Default Only 4.6 pounds in first month of Calorie counting?

So I use lose it. I've tracked everything. Exercised almost daily. I have to say I am disappointed. I expected more. My lose it is set to keep me at 2 lbs loss per week and I've come under budget every week (because of exercies) and am wondering if it is that?? Help! Please

How many calories a day are you eating ? Are you measuring accurately ? Are you counting everything ?

Don't we wish it were as an exact science as "they" tell us?

I'm losing an average of 2 lbs per week but this week was a "gainer" for me by about a half a pound.

Hang in there.

I use LoseIt too. I have it set to lose 1.5 pounds a week, and while that doesn't always happen, my average with 18 pounds lost in 12 weeks is 1.5 pounds. However, I DO NOT add my exercise into the app. I would try eating just the amount of calories allotted without eating any exercise calories.

Hey kmac1196,

It is common for the first month to be a disappointment, Mine was too... your body is a finely tuned machine that is going to do what it takes for you to survive....We know this cause our bodies store excess food as FAT! before I started CC I would skip meals and sometimes go the whole day with out eating, so when I did start my body thought I was going to starve it and just stored all those calories away for later use.

Listen to your body If you are sluggish after eating carbs, eat more protien. can't get through a workout, have a bit more carbs before.

I've found calorie counting is a learning experience and with each day we get better and better.

Don't give up... trust me there will be a day when you step on the scale and you see results you crave.

PS. Drink Water....without is your body can't move fat to use it for fuel!!!!

Just a few rambling tips that have helped me... Good luck!!

Keep on going. It's hard to track everything perfectly, and a program can only estimate your metabolism, it can't know for sure. The fact is you LOST 4.6 lbs. That's great! It might not be the progress you wanted, but it is progress.

I just thought I'd look up lose it, seeing as other people seem to be using it. I was using fitday but this seems far better.

Oh yeah? I use fitday too. I'd kind of hate to stop, since it has info on me going back so far, but maybe I'll look into lose it.

First...thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and advice! I appreciate the support on here more than you know. Now...business...some things you may need to know to help me figure out this nonsense! I drink a ton of water and nothing else (way more then 64 oz) so I'm good there. I cut out bread, pasta, oatmeal, potatoes, rice and fruit (just to get a hold of cravings for a bit...I'll add fruit in soon). I measure everything! Kitchen scale (salter brand) and measuring cups and spoons. I am not low carb as I am eating lots of beans and veggies and yogurt. I am most certainly not giving up Even if I ONLY lose 4 lbs every month I will still be 48 lbs thinner by next year. But I am not pleased and am in FIX it mode...not give up mode! I do not eat back my exercise cals. My calorie level (according to lose it is 1528 (to lose 2lbs per week). I stay under most days ...that may be my problem. I earn about 500 exercise cals a day (avg) doing high intensity interval training and weight lifting (heavy). Sometimes I work out twice a day. I do take a day of rest. I do take one cheat meal a week but log everything. I take a multi, CLA and GLA...My job is very energetic...I am a house cleaner (work for myself) and do whole houses by myself (ceiling fans, shower scrubbing, washing floors on hands and knees, etc...). I clean 3 days a week ( on average) and do it for approx 4 (sometimes more) hours a day. I did not add that to my calculations for calorie budget. Do you think that is the problem?? Could my intake be too low? Last weeks cal intake...Mon 1386 (low, I know), tues 1933, Wed 1689 thurs 1526, Fri 1550, Sat 1206 (oops), sun 1970. 11,260 for the week which is 630 cals under weekly budget (so that would be 2.5 lbs for that week alone). The week before I was 1403 under weekly ..before that 3380 under weekly, and 600 under weekly. Okay...criticisms...I'm ready.....

Personally your calorie intake looks spot on to me... my advice would be to give it another month before changing anything. Perhaps it was just a fluke? You and I are the same height and I go between 1200-1700 calories a day. I exercise hard at least 500 calorie burned in cardio and vigorous weightlifting 3X a week. I actually go twice a day some days too for additional cardio. I do keep my carb grams at about 100g...I eat yogurt, beans and veggies, too. Can't see many differences... for me february was a 4 pound month and then folowed by a 10 pound loss in March.

You don't eat back your exercise calories do you?

No, Stacy. I don't eat them back. Again, my job is very demanding physically. I thought I was spot on, too...felt good, not hungry, etc. But...I'm not happy with that. Usually I lose a lot the first and second weeks on a clean eating plan. (11 lbs week1, 6, 7....etc). 1 pound per week seems ...well, not enough. I just ordered the body media because clearly...I need help! Your stats are awesome, by the way!!!!!
