouldn't be nearly so Christian in turning a cheek. Hold your heads high and OWN the road you run in broad daylight!

Pokey & Kendrab's story of comments by others made me think of Peanutt's excursion to purchase smaller sized workout attire. Stupid cashier felt compelled to say something like, "someone's starting a diet..." and Peanutt fire back, ""no, already lost 50"...

Pintamint--WTG on a loss during finals! I'll put you down for another pound this week.

Penguin - flippers crossed that pound stays gone!

Phillygirl -- BTW, how's that 5 days of exercise pledge going?

Leaving this for Pokey! Eye of the Tiger!

GOOD MORNING ALL

Ok, maybe NOT so good, I took the scale out of the trunk . . . :yikes: I should have left it in the trunk . . . I tried to ride my bike, but it was snowing (that was fine) but then it changed to rain . . . rode until I was soaked and cold (temps in the mid 30's), needless to say it didn't take long . . . 400 crunches done, and a woman at work brought me 2 videos BL workout #2 and Billy's bootcamp . . . so I'm planning on doing at least one of them

Pokey: Yea, I'm the jelly bean queen . . . but haven't wanted any since I ate half a bag and pooped jelly beans for a week . . . not pretty . . . jelly beans are the

Chickadee: :congrat: on the 50 POUNDS, WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO, did you know that's 200 sticks-o-BUTT-ER MELTED AWAY FOREVER!!! Oh, I wouldn't want to see him with my backpack loaded down with weight . . . UGH!!

Kendra: daytime running . . . YOU GO!!!! and like SARGE said, own the road you run!!! I worry about wiping out tooo . . .

Penguin: I wish it was 54 here <sigh> although they are calling for upper 60's, maybe 70 tomorrow :) . . . so I'll be happy as I'm off work

Pinta: Glad you found your way back here, NOW GO MELT SOME BUTT-ER

SARGE: Yea, 6's and I tried on several pairs, some fit, some not so much . . . so I'm not completely there. You're much taller than I am and imagine 10's for you are like 6's or 4's for me . . . OH and the scale is NOT reflecting that size  :dizzy:

Reso: BAD DREAMS are not good, I dream really vividly . . . I always try to go back to sleep to get rid of the dream . . . Hey, did that truck with Wisconsin plates ever leave???

Peanut: How are you?? Is it any warmer there than it is here????

cheshire: I'm with SARGE, take those kids on a 9-miler, nap time will have a whole new meaning after that run :D . . .

OK, I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S UP WITH THAT DA@N SCALE, SO I'M PUTTING SMALL NOTEBOOK IN MY POCKET AND WRITING DOWN EVERYTHING I DO, EAT, SMELL, THINK ABOUT SMELLING OR EATING . . . Also I'm at work where I don't really do very much so I will be walking on the treadmill, I'm charging my MP3 player now so I'll have something to listen to while I walk . . .

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY AND STAY SAFE FROM TORNADOS, RISING WATER AND THUNDERSTORMS

I saw some news reports of crazy weather around the US. I hope everyone here is staying safe and free from harm!

Pokey - WTG on listening to your body and knowing your limits. What I have found is working for me is keeping my pace lower during my runs. This way I'm able to complete them, but just at a slower pace. Then I'll do some training to improve my pace over time. Good luck with the rest of your runs this week. I still can't believe when I hear stories of a-holes yelling rude things to people who are exercising. Must really suck to be so unhappy with yourself that you have to lash out at others to make yourself feel "big". Sorry that happened to you.

Kendra - While I totally agree with you that we do need to be able to have meals every so often that are off plan (I detest the term "cheat meals", but that's another post) I have a different take on the "food as reward" thing. So many of us who are overweight/obese use food in our lives in ways that aren't just for physiological nourishment. I don't know if this is the case for you or not, but when people use off-plan food as rewards I think you're only perpetuating skewed thoughts about food. That burger and fries as a reward is saying that that's the good stuff. That's the stuff that makes you happy and nourishes you psychologcially and emotionally. That's the stuff that your brain really wants to be eating and that stuff that you eat the rest of the time is the boring drudgery that you have to survive to make it to the good stuff. I'd much rather see people reward themselves with non-food treats and keep the "bad food" as something that you work into your life and enjoy but it's not a goal or a milestone reward. Just some food for thought, if you will. ;)

pintamino - Great job keeping on track during finals! I know how stressful that time was for me and think it's great that you were able to push through successfully!

