Jan 31: 206.9 TOM

Man, how do you curb cravings for snacks during TOM? I have PCOS, so I'm not used to having regular periods/regular hormones/regular cravings. Is this how it normally is for women monthly?? Logically I know I don't NEED food, but I'm soooooooooooooooooo snacky. I'm going to try and work on my daughter's blanket tonight to keep my hands busy, but any other suggestions for the TOM?

Holding steady at 214.4.

SUPER SNOWPOCALYPSE today. Then it turns into freezing and rain and sleet tonight and then some MORE snow on top of it tomorrow. Awesome.

I've already told my boss that I'll be leaving shortly and won't be in tomorrow. My son is at my parents house and will be staying overnight. My mother told me not to drive to their house to pick him up and then try to drive home. I'm almost giddy at the idea of being snowed in at my house all by myself. I've decided that I am going to clean it from top to bottom. I've got a day and a half to get it done.

Hoping you all are doing well today. I'll check back in a bit.

Morning folks! I hope all of you affected by the winter weather are holding up okay. I had to take ANOTHER work from home day today - I just couldn't face another snow commute. It's just been ridiculous the last couple of weeks - one big storm after another. And, I won't be able to get to the gym today either.

I don't usually get cranky about the weather but I have not been able to settle back into my routine yet this year, and it's starting to piss me off.

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!

Sorry i have been MIA! I have been sick as a dog. Nauseous and cramps. Ended up not throwing up or anything like I thought, but still just as bad. I went to work yesterday, Dr sent me home and stayed home today because im just not up to par.

I did keep track of my weight over the weekend though and am super excited about february! I will take ANY loss in Feb, just as long as im losing!

I have another NS goal: To cook at home 90% of the time. I subscribed to e-mealz and it looks like it should be good, and i bought a crock-pot and a food scale! Hoping this will help with weightloss bc hubby and I are addicted to fast food because we dont cook hardly!

OUCH! Can you do some weight training (with some improvised heavy thing in your house if you don't have weights) and crunches? Won't be the same as cardio, but might help.

I had a depressing revelation last night. I joined 3FC in May of 2010 and realized that I've only since lost 11 lbs. It's always been something or another and last night I realized it's always going to be something or another. So enough is enough. I quit smoking 4.5 months ago. If I could do that with everything else going on, then I can sure as heck lose some weight. So here's to new beginnings and getting back to it with my group of ladies here to help keep me on track.

Just keep pushing KUKKIE I joined in 08 lost 35lbs and in May of 2010 was back to 250!!!! Everytime I get near 220 is gets HARD to break the 220 mark and here I am again Ive been in the 220s since oct. THis month I am determined to make the 2teens. For me getting below 220 is a HUGE miles stone I havent been below that weight since 2002!

Hello Sweethearts!

For the month of February, I would like to see some 180's stick around. I am SOOO SICK of the teasing from 196 to 189 for the last 2 months! :( I want to reach 183 this month! Keep doing my mile a day (resolution) and keep on plan (eating less carbs, avoid white starches, sugars and processed food in general), eat regularly, NO STARVING/BINGING *ahem* when I am stressed, and keep my resolve to be a healthy Valentine! :)

I was down 1.2 today, so I think the sodium from my socializing on the weekend has left at last. Today I checked back in with my diet doctor, I hadn't been in since before I left for Disney. He wasn't angry, but he did point out that if I'd stayed on plan I could be about 20lbs lighter than I am at the moment. Point taken. :^: I've been feeling much more focused and 'into this' again in the last week or so and I'm looking forward to making some new milestones. I lost 9 point something for January and I'm aiming for 10 in February.

Diana - Good job on your .4

Kristi - You'll be in Onederland in no time...so exciting! I'm rotten at curbing TOM cravings. Basically I have two options...if I crave sweets I have a 50 calorie skinny cow fudgsicle and if I'm craving savory I'll try a mini bag of popcorn...sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't :D Other than that, maybe just go to bed earlier?

Welcome back Coondocks!

Matilda -- See you in the 2-teens soon!

Vixsin -- Enjoy your snow day! Sounds like a great plan...how nice to have a day to yourself :) I'm secretly hoping that school won't be cancelled here, so DS can go to school, but I'll work from home.

MadameZombie -- There is a lot you can do in yoga and pilates without your foot. You could also google 'seated exercises' or 'chair exercises'.

CutieCourt - I'm sorry you're sick; I hope you are on the mend now. Cooking at home is sure to help you with your weight loss, just imagine all the sodium you'll be missing by not eating restaurant food. Great idea for a NS goal!

Kukkie -- Welcome back! You sound really determined, I can't wait to see you kick the scale's butt all over town. You are so right, if you can quit smoking you can manage this too.

 to everyone else!

I'm going to try and snack with more protein if I need it. PCOS makes it SO hard! My periods are FINALLY back on track - I was going 9+ months between periods (without intervention) and now I've had 3 cycles on my own! I'm kind of on the fence as to whether or not I still need my Metformin since I'm almost 100lbs lighter, and if I do, do I still need 2000mg daily? I need to call my doctor and find out what they want to do.

