Dieting with Obstacles - Fibromyalgia #196

Hi. Time for a new thread.
Candice - did you go get the chest pain checked out? If it's in the sternum or the ribs, it is probably FM. If it's on the left side perhaps a trip to the Dr. would be in order. Hope you are feeling much better.
Joanne - Gas sure can feel like heart problems. Even some of the meds I take for Atrial Fibrillation, cause excess gas buildup and causes pain. Some days a person just can't win! Sugar free anything sure isn't handled well by this old body. Same as MSG and it is in almost everything. It can cause my heart to go into AF, so I really stay clear of Chinese Food, even if they leave out the MSG.
Mima - what a sweetheart that little one is. Are they still there, or did they get back home. I'll bet you so enjoyed having them visit.
Went to the Dr. about my heart being all aflutter (yes, Candice, could have been hubby lol). Anyway he upped the doseage of the Beta Blocker. Don't like that, as that pill causes the blood sugar to do weird things and then I am forever hungry. I am soooo trying NOT to eat anything extra, but it sure is hard when the sugar cravings start. Also, very tired. Waiting to get an appointment set up with the Cardiologist.
Everybody have a good day/
Good morning-it's been so busy since Suzanne came on Sat. Lily seems to have a cold and I have one also or it;s the superhigh pollen. But she is a good baby and almost walking,
I get that acid and it causes pain but it immediately goes away with maalox.
Everyone is coming for dinner tonight. We will have Mike's bd cake even though it isn;t til 3/15/
Have a PT appt at 8 am. and then WW.
Bye for now-Mima

I think I told you girls about the yellow crowned night herons in my yard last year. I took Christie for a early walk yesterday and something made me look up at the old nest. There sat one of the birds. I wondered if they would come back. Now I wonder if the babies from last year will come here.
I am trying to stay on tract with my eating. Not so easy when I think Of food most of the time..I just try to stay busy..I eat fat free foods often. With high colesterol.(sp) diabetic, and arthritis as well as a heart problem. I just think I should. Some of it is tasteless. I guess it is mind over matter.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Happy thanks for the new thread:) My pain was on the left side but think it was my broccoli soup and left arm trigger pts.....I agravated carring the big pots form the porch down to the basement while trying to avoid tripping on the dog! I hate those days when I am hungry all the time...nothing seems to take the hunger pains away.
Joanne...there are some pretty good tasting low fat, low sugar, things out there I think. Ya just have to be picky..it takes me a long time to grocery shop to find what I want after reading all the lables. Everything in moderation they say.
Mima..hope your cold is better, gald you enjoyed Lilly.
Got the chest freezer defrosted and cleaned along with the corner of the garage it is in. All the outside x-mas decor boxed and put up out there too. The snow is finally melting:)

I wish I could say that my shoulders are better. I don't like going to Dr's. so I am trying to hold out untill the 14th of this month.. I am not sure how much the injections harm or help the tissue. I know that sometimes they don't help at all.
My brother will be here tomorrow from Az. for two weeks. He will stay one week with one of my sisters and me for a week.
I hope everyone has a great week..
Joanne
Wow it was busy last week, We ended up taking Lily to the doctor-her ears were infected, I was also so sick with asrhma-doc said it was pollen. Today is the first day I feel better, I have singulair and advair and allegra, and mucunex.Haven;t felt like eating. Yikes.
We are leaving first week in April-I was going to fly home with points but the airfare doubled. So I don't have enough points. Oh well. I am ready.
My back made my hip hurt badly from picking up Lily-PT today.
Bye for now Mima

Today I am a year younger.. Not really but it doesn't hurt to think so..
We have to go get another sticker for my car tag as my hubby misplaced or lost the one I had. We looked for over 5 hours yesterday and could not find it.. I was not a happy camper.. I told him from now on I would be in charge of anything important..
My brother will be here for a week . I will have a few extra things to do..
My son and his wife will have us for dinner Sat. With their busy life I told them not to but they insist.
We got some rain last night. It is supposed to turn cooler..
Have a great day everybody.

Happy Birthday Joanne:)
Happy Birthday Joanne-enjoy your week with your brother. I am still wheezing and hurting. So far Silverscript has rejected the appeal for them to cover the pain patches. If they won;t I will have to get another shot. I can;t go on like this -it hurts to walk.
Cooler but gorgeous. Getting a lot of money back on taxes for the first time. That will replace lots of money that we have
had to take out of the bank/
Lily is walking-I am waiting for a picture.
Bte for now PT this am. Mima
Well, someone has to do it-post, I have a UTI and doc changed my med yesterday to tetracycline-called Auntie and she is going through almost the same thing, Getting another shot today-I am in a lot of pain in my leg, When I get gome I will see an orthopedic guy,
We went to a hymn sing last night-it was so nice, Going up to Holy Land Experience in Orlando next week and leaving on the 5th, to go home.
Bet you are having a nice time with your brother Joanne, Hi all. Mima

It was really nice having my brother here. Of course there are two other sisters here in Tarpon. He had to spread himself around a bit.
Had both shoulders injected. It helped one shoulder but the other still hurts some.Tylenol is all I can take. So I am keeping them in business. The Dr gave me a scrip for pain pills . I don't like to take them.
The weather here has been good ,but, as always I am complaining about the lack of rain. It is really dry here.
UTI's are not the best thing. I have had them and due to the coumadin I bleed a lot. Very scary for me.
Hope all of you are well.
Have a good week..Joanne

Mima - hope you are feeling better. Won't be long, I guess, and you will be back home.
Joanne - glad you enjoyed the visit with your brother. Also, glad you got the shots and that the pain has lessened. I don't like to take painkillers either, but sometimes, taking them just for a couple of days is enough, to turn it around. Just try taking them once a day and see how it feels. I usually take them at night. At times one night is enough, other times, I have to take them for 3 night running.
Candice - where are YOU hiding. Hope you are feeling better.
Spring has arrived in most places, but here, you would think it was the dead of winter. We have had snow since Sat. night, and they say it will continue until Tues or Weds. It is that wet, sloggy kind of snow, so everything turns to slush. Sure don't like that! It's SPRING snow, I guess.
Take care and hope all are well. Meme, come talk to us.
We probably will see sn0w-at least in the back yard where it isn't sunny/
They opened a whole foods store here-at least I can get all my stuff in the same place,
Glad one shoulder is better-I got a shot in my hip and can finally walk with no pain. Will see an orthopedic doc when I get hone.
We are leaving the 5th and stopping in Whiper Mtn where we had gone to work and then Charlotte. Lily will have her bd on the 10th, She is walking now.
I had to stop taking the teracycline because it made me so sick.
We went up to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando-very nice.
Going to try to post a pic. Mima
Hey guys!!! Post!! Glad I am over uti doc said. That med made me so sick.
We had an indoor picnic for my WW group. Fun-we had a gift swap and that was fun too,
Packing up-one more week and it's HOT. Mima

