This week my goal is to...

1) Stay on plan (I've been hungry and "snacky" lately) :?:

2) Continue with JM's 30 DS and not miss any days! :coach:

3) Make it to 136 something! :cloud9:

I've already planned out my menu for the whole week so as long as I can stick to it, I'm golden (easier said than done). Hopefully this week is a good week!!! :D

Diana that is so awesome. you definitely have to take a pic of that for yourself. it really solidifies how well you have done!

berry, like you i have been on my feet all day, but i was not as good as you. i hope you get a chance to wind down and enjoy some leisure time. 15 years off the face is AWESOME.

biker, i'm sure you will be back down, no way you REALLY gained a pound.

stacy, shove those negative thoughts out of your mind...some people do think that, but so what. you hang in there..and keep going.

pint, omg, i am so sorry about the tornadoes, i am so glad you are yours are ok though! I am praying with you for your community to recover and i hope you enjoyed the chinese food. I'm also hoping you won't gain. you are under alot of stress. Sounds like the dogs are too.

LARRY!!! PraISE God FOR HIS WONDERFUL BLESSINGS! You are safe and sound and humorous! i laughed about the buzzards too. NOt getting you any time soon! yayyayya! i'm so glad all you have to deal with is a couple of fluid restrictions. They have to really watch you for tamponade after a surgery. So be good!

Lindsey, your food always looks good.

good advice k9! hope you are having a good day. i like how you are holding yourself accountable to your jeans!

afm i have been very very busy. i got the house cleaned, a huge dent in the laundry...did some more yardwork, and worked on the building. my feet Ache. i knew i was done, cause i could not hoist my body up the step into the building ONE MORE time.

why can't i just go into labor...it would be so wonderful to just have this baby this week, and be home the same darned day, no recovery from a c-section..yeah i'd have to take care of the baby..but that's ok...

i'm SOOSOSOSOSO hungry. i was not good. I started off my day with donuts. That is all i ate was 4 donuts and 2 cups of coffee, 2 glasses of home made lightly sweetened tea, and a can of coconut juice.

i need some PROTEIN now! i'm so hungry i could gnaw on my own fingers.

I took a bath in some lavender salts...and that really helped the soreness...except my feet....oh well, i'll deal.

I actually did REALLY well at dinner tonight! 6oz Spaghetti, 1.5c salad and im stuffed!! :dizzy: Lunch and breakfast still need work :( I did return my Slim Fast shakes- gross!!! I did pick up Special K cereal in hopes of eating it in the AM. I still need to walk on the treadmill tonight too. Maybe ill try my workout video or something.

I just can seem to get this right though and its frustrating me. Im not a big Breakfast person and i had hoped to try a SF shake, but for now thats a no go. I need something quick and easy. Then after dinner, thats my WORST time :( Watch about 11pm tonight, ill sit there and "oh im hungry" but it wont be a few chips, ill want a whole pizza or something i shouldnt. :(

Lindsey Great plans! You can do it! :cheer: I have been feeling snacky, too. I think TTOM will be showing up within the week.

Jen I have already put the jeans away. I am actually thinking about taking 1 pair of the largest size back out and putting them where I keep my daily clothes. This will be especially helpful for the times that I feel snacky, I'm PMS'ing, or I'm having some type of mental lapse. :dizzy: ;)

Morethananumber Hi and Welcome! Maybe you could try a high protein cereal for breakfast, cottage cheese w/fruit, or Greek Yogurt. Maybe include some extra protein or load up on some veggies for dinner so you don't get hungry after dinner.

Aw Jen ... I remember those days ... he'll be here before you know it

Hi Morethananumber, which SF shake did you try? I can only drink the milk chocolate the others make my urine smell like the flavor which makes me nauseous. Sorry if TMI, I also have the whey protein powder in chocolate. The fiber one bars are pretty good also :)

Lindsey I've already planned out my menu for the whole week so as long as I can stick to it, I'm golden (easier said than done). Hopefully this week is a good week!!! <----- this is so me but I've only planned out the next four days :) :crossed: that WE WILL do it :)

Ok to give you all an idea of how bad I've been eating ... not gonna even think about how many calories ... don't wanna know

Breakfast
2 eggs w/2% American, 2 thin pancakes w/ regular syrup, a 1/4 cup grits with margarine, 2 turkey sausage

after church around 2ish
2 slices whole wheat w/ spicy mustard, pastrami and provolone (the meat and cheese came from a half of a sub from Firehouse Subs that I didn't finish)

then I had 2 spoons of my birthday cake (mainly icing) a little devil foods part, about 2 cups of microwave popcorn, 4 vegetable chips (snacky today)

Dinner
Mashed potatoes w/ gravy, green peas, meatloaf burger (small) couldn't finish it all but ate enough to feel overly stuffed :( drank about 30ozs of water while eating

Got on the scale because I felt horrible and it said 184.6 ... wow that's bad. I know my weigh in tomorrow is gonna be really disappointing but I promise YOU ALL and myself that Tuesday morning will be much better. I am back on track tomorrow with my eating, exercise and water GO ME!!!

thanks ladies! i just DON'T want to have a c-section. God has a plan though.

well, morethan, i will tell you what i do for breakfast most days, that keeps my eyes open and i feel nourished. I hate slimfast shakes too. yucky. i hate powdery shakes as well, but CARNATION breakfast. wow. those are soooo good! i've tried all the flavors, and they are awesome! no powdery shakes either. they blend so well. i usually buy the big chocolate version. SO doesn't eat breakfast normally. To get him something quick, he WILL drink those though. sometimes i add a splash of coffee and some ice.

well, SOs dad bought us some home made turkey and dressing...so we ate that for dinner.

i guess i'll be good tomorrow. i know i burned thousands of calories today, so i'm not really worried about my donut day.

This is my menu for tomorrow:

8:00 a.m. - Oatmeal (150), craisins (70), two plums (61) = 282
10:00 a.m. - Yogurt (100), cereal (50) = 150
1:00 p.m. - Edamame (100), 1/2 brown rice (100), turkey slices (90) = 290
3:00 p.m. - Yogurt (100), cereal (50) = 150
6:00 p.m. - Bok Choy with bacon and onion (100), 1/2 brown rice (100), tuna (120) = 320

Total = 1192

Then the plan is 15 minutes on my new bike after work, and an hour and a half of working out with the Wii (30 min each yoga, strength training, aerobics). The bike time will go up eventually, I just have to get used to being on a bike again after so many years out of the game!

The rest of my plan for this week is kind of weird because I also build in study time to my daily goals ^_^; The idea is to be in bed my 9:00 p.m. and up by 5:00 a.m., then studying from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. before work.

I am striving for two important things at once: attaining my old, healthy weight and attaining a professional certification to advance my career. Posting helps me feel accountable so I thought I would sneak the book work I have to do in there too!

Larry, Larry, Larry!! I'm so glad to "hear" from you! We all are!! We've been worried to death about you!! :grouphug: SOOOOOO glad you're okay!! That Lasix is gonna give you a WOOSH that's even more major than your NORMAL wooshes!! :D How are you feeling? Did I mention that I'm glad you're okay?!?! :D

k9owner, I think it was you on the other thread that asked me if I go SOOOO low in calories often? No, I do not. Usually I try not to go below 1200.....but if I eat an excessive amount one day, I'll go way low the next day to try to make up for it. I try to be a good girl most of the time! :D

jendiet, girl.....you're stressin me out AND inspiring me with all your activity (while so preggo) all at the same time!! Hope you're gonna take it easy from now til baby gets here! :nono:

I'm REALLY hoping my scale stall is over. I saw a new low this morning.....it was in my gown, but it was a new "in my gown" low. :D 203.0! I'm on the low end of calories again today, but we went out for lunch and I'm not sure I counted enough calories for what I ate..........but I'm a little hungry. I may have a snack yet.....not sure.....I think I'll weigh first and then see how I feel about it. Weighing may make me not so hungry anymore. I haven't had a 2 lb loss in a week in several weeks now. I'd sure like to see one....although I'm pretty sure it won't happen this week....been out to eat tooooooooo much! :(

You guys......ya'll are my rock! I couldn't do this journey without you guys. Thank you.....each of you! :grouphug:

I would like to join in. I joined for a short time awhile back but did not keep it up like everything else-lol.

I guess one reason I didn't keep it up is it seemed like everyone was so far ahead of me regarding which plan they were following and being in better control of their emotional eating, if that was a problem, so I just said the heck with it but now reading the heading of the thread "Lifestyle Change" it seems appropriate to join again.

I am taking small to very small steps as I have been struggling with overeating for along time and I guess the biggest reason is that when I did got to goal weight about 15 years ago I did it with the hope that my whole life would be better, I would have no worries and other nonsense but now I know that getting to your goal weight is something you do for your SELF and that losing the weight is so very important, of course, but getting your outside to match your inside(becoming a positive and self confident person) is equally important, for me at least. Thinking about not having a balanced inside as well as outside makes me think of an analogy, it is like having a gorgeous vintage Camaro(I love muscle cars) with no engine in it.

My goals for tomorrow:
-make a list of more healthful food choices
-be positive

Thanks so much for listening. I hope this made some sense.:dizzy:

Welcome back Larry!

I've completely fallen off the wagon. :-( I ate a great breakfast and lunch today, then gave in to sushi with the girls, THEN we all piled into the car and went for ice cream. I've gone out to dinner like 4 times in the past 9-10 days and am terrified that I wont be able to get back on track.

I'm going to try to plan out my whole week to and stick to it, I CANNOT let this become a huge streak towards gaining the weight I've lost back! I need to eat really clean for the next month so I don't go overboard in Italy.

okay ---- End Rant -----

I started out with a protein bar called Think Thin. It is 20g of protein and 0 sugar, 230 calories. I also eat Power Crunch protein bars which are 200 calories. This morning I had 3 pieces of turkey sausage and a greek yogurt.

Breakfast was a hard change for me too. I don't like eggs so there aren't a lot of other low calorie, low carb options.

Hey Everyone!

I'm getting back on track this morning after a less than stellar weekend. Friday I was starving when I got home and wanted to get some stuff done before making dinner, but my pre-dinner snack just got out of hand. We had leftover hotwings in the house :O , and I just couldn't control myself. I finally cut the circuit by taking off on a walk and skipping dinner, since I'd eaten enough in the snack, but it certainly would have been healthier to eat the dinner and skip those hotwings.

Saturday night we got some Chinese. I just wanted some of this really good soup a local place makes, but the rest of the fam got some General Tso's Chicken and I didn't steer clear entirely. How do you track stuff like that? I couldn't find anything in fitday that resembled it at all, so I really have no idea what my calories for the weekend look like. Then, to top it off, my hubby got us candy to snack on while we watched a movie that night. AAAHHH!

Sunday wasn't as bad, but I did finish off that soup, with all it's extra salt. After a week straight of 210.2 on the scale, I was up to 211.4 this morning. I'm not usually a scale freak, but I still didn't like seeing it. I'm hoping that will flush (heh, heh) itself out today, especially since calorie-wise, I don't think I was too terrible this weekend, although like I say, who can tell with the weird chinese food.

After doing now much of anything yesterday, I decided that we would walk my son's friend home, just to get out. He lives about a mile away. Wouldn't you know, the only 20 minutes all day that it rained happened during that walk. Oh well. :D

Hey Everyone

I hope you all had good weekends. Mine was ok, busy as usual but some relaxing time. It seems like forever since I have actually posted anything around here! I've missed you all!

Has anyone heard from Larry??

I have a couple of goals I would like to work on this week... which I will hopefully carry on for good!

1. Get back on plan - my eating has been just absolutely awful these past few weeks. I need to start tracking my food in loseit.com and staying accountable.

2. Drink more water! I need to remember to drink at least my 2L water everyday! I have to stay hydrated, I am not going to lose weight without water.

3. Exercise. Get back to the gym at least 3x a week

These 3 things I was doing before so it shouldn't be hard for me to start them up again and I am going to do my best to stick to it.

Here is my plan for the day Mon 4/18/2011

B - 4 slices multi-grain bread w/ natural PB & organic blueberry jam + 1 small banana + 1 choc.vanilla soy pudding (Big breakfast I know, but I was soooo hungry after a very early dinner on Sunday plus it is within my cals for the day)

L - Whole wheat pasta w/ ground soy, tomato pasta sauce & lot's of veggies

S - 1 small apple

D - Marinated Tofu on brown rice w/ lightly steamed bok choy

Drinking: At least 2L water + maybe 2 cups green tea

Exercise: 30mins light walking on the treadmill

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

Hi Everyone!

Don't have much time to post today. TOM is here and I'm taking my PMS tablets so I don't go mental :dizzy::dizzy:

I don't know what I weigh. I refuse to weigh during TOM. I have been insanely hungry since last week and didn't control myself that well this weekend. Also, I was exhausted and didn't work out. I have a little more energy today so I plan to go for a run when I get home today.

________

Stacy - 178??? YAY!!!

Lindsey - My goal is to stay on track during TOM and now have any meltdowns :)

LLBold - YAY!! You're back! Missed ya!

LARRY- So so so happy to hear you are home! I hope you have a speedy recovery

Hi Ladies and Larry (so glad you're back and feeling better!),

Just jumping on here to let y'all know that I've been dealing with a sick household all week. All six of us are sick and I was up until 4:30am with my eldest who had a croup attack. Hopefully, everyone will be getting better soon, so I can come play with y'all and also get some sleep. :faint: At least the scale has taken pity on me. I'm down to a new low of 188.6.

Thinking of you all!

I have a question for you all.

Do you find that you lose more when you eat the minimum amount of cals recommended, like 1200, or do you lose more with the amount a cal.calculator has told you??

I was just wondering because I think I am one of those people who will lose more by eating a very low amount of cals. Right now, according to a cal.calculator I should be eating 1558 cals per day (more if I do exercise). This seems high for me... like it is a lot of food.

What do you think?? Should I drop my cals to 1200 and see how it goes??

L R K

Had guests over the weekend and I was doing so great until last night's dinner. I had accounted for everything - eating about 1450 for the day and then it was time for dessert. The night before, I just served it and didn't have a piece - totally OK with that. But, last night the guest was helping with handing them out and I wasn't counting and she said how many we needed. I served away. Everyone had a piece and then I see she put a piece of Rhubarb pie with ice cream in front of my place setting. I hadn't planned on having any. A taste would have been fine, but when everyone has a piece, a piece is in front of you with melting ice cream, it's hard to say, "no." So, I ate it. It's my splurge for the spring I guess. I only make one rhubarb pie a year, so this is it. And it was so good.

I had some leftover rhubarb, so i made up a recipe for honey oatmeal whole wheat rhubarb cinnamon rolls with a powdered sugar glaze. I ate one bite and wow, is that divine. Everyone loved it and it was 100% my own recipe! I love to cook and bake! and i'm totally OK with not eating it, which is so odd.

So, with less chance to get in real workouts (though cooking and picking up after 9 people for two days definitely burned off a lot of calories) and a higher day of eating, I'm not thrilled with the slip/delay, but that's life. It didn't throw me off my groove at all, so that's all good. I'm just glad to have things go back to our normal routine.

Lost .6 of the taco gain weight though!

PERSONALS

SHELLS: Sorry to hear abt your fam's illnesses! Hope everyone is better really soon.

LAURENA: MFP says I should eat roughly that too. IDK if that's necessarily true, but here is what I know:
:flow1: 1 lb of fat is 3500 cals. Reducing your caloric intake by 500 (either through exercise or food or a combo) each day will = 1 pound lost each week.
:flow1: Eating < 1200 cals/day for women places you at risk for placing your body into "Starvation Mode" and decreasing your metabolism.
:flow1: To get a good idea of how many cals you should eat/day to maintain your present weight with doing very little exercise, multiply what you weigh by 12. To lose weight, drop your cals and/or increase your exercise to have a 500 cal deficit per day.

VIX: Welcome Back! Missed you :)

LINDS: How do you organize food for the week? I have many friends that do this. They go to the market on Sunday afternoon, then plan the whole next week of food each day. It's just me, DH, and 2 K9s and just b/c I say we are having A Monday nite, B Tuesday night, and C Wednesday night--it usually doesn't work out like that!

ZOODOO: I can so relate to your hotwing saga! I hate when it happens too!

DIANA, LA: :bravo: on your new low!!! I smell 199 in your future! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

DIANA: Thank you so much for keeping this thread updated every week :)

NOVEL: I guess TOM has to make his way around the block. Hope you have a non-stressful event! :stress:

LLBOLD: Get up! Shake the excess flour off your skirt, and get back on the :tread: or :ebike: or whatever is your exercise flavor! My biggest mistake was telling myself, "oh, it's no big deal, it's just 5 lbs. I can loose 5 lbs if i want to. then it was 10, then 15--NOW 20!!!" Acknowledge that at some point, you are going to blow it--sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time, but it's when we give in to that behavior that the weight will ultimately find itself back on our thighs, hips, abdomen, etc!

MONDAY MONDAY-- I need some natural Vitamin D in the worst kind of way :beach: anyone??? We are planning to go there for holiday, but not until the end of July. I need some :sunny: now!!!

What exactly is a "controlled cheat". I have never heard of this. As I have never hear of onederland! What is that?? :dunno:

((soon 2b de-escalating ticker)) HA :D

A lot of people frown on the word "cheat" but to me, it just means i am going to eat at or above maintenance for a day. I'm thinking i'll limit it to 3000 calories, which is 1000 more than normal, but just little over maintenace (i guesstimate my maintenance at about 2800). In the past, whenever i've called it a "cheat" day it's turned into an all-out binge. 3000 calories should allow me to feel like i'm seriously indulging, but it's still less than my normal binge amounts.

I am back at the lake. Waiting for more contractors. Looks like I found one that does excellent work and won't break the bank.

