I joined 3FC seriously on 1/1/11, have lost 43 lbs./19%, and have assembled a platoon, a group who are determined to give 110% each and every day to achieving their weight loss goal. Some of the ladies nicknamed me Sarge, so Sarge it is!

--Please join if you're serious about dropping pounds and melting your BUTT-er (that's a salute to one of our troops) and have a sense of humor!

--Please join if you want daily motivation to achieve your goal. Sarge has plenty of time to keep an eye on you!

--Please join if you want Sarge to scream in your face like Jillian Michaels on Biggest Loser because that's what you're gonna get!

--Please join if you understand the definition of challenge, "...a call to engage in a contest, fight, or competition," this is your life we're talking about!

--Don't join if you're gonna bring excuses!

--Don't join if your head isn't in it yet. We'll be here to embrace you with well-toned arms when you're ready.

--Don't join if you're overly sensitive to comments like "step away from the buffet!"

--Don't join if you want to discuss anything other than get this freaking weight off of me! Sarge is type A personality. Reading touchy-feely stuff makes Sarge's eyes bleed!

RULES: Simply make Sarge a promise each Sunday to lose a certain number of pounds the following week then DO IT! New Privates encouraged to join any Sunday!

WHO IS WITH ME?!?!?!? All are welcome (including men)...any age, any amount of weight to lose. Say "Yes, Count Me In Sarge!" Do it, you know you want to, then drop and give me 20 minutes of exercise!

:drill:
Sarge is Back!

Disclaimer: Sarge is not a doctor, a nutritionist, or personal trainer with any sort of real medical knowledge. Additionally, it is not my intention to poke fun at our armed forces. I salute the men & women protecting our country.

I'm beginning to think you ladies have some kind of advanced fat radar or something, my friend at work http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/715/heartwml.gifquestioned me on my latest loss shortly into the day, not only that but she pointed out i was tanning a little, something i assume is from all the sun i got last week walking, not like i notice these things. :dizzy:

Work went well enough, a fairly easy day, still beat from lack of sleep, something i was cognizant of happening and ready to deal with, still i am struggling a bit to " bring out the jams " tonight.

Prepping mentally as i type, i know i will wake up some when i hit the pavement, weather is iffy, grey skies but not to bad otherwise, nothing else matters more to me though, so i push forward.

See you on the flip side. :)

Hey Reso! Great first day back, huh! Let's see, a "pretty lady" on the trails last week, another potentially interested party at work this week, when will it stop?!?!? :) You know you're gonna get your walk in, because that's what you do! Soldier on!

Hope the walk with good Reso! You are very consistent with those walk which is very inspirational and awesome.
And all that lady attention lately. Oh la la, the walks are working.

It's storming here. Tornado watch, high winds and rain and all that lovely stuff.
I need a kick in the butt for tomorrow. I was off today. Exercise, food. Yeah, just off completely.

Okay, I'm going to go watch the wind some more and behave myself better.

To add to the running discussion. Side cramps are just one of those fun evils that running can produce. Like the other ladies said, going out too fast can produce them. Also eating right before running or chugging too much liquid before hand. Do try stretching your sides before you workouts. Just reach your hands over your head and bend to the side, concentrate on expanding and stretching the rib area on each side.
And if you 'run' into calf and shin pain...that rather normal for beginning runners too. Your body is just getting use to all this new stuff, muscles are trying to form and stress is added to new areas. Oh it's fun.

And yup, swelling fingers, normal as they said. Water retention and blood circulation. You are swinging your arms, mostly hanging them down and all that blood doesn't get pumped out of there efficiently so swelling. I just kind of wiggle my hands and swing my arms up or whatever if I feel it coming on to help 'loosen' it up. But it's harmless and will just go away.

LOL, the lady at work is married but i do love her so. :o

Cheshire : With my extra walks lately i've averaged probably close to 10 Km every single day this year so far, so around 950 Km and counting, last year i was probably around 7 or 8 a day average.

Not much point in trying to lose weight if you are only going to come up with excuses "n'est-ce pas?". Be safe.

Hey everyone! Just letting you all now I'm still alive!! Busy as allgetout, school's putting me for the ringer (my to-do list is 18 bullets long, without homework), and I'm kind of going crazy, but alive. Up 5 lbs since last week... Not really the awesomeness I was hoping for but I'm back on track today, not overeating my calories AND with a trip to the gym! Yay me! I'll try to check in more often, but my life is just so crazy busy for the next two weeks (I just picked up a second job and my show opens on the 13th so I'm in the middle of tech rehearsals and stuff). By the 17th my schedule will free up so much I might cry. I'll definitely be on more then. I love you all!! Keep up the good work. I'll report by the 17th at the latest, Sarge, Have faith in me!!!

pokey, I get swollen fingers just from long walks! It always disappears shortly. Great job getting started on the running program - I hope you really enjoy it!

I was on-track with eating today, but did not get to the gym this evening. No excuses, I just got some very upsetting news this evening and decided to spend the time with my husband tonight instead of leaving to go to the gym. But, after my husband went to bed tonight I searched and found a kickboxing workout on my OnDemand - so at least I managed something today! It was a great reminder of why I don't do classes at the gym: I have NO coordination whatsoever. I'll be at the gym for the weights with (kettle)bells on tomorrow. :)

Thank you for the butt kick Sir! I will be rubbing my sore butt-er, which will remind me to get off of it and lose it!

Plan for today:
Track ALL food. No sneaking!
Walk with co-workers.
Arms and legs.
With some light cardio dancing to top it off.

Go get 'em Platoon!

RISE & SHINE BUTT-ER PLATOON!

Can't believe Sarge beat the usual suspects to the first post this morning! (Darn it Chesh...I was typing while you were typing)

Jojo--WELCOME! We'll take your pound pledge! You're so close to goal, you'll inspire us all!

Dreamer--You're gonna close those running gaps when you can. Most of the time it's just a head game. Even five more steps than the last time...five more yards towards the next lamp post.

Jennabean-- EEEEKKK 5lbs. up?!?!!? You DO have a lot on your plate, but you gotsta take care of yourself too! Summer is coming!!!! Sarge has faith in your. Check back when you can. As you might have noticed free kicks in the butt-er are available upon request.

VickieL--No problem with sending you more kicks if you need it, but sounds like your back on plan. Yes!

Chickadee-- Body movement is movement! Who cares about coordination! "At the gym with kettle bells on..." image makes me :).

Pokey--Nope, fingers won't fall off. Keep running and soon you'll have slender, hand-model like hands with fingers so skinny your wedding ring will fall off like Peanutt's did! BTW, you two are in charge of each other this week. Into ONEderland you both go holding skinny hands!

Rainbow---Come out, come out wherever you are!

OK gang...Sarge up early because it's a 2-a-day today. Gotta get at it!

Have a great, sweaty day all!

Hi Peanutt--Great day for a bike ride, yes? Peanutt ridin high into ONE-derland soon!

ABSOLUTELY! I have a big ride planned for this evening. And pretty much every other day this week! Check out this amazing forecast (http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-50_metric_e.html) for my birthday weekend....good thing we're going to take full advantage of it with a birthday BBQ on Sunday afternoon. This is the warmest weather we've had since last fall.

I picked the restaurant for my family birthday dinner and I picked a popular local restaurant with quite a few delicious healthy menu choices and lots of local produce and meat on the menu. See, you can fit good choices into everyday life without sacrificing your progress or your enjoyment of special occasions. (Wanna see what I'll be choosing from? MadamGoo - great idea with the weighted backpack! I think I might try that. I'm pretty sure I'd be exhausted in no time...kudos to you for pushing through 3 miles with all that added baggage!

Welcome to the new recruits!! I'm so glad this platoon keeps growing in size!

Rainbow Susan - keep enjoying that vacation! But I hope you're still melting that BUTTER. NO vacation from butter melting!

I snapped this photo on my lunch walk today. GEESE have finally returned! They're one of the sure signs of spring and I was so happy to see these 4 pairs looking for prime nesting spots (which we have plenty of). I hope some of them stick around and nest here so I can keep watching them through the spring.

:welcome3: Linalin . . . all are welcome here as long as you're willing to put out. SARGE LIKES THOSE WHO PUT OUT . . . (Oh yes I am sooooooooooooo funny in my own head) SARGE is gonna want a pledge of how many pounds you plan to lose . . . so think hard 'cause SARGE WILL HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE . . .

Jojotheyoyo . . . well SARGE says I'm the crunch queen . . . (yea right, NOT) what I do is 4 kinds of crunches,
1. regular crunches - lie on back, knees bent, hands behind ears and crunch as many times as you can
2. reverse crunches - lie on back, arms by your side, knees in air at 90 degrees and you lift your butt-er up as your knees move toward your head (swinging legs is not allowed, thats cheating), (I think these are the hardest)
3. & 4. side (oblique) crunches - lie on back, knees bent, put ankle of left leg on the knee of the other leg (kind of like crossing your legs while lying down), hands behind ears, crunch & twist so the right elbow goes toward your left knee . . . (OK does that even make any sense?????), then switch legs and do the other side

I do them EVERYDAY, EVERYDAY, EVERYDAY . . . if you start with 5 that's fine, but do 5 of each kind, then after a few days or a week add a couple more, then a couple more and before you know it you will be able to do 100of each kind . . . I roll over on my belly and stretch between the different kinds of crunches . . .

MadamButterfly: I never would have thought of putting all those weights in a backpack like that, lol. Nice idea!

peanutt: Beautiful photo!

I only slept about 3 hours last night and had a super crummy day at work today, and I rushed home at 9:30 tonight to change and make it to the gym before it closed. I was tired and in a terrible mood, and going to the gym was the last thing I wanted to do, but I am SO glad I went. I don't think about work when I'm there, I don't think about school when I'm there, everything just fades into the background and I focus only on what I'm doing at that very moment. It is such an awesome mental break, and I don't know why I so often forget that. I came home from the gym smiling and feeling 100% better than when I left - which my husband was very relieved by, lol. So: I got my strength training in today, and food is on plan so far. I need to figure out what I'm having for dinner, but I have lots of good options in the house. :)

Hope everyone had a great and energetic day!

Edit: It certainly seems like you did, Resolute! I have no idea how you found the time today to do as much as you did!

Dreamer -- Police escort=:) A shooting = :?: On Sunday our neighbors were burglarized and I always worry about campus shootings so now I'm really edgy. Stay safe on your runs...vary your course!

Chickadee--WTG on getting your workout in even tho it was a crummy day! Was there a little devil Sarge screaming inside your head, threatening you if you didn't workout. If not, just wait...

Reso--Ok, I won't hold you blame for Hawks... You DO put in a good day, I give you that. You average something like 10 miles a day, right? That's dedication!

MadamB-- Yes, goo shields have been activated (SO funny in our own heads) and I'm feeling just a bit of the  in me as we end that BL Challenge. My husband says my tombstone will be engraved, "She left no shot unfired!" hehehehe

Bounce to it platoon! Like MadamB said, Sarge loves those "who put out!"

MAN you guys are early risers! That's awesome!

We just got back from a half hour run with my little dog. He packed on a few ounces over the winter and needs to get back in running shape for the summer, so it's up at 5 to take him out now. The upside is that it totally exhausts him so he can sleep away the day while we're at work.

Reso - I washed my car yesterday too. It was bad. Took so many passes to get all the grime off. Doesn't it feel good to have a shiny clean car? Well, at least until you drive anywhere again. ;)

Chickadee - WTG on getting to the gym when you thought you didn't feel like it. That is exactly when you need to be there the most. Don't let anything stop you!

