Lindsey Our dog Magnum is 12 years old. A couple years ago the Vet thought he had a tumor under his neck, in his chest area. The X-rays didn't show exactly what it was. The Vet convinced us that it was cancer and it needed to be removed. We had it removed. We felt so bad about him being in pain afterward. Of course we gave him pain meds, but still it was not good for him. The labs came back that it was just a benign fatty tumor. Afterward we thought about it. What if it was cancer. We were not going to give him Chemotherapy, so there really was no sense in removing it. We decided at that time, due to Magnum's age, if something like that ever comes up again, we won't do surgery. If something can be treated with medicine, his arthritis, allergies, etc. we will treat. At this point in time, I don't think we will do surgery. Unless you have a situation of a broken bone, etc. I don't know. That's just where we stand now with Magnum. It's a tough decision.

Krampus... My best friend lives in Austin (goes to UT for law school), it is a great city! Let me know if you have any questions about Nashville! I would seriously never leave if I didn't have such a great job offer in D.C. ... I still likely will come back someday, Nashville is amazing. Knoxville is a college town, whereas Nashville is much more young-professional, I'd definitely reccommend Nash, of the two.

Ah, a break through today. My 14 year old son said he noticed I had lost weight. Now THAT is saying something! He never comments on stuff like that and probably doesn't usually notice.

I just weighed myself before bed and was 127.... I'm feeling discouraged. Either somehow my metabolism is really screwed up and 1200 is now maintenance or something (if so, kill me now), or my body just stubbornly refuses to go lower than this weight. I'm still so happy with my exercise progress and can see changes there, but apparently I am doing something horribly wrong with the weight loss. Blah.

Berry - thats awesome!
LL - is it possible with your excercise that you are at a building muscle stage? If I plateu it's usually at a time when I'm putting most effort in with running/gym etc. I'd say keep it up for a couple of weeks and I bet you'll start going down again. x

As for me, my run was great yesterday although I'm suffering with aches today. I did two sets of 15 mins (I'm still amazed, I couldn't run 2 minutes without wanting to die in the beginning) with a 2 min walk in the middle. Next week is the big on, 30 mins in one go and beginning training for my first 5k (haven't decided when yet). Food wise, everything was fine, I did grilled sausages with grilled veggies and mash. We didn't need dessert!!!

Today is the ususal B - Fruit and fibre (250)
L - chillie con carne prehaps with a bit of bread (300 + 100)
D - we didn't go shopping yesterday. I'm planning on beans on toast to be safe and I will eat before we go, I can't go shopping when hungry!

abidabbi... It's definitely possible, my legs in particular have changed noticably to being "harder" lol. Going from 138-129 I wasnt working out, just dieting. But then I read on here that "muscle weighs more than fat" is a myth and that women dont actually gain muscle that quickly, so I begin to doubt that rationalization. :-/

I'm just trying to decide if I should stick at 1200 cals or up it to like 1400 to see if my body is "holding" on to the calories I eat because I'm working out...

Holy canoli! I'm away the weekend and all of a sudden, we're to a new thread!

Sounds like so many of you guys have had great stories for us here! I love it! I had to catch up on the last 8 pages of last thread, so I can't quite comment to each of you, but I'm sending out a collective "rock on!"

Things here with me have been pretty good. I've been holding steady and keeping myself on track for the most part. I "took a day off" counting on Saturday because it was DH's birthday and he wanted to go to a beer fest in our town. I ate pretty healthily but had three beers, which killed my totals, but getting back on plan Sunday was no problem. I had a slight sugar craving Sunday, but I'm guessing thats because I reintroduced beer on Saturday. It wasn't a problem yesterday, and I haven't seen any weight gain from Sat. All in all, I'm finding it a lot easier to keep to my calories in a healthy way without getting hungry. I think at this point, 1400 is my sweet spot.

Still rockin the 182! I can't wait to get back into the 170's!!

Good Morning!

I slept better last night, although it wasn't perfect. I do feel like I am in a better frame of mind, though. :D I have my Endo appointment this morning. I will let you know what she says. I picked up my NYDJ's last night. I washed/dried them before bed. I will be smokin' hot today, if it kills me. ;) I tried them on for DH last night and he really likes them. The problem is that my Mom is coming up today. She will totally hate them. :o She probably won't comment on them, though. What she will do is tell me she likes the other jeans (granny pants) on me and ask when I am going to buy more of them.

Anyways, finishing up my last cup of energy (coffee). I'll be back later to chat.

Have an awesome day! :grouphug:

Checking in for the day. Yesterday I was just on the lower end of my calories at 1261. Did weight lifting in the morning and cardio in the afternoon. Housecleaning in between. Burned some good calories. :D

I was able to run one of my two miles yesterday at my highest speed yet, so I was pretty excited. I got that feeling like you just went out at a sprint and your body is burning, but in a good way, like when you were a kid and could run, run, run. Don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but it was cool. Had to slow it down for the second mile, this 60 pound weighted vest gets heavy ;).

I am sore today in the legs again, darn lunges get me every time I do them! I don't even add any extra weight yet, I think my extra body weight is enough at this point  Sore muscles hold water too :(

So you guys can call me stable mable, scale is still at exactly 205.4! Better than gaining, right? Just waiting for a drop, but still feel a little PMSy, like I am a little puffy/bloated, so I don't know if that will happen or not. Bad news is TOM is not expected for about 8 days! If I am 205.4 for 8 more days. . . .

Good morning!!

jomatho--Hoping you get your drop soon! :hyper:

Diana--I'm glad you got a better night sleep. Good luck at the Endo today and let us know how it goes! I'm curious to see what she says about those extra couple of pounds.

Still--Ooooh, a beer fest sounds like a ton of fun!

LLBold--Don't sweat it too much. I think you have a good plan in place. Try 1400 and see how that goes. Sometimes, our body just needs a slight jolt to confuse it a bit. That being said, 127 is an awesome number and you should be so very proud of yourself!

Abi--I want to train for my first 5k, too. I was thinking a summer/fall one.

Berry--That's an amazing NSV! My kids have been noticing, too. I love it!

Hi, Lindsey! How's your furbaby doing?

I'm so happy this morning. Despite my scale issues, the scale read 202.6 this morning. That puts me at a new low aaaaaaaaaaaaand gives me a BMI of 29.9. So, technically, I'm not obese anymore!! Yay for being overweight!! The scale also teased at 199 a few times. That gives me such hope after such a stinky few weeks weight-wise. :D Happy, happy!

A friend and my mom are coming over today. I might not be around after that, because my mom needs my laptop. I hope everyone has a happy and OP day!

Diana 3271 - so glad you got some sleep and good luck at the endo today.

Shellsbrood - woohoo on the new low! And your kids BETTER notice with that much weight loss. I'm only around 15 lbs gone, so I was really surprised he noticed, but my face has thinned down a bit and he probably notices that. That and wearing clothes that FIT versus that are nearly falling off.

LLBoldasLove - weighing yourself at night will not give you a good reading. Try again this morning.

Lindsey - it's hard to make such decisions with pets, so hugs to you.

Krampus - yay for you on having a skinny feeling day and feeling better overall.

Still - hi!

Larry - you still did great, even for a day you didn't have as much ability to control your portions.

Jomatho - slow and steady wins the race. You are doing great, the scale will reflect it eventually, I promise.

For me - I'm up .8 today. I blame it on the bunless bacon angus burger yesterday - the sodium, but such days happen and it's just a blip on the downward trend, so no worries.

No school today for the kidlets as we had snow, but I'm glad. I need a day to recuperate from my friend being here and so does my 5 year old. We were doing something every day. We need an at home day to relax. We got the treadmill to the basement last night, so I'll clean her up and try her out today! I'll leave the shoveling to the husband. He's trying to lose weight too (he just needs to lose a total of 20, 17 to go). Oh, and the new washer and dryer are coming after noon. Still doesn't make doing laundry any fun, but I'll be happy to have a front loading washer again and this time on pedestals. Our dryer is from 1967. It has one setting - fry everything. Washer is from 2005, but it's a cheap top loading machine and my European husband who has always had front loading washers hate that his clothes are being chewed up by an agitator.

Sun's out and it's purty outside! Puts me in a good mood!

Today was overall a pretty good day though I have no clue whatsoever how many calories I ate. For dinner I went to BBQ with a friend and we had grilled lean cut beef, a couple small pieces of chicken, and a big order of veggies - shiitake mushrooms, green pepper, onion, cabbage and corn. It was pretty weird to have a big meal out that involved no carbs except for little chunks of corn on the cob. It just goes to show how dependent I still am on carbs to feel "full." I felt strangely empty after the meal like I had hardly eaten, yet I'm sure I had at least 700 or 800 calories' worth at dinner. Gonna say 850 because I really don't know.

Breakfast - 170
-Yogurt, oatmeal, some raisins

Lunch - 650
-Stir fry with kimchee, eggplant, carrot, 2 eggs, pasta, sesame oil, 550
-2 squares dark chocolate, 70
-Some raisins, 30

Snack - 100
-1 mini cream puff from a coworker

Dinner - 850?
-Shared platter of DIY BBQ beef, chicken, pork
-Large side of veggies
-1 mini hard candy
-1 pc. sugared chewing gum

Exercise
-45 min walking
-40 min Tae Bo Cardio
-100 crunches

Calorie Total - ~1770

Diana I'm really sorry to hear about Magnum. It's never easy when beloved pets get sick. My cat Cinnamon would have been 19 today if he were still around, it was his birthday.

LLBoldAsLove Yeah I got that impression about Nashville v. Knoxville too. I have lots of family in Knoxville which is why I was thinking about there. Overall I think I'd like to shoot for Texas, though it may be the challenge of a lifetime to stay thin in a state famous for deep frying beer. As for weight being stubborn, how much are you working out? 1200 is awfully low for someone as young and active as you to maintain at...

Serbrider Feel better soon, glad to hear the scale moved!

shellsbrood WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Kiss "obese" goodbye!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning my friends. I just wanted to take a moment before the onslaught of the day started- but I really need to go wake the girls up and get them going. It is just so nice right now. The wondows are open and the birds are chirping and it is nice to take a moment with my ONLINE friends and just be...

I have so much to do today: take A to school, 2 hour workout, take baby to ballet, take baby to grandmothers house, sew on Daisy patches and take it to school, clean up the MESS the baby made with balls and handwashing soap, do yesterdays dishes, finish putting away clothes. OH- and I have I dr. appointment at 1:30. POOP! This list is making my nice moment fizzle away!

Still I will BBL for personals!

Krampus...Well I definitely support the Austin thing as well, my best friend loves it there (Houston, not so much, if you're thinking Texas more generally). Anyways, I typically workout a little under 1.5 hours about 6 days a week, doing my version of HIIT (warm-up, eight intervals at 9/4 on the treadmill, cool down), weight training, and core stuff.

berryblondeboys, enjoy that someone has noticed your weightloss. I'm shorter than you and have lost 17 lbs and NO ONE (besides my husband, who sees me EVERY DAY) has said one single word about being able to tell I've lost....even though my clothes are all baggier and I'm wearing things now that I haven't been able to wear in a looooooong time (3 years). When you top that with the fact that I've been holding at right around 1200 calories for the last week and have seen relatively NO movement in the scales, well, that just makes for a very discouraged me! :( You would think SOMEONE would've noticed a 17 lb loss besides my husband.

I think I'm getting dangerously close to coming off my blood pressure meds, too. I woke up this morning feeling kinda dizzy, black spots in front of my eyes and a headache. Guess I'll check it later. I don't care if people notice or not. I know that I can get into a 16 now and that I've had to come off one BP med already and will come off the other relatively soon......so forget them. I'm just feeling mean today, I guess.....disgruntled......sorry I'm venting. :tired: I think, even tho I've had a hysterectomy, I still get pms. I think I must have it today......I think maybe I've had it since Friday. I wonder it it makes me retain water even though I won't have an actual cycle (Sorry Larry). Any thoughts? Guess I could research it.

Gotta take the kids to school. BBL if you guys can tolerate me.

Krampus... Haha, that is one reason why I'm not giving up despite the stubborn scale, my legs look great! I've always had a lot of muscle mass naturally... my dad says its a Native American thing. haha.

Ack! Endometriosis can make you have to have a hysterectomy at a young age? I have that, it is terrible... but I've never heard of it leading to a hysterectomy. Though I suppose I only know my situation.

GainingWeightInLa
02-22-2011, 09:24 AM
Yeah, I had stage IV Endometriosis. May be TMI, but I had what is known as "frozen pelvis." Basically, the Endo was so bad that it cause my intestines to stick together, my ureters to fuse to my intestines, etc. Also, my ovaries (which are supposed to be the size of walnuts) were the size of a large orange and a large lemon. :( It was excruciating. My son, who was born weighing 4 lbs and who we knew was a miracle since I suffered two miscarriages before him, became even more of a miracle when he was 8 yrs old and I found out that I had endo and had it so severely. He should've never even been conceived, much less born. My daughter is adopted. But there is absolutely NO difference between them. I love her as if she had come from my own body.

Wow. Saying all that certainly brings me outta my funk. lol I'm a blessed woman, fat or not! :D

LLBold, take are of yourself. You have a luxury I didn't have....you know you have it. I didn't know. I knew something was wrong, but they never found out what it was. Make them take care of you so it doesn't get as bad as mine did. It's awful!!! There was NO time during the month that I didn't hurt......to the point that no one could even touch my stomach. After I had my surgery (and fully recovered), I would just lay in the bed and press on my stomach and tell my husband, "Amazing.....it doesn't even hurt!!" I got my life back when I had my surgery! :D

BP was NOT low this morning...just checked it....it's actually a little on the high side 128/88. :( Guess I'm getting a migraine. Blec!!

Have a GREAT day folks!!

Ack! Endometriosis can make you have to have a hysterectomy at a young age? I have that, it is terrible... but I've never heard of it leading to a hysterectomy. Though I suppose I only know my situation.

It depends on how bad it gets. A coworker of mine had a hysterectomy when she was about 32. She had her kids young and she was in so much pain every month, that she and her doctors decided that was the route to go. The pain was so debilitating that she had to take off work every month. A secretary who worked for me, at 22 fainted in the bathroom from pain due to endo - TWICE. And she didn't know how she was going to face decades more of it getting worse. I think those are worse case scenarios, but yes, it does happen.

LLBoldAsLove87
02-22-2011, 09:48 AM
Berry and Diana... Thanks, its definitely something I keep an eye on. Birth control has helped somewhat with TOM, though the doctors have never been able to help me with dyspareunia (tmi? haha) - sometimes for weeks on end I simply cannot, which was a problem in my past relationship. I also have a lot of gastrointestinal/IBS-like symptoms that doctors attribute to endo. I've been told to have kids sooner rather than later, but I'm single and about to start a career, so I've mentally prepared myself to adopt when I'm ready for kids.

It IS such a tough decision. Thanks for sharing this! DH and I talked more about it last night and don't know if we want to "mess" with her right now, she is a happy and otherwise healthy dog, she goes on daily walks and loves going to the park. Right now her quality of life is great! I'm not sure we're ready to put her through that kind of surgery, which this vet said would be intense for such a little dog. This vet said she would remove the mass and all the tissue around it up to her abdominal wall and she would have to have a drain put in...pretty serious! I agree with you surgery is pretty major for them, medications and other treatments I can deal with, but surgeries sure make me nervous. :(

I don't think you're doing anything wrong as far as weight loss! I think the closer you get to your body's "lowest possible" weight, it gets harder. It might take months to lose the last 5 or 10. I think you're doing awesome! :D You mentioned possibly going up to 1400, I'd try it for a week or two and see what happens. I do notice when I go up it can help!

