Hey everyone!

Lots of great losses this week -- I think I counted nearly 80lbs when I looked through the weigh in thread; that is awesome.

I agree that writing down everything you eat is really effective in building your own awareness and accountability. I record mine in my ipod touch, and I'm going to make a big effort to remember to do it in the red team's nutritional journal this week. I like looking at other people's food too, to get ideas for what to bring to work for lunch, or what to prepare for dinner.

I hope this is a great week for everyone, talk to you soon.

Hello teammates! Looks like we posted some great numbers for week 3 - good work everyone! I can hardly imagine all the butter we're melting away!!

I'm going to try again to make a point of adding to the nutritional journal thread. That's definitely a way I can improve here. Let's keep working hard on ourselves, everyone!

Congrats everyone on our week 3 win! GO BIG READ! CHOO CHOO!!! (For you rainbowsmiles :))

Bummed news today- The gym is closed all this week because here in Korea it is a big holiday for 3 days this week.

Good news- My personal trainer will start up with me again February 7th, 3 times a week.

Better news- Just be the gym is closed, doesn't mean I have a free pass to be lazy this week. I'm going to step it up this week with my Wii exercise/play time, my WATP DVDS, my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies (for a good laugh), and break out my 30 Day Shred Dvd.

Let's go red team. It's week 4. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

I'm awake and bleary-eyed, ready to start another week of 5AM workouts. Wearing my new VFF's for which I got up at 4:30 an extra day last week - saturday to get in line for the local REI garage sale. Five minutes til I need to be out the door for back, biceps, and abs day, <yawn>.

I killed my workout today ladies! Check out my workout journal...1hr45min of nothing but none stop sweating!!! I used my WATP dvd, my Wii Fit Plus, and my Wii Biggest Loser Challenge.

I am having a lousy Monday. It all really revolves around a co-worker of mine. She is a person who seemed so nice and friendly when I started here a year ago. Unfortunately her true colors are showing now. She is not a friend. She is a user. She will take from people what she can and then throw you away and treat you like crap. I reached my limit today. I m not going to let her use me as her darn puppet any longer! Forget her! I will be professional and ppolite when forced to deal with her at work but I am so not going to tolerate being her floormat anymore!

This person has even been trying to get me to write her papers for a college class she is taking. I am not going to help her cheat! I am not going to take the fall for her when she fails to get accounts set up on time! Her user ID can be tied to it in the system, not mine! No longer will I "be a team player" and cover up her mistakes. To heck with that!

Hey Red Team! I just read this weekly challenge that Jillian Michaels posted on her Facebook. I'm going to try to do it this week. How about you??

Challenge for this week: Mon-Fri I want my women to burn 300 cals a day and my men to burn 500 cals. Cook one healthy new recipe under 500 cals per serving. Try one workout you have never done (Cross fit, Sword fighting, Yoga etc.)

The new workout I've never done will be Just Dance tonight. I've also got plans to try a new healthy recipe tonight - the cauliflower "alfredo" sauce with pasta.

i feel that way sometimes...when i am working out...i get mad because i feel like half my life has passed me by and i was robbed...of doing some of the things i wanted...i'm tired of being fat!! i'm mad!! and i want it all back!!

Rainbow--I had already finished my workouts today but then laced up my shoes and walk/jogged to I WANT IT ALL BACK!!! You gave me bonus cals on the "machines" today of an additional 5:47 of gospel revival...thank you! I know you're gonna win your own battle. Your motto of "totally determined" says it all! I did water aerobics while vacationing at a resort. It actually was a good workout, and that was the "watered down" fun version. I could definitely feel it in my arms and legs after the session. I'm sure the classes offered at a Y or gym would be great!

i do water aerobics...deep water aeroboics....and yes it CAN be an excellent workout, as long as you really give it your all...in our morning classes...there are mostly older ladies, well im an older lady too, but these are older ladies, who come i think mainly to socialize....and chat more than they work out!! it can get crowded and causes a lot of bottlenecking, so i wasn't working out hard enough to even sweat...so i started doing laps. i use a kickboard, swim gloves, fins, water weights, noodles, etc...to vary my routine. but one of the deep water aerobics class is VERY GOOD!! i really work up a sweat but i don't get to go on tues. or thurs often. but if you can find a good teacher and plenty of room, where you work up a good sweat, you will love it!! if not, try swimming laps and doing aerobics on your own in your own lane.