That is great! Finding a contractor you trust and comes in at a great price is so hard to find. Now what all are you getting done?

k9owner, onederland is the term we use for not weighing in the 200's anymore. :D I'll be in onederland in just a FEW lbs!!!! I am SOOOOO excited!! :D :D :D

I've had 480 calories today. I ate a salad this morning (I know, GREAT breakfast, huh??? lol) and 2 light hamburger buns with 2% mozarella cheese and garlic powder, baked, for lunch. It was yummy. Like Cheesy bread from the Pizza place!! :D

Does anyone have any plans for Easter?

Diana(LA) Congrats on the new low!

Lindsey I am scared the new low won't stick. I think TTOM is getting ready to start. You know how that goes. Have you ever tried eating lettuce when you get hungry in between meals? I always have some type of lettuce in the refrigerator. If I get really hungry I will eat a handful. I don't even count the calories since it's so few.

Vixsin Congrats on the Pre-TTOM low!

Zoodoo Today is a new day. Just get right back on track!

Lauren How did your dress fitting go? Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it. How do you feel when you eat 1200 calories? Does it seem like enough? Maybe do a midrange between the two.

Novelista My TTOM should be starting soon, too. :( Hope you feel better.

Shells Sorry to hear that you and the family has been sick. I hope you all get better soon.

Berry Congrats on the .6!

The only adjustments that need to be done is the length. I am very happy with it! :D I haven't tried dropping down to 1200 cals yet. I'll see how the next week goes and make a decision from there.

Vixsin – Woo hoo!! :yay: You rock!!!! :carrot:

Zoodoo – Glad to hear you’re back on track. I swear the weekends goof me up! :dizzy:

Lauren – I love the goals for this week! :D You can do it girl!! You could try a week or two of 1200 and see how it goes? Maybe somewhere in between there might be good like 1300-1400? I’m not sure about the whole calc thing…I seem to lose with more calories sometimes and sometimes I gain so I’m not sure. :?:

Novel – Those are good goals! TOM makes me crazy!! :dizzy: And moody! Hope you have a great week and TOM treats you ok!

Shells – 188!!! YAY! :woohoo: That’s great! Hope you and the family are feeling much, much better very soon! :getwell:

Berry – You’re making me  with the thought of those honey oatmeal whole wheat rhubarb cinnamon rolls!!

Rachel – Love the goals! You can do it!! :carrot:

Surfer – I know you can kick butt this week to meet your 30 days of on plan eating!!! :D

K9 – We go shopping every week, so I plan enough for one week. I pick 7 meals that we’ll have and then randomly kind of pick what we’re having on Sunday, Monday, and so on…then I make that into my schedule. For example today I’m making a tomato basil/margherita pizza and I know it has X amount of calories so I’ll making eat more or less for lunch to reach my calorie goal. Does that make sense? I’m kind of easy to plan because I eat the same breakfast and snacks each day for the most part so my “planning” is really what I’m having for dinner and what I’m having for lunch (which is usually leftovers). I love the soon to be de-escalating ticker btw!! ;)

Sum – Hi!

Diana – That’s a good idea!!! I think I have some in the fridge…I know I have carrots. I think I need to drink a lot more water to fill me up too!

Hi everyone!! I'm definitely feeling a little better today. Still hearing heartbreaking stories about the tornadoes, but everyone is pulling together.

I was off plan for breakfast, simply because I totally forgot to eat it. :o I hurriedly mixed my chocolate protein powder with water and chugged it before rushing my son to school. It didn't mix completely and I was basically gulping clumpy mix and water. This I do not recommend. :barf: But hey, it stayed down and was better than nothing! So for food...

B: Clumpy protein yuckiness: 130cal
L: tuna mixed with 2T real mayo, red onion, lettuce and S&P on whole wheat toast, 6 sour cream cracker things
D: 2 bowls of chili, 4 crackers and 3oz of cheddar cheese. :o

Due to the 2hr school delay, we got started late on our walk. It was HOT by the time we even got to the trail, I'm talkin' in the 70's. We were more winded and miserable today than we were the first time we did it, but we finished!! AND we went home and started P90X just like we had planned. I am totally spent, but full of energy, so I might hop on the elliptical in a bit just to work it off. I haven't tallied my calories for the day either but I'm not worried about them. More worried about the sodium!

Hi Bonnie :welcome: it made lots of sense

Lacey you can do it ... we ate out a ton in the last week and a half but the numbers on the scale were hopefully enough to shake me :crossed: You'll get back on track :)

Diana LOL it takes forever to go through the nutrition facts on cereal, there are so many ... You pick up and put back, pick up and put back .... :)

Lindsey I use to be but the older I get seems I get a little more laxed, it's horrible ;)

Great job Vixsin :)

Zoodoo when I can't locate something on fatsecret I google it to get the calories so at least I know the round about calories. Can you add things on fitday so that if you have it again it will be in there for you? Gotta love the weather :)

Hi Lauren those are the 3 things I was doing before we can do this  I was going with 1400-1500 I think and Diana told me last year to up them to about 1600 based on my average calories to keep the scale moving and it worked so I try to get there most times it doesn't get that high but it's almost like calorie cycling on it's own :)

Hi Novel

Shells congrats on you new low :high: Praying for a healthy household for you

Berry good job on the .6 :)

Hi Rachel

Surfer good for you on planning your cheat ... I'd be scared to do that. Not much food control here lately :)

K9 thanks for saying this ----> Acknowledge that at some point, you are going to blow it--sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time, but it's when we give in to that behavior that the weight will ultimately find itself back on our thighs, hips, abdomen, etc! So appropriate for me, thanks :) ONEDERLAND is where you are in the 100's with your weight :)

Sum About your friend, I think the best thing to do is to love her for her. I know you do, but just keep showing her that you love her for her. It is so difficult being that heavy. Got new shoes today! Yay! And the guy at the running store gave me some tips on shin muscle strengthening exercises. I'll definitely do that.

Did 3 laps around the lake for a 4 mile total walk. The last lap, all aching left my shins, so I went as hard as my heart would allow. I felt if I went any faster, I would fall on my face! I was going 4.1 miles per hour average around the lake with an average heart rate of 152 and max of 163. I did that DESPITE the three steep hills and with walking nearly 3 miles already. Felt good, but man, is my face beet red! Had to stop for a potty break after the first lap around - walking got the gut moving! LOL

Oh, but I ate tacos again tonight for dinner. We had leftovers, so waste not! So, I will not fret because of the inevitable gain tomorrow.

Have a good night everyone!

You did one hour at Curves PLUS circuit and Zumba? or did that at Curves? And three more miles on the treadmill?

Really, don't do too much on too little fuel. Or too much in one day period. That's an awful lot and trying to do so much a day is hard on the body. Just be careful!

I have to agree with this one. My high weight was 'only' 275, but it might as well been 1000. NO matter the weight, it has to come from within to change, 100% and not until they are ready (if they ever get ready).

Good for you! But I have to ask... why plan in a cheat day? if you are doing fine and feel fine, why do you schedule in a day that is a high day, "just because"? I can understand a party or a dinner date that comes up, but I don't understand planning a high day for no reason other than to say, "i've earned a high day." Or does this help you stay on plan at other times?

I have already put the jeans away. I am actually thinking about taking 1 pair of the largest size back out and putting them where I keep my daily clothes. This will be especially helpful for the times that I feel snacky, I'm PMS'ing, or I'm having some type of mental lapse. :dizzy: ;)

Diana, you have referred to losing weight before and then a car accident and gaining a lot after that. Was it a huge weight loss before? And besides the car accident, could you pinpoint why you regained? I know this is something I struggle with in regards to my weight loss 13 years ago. I can think of all sorts of things that 'added' to the burden of life that made it more difficult, but none of it seems that logical or a true reason to stop losing and then turn around and gain 90 pounds in a bit over a year. It terrifies me too. I feel I'm in a better place now. But what if I don't stay in that mindset and regain? I wish I could climb inside my own brain sometimes too! I can't even figure myself out!

Great Day!!:carrot::carrot: Big Whoosh :D:D 4 pounds

Calories are 764 for the day.

The doctor want's me to start eating high protein to help my incision healing.
He also wants me to limit red meat to about one lean serving per month as a permanent plan. Any ideas for high protein meals without red meat for the long haul would be appreciated. I basically need to forget that beef exists.

The visiting nurse was here today. She is amazed that I can routinly get the Airlife breathing exercisor all the way to the top. She says she has never seen a patient fresh from the hospital that could do that.

Walked as much as my DW would allow today and I feel great

Larry,

Way to go Larry!

Honestly, I almost never, ever eat beef. Pork is so much more juicy and can be so lean - a grilled pork loin? Divine! Instead of ground beef, ground turkey or pork or lamb or a mix of all of the above. Beans are high protein. Quinoa and don't forget nuts and nut butters. My cholesterol in 3 months dropped 30 points and I eat a high fat, high protein diet, but most of my fats are olive oil and nuts. Oh, and eggs of course.

Berry- I plan in a cheat meal. My trainer suggested it... your body gets used to the same calorie intake and same foods and he wants me to add extra carbs and other foods every now and then to keep my body guessing. I only do the cheat meal if I have stayed on plan for two weeks and then I have it. Last time I did a planned cheat I had two slices of pizza... and even stay around my calorie goal. Last week I "accidently" cheated with 2 bowls of cereal- so I have to wait 2 weeks from that cheat to have a planned cheat. I think it helps me. I f I have something planned that I am looking forward to then I stay on my plan for those two weeks religiously. When I haven't planned when and what the cheat will be I tend to "accidently" cheat.

Lauren I did great at 1200 calories - but 1500 has been easier. I sometimes roll my eyes at all the thoughts that 1200 is too low and you'll go into "starvation mode." Seriously- don't you think it would take a lot less food to put you in "starvation"- I do. I exercised pretty hard at 1200 calories... but it got hard for me to stick to for a prolonged period of time... just b/c I wanted to eat more.

I guess I'm not that religious about what I eat. I eat what I prepare for my family minus the carb side dish. We have pizza about once every two weeks, and I eat a slice or two. My calories vary from day to day 1000 to 1500. I just can't target a caloric intake for the day. If I'm hungrier on a day, I'll eat a bit higher. If I'm not as hungry, I'll eat a bit lower. Now, I have a max I will 'tolerate' for eating, but so far, I haven't needed to eat more than that (except for last night's rhubarb pie situtation that got me up to 2040 for the day).

Here's the past week:

Monday I ate 1347 calories with 65 net carbs
Sunday I ate 2040 calories with 167 net carbs (the rhubarb pie day)
Saturday I ate 924 calories with 33 net carbs (busy day, not hungry or time)
Friday I ate 1072 calories with 58 net carbs
Thursday I ate 1223 calories with 86 net carbs
Wednesday I ate 1332 calories with 118 net carbs
Tuesday I ate 1476 calories with 88 net carbs

I just know for me personally that I have to be able to eat the way the rest of my family eats to make it work. I just can't make a separate meal for myself and then cook something for them. I couldn't personally sustain that forever.

It's just interesting how we all have to find our own systems that work for us, isn't it?

Great Day!!:carrot::carrot: Big Whoosh :D:D 4 pounds

Went from 255 to a new low 251 !!:carrot:

Calories are 764 for the day.

The doctor want's me to start eating high protein to help my incision healing.
He also wants me to limit red meat to about one lean serving per month as a permanent plan. Any ideas for high protein meals without red meat for the long haul would be appreciated. I basically need to forget that beef exists.

The visiting nurse was here today. She is amazed that I can routinly get the Airlife breathing exercisor all the way to the top. She says she has never seen a patient fresh from the hospital that could do that.

Walked as much as my DW would allow today and I feel great

Larry,

:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :bravo: LARRY :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

So proud of your breathing effort! It is IMPERATIVE that you WEIGH DAILY!! Same clothes, same scale, same or near time--preferably upon rising!!! If you start to see a 2-3 pound gain in a DAY--call your MD!! This is probably NOT food related!

No more beef-- :nono:
chicken, turkey, fish, salmon: all grilled--NOTHING FRIED! :ink: LIMIT THE PORK :ink: too much sodium for your heart!!
protein shakes or bars

It's difficult in the beginning, but YOU CAN DO IT!! One day at a time--ONE DAY AT A TIME, friend :)

Wow Larry! Congrats! Way to go!! I almost never eat red meat. I probably eat it once every 2 weeks or so. For some reason, my body doesn't handle it as well as some of the other meats. I get bloated and gassy. :o I rely on chicken, lean pork, fish, beans and whey protein. I especially LOVE chicken breasts marinated in Mojo (a marinade found in the Mexican food aisle) and grilled on the grill. I could easily eat that for lunch and dinner every single day. I also like Mrs. Dash seasonings and marinades. They're low or no salt and delicious.

Diana: Thank you so much. We were very fortunate. We could see the debris flying into the air from our house and hear what we thought at the time was an engine or generator. :fr: Very fortunate indeed!

Berry: I have planned a 'cheat' meal for Easter Sunday. My plan involves a 2000 calorie limit, and I have to eat at least 2 servings of veggies. However, if I do it, I have to stay under my maximum 1500 calories all week this week AND do my workouts.

Today my calorie tally was 1429 calories. That is probably high. I tried to compensate for not knowing exact amounts for lunch (because my friend prepared it for me) and dinner (hubby made dinner) and so I over estimated. For instance, I KNOW the tuna salad wasn't normal tuna salad, it was made in a very calorie-conscious way, but I still logged it as regular. Same with the chili dh made.

I did my walk earlier, P90X and then 20 minutes on the elliptical a little bit ago. I am SO ready for bed!! LOL

Thanks Diana ... you are such an inspiration ... not to sound funny but I love talking to you and hearing what you have to say ... every little thing helps

Melissa what a workout ... wow :) I went to Curves and did the circuit while doing Zumba. It takes about a hour and 10 minutes. I only managed to do 1 mile in 21 minutes on the treadmill burned 136 calories (my thighs started to hurt). Thanks  ... I'm definitely gonna take it slow. :)

Lindsey I've stayed on plan also but hungry now. Just got me a cup of grapes 60 calories (I think)

Larry Congrats on your new low! What a great whoosh! GO YOU!!! :yay:

ChubbyPanda I love it here ... so many wonderful people :)

Stacy I do that often ... I was told to open to windows and go back and forth, it works sometimes but I have to remember to copy it so I can paste it just in case I hit the wrong key again :)

Well I just ate a cup of grapes and I feel much better it satisfied that hungry feeling. I hope the scale is nice to me in the morning. Some of you know that I am a constant weigher and each time I weighed today the scale said 180.6 ... is it broken? that has never happened. Rest well everyone ... shower and bed for me ... Good night! :grouphug:

To make, not necessarily bought. I need some fresh ideas! :thanks:

K9 I love hummus with a variety of veggies. A hard boiled egg. A tablespoon of peanut butter (for some reason that is more filling to me than a handful of peanuts). You can make a bunch of pancakes and store them in one to two pancake servings and keep them in your freezer.(I make for my kids this mix - high protein and fiber: http://www.hodgsonmill.com/roi/673/Soy-Products/Multi-Grain-Buttermilk-Pancake-w-Milled-Flax-Seed--Soy-71518-02028.htm What else, apples. protein shakes (not high carb ones, but a whey protein mix).

hey all,

Larry, i second k9s advice..really watch that daily weight for water gain. Tamponade is a complications from cardiac surgery brought on by excess fluid around the heart. you are at a greater risk because of the open heart surgery...so really watch it! on the other hand. i'm so excited you are doing exceptionally well with recovery. God is really blessing you!

Diana, i really think we learn from our mistakes and the fear of gaining weight can be over ridden with realizing you got through it once, in the even of that, you can do it again.

afm: there was not a good bone in my body today. cursed pecan sandies cookies. they remind me of my dad...and i overindulged. well as much as my stomach would let me....so much pressure when i eat, it really hurts. blah.

i was so tired from all the activity yesterday, the most i did today was SLEEP.

you guys keep up the good work, i am the lazy one of the bunch, but you inspire me!

well i ate better today :) Still no breakfast though. Maybe one day Ill get it together. I am SO sore today too. I still need to walk on the treadmill today too.

why do you need to weigh yourself every day? I was just going to do it at the beginning of the month and the last day of the month. Any more and i think id be too critical of myself.

and as far as snacks, i know 1c of popcorn has 45 calories. 1oz of pretzels has 108 calories. 1oz of dark chocolate has 145 calories. Two, 2in cookies have 98 calories. does that help? -- The Portion Plan by Linda Gassenheimer (im reading the book right now)

.....a few PERSONALS

LINDS: Do you think perhaps we are estranged fraternal twins or sisters? Gosh, we have much in common!

STACYGEE: How do you prepare edamame? I would love to try it! :)

PINT: Your exercise regime makes Zumba look like a stroll around the block for me! WOW!! :bravo:

 to everyone else

My Monday was fabulous (food/exercise wise)!

B: cereal, banana, skim milk 205
L: Santa Fe Chicken Wrap 503
D: Grilled Chicken and Veggie Baked Potato, Sauteed Mushrooms 279
S: PB crackers 95; Fiber One Bar 140; Edy's Fruit Bar 60
Total: 1282

I took a quick check of my heart rate 1/2 way through Zumba today and with the lower-impact instructor. I thought I had burned about 350 cals/hr, since my heart rate stayed between 125-130 bpm! BOY!!! was I WRONG!!!
I went to the Shapesense.com site and plugged my data into the calorie burn calculator--the total was 708 :broc:

:dancer: I was astonished!!! :dancer:

I took the k9s for a 40 min walk early this afternoon, which spent another 160 cals. MFP quoted that if I did the same thing everyday for 5 weeks, I'd be 141 lbs!! :carrot: :carrot:

:flow1: My water total was also out of the park at approx 88 oz!!! :flow1:

Good Monday!!
Tomorrow is a different story--I have to work (yuck)

Edamame - I just buy a bag of it in the pods from the frozen section. Throw it in the microwave and POOF an easy snack or side dish- great for healthful snacking.

a treat that I have on hand for a snack is a Nature Valley Granola Thin. It has a chocolate coating and is granola. It is only 80 calories. I really like them. I have also had Fiber One 90 calorie bars on hand when I need an emergency snack. Like to think it is a good snack b/c of the extra fiber. This week I also bought precut carrot chips and am dipping them in hummus. I love it but need to be careful I don't overdo it!

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you have a fantastic day!

I am almost scared to post this. It seems like every time I say something it ends up biting me in the butt. :( Anyways, fingers crossed :goodluck: that it doesn't happen this time. I have slept well the last 2 nights. It seems like the idiot across the street has been leaving for work, this week, at 7 AM instead of 4 AM. I am grateful that he has been going to work later. What I still don't understand is why does he have to have the radio blaring music at 7 am with all the doors and windows open? He literally opens the windows and doors, starts the truck/radio, and then proceeds to load his truck! Makes no sense to me. There are quite a few retired people around us. These people stay up late at night and sleep in. Doesn't this guy realize that not everyone is up at 4, 5, 6 or even 7 AM. What an idiot! Rant over! ;)

Diana, you have referred to losing weight before and then a car accident and gaining a lot after that. Was it a huge weight loss before? And besides the car accident, could you pinpoint why you regained?

My first weight loss was in high school. I lost 100 pounds. I stayed pretty slim and trim until I got married. DH has horrible eating habits. I pretty much started eating along with him. It doesn't help that I am a big eater. That's a bad combination. DH commented that my weight gain when we got married was his fault. I don't blame him, I am responsible for my actions. But it's was a tough combination.

I guess it was the first 5-7 years of marriage I ballooned up to 358+ pounds. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid. I started taking thyroid meds and lost 140 pounds. Then I was in a car wreck. The workouts and eating correctly started slacking. Time passed and I was up to 292 pounds. I am so grateful that I didn't get any higher this time.

My Dr at the time, who was a GP never did change my thyroid meds and said everything was normal. I didn't think things were normal because I had started working out again and was eating better without any results. I decided to go to an Endocrinologist. The Endocrinologists tests showed that my thyroid meds were not correct and it didn't matter how much I worked out or how little I ate, I was not going to lose. She changed my meds early in 2008. I have been losing ever since. :carrot:

Hi everyone :wave::coffee:

I started composing personals yesterday in Word, and then I couldn’t post. After I got home from work last night, my daughter was visiting until I went to bed, so I didn’t have time to post then either. So between the lines is yesterday’s stuff.
___________
Waaay behind on personals, so here goes:

LindseyLou: Thanks about the 50 pounds and the job.

DianaLA: the scale’s gotta move soon. Don’t give up. About your daughter – of course she can have a good life! She’ll be okay with it if you are. Miserably full on 1400 calories? Oh, Diana, that would never happen to me. I’d be starving! You go, girl.:carrot: And thanks about the job comments. You’re right!

Novel: ooh, hope your foot feels better soon.

Surfergirl: Like you say, body weight fluctuations are normal. How long has your weight been there? You’re really close to goal, too, and then the weight just comes off slowly.;)

LaurenA: I hope you feel better soon  This has been a long haul for you! How did the dress fitting go?:D:D

StacyGee: I hope you’ve been able to get your focus back. :dust: But the fluctuations in our focus are just human on long weight loss journeys. You’ll get there! Edit: looks like you had a whoosh. I saw your ticker! :woohoo:

K9: congrats on Saturday’s 2.6 pounds. :cb::cb::cb: I’m one of the ones who loses boobs first, too. :?:

Berry: thanks, and congrats on the new low, it’ll be back soon. :cb::cb::cb: Congratulations on the “face lift”.;)

Jomatho: Congratulations on the new low!!! :cb::cb::cb: You did it, you got through the vacation, and it didn’t dereail you. And, hey, you are now firmly in onederland. :woohoo: thanks, BTW,and I’m with you about the stress. I love what I do, but my work is not my life. And , really, dh and I are comfortable financially.

AMKRC: Congratulations on the weight loss.! :woohoo: That’s gotta feel good!:D

Diana3271: That two-in-one thing! That’s fantastic! :cheer2::woohoo::cheer2: And I’m with Berry – you’ve done this in a gradual, healthy way, and you are sooo consistent. Believe in yourself.

Oh, Pint, glad to hear you’re okay. Sounds like it was terrible! You’ve done so well with your weight loss and exercise, a little fluctuation from one Chinese meal is no biggie. You’ve just survived a crisis – take a deep breath, and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Give your doggies and kiddies a hug for me!

Laaarrrryyyy, you’re back! Glad to hear you’re feeling good! You outsmarted those old buzzards, didn’t you!

Cubbypanda: We’ve never met before, so “Hi!”
-----
So here’s my check-in. I did 58 minutes of running outside Sunday. That counts as an hour doesn’t it? The weather was truly miserable here – strong winds with blowing snow. :p The snow was just driving into my face. I kept one eye shut, and the other open just a peep so I could see where I was going. But, I thought, I said I was going to work out for an hour, and I was determined to finish! I tracked my calories Sunday, and they came in too high at 2150, but we celebrated DIL’s bday, and I made chocolate chip orange cupcakes with chocolate ganache for icing

Anyhoo, most of the weekend weight is off. Scale said 138.6 Monday and again this morning. I felt cheated this morning, because I ate about 1850 calories yesterday, which is low for me. Also, the scale last night said 140.2, and I usually lose three pounds through the night. I’m like you, Berry, I weigh myself before bed to get an idea about what’s coming in the morning. Oh, well, maybe tomorrow.

So, today I want to stay under 2000 calories. Tonight is the bike club ride, but I’m not sure if I’ll go. It’s sooo cold here, about 30 degrees right now. Yuck. If I don’t go, I’ll do an indoor workout tonight.

Oh, I almost forgot. I mentioned a job offer this past weekend. Disappointing news – it fell through. :( They offered it to me, but they wanted to pay very little. There’s a lot of downward pressure on salaries in my field, but I’m not going along with it! I’ll stay where I am, where the pay is decent, and I get a nice benefit package, and I’ll learn other ways to deal with the stress. Those of you who posted about it, thanks. I really appreciate it. :grouphug:

C U later. I’ll catch up on more recent personals then. Have a great, on-plan day, everybody! ;) :D :grouphug:

As expected, I had another gain because of taco salad. I can't really be bugged by it as I know WHY I'm stalled out, but it is kind of funny how ONE FOOD has such a predictable outcome on the scale.

Meeting up with some friends today (weather permitting) at Great Falls, Maryland. That's such a pretty, scenic walk. And I haven't seen this friend in a year, so it will be nice to catch up with her and her family.

I will check in first and then try to catch up on reading posts/personals. I don't know how life got so busy all of the sudden.
DS finally got to play his first baseball game last night due to rainouts and then being sick prior to this. He did well, we were proud parents :D. BUT, I figured out last night that baseball game nights will be a 5 hour committment for the home games, so add in driving time for the away games :yikes: They play all double headers. So I better get on here in the mornings on game days or I will be missing my daily 3FC fix!
Weight today back to 195.6 (was 197 yesterday:(). Got in a freakin awesome interval workout yest. morning, I am pushing my high point and feeling great doing it! It's like my butt and legs are staring to 'pop' and I feel 'springy'. Does that make sense? Didn't track calories yesteday, and barely got all my water in, plan to do better with both of those today!
NSV: put on a school themed long sleeve tee that I bought during football season, an XL, which was too tight back then, and I am swimming in it now! :D It's freezing here right now, so I can wear it under a sweatshirt/jacket, but I will be handing this down to my DS soon, he is growing out of his medium we got him. Maybe we will swap sizes  So all is good here, lots of NSVs this week and weight is holding stable. I just have to get all the pieces of my plan working together again :dizzy:, I will get there! I really want to show a loss this week, so I have to put it all in gear in order to do that.
Miss you guys when I can't get on here!

Roadbiker- I did have a whoosh! I guess it took my body a while to recover from the 5K and then all that extra WHOOSHED back out. I am 178 and holding today. My best friend wants me to run a 5K with her in 2 weeks- but I am thinking of saying NO. I feel like I lost a week of weight loss and sometimes that can really affect you. BTW- 58 minutes is an HOUR to me!

I had a great ON plan MOnday with tons of exercise. I worked out at the gym in the AM and the PM. This morning I am going for 2 hours. Then I will be making meals for my friend with brain cancer. I am making a roast, grilled chicken and cream of potatoe soup... and probably roasted potatoes. I also have a pound cake and cinnamon bread to make. She is SO hungry from the steroids.

Stacy, :woohoo: on your whoosh and new low! Somehow, all the good decisions catch up with you don't they :D.

Berry, what do you make your taco salad with? Maybe you could tweak it a little? Culprits could be sodium or beans? However, it is only temporary, so as long as you are eating it occasionally, who cares right? You've got me wanting taco salad now!

Larry, go glad you are doing well. I say if you like fish, stick with that for a while and add in some skinless chicken breast here and there (or turkey breast). While you are recovering, you can look up some new ways to cook fish/chicken or whatever you choose! How is your DW holding up through all of this? She must have been very worried about you!

Roadbiker, that's okay about the job, things happen for a reason, I believe, so you are where you are supposed to be right now!

Who else had new lows? I think it was DianaLa, Diana3271, and Shells, anyone else? Well, :congrat: to you all! Way to go! I can't wait for my next scale drop!

Gotta run, BBL

Girls, I think I'm going to shave my legs today! This doesn't usually happen until summer and only when I REALLY need it. My leg hair is blonde and not really noticeable except at my ankles, but it's time to break out the shorts in the next couple days when I take my walks and I get too hot in long pants when I'm buzzing around the lake.

The weird thing with this weight loss is though, the back of my legs (considering I'm 41 years old and still quite overweight) look pretty good. They are not all cellulite-ish. The FRONT of my legs are all lumpy though - down to mid thigh. I hate that! because I can see that! My arms, surprisingly, are looking pretty good - still BIG, but no lumpy. Even my stretch mark riddled tummy is shrinking up - not pretty, but it never has been and no one ever sees taht except for Dh and he's fine with that - those stretch marks are mommy battle scars and DH sees them as a fair price to pay for the kids.

The only shorts I have right now are athletic skorts, these: http://www.rei.com/product/808029 I will try to get more as the weight comes down, but these can work for some many purpsoses and have a drawstring, so can fit for a bit longer as I drop more weight. I love all these skorts: http://www.rei.com/search?query=skort&button.x=0&button.y=0 But, they show a bit of my dimply thighs. Yuck! Though, I'm not willing to wear longer clothes and then suffer from the heat. Comfort is definitely first.

A confession: I'm the biggest cheerleader out there when it comes to scale fluctuations. "They happen" "Scales can be weird like that" "It'll come off again in no time."

Well here's the truth: my scale doesn't usually fluctuate much. The rate I lose changes, but if I'm paying attention and haven't totally pigged out, I hardly ever see the scale go up my more than a couple decimal points. Then my eating wasn't salty and not great over the weekend and I was up a pound, but I wasn't too bothered by it. Yesterday I ate pretty well, calories were reasonable. I even did some Just Dance in the evening for a little bit of exercise. And this morning I was up again and I don't like it. Weigh in this morning was 212.0.

All I can do is keep going and hope it all evens itself out.

Now for personals:

Lauren - I think you might lose more quickly if you drop your calories, but you'll probably get there eventually with the 1500, unless you've been doing that already and it hasn't been working.

Novelista - Feel better!

Shellsbrood - Hope everyone feels better soon!

Berry - a piece of pie isn't the end of the world. (A whole pie might be. :) ) Yay on the new shoes. I have to confess that I'm a bit superstitious about shoes. It seems like in the past, whenever I get new shoes is the point at which I totally fall off the wagon and stop exercising/eating right. I'm desperately in need of some now, but my superstition coupled with the fact that I can't ever find shoes that fit me (yeah, I've tried a real running shoe store) is holding me back.

Lindsey - I seem to have hungry days sometimes, even when everything I'm doing is similar to the day before. Haven't figured it out yet :)

Larry - Sounds like your doing great. I guess you'll have a lot of chicken and fish in your future :D Maybe you can incorporate more beans too, and dairy throughout your day. Perhaps your doctor could suggest some meal plans. Seems like he should be there to assist you in making the changes he wants you to make. Where I live there's a co-op that sells grass-fed buffalo, elk, etc. meats. They're red, but very low fat like Stacy suggested.

Rachel - sounds like a good plan!

Surfergirl - Way to stick it out. :D

K9 - Ditto on the sun! It's been so dreary here! My snacks include: fruit (apples, clementines are my biggies.), raw veggies (snap peas are a fave), yogurt, wasabi peas, occasional granola bar.

Pint- I here P90X is BRUTAL. Hope you can still walk tomorrow. :)

Love2b150 - I occasionally do add stuff to fitday, but I don't like to. So much of what I eat is weird and hard to log, so I usually just break it down into ingredients and work that way. Since I don't have a super strict calorie limit, I don't worry too much about it usually.

morethananumber - you don't need to weigh yourself everyday. Larry needs to weigh himself daily because he's had heart surgery and gaining water weigh is a symptom that needs to be tracked very closely.

Diana - aaaaahhhh, sleep.

roadbikerchick - Snow! AAAHHH! I'm so ready for spring. We still have a few piles here and there, but it's almost gone, thankfully. And I'm saying this as someone who likes winter.

Jomatho - Don't sports schedules just wear you out?

Stacy - Yay whoosh!

Whoooh! How do you folks do it? I'm not sure I can keep up. :)

Hey guys!

Phew so hard to catch up on personals! Tomorrow is my last day of law school, and school generally! I'm going to be studing a lot for exams over the next two weeks.

Anyways, weighed in at 124.0 this morning. I think I want 122 to be my "I ate really clean yesterday" weight, with 124 being my high fluctuation after a normal/cheatish day. I ate good yesterday so I think I still have a stubborn lb or so to fix the damage from the last week.

Other news....

Going to BLACK LIGHT Zumba with the girlfriends tonight! I'm so excited... never done it, but I'm sure the black light will make it even more interesting!

Also, I FINALLY have learned how to prepare Tofu Shirataki noodles without gagging. I read online that after draining/padding dry you should toss it in a frying pan... and that it really is best with asian sauces. So I made a bison steak, and tossed some Shirataki with this soy-type sauce I have (a lot less sodium though), and it was really good! The frying pan really fixed a lot of the too-gooey texture. Since Shirataki is only 40 cals and 2 net carbs per 8 oz this is awesome!

Also, has anyone researched the benefits of 1 teaspoon of cinnamon a day? Apparently it is a natural appetight suppressant, fat/carb blocker, and helps you think more clearly! Going to try to make that a daily supplement!

_____ Personals ____

Larry, Jomatho, and Gaining... Congrats on the new lows! Gaining you are SOSOSO close to Onederland... Anyone want to place a friendly wager? I think you will see it .... next THURSDAY (just an arbitrary guess haha).

Roadbiker... I dont think anyone hear would begrudge you those 2 minites! Haha. Awsome job!

Chubbypanda... Just do personals when something "real" to respond strikes you, no one will fault you if you don't address them every time! There are a LOT of people on this thread!

Lindsey... I've been really snacky lately too... maybe the cinnamon will help :-)

Whomever askecd for snack ideas... do you ever do FF cottage cheese and either cinnamon or cocoa powder/splenda? the later is so indulgent I usually make it dessert though!

Berry – I know, I wish I could understand that. I’m eating similar or the exact same foods that satisfy me normally…weird! :dunno:

Larry - :yay: for the whoosh!! Some high protein foods are fish, soy, chicken, pork, beans (lentils, black and pinto), eggs/diary, and nuts. Here is a list of some high protein foods. http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/highproteinfood.htm

Pint – You sure had an exercise filled day! Wow! :D

Love2b – What is with that? I hate being full, but I don’t like feeling like I’m starving either…:dunno:

K9 – We could be?!?! Haha!! ;) For your low calorie snack ideas…fruit (strawberries, bananas, grapes, apples, etc.), string cheese, 1 T PB, nuts (cashews, peanuts), yogurt, cottage cheese, carrots (I like the baby ones ;))…I love those 100 cal bags of popcorn for a snack too! You kicked butt yesterday btw!! :D And wow, that is crazy you burned that many calories…I think I better find a zumba class! ;) Oh and about hummus…you’ll love it!

Morethan – You don’t need to weigh yourself daily…if you think it might be discouraging weigh once or twice a month. I am just impatient so I couldn’t do that!

Bonnie – Sorry to hear your day was rather rough due to PMS. Today is a new day! :D

Diana – Good question. I’d love to know why my neighbors think it’s acceptable to be loud at all hours of the night?! :dunno: People are just ignorant and inconsiderate. I’d almost like to know their sleep schedule so I could be loud and obnoxious to keep them up while they try to rest!!!

Road – Sorry to hear the job fell through, it’s amazing how little some jobs want to pay nowadays! It’s sad…I have friends back home that would LOVE to make just $10/hour…and still that isn’t much to live off of. :( And wow, running in the blowing snow like that!!! You’re my hero! :D

Jo – Congrats on 195!!! :D

Zoodoo – That is terribly frustrating when you’re doing everything right and gain…our bodies are just crazy sometimes I think! :dizzy: The scale will be down soon!

Whew! Personals are complete...I hope I didn't miss anyone! If I did, my apologies and Hello!

Down 1# this morning to a new low of 137.6! :yay: I'm determined to stay on plan more than ever today...no more of this new low..then gain..then new low..then gain crap!

Anyways, hope y'all have a great, OP day! :D

I use cinnamon every day. More because I love it. I sprinkle it on my apple (a lot) and eat that with peanut butter. Can't hurt and it tastes great. I especially like Saigon cinnamon. It's a bit spicier.

Hey ladies! I haven't been in lately with getting ready for my trip and then actually being on the trip. :) I just wanted to stop in and say hi!

Florida is gorgeous and wonderful right now, getting here was the road trip from **** though. I left home at 6am. At about 9am I got a flat tire in Virginia. It took FOREVER to get it taken care of and I didn't get back on the road until almost 4. Then at 4:30 I was driving through an area in NC that unbeknownst to me was getting hit with a bunch of tornadoes. Suddenly rain went to heavy hail and I crept along the highway until I got to an overpass and pulled under it. Cars were stopping in the middle of the road. The hail was crazy, but then it started raining so hard and the wind was so strong that I couldn't even see the car parked right in front of me. Thank God my daughter was fast asleep during all this or her being scared would have added to the stress and fear I was feeling. After the weather calmed down I kept going down the highway and got stuck in traffic. It turns out a tornado went through a town about 20 miles south of where I was, I heard on the radio that the interstate I was on was closed because of debri so I pulled off at the next exit. The town had no electricty and there were people everywhere. A couple hours later the interstate opened back up and I was able to keep going. I stopped about an hour and a half later in a town that had a lot of hotels. The first three I stopped at were full and then the fourth I got the last room they had and it was a smoking room. It was really gross and I wish I had kept going a bit further, but once I had all my crap in the room I was just ready to relax a little. The next day went much better. It was beautiful and then roads the rest of the way to Florida weren't nearly as crazy as they'd been Saturday. So my 13 hour drive turned into a 30+ one if you count the stop at the crummy hotel. When we got here my step dad told me that a tornado went through the town I happened to be in when I was parked under the overpass. It even went over the interstate by an exit that was about 100 yards infront of where I was parked. Scary stuff.

The important thing is we're ok. We're having a great time with my parents and hopefully the trip home will go much smoother.

As far as eating goes, the trip down was a little stressful so I ate a little more junk then I should have. Since we've been here I've been doing pretty good.. eating a lot more carbs then usual, but I'm not beating myself up over it since I'm on vacation. :)

I hope everyone is doing great and that you all have a great rest of the week!

Hi Everyone!

I did get to go for my run last night, but my 4 days of laziness pre-TOM made it quite difficult for me. I struggled the entire 3 miles. I am feeling a bit better/more energized today. I'm still insanely hungry and want to stuff my face with chocolate but I'm behaving.

The pills I believe are working. I haven't seen my SO since I started TOM so I'm not 100% sure yet. I did get angry yesterday, but I was able to rationalize that it's my hormones and calm myself back down. I am just trying to keep to myself so I don't lash out. Luckily I'll be on my own this weekend too so maybe Mr. Hyde won't pop out of me. :)

____________

Melissa- WOW! You are a fast walker. I don't even go that fast when I'm doing my c25k runs!!! Sorry you're up because of the tacos. Don't worry, it'll come off.

Lindsey - Congrats on your new low!! I'm feeling SUPER hungry too. I could literally eat everything!! And I mean everything!

Larry - Glad you are doing better and CONGRATS on your whoosh!! :carrot:

Pint - Congratulations to you for staying on plan and working out considering the weather ordeal you just went through!

Love2b150 - My scale was stuck for 5 days with no change. I took out the batteries and put them back in...recalibrated it...and then it showed a 2 lb loss (It's worth a try :) )

Jen - I hope you feel better today. YOU ARE SO NOT LAZY!!! You are always working on your pool and planting flowers. You deserve some rest!

k9 - Holy crap! You burnt a TON of calories! WAY TO GO!

Stacy - I love the Sabra hummus too! Any flavor for me :)

Diana - I really hate inconsiderate neighbors. I have some living above me and they play video games and movies so loud. I called my buildings security late one night and they went up and shut them up. So...I feel for you :(

Roadbiker - WOW! You ran for an hour in the snow? Holy cow! That's impressive! Sorry about the job offer, but I think you made the right choice.

Jo - Congrats on your NSV!! That's great!!

Zoodoo - Isn't the scale frustrating!?? I hate it sometimes!

Wow, is all I can say... just wow! Sooooo many posts in one day!!!! How can I catch up?!?!?

Well I am going to try my best.....

Rennie - Yes, we can do this!!!! Even if we slip up, we just have to get back on that horse!!!!! :D K9 I'm with Rennie on this, and I appreciate it ===> "Acknowledge that at some point, you are going to blow it--sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time, but it's when we give in to that behavior that the weight will ultimately find itself back on our thighs, hips, abdomen, etc!"

Diana - Hi Lady! We are already halfway through the week!!! Yay for Easter! Have a good day :D Glad to hear you are sleeping better, I wil also keep my fingers crossed for you :crossed:

Hi Melissa! How are you liking your new shoes??

Linds - What a great OP day, awesome :D

Larry!!!! Yay for the whoosh!!!! And I am so glad to hear you are doing well my friend!

chubbypanda - hellooooooooooooooo The number of ladies in here is encouraging (and kind of overwhelming - I want to comment on everyone's post but I would NEVER get to bed on time!). It feels great knowing we are all in this thing together! Believe me, we all feel the same way at times.... we are definitely a chatty bunch of people. But there are no expectations here :D

stacy - Thanks for your feedback. I think I will stick to the 1550 cals a day I am eating now and see how that goes... i'll drop down if I feel it is necessary. Have a great OP day :D

Hello Pint  Great job getting your exercise in! Have a good day! :D

K9 - One of my favourite snacks is raw broccoli, carrots and cucumbers with hummus! If I need a little something more i'll add some low-sodium triscuits! mmm mmm mmm! That's one of my snacks planned for today!

jen - You are so close to seeing your little bubba!!! Due 2 days before my birthday! Go Taurus!!!!! HeHe :D

morethananumber - Yay for a better day! :cp: Just take it one day at a time, you will ge there! :D

bonnie - TOM is evil  Just do the best you can when it's around, that's all you can do! :D

roadbiker - Thanks for asking! My dress fitting went very well. Fits great, and as I said to Diana yesterday, there is def. some room for me to lose pounds without comprimising the dress fit. All that needs to be done is a length adjustment. Oh and you ran in the snow?!?!? That's crazy... but good job! :cp:

Hi Jo  195!!!! Awesome job girl!!! :cp: And what a great NSV - don't you just love fitting into clothes that you didn't before!

zoodoo - Hey, thanks for the feedback... I'm still umming and ahhhing about dropping down my cals. I'm going to stick to my 1550 per day and maybe make some changes as necessary. Have a good day!

Lacey - Yay! Last day of school! Have a good one! :D

Hi Kim - Oh I wish I had me some Florida weather. It seems this winter just doesn't want to let go! Glad to hear you didn;t get effected by the Tornadoes, scary stuff.

Breanne - Great job getting in your run! :cp:

Phew :faint:

I did it!!! :yay:

So I finally worked up the courage to weigh myself today after weeks of being off-plan... and suprisingly it wasn't a bad number.

193.8.

Much better than I expected so i'll take it and be happy about it and move on from here. I am hoping I can be around 180 for the wedding so that is my goal, to get to 180 by July 6th.

I think it is doable.

Here is my plan for the day Tues 4/19/2011, another BIG breakfast... been so hungry in the mornings lately.

B - 3 weetabix with almond milk + 1 small banana + 2 slices multi-grain bread w/ peanut butter

L - 1 cup barley casserole + 1 cup raw broccoli & 5 low-sodium Triscuits w/ hummus

D - Marinated tofu on brown rice w/ bok choy

Drinking: At least 2L water + 2 cups green tea

Exercise: Physio today

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

1940 calories yesterday. Scale still at 150 today. Sigh. Oh well. My weight fluctuates all month but i can compare my lowest weight each month, which occurs after my TOM, to see if i've lost over the course of the month. Unfortunately that is still 2 or 3 weeks away!

No, i weigh every day. My weight is highest just before my TOM, and after it's over, is my lowest weight of the month. So i can compare my high points and low points from month to month to know if i've gained/lost weight.

Surfer, I'm curious (and I guess too lazy to go back through all your old posts :dizzy: ) I've noticed that your calorie allowance is relatively high, and it seems like I saw that you estimate your maintenance calories at 2800? What's your secret? Do you work out non-stop? 'Cause I'd sure like to burn through that many calories in a day.

LLBold and Berry- I have been researching the benefits of cinnamon. For about 10 days I has been consuming 1/2 teaspoon straight cinnamon. I mix it into my greek yogurt. It is quite yummy that way. I tried to mix it n my coffee once but that didn't work out too great... anyway here are some of the things my research has told me:

1. natural appetite suppresant
2. helps regulate blood sugar (less cravings)
3. reduce the growth of cancer cells (specifically leukemia and lymphoma)
4. boosts brain function and memory

Thats all I can remember. The book I read suggests 1/2. I read somewhere else you can have TOO much so I am not sure about the whole teaspoon. Not sure I could figure out how to get anymore down either. 1/2 is good in my yogurt though.

Well, in the past i've been able to maintain my weight eating around 3000 calories a day...it was really months of binging at like 4000 calories a day that made me gain weight (up to 157.5) this winter. I don't have a "secret," but i'm pretty athletic so i have quite a bit of muscle, thus a high metabolism to begin with, plus i'm pretty active. I exercise before and after work, and on weekends i'm off doing something active all day. Don't own a tv, etc. I guess those are all things that contribute to it.

Roadbikerchick Sorry about the job. I always say that everything happens for a reason. This tells me that something even better is coming your way.

Berry Thank you about the new low. I think it's a lot easier to count calories, etc. now than it was before. Before I had this little book to look things up. We have so much more knowledge at our finger tips (internet). I am also curious about the taco seasoning you use. I wonder you are having sodium issues or MSG issues. Most taco seasoning mixes contain high sodium and MSG. I have seen low sodium varieties and ones that do no contain MSG. I have never seen a low sodium, no MSG product, though. If you are using a store bought product, you can google for a taco seasoning recipe. You can control the sodium and it won't contain MSG. I could probably use a recipe like that, too, since I have so many issues with sodium and MSG.

Jomatho Congrats on the NSV and 195.6!

Stacy Congrats on the 178 and for being on plan yesterday! You are such a good friend to your friend. I would like to hug you for her. And a hug for her.

Zoodoo Fluctuations are a total PITA! I had small fluctuations all along, but not that bad. Now that I am close to goal, I am having more fluctuations. I have them while staying 100% on plan. It's crazy!

Lacey Enjoy the Zumba class! Get that studying done! ;)

Lindsey Congrats on the new low! Are you familiar with your ovulation time? I wonder if your hunger is around that time? Maybe you could track it. Last week I was very snacky, but this week I don't seem to be. I should be starting TTOM within the week. I don't know when ovulation is. I already have so much crap to keep up with. If I feel snacky I just eat a hand full of lettuce and drink water. :dunno: It seems to work. Another thing, could it be that you are getting close to goal and it's a mental thing? I think our mind/body can do that stuff to us. It's another thing to ponder/consider.

Kim OMG! That drive to FL sounds insane! I am so glad that you got there safely! Enjoy your vacation!

Novel The pills I believe are working. I haven't seen my SO since I started TOM so I'm not 100% sure yet.
This totally made me laugh out loud! The sad thing is that I totally understand. My DH is a really good guy. When TTOM starts, I can literally look at him and hate him for even extisting! It's crazy! Then as soon as that "mood" passes, I will get all "needy" and think DH doesn't love me. :D

Lauren I'm glad your weigh in wasn't so bad. You can make your July 6 goal! You can do it! :cheer:

WOW! I feel like I haven't been here in.....almost 9 pages!!!!

I'm starting my personals from today. ;)

Diana: Thanks for sharing your weight loss story. Very inspirational.

Larry: Protein? I LIVE on boneless, skinless chicken breast and fish of all kinds. I eat red meat very seldom now. Glad to have you back, my friend!!!

Roadbiker: Sorry the job didn't pan out but it sounds like you've got a great thing going on where you are so not too much lost, right? :)

Berry: Sorry about the gain, but great job in diagnosing what it was from!

zoodoo: Hang in there. It will even out! Fluctuations are the worst! But we ALL know how you feel and are here to help you through it!

Linds: Congrats on the new low!!

Lacey: WOW to the cottage cheese and cocoa powder/splenda combo. Guess what I'm going to try very very soon!!!

Dimples: Hope you're having a great time now that you got that drive down out of the way. :)

Rennie: I missed it big time, so happy really late birthday. :)

Lauren: You're doing great!

Jendiet: Good luck on the studying!

Hello and welcome to all the new folks! We are glad you're here!

I'm not stressed about it. I am off to the gymn today to beat an elliptical into submission for 45 mins.

NSV for me this morning. I am wearing workout pants that are a men's size L!! All of my other pants had been XL, so it's nice to see that I fit into these. I bought them a while ago and was afraid to try them on for the LONGEST time. I'm glad I tried them on today!

You know, I make 99% of our food, but for some reason, I buy our taco seasoning. I did buy a lower sodium one, didn't help. It must be the MSG. Ironically, I DO know know to make my own taco seasoning, but I never do it. Maybe I will start as I've been stuck at this same weight for 8 days now (up and down the same pound). Part of it was TTOM and the rest was tacos. I make our own salsa, but get lazy with teh seasoning packet. I won't do that again... making it myself from now on and see if that helps.

Berry Do you have a tried and true recipe for taco seasoning that you can share? That way lazy ol me won't have to google,

Honestly, I looked at the back of a packet (we have a spicy one that I haven't ever used), and built from there. I just did a google search and came up with this:

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon chili powder
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/2 teaspoon paprika
* 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
* 1 teaspoon sea salt
* 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1. In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper. Store in an airtight container.

But, since I wasn't making it to store, I made it with fresh garlic (one large clove) and a half medium white onion, and then added in the chili pepper, cumin, paprika, oregano. I don't think I added red pepper flakes or black pepper and definitely not a teaspoon of salt, but probably a little. It gets teh flavor, but not that 'sauce' part of the meat... you know where you need to add 2/3s of a cup of water and cook it down? You still can do that to rehydrate the spices, but it doesn't have that fake whatever to make it a thick, coating sauce. We love it that way... just have been lazy to make it... WHy??? I don't know as I ahve all those spices on hand. I take the time to make our own salsa, but not the seasoning. DUMB!

BTW: this recipe is from all recipes adn it has allllll high ratings of like 2300 people.

Berry Thank you. I will print it out. Remember my fiasco last week with the grilled chicken tenders? The food didn't taste overly salty. I really think it was MSG. I tend to be very sensitive to it. Also, the water weight that I gain from it doesn't go away in a day or two. It takes me a while. I wasn't this sensitive when I was heavier. I would have reactions, but I would lose the water weight a lot quicker than I do now.

Berry- if you want the thickeners, I think most use corn starch. I bought an organic seasoning packet and it used potato starch.

I could make it have a bit of a sauce, but what's teh point? Plus, I'm trying to get rid of added carbs, so really don't want to add more in for no reason other than a thickener that doesn't need to be there. Instead of corn starch though, I would probably add just a touch of flour (cornstarch makes a gel).

Diana3271 I do remember your chicken weight gain. I don't know if I've ever been sensitive to it or not. I'm not sensitive to sodium, but must be to MSG. GO figure.

Another food that made me gain was sourkraut. I gained 1.5 pounds for four days when we ate a big pork roast with sourkraut and it then it took an additional day for the water weight to come down. So strange.

Tonight I'm eating the rest of the grilled pork loin and green beans from two nights ago while I prepare ravioli for the rest of the family. We'll see if it helps with the scale tomorrow.

My workout wasn't as intense as before today, but it was still pretty intense. We did our normal walk but didn't have time to do the full P90X workout, so we did "mountain climbers" and planks for 20 minutes instead. I. Am. Beat.

I had a very carb-heavy breakfast, but I plan on making up for it later in the day.

I've been down most of the day today. We've been hearing lots of bad news today. The 24th tornado victim died today, a newborn baby girl. She was the 4th child in the same family to die. It's totally HEARTBREAKING. I can't believe that in the span of an hour, lives changed, my own included. Base life is getting back to normal, but I have been putting off and avoiding going off base since it happened. I feel bad about it, but dang, I'm still having difficulty processing it. :dizzy:

omg, pint, you really need not feel bad about how you are feeling about leaving base. you have been through a very bad tragedy. The loss is affecting you. Take some time to grieve and heal. My heart and prayers go out to the family that has lost 4 members. I can only pray they will receive a blessing as Job did for his losses.

Good Afternoon Eveyone ... wow 4 pages since last night :D

K9 all of what Berry said ... I just ate a tablespoon of pb to knock that hunger edge out :) I made some pancakes with flaxseed meal pretty good (I was surprised) Hummus is my new well liked food :)

Jen you have a reason to be lazy, here lately I don't want to do anything I need to get back into my old groove. Glad you're getting some rest, you've been really busy. Hope the nausea goes away

Morethan, I love weighing everyday ... it tells me that I did well or I need to do better is how I look at it. I actually weigh multiple times which is a bad habit and I always take the higher number :) just a preference I guess.

K9 great job on the calorie burn :high:

Stacy I found a Chipotle flavor that was really good once, went back and it was a special buy so roasted red pepper and tahini is it for now. I want to try the spinach and artichoke hummus one day :) Congrats on your whoosh :) thanks for the info on the cinnamon most of that will help me for sure.

Zoodoo thank goodness it does eventually even out :)

Lacey no I hadn't heard that about cinnamon ... let us know how that goes. It would definitely help me during the afternoon/evening and weekends ... so all the time huh :D

Bonnie how you feel better soon

Diana I guess we all have those type of neighbors. We live in a cul-de-sac and it's the teenagers going to school and coming home or washing their cars. I have talked to the parents and all but one has toned it down. I think they lady is afraid of her daughter or something, it's ridiculous. (shaking my head)

Roadbiker wow good for you on the run ... wish I had that determination :)

Berry you're a couple of hours from me. I'm close to Fredericksburg

Jomatho congrats on the NSV :)

Lindsey, congrats on your new low :) Full is misery for me because I know for me I've over ate. Hunger at the end of the day gets me thinking because I know I can easily over do it ... it's a no win, LOL. But I crushed it with those grapes last night (at least I made myself think so :D)

Dimples sorry about the trip down, but glad that you and your daughter are safe and having a good visit. :crossed: for a wonderful trip home :)

Novel thanks for the tip :)

Lauren good for you on getting on that scale and you're cheering ... 13lbs you can definitely get that done by 7/6

Hi Surfer

Thanks Vixsin as a present send that cleaning :dust: to me that you had a while back, goodness I need it  Congrats on your NSV, good you tried the pants on now while they fit ... I have a suit that DH bought for me and it was snug but the price was right and I knew I would eventually get into it. Well I waited too long to try it on again now it's too big, so enjoy those pants :)

Pint

On personals ... no one has to respond to everyone but NOT one comment that is made here is unimportant. What may be small or unimportant to one may be a big thing to the person that wrote it.

