I am so wiped out by the time I get home each day make dinner kids laundry then paperwork for work. Any suggestions to get started with exercise?

Think of it as the next chore or job you HAVE to get done.

Just start it no matter what or how you feel... whenever I make myself go about 10 minutes into the exercise I always feel a rush and am so happy I went.

Pay for a trainer or a class and you'll feel like you HAVE to go.

Get a buddy that you HAVE to meet to exercise with.

Yep, get it done early. ;) I'm up between 4:40 and 5:00 AM every morning because if it doesn't get done first thing, it doesn't get done.

Exercise seems to increase my energy.. I may have to force myself to do it but feel great once its done.. I try to do it before I start my day with the kids or once they go to sleep.. Sometimes even when they are playing in the basement.. It's great to have 4 little cheerleaders cheering me on..

hopefully you can make it work - its soooo worth it..

yoga or pilates might be good to help get you moving. both are relatively slow paced, energizing, and very effective. you can follow it up with some walking, aerobics, weight lifting, and/or whatever else you like. you will be suprised how your energy level increases.

Maybe try a short workout video like 30 Day Shred. It's quick and it will get you in the habit of doing something every day. Set a mini-goal for the end of the video, like losing 5 lbs. Doing that will give you something to work towards.

Walking is really good and if your kids are anything like mine drag them out with you my youngest is hyper all the time so when I do my walk after dinner around 7pm I take her with me is a vain attempt tired her out so she will sleep.
I also try and get out of the office at lunch time and walk round the block a couple of times this is more to clear my head then exercise but it all counts

I'd suggest brisk walking as well. Find a route that will take about 30 minutes and just do it.

Take half of your lunch break and walk or climb stairs. It'll give you a needed break from thinking of work, and you'll be more productive. (That's what you need to tell yourself.)

You also don't have to do all your exercise at once. It's just as good if you break the total up over the day. Say you set yourself a goal of 30 minutes a day; that can be 10 minutes of pushups/situps in the morning, 10 minutes of a video some other time in the day, 10 minutes of brisk walking during your lunch break. There are actual studies on this somewhere, I can track the reference down if you want.

Plus for me, it's sometimes just the getting started problem. If I say, It's only going to be 10 minutes, it's easier for me to do it, and often I end up doing more.

In fact, if you have a sitting-at-a-desk job (this has been in the news lately) it is much better to break up hours of sitting time with exercise, because sitting still for a while causes the metabolism to slow down in your muscles, especially the large muscles in your legs and butt that don't do anything when you are sitting.