Hey there,

I do water aerobics and I must say that it really depends. In the past, the water aerobics class at the community center sucked! The water aerobics class I take now is actually more like training, than aerobics LOL. My instructor used to be a personal trainer and so her style is totally unique.

She takes exercises that her clients do when training and makes us do them in the water. So it's not a pansy-*** class by any means! We do some hardcore strength training, cardio, core, etc. In her class, YOU WILL SWEAT... in the water!

LOL. Good luck finding a class. I'd recommend finding out about the style of the instructor who will be doing the class.

Alright, I'm taking up Jillian Michaels' challenge this week to burn 300 calories each day and did it today by playing Just Dance for an hour. What a super fun way to burn calories! DH and the dog got in on it too.

The red bean burgers are super delicious and filling and good for you. Here's how I make them:
- Drain and rinse 1 can of red kidney beans. Mash with fork or potato masher.
- Add 1/2 cup minced onion, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 tsp chili powder, 2 tbsp barbecue sauce and about 1/3 cup bread crumbs. Mix well.
- Form into 4-6 patties (depending on your buns) and cook in a frying pan with a bit of olive oil or cooking spray.
- Top with any of your favorite burger toppings (I usually just do cheddar and lettuce).
- Nutritional info for 1/4 of recipe: 148 calories, 1g fat, 28g carbs, 8g protein (I should actually re-calculate this because I've tweaked the recipe since, but this will be close)

Rainbowsmiles, I did walk my mile! :) Today made one week that I have walked a mile each day. I know that most of you do ten times the exercise that I do but I hadn't exercised in years--I would 'diet' but not exercise-so a mile is a lot for me. I felt really awful tonight so I had a hard time but, like so many of you say, I felt better afterwards. Speaking of the huge amount of time you guys are up to per day-how long did it take ya'll to work up to where you are now? As I said, I've walked a mile a day for a week and it doesn't feel one whit easier! I wonder how long it'll take me to get to two miles?

CharlieJune--Shan is right, keep at it and any exercise you do will become habit and something you might look forward to. I was a certified couch potato for two years and it's only taken me about two weeks to actually start looking forward to daily workouts. Those first few days back tho were killers but I kept thinking about some of the real Biggest Loser contestants who kept saying it's all a matter of taking that first step, and then another, and another. Try to keep at it even when you don't want to. It WILL get easier.

To ALL---this is such a great support group!!!! I know some post more than others but I repeat Rainbow's invite...even if you fall off the Love Train for a week, two or even three...feel free to hop back on or drop in anytime.

Rainbowsmiles - cowbot caviar (sometimes called redneck caviar) is a dip sort of thing tjat you put on chips. Here is how I make mine...

-1 can of white corn
-1 can of black beans
-1 can od great northern beans
-3 green onions, diced
-3 roma tomatoes, diced
-3/4 cup of chopped cilantro
-1 cup of fat free Italian dressing

Drain the corn and beans. Mix everything in a big bowl. Let it chill in the fridge overnight. Serve with your favorite chips. It is healthy and delicious!

Great challenge for today. I'm already thinking about what I can do for me (maybe paint my toenails fluorescent pink) and for someone else (maybe go out and clear & warm up my mother's car for her since she has to go to work in this terrible weather. Hmm..maybe I'll pack her a lunch too!). DS is home today, so the school board has already made his day, but I'll try to find something special for him too.

My something special for myself today was that I took the time to sit down and catch up on some of my favorite tv shows (Biggest Loser, NCIS, etc.) and I lifted some free weights while I watched. It was perfect, I love myself time!

For someone else- I just finished doing the dishes for my boyfriend. When he comes home he is going to be so suprised. We have household chores and one thing I never do is the dishes. So, not only did I just finish doing the dishes while he has been at work, but I also did some laundry too. :)

Maybe my things aren't so super fabulous but to myself and him, I know they are something special. :)

When I increase things, it's usually pretty slowly, e.g. when I started pushups I could do 3 or 4, then I could do 5, then 6 etc . . . I didn't start counting them til I could do 25 . . . so take baby steps, but PUSH THAT TRAIN

Rainbow: here is the Northern Buffalo Chicken Salad, I got it from another 3FCer

Northern - Buffalo chicken - really simple - cook a chicken breast (i season with only salt and pepper) Cut into strips or cubes, and toss in buffalo sauce (I use Nance's - I used to make my own, but the recipe calls for LOTs of butter, so I get a low-fat sauce now) and place over salad greens and tomatoes. You can then use bleu cheese dressing, but i just add two tablespoons of fresh, crumbled bleu right over it. And enjoy!!