I was wondering where everybody was..
We have got some good rain today and it is still coming down. It should be fun taking Christie out in about a hour.
I told you all that I saw the Yellow crowned night herons back. Now I see that there is two pairs in the tree. They can be messy. I will have to clean the sidewalks often.. They built their nests right over the sidewalk.
At last I have some relief from the shoulder pain. Hurts some but nothing like it was.
Mima- Nice to here your UTI is better..
Have a good week everybody..
Joanne
Happy about the rain also/ Finally I am not in pain-it made me so depressed. Need to walk but way too hot at night so I will try for this am. Leaving Tues/ Mima
Lily turnes one yesterday!!!

Hello! I've been missing in action since the beginning of January when I started my chemo treatments. I have 7 treatments done, 5 more to go. I have thought of all of you so often!!! After a treatment, I have little to no energy, and I hate that. Changed my tracker to show the weight loss since I began chemo. Dr. isn't happy with the loss, but I know that I had quite a bit of extra! Put total at 40, so I hope I can make that sometime.
I skimmed through all of the posts! Glad to see you all!! Love you!!
Oh Tammy how awful to go through that, hope you have a good summer after all tht. Leaving Tues if weather cooperates. Love to all. Mima

Mima, looking forward to a great summer. I am going to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria with my brother and his family. We leave June 29.
Joanne, I was surprised there weren't more messages here since I posted the other day. I'm sure your heat will be hitting you soon!!

Hi Tammy, glad you resurfaced:smug: Hope you will soon be done with the treatments. You were missed.
Mima - hope you had a safe trip home. Already a year old, now that is hard to believe. These kids grew so fast. My oldest gd just turned 13 on Sunday, and our baby will be 5 on the 21 May.
Joanne - Glad the shoulders feel better. Now, you can get on with enjoying the warmer weather.
It is still cool here, and we still have snow. Another week or so, and it should be gone. This was the worst winter in a whole lot of years. Lot's of snow and very cold. Oh well, as they say "what doesn't kill you, makes you strong" lol
Have been sick with some type of virus for the past 2 weeks. Also, ended up in the ER with this darn Afib. Went for a stress test on Wednesday, and the good news is that I do NOT have any cardiovascular disease - just a wiring problem with the elecdtrical.
Now where is Meme, Candice and Kate??? Come on gals, and let us know how you are doing.
Came home Sunday night after the party which was great! We went to Hershey, Penn Dutch and Northlands. Got to experience a miracle-a woman slammed on her brakes on the freeway, spun out and landed in front of us head on in the breakdown lane and no one was hurt and no damage occurred. God is good. Now if I could only find my camera.
Today suzanne is 33. Going to doc's for my shot.
I am so glad you are going on a nice trip Tammy . Great way to celebrate your recovery.
No snow here. I don;t miss the heat in FL but it is very dreary here. Lotes of stuff to unpack . Posting pics of Lily.
Miss you guys! We are settling in and have Easter here. Lily is sick again. I wondered if they chamged her to whole milk because my som used to get sick from that. Happy Easter!!!!

Hello Everybody... The heat is here to stay ,I guess. It seems like everyday is the same here. As always we need rain.
I will be busy till after Easter.. I am having just the children here for Easter. My daughter will be here to help with most of the work. I plan to keep it small and easy.
I hope EVERYONE HAS A HAPPY EASTER.
Joanne
That sounds nice, we are only 7 plus Lily, although Suzanne got sick yesterday. Who else will???? Happy Easter. all. Mima

We had a nice Easter, although ,our son ended up having surgery and couldn't be with us. He has had a problem with kidney stones for years . One got stuck this time . His Dr. said his kidney was loaded with stones. They did some laser. We took food out to him and his wife. Our daughter was here till Easter afternoon.
And then I was sick for the next few days. A nasty virus. Hubby got it but it didn't hit him as bad as it did me. Our kids drove me crazy. They wanted me to go to Hospital. I didn't and soon was getting back to normal.
It is so sad to watch T.V. and see what the storms have done across several states..
Joanne
I lost my post yesterday-Lily had that stomache bug and gave it to everyone she came in contact with, Then she came down with 2 ear infections. She;s ok now. Hope to see them on Mother's day. I am getting a back brace on Thurs to wear when I need it but not all the time.
How are you doing Tammy? Hope you are through with chemo soon.
Doc's today for my shot. It;s finally spring here but nasty rain tomorrow, Mima

Hello, hope you are all ok. I read the two pages of this thread trying to catch up a little.
Tammy ... I'm praying for you girlfriend and hoping you will be feeling great this summer while traveling so you can have a really good time!
Joanne, my hubby is looking at retiring at the end of this year so I guess I'll be experiencing some of what you are. LOL We can console each other come 2012. ha I'm not really looking forward to him being home all the time!
Anne, hope you're over the virus. I have a lot of problems with my 'wiring', too. My heart skips and goes crazy on me all the time. I can't help thinking, "I'm coming Elizabeth" every time it does that. Scarry stuff. I'm on Inderal ... what kind of Beta Blocker are you on?
Mima, still busy, busy as always. Good to know you are well and still going.
If I've missed anyone, forgive me. I've been talking to Candice some on FB. As for me, I hurt my back sitting the wrong way at a play and have been going to the Chiropractor. I'm a lot better with that now but I also fell (again) and messed up the other shoulder so I've been in a battle with pain but what else is new. I think we all battle that every day, don't we. I'll try to check back in sooner. Hope you all have a great wekend. Still think about you often and love you all.