Well I made it home and thankfully was able to sneak out to the gym before the second wave of this storm hits. That was an awesome workout. I did 35 mins on the treadmill for 2.5 miles of walk/jog intervals and then did 30 mins on the elliptical. I burned roughly 650 cals. Love it!!! And I am feeling it already. I have a very hot shower in my future!!!

Have a great night all!

IMO- if you are feeling well and not feeling any ill effects to that dosage then it seems to be working wonders for you! Cycling you like normal and allowing you to lose greatly! Minimally I think 1000 is the lowest for it to be effective enough to make a difference. I asked to get put on it when I was around 220, cause I told the Doc the loss is so painfully SLOW for me, I average this whole time about 1.7lbs a week but he insisted that I keep doing it on my own. :dizzy: He is a fantastic Dr and I've had him my whole life but we both know that if we can help fight the I.R. then we could lose like normal!
Good Luck with the snacking- but isn't it great to have this sorta of problem? LOL_ like you I never cycled and to actually cycle like a normal woman made me feel like a woman and made me feel GREAT! I actually dont mind getting my cycle! It's like Yay, my body works! :carrot: BUT_ the bad part is I'm feeling the effects of cysts that have been nagging me on my right ovary! So every other month when I cycle off my right ovary I get very difficult to little loss for almost 2 weeks!

Good Morning!

I am starting to have signs and symptoms of TTOM. I went to bed cold, woke up hot and I woke up earlier than the alarm clock. :( So, I know what that means. I will stay on plan, but expect a slight gain from water weight. It is what it is. Time to get psyched up for it.

Have a great day, everyone! I hope you are all safe and sound with the bad weather. We had thunderstorms and rain last night.

I will be in the process of closing out my monthly books at work, so I won't time time to do a lot of personals for the next week. I will check in and read about all of your successes every day.

I did not get to go to the gym yesterday, nor will I be able to today, as we're in the middle of a crazy ice storm here in central Indiana.

Good day everyone!

I'm in zen mode :yoga: :D getting my thoughts together, pushing hard to my next goal! Holding steady at 208.8..I'm satisfied cause I've notice a pattern of not losing until after the 8th so I'm focused and giving this fat a fit :)

Morning all. Down .6 to 221.6 today. I didn't fulfill my dream of being out of the 220's by Feb 1, but I feel good about where I am. :)

Starbrite -- I'm sorry about the stress you are facing. Are you any closer to making your decision? Maybe the stress will lesson once your path is decided and you can move on to planning.

Diana -- Morning! TTOM and closing the books!? Bleh! ;)

Alsten -- Good job on your 1 lb loss

Kristi -- Congrats on your drop! We are being hit by the storm as well, it's a snow day for my DS, and a work at home day for me :)

Ona -- Channel those great positive thoughts! You can totally reach your 2nd goal this month...we are here to help you -- just say the word when you need some motivation or encouragement.

Hello folks, good morning. :coffee2:

Taking a minute for personals - really because I am stalling on getting up and shoveling, but also because I love you all too. ;)

Asherdoodles - great start! Keep it up.

Angie - I think you can make it! I'm looking to get out of the 200's this month ... and I better make it *grumbles*

OnaMi - zen is good on those days you hold steady. I have a LOT of them ... I should know!

Kristi - I know all about the weather keeping one from the gym, it's been making me VERY grouchy lately. You and I might hit 200 at just around the same time!

starbrite - hang in there!

Journey - Welcome to the thread, good luck!

Best of luck to everyone else who hasn't checked in for day 2 yet - see you soon!

And finally the Carter report: down 1 to 202, for a new low. \o/

I have watched the scale go down 2 days in a row! I spent January bouncing. I have come up with a new plan of attack and I’m hoping that two days down in a row means it is working. My food was pretty awesome for January, but I think my body was tired of the same exercise all the time. So my new plan is Zumba on M,W, and F with C25K on T,Th, and Sa. I’m going to leave Sunday open for whatever I’m in the mood for including a break if I need one that week. I also start with a personal trainer in the weight room today. Yay!

FitKristi - I totally feel your pain cyster! Do you like spicy? I go through a lot of wasabi peas during TOM. They give me a carby snack feel without being nearly as carby as some things I could eat. Plus, the wasabi makes me eat them more slowly and makes my snack last longer, I’m also a big fan of air popped popcorn. I buy the old fashioned plain kernals and some paper lunch bags. Put a couple handfuls of kernals in a bag, fold the top a couple times and pop it in the micro just like micro popcorn - only healthy.

MadameZombie - I have a bodybugg (counts calories burned) and a bad ankle, so I’ve learned some ways to burn calories while sitting. (Thankfully though, since I’ve lost some weight and gotten more fit I hardly ever have bad ankle days anymore.) If you sit up straight and put your arms in a jogging position and then twist your upper body back and forth, kinda like you are doing ‘the twist’ only just your upper body that burns nearly as many calories as a brisk walk. You can also do shadow boxing while seated and that burns quite a bit. If I combine the two and twist and shadow box with some light weights in my hands I get nearly the same calorie burn as I do if I jog at 4- 4.5mph. I hope your foot heals quickly. I imagine it hurts a lot, but don’t let the pain derail you, your body can heal better on good nutrients than on junk.

Kukkie - Try to look at it as you quit smoking without gaining all of the weight that most people gain when they quit instead of looking at it as only having lost 11 pounds. I know quitting is hard, been there, done that. I found that dieting is much easier now that I don’t smoke because I can taste my food more. Exercise is of course easier since I have healthier lungs. You tackled that one and you can tackle this one too.

Lnoelparis - I am totally with you. I spent the second half of January bouncing between 188 and 194.

Still holding steady at 214.4. Realized that I did a whole lot more exercise than just go to the gym yesterday. I did a little bit of free weight work at home and I shoveled my super long sidewalk twice yesterday. I am mentioning it all today because I am SO SORE!!!!!!!!!! OMG! LOL It feels good to be sore, but wow.

Not too sore to clean the whole house while my son is snowed in at my parent's house though! Time for me to get moving.

Be back in a bit.

down .4 to 170.8, despite the yummy Pat and Oscar's breadstick I ate last night for "desert." I've been on my period for 3 full weeks (talking to the doctor about that today - I think it's left over side effects from a med I am no longer taking), and the cravings are starting to get me. Thankfully (?), my stomach has been upset most of that time, so it starts bothering me if I get too snacky!

Oh yes, cucumbers are lovely - sprinkled with salt for that salty crunchy snack goodness. I don't get cravings as such, but salted cucumber slices are a favorite snack that definitely occupies the space that things like pretzels or rice crackers used to occupy.

Today I am 189, up 1 pound. I'm ok with it though. Yesterday was my first day in the weight room with the trainer, so I figure my muscles are holding water - good goddess do I hurt! Plus, I was so busy yesterday that my lunch was frozen and my hubby cooked dinner, so that means more sodium than usual. I had over a 1300 calorie deficit, so I certainly know I didn't gain a pound of fat overnight, lol. I'm actually a little surprised at it being only 1 pound all things considered.

Morning folks! Hope everyone's doing well. I managed to get my car out of a parking lot and driveway that was pretty much solid ice this morning, and get myself to work for the first time since Monday. Not sure whether I'll be able to get back into my parking spot tonight though!

Fortunately I had lots of good on-plan food available to me at home, I had my treadmill and some shoveling for exercise, and I managed to do pretty well with the plan. Today I weighed in at 202, holding at the low I hit yesterday. Liking my chances of seeing 201 tomorrow ...

Matilda - that's impressive, I don't think I will ever be a jogger even for 20 minutes! At least not before I invest in a steel-reinforced sports bra ...

Cutie - nice loss, I really like your goal of increasing your cooking, what a clever idea. I can't stress enough how much doing lots of cooking has made this sustainable for me - especially lots of weekend cooking with planned leftovers for during-week meals.

Coondocks - good job, you can get out of the 170s.

Asherdoodles - hold steady! the weight will come off if you trust your plan.

fitkristi - great job. It's interesting how having a milestone in view can affect our behavior - sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. Keep focused on that 100lb milestone when the snacks start singing your name ....

Alsten, Bulletproof - welcome to the thread and good luck!

starbrite - Congrats on the loss! I know in the US the huge winter storm affected a LOT of people, that's definitely keeping people busy and making it hard to hit their routines.

Okay that's it for this page and I'd best get working now. Take care everyone.

And I had a HUGE bounce up this morning of 2.2lbs to 216.6  I was expecting the gain yesterday after all of the exercise. I am so incredibly sore from shoveling. I could only do half of my sidewalk yesterday. So I'll have to do the other half today. Admittedly, I was snackier than usual yesterday and my day was heavier carbs than normal. I'm not scared though, I'm going to the gym today. I have to shovel today too so that'll take care of my upper body work. The scale will get moving again. I'm not skerrrrd!

I ended up gaining 1.5 yday morning but didn't get a chance to post. I think it was a result of too much water crammed into the end of the evening before. But, I'm down 2.1 today from yesterday at 194.3 which technically means down 0.6 from the month so far. Off to a good start.

The big move happens two weeks from today, so I really need to keep focused throughout the entire process. A big thank you to you ladies for welcoming me back with open arms and making sure I stay positive!

Up 1.4 today...no big surprise...I ate the chips :( so moving on to better days. Having a nice dinner of lemon marinated chicken breast with mushrooms and snow peas. I've developed a bit of an infection in my belly button from the surgery, so off to see my surgeon tomorrow although my family doc gave me an antibiotic today.

Starbrite -- Congratulations on your 1.3!! Glad the scale is moving again for you.

Diana -- Good job on your .2!

Matilda -- You're doing great! Congrats on your loss. Looking good!!

Coondocks -- Awesome .2! You are soooo close, any day now :)

Vixsin -- Ouch! I hate those unexpected gains...I can face it when I know I messed up, but when you've been mostly on plan and exercised it's hard to take

Ona -- Fantastic! Great job on your 1.2!!

Kukkie -- Sounds like a good start for the month. Just think, when you move you can have a fresh start... a new home...a new healthier way of eating and exercising :)

I just want to say how HAPPY i am that i live in texas, after reading everyones posts about shoveling driveways and being snowed in for days. Geez! All we get it ice, and today I got to leave work because everyone was expecting freezing rain.

Im pretty excited about cooking, the hubby has been liking it alot too and we have been eating earlier like 5pm or 6pm and I have been having a low calorie snack around 8ish, like sugar free pudding or something like that. It seems to be working out pretty good.

I am pretty excited that I am in a new decade of weight, 230's wow. I was looking back at our posts from December and we have come so so far.

Thinking about joining the YMCA again, I have really been missing zumba lately. :) Hope all is well and everyone is staying warm.

Matilda : Feb is your month!!! I cant wait to celebrate with you on seeing the two-teens!!! Running has definitely made a difference in me. I can honestly say that 90% of my weight loss was from doing C25K! Plus I feel stronger after going for a run! Your pics are motivating! Keep up the good work!

Carter: You are soooo close to 200!!! Im rooting for you!! Shoveling & Treadmill, I would have been SOOO sore!!

Vix: Youre silly...HUGE bounce, whatever! You know its not real:) Youre kicking butt!!

Ona: Awesome loss!!!!!! Congrats on the 1.2!

Reptogirl: HI! :welcome2: Nice loss! Its nice to be able to have a place to track daily. Youll end up falling in "love" with this thread!

Chloe: Yay for the 1.7! Keep it up!

Coco: HI!!!! :welcome: This thread has really helped me tremendously! Glad your joining us!

Kukkie: Woohoo on the loss so far! Moving is such an exciting time!! Congrats on the house!!! Decorating was my favorite part!

Gale: High Five for the 230's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angie: Ouch! Hope everything gets better. That dinner sounds absolutely delicious! Yum Yum!

Starbrite: Shake it off! Its probably just water weight! I have to remind myself that a "real" pound is 3500 calories over my daily intake. I remember what someone told me when i would see pounds go up and down and get discouraged. "Its like an airplane, when a plane goes to land it doesnt go straight down, it soars down and sometimes drifts ups a little before the wheels hit the ground". For some reason it stuck with me.

Wow, i cannot believe its 1am. Shower and bedtime!

That silly pound is still there, but my muscles are still sore, so not surprised. My body is going to have to get used to this weight room stuff. Yesterday evening was also pretty stressful for me, and we all know stress can mess with us. I’m not worried about it, silly scale. I took my measurements yesterday and I lost 3.25 inches since Jan. 3, with 0.75 of it being my waist. I also found some really awesome pants with a hidden drawstring inside of the waistband, so I’m really excited about having pants that I can keep wearing for a while. :yay:

Matilda - Good job on the jogging. I’m working on Couch to 5K right now and lovin it. You look great, btw.

Kukkie - Congrats on a good start to the month

Angie - I hope it’s all cleared up soon, an infection in the belly button can’t be too comfy.

Cutie - The eating earlier is one that I’ve been working on too, it really does seem to help.

I am up a pound today. I guess it is just normal weight fluctuation. I had like 600 calories left last night for dinner, but I am not sure exactly how much I ate because I didn't prepare the food. Some of my family members have been in and out of the hospital lately so we were getting together for a meal. It was home cooked, and I had two small fajitas. I only put a few pieces of chicken on them, lettuce, tomatoes, and light sour cream. I had about six tortilla chips, and a spoonful of beans.

I hope I didn't go over too bad.

well lets see, im up 1 lb to 171.8 this morning.
I ate late again last night, salty foods and didn't drink enough water . . not to mention drank way late.
I twisted my knee slipping on ice yesterday evenign, so that was fun and now im sore and swollen.
Ohhh, and TOM is due in a day or two.

The weird thing in all of this . . . I don't feel fat at all today. I'm very aware all of a sudden that my hips, are not as wide as I seem to think they are, and my stomach doesnt stick out like I think it does.

I feel almost svelte and very sexy today.
so funk all the other stuff :) :)

Okay, so I caught up on entering my food in my Lose It app on my iPod and guess what? Even though I made a few bad choices this week I was still within my calorie budget on most days, and even with the few days I went over it was never by more than 150 calories, so I'm still good for the week. I have to remember with daily weighing not to let the slow downs from sodium and water retention get to me -- it's about the long haul, right? I feel better now. :D

Evenin' kids! :)

Had a great workout tonight. Walked/jogged for 4 miles tonite for about 55 mins. :yay: I was pumped. It felt really good to run. I was doing intervals again and added just a smidge of an incline while I was running today. OMG!!!!! Just putting it to a 1% incline, I could feel the different muscles working in my legs. It felt AWESOME!!!!!! I burned roughly 600ish calories tonight! I am psyched.

My supper had more sodium than I would have liked but I was at my parents house and was working with what they had. The soup I ended up having was some chicken, bean, vegetable yumminess that mom added some extra chicken to. OMG!!! I wasn't entirely sure of the calories so I over-estimated just to be on the safer side. Needless to say, I am STILL drinking water at 10 o'clock at night. LOL I'm going to be up 20 times tonight! LOL

Court: You make me smile. :)

Coon: Thanks for helping me remember the very difficult to find silver lining in shoveling. :)

Bonjour mes petits poussins !!
Been having a roller coaster of a time lately with my scale and my emotions- I'm sure there is a correlation between the two things. The job I spent the last weekend applying for, is no longer going to happen. I'm gutted. We spent so long discussing whether we would move bak to the UK, asked the kids, looked at houses etc. Just a blow to not even have a chance.
I feel better today, I slept and despite having an extremely late night, feel more positive. I'm generally a very positive person, but there has been so much thrown at me lately I feel dizzy :dizzy:
Thanks Angie for reminding us all that the ups and downs of daily weighing are NORMAL ! and that we shouldn't get twisted or upset about it. I have found lately my weight is bouncing like Tigger, but I have not changed anything about the way I eat. I'm sure therefore that it is to do with my emotional state.
Anyhow, waffling enough here - down 1.6 to 183.4- boy will I be glad to see the back of the 180's - I really did not like them !!!

Good Morning

I am up too early for a Saturday morning! DH has been sick all night. Our dog (Magnum) decided it would be fun to get up and play at 6:30. So now I am drinking my first cup of coffee and I have some clothes going to clean up from DH being sick. TTOM did start. I had a great weigh in this morning, although I haven't had enough sleep. My weight will probably bounce back up sometime during TTOM. I will be mentally prepared for that.

I will have a challenge tonight as I'm going out for dinner with a friend and then to a movie. The movie should not be too bad, since we will have had dinner before that I can easily forgo the popcorn and just have a drink. Dinner is at an Italian restaurant...one that kind of fits both our needs -- they offer gluten free pasta and crusts for pizza for me, and plenty of organic ingredients for her, and is still within my budget. My friend and her DH are real restauranteurs and think nothing of spending a couple of hundred dollars on a dinner out, which is not in my everyday budget.

Hi Jennie!

Vixsin -- Great job on your exercise...the soup sounds yummy!

Starbrite -- I'm sorry the job opportunity fell through. I hope you life settles down a bit and you'll have less stress to deal with. Congrats on your loss today, 1.6 is great!

Ona -- Thanks :) Sometimes I feel like I'm just stating the obvious, but I really do have to remind myself from time to time to 'let in some fresh air' to my thinking because I get too invested in seeing the scale go down every single day. Enjoy your walk :running:

Diana -- Lol, this week sounds like you are living Murphy's Law. TTOM :headache:, closing the books:comp:, dog woke you up early :tired: and now you get to clean up vomit:faint:. Our lives are so glamorous...lol..have 2 coffee's please!:coffee: Congrats on being down 1.2 despite all of that!

I know what you mean Angie,i have to keep saying affirmative, inspiring things to myself too...like today I'm up .8 to 208.4. I know i went over my calories a little yesterday..got slack(could use a good BM too)but I'll have a good day today and as long as I'm focus and keep at it... I know I'll get there.Hope you have a good evening out.:) thank you,the Run was nice..nothing like the morning air

 Diana, almost at your finally goal  how does it feel? I was talking to my mentor the other day about how do i stop losing weight when I'm at the point where i don't want to lose any more cause sometimes i feel like i won't be able to stop losing or trying to lose.

when i get to goal i feel like I'm gonna freak out if i gain an oz and will be right back in that mental mode of trying to lose weight again :dizzy: he said:

FWIW, you'll just eventually hit a plateau and you'll either decide to change things up again to continue to push lower or you'll come to a point where the weight is within where you are OK with and you are happy with your level of activity and food intake. It's more a mental shift IMO as you come to terms with the scale no longer being your primary motivator and positive feedback mechanism and you find something else to take it's place

Great job on the 1.2! hope your DH is feeling a little better now.Thank you,my run/walk was nice.I be prepared when i got out... it started misting a little, other people was running for cover but i whip out my umbrella and kept on going :D

Good Morning Kids!!! :grouphug:

My scale rewarded me for my efforts this morning with a WHOOOOSH!!!! I am down 1.8 to 214.0 on the money! :woohoo:

I am still sore from my workout last night. Had a blueberry cake donut this morning because the DS and I were on the fly. But we ended up coming into my job for a bit so I can get a few things done and LUCKILY I had a package of oatmeal here so all is NOT lost!!! I just looked it up and the donut had 290 and my oatmeal has 160. That's not too terrible for breakfast. I'll keep it lean and mean for the rest of the day.