Chickadee - YAY for 50lbs gone!! I shoot for around 25% of my daily calories to come from protein. I track on MyNetDiary and really love this way of breaking down the macronutrient intake. Yesterday for example I ate just over 1800 calories, with 120g of protein....hitting my 25% goal for protein dead on.

Reso - I hope that you have a positive day.

penguin - Get out there and enjoy that nice weather while it's around! Nice work on the pound gone...now keep it off! :)

Madam - we had about 5 amazing days in a row...sunny, warm, clear skies. Yesterday was cloudier and cool and today should be the same with possibly some rain. Sorry you're still getting SNOW! There are heavy snowfall warnings out here for the mountains and places closer to the mountains. When will mother nature get the message that it's SPRING??

Hi All,
Just a mid-week check in. I'm doing very well of keeping on my diet plan and even got the extra loop in. I plan on repeating that this afternoon. Don't want the work stress to take over. No excuses right! I always feel better after some exercise anyway. Scale is being a bit suborn this week and not fluctuating at all. Which for me is very very odd. In the past 3 months of my dieting I have never gone four days in a row where my weight is exactly the same. (and I mean exactly fight down to the .2 decimal place.) Any advise:?:
Am I worrying about nothing?

peanutt

K3 - I've shared this advice a few times in this thread.....STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE! Weighing everyday is a habit that will only play games with your mind. So many things affect what you see on the scale - hydration, the amount of undigested food (and digested but waiting to, um, be released), stress, TOM, other hormonal changes, and more. You're worrying needlessly. I would strongly encourage you to stop weighing yourself everyday. Move to a once a week weigh in....record that weekly number, accept it and move forward.

Hopefully some of our former scale addicts will chime in! I know a couple have broken that scale habit successfully (at least I HOPE the bad habit is still broken!!)

pokeycactus

Sadly, I still have the bad habit of being a compulsive weigher, BUT, I'm not letting it be the only judge of my success. The scale has a way of holding on to weight, or reflecting sodium (have been finding recently that there is sodium in EVERYTHING!).

I check my weight everyday, yes, but when my weight is up when it should be down, I focus more on other successes. My clothes are fitting better or looser, I have more endurance at the gym, I just feel better, etc. The scale is only one part of your success.

I'd rather look thinner than obsess over a number. I know it's completely impossible, but if I were 200 pounds and a healthy size six, that would be fine by me! ;)

K3LL3Y
04-28-2011, 12:54 PM
peanut- I'm sure you are right. Scale obsession really does get you nowhere. I have been using morning weigh-ins for motivation but there is no need to hinge the whole day on it. Both stress and TOM could be factors this week so I need to just let it go.
pokey- Thanks for the comments. I will probably continue to weigh myself every other day, but on here I'll only count the once a week numbers. My clothes are fitting a lot looser and the number of ounces I go up or down each day isn't really what's important.
I think I was just getting overly excited at the idea of finally getting below 200. I know I'll get there eventually so no use worrying about it.
Thanks again :-)

A month ago I was so obsessed with the scale that I was getting on it every few hours, trying to calculate exactly how many pounds were fat (based on the percentages,) and seriously making myself unhappy if the numbers hiccuped up even 1/4 pound. I have 3 scales in the house, because I cannot bear to throw them out. So I was running from one scale to another, looking for a better result.
Everybody said to STOP! It took about 3 days to taper off. It has been several weeks now; I don't go near the scale (except to dust it.) I weigh only on weigh-in day. I don't understand why I ever let the scale take over my life.
Nothing has changed without all that weighing. The diet goes on. The exercise goes on. I still lose weight really slow. It is OK! I am in for the duration. J. :carrot: (If I feel insecure, I measure.)

Kendrab--AWESOME job!!!! Look at that smile on your face in addition to the weight loss! And so funny we've got another "butt-er" convert. MadamB's "melting butt-er" analogy is going global!

OK, who is Sarge ....really? We have the "stories." We have the daily wisdom, laughs, great cartoons and butt kicking. But, what could Sarge possibly look like?
When I think of Sarge, I see his cartoon face glaring at the tiny Private. Maybe Sarge looks like THAT. Or, maybe Sarge looks like "the man behind the curtain" in The Wizard of Oz.

Morning everyone, sorry I've been MIA, studying for my PTCB test coming up, so I will probably be a bit absent around here for the next week or so.

So today so far is going good, and I'm going to do my Zumba today, and then also another program, maybe jillian, havent quite decided yet. So far this week its been really laid back for me, as far as exercising goes. Craming for this test is pretty much at the top of the list, but I'm trying to fit in the exercise as well. On the other hand I've been eating really well. I went to the store and bought some fruit and made this awesome fruit salad, it has Strawberries, kiwi, mango, grapes, and banana......Mmmmm yummy, ok now Im ready for lunch....lol

Hope all of you have a good day,

ah chikadee is back blowing the bugle ROFL and wtg!!!

Reso- I kinda know how you feel bout the bad dream, cept mine was a bad feeling bout all the weight I need to lose....I was like "what makes me think I can do it?" Which normally is my cue to find some nasty food that will make me sick and gorge on it but...I DIDN'T! I knew that whether its for weight loss or for health, I need to stay on plan and that in time it will all be second nature! If I stay on plan and do what is healthy for me, then I will eventually lose the weight (dnt get me wrong, I stepped on the scale out of curiosity and seeing I was down helped a TON in telling me I can do it!) but yea...bad feelings/dreams...kinda sucks when they leave us negative.

Patch YAY!!! on weather change! :carrot: Still chilly here too.

K3ll3y dont worry about the daily weight change, you will go up and down during the week. That is why they recommend you only weigh once a week, different things in our body cause our weight to go up and down such as water weight, sodium, bowel movements, etc.

Deanna - Keep up the great work!!

Like I said to reso, had a bad night last night, thankfuly I ate my fruit and that was that, was perfectly on plan even a few cals under I think. This week I am doing 1200-1300 cals a day to make up for my easter yummies. Next week I will go back to my calorie cycling. Last night I sat here stretching going.."can I really do this?!?!?!" I had a bad night of everyone else's voices in my head. Glad I stayed on plan instead of seeking out my nephews easter candy!! One thing bugging me though is other ppl on the boards at my height and weight have said they are in to 18's and 16's by this point and also at like size 10's and 12's by my goal...right now as far as I know I am still in like size 24/22 :\ IDK I don't have jeans anymore they all got big enough I had to get rid of them except for one pair of 28's I kept for comparison later. Maybe I just need to try my 18's on again that arent jeans. I also have this top that is 20/22 I want to fit in to and im just waiting forever for it to fit..its a really cute white wench top. I used to not be able to get it on at all, now I can get it on it just definitely doesn't fit.

Im just rambling here :p Making a taco salad for breakfast/lunch then planning on stealing my sisters exercise bike (shes at school :p) Dreamer out all.

Dreamer - I wouldn't worry about the sizing stuff at all! I would be shocked if someone was 5'10", 280lbs and wearing a size 16. For comparison, I'm 5'4", just under 200lbs and just moved into the 14-16 range. Every body wears clothes so differently and there's no consistent standard for what the sizes are that they ultimately are a meaningless comparison. Keep trying on those smaller clothes that you have and aiming to get into them, rather than aiming to wear the same size as someone else.

Great job, Kneed!!!

Right now, I'm running at 4.2 mph at a 3% incline on the treadmill and walking at 3.2 mph at a 7% incline. But I'm on week five...I think in week 1, I was doing around 4 mph running and 3 mph walking, same inclines.

When it's not too hot outside, I just run at a comfortable pace and make sure I'm still walking pretty briskly.

Hey everybody, don't really have lots of time, couple of things that i can relate to, the ignorant name calling, yes i too had car loads of teens etc... on more than one occasion yell obsenities at me when i started out, it does hurt, but i took it to heart and used that pain to fuel my desire with increased vigor.

Pokey : Don't let a little setback stop you, we all advance at our own pace, as long as you continue to push in the right direction is what truly matters.

Thanks very much for the congrats. :)

MadamB: Exercise in the snow and rain - that's dedication! I am wishing much better weather for you this weekend. :)

peanutt: Wow, 120g is amazing! I just averaged my protein intake over the past 6 days (85.6g), and as a percentage of my calories that comes out to right around 31%. So that sounds pretty on-target... I will strive to get around 25% of cals from protein each day. I like having new goals. :)

DREAMER: Clothing size depends on so many things besides weight and height... the store, the brand, how someone carries the weight (distributed or in a particular area), etc. Don't stress about the specific size! Just focus on those goals of getting into the articles of clothing you like and want to be able to wear. :)

Resolute: I agree with Sarge that a bit of time off from the hard-core exercise could be good for you. There are lots of other things you could spend the time doing that are physical and enjoyable but not so taxing on your body... working on the truck, getting some things planted outside, etc. I hope you'll take some time to relax this weekend. :)

Tomorrow we're driving to CT for the weekend for a wedding, and so I probably won't get in a workout tomorrow. I think it's an ok time for a day off though, as today was the 9th day straight of exercise - a longer stretch without a day off than I've ever done. I'll definitely get a workout in on Saturday at the hotel though, and will stay on plan with calories this weekend. Looking forward to having some wine tomorrow night!

Have a great Friday, all. :)

HEYA all mia a few days, and today not feeling to great, but hey ho its another 4 days weekend so cant complain :D

30ds is awsome i did the full 30days once i think then bits intermittently, but i know what you mean, you dont think you will ever get to the next level but its true what she says it gets so much easier each day, except that burn in your thighs, that jsut gets worse.

So hubby digging out the spare room at the mo so i can set up my rower, treadmill and weight bench :D woop woop.

not looking forward to weigh in, no idea how that will turn out.

Awsome pics Kendra and Reso its awsome when you put them together and see the difference your effort has made, looking in the mirror doesnt show it, cause you adjust to the difference each day, but pics like that....fabulous, big PAT on the back for you guys :D

enjoy your fridays

Oh Sarge, how could you beat me!! I guess if I didn't hit the snooze 5 times, LOL.

Hummff...I guess you can be first today...being the Sarge and all....

Morning Troops! It's Big Pay Day Friday!! Whooo. (well at least for me...hopefully for you too!)

I have a busy day planned. Work of course. Then I'm speeding up out of work to go and pick up our numbers for the race tomorrow. I won tickets off the radio for the movies, so picking those up. Eating dinner with the husband, then I'm off to help with a night race here in town.
Whew.

Very light exercise day for me. Lots of stretching though. I have woken up to charlie horses in my calves for two nights now. Lack of potassium? I've had this problem before.

Reso-Hope the dreams were better to you this night!

Chickadee-Whoooo on hitting 50!! You are awesome.

Okay, I'm off!

I'll get you next time Sarge. You cannot beat me tomorrow. MWAHAHAHA.

Good morning, i know i should lay off on exercise, it seems i get depressed if i don't though, it's strange, almost like i'm addicted to the endorphins now. :?:

No bad dreams tonight, no dreams that i can recall at all. :)

Thats a busy day Cheshire. :dizzy:

Might see if i can lay off a bit today, maybe i can just cut back instead of going cold turkey. Have a good day everyone. :)

Morning everyone :)

Yesterday was kind of rough for me. Woke up feeling kind of icky but still went for a 6 mile bike ride then came home and did 30 day shred. The second I was done- I ran to the bathroom and got sick. I spent the rest of the day laying low on the couch. But...

I hit my goal for the week for weight loss! Woo!

I am officially 5 pounds away from a normal bmi- that's really weird to me considering I started as obese. Really really weird feeling lol.

I'll go through the posts when I'm not on my iPod. Anyone know if there's a mobile version of 3fc?

Time to get ready to go shopping for some cute clothes. I don't think I've ever been so excited to shop in my life.

