How will you move in February?

Everyone is welcome to post fitness and exercise goals for February 2011 here and then track them through the month. Log your workouts, your minutes, the times you take the steps instead of the elevators, anything that gets you moving more whether the goal is big or small.

State your goal in a post. I will add your goal to the goal list. When you reach your goal, it gets turned Red.

February is a short month, so I'm going for 1300 minutes again. I'm also going to continue putting a * on entries where I avoided doing the same workout two days in a row because that helped my variety.

My goal is to make it to the gym 12 times and workout at home at least six. I will be traveling for work this month so I'm hoping that I will be able to reach my goals.:D

I did pretty good working out last month, but in December this thread motivated me, checking in every day. Since its a short month. My goal will be 1000 min this month.

hi all id also like to join u ppl ,i joined the gym about a week ago so exercising is still new to me so ill do 965 minutes of exerccise in feb

my goal is 1000 minutes. I do need to take it easy as i'm still not cleared for hardcore exercising since my c-section.... but 1000 minutes... i can do it!

My Goal for this month, is to do something everyday. I like doing the 60 minutes of step a day and I would like to keep up with that. But I think It would be good If I took at least one day off a week. I don't want to over do it.

So I guess 24/28 and 60 minutes a day.

I been wanting to jump into HIGH gear with working out and jumping right in might be DRASTIC but I been ready for soooo LONG so my goal is to do 20/28 days for a total of 1200 minutes.... Wish me luck!

I am gonna try for 1500 minutes! Last month, I only tried for 1000 and I know I can do that plus more this month.
1 . 45 minutes of cardio boxing plus 30 minutes of treadmill.

I joined this group in January and it really motivated me, and I hit my goal of 168 kms and passed it!

2011 kilometers in 2011 means 155 kms in February!

And here's my February so far:

1. 3 walk + 5 gym = 8 kms


Total for February: 8 kms

It's a little hard to calculate how many minutes of workout I do a month, since I'm following 'Insanity' and each workout can vary anywhere from 30 minutes, to 60. I will aim for 1000 minutes, 24/28 days this month. I'll post the amount of minutes my workout was and what kind of workout I did that day :)

:mad:Im In on this one. I bombed January. Snowed in and didnt do dvds at home totally my fault :mad:. my goals are 1) yoga :yoga: 3 times a week~no excuses 2) cardio 3 times week :tread:. I did stepping before I may use my evening sports as motivation. Im working on goal and the end is in sight supper motivated to get there. wooo hooo lets kick some bootie ladies!! I want to knit a pair of socks by the end of the month dont know if that counts :D lol

So my FEBRUARY goal this month is more intense :dizzy:

Agh, I'm still panting! We got no breaks in that workout, and I'm starting to notice the stretches are usually the time I sweat the most. I lasted a little longer without completely stopping to rest or get water, so I'm happy about that. I've still got a long ways to go!

I have already planned to at least walk one mile a day every day until I reach my goal weight, and probably even long after that :) (Not including all of the walking I do, just walking excercise)

On monday night my sister challenged me to walk 100 miles by April 5th :p

Feb. 1st - April 5th: 64 DAYS! (more than 1.5 miles per day) :o

So far I have 5 miles down ... 95 to go! :D

I'd like to join this challenge as well, but I JUST started exercising (literally on Monday) and have never exercised regularly before, so my goals for this month are really modest. Right now I am only fast-walking on the treadmill for 30 min, but plan to start with some weight training next week. I am hoping that joining this challenge will help me to stay on track!

Goals for February: Make it to the gym 20 of 28 days, add weight training 2x per week, and increase to 45 min on the treadmill on cardio days by the end of the month.

xXLosingItXx: most of us repost everyday -- it helps facilitate a little conversation during the month. Although, we aren't very chatty (we're busy exercising!) so if you prefer to update your first post, that's fine, too. I keep my log as a notepad file on my desktop so I can easily cut and paste from there. That also lets me save a copy in a folder of exercise logs so I know have them going all the way back to September of 2009!

I was dragging at the gym today. I had almost no energy. Could be a couple factors. The gym didn't open until noon because of the weather, and I'm used to going in the morning after breakfast. I also feel really awful with this cold. I hope being sick doesn't negatively affect my weight loss.