Me ... I have had a so-so day food wise I believe. I haven't entered what I have consumed yet. I did have a great weigh in I am down 1.8lbs to 178.6. Let's hope it continues to go DOWNNNNNNN :D

I wear running skorts ALL the time and LOVE them. I have a couple black Champion brand that don't look like athletic wear. I have worn them to concerts, the market, heck...everywhere :)

Going to BLACK LIGHT Zumba with the girlfriends tonight! I'm so excited... never done it, but I'm sure the black light will make it even more interesting!

Also, has anyone researched the benefits of 1 teaspoon of cinnamon a day? Apparently it is a natural appetight suppressant, fat/carb blocker, and helps you think more clearly! Going to try to make that a daily supplement!

:dancer: BLACK LIGHT ZUMBA ROCKS!! :dancer:

I HAVE actually heard of the cinnamon supplement. I know a lady in my hometown that swears by it. So much in fact, that she buys ground cinnamon (organic) from Whole Foods and the gelatin caps (the clear ones) and prepares the cinnamon capsules herself!! She takes 3caps/day!
I love cinnamon, but I'm not quite sure I'm ready to "make my own" capsules of it. It's worth a shot though!! ;)

:thanks: to all of you who offered "sensible snack" options to me!! I have decided to buy Greek Yogurt, hummus, and edamame tomorrow morning after work to try for the next 7 days. I usually carry a small cooler everywhere I go with water and snacks--basically b/c I'm too thrifty to stop at a convenience store. I typically have Fiber 1 bars, Luna Bars, Yoplait, PB crackers, sugar free jello, or fresh fruit. But, since the BOOM of organic and alternative styles of eating have arrived, I haven't taken the time to discover new food! However, I am going to start making this a priority.

It's still a little strange to me counting everything again, but technology has defo come a long way and made it easier than in the '90s which was the last time I did this!! I feel like I am a walking # and everything is about the #s!

I'm off to work in a couple hours. I didn't sleep well today, so I'll be stuffing myself with  caffeine  tonight!! UGH!! I hate that! It'll take me 2 days to recover from the caffeine binge. I'm going to weigh Friday.

:dancer: You can find a Zumba class near you by entering your zip code on their website (zumba.com). I go to 2 different classes at 2 different churches b/c I am not a gym member anymore. You can typically go to one of your local area churches for $1-$8 per class. The ones I go to are only $1/class. The charity events are $5 here! :dancer:

Have a Happi Day!

Why in the heck would anyone make a cinnamon pill when cinnamon tastes so good? I sprinkle about a 1/2 to 2/3s teaspoon ALL OVER a cut up apple, and then add 3 tablespoons of peanut butter to dip it in. It's either my breakfast or lunch typically, but yes, if I ate more dairy (I think I used to have a dairy allergy as a baby/toddler, so I never developed much of a taste for dairyi, stirring it in cottage cheese, yogurt - YUM! Even sprinkling it on toast with peanut butter.

Cinnamon is so heavenly and adds so much natural sweet flavor that I feel I'm getting a treat, even though it's straight up cinnamon.

Thanks Diana! I have a tracker for that and I'm not for another 2 weeks. I'm not sure if because I'm getting so close to goal or what. It's weird. Kind of frustrating really because I'm so close and I feel like I could easily sabotage myself because I am so hungry. I'm just trying to stay distracted....thinking about school or whatever to stay outta the kitchen!

To everyone else...thank you!

;)Hi everyone :D

Bonnie2009: :welcome2: you know, I felt like I couldn’t have the same control the others had at first either. There is something sooo motivating about posting your successes and flops, though. Give it a try!:D

Diana: congrats on the new low! :cb: The weight’s really moving now, isn’t it.:D

LindseyLou: Glad you’re dropping that weight again. :cb: I’ve tried using cinnamon, too, usually with yogurt for a midmorning snack. I think it helps.

Vixsin: Thanks. I’m so far behind on personals. It’s taking me forever to catch up. :dizzy:

Shells: sorry to hear that you’re all sick :getwell: Congrats on the new low.:woohoo:

LaurenA: I’ve found that I lose the most weight, and keep it off, if I go higher than the recommended calories. If I stick with the recommended amounts, I feel like I’m starving, and that triggers a eating fest (that’s spelled b-i-n-g-e). :D Now, and please don’t hate me folks, but I seem to have a naturally high metabolism, so I seem to need more calories than most. Hey, are you going to post pictures of you in the dress after the wedding? ;)

Berry: Sounds like for a whole weekend of houseguests, you exercised admirable control! :cb: Perfection isn’t the goal, consistency is. Ugh, too bad about the taco salad. I love the stuff, too, but sodium has that same effect on me. Those skorts are so cute, and you could choose whatever length is most flattering to you. They probably look better than you think! :whoo:

Rachel2Writer: Hi :welcome2:

Surfergirl: congrats on so many on-plan days! It might take time, but sooner or later it’ll show up on the scale. :goodscale:

K9: I could sooo use some sunshine! BTW, are you a nurse? I think you said so a couple of threads back. About low calories snacks: this isn’t really low calorie, but it really helps take the edge off of hunger pangs. Eat about 100 calories worth of walnuts, that’s about seven halves. That’s a Dr. Oz idea, and it really works! ;) Congrats on the on-plan day yesterday. :cb:

Diana3271: 90 degrees? Oh, what I would give to feel warm again! It’s about 32 degrees here, and there’s this weird rain-snow mix falling. Brrr. Thanks for sharing your weight loss story. You’re so inspirational. Thank goodness for that endocrinologist. Thanks for your kind words about the job, too.

Pint: sounds like you’re getting back on track really well. :cb: Great working out! Too bad about the mudpie breakfast!!!

Larry: I’m sooo glad you’re doing well. :cb: One of my favorite dishes is to put a tilapia fillet in the middle of a big square of foil. I top it with pesto that’s been seasoned with lemon juice and hot sauce. Then on top of that I put a selection of veggies, maybe butternut squash chunks, tomatoes, and green beans. Then I top the whole thing with more seasoned pesto, wrap it up, and bake it at about 375, until the veggies are crisp-tender, and the fish is cooked. I hope you enjoy it! ;)

StaceyGee: :thanks: and congrats on the whoosh. :cb: Your friend is so lucky to have you  – the food sounds delicious.

Zoodoo: ditto on the snow! About the scale – someone I know once said, “It happens. Scales can be weird like that. It’ll come off again in no time.” ;)

Dimples: I was wondering what had happened to you! I’m so glad you’re safe. A tornado 100 yards away is a little too close!

Novel: would be nice if those pills would tame TOM. You deserve a pat on the back for sticking to the run when your body didn’t want to. :cb: Working out is not so hard when your body feels good; it’s doing it when the bod says “No” that really shows what you’re made of. :cb: :cb:

Love2be150: hope it continues to go down ;)

1033 cals today but I sure have to learn how to do low sodium!!:dizzy:
I hit 4597 mg of sodium and I am only supposed to have a maximum of 2000 mg.

About 1/2 the sodium was in fat free Italian salad dressing used in a recipe for pasta salad. The calories and fat were low but I had no idea that fat free dressing had that much sodium. Most of the rest of the sodium came from fat free cheese. Again the calories and the fat was very low but the sodium went through the roof. Not good for me just after open heart surgery:(:(

My weight this morning was the same 251. I made up an Excel sheet to track it every day at the same time in the morning and wearing the same clothes.

The dressing I like best is Italian. Does anyone have a low fat, low cal, low sodium recipe I can make or a product I can buy.

Just totally pigged out... just ate more calories then I have eaten since August. I actually don't feel bad about it either. I feel a bit rejuvenated actually. I ate cicis pizza buffet... I ate as much as I wanted of everything I wanted. I feel very peplexed by the whole thing- I hope I don't slip into bad habits...but I really wanted to just eat tonight.

I know my 178 will probably be gone in the morning... please friends... remind me to stay on plan tomorrow.

Guys... I'm a culinary genious :-)

You know how I learned how to make shirataki less gooey by putting it in a frying pan. Well, I just finished a little experiment....

8oz Shirataki Noodles
1TB Annie Chungs Pad Thai Sauce
1TB Amino Soy Sauce (less sodium than even the low sodium soy)
4 egg whites
1 TB pb2

Rinse, drain, and throw the noodles in a pan on medium-high... cook for a few minutes to get the texture less gooey, throw in the sauce and egg whites. Sprinkle the PB2 as your cooking and mix it all in.

Um... amazing pad thai swap! Hungry Girl has a swap but it has you make the sauce which is too many steps for me. Overall it comes to 154 cals and 12 net carbs. I'm having a salad too so I'm getting my veggies. Probably would work well with chicken too, I just didn't have any.

Yay I love when I discover a new swap. Pad Thai (with like 800 cals) in a restaurant will never be worth it again.

EDIT: Changed calories, forgot to add the egg whites.

Hey, everyone. I've been too busy. I want to make more time to come here..............I miss you guys terribly. :( :( :( I miss doing personals, even though I DO come in and read....I usually just don't have time to respond. I'm beginning to think things will NEVER calm down for me. I'm so busy it makes me want to cry.....really......literally. I think I'm burned completely out and need a break.

Anyway, tonight was official ww weigh in night.....1.4 lb loss, puts me at a new "official low" of 203.4. Was hoping for a 2 lb week, but I'll take the new low. :) Going to change ticker when I get done with this post. :D I also JUST had a HUGE NSV!! I think I've mentioned here a few times that I thought I was close to needing to come off my Blood Pressure meds.....well, I got that confirmation tonight. I've been really dizzy today....it's been getting progressively worse and worse over the last two weeks. Just had DH take my BP. Lying down: 80/50 :yikes: Pretty scary! Sitting up: 100/78 Not AS bad, but still low to be taking BP meds....of course, these BP's are WITH meds (I took my meds this morning before work). So yeah, I'm thinkin' I may need to schedule that Dr appt now before I completely pass out and scare somebody to death. I told DH that I really wanna wait til I get to onederland (because w/it being a fluid pill, I KNOW I'll see a scale stall for a couple weeks when I go off of the med.)....I don't know if my body will let me wait that long though. :( :( :( Stupid that I wanna wait, I know....I just REALLY wanna see onederland, though.

I'm gonna try to do some personals tomorrow....lots I wanna say to everyone!! :D Miss you guys a lot. :( :( :( Nighty night!!

Hey LL, where do you buy that amino "soy sauce"? Bob Harper was on Rachel Ray yesterday and was making a veggie stir fry using that amino stuff. They said it tastes just like soy sauce but good for you and much less sodium? Forgot to check at the grocery store yesterday. Wondering if you have to get it at health food store or regular store? Thanks. Your dish sounds delish. Don't you love it when you find something yummy that is good for you too?:carrot:

Weight was 211 this morning, so I guess the scale is creeping itself back down which is good, although I can't say I wouldn't have preferred a whoosh. I didn't finish my grocery shopping this weekend. I have food for dinners, but my lunches are...creative. Yesterday it was an apple with cheese, some leftover squash and some (super-tart) grapefruit. Remains to be seen what today's fare will be. I didn't get in any exercise yesterday. I thought about riding my bike into work today, but it's supposed to rain, and I've got my laptop with me at home and it just seemed like a logistical nightmare, so I hope I can figure something else out.

LLBoldAsLove - I may have to try that recipe!

Lindsey - Yay! New low! Congrats!

Dimples - Yikes on that trip. I had a friend travelling at about the same time and it sounds hairy!

Lauren - Ambitious but doable plan.

Jen - You'll feel better soon. :)

surfer - Wow, you are active!

vixsen - I have a friend who uses the tag vix online, so it's funny to me to see it here!

pint - Hugs.

love2b150 - Yay!!!

k9 - I was thinking about this too. The first time I lost weight, was in the mid-90s, and I wasn't counting calories, just eating less, moving more (and I was in my early 20s, so that was enough), but I think it would have been nearly impossible for me to do what I'm doing now back then.

Larry - You can make your own with oil, vinegar and spices. It's not low fat, but its not the saturated fat that you need to worry about. I also make a mustard dressing with good quality brown mustard, vinegar and oil. If you're only eating 1000 calories a day, it looks like you may have room for some oil.

Stacy - sometimes you need to do that. And if its the first time since August, I'd say you deserved it.

Diana - Mmmm, sirloin. :)

Berry - Yay, strength :D

GainingWeightinLa - I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep up with the personals. This is hard! And congrats on the new low!

Belmagick - :carrot:

Hope I didn't leave anyone out!

Good Morning, Everyone! Happy Hump Day! We are half way to the weekend! I start counting on Monday! ;) :D

Tonight I have a hair appointment and we will eat at my favorite Japanese restaurant. Wish me luck with the evil sodium!

belmagick Hi and Welcome! That's a great NSV!

zoodoo613 Congrats on the scale moving down!

Berry Did you ever see my post about the free online step workout? I did it again on Sunday and loved it. I actually ordered the DVD from her. It is 3 workouts on 1 DVD for $9.95, with free shipping. I think the intro price has ended, but the price/workout is great. http://www.jennyford.com/?p=40

Stacy, you needed that splurge, my friend! I am glad you did it and am glad you felt good about it. I am here to tell you that you are getting right back on plan today and getting in an awesome workout, AND drinking more than your fair share of water today to combat that sodium gain on the scale. You will see a new low soon. I have always wondered if you are eating enough, listening to you talk about how hard you workout. Something for you to think about, and maybe talk to your trainer about? What is your calorie goal currently?

Morning everyone... Gotta rush as we're leaving in a bit to go to a park to walk. This morning I got down to my previous all time low. (So, that's down .8 from yesterday). Hopefully the taco seasoning is about out of my system. My husband is up two pounds from the stuff! (he ate it one more day than I did).

Have a great day everyone!

My scale was up a little today, boy am I bouncy this week! Not sure if I will show a loss or not. I have got to keep my hand out of that pretzel bag! Those are definately not on my meal plan, they have no nutritional value, yet I keep munching on them, grrrr. I was very hungry yesterday while I was making dinner, I have to find a solution for that time of day. I think my meal timing is off this week, I have to look at that.
Got in a walk yesterday, but that was it, 45 minutes, but I broke a good sweat, so it was something. Didn't log my calories (bad!) and drank my minimum water (needed more with those damn pretzels).
Today: elliptical and some arm weights. Drink more than yesterday. Log my food (NO pretzels!). Simple right? Feeling a little lax about things, need to tighten my focus. Feeling dreary today, cold and rainy, quiet house, I could just sleep all day. BUT, I have some major calories to burn, so I need to get off this computer, off my butt, and go burn them!!!!!! Someone kick me in the butt please!

Morning Everyone!

Feeling quite tired today...still having TOM and still wanting to eat a million things.

So last night was the real test. Found out SO is having dinner tonight with an ex from a couple years ago. I knew they had been talking and wanting to be friends so I did get upset (didn't freak out though), but I just cried a little and asked for it to be explained to me...that I didn't want to get into everything but just wanted to understand it better. So I think it'll be okay. I feel kind of crappy about it though. I have a few exes that I want to be friends with too...so I guess this is okay. Good thing I have therapy tonight so I can talk about it. LOL :?::?:

___________

k9 - wow! That's amazing that you carry a cooler with you. Glad you are gonna try some new things. I can't believe how cheap your zumba classes are. I think here they are around $200 for a 10 class card so that's $20 per class!

Lindsey - What's going on with your back? Sorry it's hurting you. Hope you feel better soon!!

Larry - Walden Farms has some salad dressings that have no calories, no fat, no carbs, no nothing basically. They taste pretty good.

LL- MMM...that recipe sounds delicious! I think I'll give it a try.

Stacy - I'm glad you enjoyed your pizza buffet last night and are okay with it! Sometimes we all need that! Now, you must get right back on plan today!!! :D:D

Diana - I think the pills are def working. I didn't explode...I didn't freak out. I cried a little bit just because I was a little surprised but I got over it pretty quickly. I am feeling a little weepy but not like I usually am. But I normally feel like a basket case so this is definitely an improvement.

Hi everyone. I'm feeling totally blaaaaahhhhh today. No motivation, tired, sore, cranky... I could sit at home and revel in my blahhness, or I can hit the treadmill. I would hit our trail, but it was 72 at 8am this morning and HUUUUUUUUUUMID. Plus, my DD had an allergic reaction to sunscreen, so she can't wear any until I find one that doesn't break her out in hives. She's way too fair skinned to go without.

Time to call my workout buddy.

Oh, and fyi, when you are trying to make hot chocolate out of protein powder, here are a couple of things to keep in mind: If you dump boiling/hot water directly onto the powder, it turns into super gross clumpy styrofoam stuff. Instead, mix it with cold water and THEN heat it up in the microwave. I also added a packet of diet hot chocolate mix. Also, coffee mugs and extreme temp changes don't really go. I poured cold water into the coffee mug I had just rinsed the boiling styrofoam stuff out of, and CRACK!!! It sent me running, fearing exploding glass.

Also, my dog ate plant fertilizer today.:mad::mad::mad:

Wow, pint....sounds like your day's off to a lovely start. :( Hope it gets better. If it makes you feel any better, my son came in at 8:45 last night and tells me he has to have 12 plastic eggs filled with candy for school TODAY. I had to get my butt back dressed, go to the store, get the stuff (got enough to go ahead and do DD's since she has to take hers Thursday)....then I had to come home and STUFF them little suckers. I was up til 12:15 this morning. I SOOOO did not wanna get up at 6:30.

Edit: I just realized that my signature is messed up. :( :( :( Got no time to fix it now, so guess I'll do it later.....lol

Weight is holding steady at 154 lbs. No surprise there because I have not been really watching my eating. I need to do better this week. My goal of 148 by the end of this month is totally unreachable.