Took yesterday as an exercise rest day. I was exhausted all day then by bedtime felt wide awake again. I bought one of those ocean wave {white noise} machines and tried it last night. I found myself laying in bed trying to analyze the sounds to see where they looped the recording. Hmmm. This might be part of why I can't fall asleep, LOL.

How are we doing with Sarge gone??? Still melting BUTT-er?????

I watched the royal wedding (shameface...but geeze, did Kate Middleton look stunning) so I went back to bed and am just now getting moving and motivated.

I'm looking for recipes of something I can put together this afternoon and then just stick in the oven when my husband and I get hungry this evening instead of being tempted by fast food. We have a tendency to cave to fast food on Friday nights...just that end of the week laziness, I suppose. Not this week!!! :)

I'll also be getting in a run and a swim this afternoon.

Keep moving, everyone! Let's make Sarge proud!

I did two seperate workouts today. I do this in summer so I don't get too hot. First a 40min cardio/weights circuit {which was really boring} then two hours later a 45min weights workout DVD. Also, I get a much better calorie burn in the second workout. 200 vs 501 {gotta count that extra 1!}

Its supposed to rain the whole weekend, so we plan on getting stuff done around the house. Usually this turns into "hey, this is boring...let's watch a movie and do this later!" Guess what happens later~ more movies.

Tiff, glad to have you join us! This is my first week also.

GOOD AFTERNOON TROOPS, I'M BACK FROM MELTIN' MY BUTT-ER . . .

Bike ride wasn't as long as I would have liked, but if the wind dies down I may do it again in about an hour or so (I have a headlight now, so it won't matter if it gets dark :D

MissTiff: :welcome3: You're always welcome as long as you plan to work hard and melt your BUTT-ER . . . SARGE is away until Sunday but believe me SARGE has eyes EVERYWHERE and will know if you're slackin' or eatin' jelly beans :o Just make your pledge every week and then make it happen!!!

Penguin: WTG on 2 Rounds today !! do you listen to an i-pod or MP3 player when you do your weights??? It might make the time go faster . . .

Pokey: Fish is always quick and easy, squish a lemon (the juice) on top of the fish, mince some garlic, a bit of melted butter, parsley flakes, Salt & Pepper and cook it @ 350-375 for about 20-30 min, then whip up a salad, green beans or squash . . . and go for it!!

Jojoyoyo: Kettlebells, I haven't tried these yet . . . What's a "rebounder" ????

Kendrab: Congrats on meeting your pledge already and only 5 pounds from normal BMI . . . ooooooooooooooooh, so jealous!! Have fun shopping!! I hope you're feeling better!!

Reso: So glad you didn't have bad dreams. I am sooooo on the same page as you with the endorphins. If I don't do enough exercise I am a CRABBY PATTY!!! Oh not pretty!!! You've been going strong since the surgery, maybe just turn it down a notch or two . . .

Dreamer: 30 DS WILL MAKE YOU SWEAT . . . and you work your A@@ off, but the thing I like is you're in and out in 25 min!! Especially if I'm in a time crunch

Chickadee: Weather is MUCH better today . . . I think it only made it to 65, but that is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the 40's. The sun was out til about 2:00 or 3:00 and the wind picked up . . . but I enjoyed it SOOO much!!! Have fun at the wedding . . .

Cheshire: Back in the day, I used to get leg cramps almost every night . . . I've started eating a banana (1/2 if it's a big one) and I haven't had a leg cramp since Oct (that's when I started getting my fat BUTT-ER back in shape) . . . just a thought and I usually just count 100 calories . . .

Koshi: A whole room with exercise equipment . . . WOOHOO . . . Do you like the rower . . . I think I may try to find a used one on Craig's list . . . I like the rower!!

Peanut: Are flying stealth today???? Over 120g protein . . . how do you do that???

SARGE JAYTEE: Going stealth for a few days, <sigh> I wanna go . . . <sniffle> LOLOLOLOLOLOL I want a one-on-one, face-to-face combat/throwdown challenge . . . (then I'll REALLY know what SARGE looks like) :D

OK, since the bike ride wasn't as long as I would have liked I will be doing a Round 3, maybe Zumba or 30 DS & of course crunches

OK TROOPS, LAST CHANCE WORKOUTS TOMORROW . . . TURN UP THE HEAT AND MELT YOUR BUTT-ER!!!!