Now I cooked my chicken with sea salt and garlic pepper (but I love my garlic), I just baked them. I couldn't find nance's wing sauce so I just picked another, it was OK but a little spicy for me and I like spicy. This weekend I'm doing wings the same way and serving with low-fat ranch and blue cheese dressing . . .

MadameButterfly, you asked if I'm exhausted after one mile? Well............I'm cursing sweet Leslie Sansone and I'm not one to curse so YEP, I'm on the floor, wheezing, crawling for the water bottle exhausted! LOL I know it'll get easier, it's just frustrating that I am THIS out of shape! BUT, as frustrated as I am, I am also proud because this is my second straight week of walking a mile and I have taken only one day off. I've never, ever stuck to an exercise routine for two weeks.
So, what am I going to do nice for myself today? Walk that freaking, blessed mile. :) What did I do nice for someone else? I stayed after school for two hours to tutor two adults (for free) as I do every Wednesday. Well, that's nice for me too. I get a lot of pleasure out of helping someone learn to read
It sounds like some of you are really getting hit hard by the storm! Stay warm and stay safe!

The office where my computer sits is very cold, even with the help of a space heater, so I'm staying out of here as much as possible. TODAY....you need to add as many EXTRA STEPS into your day as you can....park a little further away, take the stairs, walk around the grocery store more than a few times...etc...you can come up with something really creative!!! Then come back and POST what you've done extra...because REMEMBER....LAST CHANCE WORKOUT IS COMING!!!

in your regular workout routine...if you normally do 1 hour, then do 1 hour and 10 mins...if you walk 1 mile, walk 1.25 miles...just add a little more...RAISE THE BAR....YOU CAN DO IT....IT MAKES YOU STRONGER!!

Well ladies I hope you are all having a great Thursday!!! I just wanted to let you know I am having outpatient surgery tomorrow to get a lump on my back removed. I was told I am not allowed to exercise until the stitches come out. That has me super bummed out!!!!

I will do my best to pull my weight for the team. I hope I can do okay. You ladies keep a rockin!!!!

Hi Red Team
Like most everyone we have been digging out from the storm, we had around 10 inches but it s hard to get a true amount because most of it blew around. WE have some spots in the yard and drive where there is no snow and some 3-4 foot drifts. DD had to go to school today, she is disappointed that she only got 1 day off school, with an early out and a late start. Now the cold starts for a while. I'm not ready for that.
Tomorrow I'm going to a Go Red fof women lunch, it will be the first time I've been out in almost a week.I did the 1 mile WATP and it was hard, I used to do that all the time I guess I've been too lazy for to long, from now on I'm doing it every day.

Desidoo, good luck with your surgery and work on getting over it and healthy again.

For all the Snow Bunnies- Keep digging, Spring is around the corner, we just need to shovel a path for it to get here.

Rainbow: You are my motivator . . . you are rockin things out . . .

I didn't know today's challenge but, I bumped things up and started pushin' that train at a jog . . . . JM 30-day shred (Level 2, 5 lb weights) then JM 30 Day Shred (Level 3, 5 lb weights), zumba flat abs, 200 crunches and 90 push-ups . . . now off to the blue team thread to help them melt a little butter too!!

CanadaM: that does NOT sound good . . . are you OK, do you need to go to the hospital???

lavie: glad you're OK and TRYIN' to stay warm under all that snow . . . summer will come, summer will come, summer will come <sigh> or at least that's what I keep telling myself . . .

Desidoo: no worries, you can drive the train for a bit and pull the whistle . . . WOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO can you walk????? better than nothing . . .

UGHHHHHHH!!! My Love Train is stuck in the snow and SNOW really, really #@!@s the big one! And, so does COMCAST which left me without tv and internet for almost two full days. And so does having to shovel snow to get your car out, but also having to shovel portions of your home which have a flat roof so it doesn't collapse!

Just read all the posts to catch up. You ladies are amazing!!!!

