New thread

Surprised a new thread hadn't been started. Hope you don't mind.

Lots of work in store for today. It concerns drywall.

Sandra, my leader gave me a pamplet, similar to the weekly thing they give out with Simply Filling info. Ask for that. I got it the 1st week I joined, which was the week the new p+ went into effect. I am holding steady on my weight. I saw my new ticker when I was reading the biggest loser thread. I think it's so cute with the celery and apple.

Not been getting my veggies and fruit in though. Even been forgetting to take my heart meds. I do this when we get busy on a project.

Welcome Rachel. You will find great support here.

ems, I'm slow losing too. Just think, 8 lbs gone, and you don't have to deal with them anymore.

I'm not into football and didn't even watch the commercials. I am seeing a few on the Today show.

Rhonda, my husband would love your southern meal.

Oh, about the reduced bread. No limit per day, but as with anything, moderation is the key.

Good Morning Chicks! I'm off and running again today. I have Jenny today; a slight gain again from my stress eating during the blizzard and then for a cut and color. That should make me feel great and make me get back on program. Actually I've been back on program for two days but too little too late!

Welcome, Rachael. You're going to love it here. We love each other and try to be supportive no matter the program. I started doing Core back in 2004 when it came out; lost 50 pounds, my best friend died and and I gained it all back. I ADORE core but needed to learn portion control. I'd actually stopped losing before she died because I did NOT know how to stop when satisfied. So for the last couple of years, I've been on Jenny Craig. Her food is not great and processed. I actually hate that I'm on it because I love my own cooking, even the healthy food. And, I don't want to eat processed food. BUT....Jenny has taught me portion control and I needed that lesson desperately. I'm transitioning very slowly back to Core. When I get closer, I'm going to rejoin WW. Jenny got that 50 pounds back off of me again but I still have another 100 pounds to lose so I have no business resting on my laurels.

Nancy, I'm SO happy Robin is feeling good enough to go hunt down some food.

Love and light to everyone else. Sloan, you made me laugh out loud. I'm SOOOOO glad I didn't have any liquid in my mouth when you said it could be worse that I'd have Frosty the Snowman sitting on the couch next to me. So true, my friend. I'm trying to keep that in perspective. And, when I was complaining about it, I was thinking about poor Nancy and Robin. How they would love to have my troubles.

Gotta run girls!

Good morning all:

Pam, thanks for starting the new thread this week.

All is well here with the frigid weather, at least until tomorrow/Wednesday when the forecast includes colder temperatures and more sleet and snow.

This week I'm going to continue my attempt at 40-40-20 with the percentage distribution of protein, carbs and fats, keeping fat at 30 grams per day, as much as possible.

For what it's worth, I'm cutting bananas from my diet for a while. I love them, but they have a bad rap as far as belly fat is concerned. I don't know that it is true, but I can give them up for a while. If I can't, I'll freeze them and just put pieces in my protein shakes instead of eating a whole one.

I am also supposed to get my new training routine from my trainer and I am excited about that. Did I brag to you that I chest pressed 85 pounds (with trainer spotting me)? I tried to repeat that yesterday and could do only 65 before my right arm said "enough already!". I love moving heavy things around

02-07-2011, 11:54 AM
Rhonda, you are TOOOOOO impressive! I'm supposed to be in the shower to go to JC, but I don't want to go. Instead I'm sitting here researching attic insulation and venting!

02-07-2011, 01:34 PM
YOO HOO from across the pond Rachael. You are very welcome.:welcome2:

Awww Nancy I'm so happy for you and Robin. It will be lovely for the two of you to have some 'us' time now.

Busy day here, that's why I'm late posting (5.30pm) We had to go to the DIY store, more paint and some moulding for around a door.
Since we had the new double glazing, the new central heating and re insulated the attic we never know what the weather is like. We went out of the front door this morning and had a heck of a shock, the wind nearly blew us back in. It is dreadful here, howling gales and lashing rain. We will be having an early night with our library books and electric blanket.

02-07-2011, 02:59 PM
Pam, thank you for the info on SF. I am seriously thinking of getting that pamphlet tomorrow. The downside is I don't want to wi tomorrow afternoon. I may have a Pass I can use. If so, I'll definitely use it. I am totally against late day wi's. I'm enjoying the BL board here, too. Love the info on light bread on SF!!!!

Vickie, it's so good to see you here. You have a fun day planned. Enjoy your new cut and color. Wish we could see photos. I'm off in a bit to get a pedi/mani.