Pokey, one thing I really like and do, I put a bunch of veggies and some cooked pasta and cooked meat in tupperwear and freeze it then I just pull it out and stick it in the oven with some alfredo sauce on top for about 20-30 mins, sometimes i put shredded cheese on top. That seems to work great. Ive put two things of it in the oven now for dinner, if you mix it when chill it in the fridge, it also becomes a great pasta salad for summer.

Hello Rainbow, i missed you, if i could i would give you a real hug, life can be so cruel, i speak from my heart, never had much to be joyous about but i'll be damned to if i let negativety steal what's left of my soul.

I've had a horrible run the last few years, through it all i stayed true to the one thing no one could take from me, my drive and determination to hang onto something that was of my own making and manifested by my sheer will to fight.

Stay strong and know there are people that care. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/715/heartwml.gif

Madam, I workout to DVD's. The first workout was one I've had for a while but never tried ~ Tom Holland's Total Body 1 {I might point out this is the same guy that does the Surpreme 90 DVD's. I keep thinking I should buy this set because its such a good deal but I already have P90x.} The second was one I really like ~ Cathe Friedrich's Push/Pull. http://www.totalfitnessdvds.com/CATHE-FRIEDRICH-SUPERSETS-PUSH-PULL-p/632.htm.

Dreamer, do you put the Tupperwere in the oven or move to a different container? Because I think if I tried that the container would melt all over my new oven!

The Rebounder is a mini trampoline. I've had great success with a 45 min. workout. But I stopped doing it for quite a few years. -Hard to go back, but it is safer on account of minimum impact. I have a very fun tape that I made in the mid-eighties. It has been committed to CD...Fun! The minutes go by fast! Gets my heart rate right up there!
The Kettle bell is a weight that looks somewhat like a bowling ball with a handle on top. I have had to start out with under 10 pounds, because I wasn't sure of my back. It seems to be working fine. I am trying to work up to 20 min. Kettle bell swinging is supposed to be helpful in building up the muscles in the back and the glutes plus minimizing the waist. Yikes! I have become a weakling! But that can change! Thanks for asking.:dizzy:

Just popping in before bed.

I did have a banana just a 1/2 hour ago, so hopefully that helps with the random leg cramps at night.

Yay Rainbow is around...good luck with the selling! Buy it all people!!

Happy Weekend!! Make your weekend plans and stick too them. Lots of exercising time!

Thanks Chickadee for the well wishes! And everyone who has cheered me on with my runs through the last month or however long we've been together!

Good morning ladies. :)

Cheshire : Is your big run today ? Typical man i'm not good with dates at all... If so best of luck to you, i know you will do fine.

Yesterday after i came home my knees were paining me, so i forced myself to drop the exercise i had planned, well that and the scale has refused to move again this week, i know i've averaged 4500 - 5000 cals a day in burn and only been consumming 2500 - 3000 per day, i've maintained a sizeable deficit for some time but i haven't seen the results that i expect, something is amiss, usually i just drive ever harder to punch through plateaus but i really don't have much left to do other than starve myself. ( don't/can't/won't do that )

So i've decided to back off a bit and hope i can relinquish some stress and heal up a bit, need to concentrate more clearly now, not so much brute force, i need some finesse i think, will drop my exercise down, one walk, more relaxed today, plus eat as cleanly as possible while keeping intake around my BMR, and to top it off i'm going to force myself to get at least 7 hours sleep every night instead of the 5 or 6 i usually end up with.

Last night was good i had 8 hours sleep, i also treated myself and ate what i would guess to be all my calories for the first time in what feels like literally years, body feels a little better, going to take more than 1 night to recoup though, just have to be smarter and not stronger for a while.

Bleh, just rambling, my typical sound board style, hope everyone else is having better results, not looking forward to weigh in, i should be down but it's just fighting me tooth and nail right now, looks like i'm spinning my wheels so to speak, lots of wasted energy.
