I just wanted to share my good news!! WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!! I cannot believe it!! We finally have our very own home, to do whatever we want!! When we put in our offer on Saturday, I really didn't think it would be accepted. But my husband got a call from our realtor today, on his 27th birthday, that it was accepted!!! This has got to be the best birthday/Valentine's Day present of all time!!!!!! I'm so happy, I think I may start crying again, lol!!
Now all we have to do is go back to Maryland and pack up all our stuff. Hubs is going to drive me & the cats back to Arizona in March or April.
I have my own house. Wow.

I don't mean to be a fly in the ointment, but please don't get super duper attached and ready until you actually close and have keys in hand. We had a house with an accepted offer, went into escrow, went in to sign our closing paperwork and gave them our $$ to pay the down payment, and we STILL lost the house (and then spent 6 months trying to get our money back out to make an offer somewhere else) due to a paperwork error that the bank couldn't work out. Having been through this experience, and being ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED for months, I just like to remind people to guard their hearts until they have keys in hand. Probably you will be JUST FINE, and again, not trying to be a downer...it just worries me when people get SO EXCITED before close of escrow, because when things go wrong it is just totally heartbreaking.
But your deal will go, I'm sure, TOTALLY SMOOTHLY, so again, congratulations!
Home ownership is awesome. Six months after we moved in, we enclosed the laundry room, expanded the pantry, totally renovated the kitchen, removed a wall (load bearing), replaced all existing flooring with stained concrete and painted every wall something totally bright. (Living room is bright orange, main hallway is sunshine yellow for starters.)
It's expensive but fun and totally worth it. At least you build equity taking care of your dwelling now. Congrats!
totally agreed. guard your heart. we waited to show the kids at all until we had the keys in hand, and moving in. we knew once they saw it, it would be so disappointing to move to another house that didn't have what this one has. lots of hiding places and character