Why am I here now? I got to school this morning just ahead of the teacher I was to sub for. He said he found out last minute that he didn't need to go to San Antonio and didn't know who to call. He now has my number in his cellphone. I'm usually his sub. (Ag Teacher) I came back home and went back to bed. Life is good!! Oh! I did tell him I would get even probably by hiding all his pencils next time I subbed for him.

Rhonda, you are a very dedicated/determined woman. Will you rub a little of your dust onto me?

JoJo, enjoy your evening relaxing, reading, and staying toasty.

I am back op today after double dipping in the dips last night. Since my subbing was cancelled today, I wish I had had more wine. Oh, well.... Next time!!

Tomorrow will be a subbing day. If I'm not wiped out afterwards, I'm going to WW to get the SF pamphlet. BBL

Hi Ladies :)

Had a very busy weekend that I had not time to get on the board. Had no idea who won the super bowl as I was watching the golf tournament. Don't like football that much sorry.

This morning I going to the vitamin store and pick up the vitamins and supplements that I ran out of when we had the terrible snowstorms.

Went with my friends to see the Kings Speech Movie yesterday for a early show. Hope that the actor that played the king & his speech therapist are among the actors that up for nomination. That must a been a tough time to be able to play at part like that.

Have to go,hope I will be able to read last weeks post and this weeks to answer each one of you.

Got all my errands done and now I'm making a beef stew, for a few meals this month.

See you guys in the morning

02-07-2011, 09:00 PM
Hey guys ..I got a bit more cleaning & laundry done today and a few errands.
I returned a new vacuum that was turning off every few minutes so now I am still deciding what vacuum to buy.. Anyone have one you love ??
My old one will do for now til I decide.

Robin's appetite is picking up but some foods taste strange . We are trying to find the common theme for what taste right & bad but so far it seems really random . Friends have been bringing meals which has been a big help.

When he goes to Duke for the Stem Cell Transplant he will be there a month so I am trying to get organized to prepare for that. Duke is about 30 minutes from us. I want to come up with healthy food that I can take & put in the frig there (they have one for caregivers) to keep me from picking up fast food that month. I think I will be coming home at night as they frown on staying overnight there. Can anyone think of ideas to add to this list

Yogurts, cheese sticks, nuts, protein shakes, boiled eggs, single serving homemade soups to microwave there, fruit..

Our daughter from Ca will be here Thursday but we just found out that the Dr wants Robin back in the hospital Friday. The boys & my brother were also planning to come home this weekend ..We are going to ask the Dr tomorrow at our appt if we can delay the admission til Monday..

Everyone asks how can they help but I am so stressed and disorganized right now it is hard to know what to ask of people. Food is obvious..
My house is dirty which bothers me maybe that is what I need help with.

02-07-2011, 09:57 PM
Nancy, whatever you do is going to be OK. Your list of food sounds really good. Do you like salty snacks? If so, pretzel sticks are good in moderation.

My experience was that friends sometimes got confused. I remember wishing that someone would just show up and clean my house or do my laundry. I can relate.

My favorite vacuum cleaner by far is the Dyson ball for animals. It's been worth absolutely every penny.

02-07-2011, 11:06 PM
Nancy, it's good that you and Robin will have so many family members around. How long will your daughter be able to stay? Your snacks sound good. How about microwave popcorn?

I forgot to do any exercise biking yesterday. Here's today's:

:ebike: :ebike: (I almost forgot to do any today.)

02-08-2011, 02:26 AM
Nancy When our daughter started to show signs of autism, she didn't sleep more than an hour's capnap at a time for many months. The house got dusty, messy and just plain grubby, ironing piled up, windows were left uncleaned etc etc. This got me down more than anything else. When friends asked what could they do to help I asked (very embarrassed by the way) if they could do something about tidying up. People jumped at it. They had all felt helpless just watching what was happening and loved the chance to do something practical. Resut? A lovely sparkling clean house. Hoover: Dyson pethair one, because labradors shed like there is no tomorrow.

Ps. Thanks too Pam I've found a whole new lot of tickers and they are easier to manage. Hope you don't mind me copying you Pam

02-08-2011, 08:53 AM
good morning chicks. Getting ready to drink my second cup of coffee. The scale was good this morning. I doubt I will have a loss come Thursday, as I haven't exercised at all this week.

Sandra, you are doing really well with your bicycle. I'm impressed.

Rhonda, I couldn't bench press 10 lbs, lol. I am so weak.

Vicki, did you make it to JC?

Maryann, there you are. Your beef stew sounds so good. Thinking about making a pot of chili, but all that sodium will not play good with my WI on Thursday.

Nancy, I have a Kenmore canister vacuum. I love it, but I have all hard surface floors. My sis has a Dyson, and loves hers. She has 3 Springers, so it's great for pet hair.

jojo, glad you found a new ticker. I hope it's easier to update than my last one.

02-08-2011, 10:30 AM
Mornin' chickies! I am home, yet again, for another snow day, and we have another snow forcasted for tomorrow! I have been reading about y'all's progress, and I feel like a pig! I feel like I must sound like a broken record. For the last year, I've been whining about the same thing. I lose a couple of pounds then gain one back. I am not going in the right direction. I don't want to make excuses, but maybe the seven funerals I have been to in the last ten months has something to do with it. I really need to do some soul searching, and get myself on track.

Welcome Rachel! We are glad to have you here :D

Nancy, I am loving the picture of you and Robin "puttering" around the house. I'm so glad you have had this time at home. Hopefully, the doc will change Robin's admission date so y'all can have some time with the kiddos.

Hey to the rest of you chickies!!!

02-08-2011, 12:42 PM
Good morning:

Last week every tap class and practice session was cancelled because of the weather and today we had just about forgotten the new dances! Two of the six can remember everything, but the other four of us forget about half!

I've already eaten all but 5 grams of the fat that I allow myself. It's the eggs I ate for breakfast, should'a had egg whites. Oh well. Last night DH wanted real popcorn made with oil and we had it, so today I really need to watch the fat intake.

Pam, you may not be able to bench press but it sounds like you can wield a few tools around. That's not nothing!

Sloan, don't be too hard on yourself. You'll make your goal a priority. What a lot of snow you have

02-08-2011, 05:37 PM

02-08-2011, 06:12 PM
I feel selfish that I don't have much time to respond to what is going on in everyone else's life ..I do scan & keep up the best that I can

Thanks for the encouraging words & advice .

The Dr told us today that we can wait to be readmitted to the hospital until Tuesday. :cp: That will give us this weekend with all 4 kids here..We also are celebrating Robin's birthday (Jan 26th) and our son in laws (Feb2) on Sat night. As a bonus my brother will be up from Ga ...
Pray that Robin feels good enough to enjoy the family.

Hi Ladies:)

Got up late this morning due to hurting my knee when turning to my tummy. Was able to go to my PT session and they told me I inflamed my Burton sack and wasn't allowed to use the gym. My Therapist John put me on two machines and massaged the knee area for at least 15 mins. I'm alright now, the pain has subsided. This Thursday I will be able to use the gym if the knee is OK.

Supposed to get a rain/snow mixture this morning but we got rain instead. Most of the snow is now gone.

This afternoon I cleaned out the bedrooms draws and got rid of lots of junk.I can't believe how much I accumulated since I more downstairs.Just call me the horter,I take after my mom she used to do the same thing.

NANCY-Glad to hear you family will be with your shortly, and that the doctor changed his appointment.

PAM-After the stew I will also make some chili,as it delish!! especially on a cold winters night. Sodium play havoc with me on W-I day.

SLOAN-I think that's happening to every one going up & down like a yo-yo on the scale. It has a lot to do with the bad weather we are having. In fact more people lean & cook comfort foods.

Going to start my supper see you guy tomorrow

02-08-2011, 07:45 PM
Hi everyone. Its been a busy time here - not sure what I've been doing but I haven't had time to stop! DD is fighting a cold and skipped karate tonight. She didn't want to go shopping for her valentine stuff for school. They do a gift bag that needed one sweet, one salty snack and a small toy. I did ok on the food, but a generic small toy? I wandered around Target looking for something a girl or a boy would like. I then checked in with DD on what valentine cards she'd want - she told me to pick before I left, but I could just see her hating what I picked out. Sheesh, she's only 7! Everything passed, whew.

Welcome Rachel! I did core also when it was introduced back in 2004. I lost 45pds and actually became a lifetime member. I got back to it a few weeks back - the new program is just about the same as the old program. Its working for me! As long as you are OK with portion control, it does work. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Rhonda, I'm impressed with you upper arm strength. I can do the treadmill or elliptical for 60-70 minutes without any problems. But I still struggle with my upper arm work. I've never had any upper arm strength. I'm working at it though!

