100 lb. Club - Harry Potter Weight Loss Challenge

The final Harry Potter movie is being released the second full week of July in most of the world. I thought it might be fun to do a short challenge that will end the week the movie opens. If we start weighing in next week, that'll be 12 weeks.

Your day of weigh-in doesn't matter, since the movie opens on different days in different countries. Just pick a day that works for you, and weigh in once a week.

Me Me Me Me Me Me ME!!! This is FUN!! I LOVE Harry Potter and will DEFINITELY be going to see it when it comes out. The movie theater is one of those places that always makes me feel fat. (There's just something about the lighting and the mirrors in those bathrooms) What fun to think of going as a new and improved version of myself in a cute outfit ... DATE NIGHT!!

You know what? What the heck! I'm not a big HP fan; I've only seen the first movie and read a few of the first books, but this looks like fun regardless and it's just starting, so count me in!

12 weeks at hopefully 2 pounds a week = 24 pounds.

I'll start on Sunday, as that's easiest for me and kind of is a "fresh start" rather than already most of the way through the week :)

It was AWESOME!! You have to break your weight loss regiment to try the butterbeer... sooooooo good!
I had never been to Universal in Florida so I like a lot of the roller coasters. The new Harry Potter ride was really cool, but the dueling dragons from The Goblet of Fire was a better ride. I guess it is a ride that was there before but revamped for Harry.

I am so in.... DH and I love the HP series and I could use some accountability over the next few months.

We leave next week on vacation and will be gone for almost 3 weeks, 15 nights of it on a cruise. My plan is to stay 90% OP and increase activity; when I've done that in the past I've always come home with a small loss, so I hope to have the same experience this time.

We were actually planning to go to WWoHP at Universal at the beginning of the trip, but I understand it's been an absolute zoo the past several weeks with Spring Breaks going on, so we decided to use some free passes I have for Sea World the day we're in Orlando instead. WWoHP will still be there the next time we get down to Florida.

Goal: 216 pounds

April 24: 239.5 Uggh... heading the wrong way, but totally OP, so it's gotta be water.
April 27: 235.5 MUCH better... that ugly water weight is gone. :)
May 18: 235.5 After a long vacation, I'm not complaining!

I went to the wizarding world of Harry Potter a month ago for a private party! I must have rode the coaster 12 times! And I was just excited I fit in the seats!! :) Its a small place but WAY fun!!

I'm not in the 100 lb. club but would love to join this challenge! I'm a huge HP fan and am so psyched for the premiere on the 15th. I even told my 8-year-old we could go to the midnight showing if we can get tickets, so I must be crazy!

My goal is to lose 10 lbs. by then - a lb. a week, so very aggressive for me. I've been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. forever because I start to get sloppy. I need to be very strict to make this happen.

If anyone is in the NY area you should check out the HP exhibit in Times Square. I went with my family for my b'day a few weeks ago. So cool to see so many props and costumes from the movies!

By some miracle I am the same weight as last week! Wasn't my goal, but it wasn't up!! I ended the week on a bad food note so I was worried.

Anyway, I watched HP7 on demand Saturday night....very excited for part 2!!! Gonna do a marathon leading up to seeing the finale :)

I'm not doing so hot on this whole thing lately. The goal for this week is to get back on track and start losing again. Luckily I've been maintaining around 162 for the last few weeks instead of gaining.

You're sticking it out, which is really great! Keep it up!

I saw previews a couple of days ago at the movie theatre... it looks awesome! It's DEFINITELY going to be one to watch on the big screen if you can swing it.

So after almost 2 weeks off the wagon I find myself 5 pounds above my goal for the week. That means I need to adjust my goals for the given timeframe...

Since this Challenge is only until 7/15, I'm going to adjust my goals appropriately, BUT since I said 190 was my HP7 goal, I want to try waiting until I hit that magic number before seeing it...but no guarantees there! lol

So, apparently this scale at home is way off and three other scales I have weighed myself show lower numbers. With that said I am changing my goal! (In my previous post I said my current weight was 272.8...wrong, I was in the 260's on every other scale but the one at home!)

It will definitely be interesting to see how your body responds to pregnancy. I found that I was the opposite of who I had been before. From kind of anxious to being super calm and relaxed all the time. My hair even changed from curly to mostly straight! LOL!!

Okay so my plans changed. As my DS and I were heading OOT for the beach, we passed Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Inspiration struck and we decided to ride the roller coasters instead of playing in the surf and sun.

What that means its that I WAS in fact able to WI today, my "official" WI and ticker update day and do you know what happened???
1. I made it to my next mini goal. 10% lost!!
2. I officially no longer morbidly obese....just the regular kind of obese!

It's so frustrating to see the scale go up when you haven't eaten anything off plan... The funny thing is that I've been feeling as though I *look* thinner the last few days, so I was excited to weigh in. I wasn't feeling great this weekend, turns out I ended up with a full blown bladder infection. I'm on mega antibiodics, so between the infection and now the meds, I'm sure I've been retaining water. Hopefully I'll see a nice woosh on the scale once the I'm off the meds.

Thanks, ladies. :hug: I'm feeling muuuuuch better... finished my course of antibiodics.

I'm actually in Vegas this week visiting a friend who's husband is out of town, but I'm staying OP while I'm here... our first stop when I got here(well, second after the casino :D) was the grocery store to pick up some OP food.


Goal: 216 pounds

April 24: 239.5 Uggh... heading the wrong way, but totally OP, so it's gotta be water.
April 27: 235.5 MUCH better... that ugly water weight is gone.
May 18: 235.5 After a long vacation, I'm not complaining!
May 25: 234.0
May 29: 233.5 Back to my regular Sunday morning weigh-ins
June 5: 231.5
June 12: 230.0 Slow and steady
June 19: 230.5 Must be water weight... I've been a good girl.

My attempt to restart myself in June did not work... June was a bad bad month for me. I have clinical depression and kept forgetting to take my prescription - that was very bad. BUT, I am officially back on the horse with pills and weight control, and I'm going to finish this challenge strong! not going to be anywhere near the original goal, but will finish strong nonetheless ;)

Here's my last post, with updated goals and weights:

So after almost 2 weeks off the wagon I find myself 5 pounds above my goal for the week. That means I need to adjust my goals for the given timeframe...

Since this Challenge is only until 7/15, I'm going to adjust my goals appropriately, BUT since I said 190 was my HP7 goal, I want to try waiting until I hit that magic number before seeing it...but no guarantees there! lol edit: so not waiting til 190 for the movie -- i'd miss it in the theaters again if i did that! lol :D

Very excited... but a little sad too, I really don't want the series to end.

We've been invited to a private screening of the movie on Friday night, it should be awesome!

Didn't hit my goal, but I'm happy with what I accomplished during the challenge.

I never joined this challenge simply because it was in the 100lbs Club, but I checked in and stalked and watched everyone's amazing progress and was inspired to make my own personal Harry Potter goal; everyone is fantastic and I'm so happy at the progress that was made here! Congrats! :carrot:

YES! I did not have to raise my ticker 3 weeks in a row. I lost all the weight I gained back plus just a teenise bit more! WOOT WOOT!

Thank you for starting this challenge, it was a blast!! I'm bummed that I won't be able to see the movie until next weekend but what a great reward it'll be.

Oh I wish :D My tracking post was really confusing so I definitely understand the mix-up :lol: I actually finished at 209.3 .... -7.9. Considering I went from 218 to 209 twice during the challenge, I'm ok with an overal loss of 8 pounds :lol3:
