Good to see the new thread. I have kept right on weighing but haven't checked in the last few days ... just haven't been in the mood to be rah-rah cheerful.

Between two weeks of rough eating and major water retention I gained a solid pound and a half, which is coming back off. I'm committed to sticking to my plan and getting the rest of the weight off. I'm also exercising again after waiting for an injury to heal, and that is helping keep my eating on track, too. Persistence is more important than perfect, I'm a testament to that!

March 31: 213.5
Goal for April is to see 200 by May...I know that's an unusually high number, but I've lost weight in the past (guilty of yo-yo dieting, ugh), and I know the weight always comes off way quicker in the beginning than it does later on. By May I'll adjust my goals back down to 5-10 pounds per month.

1: 212.0
2: 209.5 Super happy to see myself out of the two-teens, but I also know most of this is water weight since I'm only a couple of days into my journey...
3: 207.5
4: 206.5
5: 207.0 I'm shocked that I'm only up by .5...I went pretty horribly off-plan last night. Back to eating clean again today, though!
6: 204.5
7: 207.5 I only ate 1300 calories yesterday...W-T-F?!
8: 204.5 Phew.
9: 204.0
10: 205.0 Not surprised...I drank a bit too much last night and got the "drunk munchies," which resulted in my eating my body weight in cheese and crackers. Ugh.
11: 204.0 Really, weight? REALLY?!
12: 202.5 FINALLY!
13: 203.0
14: 203.0 This week sucks.

I have been in a really bad stall for several weeks now. I'm doing good at staying away from the fridge- but I still have the same problem of slacking on the exercise. The weather is really nice now I'm going to try hard to exercise this month :D

Hi everybody. I will track my weight here from the 226 that my wii said this morning, but I don't like it :) It is a new scale and the old one said 219 which was 11 lbs lost in March. I was wondering, do you all copy and paste your stats everyday or do you make it part of your signature?

What most people do is make a daily report on the thread with whatever happened that day, and then also go back and update your original post on the thread.

That way you get the daily updates from everyone, but also keep the full month's record for your own information.

Welcome to the thread.

Scale is playing it's April fools joke today- up 0.6 ! Think it's salt from Protein Thursday. Just a quick attack for the last 15lbs, thought I'd try to eat proteins only for one day - recommended by the Dukan diet. It was fine, but I felt the salt. So hey presto up !! We'll see what the long term effect is.
Hope you have a smashing day, and that no-one pulls any tricks on you !

I'm back down .2 to 181. Who knows what tomorrow will be! Don'tcha just love bouncin around with TOM? Grrr I don't know how you people deal with this normal cycle business. I'm about ready to run to the fertility doc, get pregnant, have the baby, and follow that with a hysterectomy. I'm not going to because I want to be at a healthier weight before I try getting pregnant, but this is hard. I never had all these cravings, constant cramps, and low back agony before. I either had hardly anything or if I had a cyst issue that month then I had pain that was bad enough that they gave me morphine and then I had no pain. I have a new respect for women who deal with these sorts of cycle issues their entire adult lives and don't murder anyone.

Well, last month was only a success in that I weighed less at the end than at the beginning but I was too busy and too frazzled and too too many things to pay attention to too many part of my life, including daily weigh-ins.

167.2 down .8

I had an epiphany (sp?) this morning, after a disasterous attempt to be an adult and have an amicable resolution to what business Shaun and I have, I ended up angry, frustrated and so confused how a person goes from loving, kind, supportive and decent to a manipulative, cold, uncaring user.
The first thing I heard this morning when I turned on my ipod to shuffle teh 2000 songs on it was Fighter.

That is what I will take from this. I am a fighter. All of what has happened will only make me stronger, if i can support 3 people in 2 provinces - I can support me and Jack very well.

I am stronger than I realize and THAT makes me feel pretty darn good let me tell you.

Ok enough of my rambling. :p

Fitgirly - TOM is pain, literally, no worries on the bounce, throw down with TOM and jump into the 170's :) :)

Angie - that looks almost exactly like my pattern in March, shananigans. Sodium at least you know it'll go in a day or two. I think we all need to ro-sham-bowl TOM

SeBas - WELCOME BACK!! The more the merrier :) Fantastic stats for march!!

Diana - Seriously how do you do it???? I want to follow you around for a week, I can't get over the tremndous success you have and no change durring TOM :yikes:

Star - those last 15 grrrrrr. I'm curious about a day of protein, what is meant to be the benefit of that if you don't mind my asking?

Twinmom - 18 miles . . holy crap. I still can't fathom running a 5k let alone 18 miles, you rock!!!

Welcome Welcome to all the new people joing us . . you'll really love it here :D:D
Ill be back later for everyone else, have a fantastic day!!!

Protein Thursday is an element in the Dukan diet, it is supposed to be like an attack day for those low carbing it. I have lost the 130 lbs doing low carb, so wanted to try the kick start he recommended. Like I say -we'll see. I didn't eat extra calories yesterday, just no veg :dunno: Jury is out !!

Good Morning :D

The wii said 226 this morning...again. Ugh. Trying not to let it get to me. I realize it is silly but I am proud of myself as today marks one week of me staying on track with no slip ups. I generally dont last a week so I feel good. Getting all my calories in was really hard yesterday and I failed miserably. I may have made it to 700 calories at most. I had a nice dinner planned but I did not think (stupid me) that my braces would hurt as much as they do. I got them on yesterday afternoon and spent 30 minutes eating a can of pineapple tid bits. So I had the pineapple, 1/3lb sliced chicken breast, blueberries and a hard boiled egg though I think more of the egg ended up in my braces than my stomach :( Gross I know. At least the braces make me slow down my eating. I walked 2 miles yesterday morning and did 45 minutes on the wii with aerobics activities. I walked 2 miles this morning and plan on at least 30 minutes with the wii this evening. I hope that everybody has a great day. We can all make it through April :)

Vix - Thanks from a super mom to another. Seriously, ro-sham-bowl the scale . . . taunting you with onederland, throw down! I have no doubt you'll see that 1 sooner then you think and it's all down hill from there :)

Star - I don't know if I could go a day without veg, I love them lol. It's interesting though and 130 lbs down obviously you are working it out, awesome! I will absolutely stay strong, I have too much support from family, friends and so so much here there is no reason for me to ever feel pitty :)

Ona - I love the sumo, he makes me laugh still :) Keep throwing down with those stubborn pounds, they are no match for you!!

Susie - Congrats to you for recommitment!!Rock it out :carrot::carrot:

Vixsin, Angie and Ona! Thanks for the welcome back! I super missed you guys too. I had a hard time while I was away but didn't do any of the destructive things that I used to do (binge/starve)....so YAY! I am growing away from those habits!

I changed up my diet two weeks ago. I have eliminated white flour products, sugar, and I am really selective in what carbs I am eating. I also am staying away from anything ready to eat. So I guess it would be called clean eating. I have given up my beloved Diet Pepsi too! So far so good though, I am no longer bouncing between 196-189! I have been seeing the numbers go down at a decent pace.

I pulled back on the whacked out exercising that I was doing...I still dance on the treadmill!...but dont run everyday like before. I have been doing more Yoga and my flexibility has increased tremendously! So I am feeling like I am getting into a good groove mentally and physically. Moving toward goal in earnest! :)

Coon: I am sorry to hear about all the crap you are going through. :( Hugs sweetie.
True: Hello from a fellow Phoenician! I post my entire month everyday too.
Mama: I missed you! I am glad you came back too. How are you?
FitKristi: You are still rockin it, I see! Wow we are almost the same weight!
Diana: Amazing as always!
Aimee: Yay! You are here again too! So glad!
Vixsin: Holy Cow Woman! You are doing wonderful!!! It is working for you!
Ona: I am so proud at how far you have come! You are so close to goal!
Angie: I read about your Grandma, I am so sorry for your loss. HUGS!! I also saw your progress pics...WOO HOO, Looking good Mama! :)

Okay I am off! Have a great OP day everyone!

Thank you. Welcome back to you too. At least while you were "away" you stayed focused and did the things you needed to do. I, on the other hand, let life and stress get in the way and am now trying to un-do the damage I did. I am still buried in stress and most days feel like I want to curl up in a ball and not move, but coming here (and participating) helps. And I have responsibilites and people that depend on me, so I keep moving forward.

Hope everyone has a great Friday! I am so ready for the weekend.

No worries as you lose more, this will change. That's how it was for me and now I'm to a point where I get symptoms just the morning of the period and gone later in the day..now they only last 3-5 days. It will get steadier normal and taper out. Funny how the body has to teach itself to do what it should have been doing all along. I love getting my period everymonth now. I feel so 'normal' when before I knew the absence of a period was never a sign of good health.

Happy Friday AND April Fool's Day!!

Paradise - what a fabulous month! :)

Rhonda - Welcome back!!

Angie - damn sodium, and grr TOM.. but it'll go away soon!

Roxy - it's quite possible that the reason we have so many murder's IS because of TOM.. or thats my attempt at humour,

Coondocks - you are a strong, fabulous woman :D It's horrible that others can make us feel this way, but you were fine before him, and you'll be fine after him. And you'll be stronger and have Jack.. and children always show us the true meaning of love. Great drop this morning!

Leah - welcome back!! :D

As for me? Down this morning 1.5 to 258.4! Long day yesterday, and a late night tonight.. I'll be happy for the weekend :D And I'm late for work, I will ttyl!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! :carrot: April is off to a good start for me. Still battling TTOM - 44 Days and counting....but I'm in a positive mood and am wishing you all amazing success for April!!!! :dancer:
Kel

For Realz you have had your period this long? Have you been to the dr? when I used to have irregular periods (one summer I had it for 3 months straight, I had to have a DNC to clear me out) I would get put on progesterone 10mg for ten days to get the periods to end. Good Luck you shouldnt have to live like this!

167.2 down .8

I had an epiphany (sp?) this morning, I am a fighter. All of what has happened will only make me I can support me and Jack very well.

I am stronger than I realize and THAT makes me feel pretty darn good!

You just said it all right there! We all suffer in different aspects of our life from one event/time to another. But moving on and letting go are what makes us who we are and how strong we are is only defined by what we do with our situations. You choose to live and take care of your responsibilities. Life is not over it's really just beginning!

First weigh-in of the month puts me back at 235.4, which is down -.2 from yesterday. Slower start than what I was hoping for, but I will take it! I was hoping to start my C25k this week, but I'm going to have to wait another week or so before I can start it. However, a local friend I'd lost most contact with called me up out of the blue yesterday and wanted to know if I wanted to start going to Zumba classes with her a couple times a week. They're free on post here, and I never knew we had them available, so I'm considering this a sign that - just because my C25k idea is delayed - it doesn't mean I shouldn't be trying something else to fill in that exercise time. I'm hoping this means April will bring many exciting things!

:welcome: to everyone joining in for the month and  & :grouphug: to everyone from last month's thread!

hello everyone! i stepped on both my scale and my wii fit this morning for weight. i'm going with wii fit haha. my scale told me 288.0 and wii fit told me 287.9... which means i'm starting to go back down from my bounce up, i hope, since yesterday was 288.6.

being off work, and at home with the food all day makes it a little more challenging to stay on plan... but it also means i can spend more time with the exercise. hopefully that's how it works out.

Coondocks I bounced up a little at the end of the month. I am up about 1.6 pounds. That is nothing though, so no complaints. I used to gain 5-10 pounds before I started watching things. Now, that was insane!

I guess I'll join in for some daily accountability this month. Last month was my slowest loss yet, only about 4 - 5 pounds instead of the 8 - 11 I'd been doing so far. April Goal = Losing at least 1 pound per week and keeping up my current workout schedule of 5 - 6 days per week. My scale only goes by 0.5 pound increments though, so this might not be terribly exciting. :)

I am new to this thread and just have to say that the amount of weight you guys lose in a month is AMAZING! There really must be something to this daily weighing thing. I've always been afraid to weigh daily because I seem to hold alot of water when I have TOM come to visit.

I am down .8 lb from yesterday's weight of 252.6, and I push mowed my lawn today.

Paradise -- Good job on your last week!

Hi Diana  :coffee:

Roxy -- Congrats on your .2! Speaking of TOM and murdering someone...I really could today..man am I p!ssy today. Good night to get to bed early :)

Vladadog -- Hi! We don't hear much from you lately..hope all is well.

Coondocks -- I'm very happy for your epiphany -- you are strong, you are a fighter -- take everything you can out of this experience and use it to grow even stronger. Yes, TOM is really messing with me...but this happened last month for me, so I'm just going to try to play it cool -- it will pass in a few days, right?

Hi Ona  :sumo:

Bulletproof -- Maybe with the exercise you've been getting you need a few more calories? Not sure if you're eating to a specific number, but it might be something to consider if the scale is still not cooperating. My sodium yesterday was 4300 -- I'm not even kidding...lol, no wonder, eh? My average sodium is around 1400 mg/day, but it does fluctuate up and down a lot.

Kel -- :jig:

Leah -- Looks like your clean eating plan is working for you :) Good job avoiding the destructive habits!

Kris -- Have a great weekend! I hope you find some time to yourself

Matilda -- You're doing great! Congratulations :)

Hi Aimee -- Great job on your 1.5, congratulations!

Ophelia -- The Zumba class with your friend sounds like fun, it always is more fun with a partner.

Mandy -- Good job, I'd have picked the lower weight too. When I'm home and feeling munchy sometimes I'll make myself do hard household chores before I can eat something...that way at least if you feel bad about eating you'll feel great about how awesome the house looks!

Kallismom -- :welcome: Is that a Jack Russel in your avatar? I love them, and have a 9 year old JRT :)

ophelia - how come you are postponing C25K? I just bought an app for my iphone to do all the counting for it for me, I am excited to start! It's still really wet and icy here :( Down is down, and all those .2's always add up! :)

Mandy - great start to the month! I love the wii for weighing, I even threw out my scale!

Cocomonkey - at least you know you can lose even in the worst circumstances! That's me trying to be positive that you've had to deal with TOM for that long, I don't blame you for doing a count down! :) I can't even handle TOM for 7 days a month!

kallismom - Welcome! Daily weighing had helped me deal with the fluctuations, and make them not such a huge deal.

Angie - Thanks! :D Do you think we could be on the same TOM schedule? I wanted to hurt quite a few customers tonight, I resisted though! I just smiled instead..

I made it thru my day! I had a pretty bad headache, and didn't use it as an excuse to eat bad foods to try and make it feel better! Small victories right! Off to bed I go!

2: 274.2 lbs.

If it is okay you all I would like to continue to post my daily weigh ins with your group. I didn't lose much last month but I did identify my issue with sodium and eating out. My eyes were opened and I am ready to begin anew this month and, God willing, kick some serious butt.

I am up .8 today to 181.8. Grrrr! In a couple hours I will be doing 2 hours of zumba and I am considering going to lunch at this cajun restaurant I noticed the other day. I figure 2 hours straight zumba earns hubby and I a good lunch and if I'm going to go try the place I might as well do so during TOM when my weight is all screwy with or without the sodium. So far I have managed not to murder anyone. I hope the rest of you who are dealing with TOM too can stay out of prison as well :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

Angie

Okay, let's record this to keep for future reference....If you were ever thinking, hmm I've had huge gains from water retention/sodium over 2 days and considering fighting sodium with sodium as a strategy...it does not work. So, I barely ate yesterday during the day, and then was ravenously hungry last night as we went out to a bar to send off a friend who was leaving the company. Apparently, if you're on a gaining streak, eating nachos and sweet potato fries and drinking vodka won't help. Who knew? I gained another .4 :o

All fun aside, it's back to work(outs) today. Since I'd given up eating in restaurants for Lent, but we were going to a restaurant last night, my friend gave me a 'penance' of having to cover 5k today. Just ate an on plan breakfast and am munch on fresh fruit for brekky with my DS (who is in a Fairly Odd Parents coma right now).

Angie (kallismom) - Molly is adorable! Sorry for hogging our name as my signature :)

Aimee -- I think we are on the same TOM schedule, a few of us here seem to be. Good job on smiling instead of ripping people's heads off...I think it's a far better long term strategy :D

Starbrite -- Morning! :flow2:

Pam -- Of course it's okay! Great job on your 2lbs!

Diana -- Stupid TOM

Roxy -- I think all that Zumbaing around ought to earn you a lunch out :) DS and I a family-play-date today with 3 other families and 4 other small children, I may need someone to bail me out later.

Diana -- :D I have to laugh or I'll cry! I'm up 3.6 from this TOM so far...but I realized that I have always had this TOM gain, or worse, but it's so much harder mentally to deal with it when you're watching your weight day by day. I'm not going to try it, but I suspect fighting sodium with sugar or fighting sodium with fat won't work either...maybe carbs? ;)

Me: Look at how tight my rings are, now. I can't even get them off.
DH: Looks at me in bewilderment.

Morning Ona! Congratulations on your 1 pound loss!

Diana -- I'm the same way...we still go to the chinese buffet sometimes, but I make better choices and I know to expect the water retention. When I used to eat KFC, which I haven't done it something like a year or more, it was immediate, just as you described.

Hi Friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I'm down 1.2 today.

FitGirlyGirl -I've been invited to join a friend and her friends to do Zumba three nights a week. I've heard that it's tons of fun, but I've been a little nervous to try. I'm so out of shape! I've considered getting the Wii one and trying it out first...just so I don't embarrass myself too much! :D
Swimgirl - Congratulations on not using your headache as an excuse to go off-plan.

Regarding restaurants...As of yesterday, I've been on-plan for 3 weeks and haven't tried to eat out yet. Eating out seems to be the catalyst for me to go offplan. I have alot of respect for those of you who can do this and still stay on-plan! One day, that will be me.

I'm officially on vacation! We're not going anywhere....just doing some much needed spring cleaning. I will be getting some really good exercise from that this week. Hubby and I are working on the flower beds this weekend. Today, I will be headed to Kohl's to buy a bracelet and my first bead for my first 10 lbs. They are having a pretty good sale...55%. I will be adding a bead for every 10 lbs. At the end of my journey, I should have something really beautiful to wear on my slender arm. :D

Made turnip fries for the first time last evening. Yummo! Oh my goodness. I felt like I was cheating. My plan doesn't allow potatoes. These aren't exactly like potato fries, but a good alternative. Heck, I'd eat them even if I weren't on this plan and could have my regular fries.

Have a great on-plan day.

Diana3271

Matilda Great job on your 1.2 pounds!

GirlyGirlSebas Congrats on your 1.2, too. Have fun at Kohl's. I've never had Turnip Fries. Did you fry them or bake them?

sigh. wii fit tells me i'm up 0.2 from yesterday, to 288.1... but instead of making me pick a reason why i gained, it told me "progress takes time" and yada yada.

so maybe it's just water retention in my muscles from doing all the squats and push ups yesterday. fingers crossed for a whoosh down soon.

Hi everyone! Just a quick check in. The scale was the same today but I was okay with that. I finally got in enough calories yesterday though i didn't go about it the right way. I haven't been able to eat because of the braces and my friends husband asked if I wanted anything and she told him to get me a shake. So he shows up with a large chocolate shake from McDonald's. I drank almost all of it. I realize I should not have taken in my calories that way but I was still under what I should be eating in a day. My goal this upcoming week is to get enough calories at least 4 of the days. On a side note I went on an awesome hike this morning and I am very proud of it :)

04-02-2011, 01:19 PM
GirlyGirlSebas - your bracelet as a constant reminder of how much progress you have made sounds like a great idea!

I think it's funny how many people on here seem to be going through TOM right now (me too, boo...). I'm down 0.5 today which makes me happy, but I also woke up with a terrible migraine and haven't left the couch yet. I was thinking about taking my new bike out again today (did 19 miles total yesterday! Yay!) but I will have to wait to see if my meds kick in well enough to make the pain and nausea go away. :P

I didn't weigh in yesterday, not a great way to start off the month but I was so ridiculously busy between work and the first dinner party hubby and I hosted in our new house with his extended family - about 17 people including us, yikes! Anyway, it all went quite well and I slept until noon today (I don't remember the last time I did that) so I weighed in later than usual today, but I'm down to 198.6 so I'll take it.

starbrite - dancing until 3am sounds like a lot of fun!!

pamatga - welcome back :)

Diana - Darn TOM

Roxy - I'm always shocked about PMS! Doesn't seem fair, my only consolation is that the BF has to deal with it too... and by it? I mean me, It's all fair, since I have to clean his socks ;) Sounds like a fabulous Saturday! Have fun!