Rainbow--congrats on another huge loss this week!

Madame BUTT-er-- I think I slipped on some of that goo which I was shoveling. It was yellow...oh wait, maybe it wasn't butt-ery goo...lol...nice job you shredding, zumba-ing fool you!

CharlieJune--wheezing, coughing, lying on the floor dying after a mile is worth it. If I hadn't started working out again on January 1st, I never would have made it through the aftermath of our blizzard. My husband couldn't believe how much I helped in the clean up effort. Keep at it!!!! BTW, really, really nice of you to volunteer helping others to read. That made me all warm and toasty.

CanadaMel--Feel better! Sometimes a quick little run helps loosen up all that chest congestion, but don't over do it! Hope you're better by the time you read this.

Peanutt--I'm all for trying to working off additional calories, but can I do it next week? Right now I can barely straighten my back!

Okay team, last night I think I had just the right thing happen to kick my behind back in gear and get my mind back into the zone for losing this weight! I dreamed about being on The Biggest Loser. I dreamed that this whole team was on the ranch and we were at weigh in for this week. So I hopped up on the scale (knowing that due to it being "that time of the month" that the numbers might not be so good) and I had an 8 pound gain. So the whole team was shocked! Bob and Jillian laid into me just like they did to Don the day after his brother got sent home. They kept yelling at me about how I had been doing so well and have completely lost my motivation. They screamed about how I told my family at Christmas that this would be the last Christmas they would see me as a fat girl and I hadn't really done much of anything since 2011 started to seriously lose the weight. I felt like such a slacker by the time they got done with me. And their tirade was done in front of ALL OF YOU!!!!! EEP! I was totally freaked out. So after that weigh in we all went to a mountain for a challenge. All of you started running up the hill and I was standing at the bottom, just staring up at everyone. Next thing I knew Courtney (from the current season of the show) came over to me and said, "I know it seems daunting but you can climb this hill. Just like you are scared of the amount of weight you have to lose, this mountain is the same. Each step will get you to the top, and each pound will get that weight off!" So little by little I started walking up the hill. Then I got motivated to catch up to my teammates and started running to catch you.

Then I woke up.

I feel pumped! The dream was so close to reality really. I definitely don't feel like I've done everything that I could have done to ensure decent losses each week. And this week due to "that time of the month" and giving in to bad cravings and stuff I expect a gain. I contemplated taking my last freebie this week but I can't do that. I have to own up to the cravings, face the number on the scale, and put it behind me.

Tomorrow morning I plan to get my behind in the gym! They have day care from 8:30AM to 12:30PM so I can get in there in the morning and start getting back on track! No more stopping for fast food just because it's cheap and quick. No more going home and watching TV with a bowl of kettle corn and drinking half a 2 liter of orange soda. I just have to keep thinking about that dream and take those little steps to make it to my goal!

Huge thanks to the RED TEAM and Bob and Jillian in my dream for helping me to pull my head out of my behind and get it back in the zone! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Wow, the energy in this thread is amazing! It kind of scares me a bit, lol.

My zumba teacher added a bunch of different songs/routinues this week. She's had the same group for a while now and she's starting to push us (which is good). But I'm so sore! My abs feel like I got run over and please, please don't make me laugh! :D She even stepped it up in yoga this week too! I can't wait to hear "child's pose" so I can just lay my head down! Can't wait to see the results this week!!

sad to say that I am back to the hospital, it look like my baby is having an infeccion on her surgery insicion.
I check her yesterday and she was Ok, and then afeter posting in the morning yellow stuff... So we are on emergenci rigth now.

hey peanutt....you know...i never really thought about how much i was burning...other than on the exercise bike...read out...so i decided to find a calculator...here:

today....i burned approx:

35 mins exercise bike, vigorously interval training 3 from ranges 5-8 burned
approx: 500 calories!!

20 mins free weights lightweight...
approx: 125 calories

ZUMBA!! 40 mins
approx: 442 calories!!!

swimming laps between moderate and vigorously 67 mins...
approx: i took the average between the 2 of 905 and 1456 calories
approx: 1180 calories!!

approx: 2247 calories!! OMGJOLLYGOODNESS!!!!

