Happy Monday! I had a really good week, especially my weekend. I had a second date with a guy! Yay! For part of it we went to a local beach and just kind of walked and talked, and while it sounds really cliched, it's northeast Ohio, so it was cold and overcast and not at all the romantic kind of scene you see in movies haha. But it was good exercise and a nice date, so yay! This morning I weighed in and was down 3 lbs, bringing my total to just over 14 :carrot: I struggled at the beginning of March, gaining two weeks in a row, so this is a nice feeling.

This week I have TOM. BUT my belly dancing class starts on Saturday, so hopefully that will help with some of the TOM weight gain!

Morning,
Weighed in on Saturday and I was down .4lbs. Wish I had done better but at least it wasn't a gain. I was pretty bad Thursday night when I went to the Hockey game so I was expecting worse.
I bought a bike :). I rode it both Saturday and Sunday, feels really good and I enjoyed it. My upper legs and knees are a little sore today but that's not stopping me :p. Once I loose some more weight I am going to ride my bike to work a couple times a week.

Tudor Rose - That's so nice, I love walking on the beach even if it's not sunny out, just so peaceful. I am glad your date went well :).

Good morning! Tudor, congrats on the weight loss! And your date sounds like it was fun. :)

I weighed in on Thursday and GAINED! I wasn't thinking, and sat at a red light and guzzled my water that I packed for class. So I'm not surprised. So far this week things aren't looking any better, so it's time to take a good long look at my carb intake. Eating has been right on target points wise.

Busy week ahead - my favorite kind! DH is going back to Holland to visit family for 2 weeks, so DS and I will be cooking for two. I think we're going to try some new recipes out, and maybe buy a gas grill. I'll post recipes!

BlueEyes83, congrats on your loss! Like you said, at least it wasn't a gain and every little bit helps! The bike sounds like a great idea! Especially to ride to work. I have to take highways to my job, so the bike wouldn't work very well for me.

Jennifer, carbs are a big problem for me. I love my pasta and bread! I'm a vegetarian, and it can be soooo easy to fall into a trap of always eating pasta as your main meal since you aren't having chicken or fish or whatever. I have to be more careful now and limit how much I eat.

Good Morning! The mother in law visited this weekend and so I kinda knew I would be going off my diet plan for a couple meals this wknd...which I did... I used most of my weekly points. So I weighed myself today (official WI is tmrw morning) and im up to 174.4...which I know will go down because I didnt drink much water this weekend and im prolly carrying tons of sodium in my body right now...plus my TOM is due any day so I know im just really bloated.

I feel like this week will be a good week. I upped my caloric intake (i also calorie count) from 1200 to 1500 because I think that might have something to do with my not losing weight more steadily. I work out way too much to be eating only 1200 calories a day. It wasnt healthy for me and I was always starving.

Lost 1.2 at my weigh in Saturday, very happy with that as last week i gained .2. Have to watch my carb intake this week as well! Think that's my issue with the slow losses. We'll see! Weighing in Friday as it is opening day here for the best team in the world lol....Red Sox! So i took the day off to enjoy a few beverages during the game ;)

:cheer:Hello all

Congrats on all your successes - scale and non-scale. Even those here who saw gains are successful because they got right back OP.

I am happy to share that I achieved my 10% goal at my WI on Saturday.:cheer2:

Onderland is only 2 pounds away. Woohoo!

Congrats on your 10% and YAY for almost-Onederland! I *so* can't wait to get there! :carrot:

WI tonight. I'm expecting a maintenance week. I've been within my points but not so great with water intake. It is so difficult to get things sorted at work -- we can only bring stuff that is factory sealed or completely packaged in clear containers and so I usually bring a lean cuisine and a piece of fruit (which isn't really enough for a 12 hour shift). I resolve to do better this week.

i put on a shirt today, it feels loose, hanging slightly off my shirt. It looked good while i was pregnant ( i was a small bump pregnancy) and terrible after. Now only just 8lbs down, it looks and feels better.

Im confident for WI tomorrow. I got on the scale this morning (after i worked out mind you) and it was 201.8 (probably all the sweating lol)

I am really frustrated this week. Gained 1.2 yesterday. Since the beginning of January I have only lost 11 lbs. I actually cried on the way home from WW yesterday because I am working so hard and I feel like I am getting nowhere.

you need to play with it spooky?
what are you doing consistently? maybe some of us can help you, or give you ideas? do you eat over your daily allowance? do you consistently keep under it? getting HGH? enough water? too much water? too much salt? And the 36lbs in your ticker is amazing. What happened in or after janurary that may have contribuited to your "slow loss"

I always eat my daily points. I usually eat about half of my weekly points; I don't eat the APs. I drink at least a gallon of water a day. I have plenty of fruits/veg/whole grains. I don't think my sodium level is too high (it is definitely under 2 grams a day). I exercise vigorously at least 4 days a week, usually 5-6. I don't know what I could tweak, really. Maybe I'm eating too many carbs? I usually have cereal/banana/skim milk for breakfast with coffee. Either a soup/sandwich, salad, or lean cuisine for lunch. Dinner is usually a lean protein/complex carb/vegetables. I do have a dessert each day -- generally 1/2 cup of light ice cream or a vitatop for 3 points. Sometimes I'll have a clif bar before workouts and/or a greek yogurt and fruit afterwards. This morning I had eggs and turkey sausage instead of cereal, maybe I'll make an effort to get more lean protein and less processed carbs.