It took me several months to figure out what to do about my chronic fatigue. The highlights are:
Fluoride sits in your pineal gland, slowing down melatonin production. If you stop sleeping, you'll never recover.
I avoided fluoride like the plague for a full month-no toothpaste, distilled water for bathing and hair washing, and found a bottled water with 7.0 ph. Its in alberta canada, called monashee. Before I found it, I was drinking 6.4 ph distilled, RO, ect and I wasn't getting better. (soon we won't have fluoride added to our tap water, so I'll save some money).Btw, I was developing fibro. After I stopped fluoride, and raised my ph, it disappeared!
Then I slowly went on the raw food diet. First couple weeks I was 60-80%, eating fish and eggs for protein. Then as I got to 95-98% my PH went up to 6.6. (my lowest was 4.5 yikes! That was when I was just diagnosed. When my PH got to 6.2, that flu feeling went away.) After 6 weeks, I may be able to be 99% because my taste for junk has changed. It tastes too salty or too sweet.
And lastly is sleep hygiene. At 8 oclock, all our lights are turned off, only candles and sometimes the computer screen. By 9 oclock, you start producing melatonin. By 9:30, be in bed. From 10-12 oclock, your liver does magnificent work. If you aren't sleeping at that time, it doesn't happen. When I don't get to bed in time, or sleep in the next day, my ph drops! Sometimesd as low as 6. Sleep is everything for recovery. And be up by 7. EVERY morning. (eventually, you will sleep at 10, and 9 hours in bed is plenty!) Even if you don't sleep. Eventually, you will be so exhausted by 6, you will need to get ready for bed. |If you have any questions, please ask. I wish someone could have told me all this, instead of experimenting over and over. Also feel free to look at my blog about my experience. You will recover after you understand what to look for!
Thanks for all that info. I do get a good night; sleep. [I] got my brace just in time because I drove to CT the next day as Suzanne was really sick. I used the brace to pick up Lily and my back didn;t go into any spasms.
Too busy is what it is, Friday the campground opens and we are going to try to sell the camper asap. It;s on Craig;s list so you have to screen for the scammerrs.
We bought 2 new recliners with a button on the side to make them go up and down.
Brad hasn;t had much work so he is mostly here. Putting floors down downstairs. Etc-I swear he has add becuase he goes from one project to the next,
Please get better quick, Tammy, And hi to all-thanks for the update Meme!!!!Mima

I went to the chiropracter again yesterday -makes 3 visits. I'm not sure it's doing any good but I'll go a couple of more times and see.
Mima, you were taking about doing too much, I started a "Women's Book Club" Monday evening at my house. Some women getting together to discuss a book. We're reading "Big Girl's Don't Whine" by Jan Silvious right now. It was a very interesting discussion, I think I'm going to enjoy that. I made a spaghetti cassarole & salad. I don't do anything else right now so I said that could be my 'thing' for awhile. We only meet once a month so shouldn't be too much for me. We need a little something to keep us up and going but we have to be careful not to get too much. I did that for a long time. This year I'm cooking BD dinners for all the kids and g-kids, too. I told them I'd make whatever they wanted (within reason). We have a BD every month except Sept, Nov & Dec & we have Thanksgiving & Christmas in Nov & Dec so that will keep me busy, too. I don't really need anything else now. I have enough.
The thread is quieter than I remembered it being.
Sounds like a fun bookclub. We are going to have a Women's Bible study on mon night starting in July. looking forward to that-love women get togethers.
Went to the last bd party for stepgrandchildren yesterday-3 in one month, Keith turned 5 and he was so happy!! He got lots of monster trucks-threw all the clothes aside.
Suzanne and Lily are finally better. She has to go to the ENT, she has had so many ear infections, They are giving her a hearing test.
Lots of rain here but we don.t live near the Mississippi so I won't complain.
Hope everyone is well. Hi to all Mima

I haven't been posting although I have been looking and reading.
I went to the dentist as I am having a problem with a tooth implant that I had done over 25 years ago. To make this short I am seeing a oral surgeon tomorrow. I am not looking forward to it.
My weight is not going down as I would like it. My fault. I get upset and then I want to eat.. Like now..
I hope everyone is doing well.
Joanne
I have not been good either -and I need to fit into a new outfit in less than a month, Hope you do ok at the dentist. Brad is going to have 12 teeth out and get an upper denture but dentist wants him to wait til he heals to get the denture, We are not looking forward to that. Hey-it rains EVERY day here. But it's supposed to get better, Mima

My dental problem has turned in a bigger deal. We are waiting for a ok from primary dr. because I am on coumadin . So all I can do is wait. That is until Monday when I will on the phone trying to get a answer.
Strange as it is my weight has gone down. Maybe because I have to eat soft foods that limit me.
I am stressing over one tooth and a implant that has to come out. I don't know what I would do to have twelve removed.
The weather down here has been nice . No rain in my area. I am sure it is going to get hot soon.
I hope everyone has a good weekend..

Hello Everybody..It is a hot day here in my part of Fl. No rain.
The implant was much over 25+ years old. Somehow it got loose. I went to a dental surgeon and they could not do anything without Primary Dr. OK. He said it was too risky for me to do anything, because of my heart problems. So I canceled it. The other night the problem resolved it self. It just broke off and thank god I wasn't asleep. There is no pain. The implant was attached to a next tooth forming a bridge. So it broke too at the gum line. They wanted 310$ to take that out. I decided as long as it isn't giving me and problem I am going to leave well enough alone.
We will spend a quiet weekend.. I have been on antibiotics and don't feel so good. Had another bad uti.
I feel so sad for all those families in the tornado area..
I hope everyone has a nice Holiday.
Joanne
Candice-go to the doctor!!!! We had a night of storms here-lots of ge in 19 places, especially Springfield. I was in Northhampton which is right above there-at the hotel because I worked 3 days, Very scary, Can't imagine going through that every day, Now it;s cooled off-too cool to go to the campground. Really hope to sell.
Lily bit someone in daycare. 14 months old!! It's funny but she can't do that. It's that red hair, She also head butted someone because they were in her way,
Candice, go to the doctor!!! Might be something else. Or not.
That;s funny about the tooth-hope it doesn;t bother you.
Up toooo early and we were out late last night, I will have a morning nap.
Be good all. Mima

Mima...I know I need to go...just been too busy and was hoping it go away like before. WE didn't go south for my neices wedding..didn't think I could travel 6 hrs in the car one way and be up to enjoying anything.
Where is everyone???????????????????

I don't know about anybody else ,but, I am here most days. Just don't post. My life is much the same daily. I don't want to bore anyone.
We haven't been away for so long, about 3 years. The hubby just doesn't want to go. We thought about going up to the daughters for a few days. Her hubby doesn't want Christie in the house. It is too hot to leave her in the garage. Pugs can't stand the heat.
I wish we would get some of that rain from your storms.
I am still working on my weight. This is a life long thing.. It is so hard to get where I want to. Too many things tempt me. Last night we say a add on T V . Louie said that looks good. I said they just put those things on TV to tempt us and make more money when we are dumb enough to buy it.
Have a Good Weekend Everybody..

Hello. Got home from a month long holiday. Travelled across Canada and it is one HUGE country. Did a little dip down into the USA, and spent a night in Duluth. So was in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan and then a few days later dipped into Maine to get to Fredricton, New Brunswick. It was a fantastic holiday. Did end up in the ER with a blood clot in my leg, but other than that it went smoothly - except it rained most the time. Had about 7 days of nice weather and a few windows during the day.
Joanne - I hope that tooth doesn't somehow get infected now that it has broken off.
Candice - I hope you did get to the Dr. Start taking a probiotic if you don't, already.
Mima - good luck selling your camper. It's the right time of year. 12 Teeth - my goodness, that won't be a nice experience I am sure. Hope it all goes smoothly. Baby is sure growing up. Doesn't take them long.
Meme - AT LAST!!! You have said NO. Good for you. You just need time to rest your body and stop pushing it. You can't outrun these conditions, no matter how fast you try to go. The book club sounds like fun. Dinner for all the kids sounds like a good thing to do as well. They are sure growing up, eh? Ashley turned 13 on the 03 Apr. My gson turns 13 in September. Our little gal turned 5 on the 21 May. Time goes by so darn fast anymore.
Tammy - hope you are doing ok. Check in when you can.
Will check back and see if anybody comes by. Sure is a slow thread.
Happy Canuk

Gosh, I knew it was S L O W , but this is crazy. NOBODY has checked in here for over 6 days!! Hope you are all ok.
Hi Anne-I wrote a big long post and then it disappeared so I gave up/
Nice trip-too bad about the blood clot. Sounds like an awesome trip.
We haven't sold the camper but I did have it power washed so it looks better.
Going to a wedding tomorrow so I have had to walk every day and eat less as the pants are a small size and I bought them in FL so I can't bring them back-it's ok because I can;t get into some of my summer clothes/
I have been feeling pretty good-doc went up on my med and I take tylenol 2x a day instead of one. Hope it doesn't affect my liver but I get tested everyy month.
Hope Tammy is done with chemo and on her way on her trip. What a brave lady you are Tammy!!!
And Joanne you are not boring.
Pam and Bob have a doctor's appt-she's pregnant but she will have an ultrasound. Wondering if there;s 2 babies as she had a shot to ovulate.
I'll take anything I can get.

Hey wonderful ladies ... hope all is going well for you today. Rainy here, AGAIN. Seems it's rainy every day. We've had more storms lately and they sure do make me achy!
MIL turned 90 Sunday. Had a big FD and BD bash here with all the family and hubby's brother's family, 19 people. Too many! Hubby grilled but I did everything else. Too much work! I stayed in bed all day Monday and most of the day yesterday. That happens to us when we do too much but there are just times when we have to do it. His brother was out of town until Sat night (I think his wife plans those trips on purpose) so it was left to me. His mom absolutely deserved a party after 90 years of life so I was ok with it all.
Daughter's BD is tomorrow and Son-I-L's is 7-1, then I'm through 'till Aug. We're going to see Mr Poppin's Pinguins tomorrow and out for lunch (w/daughter & kids) so I think I'm going to wait and combine her BD dinner with SIL's one night next week so I'll only have to do one!
Last Bk club meeting was better than the first. More people and better discussion. No one wanted to leave. :p Good sign, I guess.
I've been hurting a lot worse lately. Don't know if it's the weather or the diseases ... hard to tell. Hoping it's just the bad weather. I had a few good days in a row about 3 wks ago and Jenna came over (12 yr old gd) and helped me for a couple of days. We painted porch furniture and cleaned out closets, etc. She's a good helper and loves coming over. I love having her, too! We make a good team. Reminds me of when her mom was that age.
I hate going to the dentist SO BAD! So I don't go unless I have a toothache. Hubby fusses at me all the time. I think my teeth are in pretty good shape. Last time I went ('bout 2 yrs) the dentist said they were. And like Joanne's hubby, I'm getting where I don't like to travel that much. Give me the comfort of home. I just hurt too bad, I guess. I think we're going back to Pigeon Forge for our Ann next month but that's not far. Joanne, we take Ginger with us. Anne, You're trip sounds like it was so much fun but too long for me. I'd be dying. Awesome places to see! Candice, I'm like you ... wait and hope it goes away. I hurt my left arm 3 months ago and still haven't been. Still 'nursing' it along. I KNOW it's not going to get better by itself!!! :(

I wrote a fairly long post.. It is somewhere out in space..
So far I haven't had a problem with the tooth that broke off. I feel sure the dentist will say it has to come out. That will present a problem. My Dr. says it is risky. I would have to stop the coumadin for 4-5 days and he says I could have a clot. I have already had 3 minor heart attacks in the past couple years.
I too hate going to dentist and dr.'s
It is so hot here in my area. My plants are all dying and what isn't wilting the grasshoppers are eating.. I have no grass left.
Well Ladies I just took Christie out. It is now my time to get comfortable and read my book..
Have a good weekend..

Hi. Been in the hospital since the 17 June and got home yesterday. Those dang blood clots, again in both legs, and in the lung. Was so exhausted and couldn't breath on the 17th, so went to ER. Ran all kinds of tests and the CT scan showed the clots in the lung, and the Doppler showed them in the legs. A few others as well. So, now have to be on Warfarin (Coumadin) for the rest of my life, because of the Atrial Fibrillation and the clot causing factor.
Joanne - sure wish I could send this rain to you. I am SOOOOOO sick of rain. All we saw on our trip as well, from coast to coast - rain, rain and more rain. EVERYTHING is flooding in some provinces.
Mima - Woohoo! another little one on the way. GREAT. Glad you have been feeling better.
Meme - get to the Dr. I have found that I, myself, blame a LOT of stuff on FM when in fact, it has nothing to do with it. NOT a good thing to do. Glad the book club is a success and it appears everybody is enjoying it, or at least the good company :smug:
Hi Candice - come on out and play for a while. Tammy as well.
Catch you later, need a rest.

Happy ..I know just what you mean.. I had a clot in my rt.lung many years ago and lost the bottom lobe. Since then I have had two more and I am also on coumadin for the rest of my life.. No fun for me. I have to go to lab almost weekly for them to draw and check my levels.I hope you are feeling better soon.
Mima.. Trying to keep the weight off is worse than trying to lose it.. My Dr told me to get back into exercising. I can't walk the distance I used to. We bought a exercise bike.. I am trying to get on it as often as I can..
Hello Candice..

A new week and hopefully another new start to living good..
This Anthony case has gotten out of hand.. I find it hard to believe what is going on. It just shows you that keeping your mouth shut you can get away with anything including killing your child and throwing her in a swamp..
Not much news here. I have lots to do today so I better get started. I hope everyone is well.
Joanne
Well-good morning. Had a big problem with ibs and just almost finished cleaning up. Too much info.
I have been going to Silver Sneakers exercise. It;s a nice class with lots of old ladies. My doc told me I have to stretch firs-he even showed me the exercises/ They also have a nice pool.
Busy. busy, Pastor asked me to have Bible study here on Friday night-then there's a shower for his son's fiance the next day. And a bd party for the daughter of one of Suzanne's friends who only aked me so I can see the girls. Lots of girls. Lily cut two huge molars so That might have triggered some biting. Doc told her to use more oragel.
Next week is Brad;s 70 th bd and we are taking his grandson to the Science Center -he is so cute and 5 so that is actually a joy for Brad. Next Sunday i will have a surprise cake for him. Just his son and sister and Aunt. He did not want a party.
He is putting in the floor in the apt. he fianlly hired someone. Ever since he had his teeth out , he has been extra tired.
Sorry about your root canal Joanne-not fun. \
Boohoo for the Casey Anthony verdict. But it was a nutty case. They are going to make it a law for parents to report missing children
Bye for now. Mima

I live a mile from the Gulf Of Mexico.. A lot of people go to the beach to watch the sunsets. Now they are talking about charging 5 dollars to get on the beach. These retiree are not going to pay that. They go out there nightly to visit and watch the sunset.Being a county park,I guess they can do that without considering anything but how much money they can get..
There is a small beach south of that owned by the city of Tarpon Springs. I wonder how long it will be before they try the same thing.
I need to get busy and catch up some chores. Our daughter will be here this weekend..
Have a good week everybody..
Joanne
Well-we are still here but forget to post.
Glad your pain is better Candice.
They are always looking to raise money. God made the sunsets-they should be free.
We wnt to our annual Mission conference this weekend and as usual it was great, I helped with registration but the other lady does all the work ahead and lots while we are there.
We rented the apt to a young girl just out of college, Lots of people came to see it-one was a smoker-NO!!! We really hope this works out.
Still going to exercise and really like it. One of the grandchildren is staying over tonight and we are going to the science center Then Wed I am going to drive to CT and take care of Lily on THurs so Suzanne can work overtime and not have to pick her up early. She is still biting. Suzanne begged me to pray that it will stop.
It;s that red hair.
Lots to do today -stay well everyone. Mima

Haven't been here for awhile.
We were up to our daughters this past weekend. She is 55 today. I find it hard to believe. Where have the years gone? She has started back to school this week. She teaches 3 rd grade. So we had her B/D early.
We had some good rain yesterday and so far this morning. We need all we can get. The ground will be dry soon enough.
Nothing new here. Our G/son's wife is expecting again.
I did some heavy lifting this week when we got back home. Just getting things out of the car.I don't think there is a joint in my body that doesn't hurt.
The hubby can't help anymore. But he still drives the car. He won't give up there.
Have a good week

Well ,we spent Sunday and Monday at the hospital. The hubby had some chest discomfort. They did a lot of tests and found nothing.. Next time I will give him a dose of maalox..
It seems that things around the house get harder to do.. I have a stack of ironing. I will try to get some done today as well as doing the laundry. I hope everybody is well and having a good week.
Joanne
Bad Mima hasn't been around. I turned 73 on Monday and we went to VT for a couple of days. Stayed at a nice B and B, We have a new tenant-lovely lovely girl. A chemist who works nearby.
Waiting to see what Irene will do-Brad bought a generator to run the pump if we lose elec. Breakfast out with my friends this am.
Haven;t been able to go to exercise because I hurt my shoulder, But I will go today. Hope we don;t get too much damage-it depends where it goes. We live in N central Ma. Bye for now Mima

Mima- I don't think you should get much of Irene by the time it gets up where you are. Living in Fl. I have been through many storms. I am not afraid of them. I don't like to see damage to anyone but we sure could have used the rain. Our part of the county misses out . I live a mile from the Gulf. It rains all around us. Eleni, my sister, two miles away always gets it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
It must be a time for shoulders to tune up. Mine have been hurting for nearly a week. I have put off going to the Dr. I hate those injections. I couldn't get in today if I wanted to.. If I can't stand it after the weekend I will have no choice.Meanwhile I will just have to do the heat and Tylenol. Have a good weekend everybody.Stay safe.

Hello everyone. I've been in a lot of pain. No excuse for not posting sooner, I know, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I haven't really done much of anything lately except read and watch TV. I have about given up on everything else. I do a little housework and some cooking but not much of that either. Hardly ever shop ... just WM for groceries when I have to. Pain and fatigue is really bad. Hope you all are well.

I can relate to anyone in pain.. My shoulders and arms are hurting so bad I can't do very much. I tried to get into Dr. yesterday and today. Not possible till Friday. So I told them this has been going on for the past week. It is arthritis and I have had it for years. They told me that the message was still in Dr's in box. maybe I will get lucky and they will call me sooner.
Too bad about Irene. So sad that 40 people have lost their lives because of it. What I can't understand is why they were out in it in the first place. I guess they didn't realize that you stay in a safe place during a hurricane.
Hope you all are having a good week.

