We're back and feeling much better. We had a lovely week in Norfolk, walking, talking and seeing old friends with a bit of sailing slotted in as well. We boith feel 10 years younger.
I'm afraid I am going to have to start my ticker all over again. I'm not weighing for a week. All I'll say is that my waist-bands sure are tight.
Looking forward to hearing all the news. Off to start the washing now
03-14-2011, 09:42 AM
OK, I've decided to take the plunge and get a facebook account. I have to keep it very private, so students won't be interested in it, but at least I can talk to my chicks. Can y'all send me a pm here so I can send you a friend request? I guess that's how you do it. Since I am a facebook newbie, I don't know all the specifics, yet.
I was so excited to hear from Nancy! I'm praying that Robin does well when they try to remove his breathing tube today. Can't wait to hear how he does.
Jojo, I'm so glad to hear from you, too. Sounds like your holiday was invigorating and fun. Welcome back!
I've got a busy day, so I'll bbl.
03-14-2011, 03:28 PM
Slept in until 9AM,I guess my body is not used to the time change. Had lots to do,this morning and now I can relax in the afternoon. Than tomorrow I go back to physical therapy. So far so good my hand is not tingling like it used to,so that good news.
Nothing new, thanks for the new pages JOJOWelcome :welcome: back hope you had a good time vacationing.Hope your feeling better, now that your 10 years younger  You'll be back in control once your home, and start losing again.
SLOAN-I HATE  to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't go on Facebook again. Knew so many people that got the identity stolen on that web site.Asked my DD to help me get off of it. I even got emails from people I didn't know so I get another e-mail account. Please be careful when using it.
Have a nice day, have to get my next wash in,see you in the morning
03-14-2011, 04:09 PM
jojo, welcome home. So happy you had a nice trip. Those darn waist bands, lol.
sloanie, sending you a pm when I'm done here.
Maryann, I have my email blocked on facebook. glad the tingling is subsiding.
I'm kinda tired too. Had to get up at 5:30 (still 4:30 a.m to me). I took my sis to get a colonoscopy. Everything was fine.
Nancy, thanks for checking in. I am praying that all goes well when they remove the ventilator.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
03-14-2011, 05:36 PM
Hi there and welcome home, JoJo. It's good to have you back. Sounds like you had a good vacation. Don't worry about your waistband. You'll get it loose again soon.
Sloan and Nancy, I'm on Facebook and am loving it. I am careful about what I post, though. I'm back in touch with folks from Montana, my school past, and also with former students. I love it!
One of the main things I love about it is I get to chat with my granddaughters who are in KY. They have a webcam, so I can even see them.
Maryann, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with FB. Like about everything else, it's not for everyone. I'm glad you're not having the tingling problems as much. That's good news.
Pam, would you PM me your whole name? I'd like to join with you on FB. My bod's still on old time, too. However, I am ready for dinner. What's up with that? Does the clock itself tell me when I'm hungry?
03-14-2011, 05:51 PM
Glad you had a good time jojo
Hope everyone is well xxx
03-15-2011, 09:18 AM
Some are still posting on last weeks thread. Maybe someone can move their posts over here?
Nancy, great news that Robin if off the ventilator. Praying he remains off it.
Vicki, congrats on 2 lb loss. Give yourself credit where credit is due. You lost those pounds!!! You have inspired me to get off my behind.
Drinking my coffee. Will probably dust and vacuum today. Yippee!!
03-15-2011, 10:38 AM
Good morning. I'm already home from the store and am waiting to go meet a gf for lunch/movie. I may need a nap before I leave.
Nancy, that's great news about Robin. Now you two get some rest.
Rhonda, what did you find out at the doctor's?
Vickie, :woohoo: on your 2 lb loss. That's awesome!
Ems, we're well. Curtis is gone fishing with a friend and I'm having a girls' day out. What are you doing today? Are you having spring weather?
 at the rest of you. Have a good day.
03-15-2011, 10:52 AM

03-15-2011, 03:28 PM
I wonder why I didn't even notice that yesterday was Monday!! Oh well.
The doctor said that I have a "calcification" and has sent me to an orthopedist whom I will see next Wednesday. He told me that I could do what I want as long as it doesn't hurt more, and to ice it after exercise.
03-15-2011, 04:03 PM
The sun is out but the temp are down,so I'm going to walk down to the mailbox instead of going down to the beach. I have a PT session this morning than go down to walmart's craft dept to see if I can find a circle that fits on a charm to add to my chain.
Cooking Chicken/Shrimp Jambalaya that I found in the SB quick & easy cookbook. Cooked my rice in the microwave already, and when I get back from PT I will start cooking the dinner.
What a workout on the traction machine,it pull my neck out than slowly back to position. I told the therapist that my hand was hurting while on the machine, but it subsided and the pain is going away. Hope this treatment will straighten out my neck, and I be out of PT soon.
PAM-Thanks,Ok if you feel safe on that web site, that's great,I won't go there again.
SANDRA-Thanks,Glad they you can contract family and old friend. I thought it was cool seeing and hearing from all my DH's nieces and nephews and old friends but some how some stranger got a hold of my account and messed things up. Never went back.
Have a great afternoon
03-15-2011, 04:26 PM
Hi everyone. I feel like I've been having fits and starts with getting back to plan. I did well for about a month then haven't tracked anything in over 2 weeks. But I've recommitted today. I updated WW online with my weight and I hit the gym today. I've been keeping that up. I'm still around the same weight, so I guess thats good. But I really want to get the scale moving down. I've been snacking terribly at night again -- cookies, brownies, ice cream. Nothing really healthy, but I have been eating close to core during the day.
So, today I shopped for healthy stuff. No snacks. I did make a bean dip and cut up a bunch of veggies. I also have light flat out bread that I'll attempt to make into pita type chips tonight. I also made a big pot of veggie/lentil/barley soup. Tonights dinner is chicken breasts with whole wheat breading baked, whole wheat pasta and core sauce. I have a big salad already done and pea pods. One of my favorites as well asDD and DH.
Nancy, I hope that Robin is improving. I've been keeping up with the boards and have him in my prayers.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Now that I've recommitted you should see me more. Some how when I am not really following a plan, I feel odd posting. But I'm back....for now :)
03-15-2011, 04:27 PM
OK, I guess I've made it offical. My ticker is now up to date.
03-15-2011, 05:26 PM
Paula, you gave me inspiration. I just did a killer 2m workout.
03-15-2011, 06:18 PM
I just did a killer workout at Pizza Hut Buffet. And that's all I have to say about that. I am now recommitting.
Rhonda, I am glad you will get to keep on exercising. I know how important exercising is to you. Are you taking any meds for your aches?
Paula, congrats to you for maintaining during your little hiatus. That is amazing! You sound determined. I am happy for you.
Maryann, how did your dinner turnout? It sounds good.
03-15-2011, 06:26 PM
Sandra, no I'm taking anything other than some Ibuphrofen at night.
I've noticed that if I bend my knees with my hands on the knee cap, I can feel them creaking. I'll talk this all over with the doctor. I do not want to get arthritic. It's funny the information tells you to strengthen your quads but don't stress your knees. I don't know of any way to do that!
Maryann, I'm glad to hear that your neck feels better. Traction is very helpful at times.
Paula, welcome back to our little corner of the world. I know that temptation to eat sweets at night. I really want them too, but have good at not eating them. When I have to have ice cream I buy GOOD ice cream in small, individual size containers, and stop at one. I still want another one though!!
03-15-2011, 09:20 PM
Rhonda, the physical therapist that I worked with when I taught a Rehabilitative Therapy class told me that any exercise where the feet were "planted" while pressing or squatting was safe for the knees. He said the problem was when you lift weight with your feet and use your knees as the fulcrum. This is very hard on the knees. Hope that makes sense.
Hey to the rest of you chickies!
03-15-2011, 09:21 PM
Just a quick note to say that Robin is off the ventilator..Yesterday was
borderline for having to redo it but he has improved today so I think that
threat is past. he had a milkshake & hamburger today after the Speech Therapist cleared him. That was weird because that is my field and I knew
his swallow was fine but we had to wait all day for her to come say it was.