Angie - Fighting sodium with sodium  Thanks for testing that out ;) I'll cross my fingers as I say this, but I haven't had that issue with sodium... yet! I have to say, we need to re-think the TOM schedule, it always is around the first/end of month which kind of a pain with the monthly totals.. ;) I do Nike+ with my iphone, but I haven't played anymore with it.. is there more to it?

Xanadoodle - great start to your month!

Ona - Great loss!! :D

LetsWorkItOut - Welcome! And would it be creepy if we LIKED being stalked ;) So glad you are joining us!

Matilda - Sounds like everything is lining up for a GREAT month! I should have gotten you to do my taxes! ;)

Rhonda - Congrats on your WI!! Thanks! It felt like a pretty great NSV :) I am with you on the eating out thing, ironically I can do fast food better than restaurants.. not too sure how or why. The bf loves fast food, so I've had to adapt! Your vacation sounds FABULOUS to me! I really need to do some good spring cleaning, and I desperately need to go thru my clothes.

Mandy - .2 could be just a bathroom visit, don't sweat the small stuff! Actually a pretty decent weigh in if you are sore, muscles retain water when they are sore. Lots of water today and I'm SURE you will be getting a good whoosh soon :D

BeTrueToYou - I'm a calorie-drinker myself, some days I'd prefer not to eat, and just drink my calories only. :o Just got to find a way to make it work! Great job with your hike! I love the idea of hiking!

kaebaka - Sorry to hear about your migraine :( I get those too, I had a crazy bad on yesterday.. hope yours goes away soon! Congrats on the WI with TOM! :)

As for me? Down .9 today! 257.5! It's very sunny and warm today, I'm thinking I'll go for a walk and enjoy it!

So I just bought a new battery for my scale since I don't like what the wii says. UGH! It agrees with the wii. I really don't get how I can go from 219 to 226 in a day. And now the scale isn't moving. I really hope eating more fixes this.

Was up then down to 271.6 then went to sleep got up again and down a pound :D so 1.8 loss today happy to see that after killing my legs yesterday on the elliptical an hour. I went to my cousins baby shower(only ate BBQ on burger bun, BBQ chips and 2 deviled eggs :o BUT no cake :D), had fun and won a thing that says "Never let your memories be greater than your dreams" love it.
Also no one said anything about my weight, kinda sad about that but whatever I know I am so they will be shocked when they see me at Christmas hoping to be under 200 by then!!!

OK I'm here to try this again ... I gained 5.6lbs in March. At the health screening I found out that I am probably diabetic. I had gestational diabetes with our last four children. The first two I controlled my sugar with diet. With the third I had to do one shot of insulin at night before bed. With the forth I had to do two shots of insulin ... so I knew it was only a matter of time with the extra weight that never left that I would have diabetes if I weren't careful and I haven't been obviously. I was told at my last full physical to keep an eye on it because I was borderline.

I haven't read through the thread yet ... I hope everyone is doing well. Take care everyone

Hello everyone. Sorry for not checking in much, it's been a weird week or so, I've been a bit antisocial.

I am now cooking a huge Middle Eastern meal for a dinner party tonight, so I better get un-antisocial fast!

Anyway, I'm still stuck at 194, somewhat frustrated about it - though, this morning it occurred to me that my brand new pants are already quite big on me, so it's possible that I'm having one of those "weight loss pauses while body rearranges itself" times, in which case I'm content to wait it out even if it takes another week or two.

Be well everyone, and good strength!

Hey, ladies! Bounced up a pound today, but I'm not freaking out yet because I had theater popcorn (no butter, but tons of salt) late last night and didn't get any water in yesterday, just extraordinary volumes of Coke Zero. And TOM popped up last night. -_-

Bulletproof, nice whoosh!!

BeTrue, so your Wii went up from 219 to the high 220s in that time frame? Or you had an old scale that said 219 and now the new one and your Wii say high 220s? Don't worry about it either way — you know you have to be losing if you're working so hard, so try to ignore the bounce and focus on what happens next. I know it doesn't help much, because I feel the same way when I see an irrational bounce, but just try to hang on!

Swim, congrats on the .9! That reminds me, I want to get a scale with .1s. Mine counts by .2s.

Rhonda, nice drop! I love your bracelet idea! It's a real-life version of these little smileys some of us put at the bottom of our sigs for every 5 or 10 pounds. I think I might copy the idea, if you don't mind ;)

Kukkie, congrats on the successful party :)

LetsWorkItOut, Matilda,

Ona, nice loss! You kick butt. Whenever I feel sorry for myself for not losing fast enough or when I think I have too far to go, I look at how much progress you've made and how positive you are

Diana, I'm chuckling at your dialogue. I always feel my rings to try and judge water weight. After I saw your post, I googled water retention and ring tightness, and someone said to test if you're retaining water, you can hold your arm above your head for a few minutes and see if your ring is looser afterward. Sure enough, my ring would barely come off before and slipped right off after that. I guess I should put down this Coke Zero and grab some water...

Angie, oh, if only you could fight sodium with sodium! It's my Kryptonite!

Fit, sounds like a fair deal to me :D

pamatga, it's not my thread, but I think it's safe to say we'd all love to have you stick around! :flow2:

starbrite, good for you for your dancing adventures :dancer: I'd love to go dancing more — I did it at least once a week last semester, but my problem is that I'm terribly shy and self-conscious, so I haven't gotten the courage yet to go dancing without drinking, and I can't trust myself yet to drink just one or two and avoid the drunk munchies. *sigh*

To everyone I missed, hello, and a :twirly: for you because why not?!

Paradise,

My scale went from reading 219 to 226 (and other erratic numbers all within a 3 minute time frame). So the battery was thought to be the culprit. Instead of buying a battery I bought a wii fit which also said 226. So I bought a new battery and guess what...226. I just hope my clothes start to feel looser or something because I need some sort of encouragement from my body.

I just started actively checking my weight after probably a year or two. It's better than i thought but I still really need to do something about it. So since about a week ago I stopped drinking coke (the bane of my existence). As of April 1st I'm 275. And thus begins a long long journey

I was thinking the 219 must just have been wrong, but I looked back at the last week of your posts and see that it went down gradually. That really is bizarre. You couldn't possibly have gained 10 pounds in a day, so either the huge losses you saw for that week or so were scale screw-ups (which would suck, but it could be possible if you weren't eating enough that you weren't actually losing), or something crazy is going on with water retention now and you'll drop it as soon as you figure it out. Do you wear a ring? If so, try the fluid-retention test I posted about up there ^^^.

Morning everyone
:welcome: new people - I truly hope you will find in this thread what you need to keep you accountable. I know I and many others have, and our weight losses are a credit to the power of daily weighing and fabulous support! Phew that was a lot to say !
Went outlet shopping yesterday, it was fun but boy the things were expensive! Bought some MISS SIXTY jeans:cool: because they were cheap !! But also wanted a goal pair. They look tiny, but really don't feel that far away so :carrot:I'm going to keep on fighting.
Tried the cauliflower puree with fat free yogurt as suggested here- truly divine, and so like mash potato. Had asparagus and chicken with it
However was followed by an entire night of peculiar dreams - not sure why my sleep is so disturbed at times......but I've read it can be a side effect of a mainly protein diet.(probably more likely the stress I've been under the past few months !)
Two weeks to dress shopping for the wedding - 3lbs to go for dress challenge. Looking at my stats over the past few months that could be hard to achieve, but I have my first personal training session Tuesday. He asked me what I wanted to achieve and I said to tone up and to make me sweat!! :D He told me he would make me do things I was afraid of :o and now of course, I'm afraid ! I'll be back with a full report.
Anyhow, down 0.4 today - slow and steady. 15lbs to go !!
Big  to you all, keep on fighting :sumo:- together we can do it.

pamatga
04-03-2011, 07:17 AM
:welcome: new folks. I just wanted to tell you that I began doing this daily weigh in last month and although it was discouraging to see how my body reacted to meals eaten out, etc. it did help identify an area of my food plan that I needed "self-knowledge" in and if you can face the music, you can join the band. So, I'm back! Thanks for welcoming me back, "regulars". I hope I will become a "regular" here as well.
1) 276.2
2) 274.2
3) 274.2

Starbrite so you're getting married? When is the date and give us some more details! I went through a period of awful dreams when I was under a lot of extreme stress. Is it possible that you might be bringing to bed what you are carrying around during the day? Is there someone you can trust to talk about some of your fears?

Topsy81 Heavy Lovely Heavy Nerd:welcome: this is a great bunch of people here and lots of wisdom. I swear Coca-Cola is the "nectar of the gods". It is soooo good but Coke Zero is good as well. Although I try to limit myself to one can since the caffeine exasperates a sleep problem I have, as in not getting enough.

k0nfyo0zed You know I like that charm bracelet idea as well. In fact, I had been thinking about the one my Mom (she died in Nov 2008) used to wear. She enjoyed traveling and every time she went somewhere she would get a charm for her bracelet. I was going to ask my sister if she had seen this in Mom's jewelry box but I forget plus I think she had a smaller wrist than me. It is a great visual aid. Rhonda Count me in!

BeTrue, Well, I am one of those people who can easily gain 2-4 lbs from one meal and if I don't follow that with a lot of H2O to flush it out it will hang around for another day or two. Speaking of which, how long can a person expect a battery to last for a digital scales? I bought mine new four months ago.

Swim and Bulletproof, great job. I am hoping I can get back on the whoosh wagon myself. 2 lbs so far but last night I succumbed to some popcorn at home and Coke Zero. And, I am wondering this am if I would have seen more whoosh if I would have passed on that evening snack.

Now, Diane I'm debating on whether I should stay home and not go to my favorite Chinese restaurant. I love their food but it is a land mine when it comes to added sodium. Awrrghhh. Angie sodium was my downer last month. I am hoping to learn from that lesson this month. Darn! Darn!

Ona, ditto on the nice loss! You are so giving and loving here. I just hope you don't lose that along with the weight. Bless you!

Diana, I agree with the ring test. Believe it or not but I went for a period where I couldn't wear my beautiful wedding set last year because once it was on I couldn't get it off. I still only wear it when I go out but it is definitely a litmus test for sodium. (for me my arthritis inflammation as well)

Lindifer you are in the right place. Dust yourself off, pick yourself up and start all over again.[/I] That's what the song says so sounds good to me. You can do it!

I just started actively checking my weight after probably a year or two. It's better than i thought but I still really need to do something about it. So since about a week ago I stopped drinking coke (the bane of my existence). As of April 1st I'm 275. And thus begins a long long journey

Pamatg- I don't know how long they are supposed to last, but I recently turned 23 and the scale setting for the user is 19...so I had mine for 4 years...

I noticed the weight gain the day after I drank a gallon of water. Unfortunately I do not have a ring :(

TMI BELOW

So I was thinking. Ever since starting my journey I have only had one BM. Granted I normally only have 2 or 3 a week. Yes this has been checked out by a doctor since I was an infant and it was finally decided that it is just how I am. But still maybe some of the weight is poop?

END OF TMI :)

The wii says I am 224.7 today, which is better but I WANT MY 219 BACK!

I did the wii fit for 45 minutes this morning, all aerobic activities. I screwed up yesterday...only got in 100cal. My mouth hurt so much. I had a string cheese and a few slices of squash that I overcooked to make them more smooshy. I had a ton of water. But thats it. On top of an hour hike. Ugh. I need to get this whole eating enough thing down. Funny that that has obviously never been my problem before

I will be back for personals later, I need a piece of paper and a pen to jot down all of your names and what to say :) Have a great day!

Edited to add: I just did some research on a medication I am taking and it states that a few of the side effects are weight gain and acne. Well I cannot get rid of the zits that keep popping up (I typically have a very clear face) and the weight is not dropping. I am going to ask my doctor about finding something else. And.....just looked at the other medication I am on...yup...you guessed it...weight gain. Hmmmmm.

my weigh in is a couple hours earlier than typical today (and after a glass of water with my meds!), so the fact that it said 287.9 again (a drop of that same 0.2 i gained yesterday) is a good thing.

especially since i gave in to my cravings yesterday, and allowed myself to have chili for dinner. i made sure it fit into my calories BUT chili also has so much salt i may as well have been dipping my spoon into a salt shaker. when i woke up this morning my mouth was dry and i couldn't get my ring off very easily, so hopefully chuggin H2O today will help.

also, BeTrue: to your TMI statement, my BMs were a bit wonky at first when i made the diet change. digestive system adjusting to the change? who knows. but since you haven't been eating much, there probably isn't all that much solid waste to build up and make you go. and braces are awful at first, but you will be SO GLAD when they come off. i was. :)

Up .8 to 271.4 :/ I bet it was the 2 pieces of pizza I had last night...shouldn't have had it and hope thats the last up I see for a while! Also only exercised 40min yesterday because my legs were killing me from the day before and yesterday was my "rest day"

I will get back to losing though with starting 2 hours a day on the elliptical! I might BBL for personals but I have to study for a final tomorrow and have to find some answers to some of the questions on my study guide.

Congrats to the losses today!!!

Happy Sunday and Good Afternoon

:welcome: to Everyone NEW and :welcome: BACK to the people like ME ... who leave and return to this great thread!

I am trying the South Beach diet. Yesterday was my first day and it was truly hard to not eat any crackers (my favorite), bread or pasta. I made spaghetti and meatballs for the family and of course everyone said it was really good ... at first I thought was it bad every other time ... then I thought, I'm just jealous because I can't have any :D. I made these quiche type things last night and surprisingly they were really good. I am down 1lb to 176.8 this morning.

Hope Everyone has a great day!

Good morning, Friends! I'm down .8 today.

Diana - I baked my turnip fries...sliced the turnip into steak fries, tossed them in a baggie with 2 tsp of olive oil, a sprinkle of garlic salt and a dash of Ms Dash...spread out on cookie sheet and bake in oven for 25 minutes, turning once. They have a lovely slightly sweet flavor.

Love2be150 - Sorry to hear about the diabetes. Just remember that you can turn that around. Southbeach is a wonderful way to do this! Phase 1 is tough! Try to eat 1 cup of beans or lentils each day and drink some milk. This will help.

To those of you who also want to do a charm bracelet, I'm so glad you love the idea too! I'm using Pandora type beads. I recommend checking out Etsy. There are some beautiful beads on there by some very talented artists.

Today, Hubby and I will be putting down some cow poo and mulch on the flower beds. Don't you envy me?;) I probably will be vey sore tonight.

Have a great on-plan day.

Wow, you guys are giving me some really interesting ideas for tasty food to try! Down another 0.5 today; I guess I should be thankful that I am nearing the end of TOM and must be losing some water weight. I went to a movie yesterday afternoon and munched on a bunch of popcorn and then followed that up by eating an oreo frosty late in the evening... Not exactly on plan for the day, even if my net calories total was still negative. But probably only like -300 or so. :)

Happy Sunday! Big change today from yesterday, I went for a walk, the sun was shining, the patio's were open.. and now it's snowing :(

starbrite - I love mashed cauliflower, I've put roasted garlic in it too, so yummy! With a little parmesan cheese too. Might add that to my shopping list this week! When is your one year anniversary for this weight loss?

pamatga - You just delayed the whoosh! It'll come :)

LetWorkitOut & Angie - Darn TOM! I will be joining you ladies soon!

Kukkie - amazing how good maintaining can feel sometimes :) Are you still doing 30 Day Shred?

Ona - hope you get some sleep and recooperate after your busy couple of days!

BeTrueToYou - that gain could definitely been from lack of going to the bathroom, has happened to most of us! Hopefully your doctor can find you some better medications!

Mandy - That's a pretty good WI considering you drank water before it! I always have to do it on an empty stomach otherwise I'm guaranteed a gain!

Rhonda - great WI this morning! And I am totally jealous.. it's been snowing all day here.

love2b - I quite enjoyed South Beach! Definitely get creative, and eat beans!

Phew! Hopefully I didn't miss anyone!

As for me? Up .4 this morning, but this was before a bathroom break. Not too shabby I think :) Going grocery shopping today to get myself set up for the week! Unfortunately I'm going to a cosmetics school this week, which means no control over my lunch on Wednesday. My only hope is that the trainer is still on her diet, because she always orders a garden salad!

BeTrue I have the same issue. My Mom told me to take Miralax. It didn't work like I thought it would but it is lighter and easier when I do go. So it helped some :)

Thanks Aimee ... We had a little snow here on Wednesday but it was chilly all week so we could expect anything. I really need to do some shopping for food for this new eating plan. Good luck to you on Wednesday. :)

So TOM and ungodly amounts of sodium and eating late and huge amounts of exercise with related sore muscles adds up to being up 1.8 additional pounds on the scale. 183.6 today. Is ok though, will be gone soon enough. I made my goal of burning over 4,000 calories yesterday - I got 4,368. I also managed to run an entire lap straight around the track. In lane 8 that's .2779 miles. Running is really hard for me, so that is a huge accomplishment in my books.

GirlyGirl - No matter how fit someone is zumba is usually difficult at first. Nobody is going to expect you to be perfect from the start. Even people who have been doing it forever still sometimes have problems when the teacher throws a new song at us. It is a blast! It is also an awesome workout. I usually burn slightly over 10 calories per minute during zumba. Go and have fun. I love this bead idea. Hubby wants to know if I want to go get one and all the beads I have earned so far.

Bulletproof - Sometimes people are worried about offending people by saying something about their weight loss. That might have been the case with the people at the baby shower.

Welcome to the new people and Happy Sunday to everyone! I'm now off to get a bracelet apparently and maybe some turnips.

had a great time away.. my near 3 pound gain, probably all from last nights bdubs but i am back on plan today..i am pretty sure most of it is just water retention...and although i didn't exercise all i did was climb stairs, my friend lives on the 3rd floor, and i was constantly going outside to smoke.(yeah i know) or to get fresh air even if it is 3 pounds of fat..it was a great long weekend, got to see some people i haven't seen in a couple of years..so it was worth it.

Morning my lovelies
Down 0.2 for 167.9- could we go any slower !!
Aimee- my one year on this journey comes up April 9th. I find it so hard to believe as it's gone so fast.
Had a bit of a row with my brother last night. He must have snooped on my computer to find my stats as he kept quoting my goal and my start weights. Plus he told me that no one gave a sh*t about my weight loss and that of course no-one could understand because no-one needed to lose as much as I have :dizzy: not sure I can cope with that one. Got to go now, but be back later for a full examination of how I feel about being called a freak !!!!!

pamatga
04-04-2011, 05:35 AM
April 1:276.2 lb
2 274.2 lb
3 274.2 lb
4 271.8 lb

As you can see I have had a couple of good days. I log all of my food on the computer which also means the breakdown of all the macronutrients so I also know how much sodium I eat each day. I have noticed that when I can keep it under 2400 mg I see some weight go down. I still think there is another 1-2 lb of "sodium-induced" water weight left before I am back to really seeing a slower weight lose.

I am so glad that I decided against going out to eat at my favorite Chinese restaurant. Instead, I put the money that would have been spent on that towards more groceries. I awoke early this am because I was hungry and empty. I am sure I will go through this for a few more days before my body adjusts and adapts.

I had such a horrible February and March that I am really hoping that this month will turn it around for me. Here's crossing everything that I can!

Star--I'm sorry you don't have the support of your brother but contrary to what he thinks, we do care about your weight lose journey and we think what you have done is awesome. Brothers are stupid anyway!;)

Bullet - I have to hunker down and study for my exams too. I am so nervous about passing them. I have to get 90% or better to get the certification I need. All for a piece of paper.

Girly did you find slicing a turnip to be hard? I seem to remember them being really difficult to cut like fresh sweet potatoes.

:welcome2:new people!

Well Good Morning Everyone,

I'm down 0.2 but I weighed earlier than usual, so I'm good with that 176.6. I finally got the treadmill from my neighbor last evening so I can one day (hopefully soon) attempt C25K. :D. I go to Curves today for two Zumba classes (about 35 minutes each) which includes doing the circuit also.

Didn't see the comment about Zumba but I'll add my 2cents :). I've been doing it for about 2 months now and it still is not easy for me and the sad thing is the lady that teaches it is not nearly as hard as two classes I've taken with other instructors. So for me it's all about fun and getting that cardio in. Not to mention I'm no dancer so I'm sure I look quite funny to many people when doing the moves, but again I have fun. :)

FitGirly, I'm trying to get back to the track with my girls. I don't run or jog YET! You go GIRL :high: Good job on the inches also :)

Ona Thank You  I'm compiling recipes to get me through phase one. I made some unbelievable mini quiches... gonna try Mock pancakes. I really need to figure out how to stay full, so I'm not hungry late evening.

Kallismom good job on the 1.4lbs gone :)

Hi reptogirl

Heavy Nerd feel better

Starbrite, it's amazing to me how family can be the ones to offer no support. But again I just chalk it up to jealousy of some sort. We care how you're doing and you know that there are people of all shapes and sizes. He is just naive. I know it's easier said than done because I got some really interesting comments from my Mom and family when I started and she still hasn't said anything positive but oh well life goes on. I won't let her or anyone else get me down. I can do that on my own with BAD choices ... and then I come here for YOUR and everyone else support and inspiration. BIG BIG  to you :) ... and Great Job on your 0.2 today, that's what I did also

Pamatga, I noticed the same thing about my sodium, which had been rare on most days. I'm gonna log my meals for the last 2 days on SBD and see what the come to. Great job on the 2.4lbs. GONE :)

Diana Great Job on the 1.2lbs GONE :)

I'm learning( feel more at ease)cause I'm realizing that i can rest all day on Sunday and still hold my weight in check. This is huge for me cause for a year I've been stressing (to scared to stop) that if i don't exercise it will effect my weight lost. Now I see that i can still lose and have a rest day.:carrot:

The scale was not my friend today... I saw everything from 198.3 to 199.9, everything in between and never the same number twice  I'm okay without it though. Yesterday was the first weight lifting session I had with my wrist, it's still a bit tender, but I wanted to test it out so I only used 5 and 10 lb weights. Even that, after 2 months of not weight lifting felt great and this morning when I got out of bed, I felt heavy so I know I must be retaining some water. So today is two things for me, it's the start of my work fit for life challenge, yay, but it's also the start of a week of religious fasting (no I'm not fasting the entire week, but I am fasting each day of the week, which means I'm only eating one meal during the evening). However, there exceptions which allow me to eat fruits and nuts during the day (as long as I'm not stuffing myself with these) so I'm going to make sure I'm still getting something every few hours, going to make sure I still get my water in and then I'm going to do mini workouts after I break my fast in the evening, so I'm not running on fumes. I've got a plan, so I'll make it work! And if it doesn't, well my faith is important to me, so I can always pick it up again next week. But it will work!

Ona sounds like you're gaining some confidence in yourself! Great job on your 0.4

Rennie sorry to hear about the diabetes! It runs in my family, so it's always something I've been scared of as well  Glad you got the treadmill, it's so great to have something like that at home, I'm loving my elliptical.

Diana don't you just love month ends! great job on your 1.2 down.

pamatga you're doing great! Tracking what you eat and noticing where you gain and lose really helps you make better decisions for the future.

star I'm not impressed with your brother! You're going to hit your dress goal, buy a fabulous dress, go to that wedding and everyone's going to swoon when they see you!

Heavy Welcome to the thread! This is a great place to be.

reptogirl glad you had a great weekend. Just jump right back on track and you'll be fine!

Kallis  yard work can be a major workout.

Sebas I've never been a fan of turnips, but I may have to try that! Let me also add that I love the bracelet idea!

Aimee as horrible as it sounds, I gave up on 30DS on the third or fourth day. I need variety and I could not stand doing the same thing over and over again, it's the thing that kills me. Right now, I'm back to just basic lifting and cardio, but once the wrist fully heals I think I'll go back to New Rules of Lifting for Women, I really enjoyed the challenge with that. I'm also contemplating getting Zumba for my Wii.

I am down 1.6 of my gain to 182. Hopefully I will be back down to my 181 soon and I can fight my way into the 170s. I've decided that I am going to work up to a run/walk marathon around the track. That would be just slightly more than 94 laps in lane 8. I did 20 on Saturday. I'm not sure how long it will take me to work up to the 94, but that's my plan. Right now my speed when I am running some and walking some averages out to about 3.7mph. It would take me a little over 7 hours to complete a marathon at the speed. I figure my speed will increase as I am working on building up my number of laps though. Hubby thinks it's great, but my BFF thinks I'm insane. Am I insane? Ok, time for weights and zumba.

Starbrite - I am sorry that your brother is being such a twerp. We care! And there are many people who have had to lose as much and much more than you. You know that and you know he's full of it. Try not to let him get to you too much. I know that can be difficult with family, I have 4 brothers (one is a real jerk).

Happy Monday everyone!

Hi Everyone!!!! :grouphug:

Well the scale is at it again...I'm back up to 201.8. I'm not stressed out though. I had an AMAZING weekend. Went to a hockey game and then hung out with a friend. Had a great time. I noticed that it's difficult for me to eat on the weekend because I am too busy "doing". LOL That just feels silly to say! LOL Anywho, I made the best choices I could and accounted for everything I ate. Even with my estimations, I was within my calories. I feel good about every decision because I thought long and hard about them all. I know it's mostly water because I didn't eat clean by any stretch of the imagination. So I've got some good, quality calories packed to eat today and I am certain that my body will be thanking me for it within the next couple of days.

Back to the gym today after work. I am so excited. I am going for an elliptical workout today. My hip is still sore so I am going for a resistance workout today and definitely not speed.

I've got a lot of reading to do from the weekend, so you'll all forgive me if I pick up my personals today. :)

BBL!!!

Sounds like you had fun :) im sure the weight will come off soon! Ellipticals are amazing workouts!!!

Was up, went back to sleep, and down :) now at 271.2 which im happy about since I didnt exercise at all yesterday! I started yesterday this bread challenge, no bread this week or maybe this month! Going to be hard for me because I ate wheat bread with a lot of things.

I have a final today and tomorrow then after that will be on vacation for a week! Hoping to get a camera Wednesday from staples maybe and go walking around taking pictures, its been so long since I had a camera I like. I cant wait to walk around taking pictures!!! :D

Good morning! I'm down 1 of the 4lbs I've gained in the last few days, so I'll work hard on the others today. Had a great 'phase 1' breakfast this morning and I have chicken all precooked to add to a salad for lunch as well. I'm aiming for a big whoosh tomorrow with super-clean eating and with TOM on the way out again.

I'm behind from yesterday, so forgive me and please remind me if I miss anything specifically.

Ona -- Congrats on your .4! I'm sure you'll be rewarded one day for all the kindness and loving attention you give to your mother. Sometimes when I read the nice things you do for her, or your aunt, it reminds me to be kinder and gentler with my own mom. :) How do you make the cauliflower pizza crust?

Bulletproof -- 2 hours on the elliptical? Good lord I wish I had your energy!

Rennie -- I'm sorry to hear about the diabetes diagnosis. I hope it will give you even more fire power to eat right and exercise so that you can control it that way rather than with medication. I like to eat my meat sauce or tomato sauce and meatballs with spaghetti squash, it's not the same as pasta, but it's pretty yummy.

Rhonda -- I'm intrigued by your turnip fries. Sometimes I find turnip too bitter, so it's interesting that you mentioned they get kind of sweet. I might try grillng some and see how that turns out. I have a pandora bracelet that's about 1/2 full, so you just helped me figure out how to start filling up that other half!

Elaine -- :welcome: What's the Mediterranean diet all about? Congrats on your losses so far! I like your underwear

Roxy -- Good job on the run yesterday! It's not easy for me either, I run very slowly, but at least it's happening. I'm amazed at your calorie burn yesterday! Is that including your basic burn + exercise, or just exercise? Congratulations on your 1.6 loss today!

Kallismom -- Congrats on your 1.4 yesterday!

Heavynerd -- Congrats on your weigh in! Hope the chiro can work out the kinks for you.

Starbrite -- It's too bad when people in our lives with opportunities to support choose not to do so. It's his problem, not yours, try not to let it get to you. Maybe he has areas in his life that he wishes he could have as much success in as you have had in this. Sometimes when someone sees you taking control and succeeding it might feel to them as though it's highlighting what they haven't done.

Pam -- Good job on the whoosh! I think journaling all your food is a great plan to learn what works for your body.

Diana -- Congratulations on your whoosh! :carrot:

Kukkie -- Sounds like a good plan, I think it will help more than hurt. Good that you can have some fruit and nuts when you need them. Can I ask what the occasion is called? I'm always curious about other observances..I practice a mixed bag myself.

Matilda -- HOpe things settle down for you soon.

Vixsin -- Sorry about the gain, you'll have that gone in no time.

March 31: 219.8 (8.2 loss in March)

1: 219.4
3: 224.5
4: 225.2

It started with a BBQ luncheon and a piece of birthday cake on Friday (April 1) and then over the next few days it went on to include Golden Oreos, Cornbread muffins, popcorn, chocolate mint cookies, Chicken & Rice with potatoes on Saturday, french fries, Chicken Fajita Salad on Sunday (half of it for lunch and the rest for dinner), etc. I also had nearly no water over the weekend. There were a few attempts at healthy choices over the weekend, but mostly it was a "I just don't care" couple of days. :( I'm trying hard to care today . . . so far I've had a protein shake for breakfast and am getting ready to eat a grapefruit for snack.

The scale is the same as yesterday, 188.5. It was super nice here yesterday, close to 80! (And 40 degrees warmer than it is right now. Oh, Iowa. :P)

I went for a 20 mile bike ride, and got a little bit of a sunburn. I am really loving being able to get outside and be more active now that I'm getting into better shape! :)

Hi Friends! I'm up .4 today.

I'm intrigued by your turnip fries. Sometimes I find turnip too bitter.... So far, mine haven't been bitter. I've been told that if they are too bitter, they have not cooked long enough.

With all that's stressing me out right now I'm not surprised how much i ache right now. :stress: I'm really looking forward to the chiropractor on Tuesday I hope you find relief soon!

Plus he told me that no one gave a sh*t about my weight loss and that of course no-one could understand because no-one needed to lose as much as I have IMO, your brother needs to grow up! Seriously, why would someone say this to anyone at all? Hold your head up high and keep going. You're doing this for you. Forget the rest of them!

I measured yesterday. I've lost an inch off the waist, an inch off the butt and an inch of the thighs. I have probably lost more inches in places that I don't really measure as my clothes are fitting much more nicely.

Today, I need to finish pressure washing the front deck and do some housecleaning. I have probably 3 weeks of work to do in 1 week! LOL Have a great on-plan day.

Starbrite: I just read the post about your brother. I am really sorry that you had to go through that. It sounds like he is really jealous. Maybe not of the actual losing weight, but more about the fact that you set your mind to something and have had amazing results. For some, it is really difficult to set goals for themselves and then actually set things in motion to achieve them.

Just know that if you end up with the label of "Freak" for setting your mind to get yourself healthy, then sign me up and call ME a "Freak" too!!!!!

We freaks gotta stick together! Am I right?! :)

starting to get really frustrated.

i stay on plan with food, and exercise every day (with very few exceptions), and even make the exercise more challenging if it's too easy.

but my scale isn't moving :( i've been up and down in the same pound for a week now. today is 287.7. down 0.2 from yesterday, and only half a pound down from a week ago. it's making me wonder why i'm making such a drastic change if it's not going to do anything. i maintained this weight eating poorly and sitting on my butt most of the time. grrr...

HI Angie,

The Mediterranean diet is mostly fruits, vegetables, fish, olive oil, whole grains, legumes, very little red meat .. no processed foods. You have to be careful with portions of the grains and olive oil, but I am finding the program to be very satisfying and I feel good on it.

I've been gone for awhile because I let some nasty stuff going on in my life get to me and I started eating my feelings again. Which is NOT good. So here I am, dragging myself out of the food abyss YET again, about 10 pounds up, and ready to find a better coping mechanism. As long as I keep pulling myself up, right?

I have been feeling the same way lately. And I know it's supposed to be motivating to come on the site and see so many people doing so well (and it is), but sometimes I just want to pout and stomp my feet.

But quitting isn't the answer either. If I would have stuck with it all those weeks where I only lost .2 or .3, I would probably be at goal now! Instead I got frustrated and ate a pizza.

Today I am down 1.2 to 222.8 but still up a pound for the month.

Great workout tonight! 50 mins on the elliptical with all sorts of resistance. LOL

Calories are a little higher, closer to 1600-ish, I burned 600 tonight. No gym tomorrow. :crossed: that the hip doesn't scream at me in the morning.

I am going to make sure to get a full 8 hours of sleep tonight. I'm off to have my Greek yogurt and watch a little something before bed.

my food is probably not the *best* food, but it's all fairly low calorie, and fits in my budget (meaning already in my kitchen until i can go shopping again), and i make sure they all fit in my calorie/fat range (meaning 1600-1800 calories per day, no meals over 15g fat).

breakfast is traditionally 2 pieces of wheat toast w/ sugar free jam (between 150-200 calories), an activia light yogurt (70 calories), and an orange (70 calories) or a banana (120 calories), so approx 400cals depending on the variation.

lunch i tend to have instant oatmeal, because i'm on a time limit (1 hour away from work) and it's quick, plus it's good for helping to lower blood pressure. 2 packets (depending on the flavor) is around 260 calories, and grapes/carrots/applesauce/sugar free jello/pudding, whichever strikes my mood, so for argument's sake, 100 calories. OR i'll have a smart ones meal (which is always packed with sodium, but it's also always quick and fits in my calorie limit, and i try to drink extra water with them)

dinner i usually have a small salad of iceberg lettuce, spinach, shredded carrots, i think cabbage is in it (it's the bagged mix, and i add spinach), with raspberry or vidalia onion vinaigrette dressing OR a thing of veggies (peas/lima beans/creamed spinach/steamed mixed veggies) from the freezer. with that i've had a fish fillet and potato, or sometimes i'll have a quick freezer meal (if i didn't have one for lunch - i limit them to 1 per day, and try not to have them on successive days), when i'm off i grill up some chicken breast, and sometimes will toss a severing of that into my salad, or eat it by itself with a little bit of bbq sauce.

i rarely have time to cook after work, because i don't get home until 10:30, and i don't want to eat much later than 11:30, since i tend to go to bed around 2 or 3 am. (my job is fairly physical, and i'm always very hungry when i get home from work at night, skipping dinner isn't an option, but i do try to keep it light) i tend to do my exercising when i get home from work, and right before i eat. i know i should probably do them in the morning before work, but i've got a really bad ankle, i do not like to go into work already limping. i put the ice on it after my exercises at night while i'm eating dinner.

snacks are usually 100 cal granola bars, 140 cal fiber bars, or a 100cal ice cream bar.

i drink an 8oz glass of skim milk either with breakfast or lunch, 90 calories. the rest of the day i drink .5L bottles of water, usually plain, but sometimes with a packet of crystal light (10 calories per bottle) if i need the caffeine boost. i do not drink sodas or sugary juices, ever.

i will admit to not measuring sometimes, but if i do that, i tend to add in the calories for another half or whole serving, depending on what i did not measure.

my exercise is mostly at night after work (i work a 2-10:30 shift most days) and i spend 30-45 mins on the wii, usually "walk it out" or the "wii fit" games - specifically the advanced hula (4 minutes of the hula motion and that will work your abs like whoa) and then the free step to my favorite music for the remainder of my time.

i limit my exercise to what my ankle can handle, and if it's not 30mins or more, i will sit in my chair and dance (yes i know that's weird) for a while, because i can feel that working my abs and it also ups my heart rate. or i will do a few reps with my arms using my weights.

i have to mop a large area of polished concrete floors every night, i do this for approximately 20 minutes. i can tell there's some physical progress because the first time i did it i was out of breath and my arms were sore, and now at the end of the night i am no longer sore or out of breath after mopping.

my typical dinner, and by typical i mean probably 2-3 nights a week, used to be hitting the mcd's on the way home for a burger and fries. if not there, then i'd go to the wawa next door and get a sub with bacon/cheese/mayo with whatever meat. i try not to eat lunch meats anymore because of the sodium, but i do occasionally have a turkey sandwich with mustard, a small amount of light mayo, and some lettuce. no more cheese. no more bacon. i will cave to a PBJ sometimes, but i've switched to reduced fat peanut butter, sugarfree jam, and i only make a fold over, instead of using 2 slices of bread.

i have made a lot of changes, and i know they aren't the most healthy foods in the world, but they are much healthier than what i've been eating for the last year. i honestly can't afford to buy a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. (i get maybe 50-60 dollars for every 2 weeks to spend on food) so i try to supplement with frozen or canned, and i do look for "no salt added" or "canned in water" instead of syrup.

if you've got feedback that's not "you need to eat more whole foods/less processed foods" (meaning more expensive foods and less cheap foods), then i'm all ears.

edit to add: i just recently started on birth control pills a week or so ago, as well as taking my daily claritin for allergies. i also take a daily multi-vitamin. (i don't know if any of that factors in, but i thought i might provide all the info)

edited again to add: i've also got PCOS.

From my experience it doesn't really matter which type of birth control pill you're on, starting to take them has a tendency to throw your hormones into chaos and it can take a little while to work itself out... That alone can certainly wreak havoc on appetite / water retention / all sorts of things related to weight loss!

according to this: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

i shouldn't be going below 2300 calories per day...

i don't know if i can eat that much and still keep my fat content down? maybe i'll try next week to toss in a couple of those days to see what the scale does at the end of the week.

k0nfyo0zed, I wouldn't change anything yet. A week without moving isn't abnormal. I'm around your weight, and for me, anything above 1500 makes it tough for me to lose even 2 a week. Are you drinking enough water? My weight loss stinks if I drink less than 80-100 ounces.

Weigh in: 271.6-down 4.6 lbs since April 1st. I have been doing my best to keep my sodium intake below 2700 mg and it is helping me remove that stubborn water bloat I was carrying throughout March. It makes me feel even more determined to knuckle down and keep pushing it further down.

Diane we also had some loud thunderstorms last night here in Atlanta. The wind was really loud as well so I stayed up and made homemade chicken noodle soup (my DH fav) during the storms. The aroma woke him up around 2 am. I had a cup of it before I went to bed around 3:30 am.
Star glad to hear you are finding the support that you need.
k0nfyo0zed I'm no expert about calories in vs calories out but I have actually found that I do better having about 10-15 grams more of fat than what is recommended on my BL food plan. It takes more energy for your body to burn fat and protein, or so I read. I noticed that you had two processed foods for lunch --there is a lot of sodium in the instant puddings/Jellos (check the box) also those Smart Ones are also full of sodium. From what you posted here, you are probably victim to more sodium than your body can handle. I understand the convenience but if you were to switch out some of those quick in the microwave kind of meals I think you would see more of a weight lose. I have really become acutely aware of sodium and its impact on how I both retain and even gain weight. Having those processed energy bars is also both more expensive and less nutritious than a whole fruit or even a piece of cheese. I think if you bought simple whole foods which can and are very portable they would both fit in your lifestyle and budget but also give you the results you are looking for. People mistakenly believe low calorie means weight lose. It isn't. Start tracking your sodium intake (keep between 1500-2000 mg per day) and tell us what happens. I think you will honestly be surprised. I have the shortcut to McDonald's menu on my pc and, for example, the filet o fish, which I have been eating during Lent is 980 mg sodium alone. The medium fries are 380 mg. Do you see how you are ingesting a lot of sodium, very little fiber and why it is stalling your weight lose? I have been keeping a detailed food log for several months and once I made the connection between all of this I could control the results more. I will continue to share throughout this month because I have already seen amazing results in just 4 days.

I am almost 58 years old, I have had PCOS for 25 years, I also take OTC allergy medicine and I am going through menopause which is even worse because I have two menstrual cycles every 4-5 weeks. Yes, two! I also have advanced arthritis and I am very limited in what I can do physically.

I know you give the argument that eating less processed foods is more expensive but that is an urban myth, which I think is perpetuated by food manufacturers who want your food dollar and could care less what they are giving you for nutrients. I have been unemployed for 18 months and I really have to watch my food dollar. Those bars you eat alone are between $2.50-3.00 for 4-6. On your limited food budget you are getting ripped off by buying some of these foods you have listed. That is my opinion.

You can buy a bag of apples for the same price that will fill you up longer and probably will last you all week. You can buy a bag of baby carrots already cut and cleaned for under $2.00. Add, eggs, tuna, whole wheat pasta (under $2.00 for a box that can lasts 5-6 meals). Regular oatmeal which has no sodium can be made up in a large batch, stored in the refrigerator and taken out to reheat in the microwave. I don't spend a lot of time preparing meals either ( I also have the same schedule as you).

I doubt whether I convinced you but I have found better results when there are less chemicall sounding ingredients in my foods than not. I guess, what will convince you will be results. I hope to show you in the coming month (s) how I will lose by doing what I have just said.

Angie

Morning all! I'm down another 1.4 of the TOM pounds I had gained...1.6 to go. Sticking to plan like glue again today.