Joanne, my pain has seemed to increased dramatically in the last few months and I can't figure out why. Doesn't make any sense. I'm not really doing anything differently than I had in the past. I can't sleep, can't do a lot of simple household chores that I used to do even. It's just weird. Sorry you're hurting so bad. Hope it gets better soon.
I know about pain-one area after the other haunts me. I went back to exercise and that helps some parts. '
Suzanne and lily spent 2 nights here because they had no electricity. What an awful storm althought the fierce wind didn't do any damage. those poor people in NJ and Vt. My brother has a place in Wardsboro and they were the last people to get rescued.
Going to the 3rd calling hours in 2 weeks. This time it's the campground owner's father. But the we are meeting someone for dinner. We are pulling the camper out of there in a few days.
Going to a Fair on Sun with son and wife. Next tues we find out if it's a boy or girl. Gotta make a quilt.

Very quiet. Has every body abandoned the thread just when I've come back? Bummer! ;)
Not been having any good days lately. I don't know if it's the weather, the disease getting progressively worse or my diet (or maybe a little of all the above). I'm thinking about going sugar and white flour 'free' and seeing if that will help me out a little. Something's got to give b/c I can't take this pain much longer, it's about to get me down physically and emotionally. I'll have a lot more problems with the flour than I will the sugar. Oh, I know I'll have the jitters and headaches but that will pass, but the flour is in everything. I don't really eat a lot of bread but it's really hard to get flour out of everything you eat. I'm not sure that will even be a possibility for me the way we eat out all the time but I'm sure if I just cut out most of it I'll feel a lot better. I was going to wait until after I go to the Rheumatologist in Nashville next Tues but that's almost a whole week and there's no time like the present so I guess I'll just go ahead and start now. Wish me luck (or should I say 'wish me will power'). :p
Meme=try Spelt. Berlin Farms in Ohio has lots of nice products and Udi's in the grocery store is great. Sugar is my downfall-I just bought pumpkin streusel bread from Berlin Farms . The Blackwood Brothers are coming here on Thurs,
Our grandaughter got baptized yesterday along with 9 others. What a church they go to. It's alive!!!!
This summer the grandchildren are getting to know us. Saw Liy last week and I am babysitting on the 24th while they go to a wedding nearby.
Bob and Pam are having a girl. I am making a quilt with farm animals and a John Deere tractor but quilting it in pink. I can only do a little bit a day.
Exercise is helping me because it strengthens my legs.
Bye for now. Hi everyone, mima

Hey, have we decided to call it quits on this thread?
Joanne - I hope you have gotten lots of RAIN. Also hope you are feeling not too bad.
Mima - how is baby? Did you get your house rented out, and if so, is this a good renter this time? Won't be long and you will be heading South again.
Meme - try going Wheat free. Google Wheat Belly and read how it affects us. It is really a hard thing to do, but it can be done. There is also a book called Wheat Belly.
I am still struggling to find energy. The clots in the lung are probably responsible for that, but I don't know that for sure. Have had a couple of different tests and all the blood work came back PERFECT, the Dr. said.
Getting ready for my 1/2 day of work this week. Catch you later and I do hope that we can get ourselves going again, after a little summer holiday.

Ann, I know how you feel with no energy. It's rough feeling tired all the time.
I'm not doing so good on my 'diet'. Seems like when I tell myself I'm 'dieting' I start craving what I'm not supposed to have! :p I'd do a lot better if we didn't eat out so much (about 2/3 of the time) but it's a social life style and I'm sure we would miss it. We have lot of friends. I'm trying to find safe things to eat in restaurants besides salads all the time. Then ... there is "night-time eating". OH BOY! That's a killer for me. I love to have some choc. at night while watching TV. I bought some dark choc covered raisins thinking maybe a few of those would satisfy me. Bad move. :(

Hi there Meme. Guess it's just you and me for the moment. How fitting. How many years have we been on this site?
When the fatigue hits, I would almost KILL for carbs - and not good ones. Ones with sugar - lots and lots of sugar lol I rarely crave chocolate, and when I do, I end up with a migraine, so I don't much of that. I can't have cookies around as they are far too easy to grab and eat mindlessly. Hubby has 85% chocolate, and if and when I do have chocolate, I have gotten used to this and find milk chocolate to taste terrible - used to hate dark chocolate.
We eat out once in awhile, but not that often, thank goodness. Have to watch my intake of "greens" now that I am on Warfarin. Not too much vitamin K, as it does clot the blood faster.
Fall is here after our beautiful summer weather of the past couple of weeks. Had temps into the 90's on Sunday. That was a terrific way to end summer.
Hae a good day.

was at it's worse, I was developing fibromyalgia. I finally changed my diet to higher alkalinity (raw fruits, veggies, soaked nuts and seeds) and my PH went from 4.5 (acidic) to now 7.0. I think you can judge how your diet is affecting your fibromyalgia by testing your saliva PH every morning:) It worked for me to get better, and also lose all my weight.

Meme, that a loooong time alright. That is about the time I got my computer and found this site. I wonder where Joanne and Mima are?
The fatigue I am having now is from the Pulmonary Embolisms. They said it could last up to a year or more - YIKES, I hope they are WRONG. It has been 3 months now, and my leg still hurts. Wonder how long that goes on for. Said the clot in the leg usually gets better after 3 months and the lungs after 6 months.
I am coming down with some kind of viral thing. Sore throat, runny eyes and nose. Don't like this, as can't take much to help myself while taking Warfarin.
Pamela - I am glad that you have gotten better. I believe diet does have a lot to do with FM and OA - to acidic causing inflammation. Food for thought for sure. Meme, it might be worth a try. The pain from FM that I have now is minimal, and that is good for me. It is the FATIGUE, I can't deal with.
The wind is blowing so hard - hope it doesn't blow in SNOW from somewhere:)
Sorry I have been away so long. Lily is 18months old now and soooooo cute. I babysat last Sat and she never stopped except for a 15 minute snooze.

Mima - you have been busy. Guess it's not that much fun to come here and talk to YOURSELF lol Congrats on the new baby. Always such a blessing when a new little one joins the world. Good luck with the back surgery. I sure remember when I had mine and the recupe time was 4 months. I think in some cases, now, they just do it in the office, and wack off the portion of the disc that is troublesome.
I am so happy for you, that you have gotten a decent tenant for once - even one who bakes and shares. How nice is that? Will be a load off your mind when you head South this year.