My goal is to get back on my interval training on my treadmill, and my crunch and squat ruitine and be able to out run my boyfriend <3

Oh and interval training increase by 1-5 on speed progressively.

I don't think I've ever sweat so much in any of my workouts before, and at the same time, I don't think I've ever lasted so long. What a boost of energy I had today, and I really did dig deeper, no matter how tired I was. Satisfying workout indeed, and very proud of myself.

No gym today (because husband begged me to stay home with him tonight; we haven't had much time together this week). SO, instead I got a jump start on the weight training I'm planning to add next week by going through my planned exercises with 8 Lb. dumbbells. I hate the squats! :lol: But, I enjoyed it other than that.

Doesn't count as a gym day (because I didn't get in any real cardio, and the weights were kind of stop and start as I figured out the proper technique), but something is definitely better than nothing. And, I'll look a little less idiotic when I try this stuff at the gym next week!

Naomi! that's a great goal! Being able to outrun your bf! haha Im with you on that one!

Chickadee! i hate squats too.. but they are worth the turmoil! hehe I do them while watching tv.. helps take my mind off what im doin!


Ive done 2 days of walk away the pounds.. getting bored of this one dvd already.. i think im gonna try another one that i think i can handle before im cleared by doc. as long as there's not a lot of jumping i should be ok.. im just scared to mess up what's healed so far... but i feel so good when i work out!

:/ my exercise goal changed but still 7 hours just on an elliptical and not a treadmill. parents were awesome and we went to buy an elliptical and when we got home my dad put it together I turned on our treadmill and it didnt turn on. Its like 10 years old and was over heating and shutting off after I did a mile so guess we got the elliptical at a good time!

2/1: 1hour 20min
2/2: 1hour
2/3: 30min (hope I can get back on it after coming home from class around 9:30 at night lol)

bullet : perfect timing on the elliptical! I like them sooo much better than a tread mill.. i get so bored on those!

I bought the biggest loser power walk dvd today and i'm liking it :) and not just because of bob. hehe. i swear biggest loser dvds are the bomb. I have 3 now. two older ones and this newer one. I can't wait to colect them all ( and use them!!) hehe

Okay here it is for today.

2= 65 minutes today. 60 step and 5 for hula hoop!
3= 60 minutes of step

And I just ordered the rise for the wii and another dvd for the regular step. So I can change the workout around a bit. So far so good. Keep it up ladies. and stay warm!

A lot of control and power needed for todays workout. I love doing Squats and lunges, and when he makes you do it slowly for a full minute, hold for another, and then do pulses...oh my. There was a lot in this workout, and I loved it. My Glutes, Quads, Hamstring and Calfs are really tight right now! Haha

I figured out how to keep my husband from foiling my gym plans: go to the gym straight from work! :carrot:

I felt really good on the treadmill today, and felt like I could have gone a lot longer than I did. Could the pathetic bit I've done so far (3 days this week) be helping already? I feel like I will definitely be able to up my minutes to 45 before the end of the month. I have to figure out how to keep from getting dizzy when I get off though :lol:

chickadee: ifind coming home before heading to the gym is a recipe for disaster for me too! yay to go on heading straight there!

imjust headed out to get my butt doing a dvd. my legs are a little sore from yesterday's dvd and that makes me feel good. i was feeling like these low impact dvds weren hard enough to get results.. but th eburn tells me otherwise!

I fell short of my goal in January. I ended up depressed and sick the last week.

My goal for February is 1,200 mins of exercise. I've done about 15 min so far. I still have a bit to go ;)

I feel really good about getting to the gym 5 days in a row (including Mon 1/31) despite being sick with a cold. I'm hoping the scale is nice to me tomorrow morning!

well... biggest loser power walk 3-4 complete for the day! huzzuh!
im thinking i do need to up what im eating or lay off of the exercise so much though.. i go to the doctor on the 8th for my post pardum appt.. but im just nevrous that my breastmilk is decreasing already... and i dont want to mess up my healing incision. it's hard though.. because im so in the right mind frame to be hardcoring it! my body just doesnt want to cooperate.
BUT that being said.... its friday! and im excited! my parents are coming next week for a few weeks to see their new grandson! and im sooo excited for the extra sets of hands! lol

journey to me i really like the power walk dvd.. it has a lot of the same moves as leslie's.. but some new ones too.. its a great way to break up the leslie overload! i recommend it! get it! :)

