Default Truth or Just Wishful thinking

Ok, don't start laughing at me yet. I have a question. You may laugh after I ask it. Is there any truth behind the statement:

You should lose 10-20 lbs. before starting an excerise regimine because all the added fat you want to lose will turn into muscle.

comense laughing.....

The original statement is false.

But if it were true and fat COULD turn into muscle, I'd be pumping iron every possible second of every possible day. Muscle is more dense than fat. That means that if you have a pound of fat and a pound of muscle, the muscle is going to LOOK smaller. Not to mention firmer!!