I guess it has been a while since I have been here.. I never get notices anymore and I have given up trying to fix that..
All is well with me and the hubby. Our son is having a rough time of it. He has been out of work for nearly 2+ years and can't find a position in his field. He went to police academy and finished there. Now he has been having a lot of health problems. Tuesday he has to have shoulder surgery. In the past couple years it has been his kidney stones with surgery, 2 ruptured disks in his back ,fractured rib, and many problems from neck surgery . He got that in a water sky fall. Now he will lose his house because he can't pay the house payments. It seems every time he looks somewhere something happens. His wife has a good job ,but, it is not enough.I pray God will help him.
I am having some problems with my weight. up and down. My nerves sends me right to the fridg and the things I should not eat.
We are hoping for rain today. Hit and miss showers don't get here to us..We live too close to the gulf so they just skip over us.

Hello Candice.. Sorry to hear about Problems.. That can not be fun.
Our son had his surgery and they found more wrong that showed on the mri. His thoughts of getting a job with the state is off. He may go back to school and catch up on his architecture . That is what he is good at. He got burned out and when he lost his job he sorta gave it up. He was in that area for 25 years and was in demand until everything in the job market(building) went south. Things are not good here in Fl.
I am still trying to lose some weight. Not easy..
We are going out to his house with lunch for him today. His wife had to go back to work,so it is our turn today..

Hi Candice and Joanne.
Candice - that sounds expensive. Hope they can do it soon, before it freezes. Maybe that doesn't matter, and perhaps it doesn't freeze that early where you live. They charge an arm and a leg for everything, anymore, and then it is just not what you expected - either cheaper made than you thought, or arriving broken (as in the case of my son).
Joanne - I sure hope your son will be up and at 'em soon. Must be a worry for him. Having had so many probelems, I am surprised that the Police Academy accepted him. I hope he can get back into his career and be content there. I know it's a bad time - everywhere. Not so bad here in Alberta, as we have oil to keep us working.
Got a haircut today and it feels soooooo much better. Will go to work tomorrow. Had a bit of a set back with a nasty virus (for me, not the computer lol) Better now, but it does seem to take it's toll.
Everybody enjoy the day.

Happy - Most of this stuff (health problems) came up after he finished the academy. Some he had before but he didn't mention them as he passed their test to get in. That area is not to be,I am pretty sure, THANK GOD.. None of us wanted him to do it in the first place..
Now we are hoping it is out of system. Just about 2-3 years wasted. He is so talented in his architecture and art it is a shame for him to lose it,or not use it.
Have a good week.

My son had shoulder surgery.. He told me that he has to have 6 months therapy and will not regain full use of his right arm.. He is left handed .maybe that is a blessing. He just has not taken care of himself and has had all these injuries.
It appears to be getting closer to cooler weather. I am very tired of the heat. Pretty soon I may be saying I am tired of the cold weather.

Hope the surgery helps your son. I put off seeing anyone about my shoulder. It's slowly getting a little better. I fell on my left one last Thanksgiving and on my right one last Feb. The right one is almost back to normal but the left one is still messed up. I don't want surgery! I'm just plodding along, stuck in the 150-160s, too. I'm up and down from one week to the next. This is a bad time of year for me, too. Mom and Dad's BDs were both in Oct. Dad died in Nov and the Holidays were always a big celebration time for our family.
Hubby's dad is slowly going down. He's in the bed 99% of the time now. He is 93 and his mom is 90. I'm cooking for them about 75% of the time ... it's not easy but she is worn out trying to take care of him. We all just do what we can, one day at a time!

Meme ...sorry to hear about your dad.. Things are not easy when parents get older ..In my case my hubby is 85 and starting to sleep a lot.. He does little for himself.. This makes it hard. I have not felt really good for a couple years..
The family is doing whatever they can to help our son.. I wish he was able to get more control of his life.. Illness has taken a toll. His wife is good. She has her own set of problems with her son. He is in rehab for different things plus drugs.. I have to say this family has gone through a lot in the last couple years..It can only get better soon .
Have a good week. We will keep trying with the weight problem..

I hope that everyone is ready for Thanksgiving!! I have given those days over to my kids. It just got to be too much for me. We are going to our daughters this week. I may assist her with some of the cooking. The whole family will be there. Our son and his wife will have dinner over at the rehab where her son is and come back in the evening...
Our son had surgery on his shoulder and now doing therapy 3 times a week.. We are in hopes that this will be the end of his medical problems.
All is well with me. Just the usual little bumps in the road.
Mima- I hope you are doing better after your back surgery.. No fun I am sure..
Hello Everybody..

Where is everyone? Out buying Christmas presents? Don't forget mine!! :p
I haven't bought even one gift yet. Behind, as usual. I did get the tree up, with the help of Jenna, youngest g-daughter. She's my little helper, though not so little anymore. She's almost as tall as I am now. She is such a joy and a help to me, too. She came over last weekend and helped me put up the tree and the Christmas village. Don't know what I'd do without her. Hubby doesn't have time to help me now with his dad so sick (he's dying - we've called Hospice in) so when I need help, Jenna comes over. She loves her Meme and her Meme loves her! ;)
These big dinners are so much work. I enjoy them but I'm almost too old to do them any more. Or maybe I'm not too old, maybe I'm just too sick. I've been hurting so bad lately and almost all the work around here is on me now. I get so tired. I can't do it all. Things are beginning to pile up and I hate that. Don't know what's going to happen but something is going to have to or I'm going to have to hire some help!

I wrote a fair sized reply this morning. Only God knows where it is in space.
Thanksgiving was nice Most of our family was there. That was a house full. The only thing was a bug got to this family and everyone was/is sick.I had a touch of it and am trying not to catch what the hubby has..
We plan to go back up to our daughters for Christmas..It is just too much for me to do it here anymore.
I too have not bought the first gift or card.. I need motivation.. I don't plan to put up a tree or decorations. We will be gone and it will save me a lot of work..
It has been cool here and now getting warm.. That is Florida weather. Warm one week and cold the next.
I hope everyone is well.

Oh my sounds as if you all are falling apart! ;) Me too....got our foundation work done and it took forever to get the mess all ceaned up..then ahd to rest a spell with alot of pain. I overdid at Thanksgiving cooking this year...don't think I will try that again. Then hurt myselft putting up x-mas lights...now gotta take them all down soon....this up and down weather really gets to me....almost done with x-mas stuff...only one son here since the other one just moved into his new home and she is working over x-mas.
Just got off of Jury Duty..what an experience...was on a 2 day DUI trial but there all week....it just abolut killed me to be upa nd ready at 7:30, drive myself there and stay all day and drive myself home.
The pup is sick with a bad bladder infection on 3 meds and not much better..he has to go out all the time and had few accidents in the house, we have to keep him the room with us and limit his water...poor thing.
Does not seem like Christams this year...no white stuff I guess. At least I do not have to shovel. Have baked some..but not to the extent I used too. Have 10 pounds I need to shed also.....it just creeps up on ya!

It looks as if this site has almost been abandoned. Candice, I know how you feel about just getting the decorations up and then having to take them all down. Holidays are becoming more and more work every year. I've been on jury duty before ... no fun at all. I was on the Grand Jury once and it lasted forever!
My FIL is dying. He doesn't have very much time left. He only eats a few bites of food a day now and sleeps almost all the time. I went over last Sat and cleaned the house and made out my MIL's cards for her and mailed them. I do all the cooking for them. He is 93 and she is 90. Hubby goes over every morning before work and stops every evening after work and then goes back a lot of times before bed. FIL is in diapers ... he hasn't been out of the bed in 6 weeks. It's sad.
Everyone is coming here for Christmas and then we are going to try to take dessert to MIL's in the evening. They have a very small home so I don't know how that's going to work but that's what she wants so I'm trying to put it together. Pray for them ... and for us! Hope you all have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Meme....it is sad when folks get old and do not have any quality of life left. Went through that with all our folks, it was a relief when they finally passed.
You just do what you can for them while they are still here and it sounds like that is being done.
I didn't even put a whole out this year..inside anyway..my wrist/arm was so bad I couldn't do too much. I do everything here, dh does nothing and my cleaning gal quit last spring with no notice and I have not found anyone yet to help....but I cannot do this by myself. We are still getting the house in order and unpacking now that we have the water problem fixed ( we hope).
Mima..waht did you do to your back?
Joanne..how old is dh now?

My tree and village is all I put up and, like I said, Jenna helped with that. I did put a garland with lights across the back of the bar and hubby put lights up outside. I have a Christmas runner on the dinningroom table and a poinsettia ... have a few of those throughout the house but nothing else that had to be 'put together.' If I get my desserts made and make it through Christmas dinner, I'll be doing good. Hubby went to a wholesale place here where we get frozen cassaroles and bought a scalloped potato cassarole and a sweet potato cassarole for Sunday. All I have to do to those is stick them in the oven. I bought a ham and a turkey but I'm not doing the homemade dressing this time. I bought stovetop so all I'll have to do is wrap the turkey and ham, put them in the ovens and go on to church. Come home, swap the meat out for the cassaroles and make the stovetop. I'm making it easy on myself this time! (Well ... easier!) ha
I have finally got all the Christmas presents bought except 3 gift cards. I plan to get those tomorrow while I'm out. Have apps to get my nails done and Ginger's hair cut so I should have a couple of hrs wait on her to finish up everything. Everything is left to me this year, shopping, baking, cleaning, cooking ... you name it and I'm doing it. Strange thing is ... I don't know how I'm doing it. I'm actually in more pain now than I've ever been. I've cut way back on the amount of church work I'm doing. I have no jobs at church now and the only thing I did for Christmas was teach the kids to sign 1 song and the teens 2 songs for the program. Anne would be so proud! I've learned that word, NO, so well now! ;)

The dog had to go in for bladder surgery, over a 1000 bucks...had over 50 stones...he will stay the night and get him in the am...but then he has to remain calm and no jumping............

I hope everybody had a nice Christmas and they have a safe New Year.
We were up to the daughters for 11 days . Most of our family was there. It was crowded but nice..
I ended up at a walk in . I woke up and could hardly talk. So the daughter took me and her hubby to get antibiotics.. He has had something for 3 weeks. Knowing me she wasn't willing to not go. I am fine now..
My hubby is 86 and sometimes a pain in the neck. He still won't give over the driving of the car and to say the least scared the heck out of me coming home today. I don't know what to do with him...
Now I have to get back to losing some weight . I haven't been on a scale in 11 days.. Tomorrow I will face the music..
Have a Happy New Year.
I will try to get back more often..

Hi Candice, Meme and Joanne and Mima
Candice - you ae always hard on yourself. Time to get hubby to do SOME of the work. I can't imagine that he won't help, when he knows you are not well. That is not even NICE!!!
Meme - I am proud of you as you have FINALLY leaned to say NO!! Good for you. A person can only push so far before the body starts to shove back.
I sure feel for you and your family. It is very hard to watch people just leave bit by bit. When you start to relax a bit, now that the rush is over, you are going to H U R T!!!
Joanne - gosh, good thing your daughter took you to the ER. Those things can turn so easily. Glad you had a nice Christmas with your family.
We were with my daughter on Christmas Eve, at my son's Christmas Day and at my daughters again on Boxing Day for a good Spaghetti dinner. We all get together and just enjoy ourselves. My gkids are growing up so fast. The oldest two are 13 now and our baby is now 5.
For the most part, I belive the blood clots are gone, but I guess I will be on Warfarin for life. Next up, is surgery on the 01 MaRCH to remove an ovarian cyst that keeps growing. Found that when looking for a reason for the blood clots. It just goes on and on it seems.
We don't have to be dead here. Even if we checked in once a week, it would still go well. I think I will start a new thread tomorrow.
I have my gdaughter here this week, so don't know how much I will be on the computer. I will wish you all the best in the New Year, now in case I don't get back until next year:carrot:
Yikes-bad Mima. Candice, I had surgery to correct scoliosis and degenerative disc disease. I am doing great. Went to exercise class yesterday-sore but I avoided certain ones. I have pain in my left hip/ Used to have bursitis in my right leg and sciatica. All gone
We always go yo my son's house for Christmas. It was nice-her parents also live in the Park/
Sorry about your fil. Sad.
So nice to read all your posts. Mima
