It's Saturday! So, why am I up so early? I had a miserable night's sleep and when I was just about to finally give up trying to sleep, Jake got up at the same time. Seems we both had trouble sleeping. :dizzy:
I'm not sure what the day holds for me. I'm waiting to hear from my DD, and we may go shopping in the city. But if not, I'll be content to spend a quiet day at home, since Jake will be gone all day.
Yesterday was just gorgeous, and milked every minute out of it. I filled several pots with colorful pansies for my front steps and tidied up the flower beds. I had all the windows in the house open until almost 9 last night. :) Today's going to be a different story, though, as we're back to the cold, windy and cloudy days.

So how's your Saturday shaping up? :cofdate:

Good morning early birds :coffee2: I've got a full pot of coffee, bet you'd like another cup. I'm off to a full day training I'm coordinating so no play for me today. I did knock off early yesterday and ran some errands and relaxed a little.

Not much news around here, it's all work, work, work :) I'm going to load the crockpot before I go so I have yummy dinner to look forward to. Have a lovely Saturday friends!

I wish you and Jake had been more quiet, Linda! I was up early too and have been goofing off ever since, grumbling to myself about all I have to do today. I am so envious of your pansy planters! It'll be another month at least around here.

Yesterday was a wash. :( Any day that starts with dog barf, an oven element blowing and a tax refund shrinking is not going to be good. A little retail therapy helped. I now have a new stove, new fridge and new TV coming next week! That'll show them. I'm spending my children's inheritance! ;)

The  Hyper Pypers are coming up this afternoon with their two dogs. That should be interesting as the dog yard is 3/4 underwater. Disney avoids it but wee Jazz goes right in. Baily Pyper is a Portuguese Water Dog and will join him but Casey Pyper, a hound, will keep Disney company. I'm hoping a lot of it drained away overnight. Since I have now oven, I'm using it as an excuse and will serve them all pizza, Caesar salad and a fruit salad.

The other usual stuff will fill up my day but tomorrow, aside from Church, is all mine! I hope your Saturday is fun and also relaxing. :cofdate:

Thanks for the coffee, Cyndi. :) I was just about to get up to refill my mug. Sorry you have to work today, but I hope you get to make up for it one day soon.

Sorry we were too loud, Ruth. But at least you have a head start on your day! Would you like me to send some pool toys up for the dog pond?

Cyndi, you snuck in on me! Too bad you have to work today but I'm glad you got a break yesterday. Hmmm - crockpot. I could feed the Pypers chili instead of pizza. Thanks for the idea.

Good Morning:sunny:

Thanks for getting us started, Linda. I'm sure sorry you slept so poorly. I'm tickled that you've gotten to put some pansies in. I think it's a wee bit early for that here, but it's coming soon! Have fun, whatever you do today.

Cyndi, sorry you have to work...drats! Is this scene supposed to get better?

Ruth, it must be Spring if the hyper Pipers are coming! Glad you've got working appliances again.

Me, had a dream that the company showed up two days early...I think it means I'd better get going. I'll probably go to the club and ride the exercise bike...unless I get to the pool early it will be filled with kids on spring break.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Ruth - chili is basically what we are having :) I know you will be ready to sit back and relax when I get home. Too bad it's not warm enough for wine on the porch.

Cottage - I'm off to my parents for a 4 day weekend the week after next. I'm thinking about taking an extra day to relax :)

Good morning!

I'm sorry to read about all the interrupted sleep. :(

Well, we had wonderful springlike weather yesterday but it's snowing again this morning. I guess I can't complain though, it is only March.

I've got to be out of here by 6:30, I'm taking some teens to a conference today. I'll check in this afternoon with personals and to see who else pops in after I leave. (Linda, I'm going to pick up coconut and dark chocolate while I'm out so that I can make your cookies this evening if I'm not too wiped out.)

Enjoy your Saturday friends!

