Hey there everyone. Just thought I'd start a new thread since we're on page 7. I don't know about the rest of you but after that many pages, I get lost. Maybe that's where I've been lately.
Can't stick around but I'll be back tomorrow night. Have a great evening tonight and a great Wednesday tomorrow. Talk to you's guys then.

Good morning!
The concert last night was wonderful, we had a great evening. I've decided to give their cd to all my friends this year for Christmas.
Due to the 2 inches of snow that was falling, what is normally a 40 minute drive ended up taking us 2 hours to reach downtown. We had anticipated that happening, so it was okay. And definitely worth it...Chicago is expecially spectacular when it's lit up for Christmas!
Ruth, I'm sure Zoe or Terri would be willing to give you the info about the gifs....they taught us how to do it...and rather than me mucking it up, I'll leave the instructions up to them!
Es, did you decide upon what to do for tomorrow's dinner? Hope everything works out.
Today is definitely being spent in the kitchen preparing for tomorrow. That's fine with me, I love the day before Thanksgiving. Our fireplace is in the kitchen, which makes it even cozier :D
have a great day,
~Jen

Hi gals,
Sorry that I haven't been posting lately. I'm at a particularly trying time in my therapy. I haven't been staying OP and have been pretty down lately. My mom's 80th Bday is in Jan and my brother is trying to arrange something. I can't go. I jsut don't have the strength to go through with it. I am making a quilt for her and I will send it down with Steve and Ellen when they go to Florida to check up on his Dad. I know I will feel guilty for not going, but on the other hand I will feel a lot worse if I do go. WHat do you gals think?
I don't know how I arragned it but I don't have to make anything for Thanksgiving. :bravo: We are going to our Friend's house and he asked us to make the salad. I don't do salads, that is Steve's specialty, so I am off the hook. I may bake a loaf of bread in my bread baker though.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Turkey Day,
God Bless,

Hi everyone!!!!
Ruth,
I made a folder with my gifs in MY Documents. Then when the message is completed I hit the browse button and my file comes up and I click on what I want and hit OK and it appears.
I love them.
Janie,
I am not sure of what to tell you. I have never been in this situation and I believe unless someone has walked in those shoes they can't judge that person. Just do whatever is best and make sure you don't have any guilt from your decision. Guilt can eat you alive. Good luck.
Jen,
Glad you had a great time. We are supposed to get flurries. we will see. never had snow this early in the year.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Girls:wave:
The dilemma is solved:cp: My sister decided to make another turkey breast. Pete thinks what we're making would have been enough.
Jen, I haven't been to a concert since Marc Anthony's but it was outdoors & I didn't like the seating.(nosebleed) I did go to one indoors at Madison Square Garden a few yrs. back & that was nice. A fireplace in the kitchen, so cool!!
Ruth, I did the gif's like Terri did. Zoe walked me thru it.
Janie, you do what's in your heart. Don't do it to please anyone. I useto do that all the time & would have regrets afterward.
We got some snow. It looked so pretty this morning. It melted already.
I am so tired:yawn: I'll be back Friday.
Happy Thanksgiving :)

Good morning everyone,
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We are all blessed with wonderful families and good health, what alot we have!
Of course, today I'm pooped. So much cooking, but it's worth it cause leftovers mean no cooking this weekend :D
I'm hoping to get the tree up and the house decorated this weekend. It always seems to be such a big project, in spite of the fact that I've weeded out some decorations and passed them on to the kids.
Janie,
Terri and Es have said it....do what YOU feel best. I'm praying for you.

Happy Friday:wave:
Thanksgiving was nice. My sister always aggravates me a little but I realized it's better to have her around even though she gets on my nerves, than not having her around. My BIL behaved. We didn't have booze so he was quite sober. Around 7:00 we went to my other BIL's new apt. & had dessert. My other sister was there with all the kids. We were home by 9:00. We are truly blessed to have our families.
Jen, I was thinking about decorations. I don't have storage space so every year I buy new ones. I went out for a little while to pick up milk & eggs & decided to stay home after I saw how crowded the stores were. My SIL was out at 4:30 AM to get the early bird specials. She's done! Lucky her.
My family decided to do a grab bag this year. $50 gift plus the small kids. I usually don't care for the grab bag cause I feel bad I can't get the others but they all agreed on it so I didn't have a choice.
This the first time in 2 days I can spend time online so let me go browse around.
Have a great evening my friends. ;)
Love,
Es

Hello friends
I hope that your Thanksgiving was joyous and happy. Yes Jen, you said it.....we all have so much to be thankful for. I am truly, truly blessed.
Tomorrow is weigh in and with Thanksgiving, I am really praying for some sort of a loss although I really didn't do all too terribly. I think my main problem is too much salt this week. I don't even use salt on a normal day but with all these foods that were specially prepared, I think there was alot of it. We'll see tomorrow.
I'm in a rush so I can't address each of you but I'll be back tomorrow afternoon and let you's all know how it went. Have a wonderful Friday evening.

Hi girls, sounds as if everyone had a good thanksgiving. Maurice and I had a pleasant dinner at home. I bought a pre-stuffed chicken and baked it, made green bean casserole and opened a can of cajun veg-all. First time I've cooked anything in years. Usually we go to my mothers, my aunts, or my mother-in-laws for dinner.
I took my grandson to my mother's for the weekend. Nicholas loves to stay with her. She gets down on the floor and plays Super Nintendo with him. (She got the old one when he got the Nintendo 64) She also cooks for him. Yes, I feed him, but I don't cook like my mother. She bakes biscuits and cornbread, makes banana pudding, things I don't do. LOL I also visited with my dad for a little while. My parents are divorced, so I always have to divide my time between them.
Did you see 48 Investigates tonight? The new exercise in California is learning to pole dance. As in exotic dancing. The women swore that it kept them fit and lean!!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Es,
Your SIL is very brave to do the day-after-Thanksgiving-shopping trip! Last year was the first and last time I'll ever do that
Glad you had a good turkey day.
We're back to doing a grab bag again this year, and I'm relieved. While my entire family doesn't get together on Christmas, there are 13 adults and 7 kids who have done so every year for the last 10 years or so....it got to be very stressful and expensive to purchase for all the adults. We have the grab bag only for those over 18....we all still buy for the kids :dizzy:
That's one of the main reasons I'm almost finished with my shopping, a dozen less gifts to purchase :D
Ruth,
I don't know about that pole dancing...it's never looked very comfortable!
It's nice that you got to spend time with both of your parents. Sounds like your Mom is a good cook.
Zoe,
This is the hardest time of year to get on the scale, isn't it? I think it's great that you've committed to this and are sticking with it!
Joe and I spent a really lazy day yesterday. Went out to lunch and did a bit of shopping, but no malls. Just Barnes & Noble and Trader Joe's. The plans I had for decorating got tossed out the window, but there's always today and tomorrow. We needed a quiet day together.

GoodMorning:wave:
I got on the scale & I'm up 2 lbs. since Wed.:yikes: I hope it's water!!! I feel puffy. I have to get back to exercising.
Ruth, does your grandson live with you? I remember when David was small my mom useto cook all kinds of homemade food. He was very picky & still is. David was her pride & joy.I don't know about pole dancing. I'll stick to kickboxing. I prefer chicken over turkey any day. I only make it cause it's a tradition.
Jen, I had a Christmas list & had figured out how much I would be spending. I revised it with just kids & my grab-bag & it's half of what I would have spent. :dancer: That's not including David & Pete. I may be getting David a computer. I'm not sure yet. Quiet lazy days are my kind of days. We need that once in a while.
Zoe, hope weigh-in went okay. ;)
I'm going to eat very light today. I'll stay within my minimum pts.
Hi Terri, Dianne & Sandy.
Have a nice day everybody.

