General Diet Plans and Questions - December Exercise Challenge
Here we go, the moment we've all been waiting for......This challenge is for the month of December. The challenge is to post the number of minutes that you will exercise (walking, wt lifting, cardio or what ever) until and including December 31st. You can post daily or once a week or at the end of the challenge, it's up to you. Congrats to our November Exercisers and we were all winners!!! Hope you will join us and take the challenge, good luck.
Here's mine....I will meet or exceed 750 minutes. I've based this on 30 minutes per day excluding five Sundays and Christmas Day. I'll push harder in January.:dizzy:

Hello Everyone...
This sounds like a challenge that I am up for. I have never counted how many hours I work out. So this is gonna be great. I am gonna guess and say I should work out about 1600 minutes. I work out usually two time a day for 60 minutes but with the holidays this 1600 minutes might be tough. But this will keep me honest. Maybe I am setting my goal high...but you have to start some where.
12/01/02 - No exercise....day of rest....
12/02/02 - So far today at lunch I went to gym and ran/walked for 60 minutes on treadmill....tonight will be a 60 minute spinning class.
1600 - 120 = 1480
This looks like it is going to be fun...I will push myself to get to "0"

Wow....looks like we gots lots of challenges going on. This is great. I get motivated from just reading the post. Well today is weight lifting day for me. So I will post tomorrow how much cardio/weightlifting I put in. I will be so surprised to see the results at the end of the month.

I love this! I am going to "pledge" 1500 minutes and can't wait to run out of minutes at the end of the month and start all over again!!

OH MY GOSH, WE'VE CREATED A MONSTER!!! :D And I am so loving it. Welcome, welcome, welcome........ We are thrilled that this is working and the more we have join, the more fun it will be. Please keep your format similar to mine and I will do my best to post everyone's tally on Monday Mornings.
Anyone can join in on the challenge just calculate your minutes from the day you start until the last day of this month. (No excuses of waiting until the next one starts) :drill: And please do not be intimidated by the numbers that others are posting, everyone has to start somewhere and if you aren't doing any exercise now begin slow and increase as you get stronger. We are only competing with ourselves.

Semo I got up late today and could only walk in the freakin' 15 degree weather. I had to stay in the shower for 20 minutes before I could feel my legs again. But I am so happy I could do it!

P.S. by the way I have lost 12.4 lbs since joining the 3FC website on 9/11/02, or you could say that I have lost one medium sized cat...my cat weighs, strangely enough, 12.4 lbs...I just realized that as I was writing this :lol:

I'm not going to promise anything I can't do. Lets' see. Average of 30 minutes a day comes to 930 minutes for the month.
Dec 1 - 20 minutes
Dec 2 - 35 minutes
Dec 3 - Well, the day's not over yet, is it? ;)

I CAN DO THIS!!! ... now that I've figured out the buttons on my treadmill ... most of them anyway.... :rolleyes:

I often think of calories as something tangible to be 'spent' and this is similiar! I love the idea of wittling down such a big number between now and the end of the month!!

Well I was a manic yesterday. Actually work was slow so I went to the gym at lunch time and did:
20 min on Stepper
40 min on Treadmill Walk/Run
Then...this is the kicker ...was I crazy....*smile*
Went home and lifted weights with my friend for 35min we did legs, bis and tris....and then I let her talk me into doing more cardio...sooooo
20 min on the eliptical
30 min on the step mill
So my grand total for Dec 3 was 145 minutes...I really have a life...*smile* other than working out...Just I had the energy yesterday....now today...I am not quite sure.....
1480 - 145 = 1335

Hey Kathy, I'm afraid that you were up by yourself this AM. Our electric went out at 9:30 last night and still wasn't on when I left for work this morning. Burrrrrrrrr, ever tried to take a sponge bath with no heat in the winter.:dizzy: Thought after all these years that I could put makeup on blindfolded, well not the case today, tried candlelight too, and then finally went to the window with a mirror. What I do for an image!
Hopefully everything will be up and running when I get home and I can get my exercise in.
December 5- Sorry I have to take these minutes as I busted my butt for 4 hours shoveling snow today. But I will only take 120 minutes since I did only weights (the snow on the shovel) and not any cardio.
1170-120=1050 to go.

Aarrghh! My net access has been down most of the week. So I kept a paper log. On the bright side, I had more time to spare and was much more energetic without the net! I mopped the kitchen and raked the yard, etc. But for actual exercise, here's my week:
Dec 3 - 40 min treadmill, 10 min other exercises
Dec 4 - 30 min treadmill, 12 min other exercises
Dec 5 - 35 min treadmill, 11 min other
I don't expect to exercise any today, too much PC work to get caught up on. Good luck to everyone!!

December 4 - 30 minutes on treadmill.
December 5 - Walking in the snow, shoveling the snow, clearing the snow, trying to get around in the snow.... Actually, walked 2 miles and spent 20+ minutes shovelling the stuff.
Total for those 2 days: 90.
To go - 785 minutes.

FlyingFit, are you trying to make me weep? 75 degrees indeed! :dizzy: Our temperature is about 7 + 5!!
Anyone have any advice for me? I walk on my treadmill but want to exercise my arms too. I have little dumb bells but am not coordinated enough to use them while walking on the treadmill. Scary! Could make America's Funniest Home Videos though. :lol:
Anyhoo, I feel like I should be killing two birds with one stone and working the arms while working the ... uh, lower half.

Jello, why don't you try using some exercise videos? check out:
www.collagevideo.com they have a wide variety of videos, also sign up for their catalog which they renew for free every 3mths.
www.firmdirect.com are a good way to start. They have a lot of parts tapes and total body tapes that will do the trick! The firm is a great start!

Sorry I haven't joined you so far this month. What day is it??? The 8th, including today there are let's see (31-8=23) plus 5 days for being out of town that is 18 and 18*5=540 so that is my goal for this month.
Today I exercised 30min so that is 540-30= 510 to go.

Hi Girls,
I haven't posted since Dec. 17th, but I have gotten in a few workouts. Hope you all had a great Christmas. I am also looking forward to the January Challange. This has kept me exercising during the holidays when I would have maybe blown it off. So next month should be great.

Semo I definitely want to to do a challenge for January. I now have DN's virus or cold so I have been sick since Friday...alas I will not be able to complete December Challenge. The good news is I dropped some of my Xmas piggy weight so I am back down to 262, from 263.5. Which makes my net gain for the holiday not too bad.
My start was 1320, and my last balance was 735, so I clocked in 585 minutes which still comes out to about 10 exercise this month, or two 1/2 hours a week or about 25 minutes average a day for the month....oh boy can I rationalize....yeah that's it...I didn't stop exercising in mid-month...I just exercised more in the first part of the month so I wouldn't have to exercise at the end.
What a loser I am, but I still try to connive myself....so it's funny!! :lol:
Drum roll please..............
I exercised 35 minutes on the orbritreck this morning........
35 - 35 = ZERO
I'm going to start the thread for January.

I also completed my challange:
Dec. 28-30 mins pilates tape/45 mins treadmill
900 minutes for the month of Dec. I feel like this is a huge accomplishment for me and YES, I definitely want to do one in January.