Nancy, I'm glad Robin is doing better. When is the transplant? Is that what is happening next week? It will be good to get it over soon. Some other meal ideas - chili, whole wheat pasta with veggies and sauce, chicken and veggies with rice. I find any of these types of meals freeze well and you could take them with you and microwave them. I've also found if I make a large salad it will keep for a week in the fridge if I put a paper towel on top and then plastic wrap. The towel traps all the moisture that would make the salad brown. Just keep swapping the towel when it gets wet. Hope these ideas help!

Maryann, I hope your knee is feeling better. Don't overdue!

JoJo, we're having similar weather -- its cold and windy here. The good news is that starting this weekend we should be getting into 35+ degree temps. I hope it warms a bit for you.

Well, I gained this week. I updated my weight on WW but I'm not changing my ticker just yet. I fell hard off the wagon this weekend - Idon't think I tracked anything since Friday. I'm back to it today!

Have a good night.

02-08-2011, 08:08 PM
I just enjoyed some chips and dip greatly. I'm not going to feel the least bit guilty

Nancy, no one expects you to write individual notes. No one! You just let us know how you and Robin are doing and we'll do the rest.

Paula, I've always had some upper body strength but last year I couldn't do real pushups and now I can do about 15. It's tough but I can do them. Body weight exercises like pushups are good to do. Don't worry about weights.

Maryann, so sorry to hear that you had trouble with your knee! It take a long time to recover but you seem to be doing well, really.

02-08-2011, 08:43 PM
I'm too tired to feel guilty about the Mexican enchilada dinner I had tonight. I may feel guilty tomorrow and will do some dusting.

I just finished reading all the posts here. I apologize for not responding. I'm exhausted. Obviously, no ebike tonight.

02-09-2011, 04:13 AM
Nancy Yeeeee Haaaaaaa:carrot: Me and me carrot are doing the happy dance for you and Robin. How lovely to have the whole family around you. Enjoy. I used to love Christmas and Easter when my family was home, no work, no school.

Sloanie & Ems Oh dear, oh dear! Chin up now. We have to have bad weeks to enjoy the good don't we? I'm willing the two of you on.

After several days of ignoring it, I have to roll up sleeves and 'shovel out' the lobby between the back door and the kitchen. To put it politely, it looks grubby. The paintwork needs a good wash. What with the wet weather, the wind, our walking boots and a labrador the size of a small donkey, it looks more like an outhouse.

Have a good one all

02-09-2011, 09:27 AM
 everyone

This is a post about vacuum cleaners and paint!

Nancy, the March 2011 Consumer Reports has a report on vacuum cleaners. Overall, they rate the Kenmore Intuition 31100 as the "best buy" for bagged uprights. They rate Bissell CleanView Helix 21K3 and Dirt Devil Featherlite M085845 as the best buys for bagless. They rate Dyson #30. I don't get that, I love my Dyson!

This issue also rates interior house paint, of interest to you painters out there.

I hope everyone has a good day. We have more snow

02-09-2011, 09:48 AM
good morning chickies.

Today is painting day. Hubby is sanding the drywall seams, then I get to prime and paint. I wonder what paint was rated #1? I always try to buy the best. Hate having to paint multiple coats. Give me the good stuff and get it over with.

Sandra, I had mexican the other night. Didn't do any damage on the scale. WW is not about deprivation. That's why they have the points system.

jojo, my whole house is nothing but dust. When we do a project, I put off dusting or vacuuming until we are done. What's the use? Just think how nice it will look when you are done, lol.

Maryann, the least little twist will set you back with your knee. I still have pain occasionally. We had a heavy downpour a couple days ago. I was out and it hurt just to walk, for some strange reason. Guess it was the pressure in the air. Take care.

Nancy, that is wonderful news that your family will be together. Hope you make memorable memories to remember for years to come. I love when we all get together.

ems and sloan, chin up. Easier said then done, I know.

Have to go, the boss is calling me, lol. Hi to the other chicks.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Up early this morning and raring and ready to go. Don't know where I got my energy from. I have a appointment with H & R Block to have my taxes done. He is going to help me with the 3 IRA's that I have after being 70 1/2. and how much I have to take out.

Saw Dr Agatston yesterday on Dr Oz.He told us that if we follow the 3 basic ways of the plan[good fats, good carbs, lean protein] with portion control you should lose.

PAULA-Thanks,today the pain in the knee is gone.I'm very careful when walking or climbing stairs but it happened when I was sleeping.