Why dont you try calorie counting for a week or so? Figure out your BMR & your daily caloric needs and reduce by like 500 to lose 1lb a week. You might be eating too many or too little calories without even knowing it. I also calorie count and it helps me figure out what I'm doing wrong (for me, it was eating way less calories than I should be)

I use this: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

This is a good idea. I actually have an old account at sparkpeople so I can use that. I've been thinking that maybe I'm consuming more calories than necessary but I guess the reverse could also be true. I will start today and maybe I will mix up the food a little (I tend to eat the same things, over and over).

Don't be discouraged :( i've only lost 12.2 since December 1st :(
but i try to look at it what if i gained 12.2 lbs? It would be very
easy as i live with a sabitore (he's just not on a diet) lol. Is TOM

my only suggestion, is perhaps not eating so many weekly points?
me, personally, i eat only about 5.. and i never eat my AP - and i earn about 50 or so a week.
have you spoken to anyone at the meetings?

Spooky
04-05-2011, 06:03 PM
I did speak with people at the meetings and their idea was to weigh and measure my food. I've been doing that since the beginning. My leader also suggested maybe I wasn't eating enough and that I should eat more of my weeklies and maybe my activity points.
TOM is a good 2 weeks away so it isn't related to that.
How many calories are in a point, roughly? Does anyone know?

Jinksie

i dont sorry :(

but i think you might be someone who cant cut into their weeklies too much - im one of them. When i only lost .4 my second week, i'd cut into my weekly by about 10.. probbaly more. I'll find out tomorrow, but i i lose when i dont cut into anything too much

Yeah i am pretty frustrated myself this week... and hoping for some good news on friday with WI. You feel like you try so hard, and for what? Sorta makes me think twice before i put anything in my mouth. Cause i know how hard i have to work to just remove an ounce.

BlueEyes83
04-06-2011, 10:33 AM
Spooky - I do not use all my weekly's either because if I do, I don't loose or I loose very little. I allow myself to use 20 weekly's and now I have been loosing. I know it's hard but you can do it, you just need to figure out what works for you. The support here is unbelievable, I could not have gotten this far without the support of this forum and my WW meetings.

mercuryblue - You have lost 14lbs so far, don't get frustrated! I was told you will have off weeks just because your body is adjusting.

I am feeling really good today. I walked at work and I also walked on the treadmill last night, worked up a huge sweat. I even had 5lb weights in my hands 1/2 the time on the treadmill. I love it that everyone is noticing my weight loss, it feels so good :). My face is much slimmer and I have gone down 1-2 pants sizes! Going out tonight to return pants I bought a couple weeks ago because they are too big :D.

Spooky someone told me it's roughly 35 calories to a point, used to be roughly 50 but don't go by me for sure, i'm not positive. It is frustrating because i weigh and measure and i'm struggling just like you. Weighed myself this morning and STILL 195! need out of this plateau!

Keli10801
04-06-2011, 01:03 PM
Spooky, could it be sodium that is halting your progress? I know I am very sensitive to salt so I don't eat any frozen meals and only low sodium or homemade soup. Salt makes me hold onto water and weight like it's going out of style.
Another thought... Maybe skip eating your weeklies and only eat your APs. That should give you a good idea as to if your body needs the weeklies to lose.

It was a rough emotional week for me, but a good weight loss week. I had weigh in this morning and was -3.6. So very close to my first 25 lbs gone forever and my 10% goal. Only 2.2 lbs to go.
I have figured out my body's pattern, I think. It seems I lose really well for 2 weeks, and maintain in the 3rd week. It is a 3 week cycle I can definatly live with now that I know what's going on, but it pretty frustrating to eat perfectly on target for a whole week and stay the exact same.

Jinksie
04-06-2011, 01:20 PM
e-tolls gave me a warning when i put in my weight. It said i'd reached my 5% which i havent. (and i checked the numbers through the chart)... But it says im losing too quickly at an average of 2.6 a week. It told me to slow my weight loss down.............:stars: do i need to eat more weekly points? :(

Tudor Rose
04-06-2011, 03:31 PM
do i need to eat more weekly points?

That's probably the easiest way to slow down your weight loss. I believe WW recommends losing an average of 1-2 lbs per week.