More snow today. Hopefully not TOO much. I feel yet another upper body workout coming today. LOL

Ona Great thinking and planning ahead about the rain. I've been hormonal about my weight this morning. I have changed my ticker goal weight a couple of times. I will probably change it again before the day is up. I think when I get to goal, I will up my calories about 100 and see what happens. I've been shooting for 45 min - 1 hour of cardio a day. Maybe I will keep it at 45 minutes and again see what happens. I will continue to count calories and workout, though. I know that works to lose weight. Some magic combination should work to maintain, right?

Vixsin Congrats on the 1.8 pounds!

Matilda About celebrating, I don't really do that. I am totally weird. :dunno: I do plan on buying some more jeans. The ones I have are looking baggy in the butt! I actually have a butt, but it doesn't look like it right now.

My stupid pound not only did not go away, it brought a friend over to play and my scale decided I am 190 today. I’m still not upset though. I was doing weights again yesterday. I am so sore today it is unbelievable, I love it though. I know that is why the scale is up. I know that they are not fat pounds because I have had a deficit of at least 1,000 calories every day this week and usually more than 1,000. My body just has to get used to this weight lifting business. No weights the next couple days, it’ll probably go down just in time to jump back up on Tuesday after a lovely Monday afternoon with the trainer in the weight room.

Coondocks - Ya gotta love the sexy days! I hope you have more and more of them.

Angie - Yes, the long haul. I keep having to remind myself of that the last few days too. The long haul is definitely what counts. We will get there. And I am going to do my best to enjoy the ride. You are stronger than the foods you do not intend to eat and you can have a POP day!

Starbrite - I’m sorry about the job. Congrats on the scale though.

Diana - What a day! I agree, 2 cups of coffee are in order. I hope DH feels better soon and that TOM is not more of a jerk than he has to be.

Vixsin - Congrats on the whoosh.

My foot is healing up so I'm hoping to be back at the gym by Monday! I've been losing and I'm down to 173.4 this week. It's nice to see on the scale but I know that it's usually water weight I retain after lifting. Still... It's nice to see numbers going doooowwwwwn. CRAZY busy day - can't do personals today I'm afraid, I hope everyone's doing well. -But I did want to duck and make my report, because I woke to 200 this morning - much to my surprise, since I overate a bit yesterday and drank a martini, usually a sure recipe for a bounce.

Anyway - the bounce may come tomorrow instead, but I'm going to enjoy it while I have it. 200 - that's 75 pounds gone. Phew!

Laffalot: Welcome! :welcome3:

Personally, I now love being a daily weigher. The fluctuations do happen. And sometimes they happen often! But the great thing about it is being able to figure out WHY they happened (too much salt the night before, lack of sleep, etc). Fluctuations come from any number of things.

Weighing daily has really helped me to feel in total control of my plan. If that is a feeling you are looking for, I encourage you to join us and start posting. This is a GREAT group!!!!

Hi Everyone - I'm wondering about weighing myself daily. I'm afraid that fluctuations will get in my way (or weigh lol ) of sticking to my program. So how do you manage that? Any suggestions, etc.? I'll check back again.......THANKS!!

Welcome! The fluctuations are part of life. I don't like the fluctuations upward, but fluctuations downward happen too and I don't want to miss those! ;) If I only weighed once a week, maybe I'd catch a bad break and weigh in one one of those upward fluctuation days! Weighing in every day makes each individual weigh-in less of a major event; it makes each individual number matter less.

Also, I am a major serious procrastinator - I mean SERIOUS. This is a problem in any aspect of my life. I will never do something today that I have a week to get done. I will never do something in the morning that I have until the afternoon to complete. I will never do something now that I don't absolutely have to have done until 30 minutes from now.

So - If I had a whole week before my weigh-in, I would be tempted to be lax on my plan today and tomorrow, believing I had the rest of the week to "make it up." This is not hypothetical - I actually did this when I was on Weight Watchers some years ago! :o It doesn't work for me. Weighing every day is a daily reminder that every choice I make counts, and if I make a bad choice today, I can't "make it up" by making two good choices tomorrow.

It has its pros and cons for me. I do tend to be pretty disappointed if I'm up because of water weight or something. But if I go off plan and I'm up the next day, it does tend to get my attention so I get back on track. That's why I do it.

Cutie Great job on the 1.2 pounds!

Chloe The sodium will get me every time, too. Give it a couple days, it will be gone!

Losing it Soy sauce! Yep, that will get me, too! :o

Laffalot In the beginning, daily weighing is more difficult. You are not familiar with your daily fluctuations. Once you learn about these it becomes easier and you know what to expect. I will even post ahead of time that I am going to my favorite Japanese restaurant and I will expect a gain tomorrow. I know now that I gain about 2 pounds during TTOM. I know what to expect now and it doesn't bother me as badly. I don't like the gains, but they happen. Also, some of us have gains when we don't get enough sleep or if we eat too late. We could be in our calorie ranges and worked our butts off with our workouts, but the lack of sleep or eating too late will cause a slight gain. It will resolve itself in a day or two. A problem that can arise from weighing once a week is what if you did everything you were suppose to do that week. The day before your weight in, you ate a high sodium meal, but you were still in your calorie range. You weigh for that week, and you gained 3 pounds. You would think that whole week was a waste. A lot of people give up from that type of frustration.