RHONDA-Thanks,I guess I'm expecting to walk along the beach like I used to but I must take one step at a time first walk to my mailbox and back and than start walking around the block before walking too far along the beaches, like I did the other day.

PAM-You're correct I must be more be careful when turning & twisting, but how care I when I'm sleeping I had my brace on during the night and it still happened. Oh I definitely believe that the low pressure in the temp reading caused a lot of pain in the joints and elsewhere on the body. You take care also.

Have a great day.

02-09-2011, 02:13 PM
On the vaccuum post -- LOVE, Love, love my Dyson. It gets up all the dirt like no other vaccuum I've ever had. And I have to clean up behind my dh, dd and a 95 pd lab. Love the bagless too, I'll never buy a different brand.

02-09-2011, 02:22 PM
Me too Paula! I've never seen any vacuum take up so much dog hair. This is one time I disagree with Consumer Reports.

Pam, the best paints were Behr and Benjamin Moore for the most part. That fits my experience.

02-09-2011, 05:28 PM
For paint -- Dh is a contractor. He won't use anything but Benjamin Moore.

02-09-2011, 06:52 PM
Hi there. We slept in this morning and I am still in jammies. Rhonda, you prob got more snow than we did. We just got a skiff--but the ice is enough to close the local schools. I am back counting points. Did I mention I spent a great deal of time while subbing yesterday going through THE COMPLETE FOOD COMPANION looking for the little triangle for foods now Simply Filling. After I was finished, I decided I would stay P+. Getting diet bread is good, but I'm not willing to give up some other goodies for the new plan--right now, that is.

I'll leave vacuum cleaners and paint revues to the rest of you. That's not my department; however, I am enjoying getting your tips.

I'm back on target today and am feeling good. Ya'll have a good evening. I'll be back later.

02-09-2011, 06:52 PM

02-09-2011, 09:28 PM
Just got home from shopping with my sis. I got a bunch of stuff for my bathroom.

Rhonda, I always buy Behr, my favorite paint.

Paula, where do they sell Benjamin Moore? I'll have to try it the next time I buy paint.

Sandra, good job on the bike today. Does shopping for 5 hrs count towards exercise, lol?

02-09-2011, 10:25 PM

Robin felt like running a few errands with me today and we ate lunch out today.
That is the first time since that 2nd round of Chemo that he has been up to that. His color is also better today..

We bought a DVD payer today so we can watch movies in the bedroom..
Now DVD is outdated and things are going to blueray..Does anyone else get tired of keeping up with the current formats...

02-09-2011, 10:28 PM

About my weight..oh dear..I must be stress eating..
I allowed a few extras because of the stress and now I am almost at 150.

02-09-2011, 10:53 PM
Nancy, just stay aware. You'll get the pounds off again.

Sandra, good biking! And, yes, we had ice here.

Fish and veggies for dinner...ummm, good.

02-09-2011, 11:34 PM
Pam, you definitely get exercise points for 5 hours shopping. I would have "dropped" by 4.

Nancy, just do what you can right now weightwise. Take care of yourself. That's good that you both were able to go out today.

Rhonda, your dinner sounds good. Looks like our weather should be back to normal soon. Curtis is thinking about maybe goig fishing Monday.

I've eaten a great deal of fruit today. Tomorrow we need to go get more.

02-10-2011, 05:15 AM
Thanks jojo and pam i have weigh in tonight hopefully i have lost. I have the doctors tomorrow to get my blood results so will have to wait and see what they say xxx

02-10-2011, 07:57 AM
good morning. I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm not attending my meeting today. I dropped my car off at the dealer to get my power steeriing fixed and refuse to drive my husbands big truck. I did weight myself and have lost another pound.

Still working on the bathroom. I don't think we'll ever get done.

Rhonda and Sandra, saw on the news you got hit with more snow. Be safe.

Nancy, you are aware that you have put on a few pounds, and that's the first step. I stress eat too. Just take one day at a time.

ems, best of luck on your weigh in today and hope you get great news from your dr.

I'll check in later when all you chicks wake up.

02-10-2011, 08:53 AM
Mornin' y'all! I thought about changing my avatar, but the snowman still applies. We had more snow yesterday, and we are home again for a snow day. It's doubtful that we will go tomorrow! The last couple of snow days have been couch days, so I think I'll pick a project and get started today. No more couch time for me. I also plan to look over some core recipes and start planning for cooking/freezing. The only way I'm gonna get back on the wagon is to do some serious planning.