I am soooo close to losing 30 pounds (only 3 pounds away). I guess thats when i'll REALLY feel like im doing this thing. Thirty pounds is a lot, and a great start to my long term goal. I know its ambitious but I really want to lose those 3 pounds this week!

B: Mutli grain cheerios with 1% milk and a banana
L: Smoked turkey sandwich on whole wheat sandwich round with lettuce and low fat mozarella cheese. Might have a small bag of popcorn to go with it
D: Oven breaded chicken breast, green beans, and a little brown rice

Here is a nice ideal body weight calculator you guys may find interesting, just click on ideal weight about half way down the page. It gives an ideal number, but also an ideal range, probably higher end for someone more athletic and muscular and lower end for someone smaller framed/petite:
http://www.healthstatus.com/calculators.html

For me, it says ideal weight is 143 and my range is 127-159. I consider myself athletic, but not stocky, and I am medium build so I think my goal weight is right on :D.

How does everyone else come out?

Hi Everyone!

I just got back from the Endo. My BP was great, it's 107/70. I think I've lost 12 pounds since I was there last. The Dr. is absolutely thrilled with my weight loss. My medicine is a little high, but it's not as much as the last time. She's dropping it to the next dose down. I asked her about my weight range. She said that I am just within the normal BMI range. If I want to stop there that I can and she would support me. (do you hear what's coming? can you sense it?) But she would encourage me to just continue with my current lifestyle (eating and exercising) and see if my weight will naturally settle around 145. It seemed like she didn't want me to try any harder, just to continue what I've been doing. I expressed my concern with the comments I've been getting from other people. She asked me what does my DH say about it. (this is actually funny, because he is also a patient there. I have a feeling if I had said he was NOT supportive, she would give him an attitude adjustment on his next visit.) Anyways I told her that he is 100% supportive and says for me to do what makes me happy. She said he is a very smart man. ;) On to her response about the comments I've been getting. She said for me not to listen to them. She said that our society is so used to everyone being overweight, obese, and morbidly obese, that they get uncomfortable when someone is in a normal weight range.

The other thing she wanted me to do is to start taking an additional Vitamin D supplement. She said that hypothyroidism and Vitamin D deficiency go hand and hand.

She has also referred me to an allergist so I can get tested for my food allergies. I have it narrowed down, but I want to see what type of seafood, if any, I can eat.

Diana: Congrats! I HATE going to the doctor because they ALWAYS lecture me on my weight. I know they are suppose to but its annoying when the nurses and doctors themselves are overweight! I bet it feels good to hear the doc say GREAT things about your weight. I cant wait till I get to that point. I havent been to my doctor since i started my plan but she called yesterday saying I need to schedule one. I wonder what she will have to say about my loss.

Lindsay... I'm going to try 1400 for a while, see how that works. Honestly if I continue to firm up as I have, I'd be happy at 127. I think 118 was unrealistic... but I'd like to lose a little more "extra" that is covering my arms and hips. So maybe I'm really only like 5lbs from that point. These are vanity lbs, I realize. But I'm glad I have you all! This site is helping me stick with the exercise, and keeping me from stress-eating, which I have a tendency to do!

Juicy, your doctor will be thrilled with your loss! They say to first try to lose 10% of your weight and you will see health benefits and guess what? 30 pounds is 10% of your weight!

Sounds like a good appt. Diana! Have you ever gotten your vit D level checked? From what I understand, it is really hard to know how much to supplement or even if you should supplement. Some people need super high doses to get the right level, and some people run just fine on a small dose or no dose at all. I plan to get mine checked with my next round of bloodwork, but I do supplement since I live in the North and don't get much sunshine this time of year. I just want to make sure I am taking the right amount to keep me in a good range. They are linking vit D deficiency to all kinds of health problems and diseases now. I want to get my level of B checked also.

LLbold, I think your plan sounds good if I may butt in  I think you look beautiful. If there is one thing I would change about my past, it would be doing all the needless dieting that I did when I was young and at a healthy weight like you! I think it set me up for failure later on when I didn't have the time or energy to put into it with a family/career, yet my body was used to living on less food and a lot of exercise, so I just started gaining. I'm not saying you will get fat like I did, but it may make it harder to maintain your normal weight if you push too hard and restrict so much right now. Could be all in my head, but I think I ruined my metabolism that way.

10% is awesome! That's what Dr. Oz is always recommending on his show. He says you will cut a lot of your risks of disease way down by losing 10% of your weight. I'm not a big Dr. Oz follower, but from what I have see of his show, I have heard him say this frequently. I just passed my 10% mark when I was 207 and I was excited too!

Okay, so this morning I got on the scales and it wasn't showing much of a loss for the week (my official weigh in is tonight at my mtg) so I left and took my kids to school, came home, got dressed for work and then weighed again. I'm looking at 1.5 - 2 lbs for the week! I actually saw, fully dressed, 216.2!!! I ended up last night at 1258 calories (up from 1166). Maybe eating a little more helped some weight actually come off? :D At any rate, I'm happy. My goal was 1.5 - 2 lbs/week when I started this journey. I'm nervous about changing ticker to 216 because yesterday it was still 217.....but I think I'm gonna do it if it still reading 216 at mtg tonight. :crossfingers:

Diana3271 - glad it was a great appointment and you know what, your doctor is right. We ARE used to seeing people overweight that even an extra 15-20 pounds seems normal and OK. But you just have to do what feels right for you and if what you are doing now seems easy and comfortable enough (so that you aren't obsessing over things), then why change it? But you know as I know, 155 is better than 200, is better than 300. And maybe 145 is better still (but it starts to get marginally so).

My husband just went on a high dose Vitamin D as it was way low. I'll ask mine to be check in April when they check my glucose again.

Jomatho = that's a pretty big range. About time. I remember looking at charts when I was a teen and they were a 10 pound range. When I look around at kids, even in my son's kindergarten, I see how differently we all are built. No way do we all fit the same tiny range! My best friend's son was here. He is exactly two years younger than my son. Her son is TINY for his age, but that's his dad's size of the family (his dad wrestled 106 in high school!) My son is enormous. Big hands, big feet, big head, broad shoulders. He's a full head and shoulders taller than my friend's son and nearly doubles his weight and while her son is a bit too thin (he's been sick), my son is not overweight.

I'll be curious to see how I feel about my 'ideal weight' when I get closer to it. I've chose 175 as my goal. My ideal is probably between 155-165. All I know is that when I was 185, I still had some to lose. When I was a teen and still growing, at 140 (and only 5'4" then) I was thin and athletic - not overweight at all. So... add 2.5 more inches too me and some more filling out, doctors think the 155-165 range is right... but can we really know? Really? Until I get closer to it and they can test for body fat?

If I ever get that low, I will definitely want to get a TRUE body fat calculator, just because I want to know!

Hi Everyone

Just a quick drop-in for me today. I am running on about 2 hours sleep and am on pain medication for my back so staying focused is really tough right now.

Here is my plan for the day Tues 2/22/2011

B - Small section of a whole wheat baguette w/ natural PB and organic blueberry jam + 1 cup canteloupe + 1 cup choc.almond milk

L - Homemade vegan shepherds pie + 1 cup mixed veggies

S - 1 small banana + 1oz dry-roasted almonds

D - Homemade red raddish tabolueh

Drinking: At least 2L water + 1 pepsi

Exercise: None, back is very very sore

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

Jo - According to that calculator my ideal healthy weight is 130 pounds. My recommended weight range is between 116 and 145 pounds. :o That's probably about right, I'm considered a small frame though (6" wrists), so maybe I'll have to lose more...*sigh* But, I suppose where I feel most comfortable I'll stop there...whether it's 120, 130 or 140!

Diana - I agree with your Doc, I think as a society we're used to seeing overweight and obese people, when we do see someone that is in the normal/healthy range, we think they are "too thin."

Juicy - 10% is awesome!!! :D

LLBold - You might be gaining muscle and losing fat if you're weighing the same, but you're noticing yourself more toned/smaller. Fat takes up less space than fat. I'd be happy with 127 too! ;) I think I was around that when I graduated high school. Keep up the good work! :high:

J...I'm considered a small frame though (6" wrists)...

I just measured my wrists, 7.25. Now, I think there is a "bit" of padding at the wrist, but not more than a 1/4 of an inch. Now I'll have to look up what that means. I measured my 14 year old son's wrist (and he's still growing) and they are 7". Bigger than his dad's and I've always had bigger wrists than my husband, even at 185. And he's 6'1" tall!

Guess what, I'm a really large frame. Like I didn't know that? LOL anything over 6.75 for women 5'5" and taller is a large frame. Range of weight for me given is 141-161 and since I'm 7.25" wrists, I'm guess the 155-165 range the doctors gave me years ago is pretty spot on. Notice my goal is NOT there. As confident as I am about all this, I'm also aware of how difficult it might be to get to 'ideal'. I'll take, "getting really close".

Thanks for this Jo. It says my ideal is between 116-145. I am very muscular and have never been skinny. 140-145 might end up being my goal. My trainer says I only have about 50 more pounds to lose so that wold be right on. Maybe I'll change my ticker goal. He says definately not 132- that I am too muscular for that to be my goal. But if I change my ticker now I feel like I am either cheating or giving up.

Stacy, I don't think changing your goal weight on your ticker is cheating! I am sure many people have changed their goals throughout their journey. It is encouraging hearing it and seeing it from different sources though. I would be glad to not have as far to go!

HOLY COW!! I've been away so long another thread was started.

I will never catch up. Maybe it's best to start from here.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm around 191 right now. Struggling so so much with TOM and this being my birthday week and feeling entitled to eat what I want because every day is a dinner or drinks to celebrate.

I worked out very intensely this weekend and yesterday. My muscles are so sore. But still I'm up 4 pounds :(

I really need to get back on track. I think I need to cut myself some slack this week though since it's my birthday week and then next week start fresh.

No time for personals today! I missed you guys! :)

Novelista- :celebrate: Happy, happy birthday! Definitely just let this week slide and start next week fresh.

I'm doing rockin today!

Breakfast- 251
1 c. raisin bran with granola
.5 c. milk
hot tea

Snack- 122
.5 c. oranges
1 string cheese

Lunch- 470
salad plain no dressing
grilled cheese sandwich
1 c. tomato soup
.5 c. canned peaches

snack? more hot tea, this time with splenda in it

and dinner is going to be a 400 calorie subway turkey sandwich with lots of veggies on it.

Exercise- burned 300 cal at the gym

I have room for another snack later too.

How is this looking? It's kind of representative of my normal eating patterns these days. Some days theres more fruit, and occasionally chocolate, but for the most part this is it. Last night's dinner was baked bbq chicken and steamed broccoli. Am I missing anything?

I thought the ideal weight calculator was pretty cool. My ideal weight is 143 with a range from 127 to 159 pounds. As I'm pretty muscular, I'm also focusing on the higher end of that spectrum.

Just made a yummy dinner that even vegans could eat. For a family of four (my little guy doesn't eat with us much yet).

One bag of broccoli slaw
one large red pepper, chopped
one large onion, chopped
grated tablespoon of ginger
2 cloves of garlic, minced
3 tablespoons of natural peanut butter
1 tablespoon of peanut oil (could be eliminated)
a couple of splashes of soy sauce
a sprinkle of red pepper/cayenne
1 container of planter's cashew nuts added at the end.
Enough water to mix and make a slightly thickened sauce

With everything but the cashews, bring to a light boil, reduce a bit if necessary and then cover to let the slaw get tender, but still keeping the peppers and onions slightly crisp.

I ate it just like that, others had it over rice. I had a big portion (1/4 the total) and my calorie count came out to be 600 calories, 38g carbs, 19g protein and really tasty!

Lauren – Hello!

Jo – Yep! I’m close! ;)

Berry – I think it’s more of an idea…kind of like the BMI charts, I’m sure there are people that are healthy that don’t fall into the “normal” weight category.

Stacy – I agree with your trainer, if you’re more muscular probably 140-145 would be perfect for you! :) Girl, do you know HOW MANY times I’ve changed my goal weight?!?! That is SO not cheating. I would call it more like “reevaluating.” ;) It’s really hard to pick a goal weight, I kind of think when you’re there you’ll know.

Novel – Happy Birthday!! :celebrate: I wouldn’t stress about the 191, I bet it’s from water weight and your intense workouts. It’s temporary! But, I know it’s frustrating! Hope you have a great birthday!!!!

Still – I think your menu looks great! I like that you include chocolate every once and a while…I’m a firm believe EVERY diet needs chocolate! ;) Looks like you’re doing well. What kind of workouts are you doing at the gym?

Berry – That recipe sounds good, might have to try that! I’m always looking for healthy, yummy recipes! :D

Hi Everyone! Thank you for all the support you have given me. I appreciate all the helpful comments. I think my next goal is 155. I will just play it by ear and see what happens. I am just going to keep doing what I've been doing and I'll see what happens. The Dr. even said to keep doing what I'm doing and not make any changes and see if I naturally go to 145. I am satisfied with my eating and exercise so I will keep doing my thing.

Jomatho Wow! You use a 60 pound weighted vest? That's amazing! I'm not sure if she tested my Vitamin D level. Maybe she did. I forgot to ask.

Shells Great job on the new low! You are doing a great job!

Sebrider Congrats on the scale moving! I hope you are feeling better.

Berry I got a chuckle about your 1967 dryer! That thing must have been made really well! That recipe sounds delish!

Stacy It sounds like you had a busy day. Did you get it all done.

LLBoldAsLove Hi  Your arms in your profile/avatar look great. I wish mine looked like yours.

Diana(LA) How did you meeting go? It's funny how people don't always notice that we've lost weight. People really started noticing when I hit 90 pounds loss. 90 pounds! Can you believe that? Last week the UPS came in the office and about freaked out. Literally freaked out. I see this man every week. Sometimes a couple times a week. He was like OMG you've lost weight! Ok, so I've lost 135 feaking pounds and you've just noticed! I've lost a whole person! No! I didn't tell him that. Although he did ask how much I've lost. Can you believe that? A man asked me how much weight I've lost. I told him that women do no talk about their weight and he needed to get out of there before he got into trouble. :D I said that jokingly, of course.

Vixsin Great job on the .4.

Lindsey I think what you said about your little one being happy and otherwise healthy, is very important. That surgery sounds rough. Think and Pray on it.

MzjuicyD I can hear the motivation about the 30 pounds in your post! You go girl! :carrot: I'm sure when you go to the Dr., they will be absolutely thrilled with all the work you have done!

Lauren I'm so sorry to hear that you are having back pain again. Has the therapist helped any?

Novelista Hi and :bday2you: Enjoy your week!

Still Hi  Are you satisfied or are you feeling hungry? Try it for a couple weeks and analyze from there. Great job at the gym.

Well, it's a good thing I DIDN'T change ticker. :( 217.2 was the official weigh in. That makes my total loss for the week a whopping pound. :( My smallest weekly loss yet. I'm a bit bummed, but am convinced now more than ever that I'm not eating enough, exercising enough and I'm not measuring enough (salad dressings and such). My new week starts today. It's a new week with a new start. Hoping next week's weigh in is better. :D My goal is 1.5 - 2 lbs per week.

I do want to share a recipe that was shared at our meeting tonight. I haven't figured calories yet.....
1.5 C. Fat Free (or Reduced Fat) cottage cheese
1 pkg ranch dressing mix

Put it in the blender and blend well (add a little water if it's too thick).

It's SUPPOSED to taste JUST LIKE the REAL ranch dressing! I haven't tried it yet, but I LOVE ranch dressing...I miss it terribly (I don't like the fat free stuff). So I'm buying cottage cheese tomorrow while at the store. I may have learned of a new heaven tonight.

I've had exactly 1100 calories today according to livestrong.....not enough, I know.....
Breakfast: Crackers=whole grain (180)
Lunch: Healthy Choice Chicken Margherita (sp?) Cafe Steamer (320)
Supper: Quiznos small new honey bourbon Chicken sandwich on wheat
Baked lays bbq chips (450)
Evening snack: Skinny Cow chocolate ice cream cone (150)

Goin' to visit my hubby....have barely seen him today. :( Nighty night all!

Lacey: Don't get discouraged. Loss will happen again as long as you stick to it.

Diana3271: Glad to hear you are getting some sleep.

Jomatho: Running at high speed, that's awsome. I was never fast even when I was in shape. On that calculator it says my ideal body weight is 139 lbs. My goal is 143 so it's too different.

Shells: Congrats on the new low and getting out of the obese category!! Way to go!!

Diana in LA: Good to hear you will soon not need blood pressure meds. I hope you are taking regular readings to protect your health. You said that "You would think SOMEONE would've noticed a 17 lb loss besides my husband." If it's any consolation I have lost 42 punds and nobody has noticed yet.

Vixsin: Down .4 great!! I see you are from Western Mass. I used to be on the Board of Governors for the Springfield Shriners Hospital for Children.

MzJuicyD: I am rooting for you to reach that 30 pound loss mark. I know you can do it!! Doctor's used to lecture me on my weight also. I once resolved that by searching out very fat doctors to see.

I had a great day today another 2 pound loss this morning brings it down to 275. This makes it a 42 pound cumulative loss since January 6th 2011. I don't know what I am doing but I sure hope it continues.:carrot:

Okay, I think I am going to have to change my username to jomatho205.4!!!! Yes ladies and gent, 205.4 on the nose once again this morning. My body is definately at a set point. I did everything right yesterday, extra water, great workout, really pushed myself, ate at the middle of my calorie range at 1407, and I even ate my dinner earlier than usual around 5:30, I was getting pretty hungry when I went to bed, but I'm not much of a snacker, so I just went to bed thinking maybe it will get me over the hump. NOPE. Oh well, I still have my coffee even if the scale is a meanie.
Diana3271, I laughed out loud when I read your question! No, I don't have a 60# vest on with my workouts, I FEEL like I have a 60 pound vest on because that is the extra weight I am carrying when I try to workout. I always think to myself, if I could take this 60 pound "vest" off, I could probably run like the wind! It used to be an 85 pound "vest" though so it is getting better. I carry most of my extra weight in my chest, stomach and hips, right where a vest would go, so thats where it came from I guess. Sorry for the confusion, you must have thought I was a mad woman!

Larry, I am really not very fast either, never have been, it's just fast for me. Technically I am still probably going at a speed that would be considered jogging, not running, but thats all just logistics, right? Great job on your 2# loss! Keep up whatever you are doing, it is definately working!

DianaLa, Hey girlfriend, I only lost 0.8 last week (and none so far this week)!!! Would you rather have that number? And, if you haven't heard, I have been stalled at 205.4 for like forever!!!:D:D:D Kidding, a pound is great! Like I finally convinced myself, its better than not losing or even gaining, right? I know it doesn't meet your goal for the week, but you will have a bigger loss eventually and it will even it out. Somehow after 12 weeks, some small losses and some larger losses, I keep averaging out to 2# per week. I bet if you look back, count the weeks and average them, you would be pleased. It helps to look at the big picture. You know, now that I think about it, my husband is the only one who has mentioned anything about my weight loss too. My mom popped over the last two days and didn't say anything?!? Hmmmmm. Oh well, I hate weight loss compliments anyways. I want to fool myself into thinking no one noticed how fat I had gotten, like I hid it under those big clothes! HA!

Still, I think your menu sounds good! I was going to suggest more veggies since they are filling and low cal, but then I noticed you had broccoli the day before and your sub was full of veggies so I am sure you get them in. Keep up the good work.

Lauren, I have to hand it to you, dealing with your back and eating on plan. Good job not letting it sidetrack you! Hope you find relief soon!

Got a good workout at 10 pm last night (gotta love trying to fit it around kid's schedules). And the weight blip from yesterday is gone. New low of 240.4.

The bad news is that my kindergartener woke me up with vomiting. he came to our bed and started to vomit over my husband's (vacant) pillow this morning. I caught most of it in my hands preventing a huge disaster, but still, not a pleasant way to wake up. So, no school AGAIN for him. That means, last Wednesday Dental Surgery, half day Thursday for teacher conferences, no school Friday for teacher conferences, no school Monday for President's Day, no school yesterday for a snow day and no school today for being sick. Jo - I'm the queen of being "stuck." I really think your body gets stuck once it's preparing to go down to the next lowest weight. It's like it's last "fight" if you will, before it gives in. For weeks I was stuck around 148 and finally, my body just let go and now I'm at 145 in a matter of a week or so. This has happened to me many times. I'd call them mini-plateaus. Unfortunately, you can't do too much about them if you're doing everything right already, you just have to be patient and try to avoid the scale if you can for a few days! You're doing great, don't forget that!!

Berry - Congrats on the new low!!!! :yay: Sorry the kiddo is sick. :(

Oooh, I just realized my math was wrong, I am wearing a 50# "vest", not 60! HeHe.

Lindsey, thanks for the encouragement! I used to have much more patience. I am starting to notice a pattern like this right before TOM, but a whole week to 10 days before seems excessive. Oh well, just have to keep on keeping on!!

Berry, I have caught many a puke in my hands, that's love! Don't understand why those kids can't run to the bathroom instead of the bedside! Hope it runs a quick course, and I hope you don't get it. Get out the disinfectant! I'll never forget one time we were in the car with the kids and my sister in law was with us, sitting in the 3rd row behind the kids. My yougest used to always get car sick and he threw up, she caught it in her hands and she just sat there, leaning over the seats, holding this puke, looking at me (I was in the passenger seat) like, "what do I do now?". We still laugh about that today! Ick!

Argh! Post got lost in the world wide web.

Cliffs Notes version: eating was cleanish today except planned ice cream from Baskin Robbins. 1500 calories ish. exercise good, about 50 min walking, Tae Bo cardio, 50 pushups and 100 crunches and planks.

Jomatho - I know, things you never thought you do that becomes something normal. I felt a little bad for getting a bit upset for him coming to our bed KNOWING he was vomiting, (I found a puddle in the hallway on the way to our room). We now have the vomit bowl by his side and that's caught the last two rounds. Poor kid. So, I'll just sit beside him today on the couch and keep myself busy on the laptop.

And those stalls - they stink. I was stuck at 5 pounds loss for 10 days. I was like, "really? I've only been at this for 2.5 weeks and I'm ALREADY stalling? For real?" And then the next five came off in less than a week. So weird how the body does that!

Larry - You are doing so fantastic!!!

Stacygee - hope the coffee helps!

Lindsey - woohoo on 145 and have a good breakfast for me!

Krampus - yay on a good day!

Hi ladies and gent, I hope to be able to catch up with you all sometime at the end of the week just trying to get some serious thesis written this week...

Yesterday was great, changed the plan for dinner we went out and I had chicken, corn on ze cob and spicy peas...I decided chips were off for me and I'm glad I decided against them. I was quite proud of myself actually ^.^

Tonight is running night, was going to go out mid-day but it's pouring! I don't mind running in the rain but I'll see if it calms down out there. I've decided to step up my training a big step today. So I will do my 2x15 mins with the 2min brisk walking break and then try for one more circuit after a 2 min brisk walking break. Hopfully that will mean 40 mins jogging which equates to about 400 cals.

B - Two large slices of toast (400)
L - got up so late B is effectively L ;)
D - grilled turkey with tex mex marinade, rice and mixed veggies

I hope everyone has a lovely, OP day, much love x

Hey guys! Quick check in... ate around 1400 yesterday, weighed in at 126, I'm going to keep at 1400 and see where it takes me!

Normal HIIT workout yesterday, but my ankles feel "iffy" so I think I'll bike today? Would that or eliptical be better on my ankles? Alternatively I could do walk the treadmill at a super high incline.

Berry... I hope your little boy feels better! I had to catch some puke in my hand yesterday - from my little pup! I'm pretty sure she ate too fast before running around playing with my roommate's dog.

Krampus... glad you had a great day!

Larry... Congrats on the 2lb loss, what you're doing is staying committed!!!

Anyways, law school still kicking my butt until March 4th (paper due) and 5th (national ethics exam), but after that, spring break! I'm staying in Nashville, can't go anywhere because I need to save for Italy, so I hope it is warm here that week!

Okay, so I'm changing my ticker anyway. Yesterday morning I weighed (as usual) and the scales read 216.2. Last night at weigh in they read 217.2. This morning they read 216.0. I think I'm safe moving them to 216 now. I think I'm just gonna start going by my scales for ticker since I weigh on them EVERY day in the morning and only once a week in the evening on WW scales, which are constantly broken down and put away. Mine sit in the same spot all the time except when I put fresh batteries in them. What do you guys think? It seems obvious to me that the scales are atleast moving....

Anyway, Larry, I just have to say YOU ROCK!! Over 40 lbs in less than two months?!?! Oh how lucky you are to be a man, at least when it comes to weight loss anyway! :D Congrats!! You've worked hard for it. You deserve it!! :cheer3:

Krampus, that's a smokin' workout, girl!! WOW!! :workout:

Berryblondeboys, I hate throw up. :( I've almost done it WITH my kids. Hope your little one is better soon. Hopefully it's a 18-24 hour thing. When I was 7, I had a stomach virus that lasted over a week....we're talking throwing up several times a day for over a week. I've hated throw up ever since then! lol

Jomatho, I have days where I do really well with veggies and some days are just off. Yesterday was a so so day, I guess. I do eat a salad almost every day, though. I'd never thought of hoping no one notices because maybe it meant they didn't notice how overweight I was to begin with. lol Good point! :D My son did hear me telling my husband last night that no one had noticed....he piped up and said, "Mom, you CAN tell...you've lost quite a bit....your belly is a lot smaller!" He's a good boy, even if he was only trying to make me feel better! I think my FIL noticed yesterday, but like I said on here a while back, I don't think he'll say anything because last time he said something about it, I got off plan like a week later and I think he felt responsible because he "noticed" I had lost. Yesterday, he kept looking me up and down while I was talking to him. You have to know him....he doesn't do that--I'm hoping he noticed and just didn't say anything.

You are sooooo close to onederland. What a stinky place for a stall! It's soooo hard to push thru times like this.....but I've lost almost 20 now....if you're like me, no WAY are you giving up NOW! You're toooooooo close!! It'll come for both of us....

Well folks, I'm going to finish my oatmeal and get started with my busy day. blec! I really just wanna crawl back in bed and sleep. :tired: Have a GREAT day everyone!!

Great workout last night. 20 min run at 5.0 and then 15 mins of hardcore incline walking. After watching the Biggest Loser though, I felt that my workout was half-a$$ed. Going to the gym tonite too. Planning on incline walking for 45 mins. BTW, I am really loving incline walking!!!!! I just feel so strong while doing it. I guess there's something about walking up big hills.

Ugh!!!! Let me tell you how my day has been so far. I haven't been up 3 hours and my day is already not going right lol. I got up this morning, showered, dressed, did hair and makeup. I even took the time to make my lunch for the day. So I leave and catch the bus to work and right when I get off I realized that I had the day off from that job!!!!! Ugh!! I had forgotten that I switched shifts with this other guy at work! I couldn't catch the bus back because it doesn't run in my neighborhood every route, so I had to walk home. Luckily my job is only a little over a mile away, but its mostly uphill. The topography of Danville is terrible!!!!!!

I guess I can just look at it as another workout. I'm so embarrassed lol.

Diana - Thanks for asking, the physio therapy has not been working really. But I think it's because my therapist really didn't understand how bad the pain actually is. I told her how at least once a week I will be up all night because I am in so much pain and she thinks that maybe we are moving to quickly, need to slow things down. I am also going to see my Dr. tonight as my therapist recommended getting an MRI to make sure there is actually nothing wrong with my back. We'll see how things go from there.

Diana(LA) - Don't be too upset about only losing 1 pound. You are still losing thats the main thing. I'd take anything right now. Let us know how your new recipe turns out :D

Larry - Great job being another 2lbs down! :D

jomatho - Thanks, I'm trying to not let the back pain get in the way of my plan but it is really hard to eat properly when you are tired and have no energy to cook.

berry - well done on the new low, you are doing great! :cp:

==================================================

As for me, I actually got sleep last night!!! And quite a bit of it. Was in bed before 10 and slept all the way until 7:30 this morning so I am feeling a lot better today, still tired from not sleeping for most of the weekend but much better. My back also feels better today, the physio session went well last night went back to some very basic core strengthening exercises and also got some new stretches to do.

Here is my plan for the day Weds 2/23/2011

B - B-I-G breakfast as I have a team lunch to go to and don't want to pig out. Weetabix w/ almond milk + 2 small slices multi-grain bread w/ natural PB + 1 small banana

L - Going to an all-you-can-eat Italian restaurant - which is great place for a vegan eh... and someone who is trying to lose weight... anyways my plan is to eat some pasta with a tomato based sauce and probably some salad

S - 1 small apple + 1.5oz dry-roasted cashews

D - Homemade red raddish tabolueh (was supposed to have this last night but physio went late so I made something else.)

Drinking: At least 2 cups green tea + At least 2L water

Exercise: 30mins brisk walk on the treadmill + physio prescribed core strengthening exercises

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

DianaLa, nope, I'm not the giving up type, well, I guess in the past I have been or else I'd be skinny, but not this time, I am seeing this to the end!!!! I think my body has a natural setpoint here, I seem to remember being at this weight, both on the way up and the way down, too many times in the past. :o And I think having PMS right now is not helping one bit. A double whammy. That's cute what your son said!

Thanks for all the encouragement you guys, I think I would be wallowing in my own pity without you :grouphug:

Vixsin, :woohoo: for a new low! I feel like a few of us are all lined up at the gates of Onderland, just waiting to be admitted. I hate waiting in lines!

Sum, have fun tomorrow! That sounds great! Sorry about the sick kids.

Lauren, yay for the good nights sleep!

Juicy, ok, that really sucks. Good for the workout, but man, I would be upset too! And you got all ready and everything! Uuuggggghhh

Debbie, I was just thinking about you yesterday! Glad you had a good time and glad you are back on track today! I am a little worried about what to eat and drink on my vacation coming up, but I think I am going to not do any tracking, just try to make mostly good choices and try to get in some kind of exercise every day, walks, swimming, whatever. I mean its a VACATION after all right?

Berry, my treadmill doesn't go lower than 1.5 incline because that is most closely simulated with running flat land. Any lower than 1.5 and you are essentially running downhill. That's what I have always understood. Sometimes I wish I could have it lower though!

NSV: I just had to go to an office that is 6 flights up, and last time I was there in November, I was huffin and puffin at the top, this time, I flew up like a breeze, not out of breath at all! That felt good! I almost went down and back up again, almost ;) So I may be stalled, but I am in much better shape!

Hi everyone,

I lost about 35 lbs. last summer (May 2010-August 2010), and then I got off track. I've started exercising and counting calories again, and I've dropped a few more pounds. Right now, I'm doing the Turbo Fire Inferno Plan. I'm on day 4. I thought I could keep myself accountable through an online community. You guys seem great, so I'd love to join you!

I was up another pound today to 192. If by tomorrow I don't see any loss I am going to move my ticker back up.