I use a heart rate monitor to track my calories burned. I punched in a couple of common workouts for me. One was over-estimated by 80ish calories burned and one was underestimated by about 100 calories from what I usually burn. I think whatever method you use to calculate your burn, you should be fine if you stay consistent. :)

Yes, it was me who was originally feeling kind of bad and thinking we needed to go all Kumbaya and Rodney King but because this was my first time in one of these BL competitions I didn't know the proper etiquette, like were we allowed to post on Blue's threads?

Can we please focus on the fact that as a Red AND Blue group we've lost a total of just over 420 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go extend an olive branch, but seriously if there was ever a person who doesn't need defending it's Rainbow! By far, Rainbow is the greatest motivator I've ever encountered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could it be the Love Train derailed? Perhaps it was sabotage, someone coated the tracks with butt-ery goo.

Morning all! I hope this week has been a good one for everyone. I've struggled with some bad choices here and there, and I'm retaining the water to prove it. Overall though I'm on track for calories, so I'm hoping for a little whoosh by tomorrow so that I can post a loss for this week. As of this morning I think I'm about where I was last week, or maybe even 1lb higher. I'll give it another day and weigh in tomorrow.

I'll keep you ladies in mind tonight when I go out to eat and go to the movies. No popcorn for me!

Good morning RED TEAM!!!!!! I just watched this week's episode of TBL on Hulu since I missed it on Tuesday night. Now to get off the couch and get some exercise! I can't make it to the gym today but I have plans with my Wii boxing and Leslie Sansone at home!

My darn sinus problems have returned. I've been dealing with yet another sinus infection and this one's hit hard. I've tried several over-the-counter meds to take the pain away and nothing's helping. My follow up doctor's appointment is on 2/25 so I just have to hang in there until then. The sinus infections are so painful that they make me dizzy and I admit I am afraid to get on the elliptical or treadmill with my head spinning like it is. But I think I can handle some Walk Away The Pounds and Wii exercise. That way if my head gets to spinning too much I can sit for a moment and get my equilibrium back before continuing.

Just posted my miniscule loss...sorry I couldn't do more, but considering how hard I worked this week it was like a needed a chisel to get that pound off!

Okay, remember that dream I posted about a couple of pages ago? Well, I guess it was a prophetic dream. I weighed in this morning and found that I had gained 8.2 pounds. In the dream I gained 8. I can just hear Bob and Jillian screaming at me in my mind right now! I posted about the dream, the weigh in, and my plan to correct my ways on my blog a moment ago.

CharlieJune and CanadaMel - Yep, TOM was a bit of an issue for me this week too! The scale sure showed it. :hug: I definitely feel your pain!

Brutal TOM. Always is for me so I am happy that I 'only' have a one pound gain. I usually weigh anywhere from 3-5 pounds heavier during this time so I guess making myself exercise and running from the chocolate cravings actaully paid off. So, on to next week and I'll hopefully get that stupid pound off and maybe another pound or two as well.
CourtneyDaisy, you did NOT gain 8 pounds--water weight gain is a fact of life for most of during our TOM and it sounds like you are just one of the ones who gain on the higher side. Next week, we'll get it done! :)

I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am alive. Very sore but alive. The lump ended up being bigger than they thought at first. But it and it's 7 little friends are now gone. :)

I am not allowed to do any exercise, lift, bend, nothing until my stitches come out next Friday. So I will be here cheering you all on this week. :) CHOOOOO CHOOOOO

I see there was alittle drama action while I was gone. WOW....Flash back of high school there for a moment. I just have to ask. I understand we are all working towards the same goal here but isn't there two teams? Wouldn't that make this a competition even if it is friendly?? I mean I don't know about you but I like competition. It pushes me farther. No one posted anything to hurt anyone else's feelings. Rainbow made a mistake and posted on the wrong thread. A few of us thought it was funny. I personally thought the posting on the wrong thread was funny because I have done that in the past. Then you think crap and try to fix it. No big deal. Get your panties out of a wad. If you take offense to something as small as this then wow....I can't imagine what you are like in real life.

I know for a fact Rainbow feels terrible and has been really depressed over this. She said she will not be posting as much and well personally that pisses me right the **** off. So if you get offended over something as stupid as what you did. SHUT YOU CAKE HOLE put on the big girl panties and deal with it. Instead of yappin your mouth which none of us want to hear. I work at an elementary school and we go into bargaining next week so I can feel the stress eating coming on.
