Is rye bread acceptable on Phase 2?

Rye bread is actually considerably lower than whole wheat bread on the glycemic index. Just watch the supermarket varieties that contain white flour.

I'm most likely to order rye bread when out at a restaurant. Whole wheat breads available at restaurants are rarely whole wheat so I was wondering if rye was a better option. There is actually a restaurant near me that does grilled cheese in a convection oven rather than grilled, so they are not at all greasy - that is what I was thinking about having! Did you know it is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich month?

Grilled cheddar on rye - grilled provolone on rye - grilled american on rye . . .
I might be in heaven . . .