His weakness is extreme but a tiny bit better each day. He cannot roll in bed or even shift his weight yet.
Last night I was sleeping soundly in the SICU waiting room on a comfortable couch and the hospital security guy woke me up in the middle of the night and told me I needed to be in the regular ICU waiting room (the noisy one with uncomfortable recliners). Then he stood over me while I gathered my bags..I was in an awful mood and asked "do you REALLY need to escort me out" & he said he had his orders..I did get sassy and say that he better have his Taser ready because I could be a real handful ..Good Grief!!
03-16-2011, 03:09 AM
This is Mr JoJO writing
Val is down with flu and cannot get out of bed without falling over. She wanted you to know that she hadn't fallen out with you, or left the forum. She was poorly coming home but you know Val, never gives in. At the moment she is a very good patient but I'm dreading when she gets a bit better because she is normally a DREADFUL patient. Wanting to get up too early.
03-16-2011, 06:23 AM
aww poor jojo tell her i hope she is better soon mr jojo xxxx
03-16-2011, 09:47 AM
Good Morning Chicks! I'm behind on posting but have been reading all posts quickly. I've got errands and doctors and all kinds of stuff all week, this week so time is short.
Nancy, GREAT news for you and Robin! You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Rhonda, my Sister is arthritic and her arthritis doctor told her creaking is not necessarily bad news; pain of course IS bad news. Hope you feel better soon.
Paula, I'm the same way. I feel like a hypocrite to be here when I'm not on plan but ironically, that's the time I need to be here most. I'm following WW points plus religiously right now. So far, so good.
JoJo....aren't you TOO sweet to get your husband on here so we wouldn't worry that you left us. I'm sorry you have the flu. I head it is vicious this year. Get well soon.
I love the rest of you tons and tons. I'll be back when I can.
03-16-2011, 11:22 AM
Happy Wednesday everyone. I did well yesterday - but I just remembered I didn't log in everything. That will be my next stop. I made a bean dip yesterday and had that with a toasted light flat out bread. It was very yummy and filling. So far so good.
Nancy, glad Robin is improving. Sorry to hear you were booted off the comfy couch (not sure if any waiting room couch could be considered comfy!). Hope today continues to be improvements.
Jojo, hope you are feeling better soon!
Sandra - love the new workout :)
Vickie, are you still following JC or back to WW?
03-16-2011, 11:28 AM
Good Morning Ladies:)
Looks like its gong to rain so I won't be walking today. Going to clean out the upstairs closet and bedroom drawers today as my DD told me that she's going to bring me home and stay with me for the whole Easter vacation week .The grand kids are off from school for 10 day and that was her plan. Of course I said yes. Now that's shes on the beta blockers she back to her bubbly self again.
Otherwise nothing else is new. I have to look for new venetian blinds for my room but I don't know how to measure or to install them. It looks like the department stores don't do that service anymore.
PAULA=Glad to see you posting again, and congrats for your gun ho attitude on weight loss.
SANDRA-Thanks,This was he first time I made Jambalaya I added Okra to mine and boy was it tasty. I have left overs for next week.
RHONDA-That traction machine was not bad except that the hand got worse when on it. The therapist took me off and than yesterday afternoon the tingling stopped but it back again this morning.Hope it subsides soon.
NANCY-TG that Robin is off the ventilator and eating that will pull up this strength, but I surprise how mean that security guard was to you. Having such a sick hubby and he treating your that way. Maybe the nurses know where you can sleep that's more comfortable.
MR JOJO-Hope that Val is ok, the flu can take a lot out of you. Please tell her that I'm praying for her to get well:getwell: again. She has to drink lots fluid so she doesn't get dehydrated.
VICKIE-Have a great day
Have to go and start my dinner. Have a nice one
03-16-2011, 01:12 PM
Thank you for letting us know. We all send her hugs (with face masks on and washing our hands, of course).
Nancy, let's hear it for being sassy. We'll meet your bail, I'm sure!
Sloan and Vickie, thanks for the information about knees. I was doing an exercise with Todd that did require using the knees as a fulcrum but the new trainer said :nono: so I don't do it anymore.
I am leaving for my trip this afternoon. I'll likely be back from time to time because I'm taking my laptop.
03-16-2011, 02:15 PM
Nancy, good to hear Robin is doing well and starting to eat. Shame on that security guard.
Mr jojo, take good care of our girl and hope she feels better real soon. Thanks for letting us know.
Maryann, I've never made jambalaya, but I love it. Is your daughter coming to your home, or you going to hers? I'm pretty good at hanging blinds, too bad I'm not closer to you.
Rhonda, have a great trip. Hope your knees gets better and you don't have to deal with arthritis. I sometimes get a pain in my right knee behind the kneecap.
Hi Vicki and Paula. You both sound like you are on track.
03-16-2011, 05:17 PM
Mr. JoJo, thank you for updating us on Mrs. JoJo. I hope she's feeling better and also that you don't catch what she has.
Robin, you rebel you. I don't blame you one bit for being upset with the security man. I would have been, too. In fact, I am upset with him.
Paula, I enjoyed that workout yesterday, too. Now that's one exercise routine I will definitely not repeat for a long long time.
 Rhonda. Have fun!
I'm back on track today. Life is good!!
03-17-2011, 09:43 AM

03-17-2011, 12:48 PM
Gorgeous day! Just walked at lunch for a 1/2 hour. I've been successfully tracking since Tuesday!
Have a good day!
03-17-2011, 01:48 PM
Happy St. Patty's Day. We went to lunch at a local restaurant and had corned beef, etc.
I thought I had gained 2 lbs, but the scale was my friend and I'm back to my last WI. If I would quit being so doggone lazy and exercise, I could get this scale moving again.
Maryann, sounds like a busy day planned for you. Have fun.
Sandra, glad you are back on track. Those Pizza Hut workouts are a killer, lol.
Paula, I'm really watching, but still not actually tracking.
03-17-2011, 02:35 PM
Just squeezed in a 22 minute walk with Brodie before my shower. We both had fun. Now errands and stuff!
03-17-2011, 04:46 PM
hey girls i lost 3lbs tonight im so happy thats 16lbs lost since i started back at ww only 15lbs more until i meet my birthday goal which is the end of july :D
03-17-2011, 06:36 PM
Ems, congrats on losing those 3 lbs. You're on your way to your birthday goal for sure.
Happy St. Patty's Day, everyone! I am wearing green but had meatloaf for lunch. I did have green beans and an Irish potato, though. Do they count?
Pam, are you and I the only chickies not exercising? We need to do something, don't we? Congrats on keeping the scales low. I'm happy for you.
Vickie, a walk with Brodie sounds like fun. I know you both enjoyed it.
Paula, good for you for tracking. I'm doing the same. I feel better already and bet you do, too.
JoJo, are you feeling better?
Nancy, what about Robin? Is he stronger now?
Maryann, I know you enjoyed your corned beef and cabbage. Makes me smile. We've never followed that custom but know a lot of folks who do.
We have the car washed and the oil changed. Our excitement is building!!
03-18-2011, 12:07 AM
Robin is making good progress but it will be a while until he is out of ICU.
He is working with PT on sitting on the side of the bed with help.
Its hard to believe that I keep saying how great he is doing but that
it may be next week before he can even sit up by himself or get out of bed
with a walker..That is how bad things were.
But I am thrilled to just be able to watch TV with my sweetie at night or share a laugh. I used to complain that we watched too much TV but I have missed just watching a game show with him & the news. We don't sit & watch the news ..we commentate on every story with our opinion..LOL
03-18-2011, 02:43 PM
Just wanted you to know that I fell in the library's parking lot this morning and I hurt my both knees and hands. Had the fire dept & ambulance come out as I thought I wouldn't be able to walk, but it tuned out ok as I was stunned. They asked me if I wanted to call some one,but I told them my family was in NY. Than low & behold my next door neighbor saw me on the ground and told me that she would be home in the afternoon and will look in on me. I went to my 11AM PT session and told them what happened and they put a machine on my bad knee and had them put heat on my neck/shoulder area. This was going to be my last session but John told me to come back for 2 more sessions.I have to put ice on the knee for 20 Mins 3 x's a day as its swollen.