Hi All!
Bruce did the fried turkey thing. It was excellent but it came with a little anxiety. On the box warning was the word explosion. Never thought I would have to worry about my husband dying while making a Turkey. At one point the propane base caught fire and Bruce knew what to do but I stuck my head out of the door and screamed fire and the kids starting running. There we were running from our Turkey. It only took 1 hour and man it was good. Bruce said the Propane gas grills have the same warning. I didn't know that so now I will probably have anxiety attacks when we make hamburgers now. :yikes:
We will put up the Christmas Stuff tomorrow. I hate the doing but love the results. I can't wait until I see what Tanner does this year. He tried to sneak ribbons last year. Everything in our house are up high. On the fridge the magnets are only on upper half, pictures on the wall too. Our ornaments will probably be the same way. He just turned 2 but you certainly know by how ornery he is.
My sister did the 6:00 A.M. Walmart thing a few yrs, ago for me. She took reinforcements. Her SIL and niece. They were getting me 3 Bubbas. They were advertised as having a limited supply.
They each grabbed one after running in. My sister and her SIL had to go to the restroom and they handed the Bubbas to Nicole and she was standing there with 3 Bubbas and man did she get the looks. One lady offered her double the price and she said "Man, it was tempting with being in college and all." My sister said "The money would have been useless because I would have had to kill you."
I hope everyone loses their water they accumulated over the past few days. I sure hope I do. I am not weighing until next week. :dizzy:

Hello my friends
Just a quick note to let y'all know that I'm still here. I've been so busy with my Christmas decorating and shopping that I just haven't even thought about getting online.
Yesterday was my weigh in and I lost 1 lb. I guess that's good with Thanksgiving week and all but I really stayed within my points so I was surprised it was so low. Haha..... I guess I am being greedy now, huh?
Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday. Talk to you's guys later.

Hi Buddies:wave:
Zoe, you are on a roll Girlfriend! Your stats look great!
Terri, your post had me laughing so hard. Between everybody running & the anxiety attacks. So funny.
I made an attempt to do some shopping but when I walked in Kmart & saw the lines I changed my mind. I'm going to do it the next couple of Fridays during the day when everybody is working & in school. I can't take the crowds.
Just stopped by to say hi.
Have a nice evening everybody:grouphug:

Zoe, :cp: :cp: Good for you! :D One pound is great, especially during Thanksgiving week.
Terri, Es wasn't the only one laughing when reading your post. Glad the turkey tasted good, I've heard it's a great way to cook it.
Es, shopping during the week is the only way to go...if you're able you might as well take advantage of it. I stay home on the weekends, even when it's not the holiday season. I'm heading out tomorrow for one more power shopping trip, and then should be finished. YAY!!!
The tree is up but not decorated, but the rest of the house is finished. We'll finish up the tree during the week; for some reason we never get it all done in one day!
Joe is at his once-a-year convention for the radiology industry, held every Thanksgiving weekend here in Chicago. It's the largest convention held in the country. Of course it's not as exciting for those who live here as it is for all the radiologists and other industry personnel who live across the country! Joey attends it along with his dad, as they're both in the business, just different occupations.
hope everyone's well.....stop in and say hi!

Hello my buds:
Sounds like a good Thanksgiving was had by one and all - although yours was a bit scary terri  Glad no one was hurt!
Well, as for Christmas shopping, I've decided I'm not gonna do it:lol: As some of you may know, we have 7 children with various spouses and boy/girl friends and 14 grandchildren. Every year I update my list on the computer with names/ages, etc. This year I've decided that each child under 10 years old will get a toy-r-us gift certificate and each child over 10 years old will get money in a card. I'm just not up for it this year, its too much work. This way they can pick out their own gifts anyway, the older children will appreciate the money. Then the married kids always get an american express gift certificate for dinner and a night out with us babysitting - they like that part, :s: I feel a little guilty about not buying presents, etc. but then I think about the darn long list and the wrapping paper, etc. and I don't feel as guilty:devil: Maybe next year, I'll go back to the regular way. It depends on the reactions I get from the kids.
Well, congrats to all the losers and to those of us stuggling, let's hang in there together - we'll get there eventually.
I'd better get my butt in gear and prepare my clothes for tomorrow. I like to get everything out of the way so I can watch the Sopranos without interruption.
Talk to yous guys manana.
Hugs,
Dianne

Hi Girls:wave:
Dianne, I would like to get the DVD set of the Sopranos for Pete but they have 4 of them. I guess I should buy the First Season huh? We have HBO but we never watch it. I've seen it a couple of times. He's thrown a thousand hints about an MP3. My brother was telling me since we don't have Optimum Online it'll take forever to download music. I don't know what to do. I know he really wants one.
Jen, I'm buying my tree Sunday. I'm taking a day off Wed. I was going to take 1/2 day since I have a drs. appt. at 1:15 PM but that's a great sale day. I decided to shop till I drop. I have to get my results on blood work I had done to check my cholesterol. It's was still high.
Ruth, how are you?
Hi Terri:wave:
Till tomorrow.