Fauxtini~ I keep meaning to tell you how adorable your little guy is! I have four kiddos and I'm all done but everytime I see your pic my uterus growls a little about how it wants another one. LOL You mentioned your incision, did you have a c/s? I've had 3 (last pg was twins) and I can tell you that you really do need to take it at least a little easy. As for your milk supply, I would definitely make sure you're eating a bit more as well. As long as you're not eating junk, you'll be fine weight wise. I remember after the girls were born, I barely had time to eat or drink water and next thing I know, I'm flat on my back dizzy as all get out and unable to move. I was dehydrated and hadn't been eating enough. (I made up for all that missed food later on though, lemme tell ya! ;) LOL) Anyway, do take care of your body, if you go to fast you could end up not being able to exercise at all. On the flip side--it's awesome that you're so gung-go about exercising!!!! :)

I went to the gym on Friday night at my usual time, and it was closed! Apparently it closes earlier on Fridays than Mon-Thurs. :mad: I was really disappointed. Apparently it closes at 6pm on Sat-Sun as well... not great for an evening person! But I got there during the day today.

February is starting out as a slow month for me. Went to bed after 2 AM last night and could barely drag myself out of bed this morning. No gym, but I did walk to the office...

And here's my February so far:

1. 3 walk + 5 gym = 8 kms
2. 3 walk + 7 gym + 3 walk = 13 kms
3. 3 walk = 3 kms
4. Friday = cook day!
5. Shabbat -- no walking
6. 3 kms walking


Total for February: 27 kms

idream: thanks for all of the advice :) i appreciate it. this is my first baby.. first surgery.. a lot of firsts! I've decided to take it a bit easier because i was wearing myself out. my eating is on track and i have upped my meals a bit as to not mess with milk supply.

maybe it's TMI but i did start bleeding a bit yesterday... so i knew it was DEF time to CHILL the heck out!

My parents are coming this week to visit the baby for the first time. TGhey live in nova scotia canada and im in arkansas.. they arn't much of the avid flyers.. but they cant wait to meet their only grandson! :) oh and they havnt met my 'baby daddy'/bf before either.. talk about a whole lot of firsts for everyone. My bf is pretty much rattled and nevrous about meeting them. luckily, i have the coolest parents in the world!
i guess i should tidy this place up.. lol

UGH so excited! I did better in EVERY category on my second fit test compared to my first! I was sweating bullets, which always makes me happy....but AH, I can't express how excited I am.

well the exercise is kind of on the wayside as of late.. i just cant wait to recouperate and get on track.. im sticking to healthy food and whatnot for now just so i dont mess up my healing process.

i have been cleaning and organzing like crazy lately though. my parents are coming tomorrow ( weathe rpermitting) from canada and i cant wait! they are so exciting to meet the new baby.. and im so exciting to see them ( not to mention the help!) hehe

I think the reason I really really wanted to do Insanity, was knowing that every two weeks I could actually take notice of my improvement, and I can't express the surprise when I see such a large increase in those numbers. Not to mention the overall BETTER feeling when I did the test. :)

Another one of those days where I worked out in the AM's. I got home exhausted, took a nap and had to wait until my living room was vacant. Which was very late. my back muscles are a little sore, which is different since its always my legs, abs, or arms. I don't know if I should worry, although I know a lot of the exercises I did today had to do with your core, getting in the plank position, and using your back muscles.

Finally back in the gym today after a week of being a slug!

3. 3 walk = 3 kms
4. Friday = cook day!
5. Shabbat -- no walking
6. 3 kms walking
7. 6 kms walk (and I danced for 2 hours at a wedding)
8. 5 kms walk
9. 3 walk + 7 gym = 10 kms

looks like everyone is doing really well this month!!
I have had a pretty good workout month so far, I hurt my back end of last month I really wish I hadn't had to take the 1 and 2nd off but what can you do.

3 - 2 miles
4 - 1 mile
5 - too busy couldn't get in a workout :(
6 - 2.5 miles
7 - 1 mile & 30mins strength training
8 - 1.25 miles & 30 mins strength training
9 - Going to try tonight for 1.75 miles & 30 mins strength training...wish me luck ;) I'm getting tired haha

My goal was 25miles this month but I'm hoping I can push it & do 30miles because I'm turing 30 this month too :lol: and hey 5 miles is 5 miles :)

Didn't get to bed until after midnight last night, and it was pouring this morning, so I just snuggled under the flannel sheets with my husband instead of going to the gym. Do I regret that? No way!

And here's my February so far:

4 am! I'm starting to get used to working out really late before sleeping, I enjoy the silence in the house and knowing no one is awake to interrupt me. Ah, My lower back and abs are a little sore right now, I love it. Every time I stretch it's like my muscles are singing hallelujah!

After an hour on the elliptical last night I stopped with a grumbly hungry tummy :( I tried to contain myself but I had 3 pickles, a bite of cheese & half a glass of water...then I made myself do 30mins of strength training to make up for it. I really need to pay more attention to what I eat for dinner.
Shooting for 1.25 miles tonight.
Friday I want to get in 2miles & another 2miles Saturday then Iíll do nothing Sunday except be happy that after 1 mile Monday Iíll be at 15 miles in 14 days which puts me 10 miles from my goal and will make getting to 30 miles a synch if I can keep this up! :D:carrot::D

I shouldn't have been nervous - I loved it!! We did a lot of different things... free weights for my arms, machines for my abs and legs, some static balance stuff, some cardio stuff... it was great! I totally prefer the weight training over the cardio I've been doing, but my legs are already feeling sore :lol: I'm going to meet with her again three times over the next 1.5 weeks to get a routine down, and then I'll be on my own for a few months.

I've officially seemed to have moved my workouts to 4 am, rather than 4 Pm. I like working out right before sleeping, taking a nice shower before rest is niiiice for resting those muscles. Today I felt like I had no energy whatsoever during my workout, pushed myself, but I still felt like I was running on empty the whole time. Maybe it's the TOM, or my date today. I'm emotionally exhausted after finally meeting the guy who's been talking to me the past few days. Odd the people you find on facebook, because he's amazing XD Just as quirky and weird as me, and he seriously thinks and convinces me he loves the way I look, even though I am and feel overweight. Anyways, end rant, here's my stats for today's workout.

My quads were EXTREMELY sore and tight yesterday after the workout with the trainer. The rest of my body was fine, but I could barely get down a flight of stairs. I skipped the gym yesterday because I was worried it wasn't safe to go, but after getting some advice here that it was not only safe but GOOD to go and get my walking in, I went today and was really glad to do so.

I am SO sore today. I fell on an icy sidewalk yesterday when I was walking to the gym. I almost fell several times today while walking to work and I just feel so stiff and sore. I think I may have to skip the gym tomorrow. But at least my elliptical is being delivered and I'll get a bit of a workout from getting it upstairs as well as putting it together.

4. Friday = cook day!
5. Shabbat -- no walking

7. 6 kms walk (and I danced for 2 hours at a wedding)

9. 3 walk + 7 gym = 3 walk = 13 kms
10. 3 walk = 3 kms
11. Cook Day -- no walking, except all over the kitchen
12. Shabbat -- no walking
13. Lazy Day -- I am a Fat Slug!

Well I had my v-day dinner last night since my hubby is working tonight and I really over indulged! Didn't even attempt the scale this morning.
I tried to eat healthy/low cal during the day and dinner wasn't too bad but I had a Bellini and 4 bites of a triple chocolate brownie explosion (omg the name says it all) which was bad enough but it didn't stop there. After we went home I downed a bottle of white and had 5 chocolates :mad:
So I'm eating really light today mostly because my stomach is rejecting all that sugar and well lets face it wine haha Going to avoid the scale for a few days and going into workout overdrive tonight and tomorrow and hope for the best :dizzy:
Bought a biggest loser workout DVD it looks pretty good it has 5 workouts and a warm up/cool down (70minutes total) going to do as many as I can and the elliptical after for as long as I can tonight.

We went out for Valentine's Day last night to a gourmet vegetarian restaurant that had the chef's tasting menu for V-Day. 13 courses! Okay, each one was really small, but I got on the scale this morning, saw the number and jumped right off!

Did the Biggest Loser The Workout 2 dvd last night and again it was awesome!!
I have re-vamped my workout plan for this month, if I can keep this up I know by March I will be on my way to being in way better shape :cb:
I am so sore today it feels so very good! If I can keep to my new plan I'll exceed both my mile and minutes goals for the month of February:goodvibes
I think I'm going to be super busy the next few days so I'll check back Friday...

I'd love to join this challenge. Even though it's the middle of the month, I know that for the next two weeks I'd like to continue my couch to 5k program at the gym and make it all the way through the Jackie Warner dvd Xtreme Timesaver Training.

2/17=16 minutes of the dvd, huge break, last 14 minutes of dvd

The treadmill was tough today. I'm still just walking, but I've added some incline, and in the last five minutes I alternate increasing the incline and speed every minute. I did the abs before the treadmill, and so by the time I finished my walk I was really beat.

I was out of commission all weekend due to TOM cramps, but happy I was able to make it to the appointment with the trainer today. Still not feeling great though, and not looking forward to travelling tomorrow. I need to make sure I get my workout in every day except Saturday (when I won't be able to make it to the gym at all due to conference and travel) to make my goal for this month.

Hey all!

I'm looking for some advice. I got a giftcard for my bday and was thinking about getting a wii game. I love my biggest loser dvd but I thought I'd add a little something a little different to my routine.
So I'm stuck between Just Dance 2 and Zumba. Just Dance 2 my son & my husband could use to but they surely wouldn't use the Zumba. I haven't heard much about either of them except the Just Dance 2 does have a calorie counter, and I would imaguine the Zumba does too.

Have any of you used either of them or have any thoughts??

have the worst cold in the world.. and so does baby... not fun..

Not sure if I had more energy or something today, but I did SO much better in the workout! Lasted longer with every segment and I wasn't as tired in the end. At first I was wondering if I wasn't pushing as hard, but I know I definitely was, and more. Im super excited :D

xXLosingItXx - I'm glad you're feeling so terrific!! I was feeling high energy tonight too, for some reason. I kept upping the incline because I was feeling so good, and after my cool down I realized I was the last one in the fitness room at the hotel... and so I turned the treadmill back on and RAN for a minute. I don't run. :o The treadmills here at the hotel must be easier or something... although my back is telling me that I definitely got a workout tonight.

The first 30 minutes on the treadmill today was spent doing Day 1, Week 1 of C25K. I had decided that starting - just starting - C25K was going to be one of my goals for March, and so I had already downloaded the iPhone app. Since I was alone in the fitness room tonight, I decided to give it a try. It wasn't nearly as hard as I had thought it would be for me! All the walking I've done over the past month really seems to have improved my cardiovascular fitness, as I was breathing hard but feeling fine during the 60 sec runs. My problem was really more that my legs and feet tired really quickly during the runs - I have to figure out how to get past that if I'm going to make it to the longer intervals. And I really have to get over the fact that I really, REALLY don't want to run in front of other people.

Alright so since I met my goal I had a fun workout tonight.
Bought Just Dance 2 for wii and did it for almost 2 hours. Half was with my son who is 6 that was funny, then after I put him to bed I did the sweat it in the intense mode which is 1000 on the sweat meter a day for the week. I read it counted calories burned on a rewiew, but that's got to be wrong because the sweat meter was at 3004 after about an hour. However I was sweating quite a bit and it was super fun! So it was a good choice on a little something extra for the weekends when I want a lazy day...super addicting too and hard I probably looked like a goof :lol:

I met all three of my goals this month!! :D They were to increase my time on the treadmill to 45 minutes on cardio days, add weight/strength training 2x/week, and get to the gym 20/28 days. I've also added ab exercises to every day at the gym! I'm embarrassed to say it, but I am really proud of myself. I know my goals probably seemed really basic to others, but I just joined a gym on Jan 31, and this the first time EVER in my adult life that I've stuck with exercise. Actually, almost the first time I've done ANY planned exercise as an adult - before this month, I was as sedentary as they come. The benefits I've seen this month have been SO worth those 5 hours/week at the gym, and I'm really excited to continue in March!

Thanks very much for running this thread, gardenerjoy - it has been an enormous help to me.