PAM-Glad the scale was your friend and you did well at your W-I Yes I did have a busy day yesterday but being busy keeps me out of trouble.
PAULA & VICKIE-Both of you are looking good with your walking route,I'm afraid that my walking is going to be put on hold now that I hurt my knee again.
EMS-Congrats on your 3 lbs weight loss.
SANDRA-Of course the Irish Potatoes count. I cheated by buying a deli corned beef and cooking it for 10 mins just to heat it up. Than I added cooked potatoes and cabbage in the pot. Have leftovers for next week.
NANCY-Glad that hes making progress,it must be so hard on you,see ing him that way,but things will get better,as time goes by.
Have to go,and get my foot up on the lounge chair and get some ice on my bad knee.
Have a good one
03-18-2011, 03:47 PM
Maryann, oh my. Glad you neighbor can look in on you. I feel so bad for you, as I know you really want to get back into your walking routine. Hopefully, it's nothing serious and a few days rest will do the trick.
ems, a big :bravo: to you on your 3 lbs. The 2 of us sound pretty much on the same schedule. I've lost 15 and have another 15 to go. So happy you saw a good loss this week, as I know you are working hard.
Nancy, it's such a slow process. Hope he gets out of ICU so you can spend more time with him. You have to be exhausted. Take care of Nancy.
Sandra, yes, looks like it's you and me babe, lol. We really need to get serious. I have good intentions, just never follow through with them.
03-18-2011, 06:07 PM
Maryann, I am so glad you weren't hurt badly. That's good your neighbor will be there to help. Also good you have PT.
Pam, What can I say?
03-18-2011, 11:11 PM
So sorry to hear about your fall, Maryann, but glad you had help.
Nancy, glad to hear that progress is being made, even if slowly. It's always good to appreciate the small things.
I certainly ate way over any calorie limit today, but what the heck! Today we saw so many wonderful Anasazi sites....just amazing what the National Park Service has preserved for us to enjoy. Tomorrow, we go to Telluride for a look around.
I need the gym!
03-19-2011, 09:27 AM
Hi ladies. Happy Saturday. Spring is finally here as my allergies are killing me. I need to get back to taking claritin daily. For me it makes such a difference. Can't get to the gym this morning, dd has a fiend here until 10:30 or so, and the child care ends at 11:30. (DH is working today). Just isn't enough time to get to the gym and get a decent work out in. So, I'm going to take DD to the state park here in town and walk for an hour or so. I may pack a lunch as well -- its a bit cool here, upper 40s but good walking weather.
Nancy, glad Robin is improving. Sometimes baby steps are leaps forward.
Maryann, hope you are OK today. Scary falling like that, your lucky you didn't get hurt any more than you did. Last year my mom fell going to Easter Mass in the church parking lot - she fractured her pelvis. Take it easy today.
Well, off to get 2 girls dressed and moving. They are having quality BFF time and would prefer no adults around. They're good kids.
03-19-2011, 12:03 PM
Good Morning Ladies:)
Didn't sleep last night as my body was hurting all over, especially when you when you lay in one position stiffness comes in to play. Its 10 AM and I just got up one hour ago. I'm going to stay indoors today as I'm sore on my right knee than the bad knee .I guess when I feel I went down on the right knee first. My lower back is hurting also,so I'm going to put my back brace on. I guess its going to be a weekend of REST.
Got on the scale is morning and I maintained so I'm happy I didn't gain.
PAM-After I fell all I was thing about was that my meniscus tore again n I would need more surgery. TG it didn't happen, even if today I very sore. Going to do what the therapist told me,and take it easy today.
SANDRA-Thanks we have very nice caring people up here on the Cape and I'm lucky that i live up here. I'm sore but i will take it easy and do some exercisers that the PT gave me to do. all stretches that you do on the bed or sofa.
RHONDA-Thanks I have to be more careful where I walk. I fortunately that I didn't break anything.