Dianne,
Your plans for gift giving sound perfect; the wrapping and shopping can be a hassle, and take away from the real meaning of the holiday. I had heard that this is the last season for the Sopranos, but Joey said they're doing another season...have you heard? If this is the last, the next episode should be a whopper!
Es,
the only reason I've got the tree up so early is that years ago we went with an artificial one. On Saturday Joe said we should dispose of it and go with a 3 ft. table model. A few hours later I turned to him and said,"I'm too young for a table top tree!" If he wants to eliminate the hassle of getting it down from the attic, and believe me, it is a hassle, then we should go with fresh trees each year from now on....in the door and then back out. He hasn't said anything about it since.
Spent a good portion of this afternoon gift-wrapping; we had a snowstorm come thru this morning, so I didn't go out shopping as planned.
Dr. Phil's show this afternoon was about weight-loss. Very interesting take on it...I've got to figure out what my payoff is, what's making me want to be fat. Cause that's what it is. I don't have anyone forcing me to eat the way I do.

Hi guys:
Es - If Pete's never watched the Sopranos then you should get the first season, so he'll know what's going on. I can't help you with the MP3 thingy, I don't even think I know what that is:lol:
Jen - I heard that James Gandolfini (Tony) wants to leave the Sopranos, but I think they will do one more season and he'll probably get "whacked" in that season:p I could be wrong, maybe he gets "whacked" next week- its the final episode and its gonna be 75 mins. long! If he leaves the show, they may as well hang it up, it wouldn't be good without him, in my opinion. You are toooooo funny about being too young for the Table Top Tree -now I'll always think of those trees for old people:lol:
Speaking of "OLD" - I have just one more day of being 49!!!! Starting Wednesday, you guys are gonna have to kick my butt out, or rename this thread:p
Hi busy ZoeGirl - congrats on the decorating (I haven't even begun) and congrats on the lost pound - I think I found it:devil:
Hi Terri, Ruth and Janie - hope you guys are doing well.
I'll talk to you's tomorrow, buddies!

Hello all ~
Since my posts will be short, I want to come in here often. I really appreciate you's guys. I mean, this time of year gives me something to think about and I feel guilty not having these thankful and joyous feelings throughout the year. I am truly blessed in my life....at home, at work, my husbands work etc. but also, here too ~ all of you have been such a wonderful joy in my life. My means of support through the rough 'diet' times and then, my gallery of cheers when I do well. I just wanted to say thank you for being here and I don't know what I'd do without you's guys. :D
Have a warm day....it's supposed to be extra cold here today and the next 3 days....in the 40's!! (high 40's but still....brrrrrr)

Hi all!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE!!!!!!!!!!! You stay right where you are!!!!
I don't blame you for making it more simple this year. My in-laws gave my kids gift cards for their birthday and they loved it. They felt important picking out what they wanted. They older kids LOVE money. I have always wanted to get money since as far back as I can remember. I still get excited.
Jen,
My parents went to table top trees. 2 of them. My kids are still confused. I think 60 is a good age for a table top.
I saw that Dr. Phil show. It was good.
Es,
Yes, I heard that next year is the last season for the Sopranoes.
My husband loves it.
I hate the crowds too. I have a little left to do. I will go with Brittany this weekend and get the rest. I have a Christmas Party to go to this Sat. I am not looking forward to it. The hosts are SNOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will drink early and then maybe I will have a good time.
I am all done decorating. I bought cookie dough from a fund raiser for Britts and they are the only cookies I am baking.
I am simplifying it too.
There is a book by John Grisham called
Skipping Christmas .
It is SO good. Really a great Christmas read and it only has 176 pages. I got it for $8. Bruce is reading it now.
I'll talk to you soon.