Thinning Congrats on your 1.8 pounds!

Ok girls, need your advice now. This is sooooo weird. I was down 1.3, then up 1.3, down 1.6 now today up 1.8 :dizzy: I have consistently lost for the last 10 months, and now all I seem to be doing is bouncing! I have been POP, just a few late nights. Could this be a plateau- I have not lost much since before ski-ing. I truly am dazed and confused. Calories in versus calories out right? I've not changed or strayed, whats going on ???
Laffalot - this is the only downside to daily weighing, when you hit a period of bouncing for no apparent reason- it's confusing and distracting, but like Diana said if the bouncing up happens at the end of weekly weighing I think it would be more harmful. Additionally posting here every day with the weights, good or bad, really helps!

Good Morning!

I had a TTOM bounce up. I expected it. Continuing with my eating and exercise plan and staying focus on what I need to do. The bounce back up could have also been from the sheer amount of food I ate last night. I was within my calorie range, though. I made mushroom and chicken alfredo over broccoli slaw instead of using fettuccine noodles. It was so good but it was pile of food! I normally have to make those type of substitutions because a serving of pasta is so small it probably wouldn't fill me up. I can eat a whole plate of broccoli slaw for half the calories of 1/2 serving of pasta. :D

Calories for yesterday: 1605 + Morning Joe

Weigh In: 160.4 (TTOM)

Up: 1.2 pounds

Starbrite I would give it a couple more weeks before you make any changes in your calories. It could be a plateau. Look at everything you are doing calories and exercise. Have you made any changes at all? Are you exercising? Maybe add 15 extra minutes of cardio to your routine. Don't lower the calories, yet.

Kristi Hi

Angie

Sodium got me again, but I won't sweat it, I didn't eat popcorn and I managed to eat on plan, but it was restaurant food. I can't get in to page 2 to edit my post though, it says there is a problem with data :dizzy:

Starbrite -- Maybe you need a change in your plan or your activity to jump-start things? Maybe a different form of exercise?

Diana -- I do the same thing with spaghetti squash...never thought of using broccoli slaw. Do you steam it first or just use it raw?

Angie You can boil it or steam it. I boiled it so it would be quicker. I used to do spaghetti squash, but it takes longer to cook. The family doesn't eat the way I eat. I normally make them something different, so I want it to be easy .

188.6, down 1.4 of those silly 2 pounds. I figure I will be down again tomorrow and then up again after I meet the trainer in the weight room tomorrow afternoon. It’s all good though, I’m gonna have sexy muscles!

Diana - Yeah, that’s why I’m completely not worried about the little 2 pound blip on the scale. I’ve decided that since the weight lifting will mess with my scale I have to make sure that I measure more often and plan to do so on the 3rd of each month. Your dinner last night sounds yummy,

MadameZombie - So glad you are healing well. Enjoy being able to get back to the gym.

Carter - Congrats! That is awesome.

Laffalot - For me it is because if I weigh in only once a week then I might catch it on a bad day and that might mess with me. Also, if I try doing it only once a week then I might let a week slide for some reason, and then it is 2 weeks, and then I weight 245 pounds again. If I’m weighing daily and I miss one day it’s not such a big deal as if I miss a weekly weigh in, it’s easier to get back on track. It also helps keep me from getting into habits like thinking ‘oh I can have this brownie now, weigh in is still 5 days away’. I know me, and I know I’d do that.

Hey, hope everyone's having a good weekend - I have unexpected (but a delightful surprise) houseguests, so I have been quite a bit busy!

Anyway bounced up to 201 this morning - expected the bounce to come, as I didn't really think I'd earned yesterday's 200. ;) I'll ride it out, and look forward to getting back to 200 and beyond!

I swear... we must be linked somehow. Last week I was at 178 and today I'm 172... I thought I was crazy but I see that you are having the same success. I'm kind of excited to see your progress since we're similar in goal weight and seem to be similar in how our bodies react to eating and exercise. Sooo... HI! And congrats so far!

Ohhh a buddy! I'm excited :D Thanks, and you too! I'm really liking these whooshes -u- They make me very very happy. Lets see how long it takes us to make it to our goal! <3 Thank you ParadiseFalls!!

I know it's stressful Strabrite, :hug:but try to just collect your thoughts. If you've review, analyze everything and if you haven't eaten anything w/a lot of sodium and been POP then you know you're doing all you can and that's all you can do.Everything will work out, stressing over it won't help :hug:Just keep focusing on eating right, moving more and making it a sustainable lifestyle then eventually the scale will work in your favor.

Down 1.2 from yesterday to a new low of 213.2!!! :yay:

Had a great weekend with my boy. Went into work for a bit on Saturday and got many errands done. Yesterday, I decided for a day of fun with my boy so after church I took him rollerskating for the afternoon. When we got home, he stayed outside with the neighborhood kids and played. He was one tired (and viciously cranky) boy last night! :) What a great day!

So I dont know how many calories I burned, but I was moderately rollerskating for 2 hours or so. It was so fun!

Oh! And let's talk about my HUUUUUGE NSV's for this weekend!!!!!!! I went into The Hope Closet (or should I say the "Gosh, I HOPE this fits!" closet) and ALL of the jeans that are in there fit now! OMG! SO HAPPY!!!!! All of the shirts fit. And even this one sweater that I bought and LOVED and was way too small for me, it even fits! I didn't know what to do this morning. I was so excited! I wanted to share with you all! :)

Morning all. I'm down .6 today, but still a bit up from where I was this time last week. I have another dinner out tonight, but it's a restaurant where it is very easy for me to stay on plan, just might have more sodium issues, we'll see.

Starbrite -- It's frustrating, but if you are doing the right things you'll see your efforts come to fruition soon. I had another thought, what about changing the balance of your calories? ie/ If you eat 30% carbs, 20% protien etc...maybe change that up a bit? Or another idea I has was to eat your carbs earlier, so keep the carbs you have, but try to eat them all before say 5:00 and then only eat protein and veg after 5:00? Just some thoughts. I hope things move along for you soon.

Congrats to all the 'losers' this weekend!

Ah, rats. 203 this morning - up from 201 yesterday and 200 the day before.

Like I said yesterday, not a huge surprise - though 203 was a bit more of a surprise than I was hoping for. ;) I had a slightly indulgent weekend, and an indulgent weekend now and again is part of my plan and part of my life - I know it means I don't lose as fast as some people, and I'd like to be okay with that.

So - deep breath - surprise house-guests gone, back to my weekday routine, laying off the booze for a couple of weeks, etc. etc. The bounce will recede, I wasn't so indulgent that any of it is actual fat!

I've got to dive into work today - just wanted to come in and own that 203 instead of burying my head in the sand. Have a great day everyone!

Vixsin and Matilda - I'm so happy for both of you!!!!! Congratulations!

I'm down 1.7 to 195.3 - still haven't got rid of the gain from Saturday, but that's a pretty nice whoosh. I had some of the tea left over from my detox so I used that last night along with plenty of water during the day, healthy eating and a solid 7 hours of sleep and then an hour of I just don't want to get out of bed. I have to say though, I'm feeling quite refreshed this morning! And the best part is that yesterday I cooked for today as well, so I can focus on packing this evening!

Bulletproof,if what you're doing is working for you then stay with it. If you get to the point where you feel as if your not losing any more then tweak some things..less carbs, more protein and watching your sugar intake..then the weight will come off.you'll work it out :) it seems like a forever learning experience on a journey to a new way of eating and healthier lifestyle :)

i went over on my calories today by a lot. i had something around 2056 calories. but i stayed with in my carb range so i'm hoping it's not going to hurt me too much. some how i'm down 2.6 pounds today. which is kind of crazy, but i guess at this weight it comes off pretty quick at least in the beginning. still i expect a gain or possibly just no change tomorrow.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Still kinda busy at work, so I wasn't able to do personals yesterday.

ThinningVegan :bday2you:

Calories for yesterday: 1465 + :coffee2:

Weigh In: 160 (TTOM)

Down: .6

I have always had TTOM problems. TMI alert! It's always been very heavy, very long, and comes too often. I have noticed the last couple of months, that it seems to be starting on time. It is not as heavy as it was. It's still pretty long from start to finish, but I think it is better than it was.

Right now it's TTOM, but it still hasn't progressed past the "spotting" stage. It is very light. I don't know if it will get any heavier this time. You know how you can tell where you are at with it (meaning cramps, etc). I'm not having the cramps that I normally have.

If the weight loss has helped with TTOM, I will be thrilled.

Headed to Hip Hop Hustle today - I wish I got more sleep last night. My 18 month old kept me up every 2 hours. I can't wait until her surgery finally happens - she's getting tubes in her ears, and I'm hopeful that it will help her from getting up so much. I somehow dropped that .8 back off today. I was really surprised because I did weight training for 2 hours yesterday and I didn’t get dinner until 10 last night and it was curry, homemade curry, but still! It was delicious, but I was still expecting the sodium, especially so late at night, plus the weights to cause a serious bounce up today. That’s ok, I won’t complain :)

ThinningVegan - I hope you had an awesome birthday. You just gotta keep in mind it’s the long haul that really counts.

Diana - Weight loss helps lots of women with it, so hopefully you are one of them. That would be a good bonus.

FitKristi - I don’t know what Hip Hop Hustle is, but it sounds like fun. I’m sorry your baby kept you up, the poor dear, I hope she can get her tubes soon so that she can be more comfortable.