Thanks for the props, y'all. It is so nice to know that you chicks can identify with my little struggles. I'll try not to whine so much today.

Nancy, I'm so happy for you and Robin, and I'm still prayin'. Be good to yourself, and don't worry too much about your weight. You'll get that under control when it is time.

Hey to the rest of you chickies! Have a good day and stay warm!

02-10-2011, 05:51 PM
Thanks pam i lost a lb aswell. Well done on your loss i hope you sort bathroom out soon. xxx

Solan your avatar reminds me of xmas hehe xxx

02-10-2011, 06:47 PM
:woohoo: Ems and Pam!! Congratulations on your weightloss.

Ems, letus know what the tests show. ;) ;) ;) for a good report.

I took Tylenol PM after midnight and slept till about 10 am today. One of my high schools called and I didn't even hear the ringing. I called them back later and told them I would have been a zombie in class for sure.

Sloan, enjoy your snow days. You're right about planning. What is it they say at WW? "If we fail to plan, we plan to fail."

02-10-2011, 08:24 PM

02-10-2011, 09:31 PM
Hi everyone. Not much going on here.

Ems, Pam, congrats on your loss!! Great job

Pam, my husband gets Benjamin Moore at either a local paint store or an Ace Hardware. The Home Depot or Lowes never has that brand.

Nancy, glad to hear Robin is doing well. It must have been nice for him to just go run some errands.

02-11-2011, 12:57 AM
I don't want to go to sleep. It's 7AM in Egypt.

I've been able to stay at 1500 calories over the last few days. I bought some pretzels rods for snacking and just had to have some tonight. But, they're not too bad, almost no fat and only 120 calories.

I went to the gym for a 1/2 hour workout earlier today. Short, but good.

02-11-2011, 04:00 AM
Mark is down with bronchitis and not at all well. It's so funny, when we were smokers we never got ill and sailed through flu epidemics. Since we gave up, Mark developed bronchitis and we have caught every bug known to man!

Pam I'm an only child, my dad was killed when I was 3 weeks old. I'd give anything to have a sister. I'm so envious of you and that shopping trip with your sister.

Nancy Don't beat yourself up over falling off the diet wagon now and then. Sophisticated as the human race thinks it is, at the end of the day we are still animals. Listen to your body, it knows best and is telling you that, with all you have to cope with now, dieting is not an option. Be kind to yourself.

Going with Mark now to our doctor's surgery. There is a drop in clinic between 9 and 10 am when you don't need to make an appointment

02-11-2011, 04:36 AM
Thanks Sandra and Paula hope your both well xxx

Jojo hope mark gets better soon xxx

02-11-2011, 09:14 AM
Rhonda, you're an inspiration. Thirty minutes sounds like a good exercise to me. I just did 10 yesterday.

JoJo, I hope Mark gets better quickly. That is odd about ya'll being more apt to colds and such after stopping smoking.

 to EMs, Paula, and all of you yet to get here. I'm off to sub for the tennis coach.

hey girls still no proper answer my blood test came back saying iron, kidneys, liver and cholestol was normal. My thyroid came back saying it is still over abit it has come down abit from last time when i was on 100mg a day but it is still saying im abit over on 75mg a day im so confused as i am still having underactive thyroid symptoms :( so my doctor is looking up thyroid dissorders now and in the mean time i have to take my temperture 10 times in one day and record it and let him know what they said when he rings me about what he is going to do next about the thyroid.

Yesterday was day 18 for me. I had lost 13 lbs. since starting but have been the same weight for 4 days now. But still encouraged. At first I micromanaged, then let up a bit...stopped using precise measurements, etc. Back to micromanaging today. :?:

Soy can affect thyroid function. Check the amount of soy you are getting and let your doc know.

Thanks for all the grace on my weight change but I will feel better if I keep my diet healthy...

I am going to go back to my 5 to 6 mini meals with high protein & fiber .
That will work well at the hospital also.. It makes me feel better when I am eating right. My joints really feel it when I eat salty/ fatty things..

Sitting around the house today with Robin & 2 kids..One arrives tonight..
This is the closest to normalcy that we have had in 2 months ...It feels great.

Hi ladies.

jojo, hope Robert feels better soon. I quit smoking over 17 yrs ago. I wish my other family members would quit smoking. We have so many in our family that have passed with lung cancer. I have my closest cousin that is stage 4 lung cancer and I'm just hoping he can hold on until I can see him in June. The dr. gave him a year recently and he is taking an experimental drug and the cancer has not grown, so maybe the drug is helping. Funny about my sis. When we were kids, we fought all the time. Hated each other and never thought we would be close. Now we are best of friends. Guess we just needed to grow up.