PAULA-Thanks,my sister told me that we have to watch more than ever when we hit a certain age. Have to remember I can't walk as fast as I did at one time. Sorry to hear about your mom, breaking her pelvis my mom fractured hers just falling in her house.
Have a nice day, going to start my dinner, its a easy meal just heat up in the skillet.
03-19-2011, 12:27 PM
Rhonda, I know you and Doyle are having a grand time. Enjoy every minute. This is such a glorious time of year. Life is good.
Paula, enjoy your day at the park with dd. Walking together and picnicking sound like such fun.
Maryann, I am sorry you're stove up this weekend. I'm just glad you didn't break any bones. Take care and don't overdo with the stretches.
I got up for an 8 am appointment for pedi/mani because we were going to an archery tournament in Fort Worth right after lunch. For some reason I called the archery center on my way home from the spa. The tournament was last weekend. Guess I'm getting senile. We're home and will prob work in the yard. (And we're going to do some shooting here, too.)
03-19-2011, 06:56 PM
Maryann, sorry you are hurting. Hopefully it will be gone in a few days. If it's any consolation, I was barefoot and walked into the coffee table and my 2nd and 3rd toes feel like they are broken. I know they aren't but they are bruised and they are starting to hurt really bad. I did it this morning, but it really didn't start hurting until recently.
Sandra, you got a pedi/mani then went to do yard work? I hate when I have those senior moments.
Rhonda, enjoy and worry about the diet when you get home.
03-19-2011, 10:14 PM
 Pam, I didn't even do yardwork. Curtis did, but I passed. I've just been doing household chores with my sparkly toes.
03-20-2011, 12:15 AM
Robin is out of ICU :carrot:
03-20-2011, 12:22 AM
I have got to figure out someway to trim some pounds off..
The stress makes me think I deserve to eat whatever I want..
Maybe if I ate eggs for breakfast and a protein shake at lunch that would help.
03-20-2011, 08:38 AM
YEAH ROBIN! Great news Nancy!
03-20-2011, 10:40 AM
Robin, that's wonderful news about Robin. As to you, do what you need to do right now. If that includes eggs and protein shakes, the use them. Just keep yourself strong emotionally, mentally and physically. That's a priority so you can help Robin and yourself.
03-20-2011, 04:09 PM
Good Morning Chicks! I've spent the whole day entering my Core recipes into the WW recipe builder. I'm doing WAY smaller portions than what I used to eat on Core and they are STILL way higher than the JC meals points. Can I just say that with what I was eating on Core, in terms of portions, makes me wonder how on earth I ever lost the weight!
I just started with a few of our favorites just to get us started. I'm truly sick of being on the computer for today.
I have the Gynie tomorrow and my mammogram on Tuesday. Yucko.
Nancy, I'm SOOOOO happy for you and Robin.
Ems, HUGE Congratulations for losing 3 whole pounds in one week. OUTSTANDING!
Mary Ann, I hope you are feeling better.
Love and light to everyone else.
03-20-2011, 04:28 PM
Vickie, are you going to be doing old CORE or new Simply Filling? I'm thinking (again!) of doing one of them after Indoor Nationals.
03-20-2011, 06:56 PM
Hey chicks. Just got back from Carrabbas. I know, not points friendly. It's my favorite restaurant and we've been here in Florida since Oct and this is the first time we've gone there. A girl has to splurge every now and then.
Sandra, I love SFT much better than Core. Maybe because breads are included and they weren't on the old Core.
Nancy, so happy to hear Robin is out of ICU.
Vicki, yes, portion control. The only thing I eat too much of is veggies. I fill half my plate with them, but then again, I think that is what we are suppose to do, lol.
My husband is going back to KY in the morning and I'm going to stick around in Florida until the middle of April. Then I'll join him. We will stay in KY all summer.
03-20-2011, 07:32 PM
I'm back in Albuquerque, back to Texas in the morning.
Sandra, DH isn't with me; he's home with the doggie. This isn't his kind of trip.
Nancy, great news about Robin.
03-21-2011, 09:13 AM
Thanks everyone for your support hopefully i can get the next 15lbs off hehe
Pam you can get the 15lbs off with me aswell hehe
Hope your all well and hope you have a good week xxx