I should be able to meet my 80 mile walking goal though :)

Larry, you sound well!! -- My girlfriend is still in tremendous amount of pain and having some complications now 3 weeks later. I am so happy for you!!!

I am making lemon-rice-chicken soup. -- It is low in calories and I love that stuff. -- I am trying to stay at 1500 calories for the day :)

Diana,

You are so right about my friend. She was the first person I got to know after I moved to US in 1990. We have been best friends for 21 years. She was around 300 pounds when I met her. She slimmed down to 250 pounds at some point, but today she is the heaviest she has ever been. -- I just love her so much, and I am really scared for her. -- I wish I could motivate her somehow. She is having all sorts of health problems, because of the weight. -- I just feel she has "given up" what comes to her body. --

Her younger daughter is taking about marriage to her long time boyfriend; maybe a grandbaby would motivate her.

YUM!!!!! :D

OMG my internet was down for the last few hours, you'd think someone stole my treadmill or my coffee or something. I was desparate for a fix, so the last few posts were from my phone  I guess you guys keep me going more than I realize!
Diana3271, I will think of you when I get the snackies today and I WILL be reaching for some veggies. I made myself a promise no pretzels and I will stick to it. Thanks for the suggestions. Never tried snacking on lettuce, but I may like that.
DianaLa, being dizzy sucks, hope you are laying low today. Call your doctor, you will get under 200 either way, don't sacrifice your health for it. Great job on your weigh in too!
Lindsey, those sound too good to be true! I am with Diana, I don't eat much soy either except in a salad dressing once in a while. Hard to avoid the stuff, I think it is kind of like high fructose corn syrup, it is cheap so they put it in everything.
Andejean, that is the infection from ****! You are doing the right thing, rest up and let your body do its job.
Surfergirl, stick to it, the scale will move. For some of us, it is not daily, but over time that we see losses.
Sum, you are doing awesome. That is a lot of miles this month! I'm sorry the scale isn't responding to your efforts, but I know you must be in much better shape, even if the pounds aren't moving. Have you measured yourself? That soup sounds amazing, especially with the weather today!
Lauren, I love a big breakfast too, but i have to sacrifice a snack and usually a lunch to have it.
Pint, hope the rest of your day has been better than the morning!

I've had 714 calories today so far....still can have 384 (according to livestrong.com). I went over by 32 calories yesterday. What a joke, huh?!?! :D 32 measly calories. Not sure what I'm gonna do for supper.....I want to watch sodium, though since I'm unofficially officially (?) not taking the fluid pill anymore. BTW diana3271, I go to dr. tomorrow at 2 pm. I'm very curious to hear what she has to say. First time I've been to Dr. since I began this journey (this time) in January. I'm really curious about what info she offers about my BP. I've actually been very emotional about getting off the meds today...almost cried SEVERAL times (well, because of that AND DD's possibility of A.D.D.--we have paperwork for testing now.) I know it sounds silly to be emotional about coming off the meds, but I'm really messed up about what it's gonna do to my loss on the scales and that nagging swelling feeling that I know will be inevitable. :( :( :( It's just generally been a very emotional day for me. Hoping tomorrow will be a better day. :D

Edit: Okay I just checked livestrong for how much sodium I've had today. DEFINITELY NOT GREAT for my first day without fluid pill. 2320 mg (SO FAR....still have supper to go)....that's 176% of my daily allowance. :yikes: I'm gonna have to be a LOT more careful!!

DianaLA: If I were you I'd get to the doc ASAP to get that fixed. Water weight is water weight. Don't get fixed on a number on a scale when your health is at risk. :(

Berry: Congrats on the loss!!

Andejean: Get better soon!

I love all the support and "chat" here.

*****************

My day improved vastly. After walking to my friend's house, and then to the gym, I did 40 minutes of walking on a treadmill. It had a "9 holes" setting, where it randomly increased or decreased the incline, and I did it twice on a 3.8mph setting. After that, we walked back to her house and did P90X and the Ab Ripper X. I seriously don't know if I'm going to be able to get out of bed, tomorrow, LOL!!!

I made the mistake of substituting the protein shake/diet chocolate thing for breakfast, and by the time my workout was finished and lunch rolled in I was STARVING. Stomach growling, shaky, irritated HUNGRY. I got a 12 inch turkey sub from Subway (no cheese) and ate it ALL. :o

So because of that, I just about went over my calories for the day. I came in at 1496. Again, I'm doing my best to over estimate to make up for inaccuracies. I'd rather over estimate than under...

1072 calories today but the sodium was 5728 :mad::o

I have not paid a lot of attention to sodium in the past but my heart sugery has changed all that. It seems like all my low fat and low cal foods are sky high in sodium. The reverse seems to be also true if a food is very low sodium it seems to be sky high in fat and calories.

I need to find out how to get all three nutrients low including low cholesteral while at the same time increasing my protein :carrot: Well no one told me this would be easy:D

My scale was 2 pounds higher this morning and I am sure that it was because of the high sodium I had yesterday. My calories were low yesterday.

Larry, I have the same problem, something is always out of whack with my food. If I try to lower one thing, another goes up :dizzy:. I am no doctor, but I think sodium is more important to pay attention to right now. Stay away from canned, boxed and processed foods. Try to eat more fresh foods. You could probably go to see a dietician, I think insurance would pay for that, if you haven't done so already. Just keep persisting and you will get a feel for what you should and should not eat. Also, could you try entering your food in ahead of time so you won't be surprised? That way if something shows up as being very high in sodium, you could maybe choose an alternative. Just a thought even though I am guilty entering my foods in after I eat them too  Good luck!

Ok I bought new hand weights the other day. I'm about to go use them. Hope it doesnt kill me. Me and upper body strength is pretty pathetic. I've walked a lot today, but I can't ignore my arms, back, shoulders, etc. Guess I'll throw in a few planks too.

Skipped the planks, but now I can barely get my arms to work to type on the computer. 20 minutes of weights on the upper body is ENOUGH for this gal!

Hi Everyone!

Berry There has been a lot of controversy over soy. Some people say that it has negative effects on the thyroid. I think a lot of the soy in the US is GMO. There's controversy over that, too. For me and my history with thyroid issues, it's not worth it. I gain weight very easily so I just choose to avoid it. At one of my Endo appointments, the Dr. misunderstood me and thought I was converting to vegetarianism. She was very concerned with this decision and informed me that she would probably have to eventually increase my thyroid medicine. I let her know that I was not doing that. She was very relieved. She knows my history of weight gain. Based on this brief conversation with her, I think she has issues with soy and thyroid patients. I don't need anything to do any additional damage to my thyroid. :dunno:

Lindsey I've heard of that type of noodles and seen them in the grocery store. I have not heard of that particular brand, though. The brands that I have specifically seen are made from soy.

morethananumber, I LOVE your avatar pic!!! THAT is COOL!!!

Larry, I agree with jomatho...FRESH is best. Canned is worse, but better than boxed or processed. For supper I sauteed asparagus in olive oil w/seasonings (garlic and other spices and some lite salt) and had some strawberries and cantaloupe. It was DELICIOUS!! I haven't checked my sodium (forgot to when I tracked supper), but my calories for today are only 35 over my 1098 that livestrong tells me I need to be at. I can certainly live with that. :D I'll be curious to see the scales tomorrow morning. I saw a new low this morning....202.8. I'm sure I won't be seeing that number again for quite a while. :( :( :( Figure I'll be up a couple tomorrow from the sodium. I told DH last night now would be a GREAT time to start really focusing on toning....I mean if the scales are gonna stall out ANYWAY, I might as well tone too, which will stall 'em, too. :D :D :D

Hi friends... did you miss me today? I was so busy and so were all of you... too much to catch up with everyone...

Thanks for your comments about my pizza binge, Jo. My trainer thinks I need more calories- but NOT carbs. My goal is 1500 calories. He thinks I need more based on how much I work out but he wants it in protein. I just can't eat any more protein. I worked out twice today and I think my weight will be back to normal tomorrow or Friday.

Berry- I HATE planks! I would rather do 50 inclined situps with a medicine ball then 1 30 second plank! YUCK!

Whew... I just barely made it through a very tough night. I was still hungry after dinner, despite eating 2 servings of spaghetti with home made marinara sauce, to the point where my stomach is growling. I made some tea, didn't help. I drank lots of water, didn't help. Then DH made a PIZZA at 10:30pm. The smell alone was driving me nuts, even the pepperoni smelled good and I HATE pepperoni!!!

However, DH ate all of the pizza (it was one of those "personal" 2 serving pizzas) and now it's bedtime, so I scraped by.

Tomorrow breakfast WILL happen. It has to. I cannot spend another day feeling this hungry. :dizzy:

I'm hoping to see a loss tomorrow. Somehow, I bounced back up to 160lbs overnight last night. :o

Hi, everybody! I've missed you all! I've been a 3FC slacker this week, as my boss scheduled me a 40 hour workweek this week and I've had lots of orders on Etsy to fill. So between my jobs, trying to get some sleep, my little dude, and trying to fit in the gym, its been nuts! I'll catch up, hopefully tomorrow.

I'm still trying to bust my plateau/stall. Still holding at 175, with some morning weigh ins of 174 and one weigh in at 176. I'm definitely gaining muscle, as I can see/feel it. This week I upped my caloric intake to my RMR to see if maybe my body was feeling a bit starved. I'm having trouble fitting in 1500 calories of good food! It just feels like a ton. I did very well today- normal breakfast, fiber one bar for snack, school nachos for lunch (sodium laden, I'm sure :( ) a handful of nuts after work, and chicken and a ton of broccoli (and a piece of garlic bread) for dinner. 1500 calories. Then 45 min incline walking and interval running. Felt very good. Hopefully the scale is kind in the AM.

Anything else I can do to shake it up and break this stall?

Take care and I'll actually catch up with everyone tomorrow!!

PERSONALS

NOVEL: WoW $20/class? I would join the gym instead. That's insane to me.

PINT: One of my weaknesses is pizza and DH has had it 2x in a week. The first time, he left 1/2 of a large Little Caesar's pizza on the "eye level" shelf of the fridge, then Monday night, he left 3 slices of a boxed buffalo chicken pizza conveniently on the stovetop "for me". I said, "Honey, I love u and all, but if u ever leave pizza out again, we will have intense verbal fellowship that will NOT be enjoyable to your ears!"

Stacygee:  at your decision of pizza binge! I have soooo done this before at Cici's, then questioned the rationale behind my poor judgment when I left b/c I felt soooo bloated!! It is incredibly interesting to me that we can work so hard for a whole week and squeeze a 1, 1.5, or 2 lb loss for 7 full days of consistency and devoted exercise--then in 1 MEAL, gain 3 lbs!! AMAZING REALLY!! :dizzy:

Diana32: Even being a nurse, I was unaware of the soy/hypothyroid relation. I remember before going into the heart failure specialty, I minored in post-operative care, mostly GI surgeries, but we would have the occasional thyroidectomy and even then, I don't recall an Endocrinologist ever correlating the two in a convo to me! INTERESTING!!

MELISSA: :bravo: on the hand weights!! I was thinking of purchasing some 3lb or 4 lb ones to use on a couple songs at Zumba. I'll keep you posted on that. I tend to continue to wave with my arms long after my hand has stopped  I HATE that!! BTW, I found I am learning so many NEW things from this site--imagine that!! What is a "plank"?

LARRY:  what a difference a day can make in your life!! I read on another thread at 3FC a very interesting mind game. I'll try to recapture the important perspective: We have eaten our way over the years to our present status (health and weight wise). When we try to introduce a new way of thinking into our mind, we automatically subconsciously think "EWWE, I can no longer have my fave things, instead I HAVE to eat this..YUCK" :barf:
The foods we have given in to consuming have made us the unhealthy beings we are at present and in order to positively make changes for the betterment of ourselves, we must be mindful that maintenance of the MIND is necessary! When I was a student in the couch to 5K program (before becoming a coach), one of our coaches encouraged us to chant many many times a day "I AM A STRONG FIT RUNNER, I PRACTICE 3X/WEEK". With the development of a power-walking group, he would change the words to say: "I AM A STRONG FIT WALKER, I PRACTICE 3X/WEEK". You could tell the active participants of this strategy each week during our meets; full of passion, energy, and confidence as we struck the pavement with our sneakers, b/c the mindset from the first week "I can't walk a mile, much less RUN one!" turned into "I AM A STRONG FIT RUNNER/WALKER, I PRACTICE 3X/WEEK" By week 10, these participants were crossing the finish line at their first-ever 5K race!! What an accomplishment from "I can't walk a mile..."
:grouphug: We're here for you, friend :)

LINDS: :congrat: on the new low!!! WTG This :dancer: is celebrating WITH you!!

DIANA, LA: What an AWESOME thing to not have the added "joy" of NOT having to rely on Western medicine! I may medicate many people with many differnt Rx, but for the most part, I can't stand them! And, if I had to ingest many different flavors of candy to keep my body functioning as some of my patients do, I think I'd opt for death! Such an encouraging event for u :congrat:

Good morning everyone!

Erica, :welcome: This is a great place to come to be accountable! Good luck, your plan sounds good!

K9, I lol about your arms waving even after your hand has stopped  Your posts crack me up!

Still, maybe not a stall, maybe just your body adjusting like you said. Keep doing your workouts and eating on your plan, it will happen. Plus, you are probably adjusting to your new meds right?

Pint, you too are probably seeing the effects of adding in lots of new strengthening exercises. Sore muscles hold water. Are you trying to drink lots? Also, some days when I am particularly sore, I have a day of nice and easy exercise like a moderate walk, just to work the muscles and warm them up, trying to get them to leg go of water. Seems to work for me. Either way, that scale will move because you are doing amazing with your workouts.

Stacy, I missed you!!! I figured you were being a gym rat. What about nuts? Do you eat them? That would be a good way to get more calories/protien without a lot of carbs. Or natural PB?

Berry/Diana, I have read the same things about soy. I also have a friend that goes to a naturopath/homeopath and he warned her that she needed to stop drinking soy milk or she would ruin her thyroid. Guess what? She is now on thyroid meds for hypothyroid. Not sure if it is related, but I don't want to take that chance. I figure I had enough soy in the school hamburgers I ate growing up to last me a lifetime  It's an interesting subject, just google it for anyone interested, there are definately people on both sides of the opinion.

****************
AFM: This morning I was 1.8 pounds down from my 'blip up' yesterday to a new low of 195. I was hoping to break the 195 mark, but I will take it. That means I have now lost 35 pounds and have 50 to go. More than a third of the way there. :woohoo: I was looking at my excel spreadsheet this morning and I have lost a good amount of weight the last 3-4 weeks, but a lot of it has been the same weight over again. I started the month at 197.2, but was up over 200 at one point due to water gain/vacation and such. Won't be a great month for me overall, but at least I may show a loss. I should probably hope for 4 pounds total this month, that would average 1# per week and I would be happy with that for a whacky April. Who wants to have a super focused May with me? Like 31 days of on-plan goodness? First I need to finish this month strong. . . . .
Today's plan: workout is unsure, have to take DS to Orthodontist this morning so I may go out for a walk later. Eating is planned up until dinner, but I will shoot for 1500 cals and high water intake today.

K9Owner,

I love your attitude and support because it matches my own. I learned many years ago about the power of my mind and positive affirmations. When in the hospital people would ask how I am and I would reply "OUTSTANDING BUT THAT IS OK BECAUSE IT IS GETTING BETTER" This of course always left them puzzeled after all here is a guy facing serious surgery. They did not realize that back in the mid 1970's I met a very smart man who told me "Larry you can start your day anyway that you decide to" I did not know I could decide that before then, I was always a victim of circumstance you see. I decided to start my day at the outstanding level and work up from there and I discovered that I could do this regardless of outside circumstances. The hopital provided literature about cardiac surgery and it said many people get angry, become depressed or both. I showed it to my wife and said they sure don't know me do they honey? She agreed.

I do not get depressed :carrot: I tried it back in the seventy's and I did not like it so I made a decision not to get that way. Anger is something I avoid because except on rare occasion it serves do useful purpose and it damages the container (ME). So here I am being wheeled down for surgury and I am peaceful and content. Why? Because I decided to be and I have a great faith in a Loving God. Whatever God wants the outcome for me is OK

Another decision I made is that I would heal and recover fast, so I did. Part of this involved making the decision to follow directions from the doctors and the nurses. An example of this was pain medication. I am one of those who is blessed with a high tolerance to pain and my inclination would be to turn down any offer of pain medication. They explained to me that my body would heal faster if it was relatively pain free so I accepted the meds and I healed fast. Another item was the breathing exercise machine. I was told it was important to exercise my lungs every hour so I did. As a result I could max the exerciser out two days after open heart surgery all because of a decision and positive affirmations.

I was sent home 4 days after surgery feeling great with clear lungs, good lung function, pain free and walking without a walker. I was constantly told by the doctors and nurses that this is a bit unusual at least. The cardiologist simply shook my hand and said you are amazing!!:D what a great attitude!!

Now I am home and learning some new skills about dieting. never paid much attention to sodium , protein and cholesterol before. I just concentrated on calories and fats. I find it is a little bit like trying to herd cats (LOL):D but I am confident that I can do this. Why? Because I have decided that I can.
Like any new habit, first you decide you can do it and then you practice doing it untill you become proficient and it becomes a habit. I am in the learning stage right now but I am confident that I can do this.

Exercise; I have some pretty severe and advanced osteoarthritis in both hips and both knees but prior to surgery I was tolerating, nope wrong word, enjoying 3-4 mile walks and 3-4 mile bicycle rides on my old fashioned bicycle.

My surgeon discharged me with instructions to walk as tolerated. My definition of that is to resume the 3-4 mile walks. My loving wife has been living in total panic since I entered the hopital. Her definition of this is that I should not leave the house. Obviously the correct answer lies somewhere between those two extremes. I have a followup appointment with my cardiologist this afternoon and I have asked my wife to come into the exam room with me where I will ask the doctor for his instruction on walking. Then I will be satisfied with the answer and I will follow his directions.