Nancy, glad you are feeling some normalcy right now. Smaller meals are good. Getting enough protein to keep you satisfied is the key.

ems, I've had my thyroid checked and they say it's normal, although it's on the low end of normal. Hope you get some answers soon.

Paula, I never shop at Ace except when we run there for a quick trip, since Home Depot is further away. I will check out the paint the next time I'm there.

Sandra, you have been doing great with your bike. 10 minutes is 10 minutes more than I did, lol.

Rhonda, what time did you get to sleep? Are you from Egypt?

dunwitfat, 13 lbs in 18 days is fabulous.

More bathroom work today. Did I say I'm getting sick of this? Well, I am. We take one step forward and 2 steps back. I will be so glad when it's done, but it won't be any time soon.

02-11-2011, 07:29 PM

Pam, no, I'm not from Egypt. I was born in Texas, lived in Canada and also lived in Israel for about one year. My late husband was Israeli. What happens in Egypt is very important to the world, and I'm fascinated by the process of political change.

Jojo, so sorry your DH is sick.

Nancy, I'm so glad you have some normalcy. I know you're enjoying it.

I went to the gym and to tap dancing today. Then, I went to my old home town for a funeral (didn't phone, Sandra; knew you were teaching and we were in and out, not staying). The traffic was awful.

Ems, how long have you been hypothyroid? I was diagnosed around 10 years ago. If you are still having symptoms you should ask your Dr to increase your dosage. The normal range for me (not sure if its TSH, T3 or T4) is between 2 and 5. I need to be on the low end - close to 2 to feel good. My dr is more concerned about how I feel rather than just the number.

Did your Dr reduce your meds? I've never seen that - not only am I hypo, so is my mom, 1 brother, 2 sisters and a niece. None of us have ever reduced dosage. If anything your thyroid function continues to slow, not improved.

Ems, you might look at the Mayo Clinic website about thyroid. Their site is very imformative.

My heart is full because my house is full of loved ones !!!!

Ems Don't worry love, the thyroid is a strange beast. It can swing from one pole to another and sometimes it takes a while to stabalise drug dosages.Rhonda's advice is the best you can get, look up the Mayo site it will really help. My mum was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid 7 years ago. I completely missed it (some nurse eh?)

Mark is on an antibiotic. He has had a good 3 years sailing through winters but this year the bronchitis has laid him low. He was coughing just like a seal barking so I didn't know whether to give him an inhalation or throw him a fish :D

02-12-2011, 10:03 AM
what is soy dunwitfat?

Thanks ladies for all the advice i have had hypothyorid since 1998 but they didnt treat it until 2001/2002 and for the last year they have been saying it has gone abit high and wanted to reduce my meds but i said no as i was still always tired and depressed and weight was going up and up. So eventually they said in november were reducing it from 100mg a day to 75mg a day andsince then iv been really tired again and consitpated and thats symptoms of hypothyroid so they took my blood again and they said yesterday its still high but lower than when it was on 100 but surly if it was hyper abit id be dropping the weight but im not im struggling to loose a lb a week. so they are investigating now im so confused :( Il have a look at that site though thanks for the infor everyone xxx

Good morning:

Sandra? Where are those bikes?!

Ems, Jojo is right. The thyroid is very strange, so don't despair. I had a thyroid infection in 1995 and, even though later tests said all was fine, I didn't feel fine for quite a while. I'll bet that the doctors are working hard for you.

Jojo, can't he have BOTH a fish and an inhalation. I mean, just as long as he doesn't inhale the fish, he should be OK.

Nancy, that's just wonderful. I will be cheered for you and Robin and your family.

Good Morning Chicks! I'm just stopping in to say hello. Lots going on here and no time to breathe.

I just checked the pages quickly and I'm relieved to find that all is right for now in each of your worlds. Congratulations on the pounds off and kudos to those of you who are eating right and exercising.

Now THERE'S something I need to recommit to!

Light and love.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Had a busy couple of days that I couldn't get on the thread. Thursday I finally had a break to go,out with a friend for lunch.

Today is cleaning and straitening up the house. Tomorrow I'm going to the movies with another friend to see "Just Go With It." with Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler.

Today's my DS birthday,I called him and he told me he passed by my old High School on a bus yesterday, and he told me the neighborhood was very scary,as he had to take another bus to get back home and no one there spoke English. TG I live in small town USA won't go back to the big city and live there again.

Have a great weekend

stopping in real quick. We are done painting, and on to the tile. Starting to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Nancy, glad everyone is there with both of you. Enjoy!!!

Vicki, why are you so busy?

Maryann, glad you are able to get out and about. Have fun at the movies.

Paula, I really do have to try that french toast. Need fresh eggs though.

ems, the Mayo Clinic site is great. I use it quite a bit since I have CAD.

Jojo, poor Mark. You are so funny. You would keep me in stitches if we spent time together in real life. I always smile when I read your posts.

Rhonda, hi and bye, see ya later.

Hi to the missing.

Hey chickies! Today is Vance's birthday. We are going out for mexican with family later then to my mom's house for cake and ice cream! The snow has started to melt, so back to school we go. Since we started in January, we have had only one week where we went to school Monday thru Friday.

Nancy, warm wishes for your family time!

I've been crazy busy, and now I'm about to run out for the b'day celebration. I'll talk to y'all tomorrow!

02-12-2011, 08:29 PM
Rhonda, thanks for asking about the bikes. I'll hop on asap. Today my gf came out and we were outside shooting over 2 hours. We had a blast (but I do need to do some biking)

Rhonda, I was subbing yesterday. Was your heavy traffic in Fort Worth? 35 problems?

:welcome: and :woohoo: on losing 13 lbs in 18 days, dunwitfat. That's outstanding!!

Ems,I hope you get your answers soon.

JoJo, throw him a fish?

It sounds like everyone is getting back to normal after the winter blasts. Makes me smile.

Okay, Chickies, I'm hading to the bike.

02-12-2011, 09:25 PM

:ebike: :ebike: :yay:

02-12-2011, 11:29 PM
Sandra, that's good :coach: And, yes, 35 was the problem. It was awful through and north of Ft. Worth. A 30 minute stretch of the road took 50 minutes instead. The traffic from the north looked even worse so I'm glad we weren't in that.

I spent my day getting ready for, then entertaining, 6 great nieces and grandchildren for a Valentine's party this afternoon. We had fun baking and decorating cakes, muffins and cookies. I got them all full of sugar and sent them home  I was good, had only two sugar cookies.

My nephew and his woman friend had a baby yesterday. So, I have my 7th great nephew now. He doesn't have a name yet.

I hope you're all having a good night.

No weight loss for me this week, but no gain either. I've lost inches though. I suppose, if you think about it, we have to slow up on the weight loss now and again so that our skin can catch up. If we didn't we'd have to gather up the slack and tie it in a knot on top of our heads!

Mark slept better last night.

Sandra I was talking about you last evening. There was a murder mystery on TV, set around an archery competition. The main clue centred on finding a nock, at the scene and trying to identify the owner. I said to Mark, 'My pal Sandra would have cracked this case by now'

Maryann Before my mum sank into the black pit of dementia, she was a bit down one weekend and we took her for a drive to where she was born. It was about 2 hours away by car, and a nice run. But when we got there Oh dear. The whole town had gone downhill and there was a drug dealer on every street corner. Her old school had been turned into a night club and when we went to the village where she was born, the cottage had fallen down and was just a pile of rubble!

Hi Ladies:)

In another 1/2 hour I'm going to the movies{Lets Go For It} with my friend Mary. After that we'll head for the pizza place. Than the busy week will start all over again for me.

PAM-Thanks,I glad that she wanted to go to the movies today as I didn't want to spend the day alone.

JOJO-I don't want to back to my old neighborhood as I like to remember the way it was. On the other hand my kids neighborhood is still good and I have been back several times to meet my neighbors.

Have a wonderful Sunday and I see you guys some time tomorrow.

cheers girls il have a look at that site thanks for all your support xxx

Girls, you don't even what to know what I've been dealing with today. My computer essentially crashed. (Looks like I'm telling you anyway, doesn't it?) Anyway, after hours fretting, I talked wth my son about what would be best to buy. Then!!!!!! I was able to get to the Search engine even though most of my hard drive was not working and found "System Restore". Now all is working. If it stops, I will disappear here for awhile.

JoJo, that's funny. I would do my best to solve the mystery. I used to be a teacher, so I am also sort of a detective. Used to find lost stuff for kids and also find folks who had the lost stuff.

I'm off here now to talk to my granddaughter via Facebook then I'll do :ebike: :ebike:

See ya Valentines' Day!!!:val2:
