Default Mid-afternoon snack help

Hey guys I am still kinda floundering when it comes to which "plan" I should stick to, but I think I have finally found a mish-mash that works for me. I do have a concern about my mid-afternoon snack though - DH and I go to the gym after work (around 6:15) so we don't get to have dinner until about 8 or so. For the past week I've just had a protein shake around 4 to tide me over until then. We are eating a good amount of protein as it is (soy protein Boca burgers for lunches, sliced turkey breast on wheat bread for breakfasts, etc) so I am just wondering whether the protein shake is a good or bad idea. My weightloss has slowed down a fair bit this week so I'm trying to figure out if it's coincidence or my body putting the stops on the shake. We have it with soy and whey protein - would it be a better idea to have something like fruit or cheese instead? I just hate eating before workout out because it makes me feel so awfully sluggish.

TIA for your help!