Last, I have kept a great sense of humor and I dispense it freely. :D:D:D

Hi everyone!

Sorry, I've been MIA. This newest virus has taken hold of our house and everyone is hacking away. We've had a few doctor appointments and since a few of my children have asthma issues, we have lots of inhalers and medication going around. My eldest has been home from school all week. Today, is her first day back.

****WARNING: RANT AHEAD****

Needless to say, I've been running on survival mode. I'm completely and utterly exhausted. Dh doesn't get up with the kids in the middle of the night, so I do all of that. This morning we had a bit of an argument, because he'll wake up in the morning and complain how terribly he slept and how terrible he feels. I'M the one that is running on 3-4 hours of interrupted sleep a night, because I get up with the children while HE sleeps. I get up and snuggle sick children and wipe away their tears. When I ask him why he didn't sleep well, he'll respond with "I don't know. I just feel like crap.". I ask him if he was up at all in the middle of the night and he says "No.". So, in the mornings, I'm dealing with lack of sleep, a dh who won't get out of bed until the last minute and kids who are sick and others that need to go to school.

Seriously, I've had it this morning. I feel bad for venting on y'all, but I'm tired, fighting this darn bug myself and just fed up. I'm so annoyed with my dh. I tried explaining how hard it is for me to hear that he's too exhausted to get up in the mornings when I've been up all night and I get the sarcastic "Oh, SURE. You're the only one who can be tired in the mornings. I'm sorry. I forgot.". Ok, buddy. I'll trade places with you and THEN see how you feel. I don't even think he knows what exhausted feels like.

I should mention that this has been an ongoing problem with him. We even had him go to a sleep clinic to see if he's been having any issues that way. He does sleep with a C-PAP and though the doctors say that he's getting good rest, he disagrees. It could be because he doesn't go to bed until after midnight, but he says he's a night owl.

Gah, I'm sorry. I hate complaining about my dh. I'm just overtired and don't know what to do. If I keep trying to handle it all by myself, I'm going to burn out. We have no family that I can lean on for support and really no friends either. (hence all my previous comments about wanting to move) Anyway, forgive the rant. :^:

Exercise and calorie counting has been on the backburner with everything on my plate. I'm experienced enough with calorie counting to know what to stick to and I've (mostly) behaved. I know I've stayed within my limits. Up 1lb this morning, but as I was up with sick children, I expected it.

Pint: I totally get that rough night! I’ve had those too. You held out while your husband tortured you! Great job! I woke up at 5AM with my tummy growling I was so hungry for breakfast… I had to have a conversation with myself to NOT eat breakfast yet… that would throw my whole day off. Hope you see that loss!

Still: You have been quiet this week. What do you seel on Etsy? What about cutting out some carbs to see if that breaks the plateau? I think you would see a difference even from 1-2 days of ultra low carb intake.

K9- Thanks for the support about my pizza binge. I felt so good after it that it scared me! I thought it might send me to my old ways… but I had a perfect day yesterday and was even surrounded by temptations…so NO OLD WAYS for me! It is silly that we struggle so much to lose one pound but gaining from one meal is SO EASY. I think I will be back to 178 tomorrow. So it is taking 72 hours to recuperate from that one meal. I might NEVER do that again!

Erica: Glad you found us. Just jump right in with sharing your story. This is a great place to come for support, suggestions, companionship, accountability… or just to keep your fingers busy when you really want to raid the pantry!

Diana: Did you start this thread… I don’t mean this week I mean when did this continuous thread start and did you start it? Who has been posting in here the longest? You are always so sweet on all your posts… I bet people visit you just to get a smile from you.

Jo: I was so busy yesterday. I worked out in the early AM then drove 1 hour to Houston to visitt my sick friend. Came home and took the girls to visit my mom and then my older one had dance and I went back to the gym for a little extra… then home. WHEW. I was gone ALL DAY… but it was delightful because I had maid service while I was gone…so I came home to a sparkly clean, smell good house! I added hummus last week for snacks. I eat cashews on my salad but don’t want to add anymore nuts b/c of the carbs and calories. I do allow myseld a T of peanut butter… again no more b/c of the calories. Keep coming with the suggestions… ya’ll reminded me of hummus and taught me to switch to Greek Yogurt… YAH for you for being down! Your progress is great especially considering you were on vacation! Congratulations! Please let me be super focused with you in May. I really need to get down in May as I am going on vacation the first week of June. Is 1500 always your calorie goal? We could even help each other with menu plans if it is. Oh- do you limit your carbs?

Larry: I wanted to tell you that I thought of you a bunch on Saturday… I worked about 3 hours in my yard. Of course my yard is an empty canvas- but the work I did was needed. I’ll have to post a pic of my yard so you will see what I mean. My friends call it “the field” 2 acres of cleared land and not a bush in sight. I was working on some dead grass patches, raking up the dead so hopefully the good grass will spread. I may go buy some sod this weekend… if I think I can keep it watered.

Shells: I am sorry you are having a hard time. If it helps any… I have almost IDENTICAL issues here. My husband is a TERRIBLE sleeper and complains and stays in bed EVERY morning… while I do ALL of the childcare. We love our husbands for other reasons and I chose to ignore the bad habits. I hope you can get your gets recovered and get some rest for yourself. I know you deserve it!

Larry I totally LOVE your attitude and agree with it 100%. I hope your appointment goes well today.

Shells Vent away! I am sorry that you are going through all of that. DH and I don't have any children, by choice. If we did, I know they would be my responsibility. We do have Magnum, though. It's a similar situation with him. This morning Magnum got sick. (I think it's from the prescription fish oil capsules.) I could see it coming on and ran him outside. I had the stove on and asked DH to turn it off until I came back in. I turned and he was still sitting. On the way out the door I yelled "get off you a$$ and move!" I didn't want my breakfast to burn. I came back in the house and DH is gagging! The idea of Magnum getting sick made DH gag! :dunno: He could never change a baby diaper! He can look at a baby with a snotty nose and start gagging! Even with Magnum he doesn't pick up on the clues that he's going to be sick. He thinks too slow and moves to slow. :dunno:

ETA: TTOM started this morning. That's why the above comment to DH came out without thinking. Better go find some PMS pills since DH and I work together. It might be a long day.

Mornin' everyone!

I just don't know how all of you do personals, 'cause I just don't think I can keep up! I'll try to get some in later.

The scale is continuing it's creep downward, and I'm back to where I was last week. My calories yesterday were 1650, on the high side, mostly because of the ENORMOUS PIECE OF CAKE I ate. It was the bosses birthday, and I don't really feel bad about the cake, but I wish I'd taken back the piece handed to me for a smaller one. I will say this about it though: it kept me full. I had a smaller dinner to partially compensate, although I'm never sure that's such a good idea, to trade crap calories for healthy food.

We have a small gym in the basement at work and I went and walked on the treadmill for a bit at lunchtime. We're having such gloomy weather, it's hard to get outside, my preference. I couldn't walk very long because I get so sweaty, and I was just in my work clothes. I brought some clothes to change into and I'm thinking I'll go after work. Let y'all know how that goes!

Welcome Erica; be warned we are addicting

Jo awesome

Shells My husband is the same way... :( He will stay up REALLY late and then "drag" himself out of bed and act all miserable.... I get ticked off because I go to bed early... If we fight over anything; it is over sleep. -- My kids are older, so they don't need as much attention when they are sick, but I HATE it when my hubby comes in around 1 am or 2 am...he wakes me up each time, and at that point I can't go back to sleep. -- I call it musical beds, because I end up leaving because I am wide awake. -- Hubby traveled when kids were babies and young; I almost liked it that way, atleast I did not need to worry about him. -- I hope your babies will get better soon!!

Stacy How was your weight this am? -- I have been binging for the past few weeks...somehow I can not stop. And scale shows it. :( I think I will try to cut the cycle and have a few shake days. It always cures my eating. -- Not saying you are binging, 'cause you are a super woman what comes to self control :) :)

Stacy I joined the original thread in November 2009. It was called Daily food & exercise confessions. I think they were on their second thread at that time. I continued posting in that thread, but the original people were dropping out and not posting. Me and a friend didn't like the "confessions" name. People would drop in and "confess" about all of their bad food choices and binges they had that day. We decided to change the name to what it is now and start a new thread. That was March, 2010. Jendiet was also a poster in the original "Confessions" thread. This check-in and my weight check-in have been a very important part of any and all success that I have had in my weight loss journey.

Stacy,

An empty canvas is much easier to paint a beautiful picture on than one that is already covered in paint. 2 acres of cleared land gives you endless possibilities :D I would love to see progress pictures. The doctors told me no yard work for at least six weeks. Yikes!! I will have withdrawal symptoms:D

Thanks Stacy and Diana. For a while, it used to really irk me that he wouldn't get up in the middle of the night with the children. We had HUGE fights over it. Part of the problem was that he sleeps so deeply, I can't wake him. He could have a siren going off near his head and he'd sleep through it. Finally, I realized I was going to have to let it go. It was one of those things that I was willing to sacrifice for our relationship. I wake up super easily, so it only makes sense that I take care of the nighttime childcare.

This complaining about being so tired that he can't even get out of bed in the morning, when I have huge dark circles under my eyes and can barely form a coherent sentence from the lack of sleep...I don't think so. :nono: I'm so tired, I get angry. And I hate getting that way. I want to feel in control and put together. For the sake of our relationship, there are so many things I've "just let go". The whole moving thing, for one. Life is tough and sometimes we need to get out of bed whether we feel like it or not. I can't be the only one constantly giving in.

Ugh, I'm sorry guys. I'm not usually this witchy. Like I said, I hate complaining about my dh, but I do need some advice and have no one else to turn to. Am I being unreasonable? Do I just get over it? And, if I go down that road, how do I cope with the constant sleep deprivation? I'm not asking him to get up with the kids during the night, I can handle that. I just need some help in the mornings that I do have a rough night. That can't be such a terrible request?

Shells Maybe when things get better you can sit down and have a heart to heart with him. I don't think it would make a difference with my DH. I also hate complaining about him because he is a good guy and has his good points. We are self employed. He opens the shop while I come in later so I can clean the house. The house is totally my responsibility. Years ago, I had had enough trying to do everything in the house, go to school part time, and get to work between 8-9 AM. I demanded his help and I was not going to clean until I got it. I didn't clean the house for 6 months! I got no help. We discussed it. He grew up with a housekeeper  He suggested that I hire someone to clean the house. Since then, I do the daily stuff and every 2 weeks we have a cleaning company to come in. He doesn't want to help and is too tired to do any more. Sometimes we don't get home until 9 PM from work and he doesn't want me to be running around trying to do housework. That's another reason we eat out so much. We spend a lot of money on these things, but he would rather work and make the extra money than cook and clean. :dunno: Anyways, my DH didn't budge on any of these issues. Maybe you could have a talk with your DH when things calm down some.

zoodoo- get what exercise in that you can! It really helps!

Sum: I was at 180.4 this morning. Down from yesterday- but still up from my pizza buffet. I am feeling VERY bloated in my belly today... hopefully 2 hours at the gym this morning will fix that. I think my body really needed that big meal. I hope that doesn't sound like an excuse but I had been pretty unsatisfied with my food and was finding myself grazing. It helped me to get back some self control to leave it at the door for a meal. BUT it is very frustrating to be up on the scale... VERY!

diana: Thanks for sharing the creation story. This thread has been very important to me too. Thank you for carrying it on. I like the accountability better, too. I can imagine there were a lot of drop-ins when it was confessions!
I didn't know jendiet was an original poster in here, too. COOl!

Larry: I am sorry you aren't going to be working in the yard. I know you enjoy it. You'll be back at it in no-time at the rate you recover!

Shells: I know it is frustrating. We shouldn't have to ask for the help... I wish I could be there with you right now helping you out! I SO KNOW the exact feelings you are having right now! We sound a lot a like.

Larry, your post made me cry and laugh......literally, both extremes. I think you may be my hero! YOU are SUCH an inspiration! I am so proud of the progress you have made. Even when I'm not on the thread, you inspire me, as it seems you tend to be on everyone's minds a lot. I think I'm safe in saying that you pretty much inspire us all. :grouphug:

Well, I'm in TOTAL shock this morning.....last night when I went to bed, I was up from my morning weigh in of 202.8 (new low) to 206.2. I attributed it to my first day off my fluid pill. THIS morning--202.4 (still in my pj's. 203.0 dressed) ANOTHER new low? How can that be just coming off of my fluid pill?!?! Maybe the water weight just hasn't caught up with me yet. I bet my DH last night $100 that I'd have a gain this week (this coming Tuesday) at my WW weigh in. He bet that I'd either maintain or lose. I hope I owe him $100 on Tuesday. :D

Gotta hair appt at 10 a.m. Need to go get ready. :welcome2: New folks!! BBL!! :) :) :)

Still Phew - what a tough week! But don't get discouraged (easier said than done). You also don't know what's going on with your thyroid, so once that is all back to normal, you'll see more of a loss... If you weren't being so diligent, you could be gaining!

shellsbrood You rant away. I know you love your husband, but that doesn't mean he can't be a pain in the arse at times. And really, I think there's just something about men and being babies themselves. But this too will pass as it's from exhaustion for all of you. I hope this virus passes QUICKLY!

Diana3271 Interesting about soy. I don't eat much of it and I do know from others that it can be 'iffy' in beneficial for many people. I guess with so much, moderation is the key.

Diana in LA Please don't stress about losing the water pill. Actually, you should be THRILLED that you are getting to a healthier spot that you can take care of your body WITHOUT medications. And if the scale goes up, that means those pounds you lost weren't fat, but water your bodied needed. And don't be so sure you'll get all swollen. I used to and now I don't. Your heart is working better at this lower weight. Have faith that this will actually make you feel better!

LarryH Good luck with your appointment today. Sounds like a great recovery and yes, having your wife with you in the appt. might ease her fears too. Sometimes being the bystander is more difficult than for the one going through it.

K9Owner Glad you liked the hummus. I prefer plain hummus, or a bit of olive oil drizzled over top and I eat it with baby carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and scallions. So yummy! My husband and son like the roasted red pepper the best. I tend to avoid the new 'gourmet' flavors as it masks the real hummus flavor, which I enjoy.

Roadbikerchick Now why were you laughing when I said you sounded like a good mother in law? Do the kidlets disagree? Hope you have a great day! (BTW, you look too young to be a mother in law!)

Stacygee I worry about your trainer recommending you increase your protein. Too much protein is hard on teh kidneys. I would up the healthy fats if anything to up the calories - like olive oils, avocado, nuts. Fats are easier on the body to digest and process.

Jomatho Congrats on your new low! We're both at 35 lbs lost today!

Lindseylou didn't get a chance to congratulate you on your new low yesterday! Look at you go!!!

Zoodoo13Yay on getting back to your original low of last week. Sorry about the cake snaffu, but it's one piece of cake and now you can move on! Good luck with basement workout.

Breanne I hope you are feeling better today!

Pint your husband and his late night eating - UGH!!!! It's making me thankful right now for my health conscious husband. Good job on sticking with it though!

Sum Sorry you are having the binge attacks. Can you pinpoint what's causing it?

VixsinHope your big whoosh from yesterday stuck!

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm feeling pretty good today. TOM is almost gone and I was down 3 lbs today to 181.6 which is not really a new low but my pre-TOM low...but basically I've been at the same weight since the end of March. My weight loss is so weird. I held 187 all of March and then suddenly I was 181ish after TOM. So what I'm hoping for is to be really good with my eating and working out for the next 10 days to give myself that same WHOOSH...that'd put me at 176ish. And I would have broken the I-can't-get-past-180 curse. And that would make my day/week/month/year :):):)

SO is out of town this weekend for Easter so I am staying in the city. My plan is to eat SUPER healthy, rest, relax, WORK OUT each day and I also owe my writing partner 30 pages by Monday. As of now I only have 10 so I need to crank out 20 more...at least. I want to write more.

I'm looking forward to some peace and ME time :)

_____________

Larry - Good luck getting that sodium in check. I find it is the hardest thing to balance. I have to say. You continually inspire me! Your positive attitude is something I want more and keep striving for. I want to be like you LARRY!!! :)

Lindsey- OOOH!! I want to try those noodles...with LL's recipe :)

K9- I'm glad you like your new treats. I am a huge fan of both hummus and greek yogurt. $20 a class is the norm in NYC...that's why I ordered the Zumba dvds online.

Melissa - I'm feeling better with TOM on his way out....YIPPEE!! I hope you are liking your new weights. I find it to be an oddly good (satisfying) feeling to have my arms feel so weak after working them out. Here's to TONING up!! :carrot:

Stacy - I missed you yesterday !! I don't know how you are going to get more protein either. I am worried a little bit that reducing my carbs has made me a little more tired during workouts. But it could be TOM. I hope it's TOM.

Pint - WAY TO GO for resisting that pizza!!!

Still - I agree with Stacy. Reducing my carbs...I think...was what was most instrumental in busting my plateau.

Jo - Congrats on hitting 195!! :carrot:

Zoodoo- Glad to hear the scale is moving down!!

Shells - I'm sorry you are having a tough time. I'm not really sure what to tell you about your DH. I have some of the same problems. When asking for what you need just doesn't work. In my case I think it has a lot to do with maturity level. I would try talking, but come at it with a positive attitude. That's what I've been trying to do.:hug:

Diana - Those pills are GREAT!! HAHA! Make sure you take them today! I feel like I could use some advice from you. You love your DH and understand his flaws. I want to be the same way. How do you quell your anger when he is rigid and won't make any changes?

Wow ok i totally binged yesterday. Badly. I think it was 4050 calories for the day. And it was completely out of nowhere. I felt a little hungrier than usual...which i blame on the Fullbars that i tried for the first time (they are supposed to make you full, but they made me the opposite, hungry)...so i just kept eating after dinner, and eating and eating.