Good morning, ladies! I feel so good! For the first time in ...EVER I am not worried about the scale! I'm not letting it dictate to me how to feel. I am measuring my days on plan and ability to stay on track or get back on track after a planned cheat meal. It feels good! And I know that the more days that I have under my belt , the smaller my belt will become ;) ! My husband and I are taking our son (14) to his first concert tonight and staying at a hotel after. I'm a bit concerned with the food availability for me! Lunch and dinner should be okay (I hope we can go somewhere with some stuff for me) but breakfast is deluxe continental on the drive home! I hope that means they'll have some protein??? I'll settle for hard boiled eggs!!!

Good morning everyone! I slept in a little bit and look what happens...Saturdays are my most favorite day of the week. This morning I'm going out for a walk, doing a bit of shopping errands, and then spending some time preparing food for next week (and dying my hair).

This afternoon we are going to a place that was featured on "Man vs. Food" for lunch - Brennan and Carr, a roast beef place here in Brooklyn. The place is literally a shack plunked into the middle of a parking lot. In any case they supposedly have the "best roast beef in Brooklyn" so I'll have a sandwich minus the bread but can't promise I won't sample the cheese wiz and an onion ring or two to go along with it. Then we are going out to explore an area called Broad Channel, where the houses are literally on stilts. You would never believe you were in Brooklyn/Queens. A quiet evening at home though, I think.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

My teen got his accepted to one of his top pick colleges yesterday! And a merit scholarship. Woo hoo! Couldn't resist sharing one of his senior pics.

I'm getting a cold. First one in ages. Downing zinc and Airborne but think I will be grumpy today. Hope I am not too demotivated to exercise. Especially since my eating was horrible the past two days. Horrible.

My oldest flies back to campus today. Teen has two indoor soccer games this weekend. Busy!

Linda - Me too. Couldn't wait for it to be reasonable hour to get out of bed.

Cyndi - Crockpots are such a great invention.

Ruth - LOL. When my appliances start dying it will be very expensive because I want stainless steel!

Debbie - I love seeing your face. I'm sick of my own though so need to find a fun avatar.

Heidi - I like my teens in small numbers and doses!

Kristen - Woo hoo! What concert?

Matilda - So brave to dye your own hair. I tried once and couldn't get the back! Enjoy your day.

Yea for Saturday!!

Found out last night that my son is going to be in two more plays. He is going to be the littlest kid in Cheaper by the Dozen and one of the Snow children in Carousel. This means he has tone of rehearsals. Today he has Cheaper by the Dozen rehearsal from 9:45-12:00 and Alice in Wonderland from 12:00-2:30. Lots of time spent at the theater for us. Its a good thing I can bring my laptop and Nook. It is supposed to be beautiful weather so I might sneak out during Alice practice and go for a walk.

That will obviously suck up my day, so not much else planned.

Have a great day!!!

Karen they are an Irish punk/rock band! I live outside of Boston, too!!!! I'm sure you have heard of them. They're songs are played at Redsox games and Bruins games (Tessie and Shipping out to Boston)!

Good morning! (For those of you who get up at 5:00, I'm sure 10:00 a.m. sounds like mid-afternoon, but for me, this is morning.) We have a beautiful day in DC. The cherry blossoms are just starting to think about opening, it's sunny and cool.

Thanks to all for the warm welcomes back. I'm glad to be here. I have two goals. The first is to make it through the next ten days -- that should get me back on track. And the second, much bigger, is making it through the 5 days after that, because I'll be back at work and I'm on the go nonstop.

I'm on spring break, but I have a very long To Do list. The next two days I have to do next year's schedule of classes. It would work wonderfully if our teachers would only agree to teach two classes at the same time!

Have a greak weekend. Enjoy your pansies!!

Happy Saturday everyone! The weather is absolutely beautiful here today! Got all the windows open, the clean cotton candles burning, and the boys are playing outside:) As for me, I will be pretty busy today, got a few candle orders this week so I need to make them up, prep all my food for the week and decide on a menu.

I really want to plant a veggie garden this year...any of you Texans know how what grows well here? It just gets so HOT and we don't have any shade in the backyard. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

I'm back and I am finally at the end of the craziest week since the election! That's not to say work won't still be crazy, it just won't be big events that I'm responsible for.

Debbie - believe it or not this is better, except for the past week. My "new" job configuration is actually much more manageable most days.

Kristen - I just heard one of their songs the other day. I need to get over to youtube and find more. Was it fun?

Mathilda - sounds like the perfect relaxing weekend plan

Karen- I color my own hair. Believe it or not the color holds better than the professional color I had done at the salon. When my hair was longer I had it done professionally every few months but short is pretty easy to keep even

Jasmine- We just got Kindles and I love the convenience. Hope you have enough good reading material for plenty of rehearsal time

Xan - I envy you the green. I'm excited that bits of old, dead, brown leaves are showing around the snow piles

Jess - Gardening is always a popular topic around here :) I can't wait to get mine going.

Okay, off to watch some basketball and relax.

Heidi58
03-19-2011, 10:39 PM
Cyndi, enjoy the basketball. And a good night's sleep - it seems to me you've earned it!

Jess, my daughter lives in Houston and was also puzzled by what to plant. (She was looking for flowers & groundcover, not veggies) Have you seen this site? Texas Gardening (http://www.texasgardeningtips.com/) There are lots of links there too.

Xan, I'm sending good thoughts your way - phase 1 is the hardest part for me, too. I hope you've got a little fun planned for your spring break once you finish your tasks!

Kristen, I grew up in Massachusetts and spend lots of weekends and vacation time there visiting my mom and sisters. They're closer to Fitchburg/Leominster than Boston though.

Jasmine, Tanner sure is ambitious - and talented! I hope you were able to get your walk in.

Karen, that's one handsome young man you've got there! :)

Matilda, how was the roast beef?

Whoa Debbie - your dream sounds more like a nightmare to me! I love having house guests but it could be quite embarrassing if they showed up early at my house! LOL

Ruth, have fun with the Pypers.

Linda, I hope you sleep well tonight.

I had a really great time at the conference today, but found it really cold, even with my jacket on. I don't care for coffee but gagged some down just to warm up. I tried but couldn't drink it without Splenda. I had no problem tearing open the yellow packets though - I was cold enough that I was willing to lose a point in the spring challenge.

Sleep well Chicks.

Technically still saturday, right?

Whew - much company all weekend - and much sports. Trying to be sure I plan meals with all these people around. My best friend and her wife were here all afternoon.evening with their three little ones - now that my girls are 11 and 8, 3 years old looks SO TINY!!!

Missing yesterday's warmth, but I know it is coming back!

Be well -

Good Sunday morning! And it's a much more decent hour, too. :) Today's going to be sunny, but cold, and I don't have any idea what I'm going to do with myself all day today. Jake will be working with my son most of the day, and I'll be left to my own devices. But I'm sure I'll find some way to amuse myself. :)

Good morning. A clear and sunny but chilly day is going to happen. The Pypers, dogs and I watched the moon for a while last night which really was bigger and brighter. They left around 11 and took the leftover pizza with them!

Today? No idea yet but it will involve relaxation. How about you and yours?

Heidi58
03-20-2011, 08:11 AM
:encore: Happy first day of spring! :encore:

We went outside to enjoy the "super moon" last night, too Ruth. It was impressive - but even more impressive was how bright it was when we shut off the lights to go to bed. It's usually pretty dark around here at night, but that big, bright moon reflecting off the snow made us think we'd left the porch light on!

Busy day for me because I didn't do any of my regular Saturday chores yesterday. Church this morning then grocery shopping and home to do laundry, housework and lesson plans for the week. I'll fit some exercise in there somewhere, too.

Enjoy your day friends.

Ruthxxx

Right! It IS the first day of Spring! Time to find a less snowy avatar!

CyndiM
03-20-2011, 08:55 AM
Good morning :coffee2: I woke up at the usual time but actually got back to sleep until the cats decided it was time to feed them - little monsters.

DW took some pictures of the moon last night but I just enjoyed it from inside. Our snow has been reduced to the leftover deep spots and I'm itching for real spring and playing in the dirt. Talked to a friend yesterday who has already started her tomatoes but she has plenty of space and transplants a few times. I think I'll start something growing today!

It will be the usual weekend chores compacted into one day - some cooking, some cleaning, a walk in the sunshine. I'm going to make sure there's plenty of time to just relax too :)

Good Morning:sunny:

I've been up for awhile making progress on the homefront. I'm being very quiet so as not to rouse Kirk until I want him to get up. I let him know last night that I was going to try and get my part of the project accomplished so I could hit the pool at 9 and get 40 min of exercise in before church.

Who knows  when company will arrive. It's his favorite cousin from Alaska and she is capable of just calling us from the pool or from our driveway since she's been here before.

Have a great day everyone!

Rose(TallandThin), thx for posting pics on your BD thread. You are stunning! It's amazing to me (I see it in myself) that we really transform very quickly when we eat so healthy and kick in on the exercise, even when we have more to lose.

Good morning everyone,
Instead of roast beef yesterday, we went to a restaurant by the bay and I had a quesadilla (not so terrible) but had some off plan appetizers. The day was a wash.

Today, we have church in the am, then I'm taking my son for a haircut, then a playdate, then over to friends for a barbeque. Busy! Thank goodness I got all my chores accomplished yesterday, so today is low pressure. Hope everyone has a great one...

Hello hello!

I'm back on plan, again, got derailed last attempt but never say die I say and am determined to get through phase 1 this time.

I'm about to go grocery shopping, have just done the week's meal plan. Life is still super busy with school and we have a new dog (my "surprise" valentine's gift from DH, don't ask!), who has been taking up a lot of our time. She's 12 weeks old now though and quite a bit more independent, I don't have to keep my eye on her 24/7.

Happy first day of spring all :).

Well, after one week I didn't lose any weight, but I did lose 3" off various body parts. That's progress! :carrot::carrot: I have a feeling that's how it's going to be with me though because I went from my usual eating once or twice a day to eating 6 times a day. It's ALL I can do to get this food down each day, but I'll take inches loss!!!! Last time I was on SB I lost a lot of inches and hardly any weight, lol.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Good afternoon ladies (and men if your lurking in the background). Just stopping by to catch up with everyone.

Linda, I am so jealous of your pansies. I have wanted to plant some in a wishing well planter out in my front yard for a couple of weeks now but with all the rain we've been getting, poor things would drown!

Cyndi, girl you seem to be working a lot lately. Find some time for yourself soon. Yesterday I just happened to look out my front window and saw seven (yep, 7) robins on our lawn at the same time. For sure Spring is almost here!

Ruth, my daughter brought her two frenchies over yesterday to have a play day with ours but omg, it was so wet outside and they seemed to be drawn to the mud. Fun but they were sure all a mess.

Debbie, years ago my in-laws were coming for a "first" visit and ended up arriving a day before they were supposed and boy was my house a mess as I was right in the middle of deep cleaning it. I was so embarrased.

Waisting, Congrats on your son's acceptance and scholarship. Good for him.

Jasmine, Good for your son. Sounds like busy times ahead for you two.

Lak, oh a puppy. Love their smell. What breed is she?

OMG did we ever have the wind last night and with a couple of big old oak trees hanging over the house, I didn't get much sleep last night. But things have calmed down a bit today so hopefully this storm is headed east (sorry about that to my east coast beachers).

Well, time marches on and I need to get off here and get in the kitchen to do some planning and start dinner. Later