Dreamer - how scary! Stay safe and I hope today is significantly less exciting!

Have a great day, platoon! Melt that butter!

Sarge just checking in and celebrating my small accomplishments.
Got my bike out (had to clean all the dust off it and oil it up) and last night I was able to ride up our big hill without the assistance of 911. I rode the whole way up with out stopping. My rear end hurts today but I did it!
Also walked for thirty minutes yesterday during luch.
Today, the pants I am wearing, I can actually button them. The last time I wore them the were so tight around my waist that I had to unbotton them just to breath.
Okay, small accomplishments I admit but hey if I have to celebrate the small things.
Planning on walking during lunch and doing some weights tonight.
Enjoy your days Losers!!!

Now, some serious business:

I just watched Biggest Loser from last night (while working out!) and was inspired by a few things:

"Tighten up those workout plans & calorie counts!"
"Laser Focus!"
"WE ARE SOLDIERS. WE FINISH STRONG!"

Then, ATTENTION LURKERS!
From the mouth of the eliminated player (I won't say who...no spoils for those who might still not have seen the episode).
"Believe in yourself. Trust the process and take one day of the journey at a time." Don't sit on the couch anymore and read about the rest of us changing our lives. Do something for yourself!

Push that "post reply" button right there in the bottom left corner and join us! DO IT! Tell Sarge how many pounds you WILL lose by Sunday!

OK, I have a plan! I am going to DESENSITIZE myself from the scale. I am going to start weighing, every time I think about it. (I will do it hourly, if I have to.) I will write down all the mumbo-jumbo the scale spouts at me, til it all turns into a blur or enlightenment comes upon me (whichever comes first.) Perhaps this will help me put the tyrant in it's proper place!:chin:

Sarge, yea...I got over there to bounce on her bed like tigger to wake her and she *****ed that she had a cough and couldnt go walking....I was like "REALY?..cmon" cause she tld me just yest she wanted to go today (this is why I go running at 5 am, I never know if shes gonna go walking or not) So needless to say she didnt go walking with me and i came home. On the plus side that is about 2 miles I got to walk :p btw wtg on your 90 min round.

kneed to lose - What pushes me to get up and run at 5am every day in the rain wind and cold that is the great northwest? Simple, That pain is nothing compared to what I am doing to myself by being overweight. I feel better after I eat on plan, take my vitamins and exercise...I honestly have never felt better in my life (except maybe the day I was born). I want kids..I want my brothers friends to go "THAT IS YOUR SISTER?!?!?!" I want to have size 12 and 14 ants fit my bigg butt and tummy. I want to LIVE and...I want to show my mother in her face that is CAN be done (she constantly tells me it can't) so I run, I do bodyweight exercises every so often but mainly I run.

Sizzlin you and your youngest are in my prayers!!! heres hoping it gets better.

jojo, we all do that every so often I normally jump on the scale at about tuesday or so just out of curiosity sake. My friend rebecca steps on it every day and is OBSESSED! like literally. when I first started my journey I thought about the scale and was tempted to weigh EVERY DAY but it just made me mad, i quit cold tukey, I quit because very son after I started al my "OMG YOUR FAT" sized pants got too big and I had to go buy new clothes...i bought pants that tie so I can wear them for a while. It was hard but I did it, I have some clothes in carious sized I try on every so often to see how far I am from fitting in to them and that helps.

Just checking in atm still got the tigger song stuck in my head -.- Darn you reso LOL still love tigger though.

Day 2 of C25k complete!!! :) But not without incident...I'm super clumsy and often can't go a week without some kind of wipeout.

So this morning, I had finished the day's segment and I was inordinately proud of myself. I run/walk around an elite golf course in my neighborhood, and so, because I had finished running and I felt awesome, I figured I'd take one more briskly walking pass around the big section of the golf course before heading in.

I'm bee-bopping along to my tunes, ponytail swinging, thinking "I'm a runner! I'm a runner! I'm a runner runner runner!" I passed a big group of golfers and a gardener, who happened to be hosing down the sidewalk. As I wave to the gardener, I think, "I bet the sidewalk is slippery" and before the thought could finish, SPLAT, I ate it bad on the sidewalk. Skinned palms, skinned knee, one earphone hanging down by my side, and, from the force of impact, my cell phone popped out of my sports bra and skittered across the sidewalk.

So the gardener comes running over, and a bunch of old guys jump the fence to see if I'm okay, and there's all this fuss and I'm trying to say "I'm fine! I'm fine!" and get up and get dusted off.

Then I see the looks on all the ladies faces and all I could think about was that they were thinking, "What's the fracas with the fat girl?" and then I couldn't stop giggling.

This one old lady comes up and hands me my phone and says, "Where did that even come from? You hit the ground and the phone just came soaring through the air," and that just made me laugh harder.

So now I'm home icing my hands and knee. :)

Yes i'm done work early again. Apparently it will be slow for a couple of weeks to a month but then we should expect to be working overtime. What do you do ? Gonna enjoy another day is what. :D I only have two payments left on the house and it's all mine, so i'm not so stressed about cash flow lately. :p

Anyways just eating some lunch, turkey bun with butter/salt and pepper. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/8094/drool2.gif

jojotheyoyo : I look at the scale like baseball, stepping up to bat at the plate, i go up swinging for the fences and strike out regularly but every once in a while i connect and oh boy just look at her go. :D

Peanutt : LOL it actually rained just enough to make the truck look a little dirty over night. But yeah it was gross before.

SMSDREAMER2007 : Here, let me take care of that for you. :p If you don't start singing this instead there is something seriously wrong. http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1268/runaway.gif

sizzlingina : Take care of your family http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/715/heartwml.gif, but don't forget you have to take care of yourself for your family as well.

JayTee : I usually only walk once a day around 9 km but lately twice when i have time. (Around 5.5 miles or 11 if done twice)

NEMom : That's a great thing to celebrate, i always get a shot of pride when i can wear previously unwearable attire.

MadamButterfly : La La La La La La La (hands on ears), can't hear you body, what did you say. ( you want two more long walks today ? ) :p We'll see i guess.

kneed2lose : Nothing beats back the gloom quite like pushing yourself physically.

pokeycactus : I hope you aren't to sore/upset now pokey , I've fallen a couple of times this past season, first thing i usually do is look around to see if anyone saw me :o, second is to stand there and let the pain subside, then making sure everything still works and finally limping off into the sunset. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6874/bleh2c.gif

I'm out of here for a nice hard walk. Check back laters. :)

Hey Sarge! Just wanted to check in! Had a really bad couple of days with work so ended up at the gym twice yesterday and again today, love the evening boxing class - great stress relief! Sarge done for day (take that MadamGooey & your dripping butt-er)
Round 1: 90 min cardio (45 stairs/45 tread)+weights+60 f'ng crunches
Round 2: 45 min cardio machines + 145 more f'ng crunches
Round 3: "Walk The Plank" time: 12:23 /// Total cal burn for day = 1400

Gooey--I must confess in "Walk The Plank" I could not get my a** up off the floor for side scissors portion (apparently I have no side core strength) so I soldiered thru with just doing the scissors part on each side but my butt was solidy on the floor. So, 12:23 is the time to beat for the "about to hit 55 age bracket!" Felt so good when done!

Anyone else want to try, here's the link again...scroll down to Walk The Plank. http://www.youregoingtosweat.com/the_challenge.html

Yoyo--Seriously, you ARE addicted to that scale. You need to hide it. Have a loved one take it from you for a week!

VickieL -- EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!!!!!! Interesting how even a "virtual kick in the a**" can make you accountable for yourself! Keep it going so we have surplus loss this week for those who might fall a few ounces short!

ASF -- Boxing sounds awesome. So many of the weight loss shows are featuring boxing these days. I mean seriously, who among us has never wanted to punch a wall or something when we're angry!?!?!

Sarge is wiped, but time to open the mess hall! Later losers...

Reso LOL thanks dude!! thats a bit better lmfaoooo

Awwww sarge gave me a hug!!!! Thanks sarge..thats great to hear! I constantly get yelled at cause I cant have refined carbs....like literaly cant. I find when I eat them I get majorly sick. When I have ice cream or a dessert I have to eat chicken with it AND take a cinnamon pill to be ok. Which means food has to be cooked (which I do the cooking anyway) and we cant really have things like frozen pizzas in our freezer, cause its a waste of money to have two different diets and everyone else wants frozen pizzas. Normally wen I remind them it makes me sick I get "well cant you have it anyway? its just once" The problem with that thinking is every time is "just once" and since you did it "just once" you can do it "just one more time" that can get to be every day or every meal so thanks for that:p

pokey Sorry bout that fall! but wtg on the run

peanutt: Thank you! You guys are keeping me motivated :)

NEMom: Nice job! I love the feeling of my clothes fitting better... keep it up, and soon the pants will be falling off! :)

sizzlingina: I hope your little one is ok!

MadamButterfly: Your post in response to kneed2lose reminded me of a quote I read in someone's signature when I first began posting on 3FC. It was something like, "No one ever says 'I wish I didn't exercise today'." It is SO true, and I need to remember to remind myself of that one daily. Thank you for helping me to remember it with your post!

jojo: I hear you on the scale. It has been up for me the past two days, despite my exercise and being on plan calorie-wise. :( I like your experiment though... let us know how it works!

DREAMER: It upsets me that your mom is discouraging. I am so glad you're so motivated and are proving her wrong. :)

pokey: Your fall sounds exactly like something I would do! I have a tendency to sprain an ankle once a year or so. I am glad you're ok!

Resolute: Sorry about the shorter hours at work, but I hope you enjoyed the extra time today. :)

VickieLou: Congratulations on exceeding your weekly goal!

Sarge: Wow, that's a boatload of exercise!!! I'm amazed at your energy and dedication. I haven't looked at the "walk the plank" link (I'm a little afraid ), but I'll see if I can try it out this week. I'm not posting about it here though if I do terribly!

ASF: Going to the gym always reminds me too of how much I really do enjoy it, and how good it is for me mentally. I always used to think that the people who said exercise was a stress reliever were crazy. How completely wrong I was!!! I wish I'd realized it years sooner.

linalin: Congratulations on the push-up progress!

Work is still nuts, and I completely forgot to eat lunch today. :dizzy: If the federal government shuts down on Friday I will likely be on furlough next week (I work for a non-profit contractor at a military lab), which really just means that I'll work from home but not get paid for it, lol. But maybe then I can get to the gym during the day, which is a nice thought. :) Today was on-plan with calories, and I did 50 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. I've had close to 100 oz. of water today, plus a 16 oz. coffee this morning, so the scale better be back down tomorrow! And if TOM would go away tomorrow, that would be nice too... it's been 11 days. :club:

Ruh-oh Scooby Doo, where was Cheshire this morning? Reso beat her to the post!

LINALIN DOING PUSH UPS! So many in this little platoon are doing things they never thought themselves capable of! And, they weren't "cheater" push ups, they were best you could do push ups! We're all works in progress!

MadamGooey--Walk The Plank!?!?! Sooooo sore this morning after all your damn crunches and that plank. This virtual gauntlet tossing is fun tho...I'll let you pick the next exercise set...and can we talk about how cute that fellow is? I knew that you'd win timewise. I had little hope of beating a former fireman but even attempting the entire set was both exhilarating and comical...who could ask for more. I had my DH try that scissor section and he lithely knocked it out in no time and I told him to go take a flying...

Chickadee-- Way to look on the bright side. If the government shuts down on Friday its to the gym! Sorry you're in that position tho!

TO ALL -- JUST A QUICK THANKS AGAIN FOR HANGING AROUND HERE!!!
It's been so easy to continue my own journey knowing that you are all out there sweating your way to your own goals!

Morning Platoon.

I am very late this morning. I'm taking a sick day off work again. My lymph nodes in my neck are so swollen and my jaw is so tight on one side. It hurts to eat, and I was up and down all night. Argg. So I was trying to sleep in a bit because I'm starting to feel like a zombie.

It's off to the doctors for me today. Hopefully he will help me out.

I was checking out those "walk the plank" and other videos from that site Sarge. Ohh, that does look like some butt-er, sweating fun. Once I get over whatever is wrong with me I'm going to be trying some of those out.

Exercise is probably out for me again today. But considering it hurts to chew and eat...I don't think I'll be snacking or going over my calories either.

Morning all. The scale is still up this morning, 3 days in a row at 240.7, so I think I have to change my ticker and signature tracker upward. :( I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I have been under 1300 cals every day for the past 8 days and have exercised 7 of those days, but the scale has only dropped by 0.7 lbs in that time. I am really bummed. :( Edit: Sorry to be so negative. I know I'm doing the right things, and the weight has to come off at some point. Today will be an on-plan day, as usual, and I WILL remember to eat lunch. :)

Cheshirecat: I'm sorry you're feeling so crummy! I hope you get on your way to some relief when you see the doctor today.

Have a good day, all. :)

Chikadee - it upsets me too but I cant totally blame her, the reason she isnt supportive is because she has more weight than I to lose and thinks she cant loos it and keep it off. Its kind of the Misery loves company syndrome, she is fat so she wants us fat to so she doesnt feel bad about herself because then she can pin it on genetics or something. also, you might be eating too FEW calories.

sarge LMFAOOOO I love the "i told him to go take a flying....."that cracked me up this AM

chesire - feel better!!!!!

just got back from my run..sooooo tired I think a nap might be good today! Though while on my run I learned two new things 1. the sidewalks are now roads an 2. People around here hate me. Shooting near the school on tues and now this AM I almost get ran over by a car....WHILE IM ON THE SIDEWALK! really? granted cars around here try to run me over all the time while im crossing in a crosswalk because they are impatient but COME ON, WHILE ON A SIDEWALK? yea... unfort my sister made choc chip cookies last night so somehow my mouth decided that cookies were a good dinner and a good breakfast while I was making oatmeal :\ Dont worry though, I didnt eat that many and with how sick I am feeling now....no more cookies for a year. GOOD MORNING TROOPS

SARGE: You always make me KICK MY BUTT-ER . . . LOLOLOL, I tooooo am sore, but don't blame the crunches :lol3: Blame Walk the Plank . . . YUP I did it again this AM after a 15 min warm-up on the bike, New time 8:17 . . . MUCH happier with this, also the first time around I kept falling over doing the bird dogs (seriously, almost every time) . . . (WISH I HAD VIDEOTAPED IT . . . TOOOO FUNNY) I had my feet together, that guy had them spread fairly far apart . . . so I adjusted, now I'm drippin' BUTT-ER again . . .

pokeycactus: LOLOLOL, laughing near you, not at you, only because that is exactly something I would do, I hope you're OK

JOJO: I am a scale-a-holic too. I weigh when I wake up, after I work out, before my shower, after my shower, after I get dressed and that's all before 10AM . . . We need our own thread . . . LOLOLOL Oh, WTG on the crunches . . . just keep adding til you hurt the next day

Cheshire: SORRY YOU'RE SICK . . . hope the doc helps you

knead2lose: Did you get you get some kind of workout in ????? HUH, HUH, DID YA, DID YA???

Dreamer: You're welcome . . . but it's true, I've NEVER done a workout and then said, "WISH I HADN'T DONE THAT" Of course after Walk the Plank I may have to rethink that statement . . . LOLOLOLOLOL . . . I too keep singin' the Tigger song . . . OK adding this . . . tooo funny about the cookies, sounds like something I'd do . . . and then I feel crummy too . . . DID YOU EAT THE OATMEAL??? That's why I eat so often, then I don't snack, I just eat healthy (literally) all day long . . .

VickiLou: WOOHOO . . . met your challenge already

ASF: Way to get back on track . . . Boxing, sooooo fun and a GREAT workout

Reso: Step away from the cupcakes, chips, donuts, candy, ice cream, jelly beans (oh jellybeans, nope I can't do it, none for me <sigh>) Hang in there and try a cup of hot tea & foods that fill you up, things that work for me is a banana (with Peanut butter sometimes) oatmeal or whatever works for you

chickadee: YES, YOU MUST EAT LUNCH . . . me I rarely forget to eat . . . LOLOLOL, actually somedays I feel I eat ALL the time (of course I usually eat about every 2 hours) . . . try not to work to hard and get some "ME TIME" in :D

Linalin: PUSH-UPS, soon it will be one armed push-ups . . . OH yeah!! You can do it . . .

Dcap: Great workout . . . keep to that plan, it WILL WORK!!!!

RAINBOW: Are you still in Florida????? You must be having a GREAT time and I'm soooo jealous . . . ARE YOU RIDING THAT BIKE?????

OK, I think I finally finished sweating (from Walk the Plank) so off to do my workout and CRUNCHES, but starting today I'm going to do bicycle crunches . . . will try for 100 to start . . . (I've got to work on those obliques)

OK TROOPS, MELT THAT BUTT-ER AND MAKE SARGE PROUD!!!!!

All hail the GooMaster on cutting Walk The Plank time! I'm gonna give it another shot this afternoon and am consider videotaping it...seriously, with the number of times I fall over or collapse on the carpet the tape would no doubt go viral! And the bird dog point part for me...think hippo pointing way to a big ole stack of hay and watering hole! :)

Chesh--Feel better! It just doesn't feel right round here without your 6am post! You're the platoon bugler!

Dreamer -- Well, at least you "owned" eating the cookies and followed them with an oatmeal chaser! STOP IT tho! Also, WTH on shootings and cars aiming for you on the sidewalk?!?!!? It's like a conspiracy to keep you inside.

Dcap-- love the attitude... "today -- gym -- it's on!" Oh yeah!

Chickadee, Yoyo & Pokey -- Sarge will be sneaking into your quarters to steal your scales. Don't sabotage your efforts and motivation by listening to a bathroom scale that has been known to blatantly lie on a daily basis!!! Seriously, bathroom scales derail weight loss efforts, then you stop trying, and then people give up. DON'T GIVE IN!!!!

I'm gonna say this as nicely as possible - STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF EVERYDAY AND STRESSING OVER THE NUMBER! Sorry, but I just had to get that out. :o

If you've had a run of successful weeks and then suddenly have a slight gain or stay the same, DON'T STRESS! This is all normal. Just keep perfectly on plan, make sure you're doing what you already know works for you and focus ahead. Just keep moving and watching what you eat and drinking plenty of water. Don't stress or change what you're doing based on one or two weigh ins. Keep working and keep tracking and I can almost guarantee that you'll continue to see an overall downward trend for your weight.

Well, it's almost afternoon, but fairly productive day, so far

Workout: 15 min bike (up on the trainer), Walk the Plank, Zumba flat abs (20 min) 1 mile walk with 40 lb pack, 30 min bike ride outside (it's soooooooooooo sunny and only a little breeze) 100 bicycle crunches (I'll pay for this tomorrow), and 1 hour of raking the grass (still a lot of yard left . . . corner lot), Now off to cook some supper for work, Basa fish, sweet potato, salad and a few snacks for the night (NO JELLY BEANS)

Pokey & JoJo: I feel your frustration, when the scale goes up on me I think it makes me work harder because I'll be DA*NED if that scale is gonna put those pounds back on, especially after I've worked so hard. Just hang in there, drink LOTS OF H2O, eat on plan and ask SARGE to release some scale fairies . . . I didn't own a scale until about 2 1/2 months into this journey . . . and then I had to get my "head" straight that there would be MANY UPS & DOWNS . . . then I bought one

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!

Madamb Yes, I did eat the oatmeal, which is a good thing because soon as I finished half of hte 3rd cookies this AM I was feeling like I was going ot puke and the oatmeal helped stop that because it has extra fiber. I also took my cinnamon, fish oil blah, blah, blah right after eating the oatmeal to hopefully help digest the cookies better and even my blood sugar (im prediabetic and have pcs SOO YAAYY) carbs/sweets are kind of toxic to me because I am insulin resistant and dont test blood sugar /use insulin to manage my pre diabetes, the only medication I am on for it too is my vitamins so I kind of have to go by how I feel.

jojo WTG!

Pokey, occasional ups and downs are normal...sometimes if I jump on the scale before weigh in day ill find I gained 3 lbs or so, normally because im retaining water more than anything else, the other thing could be if you are exercising a lot then you might be eating too few calories.

chesire YIKES! get better soon! im the opposite, I dont have issues swallowing pills in fact I swallow all 10 of my pills of vitamins at once in the AM, I just stick em all in my mouth at once and drink drink drink water.

Sarge I know huh? Oh well...I figure this..if a car runs me over while im running on the sidewalk 1 at least it is their fault and 2 at least ill be a skinny person when they hit me! LOL kind of morbid but still! Also, yws sarge....stopping now...they are all having pizza tonight, I am not. My lunch this afternoon was popcorn but that is ok, I checked the nutritional facts...its a-ok for me to eat. Surprisingly popcorn is healthy.....who knew? btw love that photo:p

Peanutt- I agree

Everyone was yelling here so I took a nap, one I will be paying for later when its time to go to bed meh. I hate the helling and fighting. :\ Probably gonna go out walking later since it is suny or something...I still have homework to do though...we will see. Hugss all. Have fun!

So, I totally don't understand what's going on, but my weight spiked to 205 this morning. I have been between 1200-1400 calories every day and have been working out on a daily basis. What is this mess????

Don't get so stressed girl, you have just started running and you took a fall, your body is inflammed and working hard on fixing shop, so to speak, you aren't going to see a lot of benefit until your equilibrium gets balanced again and or you have a down day to allow for rest/healing. Trust me after whittling down nearly 170 lbs i've noticed a thing or two. Keep to the calorie restriction and maintain physical activity and you will head straight into the thick of it.

You know how i mentioned my joints hurting and needing more rest, yesterday i got on the scale and it was up a couple lbs, i know exactly why, my body is retaining in order to best protect itself, i've seen it literally dozens of times in the past, sometimes it will take a week or more to straighten out, sometimes less, i plan on relaxing my physical efforts slightly and increasing my sleep if possible while restricting calories to a minimum level ( this weight loss plan requires constant tweaking, sometimes i increase calories , sometimes it's a decrease, sometimes i need more exercise sometimes less, same for sleep and rest ), i'm positive it will do the trick, stress absolutely thwarts my weightloss, IMO. ( And getting on the scale and taking it to serious will cause more stress and actually make things more difficult, personally i am fine and don't get crazy over the number, if you find it a problem i suggest refraining from daily weighing and go with every few days or week instead. :)

This should apply to everyone. Don't have much time to comment right now but i noticed Cheshire is sick, i'm sorry about that :(, look at it as an opportunity to rest your body , you'll be ok if you keep your intake down, it might even be beneficial.

Maybe it's just time to cool it with the scale besides a once-a-week weigh-in.

Yup Pokey! Remember the story I told you about my spring break escapades? That is why we only weigh in once a week! Do and think like Resolute says. Seriously, the man has it figured out! Keep working!

Reso -- Can you give us a reminder of exactly how many pounds you lost and how long it took you to do it. And, if I'm correct, your incredible loss to date is an entirely "at home" effort, so to speak.

Think more spring everyone! Fog and gloom here makes Sarge crabby.

P.S. MadamB-- No gauntlet for me today. Sadly, it took me an hour to get my treadmill back in working order. It almost threw me twice this morning then went into full error mode. I fear I will be holding funeral services for it shortly.

I don't profess to be all knowing but i did have and have learned a few things along the way :dizzy: Don't get me started i usually boggle the minds of those who ask me about the science of it all, i'm very analytical so for me the best way to lose was to figure out the entire science of it all.

Yes i did it all myself, i put it all on myself as well. :o I'm not even sure just how long it's been Jaytee, i started out with education and went from there slowly over time. Maybe between 12 and 18 months with the bulk of the losses being in the last year.

I did a quick google on stress and weight loss, sure enough a fresh article from a day ago, i could of saved them some time had they just asked me. :p

Okay, that's it, I'll commit to a once-a-week weigh in.

Good news, I went to my current gym today to see about canceling to join at a different (cheaper) gym, and they dropped my price down to $9.95 a month to get me to stay. Score!

Reso - if you're trying to stay away from prescription sleep aids, melatonin works for me also. Another one that I've tried is 5-HTP. Helps with sleep and says it helps with appetite. And thanks for the article!

Sarge - come visit! It's a sunny, albeit breezy, 84 in Mesa, Arizona today.

Dear Resolute, You are my inspiration! This is how it should be I put it on and I should take it off...and it takes time! My friend reminded me of this last night. He said,
"How long did it take you to put the weight on?"

"Maybe 20 years," was my answer.

"Then, do you expect it all to come off in a week or two?"
OK, it seems time is an ingredient in weight management. Thanks for the reminder.P.S. Did my exercises, walk and proper eating. J.

Reso-- You are absolutely right on! When I started my journey I "owned" up to my weight. I was the one that put the weight on, and I'll be the one to take it off! Yes, there were stumbles along the way, especially being over age 50 it took me almost 4 weeks to re-set my metabolism from couch potato to blast furnace. Now, if I even think about sweating, I sweat and I LOVE IT!!!!!! We've talked about some of the bonuses before but NSVs (non-scale victories) are worth more than what a pound or two on the scale shows!

Yoyo--WTG on getting the exercise in and entertaining the grandkids!

DCap--YES!!!!! Non-scale victory at The Gap!

PokeyRUNNER--Thanks for the invite, but AZ was where I recently went "off" base! lol...(White Sox training and Blackhawks vs. Coyotes game and SO many spring break pounds!!!!)...not to mention the idea you gave me for my upcoming 55th...Vegas Baby! Yes, this slimmed down, AARP card toting, weight-losing birthday girl is looking forward to sitting poolside for the first time in about 7 years. Nice job on talking that gym into lowering your rate! Bartering is almost always option if you have the guts to ask!

Good evening all -- gotta go open the Mess Hall!

Thanks, all, for the general feedback regarding the scale and the benefit of your experience. I apologize for my complaints.

Rule number #1 Don't ever let the negativity and lack of immediate results bring you down or sway you from your course, you set sail on a journey and the time will pass regardless whether you give in or bear down, the only thing that changes a year from now is your physical and mental well being, you will either thank GOD you had the courage to stick with it and the faith in your heart to make it real or you will still be over weight and unhappy.

It's so simple, it just takes time and commitment is all. ONE DAY AT A TIME.

If Jabba the hut here can accomplish it i'm sure a group of beautifiul and intelligent women can, if i could i would hold each and every one of your hands and give you all the strength i could, but i can't it truly has to come from inside you, deep in your heart.

Guess which one is me, i had even lost weight already, :o , these pictures i share with you girls i am shameful to post but i resolve to never ever ever forget or give up ever again, i will die trying first.

Oh yeah Pokey thanks for the tip, i don't have a horrible sleep problem but lately i have been having a little difficulty and you are right in that i don't want to take any major drugs, i have enough problems maintaining a peaceful balance without those, will look into 5-HTP to see if it's something i could use, for now i'll just try out this melatonin to see if it helps when i have problems.

Reso - you remain an inspiration to me!!!! :) Thanks for continuing to "talk me down" as it were.

I'll usually cycle the melatonin and 5-HTP so I don't become immune to one or the other since they have the same effect on me. I LOVE the deep, restful sleep I get with Ambien, but my husband says I sleep walk and have attempted to drive while sleeping (I don't remember any of it - so bizarre!), so I don't do Ambien anymore. The melatonin and 5-HTP are enough to get me to sleep, which is where I need the help. Can't shut my mind off. :)

Dreamer - fantastic willpower! You should be proud, pizza has a potent scent, for sure. :) Way to go'

Thank you, as always. You know I admire your committment and your resolve, and that I have and continue to find it very inspiring. I always appreciate your willingness to share it so openly and readily with others, and thank you for doing so again here.

Just to clarify in general: I do not, nor did I ever, have any intention of giving up in any way, even momentarily. It's probably not clear given that I've just recently joined this group, but I am extremely committed to my weight loss, and that committment will remain through the ups and downs. This is not the first time I've seen them, and though my limited experience and my resolve over a few months doesn't mean much, slower weeks on the scale haven't deterred me once since I began my weight loss effort. I don't expect the weight to come off overnight, either. I posted about the scale this morning as a way to vent some general frustration. I know, logically, the reasons why the scale isn't moving quickly the past few weeks. And I'm truly ok with that. I am simply dealing with a lot of stress lately over things outside of my control, and the number on the scale is an easy, safe thing to take it out on. But, my weight loss, even when the progress is a bit slower, is providing substantial relief from other stressors in my life right now. It's the single thing that depends only on me, and it is gratifying to do it right, to do it consistently, and to do it well.

I had edited my original post this morning shortly after I made it and apologized for my negativity, but I should have deleted it entirely. I will try to remain cognizant of the fact that my momentary negatively can impact others here, and keep it to myself instead of venting it. I certainly know that everyone else here has their own stress and frustration, and I very much appreciate the upbeat mood that others bring to this thread every day despite whatever else is going on in their lives. It is my intent to bring positive energy to others here as well, and I apologize for having lapsed in that today.

ANYWAY... I need to stop babbling before Sarge's head explodes ;)

I'd say that tomorrow is a new day, but it's actually already tomorrow. :) I took advantage of my sleepiness this evening and went to bed at 8pm in the hope of making it until morning, but even the 5 hours of consistent sleep feels good and is really helpful. Starting my Friday early will mean I won't feel guilty leaving work early today, and I'm thinking that should mean time to shop! It's definitely time for some new clothes since all my pants are falling off at this point, and my favorite skirt from last summer no longer fits - which is much more sweet than bitter. :)

DREAMER: It's great that you can understand the reasons for your mom's lack of support. I hope it "clicks" for her at some point that she too can do this if she decides to. Nice job resisting the pizza!!! That one food in particular is always tough for me too - I still crave it!

Cheshirecat: I'm glad you were able to get a diagnosis and some antibiotics! Rest up this weekend, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

dcapulet: Awesome on the shirt :D

pokey: Ambien didn't work well for me either - it never helped me fall asleep, and no matter how much sleep I got I felt drunk the next day! Same with Lunesta. I will have to look into the melatonin and 5-HTP you suggested to resolute.

Time to make "dinner" - my poor husband still isn't home from work, and I intend to feed him well when he gets here and make it so he'll hardly notice that he's getting super lean ground turkey instead of ground beef in his tacos. Tacos aren't weird at 4am, right?? :dizzy:

Chickadee -- No apologies necessary. I don't know that you read all the posts yesterday, but there were several members of the platoon stressing over scale numbers instead of the fact that pants were fitting better, smaller sized GAP shirts were being purchased, first time pushups were being accomplished, runners were being born, 5Ks being planned, cholesterol levels were dropping, etc. etc. Funny comment about making Sarge read all the commentary tho!!!! You're a great fit to this platoon...we're in it for the long haul and it sounds like you are too! 4am taco bar...YUM!

I'm back! I went to Boston were I did fabulous and stayed on track, lost that 2 lbs i pledged 2 weeks ago, and am down another 2 so far this week. Down a total of 12 lbs!. Anyways when I got back from Boston, my internet was out and I wasn't due back to work till last night, which was incredibly busy so didn't get a chance to get back on! So I didn't get lost along the way thank God! Pledge for this past week I'll leave at 2, if I loose another 1 between today and Sunday..awesome...otherwise goal met! Next week I'm pledging 3, tried on some dresses while I was in Boston and man o man didn't like that mirror looking back at me, so I have a whole new outlook on this journey!:carrot: Hope all is well with everyone. I'll try to catch up on my reading...the new posts at least...and get back to everyone later tonight. I did Cardio Party today, have been running, not as much as I'd like but the weather's been narsty. Eating's been on track, vitamins taken, water almost done the 2L but will keep on drinking!

Good evening, everyone! Hope you all had a great day today.

Resolute, Sarge, and DREAMER, thank you very much for the understanding. I really appreciate it. (And I AM sorry for writing a novel, Sarge :D )

Cheshire: Glad you were able to get some decent sleep last night! I hope that by this evening you're feeling even better.

DREAMER: I'm super happy to hear your life wasn't threatened in one way or another today - that indeed makes for a good day. :D

MadamB: Good for you for giving your body a break from the rough stuff today, but still managing to get some activity in! And I'm glad my 4am tacos don't seem so unusual to you! :) They were really tasty, though I'm guessing not nearly as authentic as your roomate's tacos. It was nice having some quality time with my husband this morning - tacos and the morning news are a good combo

Peanutt: Have a wonderful birthday! :celebrate:

jojo: Fantastic news on the 1/2 inch, and even better that it's hips! My hips are my favorite spot to see dwindle. :D

Rainbow: Welcome back, and congratulations on the weight loss while on vacation! I am super impressed. I am new to this thread, but from reading everyone's posts here I can tell they have missed you A LOT. :)

Edit: And Murple, congratulations on losing on your vaction as well!! That really is impressive, and I'm sure it's a great feeling to come back and still be on track!

Sarge: Nice work on the crunches. I'm going to have to see if I can work toward catching up to you... I'm only doing about 125 right now, so I have a ways to go, but goals are good. :D

Today has been a good but hungry day! Getting up at 1am and having tacos this morning kind of threw me off my normal routine, lol. But, calories are still on-plan, and I will probably just have some leftover tacos after the gym tonight. I seem to have strained something a touch in my neck/shoulder on one side, and so though I had planned for today to be a weights day, I'm thinking I'll just do abs and lower body, and then get on the treadmill, saving the upper body work for tomorrow.

So, I went shopping tonight for the first time since starting the weight loss... and it was pretty awesome! It's highly embarrassing to tell anyone this, but my pants size used to be a 22/24, and so I figured I probably needed 20s now... and it took trying on about 10 pairs of pants before I just started grabbing the 18s instead, as the 20s were all too big! :carrot: I ended up with a pair of 18 jeans (LOVE them) and a pair of 16 pants :o The 16s are a little too snug in the butt still, but give me another few weeks and they'll look great. :D I also got three new bras in a smaller band size (I cannot overstate how badly I needed new bras), and two cute little half-cardigans to wear over tanks. It was such a good feeling to try on clothes and have them fit so well! I think it's the first time in a long time that I haven't wanted to cry in the dressing room.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday night. :)

Nice work Murps & Chickadee! Don't worry about those mirrors Murple. Soon enough you'll be back in there liking what you see! And Chickadee, you brought yet more meaning to Pants On the Ground...you left those 22/24 size pants on the ground in the corner of the dressing room and walked out with the 18! Score!

And overall, YES! We love having Rainbow back! She is good cop to Sarge's bad cop. Her glass is half full to Sarge's half empty canteen. And when Sarge gives you a kick in the a** Rainbow will hand you a band-aid and give you a hug!

Keep working all! Sarge will be incognito on Saturday so enjoy your last chance workouts!

Good luck on weigh-ins!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I got to bed at a decent hour last night and slept in this morning (I needed it badly!!), and just got back from a nice workout at the gym - abs, upper body, and the treadmill. I think my husband and I will be having dinner out tonight (we usually do on Saturdays), but if we go to our usual place my meal comes to less than 500 cal and so it's all good. Then I need to do some more work tonight - my boss and I have a grant proposal due on Tuesday and it's nowhere near done!

sizzlin: I am very glad to hear your little one is home and is doing better!! The scale may be reflecting a small weight gain and lots of water retention due to sodium, stress, too little sleep, etc. I am sure that once you're back in the swing of your normal food and exercise routine, you'll see the number drop off.

linalin and DREAMER: Get the water in! It will help with the water retention, and it also helps to keep away the feelings that seem like hunger but are just thirst. Eating less, weighing less, happiness all around! :)

MadamB: It's weird, I'll come home from working out and sit down with my husband for a few minutes, and he'll smell my head (he does that a lot) and say "You smell good." :o Um, no, I smell like sweat!

Have fun at the air show Rainbow, and enjoy your dinner party Sarge!

Scale fairies for all!!!

(and if someone could send a fairy that makes TOM disappear my way, I would REALLY appreciate it!)

The battle ensues. Today i got up early and walked, came home cleaned up went and did running around, returned, cleaned and vacumed the truck (finally) cleaned the house a bit , went for a second walk, i know i need to cut back but i can't i am having a terrrible time keeping my calorie intake down lately... thusly i have an urgent need to maintain my mobility at all costs, even if it means beating on my body :(.

Good news though, i checked my weight this evening and i'm down to 229, so i missed target :o but i still came away with something (2lb drop), if only i could get a grip on food again, i could relax and revitalize myself.

Just BBQ'ing and having a rye and ginger :p Wishing i had some good company to share the evening, but forever alone. Hmm, pretty sure my mood is on a downward spiral right now, got to hang on. Sorry girls, i just get lonely some times is all. :(

I got to sleep today!!!! Doesn't normally happen this way, cause the puppy isn't used to my crazy back assward sleep schedule. So, my other half didn't have work today so Murple got to sleep, woke up at 4pm and had saladworks for dinner with him. We then needed groceries so proceeded go to the food store which I've decided is a black hole, because by the time we got out of there (we needed food desperately and there I am checking the nutritional info on everything he or I put in the cart lol) it was 10 minutes till I usually left for work. So we went home, I packed my dinner for work of a salad with grilled chicken (i pre cook it earlier in the week), these new fiber plus bars (coconut caramel something or other, 120 cals 4 g fat 2 g protein and 35% of daily fiber; plus tastes like a freaking girl scout cookie, Samoas to be exact), and greek yogurt with my new found "granola" (kashi go lean crunch honey almond flax, 1/2 c for 100 cal, 2.5 g fat (i think) and like 5 g protein). And random other snacks like veggies (i'm obssessed with the steam fresh thingys throw them in the microwave and bam lol delish) so all in all doing well today. Vitamins I forgot as I was rushing to get out the door to get to work on time, but I'll take them tomorrow! Water I'm right on target to get it all down by the end o my shift. Didn't workout today, but will run in the am when I get home, maybe do a video too if I get time. Work tomorrow night also! Hope everyone's day is going good!

Resolute: Maybe your appetite lately is because your body is trying to heal itself? Please try to treat it a little gently for a few days if you can. You have come so far, and slower loss for a week or two won't be more than a blip on the radar in your journey to your goal.

And, none of that "forever alone" stuff, mister! I am not at all trying to minimize how you are feeling, but please don't let yourself forget all those looks and smiles and compliments you've been getting from pretty women. And that's only the exterior they've been responding to; in addition to being very handsome (I'd go further than that, but I imagine it would embarrass you), you are kind, generous, open, sincere, intelligent, well-spoken, and a pleasure to talk to. And let's not forget that you're employed and you own a home and a vehicle - that sounds silly, but you'd be surprised how many men just do not have their life so well put together. And you COOK! You, my friend, are QUITE a catch, and I suspect that one day very soon you'll be singing a different tune.

Murple: Funny, I tried something as well today that tastes like Samoas: a Luna bar in the new chocolate dipped coconut flavor. I had it before I went to the gym for the protein, and holy moses - it was so good.

Thankyou for your kind words chickadee, i try not to let it bother me but it gets to me at times, looking to do better always.

When i sink in spirits i tend to dwell on the negatives and lose focus.

Perhaps you are right about my increased appetite ? I never really thought about it in that light, one day it was sweets the next meat cravings, yet again yesterday it seemed to be carbs and meat, it's draining trying to assuage the increase in appetite against my will and desire to lose more weight, i have so much of my core being put into this desire it is near impossible for me to alter or relinquish any control, that which took the greatest effort from me in my life to date.

I will try and refocus some of my pent up anxiety to a more worthy cause and be greatful for what i have.

Morning all! We have some nice results rolling in already and I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday morning. It's mid 70's and sunny here in Chicago and it's about time!

Reso--I agree with Chicakadee about you being a "catch." Like your weight loss journey, one step at a time! BTW, have you ever seen the 1955 movie classic "Marty?"

ASF -- Awesome weight loss this week! Boxing is becoming more and more popular these days and I would think it makes you fee invincible.

Loco -- Going back to school! That's absolutely great! Good luck on getting all that paperwork complete. I know the whole acceptance and registration process these days is kind of a whirlwind nightmare.

Murple & Chickadee -- your discussion of girl scout cookies made me laugh this morning. I'll spare you all the details of the dinner party I had catered last night as a result of submitting the winning bid at a charity auction. Let's just say the words "decadent" and "extreme" were used in the dessert descriptions. Yummmmmm!

Keep those numbers rolling in troops! Sarge has to go take a couple of aspirin and clean his pup tent.

Good morning everyone! A 1.8 lb loss for me this week Sarge. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming week. I just purchased a treadmill yesterday and it's now up and running..just did my first workout on it!! I plan on using at least 5 days per week, 30 minutes each time. It's iFit compatible so I'm thinking about purchasing the necessary accessories for because it sounds kind of cool to be able to have Jillian Michaels yelling at me through my treadmill :)

So..I pledge 2 lbs for this week Sarge!

No i haven't, i just looked quickly on IMDB and it looks like it would be a touching watch, probably make me cry :p , best leave this one for a time of less tumultuous inner strife.

On a positive note i did lose another 2 lb's and dropped into the 220's i should be more appreciative about this, sometimes i have a hard time believing what it is i weigh compared to before, yet i still need to lose. :dizzy:

I will do a walk this morning shortly than maybe go visit with my brother and his family, put some new mud flaps on the truck ( he has a garage :p) and just catch up on life, should take it easy this evening but might clean a bit more, floors need washing again, can't stand when they are dirty, will prepare something to help with this weeks meals ( first couple days anyways) , maybe pepper steak and rice might be nice, haven't made that for a long time.

Glad your weather is pleasing Jaytee, it's actually very nice here also. :)

I've made mistakes, thats for sure, ain't that what your life is for ? Happy baby....

60 minutes minimum exercise daily.
1400 cal max daily.
Lose 1.6 pounds this week.

Afternoon Platoon.
I've been checking up on you guys but mostly I've been lying around trying to sleep and eat. LOL.

I am down this week, but I know it's due to the fact I'm dehydrated and I can't eat without it hurting. So I'm going to skip this weigh in because it's due to illness not so much anything I did.

Hopefully I'll be back at it come Monday...oh I hope so. I missed a whole week of running and my half is in 3 weeks. I really did not need to miss my long run this week...but life is what it is.

Good job to the losses this week.

Murple- We totally just got those fiber bar things at the store today too!! I was check it out, it's a Samoa with fiber! Score.

Loco-Great for going back to school, good luck getting it all put together! What are you going back for?

ASF-great job with the weight loss. Boxing does sound like a fun activity! Really lets out that stress!

ZooChick-Yay for new exercise toys! Have fun with your new treadmill.

Reso-You are only allowed to wallow in self-pity for a few! (tough love from me to you) You better be a bit more chipper tomorrow if not by tonight! I know music and movies really affect my moods. Don't know if they would help you. Oddly, when I am feeling melancholy it helps to listen to sad ballads and chick flicks I know will make me cry. I guess it's like purging the emotion out of me.
Anyhoo-get some sunlight, totally do a happy dance for getting into the 220s!! Awesome man!

OKay, it's nap time for me again. Hopefully I'll be raising the bugle again on Monday morning.

Hey all just checking in...huge migraine today needless to say...run cancelled. Yesterday I was freaking out trying to figure out how I had gained 4 lbs in a week cause thats what the scale said...today it said I was only up 1 lb WHEW! I will take the 1 lb up over the 4 lbs up ANY DAY! I want to pledge 3 lbs for next week. Doubt I will make it, but a girl can try! :D

Start weight was 241.4, and today's weight is 238.1, so I am happy to report a 3.3 lb loss! :carrot: Glad the drop came on the right day. :D

Sarge, please put me down for another 3 lbs next week! I have only 8.1 more pounds to go to hit 50 lbs lost and my weight when I got married 7.5 years ago, and I am determined to make it there within the next month!

Coco: Very exciting - good luck getting everything together for school! What type of program are you applying to?

ASF: That's a huge loss! Congratulations!

Resolute: It's ok that it gets to you sometimes - that happens to us all. Do you ever wish you could go back and give a hug to yourself at some of your low moments before your weight loss, and tell your old self that really - in just a short 18 months your life will be completely different? That was the hug I wanted to give you last night. I can see where your future is headed, and in another 18 months your life will look different and wonderful in ways that it's hard to imagine today. Sorry to be so sappy, but it's true. And as to your appetite, I really can imagine just how tough it is trying to fight it and give your body a break when you have devoted every ounce of strength and self-control you possess to making your weight loss a success. You'll come out of this stress just fine no matter what, it just might happen a little faster if you give yourself a tiny break and some rest. Have a great time visiting with your family today. :)

Sarge:  at "extreme" in the dessert descriptions! It sounds like your dinner was amazing! It seems like being 'good' in food choices 95% of the time must make meals like that even more spectacular. :)

zoochick: I am really envious of the treadmill!!!! How cool!! If I had one I think (hope?) I would want to be on it all the time. I know some people find it boring, but I LOVE being on the treadmill at the gym. Have fun using it this week!!

kris: Way to hop back on the wagon. Make this week great!! :)

Cheshire: I am glad to hear you're getting the rest you need. I have no doubt you'll catch up with the running as soon as you've shaken the illness. I hope you're feeling much improved tomorrow!

rainbow: Congratulations hitting your huge 4 lb loss goal for this week!! That's amazing, and I continue to be impressed by all of you who lose weight on vacation! I love your idea for zoochick, by the way, with walking/running/biking to some place you'd like to visit. I may have to start recording my miles on the treadmill and on my walks for that purpose. Hmm... where would I go if I could go anywhere I wanted? (Too many places to list, is the answer)

DREAMER: I'm glad the scale was back down today, and I think setting a high but attainable goal is a great way to start the new week. Yours is the same as mine: let's do it! :)

I worked on my grant proposal until almost 6am last night/this morning, and there's still lots more work to do today, but getting to the gym or going for a walk this afternoon/evening will be a nice, energizing mental break. I was happy to realize as I was reading everyone's posts today that I'm more envious of zoochick's treadmill than Sarge's awesome meal. That makes me feel like I've come pretty damn far in the past 3 months! :D

Hope everyone enjoys the end of the weekend!

You are right, it is horrible the self pity, i have many things to be thankful for including the camaraderie of a group of wonderful ladies right here.

I also get swept up in music and movies, :dizzy: got some sun, an extra extra long walk, over 2 hours i think, just heading out now.

JayTee : I did some figuring and i'm almost dead on track for hitting my June first onederland goal, it's really getting to be crunch time though, put me down for 4 lbs this upcoming week, i have to pull out the stops from today if i am going to have a shot at it i think...

Chickadee : That is awesome, your 3.3 lb drop, sticking through the bad days is tough, i know, but eventually with enough fortitude and conviction results have to and do show up.

This time it's for real. :)

JojotheYoyo reporting 1 pound lost, Sir!

Sorry I was absent on Sat. I was caught up in the opening of the Los Angeles Renaissance Faire. Great Fun.

I am cautiously pledging that final pound for next week. J.

Epic scale fail this week. I'm up 5 pounds this morning which, logically, doesn't make sense. I worked out harder than usual this week and because I was so into working out, I stuck in my calorie range everyday because it seemed stupid to throw away all of my exercise work by overdoing it on calories.

However, because I am only human, I'm assuming that my body is confused by the change up in routine? Maybe?

I'm not letting it deter me. For the first time ever, I spike on the scale makes me want to work harder, not give up.

So I'll pledge 5 pounds for this week and work super hard!

OK, I am only slightly confused! Did I report my loss on the right day? I don't recall what day the weigh-in was supposed to be... Geee, I wonder why???
I am sooo trying to lose that obsession!

Ok, I think I figured it out. (Went back and read page 1.) If we report out intended weekly loss on Sunday; we probably report our weight lost for the week on Saturday night or Sunday. Correct?

Love to you all. I am so glad to be a member of this determined group!

rainbow: Congratulations hitting your huge 4 lb loss goal for this week!! (Too many places to list, is the answer)

chickadee....i started tracking my bike ride on a map i taped ot the wall...3 years ago...i was riding everyday before i got sidetracked and gained my weight back...i live in sc, and wanted to go to prince edward island...so i made a deal with my dear hubby that if i cycled there, he would take me...so the ride was on!! it was so much fun tracking my miles with a red marker on the map...i rode up the coastline...and each week, at the end of the week, the town i had biked to, i went online to look up the area...and find out something interesting about "where in the world is rainbowsmiles"!! i can tell you, seeing that map on the wall REALLY INSPIRED me to ride more and more. i kept thinking, ok, only 20 more miles and i will be "here"....i rode over 1500 miles from jan 1st until july 1st...and then enjoyed my trip to PEI....which was a lifelong dream of mine to go to the anne of green gables house!! this year, i am biking to brighton england....with plans to go in july 2013. i have so far biked from sc to boston ma, and nearly 150 miles out to sea....!!! its a lot of fun tracking!! keep us posted on your miles!!

So today was pretty busy, didn't eat a whole lot so far making pepper steak right now, but finally put on my new mud flaps, i'm so happy, one had fallen off during the winter and it was bothering me awful, felt like some lazy bum all the time when i was driving around

OK so i'm maybe not the fastest, still the tires even have to come off to get at them and i know it's done right, it should be though, probably took me 4 or more hours. :p

I am damned and determined to have another above board week, hoping my trending loss of every other week a substantial loss occurs - reoccurs this week.

Gratuitous pics of my handiwork. :D and yummy pepper steak cooking up. :p

Rainbow : I think that is very cool that you chart progress on a map like that, i might even think about doing that myself just for giggles. :) See where i can end up virtually.

Pokey : If you stayed on plan calorie wise and kept with being busy doing physical activity it's just your body holding onto water and whatever else it does, you keep at it and once you start healing up a bit you should have a substantial drop over a few days i'm guessing.

Sizzlingina : You know most of that weight will drop once you get into a normal routine again. :p Pledge away girl, you can do it.

kneed2lose : Great progress ... and medical school, nice, i have a little greater appreciation for those that would endeavor to help others in their time of need lately. After my recent hospital visit.

Keep it up troopers. Time to mount a new offensive.

ATTEN' HUT PLATOON!

We made almost 70% of platoon goal for the week with some privates still to report in or reported AWOL. Nice job considering we had some mishaps and the usual stressful stuff life throws at us to derail our best intentions at times!

However, as Resolute said, it's time to mount a new offensive! It's Monday! What better day to start anew!?!?!?!

Summer is right around the corner. There are smaller short sizes waiting to be worn which will flatter our shrinking butt-ers and sleeveless shirts which will emphasize our well-toned arms! There are 5Ks and Half Marathons to run which require further training. There are soul mates to meet, healthier lives to live, jobs to secure, children to conceive, and naysayers to prove wrong!

SO, LET'S GET AT IT!!!!! IT'S BACK TO THE GYM! LET'S HIT OUR PLATOON GOAL THIS WEEK! BooYah!

Hey all--thanks for the concern, but all is good on the home front. Had one kid in panic attack mode yesterday over computer meltdown with entire semester of homework/notes lost to cyberspace, but nothing a drive down to campus and visit to the nearest Apple store with 16 minutes to spare before closing couldn't fix. Sarge can drive pedal to the metal in crisis mode, but Phew!!!!

Then, once again, Sarge is awfully glad you are all here...it was tough to get going this morning, but right here at Boot Camp I found all the motivation I needed:

--Cheshire back on the mend with bugle in hand!
--Reso whipping up some excellent looking nutritious skirt steak!
--Peanutt inching closer to One-derland and enjoying her birthday! Bonus!
--A newly enrolled private...welcome again Hummingbird!
--Sizzilin begging Sarge to allow her to pledge big pounds!
--Rainbow virtually biking the universe AND back at her computer with pretty colors, extra decorations, and making everyone feel so darn good about themselves!
--MadamB still meltin butt-er and dripping goo all over me...(btw, post in purple workouts...let's show 'em how it's done!)
--DeCap & Dreamer hanging in there big time, checking in, vowing a strict regime for the week!
--Kneed2lose dropping pounds AND tending to her medical school classes
--Yoyo breaking her scale habit. We'll see how long that lasts...lol
--Zoochick assembling a new treadmill and vowing to use it 5x weekly!
--Kris vowing to dig out of the mini pot hole she sank into!
--Chickadee on a mission to "Drop 8 by Anniversary Date"... most excellent!
--NEMom vowing to exercise more this week and go once again above and beyond the call of duty!
--And Pokey picking herself up, dusting herself off, and running more miles this week!

Reading all of that great news meant things were well in the universe so I should really get my a** to the gym...so I did!

For our runners...here's an image to add to the list of those helping us cross finish lines. Also, the image just brings a smile to my face.

I did not let my awful, awful weigh in stop me this morning. Got right out of bed and hit the gym to finish Week 2 Day 1 of C25k plus 30 minutes on the elliptical. I have that 5k on the 4th of July staring me in the face! Plus, I only see my family once a year at the 4th of July, and how I'd love to get off the plane and have everyone surprised that I've actually lost weight!!!

YAY POKEY!!!!! Btw, somewhere I read your mention about being a "washed up rodeo queen" which made me chuckle. We hang our hats in Wyoming quite a bit and I've had the opportunity to barrel race while inebriated...a fond memory of my younger days which would now result in hip surgery!

YOU WILL LOOK AMAZING RUNNING ACROSS THAT FINISH LINE ON JULY 4th!

pokeycactus
04-11-2011, 02:47 PM
Hahah, oh yes, I've done a lot of stupid horse-related things while inebriated. During my various reigns, I'd travel around with another girl and our two horses, and to "save money" we'd camp out at the rodeo grounds so we could hit consecutive day performances - conveniently, the cowboys also camped at the grounds. The guys were all too willing to provide a couple of rodeo queens with free beer...

I need a royal butt kicking :(

I am having some drama from my mom the past few days, added onto the normal stress of being alone with the kids... and I am getting plain ol' depressed. I canceled my personal training this morning and totally skipped the gym. I am already trying to talk myself out of going tomorrow! I don't like this funk I'm in...

Now I need to do twice the workout tomorrow, and I can't even talk myself into doing the normal one.

I need to kick up my routine anyway, I don't think I'm doing enough to work off what I need to.

Ahh... I'm such a downer today. I think I need to just go to bed

Hello everyone :)

Today was a good day, full 8 hours at work then got in an energized walk, feel pretty good.

Linalin : So what ? You had one bad day, tomorrow you need not worry about making up for anything, just need to make sure you get back into the right state of mind and back on track, even if you have to force yourself, you will feel better for it and feed off it, if you don't you will feel worse and be poisoned by it. It's the truth.

Pokey : :T Man food...mmmm meat, :D bleh anyways, pepper steak is kind of misleading in that it is rather rich for a mostly vegetable dish, it's easy to make but pretty high in sodium thanks to the soya sauce.

Yesterday i used one can of beef broth ( actually i had to use OXO because i had none :p same thing basically ) portobello mushrooms, crimini mushrooms, onions, tomatos, green peppers, yellow peppers, red peppers, garlic cloves, one table spoon of olive oil to help brown the meat ( all 400grams, not much really ) and one table spoon of margarine in with the veg after the meat was cooked, usually i will use stewing meat but i think i accidentally pulled out some decent steak :p

Once everything is cooked you add a mixture of water (1/2 cup) soya sauce (1/2 cup) and cornstarch (3 TBSP) to the mixture bring to boil and let simmer for a bit, let cool and it will thicken. spoon onto rice and it's yummy. :dizzy: I'm sure your husband would like it and it's not to bad besides the sodium.

Sometimes i make a rice dish with egg and bacon, adding a sauce mixture of brown sugar and soya sauce mixed together, it's delicious but probably not so good for you.

Resolute - thanks for the recipe! I think my husband would definitely like it. It's been a challenge finding things he likes that are still good for you. He doesn't have a weight problem - never has - but heart disease runs in his family. His dad had a heart attack and resulting pacemaker at 46 years old! Eeesh.

Anyway, I'm constantly on the lookout for healthy but hearty stuff to make for us, and this looks great! Thanks again, you're awesome :)

Busy day today. Just got home from work a few minutes ago, and will be up working most of the night. I had zero opportunity to exercise today, but should be done with work tomorrow at a reasonable time in the evening and will be looking forward to getting to the gym. Was on plan calorie-wise today, I just haven't consumed enough yet (though I did remember to eat everything I brought to work with me this time :) ). I plan to eat some nuts, yogurt and fruit tonight while I work to make sure I get all my nutrients in today.

Hope everyone had a productive start to the week. :)

Okay, I am in a mellow mood. I have been listening to this song non-stop these last few days, so of course I have to share.

http://youtu.be/j7pEg3KXNcs

Ahhh, doesn't it just make you happy and squishy inside?

BUT, don't get lulled back to sleep, get on your feet and MOVE IT!

Linlin-Pull it together! Get out there and just start walking, you can't get the happy endorphins if you just slump around all day. No excuses--you can do something.

Sarge-I am doing a 1/2, not this weekend though. LOL. On April 30th. So it's getting close. And I did go to bed early too.

I got a fancy dancy new scale for my birthday and I'm adjusting my current weight to what I weighed in at this morning on the new scale. The old one was pretty inaccurate, giving +/- up to 2 lbs each time you stepped on (within moments of each other). Just for kicks I stepped on the scale 6 times in a row this morning and got the exact same result 5 of the 6 times. The sixth weight was only 0.2 lbs different.

So, I'm further away from onderland now, but I have more confidence in my new scale AND it measures body fat, visceral fat, skeletal muscle, etc. which will help me watch my progress in all those other ways too.

Cheshire--Get to bed early tonight while you're still in recovery! Did I read earlier in these posts that you're running a 1/2 marathon this weekend or was I hallucinating?

Linalin -- WTH!!!! This is for you:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_asVoklzMmQ4/TSH5fNWLYkI/AAAAAAAAFDo/IO_ao5k-tpk/s1600/whining.jpg
Tomorrow is a chance to start again with a better attitude! DO IT! You'll be happy you did! Don't make me issue another virtual kick in the a**! (Being a pain in the *** mom myself and vividly recalling caring for young kids on my own at times I do sympathize, but you have to do this for YOU!) Don't let Sarge hear about canceling a personal trainer again! Sarge knows how to get to Virginia!

Pvt Yoyo reporting: Yesterday, I did my 1 hour walk and stayed on the diet, except for 10 almonds: (just plain.) I read that some people eat them on this diet. I don't think it is gonna work for me... felt bad after.
Also was horrifed at the store! There is sugar in chili. Some canned peas have sugar. Turkey bacon has sugar. Eeeeeeeeeek! I starting to only feel safe with fresh foods, cooked by me.:fr:

lol madam....i hate taking photos of myself!! i deleted the post because i just hate seeing full shots of me! haha ugggg even at 63 pounds gone...even so!
bike to chicago and pick up sarge then head to sc!! woohoo nigel still has not found employment and so we are uncertain of many things right now but i will continue to bike across the ocean to england!! keep hope alive! haha

peanutt...i heart sweet potato fries...and bake them often!! sometimes i splurge and sprinkle them with some powdered suger while they are still warm!! yummmmm i love the way roasted veggies brings out the natural sweetness!!

sarge sir...i am not pledging poundage this week....trying to learn how to maintain but failing at the present! yesterday was dh birthday, and i held on to part of that "little engine that could" train fund...to take him out to his favorite, olive garden, and oh my but sarge i am ashamed i was a piglet. its been a very very long time since we have even been out to eat and i truly forgot how delicious olive garden is!! oh my!! i was going to try 4 weeks maintenance, but have decided to try 2 weeks instead and then back at it. i am struggling feeling guilty after lasts night dinner! nigel had 3 job interviews while we were in fla, which is why we stayed longer, but no word back. it just is begining to weigh on me and i am really truly tired. even so i press on. off to ride my exercise bike, as it is raining so the road bike is out for today.

Rainbow -- I too admit to being a "piglet" for the past two days so you're in good company! There, I said it! I was on a calorie cheating, omg, that tastes as good as I remember it plan for 48 hrs. HOWEVER, it's time to get back on board that train! I'm not saying full steam ahead like we were all trying in the Biggest Loser Challenge, but even working toward a pledge of a pound or two a week is going to keep you moving in the right direction. Why try to move into maintenance mode if you're not at a weight you want to maintain yet...just saying...AND we miss your enthusiasm if you're not fully engaged! Good luck on that job front for the hubby. I have a feeling that something is going to come of those interviews...I feel it.

Peanutt--Yummmmmm to veggie burgers! I also tried salmon burgers for the first time last week. equally yummy. I also treated myself to a new scale recently. Not only does it weigh me in at 5 lbs. less, it also has large print readout and tracks ounces...thank god!

MadamB---you got that right. I'm gonna catch up to those 400 crunches soon! Biking to Chicago and then to SC...great idea! I see that your hometown isn't too far from Eau Claire. My daughter's volleyball team occasionally gets up that way...you just never know when Sarge might show up on your doorstep!

Dreamer--thank goodness your migraines have passed and excellent news on the weight loss! Keep those running legs motoring!

Yoyo -- I have to agree with you. Since starting this healthier lifestyle I have been spending much more time in the kitchen preparing my own food. I know it takes longer, but it tastes so much better and I'm in complete control of what's in it!

DCap--time to kick it up a notch or Sarge has a different kind of kick for you!

Have a great butt-er melting afternoon all!

What cardio workouts do you beautiful people enjoy doing?? :woops:

Peanutt.: ONEderland is so close!!! Thats so amazing! keep up the great work!! I just got a new scale too and feel so much better about it...not exactly sure how to work it yet, but still excited! :D

Pokey: You're so close to ONEderland too!!! :carrot: how is your C25k going?? Im thinking about starting this week.

Lucyford: WOW! Congrats!!! 3 lbs is amazing!!! Keep it up!!!:cp:

Hummingbird :welcome3: to the Platoon!! I just joined recently and these lovely people have definitely kept me motivated! =)

Sarge: I LOVE your motivational pictures/sayings/articles! Thank you! Hope everything is ok at home with the internet meltdown.

Resolute and Cheshire....Norah Jones is soooooo calming! i love her! Resolute...hope youre doing well after your hospital visit =)

Rainbow: Hats off to you for being able to go on vacation and get your exercise in, that is truly so amazing to see your dedication! I would have to agree with Sarge about the maintenance. Granted i havent lost a lot of weight, but I would get to the weight you want to be at and then try to maintain. You are on a roll! You can do it! We are all cheering for you! :cheer:

linalin:I have had so many days like that where I'll get into drama with my mom or sister and then all i want to do it sit there and not do anything, but take that frustration and let it out on the elliptical or treadmill. Remember...working out increases your endorphins....and endorphins make you happy!! The hardest part is getting out of the house or even getting off the couch! Next time try popping in a workout video at home!

Madambutterfly:CONGRATS on conquering that hill!!:ebike:

SMSdreamer:Glad your migraine is done! What were you taking for it? Next time...try to stay hydrated, and take excedrin with redbull. The red bull will speed up the excedrin.:)

Hope everyone continues to have a fabulous week! You all motivate me soo much!!!

I was looking into getting some whey protein and I came across Jay Robbs website and he had some pretty motivational words: http://www.jayrobb.com/books/jay-robb-3-step-shape-up-plan.asp#step1

Here is some of it: (( Sorry I know its kind of long! ))

STEP 1 – SHAPE YOUR THINKING

My job is to get you in the best shape of your life—both inside and out—and the first step is to help you gain control over your thoughts. The way you think determines your destiny in life and is reflected by you and your surroundings. I feel that most people do not realize his or her full potential because they have NO CONTROL over their thoughts. To get in your best shape requires you to have control over your thoughts. Thought control is the trait ALL successful people possess.

We struggle in life because of the way we think. Our thoughts create our reality. What we believe is what we get. Take a look around you right now. Do you like the way you look? Do you like your friends? Your home? Your job? Your financial status? Your life in general? If not, then I have GOOD NEWS! Follow my 3 steps below and it will change your life forever.

Part One: See the Vision

A vision is like a goal but more vivid because you can clearly see it. A vision is a picture in the mind that you focus on. A vision is a target that you automatically gravitate towards, as long as that vision exists.

To create a vision is easy. Very easy. Just sit down and close your eyes and let your thoughts settle. Just relax. Now simply dream about looking your best. Don't be bashful. DREAM! You dreams will soon be your reality, so dream with passion!

Very clearly, see yourself looking your absolute best. Your hair, your face, your body. See the shape, the skin tone and every facet of your body. If you are a woman, see how your tummy will look, your arms, your rear end, your hips and your thighs. If you are a man, see your pecs, your biceps, your abs, your shoulders, your thighs, and your calves. Get a clear picture and keep this in your mind. This vision is a glimpse of what will soon be reality and is what every cell in your body is now VISUALLY PROGRAMMED to create.

The mind is your GPS system and with this vision your body automatically KNOWS what it needs to do to make your vision reality. Without this vision, you are like a ship without a rudder. Without a vision, your mind is in charge, and it will allow you to drift through life in whichever direction your mind wishes to take you. You will be influenced by advertising, friends, parents, loved ones, magazine ads, TV, radio, the news, and the weather. You will float about, never being in control of your actions. Why? Because you have let your mind take you for a ride. You are asleep and mind is in charge. And many times, the ride your mind takes you on is not a dream but a nightmare.

Once you realize your vision, focus on it. Never let this vision fade. See it clearly. Be so in tune with it that at any moment you close your eyes, you can see this vision of yourself, how happy you are, how active you are, how energized you are, and how fantastic you look.

Part Two: Settle Your Thoughts

Your mind is your friend if you have control over your thoughts. Your mind is your enemy if you have no control over your thoughts. Keeping your thoughts settled and managed is easy. All that is required is for you to be quiet for 15 minutes each day. That's it. Just like that car insurance commercial says, only in this case, "15 minutes can save you 15 years on your life." I'm talking about basic meditation here. I'm not teaching a religion or a philosophy. I'm teaching you a technique, a technique that can settle your thoughts, give you peace of mind, end your frustrations, and change your life in just three short days.

Meditation is easy and effective, but you MUST do it daily for the magic to happen. The magic will be subtle, similar to walking in a heavy mist. At first you notice very little but eventually the heavy mist begins to penetrate and soak into your clothing.

To meditate, sit down on a comfortable chair. A firm chair, such as a kitchen chair is ideal. Sit with your back comfortably straight. Close your eyes and place your focus between your eyebrows. Now just breathe, following your breath coming in and going out. That's it.

To allow yourself to meditate without giving any thought to time, a simple technique I use is to set a kitchen time for 15 minutes and place it in another room. By doing this, I can relax completely. You may also wish to sit on a formal meditation pillow and mat as is practiced in Zen, Buddhism, Hinduism, Transcendental Meditation (TM), Yoga, and various religions worldwide. Again, I am NOT teaching a religion here. I am teaching you a technique that will change your life.

Part Three: Get Centered

In reality, positive and negative are just two sides of the same coin of life. If there is a positive, there is a negative. The ideal is to be neutral; neither positive nor negative. I have heard a lot of people raving about the power of positive thinking. But what is positive thinking? And what is positive? I feel that positive thinking is really "no thinking" or no thoughts because that is the most positive thing you can do. Trying to think and make things "happen" for you with positive thoughts can be a problem because it sets you up for disappointment. Like goal setting, positive thinking can work, but it may not get you where you need to be in the order you need to get there.

Instead of trying to create things in your life, focus on your vision and let life unfold before you. As life opens doors, walk through them without fear. Goals and positive thinking can sometimes coax you into trying to open a door and walk through it before nature opens it. Timing is everything. In fact, timing is critical to your peace of mind and your success at anything. Just like a fine wine, nothing should come before its time.

Neutral thinking stops you from ever being disappointed. Anytime you have something you are striving for (don't confuse this with a clear vision that unfolds automatically without you forcing the action), there can be struggles and challenges. I should be doing this, or I should be doing that. Why am I still overweight? Why am I out of shape? These are all thoughts that are silly because they are not a reflection of reality. These thoughts are a reflection of how you "believe" things are. In reality, you are not overweight or underweight. You just weigh a certain number of pounds. That is it. If your current weight does not match your vision, then there are no worries. You are already doing everything you can at the present moment to see your vision become reality. No need to force the action. Just see the vision and step through the doors that life opens along the way.

There is no need to be positive or negative. Be neutral and let life show you the way—and in its order, not yours. Time does not exist. There is only order. Be neutral and surrender to the order of life. Time disappears when you are doing instead of thinking. When you are just doing, and you forget about the doer, life becomes a dream come true. Everything you need to help you realize your vision will come your way—in its own order. Stop beating yourself up. Forget about yourself. See the vision and watch miracles happen—one step at a time.

STEP 2 – SHAPE YOUR EATING

You are what you eat, (at least in the physical sense), which is why it is CRITCAL that you eat natural foods. Exercise is not the best way to lose weight. Exercise is, however, important for toning your muscles and for getting your body physically fit. Your DIET (not exercise) is your best means for losing weight and keeping it off. Never indulge in the erroneous thought that exercise is your weight-loss elixir. It is not. What you eat is what you get. Every bite of food you take and everything you drink creates the physical you. I will show you the foods to eat that will make you look like a million dollars (before taxes) and I will also show you foods that will make you look fluffy, puffy, and bankrupt.

Kneed2lose: I LOVE C25k. I use different podcasts though, I like more popular music rather than just that house music techno-y stuff.

And as far as cardio goes, I'd recommend that program and Zumba! I love, love, love Zumba. I go to classes, I do it at home via the Playstation Zumba game, and I also find routines I like on youtube.

I also found a dvd I like called Aero Barre. It's cardio ballet boxing. Neat concept and a fun workout to do.

ETA: You're super close to ONEderland too, and I know Peanutt is achingly close as well - hopefully we'll all be on the other side soon!

Rainbow Susan!

I've been thinking about your earlier post. I'm with Sarge on this one. I think you need to keep pushing along and making progress towards your goal, even if you let up and give yourself a break for a week or two to refresh and "catch your breath" so to speak.

I think it's fantastic that you've had the opportunity to celebrate your hubby's birthday with him. I just took the weekend off myself and enjoyed every minute of it and every single one of those 3 chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting! ;) Those days off are CRUCIAL to staying on plan and on track for the long haul.

I understand the pressures and stresses of life weighing us down. But please remember that it's so much easier to KEEP a train moving once it's going rather than trying to start a stopped train. If your train keeps rolling right along the track, adding a few more pounds of cargo (i.e. stress) isn't going to slow you down as much as it would if you were trying to start that heavier stopped train.

Kneed -- Nice additional motivation article and I'm glad you enjoy the photos and stuff. One of these days I'll get a life and spend less time bouncing around the internet, but until then...

VickieL-- Sarge added your pledge in below! WTG on the on plan butt-er meltin day!

Peanutt -- Thanks for adding your thoughts to keep Rainbow pushing that train while it's still moving! Your advice is right on point especially if you factor in the mental health benefits if other stressors are coming at you from all angles. BTW Peanutt, with regard to the scale issue, personally I'm thinking blinders are a better solution than holding the readout closer to my eyes! lol.

Pokey--I'm loving that you're checking in so frequently. Do you hear or see Sarge in the back of your head yet if you even think of falling off the wagon?

Sarge done for day: 1150 cals burned (stairmaster&treadmill) + free weights + and get this MadamB... 300 CRUNCHES!

Reporting in, sarge! I'm here!

Still feeling slumped, working on fixing! Reporting to trainer at 0800! Then not leaving until my butt's walked AT LEAST 2 miles UPHILL. ANd if it's not raining, then my butt (and my toddler's very tiny butt) are walking miles around the park until I pass out.

NEED TO GET BACK ON THE BALL. SLUMPING MAKES ME FEEL WORSE THAN I DID TO BEGIN WITH! No sense in just ADDING to it!

Thank you all for virtual @$$kicking & motivation! Only 4 days left to lose my 2! OFF I GO!
Will come back to do personals tomorrow!

I acquired a new best friend this week. And oddly enough just a short 2 days ago my bff was my worst enemy! You guessed it! The scale! Down 5 pounds as of 30 mins ago! My normal weigh in is first thing in the morning. So maybe by morning it'll be 6 pounds! I'm sure its all water weight but heck yea! I will gladly take it!!!

Whoops!! Forgot to pledge!! Life has been so crazy the last two weeks I'm finally starting to find my groove. I'll pledge one pound. Not sure where the 3 pound whoosh came from as I didn't really do anything different? Thinking my IR might be getting under control now that I've been on the supplements for a month now.

Having fun at work, I am loving being on my feet all day. Workout was great...I am so much more conscious of pushing myself harder each week. I love to see my body get stronger.

Lastly, thank you all so much for the support. I know I've been a bit of a flake the last two weeks but I'm in it for the long haul. It helps so much having you all here. :)

Aww gee Sizzlin', you sure know how to make Sarge feel all warm and fuzzy with your "Sir, azz kickin Sir" greeting, not to mention such an awesome new bff! Fingers crossed in your favor for tomorrow morning reading. Go to bed now...do not pass refrigerator!

Linalin & DCap -- you two should become late night support buddies! I'm so glad our messages came thru to you both LOUD & CLEAR. YOU CAN AND WILL SUCCEED THIS WEEK! Love the concept of butt-er-B-gone!

Reso & Peanutt -- I agree, right??? I love the chatter. It really means those involved here are continuously thinking of making the right choices and having the support from some great peeps around them. I don't know about you, but this has been much easier for the last few weeks knowing that a few really dedicated people are all in the same boat!

LucyF -- just added your pledge! Lovable, hardworking "flakes" always welcome whether they have time to post or not!

Hump Day Butt-er Meltin tomorrow all!

I agree JayTee, i've said before i post even when i don't have much to say, i try to check in at least twice a day, it doesn't take a whole lot of time and i see it as a part of my weight loss efforts, keeps me honest and accountable, i rely on others and gain strength from their participation.

Peanutt : You had better beat me, i'm still coming though. :p

linalin : Dig deep girl, it's right there in your heart.

Sizzlingina : I knew it was mostly stress, there is nothing better for ones body then maintaining a routine, IMO.

Dcap : Nothing wrong with your genetics, if so we all have messed up genetics. :D

Pokey--I'm loving that you're checking in so frequently. Do you hear or see Sarge in the back of your head yet if you even think of falling off the wagon?

Confession: I wasn't feeling it this morning. I just wanted to lay in bed and not go to Zumba...but then I thought about how not only would I be disappointed in myself later, but I've vowed to be honest in my check-ins here (which is why I 'fessed up to the 5 pound gain last week, eeeeesh), and I didn't want to post that I didn't put in gym time today.

So I sucked it up and went and had a GREAT time in class! I even went up to the instructor and thanked her, the class was that good today. And I was able to go about my day with a bounce in my step thinking I had put in a good workout!

So it's because of all of you that my motivation is still with me!!!!

dcapulet: I work in genetics as well. :)

MadamB: I keep forgetting to mention it, but on my walk on Sunday I ended up following (not intentionally!) a man who was walking the same route I was, and he was wearing a really big, full backpack! It made me think of you. :)

Another super long day today, with zero opportunity to get to the gym, again. I did get a late dinner with my husband tonight though, which was nice as I hadn't seen him when either of us were awake since Sunday night. And we did get the grant proposal in tonight before the deadline, which was pretty much a miracle. :D Looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight and leaving work early tomorrow - and getting to the gym! Will catch up on everything here tomorrow night as well. Hope everyone had a great day!

It's Morning Time

Hump Day is here! So get on your sneakers and climb that hill! Then run back down and climb it again. LOL

It's my long run day. I'm a little iffy about it since I had to take a whole week off from running. My legs were sore from my 3 miler on Monday! Ack.
I will get there though. One foot in front of the other and a clear mind!

Reso-Thanks for the song suggestion. I haven't heard Heather Nova before...I liked the song called Island.

Linlin-Post pictures away so we can cheer!

Pokey-Awesome job getting to your class. I've had those days too and you made it a win.

Chickdee-Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Yay for dinner with husband and getting the grant in! Now come back and tell us about the gym today though!!

HAPPY HUMP DAY PLATOOOOOON!

Chesh-- Love your "put on those sneakers, climb that hill, then do it again!" The best part about a long run is the feeling of accomplishment when it's over. Dreading that it's still on your list for the day or that you have to get it in over the weekend is hard. We'll be happy to rev up the Apache helicopter to chase you if you want!

Linalin--Reso is right...photos most welcome!

Chickadee -- We will soon cut your computer privileges if you don't find time to get even 15 minutes of exercise in! We can be evil like that!

Meanwhile, I hear Churchill Downs added a new race, The One-derland Challenge .....AND THEY'RE OFF ... rounding the first turn it's Peanutt, in second PokeyCactus, in third, putting pressure on the pack and in the perfect spot to make his move in the home stretch, it's Reso... oh wait! .... nosing her way into the mix it's Kneed2lose...now in first its... (to be continued...)

And if only the following product were named Butt-er-B-Gone, MadamB would be a billionaire!

Checking in and wishing all great workouts today. Last night my migraine came back full force IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS so not fun! went to bed about a half an hr early last night on the downside though that means that I also woke up a half an hr early :\ I did push myself out the door despite my migraine, didnt make it all the way on my normal rout and didnt run bast the first like 1/4 -1/2 a mile. But...I did get a good 45 min walk in and some stretching. That is better than noting right? (looks around hopefully and pathetically). Also have a bit of congestion atm...allergies I think MEH. I swear its like something is trying to keep me in doors! Waiting for my body to relax and come off the high from the walk/pittiful run then it is back to bed for me....this migraine is driving me batty. LETS MELT THAT BUTT-ER ALL!

Reso: WOW! What an amazing journey you've had so far! I bet you feel great seeing the difference in your pictures! Definitely an inspiration!!

Pokey: I feel you! I had to fight myself this morning to meet with my trainer! I'm glad you had a great time at Zumba! Having to check in here definitely makes me feel more accountable, and when I skip (like this week), I feel crappy having to admit it here! Sarge is definitely keeping me straight!

dcap and chicadee: I worked in genetics too, until I decided to be a stay at home mom! :) Small world!

Cheshire: hope your run went well!

Sms: I definitely think that's better than nothing! A lot of people would totally use that as an excuse to skip a day (*cough* like me........ lol!) Hope you're feeling better! (PS: I'm a PCOSer too! I'm going to check out your blog right now!)

Went to the gym today! My trainer kicked my butt, to make up for missing Monday! And he added a session Friday to make it up officially. AND tomorrow I'm meeting with him so he can set me up on some program. I'm getting a little burnt out with the treadmill and bike... I feel like I'm ready for more and I've been craving (how weird is that?) doing some WEIGHTS. I do weights with him on Mondays and wednesdays and he told me he wanted me to focus on cardio on our off days for right now. Hoping soon I can do some more! Also thought about adding Jillian Michaels 30 day shred to my mix! My boyfriend is deployed right now and I really want to be down 20 lbs by time he gets back! I can't say when he'll be home but let's just say I don't have TOO MUCH time! Ahhhh, I can do it! I can do it!!

Here are my pictures!! I only blurred my face bc it looked stupid ;) I'm not internet-photo-phobic lol

This is from New Years Eve :( This is the picture that made me really see how big I had gotten!

Good morning all, IT'S HUMP DAY!!!

SARGE: Love the Lard-B-Gone . . . if I were a millionaire, we would ALL be heading to the biggest loser ranch to have Jillian scream in our face for about 6 weeks, then we'd go to the Bahamas or some other destination to drink margaritas, dance and soak up the sun, beach, sand and surf . . . Oh by the way . . . Eau Claire, about an hour from here and you ARE ALWAYS WELCOME ON MY DOORSTEP . . .

Reso: I hope that scale is kind to you . . . I can't figure mine out, it has a mind of it's own . . . LOLOLOLOL