I spent this entire morning crying...about being up 5 pounds over the last couple weeks and turning 30 on Friday. I don't know what it's all about.

I feel so extremely emotional that I am trying to be positive and look at the good things that are going on and just enjoy myself this week and crack down on myself next week after the birthday's over. BTW...THANKS for all the birthday wishes!! :D

Two positives today:
1. One of my clients brought me a HUGE bouquet of gorgeous flowers!
2. I'm going after work to pick up my birthday present to myself... My new running sneakers...I'm going to start training for a 5K in a couple of weeks.

It will get better...I know it!

Mydearthing Hi and Welcome!

Vixsin Yep, I'm doing Turbo Fire! (with the blond chick! ;))

Lauren I'm glad today is a better day for you. I remember when I was in a car wreck. I did physical therapy for a couple months. It didn't really help. I felt so helpless when the therapist said that they were releasing me because there was nothing else they could do. :( I think I got the most help from using muscle relaxers and just trying to eliminate the stress in my life. Every time I felt stress or got upset, I ended up having pain in my neck. I also had to stop using weights in my workouts.

It is so hard to keep up with this thread now that I have a life and everything. I managed to scan your posts, and congrats to those of you who have seen successes the last couple days (quite a few of you, it seems). Larry, especially you, 42 pounds is amazing! Man, if I lost that much I'd be, well, done. Of course, circumstances are different, but it's still interesting to think about.

jomatho, that calculator you posted a few pages back told me 122 is my ideal weight. I'm a weird girl in that I like to stay on the meatier side, so I think I'll still be pretty happy with my current goal of 125-130. I measured my wrists--6" circumference! Seems so little.

I am sick :barf: <--luckily, not like that. Just stuffy and sore. My entire face feels clogged, I can't hear anything or smell and my eyelids are heavy. And I can't taste anything or tell when I'm hungry, so I overate yesterday as a result and am trying to not do that again today. Still, yesterday was good, I was at about 1700 calories. I wanted to exercise but didn't want to exacerbate my bug.

So far today I've eaten an egg and cheese croissant sandwich and some pasta with tofu and veggies (sounds healthy, but it's school cafeteria food, so...). Plan is some salad and an orange for dinner, and maybe a bagel with cream cheese and some berries later on. Comfort foods, yes. But I'm keepin' it within my calorie goal, so I'm too congested to care about anything else. :smug:

Haven't figured the calories for it yet (it ain't much). Probably a good bit of sodium.....but OH Ranch Dressing how I have missed you!!! Once upon a time I thought about getting my PhD, or in my case an EdD, but after living through my husban'd PhD, NO WAY!!!! While, yes, you do have to have some brains for a PhD, yes, I think it much more about being persistent than anything else.

My husband was doing a PhD in phsyics when I met him, but he left that as did almost everyone else at that time (only one in the entire Univ. Chicago system stayed to finish as the job market dissolved). He then became an actuary and later went to get his PhD in Economics and Insurance at Wharton.

Novel I'm sorry you are having a hard time lately. I bet your new running shoes will help get you going! A little retail therapy never hurt anybody! :D

Kyra welcome!

vixsin congrats on the new low!

jomatho I totally agree that I need to work in more veggies. I always have at least a veggie with dinner and one with lunch, but I'm struggling with working them in snack wise. I tend towards fruits for snacking. Got any tips for me?

Also, I can't wait to see your plateau break! It's gonna happen!

LindseyLou You had asked about my gym workouts. It really depends what I'm feeling like when I get there. I always do at least 20 min of cardio, usually either the elliptical or intervals on the treadmill. I like to do 40-45 min, but sometimes I'm just proud to have gotten there, you know? :) Usually twice a week or so I do the weight training machines, typically focusing on core, back and arms since so much of my cardio has made solid rocks out of my legs. What do you guys do to make the most of your workout time?

Diana I'm feeling really great at 1400 calories. I started at 1200, but that was too low- I felt like I HAD to exercise every single day just to meet my food needs. At 1400, I feel satisfied, can have a snack or some chocolate or a glass of wine here or there, and can actually maintain that number of calories without working off some of it, so I don't feel bad about workout rest days. Is that pretty good? It feels good, but we'll have to see what the scale says in a week or so.

Still, I hear ya on trying to fit in veggies! I have a hard time too. Some days are better than others, but I do know when I have them, I get much fuller with my meals. I don't snack on them much either, maybe carrots while I am cooking dinner, I just try to get them in with my meals when I can.

DianaLa, glad you found a way to have your ranch and eat it too :D. I bet you have some big salads planned!

Eury, sounds like your goal is right on! I prefer a little "meat" on me too. I would never want to be bony, but I don't think I need to worry about that any time soon!

OMG!! If I don't learn anything else at my WW mtgs, the new ranch dressing recipe will be worth every cent I've given those people!!! I am almost literally in HEAVEN!! It's WONDERFUL!!!! 1.5 Cups fat free cottage cheese, 1 pkg (or 3 TBSP) Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix, about 1/4 Cup water.....blend in blender. YUM!!!!!!! Haven't figured the calories for it yet (it ain't much). Probably a good bit of sodium.....but OH Ranch Dressing how I have missed you!!! It tastes a little different (a little tart or something) but when you dip something in it, I can't even tell. :D :D :D Just had to come share!!!!

Diana - my calculations show this to be only 8 calories per 2 tbsp serving. It is very low cal for sure. My wife loves ranch dressing I will have to test this on her.

Oh wow thats a lot of reading! Okay Ladies and Larry, I made it to the end of the thread! COngrats on your losses, sorry about your stalls, hang in there! And wow on the low cal ranch dressing!

As for me, Today the class snack person brought cookies and cake... UGH. I had some calorie room, but I still shouldn't have had two cookies and a half a slice of cake.... Soo mad at me.... However, I lost .75 lb from last week Thursday, I feel good about that, but it makes me feel worse about going over. Then I got home, and made my BF a frozen pizza... I had a small piece. Wasn't hungry, but the thick crust looked like carby heaven...

I also got a new phone, android, LOVE IT! Found a free app, fatsecret, it's a calorie counter like all those others, but it has a barcode scanner! Yup, I scan a barcode, and it tells me the nutrition info, and I can log it from there! WOO HOO!

I think I'm getting sick. We had a gig Saturday night, I think I wore my voice out, then I forgot my allergy meds for about 3 nights in a row, so now I feel like a frog, and I'm swimming in snot... ugh. I hope it's just the allergies and it will clear up tomorrow, but with me working in the preschool once a week, I probably caught a bug, either from a kid in class, or a college classmate who is also working with the little ones... I feel very foggy.

Tomorrow I'll be better behaved... or in bed sick all day.

Breakfast: Greek yogurt w/granola and almonds (300 cals)
Lunch: Turkey club sandwich (400 cals)
Snack: Cottage cheese and sm. peach (200 cals)
Dinner: Beef Bourguignon (400 cals)
Snack: serving of low cal icecream (120 cals)

Good Morning!

I had a busy day yesterday and wasn't able to do personals. Hopefully I will get back here today.

I had a high sodium meal last night but had a loss on the scale. :dunno: Hmm, is it going to sneak up on me tomorrow? Today is a new low for me. 156.4. I'm down 1 pound but only down .2 from my original low.

Lindsey I had bounced back up. I have been 100% on plan, so I contribute it to the lack of sleep. I don't change my ticker when I'm on plan and have daily fluctuations. ;)

Berry - crikey, it must have been hard for him being the only one. My work makes (in different research areas but in the same office) keep me going as when one of us is having a bad day, we can all relate... I'm glad he got his in the end though :)

Lindsey and Lauren - My dream would be to compare to Sheldon, but slightly less OCD...I think I have similar people skills some days though ;) I think it's from being stuck in the lab'.

LindseyLou - I hope to be submitting in June, have my viva defence a couple of months after and graduate early next year...can't wait!

Good Morning! :coffee:

Diana--Congrats on the new low! We're the same. I'm a pound down this morning from yesterday's weigh-in, but .2 down from my lowest. Great minds...! :D

Tina--Glad to have you back! We missed you! You're doing an amazing job...wow, almost 30lbs. That's awesome! :carrot:

Andejean--My dh has an Android and loves it. I swear, it's his new child. He still grins every time an email comes in and it says "DROID".

Lindsey--Yay for being normal again. ;) How are you doing today, my friend? How's school going?

Stacy--You're such a good friend. How is she doing?

Still--I love your new picture! Is that your son with you? I have a readheaded ds, too. He's such a joy. :val1:

Rianna--Welcome!! I love your pic, btw. You're so pretty!

Vixsin--How was the gym? Did you totally rock it? :lifter:

Diana(LA)--That's such great news about the ranch dressing. I don't actually like ranch, but dh does, so I'll have to try it out on him. Thanks! :D

Eurydice--Poor thing, feel better soon. :(

Novel--Sending you a great big hug! I know how that feels and it's so frustrating. I think you have a great plan in place, enjoy your birthday and we'll be here to cheer you along as you'll blast back into the 180s and beyond. ;) Hang in there, Sweetie!

Welcome, Kyra!

Debbie--So glad to have you back!!

jomatho--I am so with you...I hate lines, especially when we're so close to Onderland! I think our bodies are secretly evil and see how close we are and then decide to bounce around just outside of the Promised Land. No way! We WILL get there and we WILL succeed. Take that evil scale! :p

Sum--I'm glad your ds is feeling better!

Lauren--Yay for good sleep! I love getting a good night's sleep, yet it's so hard to get that lately. I'm also glad to hear your back is feeling better.

MzJuicyD--Oopsie! :D That totally sounds like something I would have done. Bonus for the extra workout though, right? ;)

Mydearthing--The squash soup sounds delish!

LLBold--Good luck with your paper and exam. You'll do great!

Berry--You are amazing! I would have let the puke fly, before having a kid throw up in my hands. I have such a weak stomach and my ick factor is so very low. :barf: Luckily, my dh has a stomach of steel and handles most of the accidents around here. :^:

Krampus--Ugh, I hate it when that happens! I hope you had a good day, today. :)

To anyone I may have missed, have a wonderful and OP day today!! :dancer:

Good Morning All

When reviewing yesterdays food I realized I did not eat enough. I only had 965 calories. I did not feel hungry for some reason but I will need to make sure I get close to my 1500 cal plan or I won't be getting proper nutrition.

My weight is steady at 275

No walking yesterday. I did not dare get too far from the bathroom because I had a bad case of diarrhea all day. I am much better today.

I just finished breakfast of 1 cup Cheerios with a medium banana slice on it and 1/2 cup skim milk for a total of 250 cal

Shells- thanks for asking about Deb. She is actually doing really great. The doctor said so much of fighting cancer is in your attitude... if it is all about attitude she'll be FINE! She has 6 weeks of radiation and 12 weeks of chemotherapy.

Why on his website are people so HAPPY to point out when they THINK you are wrong? Made me mad to the point I might quit contributing here. The thing about weightloss is that it is really not an exact science. What works for one person may not work for another. That is the beauty of this site... you can share all the different ideas and people can try some things that may or may not work. But- belittleing others or saying you are wrong is really not ok with me. I am going to re-evaluate what contribution I make. Maybe I'll just come to this thread from now on... i am really upset.

I'm up .6 to 208.0 today.

No worries. I had a KILLER workout yesterday so in my heart I was expecting a small gain. My legs are really fatigued today. (LOVE IT!!!!) I'm so glad that TBL inspired me to push a little harder in my workouts. I ran yesterday and tried speed intervals for the first time. I was running at 5.0 and did 3 2 min intervals at 6.0! I was so impressed with myself! Especially after the last interval..it was really hard and I had to really push to keep good form and make it through to the end. But I did it!!!! I can't decide if I should rest today or do a little upper body (rowing machine) today. We'll see how my legs are feeling later.

Vixsin: Congrats on the killer workout. I LOVE how i feel after a hard workout!

Debbie: You are so lucky to have a gym so close to your house! lol

My boss was feeling much better today so i was able to get my early morning gym workout in. We were running late so we only had 45 min to work out. I did 20 min of weights, 15 on elliptical, and 10 on treadmill. I like to mix it up a bit because i get REALLY bored when im on one machine too long lol. I probably take it easy for the rest of the day. Im kinda nervous about my weigh in tomorrow. I steped on the scale the other day and i saw 265.something. I was just excited to see the number because it'll be a new low. However, when i got back on it was back to 266. I kno that new low is in there somewhere! Needs to come out of hiding! lol

Arrrgh! My back is sore again!!!!!!!!!!! And the worse pain so far. Yesterday after my lunch out with my team, it started to get sore then by 3-ish it was so bad I had to leave work. It was so uncomfortable. I couldn't sit down, I couldn't lay down and even standing hurt. All this even after being at the Physio the night before. I went to see my Dr. and she checked my back and did some tests to rule out nerve damage on slipped discs and everything appears ok. She thinks it is just a muscle problem which is why I need to continue to see a Physio. She prescribed me an anti-inflammatory and pain killer meds and they did help.

Anyways, I have been seeing my Physio for 2 days every week for the past 6 weeks and clearly she is not helping at all. We have a friend who is also a physio and said that I have to find a new one right away - I should be A LOT better not worse after 6 weeks of therapy. So that is what I am trying to do today.

"Working" from home today in case any bad pain comes back again. Don't want to have to take those drugs at work, they are very strong and make me super sleepy.

And again this damn back pain is getting in the way of my eating. I eat fine throughout the day and then my pain comes back and I lose my appetite and only eat something, usually junk, just so I can take some type of drug. Frustrating!!!!!

I don't really have a plan for today, sooo I guess i'll just put in what I can and update later if I need to.

Thurs 2/24/2011

B - Weetabix with almond milk + 1 small banana + 1 WW whole wheat bun with small serving of baked beans

L - Not sure. Probably make myself a sandwich with mock chicken, soy cheese, tomato, lettuce and veganaise + side salad of mixed greens and tomatoes

D - Got some time to cook today so i'm going to make some marinated tofu steaks, boy choy w/ shallots and a little soy sauce and some tomato flavoured couscous on the side.

Drinking: At least 2 cups green tea + At least 2L water

Exercise: Just back stretches today

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

Debbie--You are so sweet to be cheering me on. Thank you!

Lindsey, hey girl! Congrats on the new low! Doesn't that make you feel like you've accomplished something huge.. like your own Everest? LOL You sound super swamped, take care!

Larry, Hi!

Stacy, sorry that someone made you so upset that you'd consider not coming here. I completely agree, what works for one.. isn't necessarily going to work for another. People are at different stages in their life, different mind sets as to what they're willing to do for weight loss.. there are a whole lot of factors. But generally we can agree that you need to watch what you eat and try to get moving. I tend not to give advice because like you said, it isn't an exact science and what I know, may not work for someone else. I hope you continue to visit us!

Vixsin, wow! :cheer: What a good workout! It's reading posts like those makes me regret selling my treadmill. Good job.. keep up the great work!

Debbie, getting out to an exercise facility is hard sometimes.. if you have steps at home you can go up and down a few times, or videos are good too.

MzJuicy, love your comment about the new low hiding in there somewhere.. I feel exactly the same way! I really miss those days of getting a good whoosh.. watching the scale go down in increments requires so much patience! LOL But I guess it's heading in the right direction which counts!

Oh Lauren, so sorry to hear about your back issues. I know how crippling it feels. Take it easy.. I hope it heals real soon!

So, my aunt phones yesterday with what is suppose to be "the answer" to her prayers considering weight loss. Anyone hear of the HCG diet? It's a hormone that helps your body burn it's own fat, you lose (or in her words.. melt like butter in the sun) 1-2lbs a day. But you only consume 500 cals a day and no exercise. I said, ok yeah, sounds tempting but when your at your goal what have you learnt about maintaining??