All that sugar gave me extra energy for my morning run though. I have been feeling run down during my workouts, probably because of the calorie deficit, and today's workout felt good for the first time in a long time. Even though i was frickin thirsty from all the carbs the night before!!!

Ate a smaller breakfast than usual this morning, but will basically get back to the normal eating plan.

 Good Mid-Morning All :D
I JUST arose after being up from 1-4 a.m. Most of the time. it takes me a couple of days to get back on track from working a night or 2.
I weighed this a.m. and decided to let my weigh-in tomorrow be the official one, since today is Zumba, running, and getting over 2 days of
not doing so well. It will be 7 days from my last--so, I hope to at least be down 1 pound :crossed: I believe this is a realistic goal for 1 lb a week,
but I will tell you, I am impatient! I want to wear all of my cute spring clothes NOW, without having to go buy new ones--even from the thrift shop!
(I'm kind of thrifty like that--which freaks my family and friends out!!)

Today's Plan: Eat 1300-1400 cals, Run 2.5 miles, Zumba with Bridget the
:drill: sergeant for an hour. I think since I am off for 7 days straight, I will try to do double exercise days, with a run in the mornings and Zumba in the
evenings. I MUST shake my body out of this "plateaued effect mode"! ;)

This morning while I was up at weird hours, I FINALLY decided on the calorie counter/HRM I wanted. I ordered a Polar FT40. It is middle of the road in
price and seems to be what I am looking for. The selling point for me on it was that I want to take it to work one night and c how many calories I
burn from 1900-Midnight. I am literally assessing, passing meds, and moving patients for 5 hours straight. Then I take a minute to scarf a salad or
whatever is around to eat. However, during those 5 hours of running around, there are "resting times" with my heart rate. I am standing, waiting for the
next thing--like if I give a 80 yr old patient her meds, I have to help her get them down, or maybe I am preparing a syringe, or whatever--but I am not
moving. This particular watch is supposed to count your "resting calories" as well! We'll c! ;)

My DH and I have decided to spend Easter at home instead of going to our
camping getaway on the river. (too much rain forecasted) MORE :dancer: ZUMBA :dancer: for me YAA!!

DianaLA: I hope you have to pay your husband, too! Did you drop 4 pounds overnight? Did I understand. That's a lot. I usually drop 2 overnight.

Berry: I told him I am not going to get 140g of protein. I think he is concerned over my calorie intake and that is why he said that. I absolutely refused to add any carbs. But, I might change on that. I need a better breakfast and I think I might add something like a whole wheat english muffin.

Shells- any feedback from your husband on your email? I emailed mine a couple of times when he really made me mad.

Novel- I am right there with you still! When is our next whoosh coming??? Did you say 10 days? After eating that pizza and realizing how good I felt I think I cam going to add in more carbs in the morning... I think I have been so used to how I was feeling that I didn't realize how much energy we get from carbs. Do you work out in the AM or PM?

------------------------

Having a terrible time with my little baby today. We were supposed to go on a playdate and they cancelled right when we were leaving. She is TOTALLY beside herself. I can't get her out of it. I have no idea what to do with her. I can't remember her ever being this upset for this long but we had been looking forward to the playdate all week. I am really aggravated. Might not plan a playdate with that mom again.

Surfer- Throw away the FULBARS... I thin I tried those once and thought they made me hungrier too. Get back on plan today and move on... thats what we need to do.

K-9- sounds like a great plan. I love to exercise in the AM and PM. I think that busts a plateau for me.

-----------------

I guess I better go try to help my baby... she is ABSOLUTELY hysterical now. This temper tantrum has been winding up for an hour and now she is hysterical. She is so disappointed about the playdate being cancelled. It breaks my heart because she is SO SWEET.

Diana - Those pills are GREAT!! HAHA! Make sure you take them today! I feel like I could use some advice from you. You love your DH and understand his flaws. I want to be the same way. How do you quell your anger when he is rigid and won't make any changes?

Ha Ha I felt better after my blow up this morning and haven't had to take any, yet. ;)

After my post this morning, I was hoping that no one would think DH is evil because he is not. It's funny, when we got Magnum, he took him out all during the night and took care of him. I think now I am more sensitive to Magnum's signs that he is going to be sick. He puts his head down and acts like he is digging a hole. DH doesn't understand what that means. As soon as I took Magnum out, he dug a hole, got sick in it, and he covered it up (I always help because I don't want him to get it on himself). If Magnum barks in the middle of the night, DH will still let him out.

When it comes to the house and yard work, alot of that has to do with DH's childhood and I understand this. They had a family business. For lack of better words, DH was cheap labor. The business consisted of an Exxon gas station, on premise automobile repair shop, U-haul rentals, & wrecker service. They also had a fuel oil business and they delivered fuel oil at night. On top of that they had a trailer park where they rented, trailers, apartments, and houses. DH and his Dad did all the repairs and remodeling at the trailer park, too. All of the work that was done at these business was done by DH, his Dad, and his Mom. They also had a part time worker. DH was never allowed to be a kid. When they got out of school in the afternoon, most kids went home to watch cartoons and play. He went to the business to work. When he was young he cleaned up and as he got older he took on more responsibilities. I think DH has worked a lot in his life. I know we have worked a lot with our business. I think when we got married he was just done with anything extra.

With that said, if and when I am sick, he is right there to take care of me. When I decided I wanted to go back to college to finish my BS degree, he was 100% supportive. That's when I had my big blow up about cleaning the house. He didn't want to deal with it, so we paid someone to clean the house and take care of the yard. He made sure that I was able to get all my school work done. I would do it while I was at work (again we've always been self employed). If I had to take a class during the day, he would step up to the plate and take care of the office while I was at class. When my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer, DH made sure I was able to take my Dad to his treatments every day.

He will work his butt off at work, but just doesn't want to do any more. Again, I think it has to do with his childhood. He's tired of having so much to do and would rather hire it done. Unless I want to do it.

Hey guys! I only worked till 2:30 today, little guy is napping, and I just caught up on all 15 pages of this thread! Yay! I'm caught up!

Larry- your attitude really inspires me. Its really awesome how different life can be when you look at your attitude as choice, not chance. I do the same. My MIL has a cute paper posted to her fridge about how 90% of life is in having the right attitude. Love it.

K9owner, surfergirl, and zoodoo- I am right there with you guys about the cake! I am a total cake addict, and that has probably been the hardest thing for me to scale way back on.

Stacy- hows the little one? You has asked about etsy. I make baby things- very lightweight blankets in fun patterns and colors, awesome shirts, etc. I also make fabric appliques and this woman has been ordering a lot for some military banners she makes. So I've been staying pretty busy. It's paying our way to Disney World this year though!

I think I will look at trying to cut down my carbs. I've been getting about 150ish net carbs, and I really struggle with getting it lower, but that might be just what I need. I love my breakfast cereal too much, I think.

shells- I'm sorry you are having such a tough time with DH right now. It's a hard situation, and I have no advice for you, just :hug:

DianaLA- you are so close to onederland!!! yay!!! can't wait to see what your doctor has to say about your BP.

Melissa- you made a great point that I didn't even think of! You are so right- I could be gaining right now, but I'm maintaining through this period because I'm watching things, which is EXACTLY why I started this journey to begin with! Thank you for redirecting my perspective- its so easy to get caught up in the scale going down.

Everyone I might have missed- hi!
________

Things are going well here. I am making it (somewhat) through my workweek. The good thing with working so much is I snack less and move more. The bad thing is how tired I am. I am WHOOPED! I'm still working of catching up from my week off during radiation. But I'm still rocking a great attitude and still making the gym a priority. I absolutely love my heart monitor. I am not yet on any thyroid supplements- I go in in two weeks and I'm hoping they will give me something then. I tend to push myself in whatever I do, and I love my job, but I'm terrified of burning myself out. My goal for today is to keep eating well and get to sleep at a decent hour.

Anyone else excited for Friday tomorrow? :D

Hi Still, Nice to see you back!

Melissa, I have no idea why I am so de-motivated. Nothing drastic is happening; maybe the weather has really brought me to be blah....even my MIL after her last grand episode and hubby going postal at her has left us alone, no stunts.

I am having a movie night with girlfriends. We decided this was a good way to hang and not over eat :) --I love my friends. We are like sisters. I am very lucky to have these amazing ladies in my life.

Tomorrow is a date night with hubby. We are going to dueling piano bar; that should be a blast. We are set on sushi; it won't be too high in calories, and I will drive, therefore no wine for me :) I need to get back on track, somehow.

Okay, so this has pretty much been a :cloud9: day! Had a "spa day" getting my hair colored/cut (even though she didn't listen to me and it's different from what I wanted....I can live with it!). Then I go to the doctor. BP 117/83 after 2 days off of my meds. She was EXCITED about my weigh loss. :yay: She said I can take my fluid pill as needed if I notice a lot of swelling because of something I eat, but I'm officially "off the meds." First time in 13-14 years I haven't taken a med for BP. I am so happy it's making me cry! THEN I go by work to be sure things are okay. I work in a shop full of men who barely notice anything at all. They all LOVED my hair cut. One of them even came up to me and said, "Okay, so I'm gonna tell you when you've lost enough weight....it'll be like next week." You have to know this guy. He isn't the type that ever really says anything nice about or to anyone. MADE my day! I thanked him, but informed him I still had a LOOOOONG way to go.

I'm feeling very emotional right now (in a happy way)......it's just been a GREAT day. I celebrated the day by eating two jelly beans outta my kids' easter candy from their easter parties at school.   I'm beginning to feel like a "normal" person again.....even almost desirable (not in a conceited or sexual way, though)! Before I always felt like everyone looked at me and just thought, "Ew." I feel like I'm on my way to normal. BUT even more important, I'm well on my way to HEALTHY!!! It's amazing. Truly Amazing! Thank you guys. I wouldn't be here without your help, support, suggestions, etc. :grouphug:

Stacy - it's hard to be on plan every single day. Add in a grumpy little one and that makes it doubly hard. Maybe mix up your diet a bit. Keep the calories lower, but mix up what you eat so it doesn't feel so much of a rut or a diet.

And I think the mowing was more than 350 calories too. mynetdiary said it was more like 500 something. I was whipped. No way to do even a walk around the lake today.

I don't know why mowing wiped me out so much. I mowed last year too, but I think we had less twigs, shorter grass and no pine cones and sugar gum balls all over the yard. I didn't have the energy to walk around the lake tonight and I would be in bed, but I have to make my son's 6th birthday cake tonight for tomorrow.

Tomorrow should be a challenge. We are going to Ihop for brunch (little guy's choice) and then birthday cake later. It's a european style cake which is much less sugary than US cakes (it's base is LOTS of eggs, a bit of sugar and flour and butter). I love the cake, so I will have a piece, but it will be hard to keep things in line tomorrow. There's not another birthday until July, so there's at least that. And that birthday is my mother in law's.

Night all! I'll post a picture of the cake tomorrow after I decorate it.

Hi Everyone! I am doing a quick check in tonight. Hoping to get to bed early.

DH found out about a new tapas restaurant. New restaurants are not good for me. They always wreck havoc on my weight. Anyways, their website looked good. We had a plan ahead of time, because all the tapas were listed on their site. We decided we were going to share. We didn't order anything fried, etc. There's still the unknown. I based my calorie estimates on the foods that I already eat.

I'll do personals later. It's been a rough day. We found out hubby's military separation wasn't approved.

I stuck to my workout, but totally gorged myself on Burger King AND pizza. My stomach is so incredibly messed up, and my tummy is a gurgly mess. I'm calling it a night. :(

Great day today on plan at 1293 although the sodium is still a little high :dizzy:

I had an appointment with my cardiologist today. He is very pleased with my recovery and he took me off some medications. I told him that I am walking to the mail box about 450 feet each way and I asked him if it was ok for me to start extending that walk a little further each day. He said go for it but to monitor my condition and stop if I am getting stressed. My DW was in the exam room with me so she knows now that it is OK with the doctor for me to start walking. :jig::carrot:

I asked him about post surgical ntutritional targets for me and he told me that in 2 weeks he was getting a new machine that can determine a persons exact BMI and Sodium, Carbohydrate, Protein, Fat requirements. I am to be the first one tested on May 10th with his new machine. He also has ordered thyroid testing to see if that had any bearing on my being overweight.

He is enthusiastically supporting me in my 1500 calorie daily eating plan and in my exercise goals.

He was also pleased to see I had dropped 13 pounds since my last office visit with him 2 1/2 weeks ago.

As I said at the beginning of this post it was GREAT DAY today:D:carrot::D

Hi Chix--and Larry :)

Ok, I feel like the :coach: tonight! Ladies Ladies Ladies!!! What have you been ingesting? Poison? Western Meds?
We have to do better than this! I'm not certain how this forum does with constructive criticism, but here's my "who asked your 2 cents!"

DIANA, LA & MELISSA: WTG glad you two had an awesome day!! :carrot:

STACY: "I am getting tired of my diet" OF COURSE YOU ARE TIRED OF DIETS, that's why it's NOT A DIET!!! It's a lifestyle! It's a CHOICE! I'm sorry if I come across rather blunt, but gf, aren't you ready for your bold red letters to read I LOST 100 POUNDS instead of 12, 14, 15 from losing 100?? I have only been in this forum roughly 15 days and I'm ready for you to change it to I LOST 100 POUNDS What an accomplishment. And the cool part is--you can do it for YOURSELF, not anyone else and not for any particular reason, but rather just because--YOU CAN!!!

For the rest of us who have been allowing external circumstances to hinder our personal goals, here's a little pre-Easter motivation: You can CHOOSE to continue to allow circumstances, people, and your mood dictate what you eat and when or IF you exercise and next week, over the summer, through the fall and winter, until next year at this same time (Lord willing), you will be exactly where you are, or heavier, or unhealthier! It's completely up to YOU! ((I realize I may need 3 fingers pointing back at myself next week for saying this!!)) END RANT! :grouphug:

As for me, this day.. I have chosen a healthy/wise lifestyle and stayed completely on track!

B: Almond Oats (155)
L: 1/2 Santa Fe Chicken Wrap, SO delicious fudge mini (327)
D: Grilled Chicken Summer Salad, Caramel Greek Yogurt (582)
S: Almond Oats (155)
Total: 1219

Ran 2 miles (360)
Zumba (540)
1 hr walk with the k9s approx 3/4 mile
Total: 900 + some change

:goodscale: Tomorrow is weigh day for me :goodscale:
No matter if I gain, loose, or plateau--I will have a glass of Merlot ;)

The PERFECT time to start something good is RIGHT NOW!!

((soon 2b de-escalating ticker)) HA :D

Hi ladies & Larry!

I've been MIA all day today. Been super busy with school and a million other things on my mind...Managed to eat lovely all day, although dinner wasn't great...but today was my higher day. Higher than I wanted at about 2000...but it could have been worse for sure. Hit another new low of 136.6# although tomorrow I'm sure I'll be up...had salty food for dinner. :nono: Hope y'all had a great day! I'll try to hop on in the morning and catch up on personals...I'm sure I'm behind a few pages. ;)

So glad you are healing fast Larry!! -- I told you about my gf. We visited her a bit today, and she is still having problems, especially from the anesthetics. She has these floaters, huge ones, that she can not see or use computer. I am SO grateful you seem to have recovered well. -- NOW; stay away from that sodium! :)

Grateful for life here :) :)

Good morning, and TGIF!

Wish me luck, guys! Today starts my attempt at low carb!

For breakfast I usually have one to 1.5 cups of crunchy granola raisin bran, and I truly love the stuff. But thats a whopping 66 grams of carbs, so I decided that I could go a long way towards lowering my carbs by not eating that every day for breakfast. So today I made myself a delicious ham and cheese omlette- 1 whole egg, one egg white, 2 slices hormel natural cooked ham, and a bit of shredded colby jack cheese. Yum!! Holy cow! Totally satisfying, and my totals came out to be 190 cal and 2 carbs.

It's hard for me to actually plan my days out completely because my school serves lunch and if its decent I eat it, but for dinner I'm planning chicken, broccoli and carrots, and for snacks I have almonds, an apple, and a string cheese. Look good so far?

The scale read 174 today.

Hope you all have a fantastic, on plan day!! :carrot:

Good Morning, Ladies and Larry! :)

Thank you all for your support, yesterday. There was a happy ending after all. Dh came home around 3:30 and knelt on the floor next to the couch where I was sitting. He said that he was going to sleep on the couch that night, so that I could get some rest. He added that he'd go to bed earlier, so he won't be so hard to get up in the morning and could I forgive him. He had such a puppy dog look on his face, it was sweet. Of course, I melted on the spot and apologized for getting so upset. So, like I said, a happy ending. :D

Stacy--I hear ya. I'm in the same rut. I'm ready to recommit and make May an amazing month. Wanna join me? ;)

Pint--I'm so sorry to hear that!! :( So, what are y'all going to do now?

Lindsey--I have to agree with Sum, your ticker is amazing. Look at you only a pound and change away from your goal!! :carrot:

Diana--I think I remember you asking me about my lip gloss? I got Clinique's Long Last Glosswear in Fireberry. I LOVE it! (though, I have to admit, it does not last 8 hours as advertised)

Larry--I'm so glad you're feeling better. You're doing an amazing job! Go you! :carrot:

K9--Awesome motivational message. We CAN do this! :lifter:

Ok, off to nurse this horrible cold. My head is completely stuffed up and my throat is killing me. I have all four kiddos at home today, too, so that should be fun. My eldest (8) is a sweetheart and takes good care of me. :D It'll definitely be a TV day, though. :^: Weight holding at 189. Not too far from my ticker and not bad considering TOM is on his way and I'm sick.

I know... my first was 10 lbs 9 ozs. So, they didn't worry as much when the ultrasound a few days before Henry was born said he was about 10 lbs... They were off about two pounds though... but no drugs, no C-section. And only a small tear for me (and no broken anything for him). He broke my tailbone though, but I forgave him.

Omgoodness!! You did that naturally?? Wow! You are my hero. Though, I have to say, my biggest baby was probably my quickest and "easiest". I went into the hospital and had him 2 hours later. Fast and furious, I say.