Mandy -- I think your plan looks pretty good generally. The one suggestion I'd make to try to move to lowering your carbs a bit and increasing your protein. I know there are several others on this thread who have PCOS and I think I've seen them mention a sensitivity to carbs, so it might help you from that perspective too. I find I don't have a lot of time either to prepare foods during the week, so I do try to do some prep for the week on Sunday; I will cook some chicken breasts or extra lean ground beef to throw in with things later or put on a sandwich with low cal wraps or pitas. I'm sure you'll get more good advice here. :)

The scale really really irritated me this morning. Day 1 of fasting went fine, but I was so tired because work was so busy that I didn't work out last night. So I jump on the scale this morning to see 198.6, happy that yay at least I maintained, only to double check and got a weird number and thereafter proceeded to get everything from the 197s to the 202s. Are you kidding me?! This is a relatively new scale, so I'm not sure what the problem is and I think the batteries are pretty new as well. Oy vay.

Good Morning Everyone,

I was so hungry last night and I bought a carne asada burrito. My absolute favorite. I got it without cheese (not on purpose but hey it is better for me that way anyways) and without thinking of my teeth. So it took me almost an hour to eat it. However I thought I had ruined my day, but when I looked up the calories it put me at about 1000cal for the day. More than I have been eating for sure, but still under what I should be getting. I will no longer be taking the phentermine as my doctors head doctor told her that she may not prescribe it. Oooops to her. So what I have left is all I am getting. This is more than likely for the best seeing as I have not been eating enough and not losing because of it. I am worried that I will start gaining once I am eating the proper number of calories, but it should balance out right? Also, can anyone tell me approximately how many calories I should be taking in? I am 5'7'' 23 years old and 224lbs. I exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Though I did nothing yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Oh, and although I am still battling the scale at 224 lbs today, I feel like I am losing. My pants are loose today and the fat right above my stomach but just below my breasts sort of where the underwire goes is gone! No more little roll. Woo hoo!

166.2 this morning, another stress filled weekend.

I can't help but wonder if he is taking joy in pissing me off seriuosly. He is now saying that he "never had a choice" when I had Jack . . . scuse me, I told him he could walk out from the begining if he couldn't or didn't want to be a father. If you're in, you're in - he chose to be in. NOW I find out there is a new girl he is living with, has been telling people Jack is his Godson and is refusing to admit he ever intended to be a supportive parent.
Messing with the wrong girl I tell you . . . I literally feel sick to my stomach everytime I hear from him. I have to see him in 2 weeks to exchange the car/furniture but after that it's all threw lawyers. I feel horrible for my little man, he deserves so much better than that. Any advice from anyone having gone through this type of thing would be greatly appreciated.
Crappy weekend indeed GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I'll have to catch up with everyone . . . busy busy weekend it looks like

Welcome to all the new people to the forum - you'll love it here, more support and understanding and encouragement than you'll find anywhere.

I'm down another .4 to 181.6, .6 to go to get to my pre-TOM weight.

Vixsin - I have that some problem some weekends. I usually hit Quiznos since I have discovered it doesn't cause my scale to be angry with me (usually). I also keep at least 1 protein bar, 1 fiber bar, and an apple with me at all times, if I know I'm going to be out and about the whole day I pack other snacks too. Maybe you could find a couple places to eat around you that are scale friendly and pack snacks?

Angie - My calories burned number comes from my bodybugg, so it includes every calorie burned - resting rate, exercise, incidental activity, all of it.

Mandy - I don't really have a lot of feedback as far as your food goes because of the budget issues. I will say that you can add veggies pretty cheaply if you get the frozen ones. Also, if you have a Whole Foods near you then look into TVP. I learned about it from another 3FC chick (kaplods). I mix it with really cheap ground meats and it cuts the calories and fat and bulks up the amount of food. I also put it into stews and things. Beans are also really good nutritionally and they are very cheap. The main thing I wanted to ask you about is the PCOS. Do you have medical insurance? Are you on meds for the PCOS? If you have insurance ask your doc about a medicine called Januvia. It is a relatively new diabetes med that they are now starting to give to PCOS patients. I've been on it since June '09 and it is awesome. My weight loss will always be slow because of the PCOS, but it is easier now that I have the Januvia. I also try to balance my carbs and proteins in each meal to help lose weight with PCOS. Google the IR diet. There is a book, but the diet is so simple that you don't really need to spend money to get the book.

BeTrue - I don't know how many calories you should have, but I do think that being off the pills is probably for the best. Also, congrats on the loss of your little roll :yay:

Bulletproof - :congrat: on buttoning shirts!

Coondocks - I don't have kids and have no idea how you should deal with this, but want to give you and Jack a giant

Ok, I'm off to let my trainer be evil to me. Have an awesome Tuesday everyone!

The scale was good to me today. Down 1.4 to 200.4. Good scale. LOL It's nice to see the water weight from the weekend go away. I am sore from yesterday's workout, and achy from sleep, so I'm confident that there is more water weight to disappear soon. :)

Going to dinner with my super healthy friends tonight. LOVE IT!!! My kashi pizza people! Woo hoo! I'm so excited.

Might do a little strength work tonight. Or maybe some Yoga. I can't decide. LOL

Hello folks. I have not checked in for a few days because I needed to take a break from 3FC - I was losing patience with folks whining "I only lost 17 pounds this month!" or "omg my weight is up 0.001 pounds from last week WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???!?!?!?!" I found myself wanting to verbally smack people so it seemed time to PUT DOWN THE INTERNET AND BACK AWAY SLOWLY.

It has been a very trying couple of weeks for me, obviously - testing my patience, my resolve, my ability to fight through melancholy. Anyway. Carter is strong like ox! GRRRRR! This morning I was finally back down to 193, my current low (first seen 7 days ago and followed by a hella tenacious bounce). I'll take it, for now. Hope everyone is feeling strong and in control! :dizzy:

You know what? I'm am so tired of this. I'm tired of seeing huge bounces when I eat something I "can't have" but still eat way less than maintenance calories. I'm the tired of the days where I'm perfectly on plan and still don't lose anything. I'm taking in a net calorie deficit of between 5,000 and 7,000 calories a week, and I haven't lost a pound in almost a month. I'm sick of counting everything I put in my mouth and having to look at the same stupid numbers every day on this thread.

That is all.

Hi Friends! I'm down .4 today.

Coondocks - I'm so sorry to hear about how nasty he is being. I've never been through anything like this, so I have no words of wisdom. Just lots of encouragement.:hugs:
Chloekinisicle - I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through some nasty stuff. I hope you are going through some more peaceful times now.
Diana - Weren't those thunderstorms crazy? My house was trembling from the heavy gusts of wind.
Bulletproof heart - Congraulations on your wonderful shirt NSV!
Carter - I'm sorry. I had to giggle at your post. I don't like whining, either. :D
BeTrueToYou - I usually go with 1800 calories a day to start. Anything higher than 2000 and I have no loss unless I'm working out like a maniac.

To those of you who are losing slowly....my 2 cents. There is a very prevalent school of thought here on 3FC that all calories are created equal. However, for many of us, that is not the case. I am very sensitive to carbohydrates. I lose weight only when I remove fruit and grains from my diet and eat no processed sugar at all. I encourage each of you to try experimenting with the sources of your daily calories.

Today, spring cleaning continues for me. Yesterday, all I heard from my youngest daughter and her friend was "I'm bored. What can we do?" Ugh! I had tons for them to do, but they didn't want to do any of it. They wanted something "fun." Doesn't getting a clean house qualify as fun?

Have a great on-plan day.

NikiiBabie Hi and Welcome! Congrats on your progress, so far.

Kukkie Don't let the scale ruin your day. Do what what works for you and it will work out in the end.

Starbrite - I'm glad that your future sister-in-law at least can be civil! :)

pamatga - It sounds like you are having a fantastic April so far, way to go!

BeTrueToYou - Braces are really terrible. I hope that you get yours quieted down soon.

Last night after I left my office I walked across campus to get my car (about 1.5 miles) and when I got there I realized I was pretty bored. I figured I would probably go home and hang out on the couch for several hours before going to bed. Instead, I went to the gym and got in 60+ minutes of pretty intense cardio.

This morning I checked weather.com and it said 40 degrees, but calm winds. So I grabbed my bike to go for a ride before heading in to work. It really wasn't cold at all, but the wind also wasn't calm! I think I had a 15mph head wind and was only going about 8mph on my way out. I decided to only do a 10 mile route instead of the 20 miles I had originally considered doing. But on the way back, I was going about 15 mph or faster, so... At least that made me feel better about the stupid wind. :)

Weight still the same though, 188.5 for Day #3 now.

i don't know if it was the scale being nice, my body hearing my threats to go back to greasy gross food, or water weight finally making an exit, but wii fit this morning said 286.4 (-1.3lbs).

thank you to everyone for your advice. i can go grocery shopping on monday, finally, after i get paid, and since i'll have that day off, i'll take the time to cook up some lean meats, and i'll buy some more fresh fruits and veggies (i'm down to a couple oranges and small bundle of grapes!)

i apologize for my temper tantrum. last year when i managed to lose 35lbs this is the plan i followed, and it seemed to come off a little quicker. of course, i hadn't just started on the pill then, so i'm going to chalk it up to hormonal adjustments and continue on as i have been with the food and exercise for another week to see how the scales react, then i'll see about making major changes.

I can't wait to weigh in tomorrow -- my fingers are skinny again, so hopefully I'll have lost that last bit of water I was holding onto. I've got 348 calories left for today, but I'm not going to eat them...I really want to get back to 214 point something and then 213 which will mark 60lbs lost for me. It's been so long since I hit a milestone!

Nikiibabie - :welcome: Looks like you are having a great month already!

Kukkie -

Betrue - I would try a site like loseit.com or fitday.com to come up with the recommended calories for you...you'll have to answer a few questions there and poof it will give you the recommendation. Farewell to your roll!

Bulletproof -- Stick with your plan, the scale will start moving again soon. I'm happy to hear you can wear those shirts the way they were meant to be worn now, great NSV!

Coondocks -- Ugh, he's being a self-centred jerk right now. My experience with this is my own dad -- he and my mom split up when I was about a year old, they had married because she was pg. He left my life and I didn't meet him again until I was about 9 years old. It sounds sh!tty, but honestly, he wasn't ready to be a dad, and in the end he came back into my life ready to be a real dad, and has been the best I could ask for ever since. Now, of course, my mom wasn't really ready to be a mom at 19 either, but she was left to hold the bag until he had finished growing up. No hard feelings now, I love my dad to bits. I just thought I'd tell you the story because maybe Shaun needs time to grow into the Dad role too, sometimes even these awful situations can have end up with a happy ending. In this case for Jack, if not for you.

Kel - Great job in March!

MadameZ -- Congratulations on getting to 169!

Kris -- Please don't be so hard on yourself...you made some bad choices but they don't define you.

Roxy -- Congrats on your .4! Thanks for adding me on facebook!

Vixsin - Good job on your 1.4! Enjoy your time with friends tonight :)

Carter - Welcome back! Congrats on your new low. I get frustrated with others who lose faster but complain too sometimes...it can get to anyone, and especially when you are struggling. We are all human.

Rhonda -- To those of you who are losing slowly....my 2 cents. There is a very prevalent school of thought here on 3FC that all calories are created equal. I have to have a lot of protein and fiber, and less carbs and sugar to get the scale moving. Lol @ your daughter & friend, my DS is still young enough to think it's super-fun to help me wash the floor or dust!

Mandy -- Congratulations on your 1.3!

Kallismom -- Sometimes holding steady is good too...anything unusual going on for you that might be causing you to hold on to some water?

Jeri -- Good job on your .2!

Letsworkitout -- Congrats on your .6!

Had my first personal training session yesterday. I haven't been exercising through this journey- just kept moving with the dogs etc. Well, yesterday was the start of a new addiction -exercise :D I haven't run since I was 300lbs, when asked to run two laps of the gym I set off. Starbrite, if you're adding resistance training, you're going to love what it does for your body. Be prepared to see a little bump on the scale as your muscles adjust to the workload (and hold fluid like a mo-fu while they adjust!). In the long run it will all be worth it.

Weigh In: 271.2 lb.

I am down exactly 5 lbs since April 1st.

I attribute this to really watching the sodium and trying to eat less of it(yesterday was 2000 mg--the lowest I have had in ages), drinking copious amounts of water and strictly following a fruit n vegetable challenge in another group I "belong".

Star :congrat: see that is all you needed for a good night's sleep, to work off some of that pent up anxiety you were carrying. I/we are so very proud of you. You are a dear one, star!
Wtg angie-lose anything is always good news!

Rhonda I totally agree with you that what you eat is as important as how many calories you eat. I can actually eat more food calorie wise IF (big if here) I eat them from fruit, plain vegetables, whole grains and less meat. You are so right, we all have to find out what works for us. This is not a "one size (or plan) fits all" I have had 5 really good days, which my poor bruised ego needed after the horrible month of March I had. I also want to thank Star for taking the time to share with me her "secrets" of weight lose in a PM. I did listen Star.

:welcome2: nikkibaby and :welcome: back Carter!

Bullet a NSV is a victory and certainly worth running the flag up the pole on that.
Konfyoosed we are pulling for you. Now, that you are on the pill, you just might have to be more careful with sodium.

Anyone else I may not missed, you are in my heart and thoughts. Have a great and blessed day, all!

Up again to 201.3... I'm not stressing, I knew this week would be an off week with the fasting, especially since all we can eat for dinner is variations on potatoes. I was hoping to get in my mini workouts after breaking my fast because I'd then have some fuel in my system, but the past two days I found that wasn't really working for me, I get really tired afterwards and don't want to do anything. So I woke up earlier this morning and did some intervals on the elliptical. We'll see how that works for the rest of the week.

Angie I know you asked this earlier this week, but it's called navratre or navratri depending on who you ask. It translates into "nine nights" but since Hinduism follows the lunar calendar, we don't fast for nine calendar days... I take that back, because again it depends on who you ask!

NO change for me today, my own fault for drinking next to no water yesterday so no gain is more surprising than anything.

Thank you all for the supportive words about my current woes . . . I was told last night that he wants "No contact with Jack in the future, I have nothing to do with him"
A few friends think this was said to make me angry, but it didn't, it was somewhat of a relief. I feel horrible for that precious little boy, but at the same time I am relieved that he will not be toyed with growing up and the male influence will not be one of self centered heartless nature. He will be responsible for child support despite his theory he isn't. In the long run, Jack will end up with a mom who is healthy, no longer stressed out, happy, dedicated to making our lives better and is already surrounded by so many people that love and adore him. What happens in the future we will see, but based on what I've seen the last few months, the 'dad' in Shaun will not come out in Jack's life.
That's the end of that, i need not give it any more of my energy, emotion or concern - my lawyer can do that.

Phewwww. I feel better :)

It was amazing. I had 2 pcs of the pizza and just snacked on crackers, veggies and the dips. I didn't count everything out but didn't go willy-nilly either. I was proud.

Gym after work today. More elliptical resistance love. I've decided to stick with the elliptical for the month of April. My hip feels good. I don't want to push my luck with running. Honestly, I'm just tickled that I can exercise, so I want to continue with the exercise that doesn't bother my hip so much, ya know?

Coon: I'm sorry Shaun's being a poop. Jack is so lucky to have you. I speak from experience when I say that he will see how being healthy will make a difference in how happy you are. He will pick up on and feed off of it.

Starbrite: WTG on the run!!! Exercising is great! I am excited for this part of your journey to start! I can't wait to hear about the changes as your body really takes shape!

Kukkie: Good job on getting that workout early. I love to workout in the morning.

LetsWork: Congrats on that .8

 to anyone I missed. I need to get something done here at work this morning!

I got rid of the .6 and am down to my pre-TOM 181. Now in just 1 more pound I will be half-way there.

Carter - Glad to see you back, but I can totally understand the need to step away sometimes. There are some people in my offline life that I have to do that with on occasion.

CoCo - So glad TOM finally stopped for you. Been there (a little over 3 months one time), I know it sucks.

Mandy - Congrats on the loss. Everybody needs a little tantrum once in a while.

starbrite - Yay for exercise addiction. I'm glad it went well. Congrats on good sleep and the loss.

Coondocks - I have a friend whose son's mother does the in and out of his life kind of visits. If your options are not at all or that, not at all is probably better anyway. I have seen that boy get his little heart broken when his mom promised she was coming and then didn't show because something more important came up so many times. No father is better than a bad father, IMO.

Time to go sweat! Happy Wednesday!

WOW!!! 168! I can't believe that! I was excited just to see 169 and I got another gift today! And since I've been absent for a while today I'm going to do personals!

FitGirlyGirl Congrats on getting back down, my mind goes a little crazy when I see fluctuations during my period. It's like... "I'm already hormonal, do I really need to know I'm bloated too?!!?"

Vixsin OH that sounds lovely. Hummus is my favorite, I got a tub of low fat hummus the other day.

Coondocks I'm still trying to drink the recommended amount of water but once I see light pee I stop, It's hard to drink so much! I hope things work out with your situation, you sound like a good mom and trust me, one parent can do the job. ;)

Kukkie Potatoes for dinner sounds like my idea of awesome... BUT maybe not the best for weight loss. ;) Congrats on having the energy to get up and moving because I am not a get up in the morning and workout kind of person.

letsworkitout Congrats! Keep up the good work!

pam Congrats! 5 pounds is like a Chihuahua! :D

carter I take what I can get. When I see numbers going down I just get greedy and want to keep the scale going. I'm bad!

Angie You can do it!!! I know what it's like to think "Wow, I just lost XX pounds." It's satisfying to see even numbers for some reason.

starbrite you are going to loveee your personal trainer. Glad you slept better and didn't have any odd nightmares!

carter yay for new lows!

pamatga 5 pounds since the beginning of the month is fabulous! That sodium reduction really does make a difference. I absolutely love the quote in your signature, really rang true with me today!

LetsWorkItOut great job on the 0.8!

Angie down is down girlfriend!

 Diana

Coon I'm so sorry to hear about all the struggles with Shaun. I agree that the best thing for Jack is to have you healthy and happy. You're an amazingly strong person and based on what's happened in last while with the doofus, you're so much better off without him! I just can't believe how quickly it went downhill with someone who was like your best friend. Moving on to better and brighter things friend  Love the darling in your avatar!

Vixsin thanks girl! I have a question for you, how do you manage to stay on the elliptical for so long? I get so bored, so quickly!

FitGirlyGirl great job on the 0.6 - that pound is going to be gone oh so very quickly!

Madame it is pretty awesome, but on the flip side I don't like seeing the numbers it gives me. Oh well, it's just one week. I'm not a morning workout person at all - I had a trainer a few years ago who could noticeably see the difference in me when I'd come in the mornings vs the evenings  But I really need to be wise about this week, so I guess I'm doing what I gotta do!

Bullet I'm going to ask you too, how the heck do you manage to stay on the elliptical for sooo long?!

Ona Thanks Ona! yay for the new number!

 to anyone I may have missed! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day!

I have no idea  Mine has 30min workouts that I do it will go from like 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,4,6,8 something like that for resistance I dont know if thats why and other people dont do it like that but if it was not for being boring I could stay on for a while

@OnaMi
I would do that for 5 also but my class starts at 5! so unless I ate at like 4:30 and then only ate an orange when I came home not sure how well that would work!

Kukkie Hi

Coondocks It's amazing how people change, sometimes. At least Jack has you.

Vixsin Congrats on the .2 and for doing so well at your dinner last night.

Fitgirlygirl Congrats on the .6.

Madame Wow! Congrats!

CocoMonkey Nice job!

Bulletproof Great job on getting that exercise in!

Ona Congrats on your weigh in. Hmm, it wasn't me that said greens are bitter. I LOVE all kinds of greens! I don't have to put any sweetener in them. Are you watching the Family Circle Tennis matches? I thought you liked tennis, but I'm not sure if you follow this. The place they are having this is about 5 miles away.

Vixsin thanks girl! I have a question for you, how do you manage to stay on the elliptical for so long? I get so bored, so quickly!

Like Bullet said, I do alot of work with the resistance level. For example, I'll warm up for 5 minutes at a low resistance like 10. After that, I'll bump it up to 12 and go for 5 more minutes. Bump to 13 for 5 mins. or straight up to 15 for 10 minutes. I now try to go up into the higher levels (above 20) for a minute or so at a time and I put it all the way up to the highest for 30 seconds, just to challenge myself that much more.

Also, music is key for me. I have techno music blasting in my ears and I can't help but to get moving when techno is on. It is very easy for me to lose myself in the music I am listening to and take myself to a whole different place in my head where I am at goal and enjoying life to the fullest.

@Vixsin
Oh wow my elliptical doesn't go that high o.o I think the highest setting on mine is 12! I havent even done 12

Music does help a lot! If I have a upbeat song it helps keep me going I figured out if I have a slower song playing I go slower