Another question.. I'm thinking about getting a new phone.. a smart phone to be exact. According to my friends.. "getting with the times". Do any of you have one? What do you like? I'm between Blackberry Torch and iPhone 4.

Thanks!!

Larry: Glad you're feeling better today!!!

Berry: It's amazing how much sodium is in stuff, right??? I am always shocked by it. So glad that your DS is feeling better! Mine doesn't have the pukes but he's got a nasty respiratory cough. :(

Shells: The gym was AMAZING last night! Thank you for asking!!! When I left, I don't think my feet touched the ground, I was so proud of myself and flying so high. LOL I never thought I'd get excited over speed intervals on a treadmill. :dizzy: And yay for you starting school!!!!! When do you start? I have signed up and am waiting to hear back if I have been accepted or not. :crossed: And no worries about your post...I'm a hugger too!!!!    See?? LOL

Diana(LA): Thanks for the ranch recipe! I am going to have to try it!! I LOVE ranch dressing!!!!! I miss it very much! LOL

Debbie: Hi there! Glad to see you back! Missed ya!

MzJuicy: :crossed: Fingers crossed for your weigh in!!!!

Lauren: I hope your back feels better soon! I wish you luck for looking for a new Physio.

Tina: Hi! Good to see you! I wish you had sold ME your treadmill! Interesting call from your aunt, huh? I love the question you asked her!!!!! I have asked that same question to friends of mine that have the answer in this fad diet or that fad diet. NONE of which have maintained any weight loss, btw!! As far as phones go, I am on Sprint and have the flip blackberry looking thing. It's not bad. I am going to try a Rumor Touch once my charger gets to my house.

HI EVERYONE!! :D

Well my body decided to give me an early birthday present...I dropped ALL 5 pounds of that water weight last night. Yesterday morning...192...this morning...187. What is up with that? Bodies are so weird. And I also decided to measure myself. In the last month I've lost 8 total inches. So, I'm feeling a lot better. It's really hard when the weightloss stalls for a couple weeks and you gain. I suppose I'm learning now so in the future it'll be understandable when it happens.

On to personals....

Shells - I know how it feels to be overly hungry. But you are doing so well and so close to ONEDERLAND!!! YAY!! :carrot:

Lindsey - WOO HOO!! Congrats on your new low skinny minny!!!

Tina - Welcome back! We missed you! I used to have the blackberry storm and I really didn't like the blackberry. I've heard the Iphone is good so I would go with that. I have the HTC incredible...and it really is INCREDIBLE! I love it and have weightloss and exercise apps galore on it.

Vixsin - Way to go for that intense workout. I've been exercising for an hour - two hours now and I really feel good afterwards.

Stacy - I'm sorry about your problems in the other thread...BUT DON'T LEAVE US!!! We would miss you terribly!!

Lauren - Sorry about your back. Hope it feels better soon.

Just a quick pop in to say that I am listening to one of my co-workers educating another co-worker of mine on the ways of healthy eating and she keeps saying: "Just like Cari says...you should do (this) or (that). No, you don't have to exercise for hours everyday! Cari says that it's more about eating rather than exercising! Right Cari?"

BTW, my name is Cari.

I am so proud of my girls here at work!

I feel SO MUCH BETTER. I took a three hour nap this morning. I weigh a pound less and am much perkier. I don't think I slept well last night from worrying about two kids who didn't feel well.

ETA some personals:

Vixsin, you are going to turn into a true gym rat! Good for you!

Shells - you are SO CLOSE to that low the low on battery scale gave you. You are doing great - fighting the hungries and all! I am looking for a new Wii fitness fun thing too. Everyone says Dance 2 is really good. We'll see. I might go to Richard Simmons DVD first. He's been my fallback for over a decade!

Novelista - Woohoo!!!!! Holy cow! 8 inches and 5 lbs! You go girl!!!

MZJuicyD - Ooo that scale is flirting with you!

Diana3271 - Wow, are you getting uber close to this goal!

Andejean - shame on the snack bringer! But have fun with the phone!

Lindseylou - and look at you and that nice low number. Wanna trade? LOL

Larry - Sorry you weren't feeling very well yesterday. That stinks!

Stacygee - hugs to you. SOme people are just not very tactful.

Lauren - I'm sorry about your back too. When you can't move without pain, it makes everything so much more difficult. I have the scan gives you some better ideas of what you are dealing with.

Tina - doing it the old fashioned way is the best way. We all 'really' know that! And I'm an Iphone lover. My son just got the Iphone 4 (earned it for keeping his marks up!)

Abidabbi - Good luck with getting that thesis done. And yes, DH finally did get the PhD, but boy... tough stuff to be that hyper focused for so long.

Debbie - glad to see you back and raring to go!

Thanks for the well wishes girls.

My back is feeling a lot better today, I think working at home is easier on my back.

LadyL - I have heard about the HCG diet and I don't think you should trust anything that is going to make you take hormones and only eat 500cals a day, it just doesn't sound safe to me. Yes, you'll probably lose weight but maintenance is going to be ****... that's even if you can maintain after trying to eat normally again. Scary.

novel - great job losing that water weigh :cp:

vixsin - kudos to you, it's great to hear that your success is helping inspire others :D

berry - glad to hear you are feeling better and down a pound :D

Hey girls and Larry, just checking in to see how everyones doing. Seeing some good accomplishments here! Especially Novelista, wow, I want to be just like you 5 pounds in one day? Ooooh, and nice job on the inches lost! You are having an amazing birthday week! I am really happy for you!

Ladylai, we are an iphone family here. Love it!

Shells, I have almost bought wii dance 2 on a couple occasions. We have dance revolution for playstation, but somehow the playstation made it's way up the my sons bedroom so its not very convenient. The wii is in the family room, so I may have to get it. We have some best buy gift certificates we haven't used yet, so that may be a good use of them. Is there a pad like the others, or do you hold the controllers, how does it work?

Stacy, don't leave me! I need you! I totally relate to you and your exercise regimen and just your general plan. I saw in two different threads what probably ticked you off and I think I would be ticked too, but I think some people just don't know how to give their opinions without sounding harsh, especially when they are different than yours.

Debbie, 1600 sounds like a good day to me!

Larry, I would be starving on so few calories!

Vixsin, way to go on the killer workout!

Got my workout in, but just weights so far, got interrupted on the treadmill and decided to call it quits. My heart is not much into this program today, and I am super hungry! I've already had 1100 calories! Going to be a very light dinner tonight I guess. Just hanging out, trying to keep my chin up.

Thanks everyone!

LindseyLou: I did the Turbo Fire program last year when it first came out. I started with Turbo Jam. I liked Turbo Fire at first, but then I got tired of Chalene (the blond chick) and working out indoors. Although Chalene is really motivating, I found myself wishing she'd just be quiet, so I could get through the workout. I definitely needed a change. This week is the first time I've done Turbo fire since October.

Hey everyone! Just got home from work and I must say, you guys are firing me up for my workout tonight! Yesterday was a pretty good day. It was my workout day of rest, so I was just trying to stick to my 1400 cal. I was doing very well until after dinner, when I learned something VERY important for me.

Low fat chocolate frozen yogurt is absolutely no substitute for actual ice cream for me. It did nothing for me, and I ended up following it up with some actual chocolate, which put me 80 calories over. Lesson learned!

I had my normal 260 cal breakfast, and missed morning snack today. 400 cal lunch, and when I got home from work I ate some carrot sticks (trying to boost my veggies!) and 2 cups of plain, air popped popcorn. You know, I really don't miss the super butter microwave stuff. I thought I would. That substitution was an easy one to make.

I just want to see the scale move, darn it!

Tina--I've heard only bad things about the HCG diet. Someone told me that Dr. Oz did a segment on it just recently. I don't know if that'll help at all? And, yes, my TOM is coming up soon. That's probably what's causing this eating craze. And my will power is oh-so-weak.

Vixsin--Woohoo! We can be college chicks together. ;) I'd start in the summer.

NOVEL!! That's is awesome!!!!! :woohoo:

Berry--I'm glad you got some sleep. I worry about my kids at night, too and it keeps me up.

Lauren--I'm glad your back is giving you a bit of a break.

jomatho--You just need the Wii controller and that's it! Not even the nunchuck. :)

Kids are home...be back later!! (hopefully)

Lauren - Me too!

Tina - Thanks! Yes, it's awesome feeling! :carrot: I agree with Lauren, it doesn't sound healthy! I think any of those pills or whatever aren't a great idea. There is no quick fix to weight loss. And like Lauren mentioned (something I've always wondered) what happens once you lose the weight and now it's time for maintenance? When I first moved here I met one of DH's co-worker's wives, she was going on and on about this weight loss pill and that she lost 30 pounds in a matter of months and still eats pizza and junk, BUT she was noticing her heart was racing all the time (didn't tell her doctor so the doctor would renew her Rx). Didn't sound worth it to me. Plus, she's off it now and has gained some weight back. :o

Vixsin - Thank you! That is funny about your co-worker!

Novel - Woo hoo, glad that water weight skidaddled! :D I know how annoying that is. Thank you btw.

Berry - Thank you! :D Yay for the loss! :carrot:

Kyra - You wish she'd be quiet! I get bored of workouts (anything really, right down to my haircolor) very easily so I couldn't do one of those 90 days programs or something. And months and months with the blonde chick...I dunno. What are you planning on trying?

Still - Have a great workout! What are you planning tonight?

Ok, don't laugh - I changed my goal weight, again for the 120987324 time. BUT, after seeing this blog it got me thinking...why am I trying to lose these last few pounds? To fit into a size 4? Is it that big of a deal? SO, I'm going to focus on toning and get slimmer that way and maintain around 140 (no more than). Here is the blog: http://curveappeal.tumblr.com/ These woman are beautiful and they have curves, I love it! It definitely got me thinking about why I wanted to get down to 130/135. The point of me wanting to lose weight was to get healthy, and I think I'm there. My cholesterol and BP are spot on. I can exercise without dying. I'm in a healthy weight range. So, I've come to the conclusion the pounds I wanted to lose are vanity pounds. Actually - never thought I'd say this - I like my body. :D Sorry, I'm rambling...:dizzy:

Yesterday was on track to be good. If I hadn't gone crazy and eaten a whole jar of peanut butter, I would probably be under 126 lbs this morning. Instead I'm 127.9 and feeling gross.

It seems all the forces of god and nature and science and psychology are against me staying under 128 pounds for any length of time. I had my first binge quite soon after dipping below 128 and whenever I get below that point, I self-sabotage.

It's not my "ideal" weight - I have a lot of extra fat everywhere and my face definition could be a lot better. My wrists are 5.1 inches. That's a super small frame.

Anyone else have a "magic number" that gets them every time? ***sigh***

Hi Everyone!

Andejean Congrats on the .75 pound loss. I hope you are not getting sick. There is so much of that mess being passed around.

Lady Welcome Back! Congrats on the positive comments about your weight loss. I am totally not with the times. Would you believe my phone doesn't even have a camera on it? That's how I wanted it though. ;)

Abidabbi Hi

Berry I'm glad the little one is feeling better.

Shells You've pushed your calories to 1600 but you are still losing? Maybe your body wants you to eat more calories. Any thoughts? Congrats on the Just Dance 2. Sounds fun.

Lindsey Congrats on the .6 and new low! I asked DH if I am still curvy and he said yes. I think it's because how I carry my weight. I am smaller at the top though. I asked DH to compare my size to some of the waitresses at the restaurant tonight. (That's a way to get him in trouble, right? ;)) I never would have considered myself muscular. He said that my arms are more muscular than theirs. I don't do a lot of toning/ sculpting workouts, but I do them consistently every week. I posted this link about what other people look like at the weight you want to be. I don't know if you saw it. You can filter by by shape, (pear, apple, etc), height, and weight. It will give you an idea of what other people look like at 5'4" and 140 pounds. http://www.mybodygallery.com/index.html Did you and your Dr. discuss your weight when you were there last? Did they have a recommendation?

Larry Hi

Vixsin Congrats on getting such a great workout in! You have been a positive influence at work!

Debbie I vote for getting to the community center. That sounds like a great opportunity!

MsjuicyD Great job on the menu and workout!

Lauren Were you able to find a new Physio to go to?

Novelista Congrats on getting rid of the water weight! That stuff is evil.

Jomatho Hi  Yay, on getting the workout in!

Kyra Hi! I think the 3 instructors that talk the most are Leslie Sansone, Billy Blanks, and Chalene Johnson.

Still It will move. Give it time. You are on the right track.

LLBoldAsLove Hi  Great job on just eating 2 tb peanut butter. I can't do that.

Had a good day, I just hope the scale feels it too. LOL! Thursday nights are my TV night.. The Big Bang Theory, Greys Annatomy and Private Practice adds up to 2 1/2hrs. of sitting on my derrière. Ahhhh.. glorious! :D

Vixsin, I know as well as fad dieting that sometimes our honest efforts in trying to lose weight fail in the long run too. Which is the attitude I get from my grandmother, she often asks why bother? Great support there.. LOL! But I feel different this time.. I'm thinking more in the long run scheme of things and trying to plan ahead for how I'll handle getting to my goal and maintaining it. I'm so over trying to fast forward to a skinnier me. Wish all those fad diet followers would see it the same too.. aka some of my family. ;) Sounds like you are quite the positive influence around the office.. Cari. :) You must of been beaming!

Breanne, what a good whoosh!! Congrats! Thanks for the welcome back!

Berry, that 3hr nap sounds so good! Glad it helped.

Lauren, agreed two fold! :) How was your back throughout the day?

Jomatho, hope you kept that chin up high! You have done so well.. can't wait to be where you are!

Kyra, Hi!

Still, hang in there from one chocoholic to another. Although, I do like anything chocolate to satisfy the craving. I've even stooped to dipping a couple of pecans in Nutella.. LOL!

Shells, yeah the Dr. Oz show is what peaked her interest. I can't believe he had it on his show. I don't catch his show most of the time, but from what I do know of Dr. Oz I thought he was more health conscience than that.

Lindsey, that diet sounds a lot like the Proenzi 99 craze that happened a while back. They had to take it off the market because it had Ephedrine in it, which made so many ppl complain of heart palpatations and racing. They since put it back on the market without ephedrine in it.. but then ppl said it didn't work the same. Duh! Is it really worth it? I love, love, LOVE that you are happy with your body now.. not only is it healthy for your body but your mind also!

LLBold, great plan!

krampus, I feel your pain. Stay strong and keep plugging along.

Diana, I don't think there is ever a way to keep up with the times with as fast as technology changes! LOL Thanks for the welcome back!

Tina--Oh, I'm sorry! I've never seen Dr. Oz, but a friend was telling me he was against the diet. I guess I should have researched it some more. :o

Diana--1600 was one of my highest. I've been averaging 1300/1400. I have wondered if I fight to keep my calories too low. I've been preaching to myself a lot lately to just relax and enjoy the journey. I stress so much over every pound gained or lost that, if I'm not careful, it consumes me. I want to have a healthier lifestyle not only physically, but mentally, too. I'm going to try to relax more. TRY being the optimal word. ;) I appreciate you being there for me, cheering me along the way and offering advice. Thank you.

Krampus--Aw, I'm sorry you're feeling down. I think you're doing a great job and you're so pretty! I have to admit, peanut butter tends to be my weakness, too.

LLBold - was this weigh-in at night a routine thing or was it something new?

A really smart guy who's a body builder told me that you should weigh yourself at the same time, with the same variables in place. For example, I weigh myself only in my undies, after I've been to the restroom, right after I've woken up in the morning. I only weigh myself once a week, so I do it on the same day of the week. It's important to keep the variables the same in order to get an accurate weight count.

Ps: I wish I was your weight!

well today i am completely upset with myself. I really wanted to get to 263 which would bring my total weight loss to 30 pounds. Now I knew that since i weighed in a 266.6 last week, reaching 263 would be difficult. I got up this morning and was about to go to the gym, but before i got dressed i weighed in. Scale said 267.2. My heart dropped and I got sooooo upset! I wanted to At Least seen 265 but I didnt.

After I saw that number I just put my pjs back on and went back to bed. Wasnt in the mood to go to the gym anymore. In fact, im going to take this weekend off. This whole process is so anxiety filled because im constantly worrying if im eating the right foods and doing enough exercise. It has completely consumed my life and its getting annoying right now. I was suppose to go shopping today for new work clothes but I dont even feel like doing that anymore. I got ready for work this morning and i feel like I look so disgusting. I can't wait till my shift is over so I can go home and crawl into bed.

Krampus... 126/127 is definitely my number my body doesn't want to seem to go under... I've been trying FOREVER to see 125 even! Sorry about the peanut butter, but read below and you might feel a little better. :-(

Still Awesome... It was unusual, but my morning weigh-ins have been 126/127 regardless. Meaning I've lost only 2.5-3.5 lbs in the last 6 weeks! Losing 9lbs (138ish-129.5) in the fall was so easy!

Anyways... I completely fell off the wagon last night. After having my yummy healthy egg-white omelet, I had a TOM hormonal attack and proceed to eat a box of chocolates my roommate got me while watching Grey's Anatomy. Part of the reason was also because I'm stressing because flights to Italy went up $200 the DAY before we were supposed to buy them! My aunt thinks its a temporary bubble because of the gas crisis. But, regardless, it pushed me from 1200 cals to 1800ish in one sitting. :-( Really angry with myself!

But, today's a new day. I just had some tea and a protein bar. I'm going to sit at home all day and begin my paper, and go work out hard later this afternoon. And eat on-plan!

MzJuicyD Sometimes we have those weeks. Pick yourself up and keep going. What will happen if you stop? The food changes you have made, are they sustainable for the rest of your life? Try to find a way of eating that you are comfortable with, long term. Back when I first started, this time ;), it took me from June to November to lose 5 or 6 pounds. I don't remember the exact number. It was well under 10 pounds. Talk about disheartening and discouraging! I kept going though. It's tough, but well worth it! Look how much weight you have lost so far! I know you can do this.

Krampus: PB and I go WAAAY back too. I've been there with the spoon and jar many times too. I feel your pain. I hope you bounce right back. You really have come too far. We all slip. I always admire how you can talk it out and get right back on and fight the good fight. Please don't be afraid. I bet you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. :) Hang in there!

Shells: I think Diana has a really good point about the calories. I know when I upped my cals a little bit, it really helped to spark up my losses. And you have been exercising like a mad woman! ;) I bet if you up them a pinch, you'll get a huge whoosh. And a HUGE congrats to you for the positive self-talk!!!!! Enjoying this journey is really what it's all about, isn't it? Thanks for reminding me of that too today.

Abidabbi: You are on target! Great job! Good luck with your teaching!!! Let us know how it goes!

Larry: Great job today! Way to stay on plan.

30FatStillAwesome: Welcome aboard!!! :welcome3: I agree with your body builder friend to a point. Personally, like many others, I weigh daily. I enjoy learning about the fluctuations that my weight does. It's great to learn what works best for you. I look forward to getting to know you!

Berry: Congrats on your new low!

Jomatho: Congrats on your new low!!!

Diana(LA): Congrats on your new low too!!!

(WOW! Lots of new lows today!!!!!! That's amazing!)

MzJuicy: Hang in there, my friend! I'm sure it's just a pesky fluctuation. Please don't give up. You're doing a great job. Please stay strong and fight on!!!

And as for me....I am down .6 to 207.4

Huge NSV's today already! I feel thinner today. I just generally feel smaller. Is that weird? LOL The jeans I'm wearing have never been this loose. I am wearing a belt for the first time in at least 5 years. I tried on a pair of pants this morning that were far too tight when I bought them and now were too big. I have to give them away and will have never worn them. Wow.

Today is a day for me to be in awe of this journey. That has been happening alot. I am coming to the threshhold of going farther in my weight loss journey than I ever have before. I guess that's why I am reflecting on things so much. Oh well, I'm glad that I can do it here with you guys. I know that you all understand the thoughts and feelings that I am having.

Thanks for that!!!

Juicy, darn scales, you either love em or hate em. I'm sorry yours wasn't kind to you today, but that does not mean you gained that weight. It is probably just a normal water fluctuation, but I know how depressing it can be. My scale finally moved again today after 7 days of exactly the same number and the the few days before that is was bouncing around there. I guess what I am trying to say, is now today I am soooooooo grateful I did not give up, that I had faith in my plan and in myself. I question what I am doing all the time too. Am I drinking enough water, am I eating to many/too little calories, am I exercising enough/too much, do I get enough sleep, on and on and on. I figure my choice is to be fat or to stay on plan, I choose on plan, the best plan for me. Stick with it, I promise you will be rewarded for your efforts.

krampus, I get that way with peanutbutter, also, even though I get the organic, no-added-sugar stuff. It's too good to pass up and I always forget how many calories even a small amount packs. :/ When I was little, I used to just sit on the floor, eating it straight from the jar with a butter knife.

jomatho--Congratulations on the new low! :yay: That's awesome.

MzJuicyD, do not let the number on the scale run your life! Yes, it's of course very frustrating not to go down when you expected to, but the body's a mysterious thing. You could be doing everything right and it still might be holding on to water weight or a number of other things. Regardless of what the scale says, the lifestyle you are living is a million times better than not making any effort at all. Furthermore, you WILL see results and you WILL be happy with your progress. I mean, personally, I have only lost 5 pounds, according to my monthly weigh-ins. I would be so discouraged if that was the only thing I paid attention to, but guess what? I've gone down a whole jean size. My old clothes are getting very loose on me. Those little things are a great motivation, way more than the scale. Regardless, you still want to lose weight, right? Crawling into bed won't make that happen...though I totally know how tempting that is. Everyone needs a day off sometimes, but just don't give up entirely. It's going to happen for you.

Okay, sorry for the super long pep talk. I actually came on to mention that I went on a date last night and to complain about RESTAURANTS and how they manage to stick 1000 calories in a little pasta dish. I know, I know, I should have looked up calories before going, planned out a more vegetable-based meal, that kind of thing. Poor planning on my part. I had a good time, and the food was delicious for sure, but I am frustrated to have gone about 500 calories over maintenance yesterday. Since I've already been just under maintenance this whole week, due to being sick and overeating and not exercising and excuses, excuses, etc., I feel like I am doomed to lose one, maybe two pounds the whole of February. This is better than nothing, but it's sooooo painfully slow. I wanted to wear a bikini this summer :(

Add me to the happy loss club, because I came in at 201.4 this morning!!! :goodscale:yay: Tom should be here soon, so I'm prepared for the bounce and will hold on to this happy feeling.

Eurydice--I hate that about restaurants, too! At once place, almost all of their salads were clocking in at over 1000 calories. I couldn't believe it! For a salad!! You will get there. I've had a month were I lost only one or two pounds and I know how frustrating that feels.

Vixsin--Amazing! Congrats on the loss and the NSV!! You're rockin' it girl! :carrot:

MzJuicyD--Stupid scale! :rollpin: I can totally relate to how you're feeling! I've had many weigh-ins like that and have been reduced to a puddle. I try to remind myself that the scale doesn't define me and look how far I've come. You've lost 27lbs! That's awesome!!

Diana(LA)--Wow, what a great feeling. Getting to a low you haven't been at in 15 years?? Wow!! :woohoo:

jomatho--Doing the dance for you!! :dancer: Goodbye 205.4!!

Berry--Amazing! Yay for a new low!! :woohoo:

Diana--Me, too! I love weekends!

Krampus--I'm with you on that one...I'm afraid to try. But, I guess, if I think about it logically, I'm not going to maintain or gain at 1600 calories at my weight. And at least you're eating the right peanut butter. I'm still addicted to Jiffy. :^:

Abi--Great job on your paper! :book2:

Larry--You had a great OP day! :sunny:

MzJuicyD You are exactly where I was last week.....talk about depressing!!! But you gotta hold on, sweety!! It's gonna happen, girl!! I discovered last week that I was actually eating TOO LITTLE and it was holding up my progress! I had dwindled my calories to 1166/day! TOO LOW! And the scales had stalled....completely! You need to try to tweek some things and try to figure it out.....do ya some research and be proactive....don't just bow down to what you are percieving as a failure....all that will make you is a failure, which you are NOT! A failure doesn't purposefully lose 27 lbs!! Only a successful person can do that! Sorry to be blunt.....but if you're like me, blunt works well! We care about you girl and your success is just as important to us as our own is. Please don't quit.....be the success that you are, not the statistic everyone else (who hasn't been a success at this journey) wants you to be!!

Got tons to do today! BBL when I get a chance!

Down to 207.8 today! Haven't been below 210 in nearly 7 years!

LindseyLou: I get bored easily as well. I like hiking, but that only works if the weather cooperates. I have no idea what I'm going to do next. I have an elliptical, but after doing intense exercise, it just doesn't seem challenging enough. Yesterday was my last day of the Turbo Fire 5-day Inferno plan, and there's no way I'm doing the Turbo Fire 12-week schedule again anytime soon.

Anyone have any ideas? How are those Wii workouts?

Diana3271: Have you tried any of the other Beachbody workouts? I've done Insanity before, but it's too intense to do the entire program-- at least for me.

Shells: Congrats on the loss. You are getting so close to onederland!! :D:carrot:

Abidabbi: Congrats on keeping to 1200 cal

Krampus: I love peanut butter also I just have not been willing lately to spend part of my daily calories on it.

30 Fat Still Awesome: Hi

Diana3271: hope you have a great weekend!

Berry: Big way to go girl on your new low and getting out of the 240's!! :carrot::carrot:

Jomatho: Congrats on your loss, You are getting close to onederland!! :D:carrot:

Diana in LA: A fifteen year low!! :carrot: Wow :D:D that's really something to cheer about!!:carrot:

MzJuicyD: Don't quit now. Remember "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" YOU CAN DO IT!!

LLBoldAsLove87: Don't be too hard on your self. The Japenese have a saying "Fall down seven times, get up eight" You can't change history but you can change the future.

Vixsin: What a great problem to have. Giving away clothes that once were too tight and now are too big never having worn them. Congrats on your loss. :D:D

Eurydice: It is hard to eat out and stay on plan! Keep trying and it will happen,

Add me to the weight loss crowd, I dropped another pound down to 274 now. Wahoo!! :carrot:

My exercise today was putting in a garden. It's 82 degrees and mostly sunny today. I am saving calories today as we are going out to a fundraising fish fry and I am a little concerned about high calorie foods. When I eat fish out I try to order baked or broiled, If that is not possible then I peel the batter or breading off of the fish and only eat the flesh. This helps to cut a lot of calories but fried fish still absorbs some of the oil. I am doing the best I can and trying to make good choices a habit.

Kyra - Yeah 12 weeks would be killer, especially if the chick is annoying. I would do whatever you find fun. I haven't done the wii workouts in forever...?

Larry, we have a guy that works in our shop (machine shop) that is 50-ish and has just been told he has high cholesterol, high BP and on the verge of a heart attack if he doesn't lose some weight. I've been trying to encourage him a lot. Today, I was talking to him and he was telling me the dr. had told him to lose a lb/week and come back in 3 months. He was telling me he didn't think it was possible. Soooooo, I told him about you and your success. He was astounded and it gave him a lot of hope! So thank you for being an inspiration....in ways that you're not even aware of! :) You are inspiring people all the way in Louisiana (besides me, that is! lol)

Hi All,

Just dropping in quickly to say hi.

So last night I had another bout of back pain. I talked to a friend who is a physio and she said that I should stop seeing any physio, even a new one, right away as it is just making things worse. She said that I need time to allow my back to rest and heal so that is what I am going to do. I have to take the meds my Dr. prescribed 2x daily every day for at least week, no matter whether there is pain or not, and I need to do light cardio every single day. Thew meds will allow we to exercise without pain and decrease any inflammation and also let me sleep and the exercise will increase blood flow to heal heal my back. So that's the plan and I am keeping my fingers corssed that it works!!!!! :crossed:

My plan today is just like the last few days, very un-certain, unfortunately the meds make my stomach feel a little upset and they also make me feel bloated so food is not really my top priority right now. Here is how it looks so far, not bad considering.

Fri 2/25/2011

B - 1 WW whole wheat thin bun w/ natural PB and organic bluberry jam + 1 small banana + 1 choc.vanilla soy pudding

L - Veggie sandwich on multigrain bread + handful of fries

S - A couple of dry-roasted cashews and a few bites of an apple

D - Not sure yet

Drinking: At least 2L water + 1 pepsi

Exercise: 30min walk with the dog

Have a happy, healthy and OP day and weekend

Well, obviously yesterday I was a little overly sensitive. I am very sensitive and thin-skinned and always have been. I really can’t stay away from here. I wanted to tell ya’ll about my shopping trip yesterday. Then I wanted to tell ya’ll how I went off plan and my body retaliated.

Then I read the posts and I wanted to tell Jo and DianaLA and Shells WAY TO GO! And I wanted to tell LLBOld it was okay to mess up last night… I did too! I wanted to tell Larry that I wished I had the gumption to put in a garden. I wanted to tell Lauren that I am so sorry her back hurts. I know how miserable that is and I am truly sorry. DianaLa’s message to MzJuicy was so sweet and uplifting. Like you could READ her caring through the computer screen. I wanted to tell Eurydice how I went to a restaurant and ordered plain grilled shrimp and veggies and they threw some sauce on them that probably added 500 calories. Frustrating. I wanted to tell Vixsin I love those days that I wake up feeling thinner. And congrats on the new pants.

So anyway- I stayed a way for just over 24 hours and feel bad I got my feelings hurt... but this little thread right here is the best spot on the internet and I appreciate so much all the support I get from all of you and I just hope that I give each one of you just a little bit of help along this very hard journey we are sharing together.

Holy Cow!! I just returned from eating out and I read this. Thank you so much Diana for posting it. This has made today a great day for me to think that in some small way I may be giving hope and encouragement to others. The same hope and encouragement by the way that has been so freely given to me by the wonderful people on this thread. I feel like the boy in that movie who was asking people to "PAY IT FORWARD"

Diana(LA) Congrats on the new low!

Vixsin Congrats on the NSV! That's an awesome feeling.

Eurydice At least you enjoyed the date. The next time you can plan a little differently.

Shells Great job! You are so close now!

Kyra Congrats on your weigh in. I have tried tried Project You, HHA's, Rockin' Abs, TJ, and TF. My favorite is TF. I don't think I would like Intensity because they go to the floor and I don't do that. I workout in my office, so getting on the floor would be a problem.

Hey guys!

Did not get my paper done, but my goal is to have it done by Sunday so that's okay. I got 4 of the 10 pages. Pretty slow going.

Bad news... something is definitely up with my ankles, I had to stop running on the treadmill and switch to the bike. I dont know if it was pushing myself up to speed 9 on the treadmill or what, but my ankles hurt. :-( I think I'm going to either do bike or exercise videos for a week, then see if I can run again.

Good news... saw a recipe for "protein pancakes" on here, and I made them tonight and they were delicious! They are made with cottage cheese mainly, and like 1/3 cup flour... I used organic whole grain flour. They were AWESOME.