Jinksie
04-06-2011, 04:13 PM
it seems silly to me though; that a weight loss program im on, tells me to slow down? :D lol i was looking up muscle atrophy (which was one of the warnings) but it seems linked to people who dont move at all. I work out 6 days a week and sculpt at least once on those days; i eat plenty of proteins.
I'll try to get more weeklies in, or compromise and eat half my daily AP i earn. So when i earn 13 (some days i do), i'll eat half of them? -.-;

Jinksie
04-07-2011, 09:58 PM
i e-mailed WW, and their reply was to change my etools to maintain. Why am i paying to lose weight, to maintain at 50lbs away from goal? To me that just doesnt make sense.

Tudor Rose
04-07-2011, 10:22 PM
When you are in in maintenance mode, it adds on extra daily points. 6 per day, I believe. Plus you still have your weeklies, so I imagine WW wants to make sure you eat extra points to slow down the weight loss. At least that's my guess, but I don't know for sure.

Jinksie
04-08-2011, 12:14 AM
my concern with this, then, is that everything i've read up about losing weight too quickly, indicates strange heart rythmns and other big word terms (lol), but they're also, always linked to things like severely lowering calories. I cant imagine this is the issue; i eat more than i ever did before weight watchers (and that was ALWAYS my issue with weight loss, was never eating enough). Another one is muscle atrophy, but if you look that up, it seems to be more associated to laying in bed all day and not moving. I do high intensity training twice a week, tone or sculpt once a week. Pretty much intense cardio 6 days a week (or roughly 4-6 hours a week) (the program boasts, 9x more fat burn). so i cant imagine its that either. The other is skin, which is usually just an aesthetic thing

i hope no one thinks im rubbing this in :( some of you are struggling, and e-tools tells me to slow down!? i just dont get it, and im not sure what i should do. Continue how i was, and see how it fairs - maybe it was beginners luck? or consume more and maintain for a while? O_O

Tudor Rose
04-08-2011, 08:35 AM
I think we all know you're not trying to rub it in :) But, it's not just about losing, but about losing weight at a healthy rate. That's why WW is telling you to slow down.

wow it looks like everyone is doing well...I have been sooo out of touch these past few weeks and I hope to catch up on all the posts :o

I have not weighed in for 3 weeks not since I stopped taking the steriod medicine which uped my weight by 6.5 pounds in just 2 weeks. I am actually scared to weigh, I have not been using my journal or really watching my snacks. YIKES

Anyway today I am back in sync and counting my points. I am reading this terrific book called ChefMD's Big Book of Culinary Medicine by Dr. John La Puma. It has really opened my eyes to nutrition and what food combinations can really boost your body. I have not tryed any of the recipes but I am looking forward to it.

Wish me luck on Sunday morning that is my offical wi day and I will adjust my ticker..right now it reflects were I was 6 weeks ago

Good afternoon, chickies!

:congrat: to all those with losses and  for those with whom the scale has not been so kind.

spooky, that sucks about your work food situation. So you can't even bring in ziploc baggies of stuff? On the P+ plan, 1 P+ averages to about 40 calories, to give you an idea.

jinksie, unless you are consistently losing more that the recommended amount of weight, I wouldn't worry about those weekly warnings from etools. Some weeks I get them, too, but then other weeks my loss will be lower, so it all still averages out to 1-2 pounds a week.

As for myself, I went to my meeting this morning and lost 2.4 this week. It's hard to believe I am only 11 pounds away from meeting my goal. I was in my closet looking for a pair of shorts this week and came across the pair of size 28 pants I'd kept as my 'before' pants. I figured I would try and see if I could do the classic 'fit in one leg' pose you see in so many weight-loss photos. And I did! When I put them on and held the waistband out, it really hit home to me how far I've come, in a really physical way. I mean, rationally I know I've lost 'a person' and have gotten a lot smaller, but still a lot of times I look at my body (especially lower - I'm a pear/hourglass) and don't see much of a difference. So holding those pants up and feeling in shock that they ever fit was a big moment for me.

This weekend we are going tent camping with friends at a nearby state park. At first I was a little anxious as these friends are normal sized but not food-conscious, so they will have plenty of typical camping fare and snacks and I was worried about how I would handle it. So I planned out each meal and have prepped everything ahead of time, and opted for healther versions of camping favorites - extra lean ground beef for a burger, reduced fat hot dogs to roast over the fire, vegetarian baked beans, light beer - as well as plenty of fruit, berries and vegetables. We will also be bringing our bikes and our hiking shoes and I intend to earn some activity points! So now I'm feeling much more relaxed and excited about the weekend. :)

Wow, LitChick, your camping trip sounds like loads of fun! I hope you have a blast!

Today I am going to zumba and yoga. I don't usually do two classes back to back but they've just added a new zumba class on Sundays so I want to support that and I always feel so good after yoga. This afternoon I'm going to see a movie (Source Code vs Hanna, still deciding).

Tomorrow is WI. Hoping that, whatever the scale says, I will be more balanced and calm about it. This week I have eaten every single weekly point and a number of my APs as well. Hoping it'll shake something up. We'll see!

Have a great Sunday funday, everyone!
