Default Homemade mosquito repellent

I'm considering making my own before the camping season starts. I think I want to use catnip oil. Any idea where I can get my hands on a small amount of that?

You might have to buy it online if it's not available in stores- I'd google it.

I did. I just want a small amt to start. I might be able to find it at a health food store or perhaps Whole Paycheck.

Here's a link to purchase online:

Yowza! At over $60 for 2 oz, I'd probably just go buy store made repellant!

Try this website. http://catnipoil.org/

About halfway down there is a recipe. Looks pretty simple. I'd use cheap olive oil though.

My Aunt always swore by Avon's Skin so Soft lotion. I haven't bought Avon in years, but I think they still make it.

Yep they do! Actually they have a bug repellent line now too. (That's SSS based)

I miss their catalogs.. I can never find one. Looking online is not the same.

That's funny, my grandmother always had a spray bottle of SSS by her back door (it's swampy down here). We were like little oil slicks running around the backyard. I always thought the SSS worked because the mosquitoes slid off before they could bite.