Staceygee... I'm glad youre back!

Good evening all! Well, I've spent most of the day (most is a little exaggeration..hehe) getting aquainted with my new iPhone 4. It really is a lot of tedious work inputing all your contact info again. ;) Other than that had a really good OP day.

Breakfast: Mushroom and Cheese Omelet (300 cals)
Lunch: Turkey Crisp (pretty much turkey on rye crisp bread) w/cream chz. (400 cals)
Snack: Trail Mix (200 cals)
Dinner: Chicken Fajita (400 cals)
Snack: After Eight Smoothie (200 cals)

Shells, so what do you have up your sleeve for the Oscars dinner coming up on Sunday? LOL Congrats on your low! :cheer:

Krampus, finding balance is key! Keep up that great mindset!

30FatStill, I weigh the same way as yourself. First thing in the morning right after going "to the restroom", but I do it everyday! ;)

Berry, congrats on the new low!! :cheer:

Jomatho, :cheer: for you too! Woo Hoo!

Diana(LA), I have been wondering about your big move. Did you buy a new house? Congrats on your new low too! :cheer:

MzJuicy, I've been in your shoes too many times. The last time I was on this journey I hit a rut.. things really slowed down.. like cold molasses running up hill. It got so discouraging that I ended up gaining almost everything back. When I reached those high weights again all I could do was kick myself over and over wondering why I couldn't be satisfied to wait it out. Don't make the same regrets.. just pick yourself up day after day, because good things are happening each day you decide you're worth it even if the scale isn't reflecting it.

LLBold, so jealous of your upcoming Italy trip. I love to travel!

Vixsin, congrats on your .6! :cheer: Feeling thinner is an awesome euphoria to be in!!

Eurydice, woooo a date!! How fun! Everytime I eat out I feel the same way.. I don't understand how they can load so many calories in a little dish. Sometimes they equal a pound of fat in fat grams too! Disgusting.

Kyra, looking forward to getting where you are! Congrats!!

Lauren, I sure hope the back feels better real soon.. good advice rest up!

Oh my goodness gals and fella - I am a super duper whimp. I walked 4.5 miles (1.5 on the treadmill, 3 with walk it out Wii game) and I can do 3.0 miles per hour and my heart is going 140 bpm. And this is after exercising for 7 weeks! Then, today I decided to start doing push-ups and sit-ups. 15 push-ups was it girly style) and 25 sit-ups. Now, I haven't done either of these for over a decade, but wow, just WOW in how unfit a person can become!

Good Morning, my friends.

Shells: Hope your head is better!

Diana: Why am I up so early, too? and I took Ambien! Oh- well. I'll enjoy a nice cup of coffee, catching up here and I think I'll go scrapbook before the three year old terror wakes up!

Berry: I think you did great. I After 7 weeks I couldn't do 15 push ups and certainly not 25 sit ups. One day all of a sudden you will go faster. When I started at 264 pounds on the treadmill Fast was 2.8. Now I start at 3.5. It'll come. Be proud of your effort.

I FINALLY saw 190 on the scale this morning. Oh I am going to work super duper hard to make sure it stays! Maybe next week I'll be in the 180s! I go to the gym at 8:30 and warmup and do sits up, then I spin from 9-9:45 then I lift weights for 30 minutes. I am also adding 10 minutes on that big stairclimber... it looks like an escalator. I want to add that in to my workout not sure if it'll be everyday or every other day yet. Planning protein shake for breakfast, protein bar for lunch and turkey chili for dinner.

Morning y'all! :coffee:

I had a really restless night and yesterday's food was filled with sodium. I had no idea until I added it up last night. It was over 4,000mg! :fr: My poor Meniere's is going to go whacky. I need to be so much more careful with that. Luckily, the scale was only .4 up. I thought it would be much much worse.

Diana--I was up at 4am, so I'm right there with you. :faint: TOM is right around the corner here, too.

Stacy--It is better, thanks. I had a whopper of a headache last night, though. Yay for reaching 190!! :carrot:

Tina--Why, yes, I do have a menu already. ;) Appetizer: Crispy Cinnamon Garbanzo Beans, Salad: Antipasto Salad, Entree: Poblano and Mushroom Tacos, Dessert: Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Banana Bites. When can I expect you? :D Did you guys end up seeing a movie?

Berry--I don't think you sound like a wimp at all. You're doing great! :cheer:

Have a wonderful weekend! We had another foot of snow, so we'll be staying home most of the day.

Good morning, everyone! Holy cow, so many of you guys had losses this week! Congrats! Add me to the loss list, I weighed myself this morning and saw 180! I about hit the floor. I'm not actually going to take the 180 to heart yet, I want to see it again tomorrow. But wow, was it good to see it, even if its only for today.

I feel so good about how I've been doing. Last night was Family Movie Night at work, and they had those hot n ready pizzas. Of course, people brought chips and cookies and goodies to share. I brought fruit. :-) And I was so proud of myself, because instead of giving myself a pass and eating all the cookies, candy and chips, I kept getting fruit instead.

Now next week is going to change things, I'm certain. I'm getting my thyroid irradiated this month, and Monday and Tuesday I'll be out of town both days almost full days for testing on my thyroid and heart. That means I'll most likely be eating out at least some of the time. Also, my DH is going to be in San Antonio, so if my son doesn't want to go to the "kid's gym" (tot watch at the Y), I'm going to have a harder time getting workouts in. I've had almost a month to get used to my new WOE while things at home were easy, now let see how I do when life gets harder/more stressful.

Wish me luck!

Add me to the "up way too early on a weekend list". Eyes wide open at 6:25 this morning. I spent my quiet hours searching the kindle store for some good books for vacation. Any suggestions? I haven't bought any yet, but have some ideas.
Just had my mushroom, onion, spinach and egg scramble with the leftover veggies from last nights pita pizzas, yum!
Finished the day yesterday with 1615 calories and the day before was 1800. I may have to try to get a lower (1200-1300) day in here today or tomorrow. Weight is still 203.6, so I am thrilled that it stayed! We will see what TOM brings next week though; I am prepared for a blip.
Still, hang on tight when life gets tougher/busy, just try to stay on plan the best you can! :yay: for seeing 180 today!
Shells, I think that fridge was trying to tell you something , you must have really hit it hard, hope it feels better today. Very interested in your crispy cinnamon garbanzo beans! I love to make roasted garbanzos, but usually do savory ones, although the last time I made them, they were so hard it was like trying to chew popcorn kernals and had to throw them all out. A little too low and slow in the oven I guess.
Stacy, :yay: for 190. Turkey chili sounds good.
Diana3271, way to go doubling up on those workouts! Hope sleep comes to you easily tonight.
Berry, a whimp wouldn't have done your workout! Keep it up!
Lady, glad you're enjoying your new iphone4! My DH loves the loseit app for logging food, exerise, tracking weight, and just for tracking weight, seeing graphs of loss the weightbot app is too cool.
Lauren, rest up!
Vixsin, :yay: for the pants you never wore!
Kyra, :yay: for the new low in 10 years, that's amazing!
Larry, :yay: for another pound down! Keep on truckin!
LLbold, rest those ankles! Protien pancakes sound good! My problem is I like peanut butter and sugar on my pancakes. Tastes like a really big soft chewy warm cookie. I think I sould stay away from pancakes huh?
Juicy, hope you find yourself in better spirits today. When the going gets tough, the tough get going!
Lindsey, there is nothing lame about 145! Work it girl!

Hey guys!

Stacey ... Congrats on 190! I'm sure 18X will be just around the corner!

Still... great willpower! I'm terrible at social events with an array of food, I'm always like "mmm a bite of this, it would be rude not to..."

Berry... You are NOT a wimp! You got up and were active, thats more than a lot of people can say.

Jomatho... Pita pizzas? Did I miss this? Sounds lovely, share the recipe! and I love PB on my pancakes too... maybe I should try some PB2 with it!

-------

Anyways, I'm so mad at myself for messing up my ankles. I guess I've been doing HIIT too often. I'm hoping it warms up a little more so I can go on long walks outside as part of my daily workout, until my ankles recover.

I'm probably not getting much done on my paper today. My sister called about half an hour ago wanting to take the baby, and our pups to the park, lunch, and then TJMaxx (leaving the pups at home). I SHOULD be writing this paper but I can't say no to seeing my little niece and my sister. I'm going to a concert tonight, so it looks like tomorrow will have to be SUPER productive.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. :-)

EDIT: I almost forgot... I was on plan yesterday but I woke up at 4:30am STARVING. So I had a bowl of cereal, watched an episode of friends, and fell back asleep. Not hungry for breakfast now. Does that count as extra (off plan) food yesterday, or just today's breakfast? lol.

LLbold, not really a recipe, just use a pita as your pizza crust, quick, easy and healthy. I use the whole wheat ones, put a little sauce, sauteed veggies, cheese of choice, bake on top rack and enjoy. The thinner the pitas the better, some of them are thicker and are good, but I like the thin ones that get a little crispy. You could split them, but I just use them whole, about 300-400 cals per pizza depending on what you put on them. They also make mini pitas now, about the size of an english muffin, those are fun too. My kids love pita pizzas, course theirs have cheese and pepperoni. HTH

LLBoldAsLove, I can relate to both paper and ankle woes. :( I have perpetually weak ankles, so easy to mess up. Take it easy, you can get back on track later.

still, I had the same issue a couple weeks ago in that I'd gotten used to my plan during a low-key, easy month, and then life goes and gets hard. You can do it! The hardest part is just being able to remember your plan and your goals when you've got other, more pressing issues on your mind.

Diana, I'm sorry that your sleep is being affected right now. I hope it gets back on track soon, I know how much of a difference it can make to miss out on a few hours.

berryblondeboys, I'm right there with you. These past few years I've been gaining weight, I've taken it for granted that I'm still in shape, that the weight means nothing to my fitness level. Well, of course that's nonsense. I used to be able to do like ten regular push ups. Doesn't seem like much, but considering I didn't weight train or anything. Now I can barely do one because of the extra weight and the extra couch potato time. Anyway, I guess it's always good to get a wake up call sometimes?

Vixsin, GREAT NSV! Sucks you never got to wear the pants, though  but I'm sure the feeling of out-shrinking them is a lot more satisfying.
--
Okay, so speaking of wake-up calls, I realize I need to quit kidding myself. I was kidding myself most of yesterday. "What, cookies for dinner? Well, it's okay because I'm hungry and a healthy meal would probably equal the same number of calories. :nose: Cheese doesn't have any calories, right? So I can eat three pieces instead of a piece of fruit? :cheese: :cheese: :cheese: It's okay, I'll eat the fruit later. :nose: No, really, I will. :nose:" And then I act all surprised when I'm 300 calories over maintenance.

I was doing so well in January partly because there weren't food temptations constantly around me. I was making my meals, not getting them from the school cafeteria. In order to go back to that, I need to sacrifice some convenience.

I'm still proud of myself for not binging, but I've gotten frighteningly close the past couple days. I think it has more to do with my moods, but this isn't the thread to talking about that.

If I don't feel too sick as the day progresses, I'm going to try to make it to the gym. If I don't get there, I'm going tomorrow. No more kidding myself or trying to convince myself that I can do this without any effort involved. Gotta build my strength! :wl:
--
Anyway, pardon the pep talks I always seem to give myself coming here. And my abuse of emoticons. I'm off to get a (healthy!) breakfast and some wonderful, wonderful coffee :coffee2:

I'm trying to decide whether to change ticker or not this morning. Yesterday morning, I weighed in gown at 214.6. This morning, I weighed in blue jean shorts and a t shirt at 214.2, but then changed into jeans (which I usually weigh in when I count my weight for ticker) and I weighed 214.6....To change or not to change? First time seeing this weight dressed. Opinions?

Okay, so I moved ticker to 215 because I feel safe there....like I won't go back above that....and that reaches my first mini goal. :yay: So I've changed my signature to reflect what all that means....and it has given my soooooo much inspiration (is it bad to inspire yourself? ) This next goal is the goal to get me to onederland!!!! OMG!! That is a freakin' big deal for me ya'll!! I know, I still have several months to get there, but STILL....I'm in the stretch that will get me there!! That is amazing!!

DianaLa, glad you changed your ticker! Give yourself credit where credit is due! I had to laugh because I always weigh myself as naked as I can, usually just undies. I would be 2 pounds heavier fully clothed! Like when I weigh in on the wii! Congrats on the new low, again!

Berry, glad it wasn't a blip, keep up the good work.

Eury, go ahead and pep talk all you want, we all benefit! I personally love the emoticons, just don't always have time to insert them. Try to get to the gym if you can, you will feel so good, unless you are still sick of course.

Trying to decide if we want to go out to a movie this weekend or not, anyone seen any good ones lately?
Got my weights workout in, I am on my third week of this program and it upped my sets to 3 sets of 12 (was 2 sets of 12) and boy that wore me out, just one more set, who'd a thunk!

Hope everyone is having a good, on plan day/weekend!

Hello everyone! Im sorry about my lil meltdown yesterday. It was just NOT my day. I had gotten off work then decided to go shopping for some new work clothes because my pants were too baggy. So i went in the first store and picked out some tops and pants (all a size down). So when i went in the fitting room i tried on all the shirts first...and they fit! So then i tried on the pants....and they did NOT fit. I was so upset i almost cried in the fitting room. I thought for sure I was able to drop a pant size...

So i head to the next store to find pants. The ones they had were a little more stretchy, so I got them a size down (20) and they fit! So im guessing im just between sizes right now. My 22 pants are too big and the 20s are too small lol. Weird. Most off my weight loss have come off my top half, so thats good.

I went to Target to look for clothes there but got distracted by the Pizza Hut they have in there. I got me a personal pan cheese pizza and breadsticks because i was still depressed about my crummy day. After i ate i felt completey disgusted. I had a belly full of grease!!! I began to wonder how in the h*ll i was able to eat like that for so long? I hated the way i felt and decided that the healthy way is DEFINITELY the way for me lol. So im back on track now!

02-26-2011, 03:58 PM
MZJuicyD - unless it was the same store you usually buy clothes and the same brands, you just can't tell. I was wearing (when I was 255-275) a size 20 in Lauren jeans. At 255 they were a bit loose, but still wearable. By 245 they were getting ridiculous. So, I went to try on 18s. Some 18s are loose, some are too tight. I picked up a pair of LLBean jeans in a size 20 and they fit perfectly. yet, the Lauren jeans in a 20 I was swimming in. You really can't know what a size really means. Heck, one size 18 I couldn't even get over my thighs!

OK, did a walk on the treadmill for a mile - 18 minutes and going 3.1 miles per hour, heartrate was 140 bpm. Then I took a walk around the lake behind our house and I was walking 3.9 miles per hour - on flattish and hilly sections. I didn't 3 miles outside. A total of four more miles (haven't updated my ticker yet). So, it is MUCH harder on the treadmill than in real walking - at least with the treadmill I have, so I will no longer feel that whimpy. It's just the treadmill! I'm beginning to be able to walk pretty fast! That's about a 15 minute mile!

MzJuicyD: Glad you're back on track! That Target Pizza Hut food used to always get me too. Now, I always go there right after lunch or dinner, so I can resist it. Same with the grocery store.

Hi everyone. Sorry about the sudden disappearance, but I made a last-minute decision to drive home for my stepdad. Unfortunately, 10 minutes from my home town, I got the call that he had passed away.

On the positive, I got to spend one on one time with my daughter since my husband and son had to stay behind so he doesn't miss school. I also got to catch up with some old friends. We celebrated my daughter's birthday with both my family and my husbands and despite the overwhelming amount of stress, I did not binge. Not once. Not even when faced with all my hometown favorites, not to mention all the good-ole home cookin EVERYONE back home is good at. When I got back home (in NC) tonight, I weighed in at 152.2lbs.

I'm glad I went back. Seeing my stepdad again, even if it was at his viewing, provided a lot of closure. He was a good man, and seeing him and saying goodbye has inspired me to be the kind of person he always told me I would be. Strong, capable, smart and determined.

Just wanted to let everyone know I am here and updated on you all. Just a little worn out from all my activities today. I had an almost on plan day- but was still under 1500 calories so I guess that is good. I had a 2 hour workout this morning, a very active afternoon with my 3 year old and a 1 mile walk this evening. I hope I see 190 again tomorrow- but I did eat a protein bar at 8PM and a granola thin. I was STARVING though. I am not sure if that is off-plan or not. They are both allowed on my plan... but my plan says don't eat after 7PM. But seriusly... I was STARVING.

Pint- I am so sorry about your step-dad. I lost my dad in October and I am not sure it is something that I will ever come to terms with. I will be thinking about you and I hope your family can heal and be there for each other.

Diana, no, I didn't make it to the gym, but I took a long walk around campus. I figured I should ease back into exercise, make sure I'm over my brief cold so I don't make it worse through over-exertion as I tend to.

Today was awful food-wise, calorie-wise. Pep talk was not peppy enough it seems. It happens. I was dealing with some emotional stuff. My therapist of five months is changing jobs, so I see a new person on Monday. This has me thinking about stuff, etc. Distractedness = bad, bad food choices. No excuses, just an explanation. Well guys, my day was really good....then really BAD. :( By 7:30 pm I had had only 280 calories for the entire day. We had been putting down flooring at my in laws all day and I had not stopped to eat. So, we decided to go out for supper.....to a mexican place. Now, I ordered grilled chicken fajitas (meat and veggies only) but while waiting, the chips got the better of me (I had probably 30 chips). I also ate about 1-2 TBSP of guacamole and a couple of my daughter's waffle fries.....THEN when I got back in the car, I had 1/3 of an iced brownie. When I went in there, I was able to have 1000 calories safely (because of how little I'd had to eat thus far in the day). I think I overdid it (by my guess-timation,, I had about 1750 calories today) . I'm not stressing about it though.....I went over by SOME, but could've had a much, MUCH worse day.

Pintsized, I'm sooo sorry about your step dad. I know it was semi-expected, but still doesn't make it any easier. We're here if you need us. Know that I'm thinkin' about ya!

Good Morning, Everyone!

I went to bed at 12 last night and woke up at 6:30 this morning. I still didn't get enough sleep, but I feel better for some reason. It's like I slept better than the night before. Hopefully the meds are regulating. I made homemade chicken quesadilla's last night. They were really good, but I think the taco sauce and seasonings were high in sodium. Yesterday I had a new low of 155.8 and this morning I am up .4 to 156.2. Evil sodium. ;)

Pint sorry to hear about your stepfather, but I'm glad you were able to get back for the funeral and were able to spend some good times with family and friends.

Diana3271 Glad your sleep was a bit better - that pesky thyroid and that scale is flirting with you!

Diana (Gaining in LA) Please do not beat yourself up about 1750 after working that hard all day on laying floors? Hello! You did not have a bad day!

MZJuicyD Glad you are feeling better - we ALL have those days. We just have to dust off and go on and I know you will!

Eurydice Take it one day at a time, change of therapist is hard, so don't beat yourself up!

stacygee Sounds like you did fine and if you are a starving, then eat, by all means. being that hungry isn't good. A little hungry, OK, but starving... listen to your body and you make good choices anyway.

Larry Glad it was a great day!

For me, down another .2. Woohoo! I walked 4 miles yesterday, ate 1500 calories and then Dh and I went out to a pub to hear some live music. We haven't done that in pfft... over a decade? maybe more like 15 years? SO NICE that they are now smoke free. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke (my throat constricts, nasal passages close up and I start to feel sick and nauseous - I think due to both my parents being smokers in the house when I was a kid). Anyway, it was nice to have a date. We took a walk down the historic main street which is all on a hill. A month ago, walking back up would have had me huffing and puffing. Now? No sweat. I am getting more fit!

LLBoldAsLove I hope your ankles start feeling better soon! How's your paper going?

Eurydice I've had plenty of days like that. Did you make it to the gym yesterday? You can do it!

GainingWeightinLA Yay for your loss! You are getting so close to onederland!!!

MzJuicyD buying pants has always frustrated me. I never know what size to try on, because every company's cut is so wildly different. And I heart you about the stomach full of grease. I ate some Little Ceasar's pizza Friday and it just.... felt yucky. Can't believe I used to live off stuff like that!

berryblondeboys You are the walk master! I'm always dying halfway through my second mile. You are doing awesome!

Pint Sized Terror I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and yours.

Diana3271 I have Graves, which makes me hyperthyroid. I'm currently medicated to bring my thyroid back into balance, but the meds aren't really working so they are going to irradiate my thyroid in the next few weeks to make my hypothyroid. I'll eventually be on Synthroid or something similar.

Yesterday I went over my calories. I was going to work out but decided to take the day off because my body just felt overworked. We went to a friend's house in the evening to watch movies and ended up getting Qdoba for dinner, at which point I knew I was going to end up over. I ended up about 200 cal over and I actually exceeded my sodium for the day, which is a first. I thought I'd see it on the scale this morning, but I'm still at 180. Whew!

I'm in love with my calorie tracking app on my iPod. Just thought I'd share that :-)

I hope everyone has a terrific Sunday!!!

My morning weigh in was 151.4lbs!! :carrot: I knew I had to see some loss because I said no to every single road-food on the way home. It's an 11 hour drive from my hometown to my "real" home, and with a 3 year old, there were a lot of stops and opportunities to get bad food. Once, I even had to stop at McD's for a potty break and lunch. My daughter got the apple dippers, milk and nuggets and I got... nothing. Nothing looked good or worth the calories. I got back in the car and peeled/wedged a couple of clementine oranges and had those.

I hope I can stay on track now that I'm home. It's already proving to be hard. Hubby was planning today's lunch and dinner last night (he's cooking it) and OMG... I had to tell him not to be offended if I don't eat it because it's not on plan. Lunch was chili peppers stuffed with sausage and queso and dinner was going to be "hamburgers or something." Plus, after drinking ONLY water all week (a first for me) I came home to a 24 pack of diet Coke sitting on the counter. Not gonna do it. Just NOT gonna do it. :dizzy:

Good luck everyone, and congrats on the losses!! You guys are awesome.

UGH! I woke up hungry this morning. I'm hoping it's really just thirst....I haven't had anything to drink yet. I have already come off of one of my BP meds....this morning, when I got up, I felt light headed so I got hubby to check my BP--105/78! I'm thinking definitely by the time I get to onederland, I'll be OFF the BP meds! :yay: That has been one of my biggest goals.......I'm almost there!!! :D

I'm going to try to not brave the scales today since I kinda had a splurge last night. I know the sodium will likely make it look like I'm up significantly....I'd just rather not look until I've had a chance to drink it off. :D Maybe tomorrow........I hope I'm strong enough to stay off the beast today.

Guys, we're smokin'!! Look at all our successes! Even those of us who haven't had great losses.....we're successful in that we're staying the course and not giving in!! I'm too lazy to look back in the thread to see who said it, but someone said in the last couple of days something to the effect that this was the best place on the Internet.....I AGREE! I used to be a facebook junkie......my facebook rarely gets updated anymore. I come here now! :D

Goin' to get ready for church! Have a blessed, on target day everyone!!!

Checking in quickly since I slept in til 8:30 today!!!!! That doesn't happen very often, but it felt good. The scales are up 0.8 this morning :fr:, but I am also feeling a bit crampy/bloated, so I am chalking it up to PMS, plus, I feel pretty sore today from my weights yesterday so I imagine there is some water holding on in my muscles. Hoping for a good drop this week after TOM. For the week I am down only 0.8 if I go Sunday to Sunday. But this isn't really a good week to be a measure of success (darn PMS/TOM).

Pint, so sorry for your loss. Glad you could be there with your family. Way to go staying on plan!

Everyone else, have a good on plan day, I have to get my butt on that treadmill before I lose my motivation. Going for a longer run today, hopefully at least 3 miles. Aiming to eat 1200 calories today, have been hitting the high end of my calories and I think I am due for a lower day, mix it up, confuse this body!

DianaLa, do you think you could be having low blood sugars in the morning? Light headed, starving, visual disturbance, those could all be signs of low blood sugar too. Do you feel better once you eat? Just a thought...

jomatho, yeah, I have had problems with low blood sugar a lot (usually headaches in the morning).....with eating like I did last night, though, I don't think that's the case this morning. I wasn't bad lightheaded this morning....but it was enough that I noticed it. I'm gonna just keep an eye on it and see what happens. May be blood sugar.....honestly, that didn't even cross my mind. Once when I was pregnant with my son, I got up and went to work one morning (nurse, so we had the means to check blood sugar).....by the time I got there, I was shaky, weak, cold sweat, knees were wobbly...so I checked it.....51!! I ate something and was fine after that. lol Hate it when that happens to me! It's a scary feeling for sure!

DianaLa, You would think that eating a lot the night before would keep your blood sugar up, but it is the opposite. What happens when you are prone to low blood sugar is that your pancreas is putting out too much insulin when you eat. When you eat small amounts of food it isn't very noticable, but when you eat a large amount of food in one sitting, you pancreas puts out that much more insulin and that is when you would be more prone to a low blood sugar. Keep an eye on the mornings after you eat really late and especially when you eat a lot at one time. Also, you would think that eating sweets is beneficial to keep you blood sugar up, but again, the pancreas senses the spike in blood sugar, puts out insulin, but puts out too much, blood sugar goes too low, you get hungry, shaky etc, eat extra, pancreas senses the rise in blood sugar, puts out too much. . . . on and on. It's a vicious cycle. Sorry if you knew all of that, just trying to be helpful :) Oh, and that should improve as you lose weight, but you may always have to be careful of what you eat/how much you eat if that is indeed what is going on.

Pint: Congrats on the weight loss! You have strong will power!

DianaLa: I hope you're feeling better. Thats great about the BP pills. I cant wait till you are able to be off them completely!

As for me, I can always count on my sundays to bring me my new lows. Today I stepped on the scale and saw 265.4! Thats a big deal for me! lol

Just a quick check in for me. I am up 1.2 from yesterday. I had a KILLER workout on the tread yesterday morning so I half expected the gain today. I was on plan yesterday and I'm making sure to be today. I am still under my Feb goal so I am feeling good about finishing Feb strong!!!

Do we have a new March thread name yet? Something involving us "marching" into healthy living perhaps?

Whew, I'm on target calorie-wise, but my sodium is thru the roof!! I've had 690 calories for today so far....aiming for 1200, so I should be good! I'm not even hungry....but what I've eaten.....sheesh....I think I've had about 1800 MG of sodium. :( That oughta look good tomorrow. lol I had a sandwich from Quiznos (300 calories) and a grilled chicken wrap from Sonic (390 calories). When you add the overdo from last night, I'm wondering what WW weigh in is gonna look like on Tuesday! Oh well, it's sodium....it'll go away fairly painlessly, I hope. I'm gonna have some cabbage and something else light for supper.....and drink lots this evening (will probably be up all night going to the bathroom!)

How's everyone else's weekend been?

Pint: I so sorry about your loss. You showed incredible strength staying on plan.

Wow I had a major whoosh today!! I was up all night long every hour going to the bath room. My body was really dumping water. :dizzy: Do I get exercise credit for all those trips from the bed room to the Bath room? I must have clocked a mile. LOL.

Got on the scale at my normal weighing time and I discovered that I lost 4 (four) pounds. Yahoo!! I am now at 270 and knocking on the door of the 260's. :carrot:

Calories today so far is 761 which included eating pizza for lunch at Cici's, just not very much pizza. I will have to do some serious healthy snacking to get my cals up a little higher today. At this point I think reaching my 1500 cal plan is out of the question for today. Oh well tommorrow is a new day.

My exercise today consisted of 5 hours of strenuous gardening.

Larry,

Hey everyone!

Larry, great job on the loss! 4lbs?? CONGRATS! :carrot:

Today was great as far as calories. I'm busy trying to get the house back in order. It's good to be home. I'm soooooooo glad to see my little boy again! I didn't want him to leave my side all day today! I missed him so much! I swear he's grown in the week I've been gone! *sigh* Well, I'm off to finish up some laundry folding and watch my recorded Glee episodes. :dancer:

I did make them myself. It was pretty easy, but messy. I just cut the bananas up into pieces. Melted a cup of semisweet chocolate with a tbs of canola oil (20 seconds at a time in the microwave until melted). Dip the bananas into the chocolate and then roll in your favorite topping. I used coconut flakes, crushed oreo cookies and crushed weight watcher's toffee pieces. After a few hours in the freezer, they were delish! :D Someone suggested not freezing them, because they're hard to eat, but the longer they take to eat...the less I eat. ;)

I was really bad yesterday... had a chicken salad wrap and some of my sister's fries for lunch, small ice-cream (again, with sister), and chicken fingers with friends before the concert.... and beer. REALLY bad day. :-(

Back on track today, have 8/10 pages of my paper done. Really need to stop slipping up!

I was perfect all dy and then had a chocolate binge. I think it might be my first, too Shells... 1 miniature Nestle Crunch, 1 dove chocolate, package of 6 oreo cookies, and a hershey kiss and 3 granola thins. Over 600 calories. My tummy hurts. Why did I do it? I had to go all the way out to my husbands office, with a key and find the hidden stash. I am should feel full of shame... but all I feel now is worried that the scale will be up 3 pounds.

Now that I am ading it up I think I am still under 2000 calories. Now I am trying to justify myself- SHAMEFUL!

Can't wait for tomorrow to work it off....

Hey, everyone! My head is screwed on a bit better today, so eating on track has been easier. I will have met my goal of under 1500 calories today, which definitely restores some of my confidence in myself and my ability to do this. I went for a very little run. For some reason, it's a lot easier for me to run on a treadmill than outside, and since I was outside, I couldn't go as far as usual. I think I have a tendency to run faster when on my own so I get tired out more quickly. But I don't really know if that's true. :?:

I see my new therapist tomorrow. If he's any good, he should be able to help me get my anxiety a little more under control, and that should help my impulse to overeat. It would be nice if my emotions actually reflected what's going on around me. Life is good--I'm in school, I enjoy my classes, money is tight but I'm not struggling this month. Anyway, I'm just going to stop this here so this doesn't morph into a full-fledged mental health rant

Hi there! i came across this forum and i thought its a great idea to help motivate me!! im so desperate right now, and im sick of dieting. i got so depressed with my weight, that a couple of months ago, i was like " u know what, ill never lose the weight, so i might as well just enjoy food"..and i put on 10lbs in 2 months.now im seriously depressed. u might think im not that overweight and say that im making a big deal and stuff, but im not used to being this heavy. ive been 127lbs for the longest time until i got married and had a baby.im having problems with my back neck and shoulders, and i can just say that "nothing" fits me anymore.some people carry weight well, i dont and im sick of being like this. i need motivation!!! i hope i find it here:))

NSV, kinda. I had a MAJOR ego boost today. I friend of mine who I hadn't seen in a few years messaged me today and told me I looked "gorgeous." We grew up together (he's related to my stepdad) and has always been very athletic, and into girls who were the same. I told my husband and he said, "Well, it's true." :o :carrot:
