Pregnant - Nursing - Tailbone Pain?

While in my birthing class two days ago I was rocking in a lotus position (to scoot back to the wall) and notice a take-your-breath-away pain. It felt like a tightness (almost like my hip needed to pop) on my tailbone. When I sit or exercise, I feel a dull pain -- hardly noticeable. But if I rock back on my coccyx, sit on the floor with my legs extended, or stand in tree pose with my right hip flexed out, I feel the pain again.
I didn't injure it (fall or hit it). But I also work in a chair for eight hours a day and have the very bad habit of sitting on my feet.
I have no idea if this is related to pregnancy! I guess I am assuming it is since I've never experienced it before. Anyone else run into this issue?

It sounds like it might be your sciatic nerve. It's pretty common to develop sciatica during pregnancy, but I believe it generally goes away afterward.

That is definitely a sciatic nerve pain. Gale is right, its pretty common during pregnancy. You could possibly have a bulging disc due to the baby weight, and will likely resolve its self once you deliver. Try not to do what ever it is that makes you feel it, you don't want to aggravate it. If it becomes really bothersome, sitting on an icepack will help take the swelling of the disc down so that its not rubbing on the nerve.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I did end up calling my doctor (who I love because she is sooooo no nonsense). Here's what she said:
Me: Yeah, it's in my tailbone. I can really feel it when I'm doing like cobbler's pose or rocking backwards.
Her: Don't do that.
Me: What? Like give it a rest for like a week?
Her: No. Your body is changing. There's going to be stuff you're uncomfortable with.
Me: SO FOREVER?!
Her: (laughing) NO! Just until the baby is born.
Me: So forever. Sigh.
I can feel it when I am changing weight so walking was a bit stiff this morning but I loosened up. I also used this as an excuse to sign back up with the Y so I could use the pool.

Aw, I know it feels like it's going to be forever but I promise it won't be! Never in history has someone stayed pregnant forever. You'll make it!
