I didn't have a chance to post Christmas day other than that gosh awful photo of me and Ruth. Well, Ruth looks good, but I look like I have a front tooth missing.
Three times I'd just gotten online and the power went out. I had a devil of a time trying to get our Christmas dinner made. I finally roasted our ducks in the gas barbecue with a gale wind blowing me about...fortunately a warm wind or it really would have been unbearable. About half an hour before they were ready the power came on so I was able to make gravy and braised red cabbage and potato dumplings. We ate at 9 pm. These power outages were partly caused by the train wreck we had just a block away two days ago. It felt like it was coming right through our house and, of course, it knocked out several power poles. So hydro repairs were of the temporary nature and clean up of the train wreck has only stopped for today. At least they got the highway open again so we were able to get to our daughter's home on Xmas Eve.
I got such a wonderful gift from my dh. He always shops at 4 pm on Christmas Eve and I'm sure the storekeepers see him coming. I got a lovely pair of real amethyst earings (my birthstone) in a teardrop shape with tiny real diamonds setting them off and a matching pendant. I was absolutely speechless. They are so elegant but not overly fussy so I can wear them to my meetings without looking overdone. He also gave me a beautiful Sawrovsk (sp?) crystal eagle for my display cabinet.
I won't even try to convince you all that I've been OP. Not even close I'm ashamed to say. But, I'm gearing up for getting back on track starting tomorrow. Can't today. I'm having the kids over for a seafood pie and other goodies. But, to be honest, I'm really beginning to get sick of all the sweets. It hasn't stopped me from eating them but I've almost had enough. :o

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and to our Canadian friends - Happpy Boxing Day!
Sorry I've been MIA lately. I was soooo behind for the Christmas festivities that I was out busting butt everyday in effort to get caught up. I have to say, I had it all together by Christmas Eve with the exception of one or two last minute gifts to wrap. The boys sheepishly came to us Monday evening and asked if we minded post poning our family gift exchange until Thursday. They wanted to go to the dear lease. So, this evening we'll have Christmas dinner and gift exchange with DS's, stepsons and wife/girlfriends. DH and I enjoyed Christmas Even with his mom and siblings, and then on to DSS's home to share in the "multiple" family get together.
Linda, it must be a year for surprises from DH's. I was shocked to open what appeared to be a shirt box to find two small boxes inside. He gave me a beautiful three "drop" diamond necklace. If I understand correctly the diamonds are to represent ~ past, present, future. It's gorgeous and total diamond weight is probably more than my ring. The second box was a beautiful two toned watch (badly needed). I guess they do think of us other than behind the sink! lol With that said, the other gift he gave me was a Scumbuster!

Back !
For those needing prayers, please know they've been said from Houston. It sure is amazing to me how much those prayers are answered.
Last week Susie's dad was once again released from the hospital and in less than 24 hours life flighted back. His blood pressure keeps dropping dangerously low indicating internal bleeding they were unable to locate where - would give him blood, stabilize him and send him back home. Finally they think they discovered where. His options were to run a scope and hope that it was something that could be cauterized OR major surgery which he has refused which means he would probably die in a short period. We all got on the phone requesting prayers and that evening we got the wonderful news. Instead of the major surgery they were able to somehow "plug" it (for lack of better word) and he was sitting up talking football! Prayers are heard.
Guess I better get my butt in the shower, it's going to be a busy day! Hope you all have a wonderful one!

Good morning, LindaBC and Janice, you earlybird chickies, (Well, I think Linda cheated a bit.)
It sounds like two of the 3FC SHDH's came through with great gifts! You ladies deserve those luxuries! Janice, along with some great stuff, I got a Swiffer! Harry has been watching the TV ads where the woman mops paw prints!
LindaBC, your day and Eve sound like they went well despite the Hydro problems. That train disaster sounds awful - so glad nobody was hurt.
Janice, you mean they went hunting on Christmas Day? Men! Oh well, it sounds like it was a good Day anyhow and you've kind of extended the holiday.
We took Lucy to friend Claire's place yesterday where she fitted right in with the kids and other two dogs and had a ball. We had a wee bit of Christmas cheer with them and then drove through the snowstorm to Joan's place. Lovely dinner there and I convinced her that I really did not want mashed potatoes! I did indulge in a piece of Queen Elizabeth cake for dessert. She and her family ate about two pounds of LindaBC's cranberry crunch with coffee! It definitely is addictive so I'm glad I didn't eat any besides the two very small samples when I made it!
Today will be fairly quiet although we will have the usual parade of drop-ins. I can finally pull my boots on so will be going out with Lucy for a walk later. I've been wearing shoes or clogs in the light snow but it's a bit tricky with the amount we have now.
I do hope everyone continues to have a Merry Christmas - it does go on until January 6th, you know. We spend so much time preparing and should stretch out the fun. I feel so sad when I see a Christmas tree pitched outside on the 26th!
Have a lovely day.

Momma J, you too! :smug:you must have been very good.:dancer:
As for praying an update on my nephew that had the heartattack, he is doing fine, had opperation and has gone home on medicine. Thank you all. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.
Ruth my tree comes down to the latest tonight. I put it up early and it comes down right after Christmas.
I had a wonderful day yesterday, but I think things are going to be different next year, God willing. I don't know how yet, but~~~~~~~~~.
Well I will go and get dressed so I can figure out more of this new keyboard later[it's a logitech]
Oh yeh, who won the power ball????
I really hope it was someone that needed it.

Morning ladies!!! I am back at work today..and happy to be out of my messy house. IT looks like someone came in and turned it upside down and shook it. Kids had fun tho!!!
So a few of you are doing something right, jewels are always welcome!!! I got a lovely coffee maker! Told DH not to buy anything cause we are redoing our kitchen and he always goes overboard!! So I am not unhappy....can't wait til Saturday so I can take the tree down (sorry Ruth I am sick of it!!!)
Hurricane, WV was the only winner of the powerball - that is about 10 minutes from where my husband grew up - I am hoping one of our friendly, generous relatives is the WINNER!!!
Have a great day ladies!!!

Sorry Scooby, but I'm counting on the Powerball winner to be my Uncle Eben. He lives in Hurricane. (Please, please Please!!!) Ruth my tree is still up. I'm thinking of trying to keep it alaive until valentines day, decorating it with hearts?
DH went way overboard on Christmas for me. I asked for a MP3 player, a cheap one that store maybe 20 songs. I got the most outrageous MP3 player, it stores 2000 songs, 200,000 pic, and videos. It takes pictures and records videos. I have no idea how to use it of course, but it looks cool! I plan to use it to walk with. Really! I promise.
Edit:
I forgot to say that I thought it was a very good picture of Ruth and Linda! And who sent me the cold weather? I had FROST on my windshield this morning. I had to scrap the window with a credit card, I don't even own an ice scrapper.

Oh Leenie, praying hard foryour Mom!
Good afternoon everyone! Well, my Christmas, as you could imagine was exhausting, noisy, and full fo fun. Miree was spoiled rotten, due in large part to me, but the whole family got in on it too! Barbie LIVES in my house! Here's the top tens:
Most annoying family member: My uncle Rocko with incessant rudeness and Scrooge-like behaviour--always a nay-sayer in the bunch!
Least liked food: The brussel sprouts my grandma demanded where on the table but only she ate.
Most funny/embarrasing moment: Grabbing Miree out of the bathtub as the firefighters dressed like Santa Claus went around the town on Christmas Eve. We wrapped her in 2 towels and she snuggled in dh's arms smiling and shivering at the same time!
Most insane moment: Dh and I awake at 5:15 am to go to Futureshop (an electronics store) for their Boxing Day sale (the day after Christmas in Canada is always the biggest shopping day of the year here) where we shivered our butts off but did land the sweet deal of a 27 inch TV for a mere $229 Canadian.
Most annoying toy: a toy recorder Miree gotin her stocking and was blowing at everyone
Most interesting toy: Ever seen the movie BIG? Stars Tom Hanks and he's a kid that turms into an adult? The scene where he'sin the toy store playing on the walking piano? That's what Miree got from my mother's boyfriend--a step on piano--she wouldn't stop playing with it!
Most expensive toy: Her baby doll given to her by the fellow that works with my dh who has double lung cancer. He figures he's dying so as a last wish he bought her this outrageously expensive baby doll--nearly a hundred bucks! She named her Shu-Shu.
Most scary moment: Miree let out a huge howl from the TV rom only to discover she was in great pain and couldn't walk! Heart in my mouth, we looked at her legs and no puffyness and felt all along them to see if it hurt but no--only when we tried to straighten her leg out did she cry. After massage of her calf muscles and a heating pad and now she's right as rain, running around. Charley horse, no doubt.
Most blissful moment--right now! I'm home alone with dh for the next 2 days--we left Miree and the pup at grandma's to visit while we clean up and just generally rest after the last month of near non-stop activity.
Most prayed for: a baby to hold in my arms. I went to Christmas Eve services with my Grandma and Miree and thoroughly enjoyed myself Lots of prayers went up that night....
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I sure did and bless you all!

Merry Christmas you guys! Just a pop-in between shopping and taking Cody to karate.
Leens, I will pray for your Mom. My dad went through this last year, and we were all beside ourselves with worry. He had 5 blockages. He looks and feels better now than he has for years!
It was a long haul, but well worth it. Prayers and thoughts coming your way!
Ok, I took longer than I thought reading...miss you all, will be back tonight!

Leenie ~ My prayers are definately with your mom and have been sent His way. Please remember, my dad just had surgery for three total blockages at the age of 74.5 and is already back out there going to car auctions, driving and literally driving my mom nuts in a months time. Please keep us posted.
Have to go ~ Just a quick pop in. Everyone is eating our late "Christmas" dinner. I was hoping to catch Melissa (DD) online or one of the kids. It shows she's on line but no one is responding to the instant chat messages or "buzz" alert. sigh Sure wish they would.
Have a wonderful evening all. Life is good and full of Blessings.

Hello everyone! Well, as a way to ruin Christmas, I had to work bright and early today. But, it was a fun day, the boss was mellow! And guess what? I got sparklers too! Emerald and diamond ring and bracelet, goes with the earrings I got for my bday. He's doing his level best to spoil me, who am I to argue??
Gotta get bathed and go to bed, I'm wiped. Talk to you tomorrow!

Leenie, I'm so sorry about your Mom. Sending healing thoughts her way. It's amazing what they can do these days so don't be discouraged.
Pooky, I loved your Top Ten List. SOme were strangely familiar. Your daughter probably got the leg cramp from playing her floor piano.
We had the neighbours over for dinner tonight. Daughter and her family couldn't come because she's been feeling lousy the past two days. I made a wonderful seafood pie which only my neighbour and I ate but I also had a second duck (I roasted two on Christmas Day and Peter and I just ate one). I also made rice, mixed carrots, cauliflower and peas, braised red cabbage, salad and a peach pie with ice cream. Everything very yummy and NO I"M STILL NOT OP. Sheesh, quit yer naggin'!
Ruth, I'm in AWE...awwwwwww....of your restraint. I think the only answer for me is to not have anything whatsoever tempting in the house.