10 Little Weight Watchers
10 little weight watchers joining in a line,
one hated vegetables, then there were nine…
9 little weight watchers say, "This is great."
One said I don't have time to exercise,"
then there were eight…
8 little weight watchers say, "This is heaven."
One had a birthday, then there were seven…
7 little weight watchers, getting thin for kicks.
One said, "Programs and fun just don't mix,"
then there were six…
6 little weight watchers, see how they thrive.
One said, "Just once won't hurt,"
then there were five…
5 little weight watchers beating at a door.
One weighed and left each week,
then there were four…
4 little weight watchers from fat getting free.
One heard, "Dear you're getting too thin,"
then there were three…
3 little weight watchers see how they do.
One went on vacation, then there were two…
2 little weight watchers, life has just begun.
One got off the program, then there was one…
1 little weight watcher standing all alone,
the body's gotten little, how the pride has grown…
1 little weight watcher,
at goal she (he) looks divine…
We, each one of us, can be that one
and not the other nine!!!

Went out shopping today and I'm beat. Just have to pick up a few tiny gifts and I'm finished :D this is the earliest I've ever been done. Now just have to finish the tree!

Hello everyone
Thursday is here, almost Friday and I am at the tail end of my decorating and shopping. I think I'm going to love being finished with my Christmas shopping early so I can enjoy the holiday for what it really is. I've never finished early before ~ always said I wanted to but never did, so this is too cool.
Dianne ~ :hb: :hb: :hb: Hope your day was a good one.
Terri ~ You're finished with your decorating? I am so jealous. :) That book sounds good. I'm going to look for it. Thanks for the cute poem.
Jen ~ This is my earliest to be done with my shopping too. It feels great, doesn't it??
Es ~ how was your day off yesterday? Hope you relaxed some too.
Have a great Thursday!

I am going to make this short because I have been booted out several times the last 2 days.
It sounds like everyone had a lovely Turkey day. I am so jealous of those of you who are done decorating and/or shopping. I am a disaster.
Happy Birthday Dianne!!!

LOTS OF SNOW!!!!
I haven't seen this much snow in a very long time. It looks so pretty. I drove in it & was a nervous wreck!! Luckily everybody was going real slow. It was so icy but I made it home safely. Thank God.
Dianne, I hope you enjoyed your birthday. :)
Zoe, I haven't finished my Christmas shopping yet. I'm only half way through. I'm suppose to receive some retro money my job owes me next week. That's when I'll finish up. We're going to buy the tree this weekend. Can't wait.
Jen, maybe we'll stick with the Fabulous 40's & Beyond. Or Fab. 40's - 50's. We have to change it quick before Dianne decides to leave us.
Terri, how are you? Can you think of a name? Cute poem!
Janie, I get booted out sometimes. It's so frustrating!! I'm up 2.5. I can't even talk about it cause I get too upset.
Got to get off line for awhile. David is driving in this storm. He was half way to work & his friend called him on his cell & said second shift didn't have to come in. He might call me.
Till later.

Happy Friday everyone!
Thanks for the birthday wishes;) I had the most FABULOUS day. When I came into work in the morning, my whole desk area was decorated with happy birthday stremers - Over the Hill signs and a huge 50 sign (I took that down before I could get my coat off:s:  Then they had lunch for me and when they opened the conference room, it too was decorated with tablecloth, cups, plates, etc. in the 50 mode. I couldn't believe they had done all that without me knowing -- then I was told that they waited until I left the night before to decorate and the funny thing was that I left late that night because of an upcoming meeting I was preparing for, so everyone had to stay late with me:lol: They gave me some gag gifts too - like an old lady's cane with all kinds of funny things on it like a horn, a sign that read Old Lady Crossing, like the deer crossing signs - so funny.
Then when I got home Willie and our best friends took me out to dinner. All and all it was a great day and the blow of turning 50 was softened:smug:
Tomorrow Willie and my sister are taking me to a play - Cabaret, so the celebration continues........sheesh turning 50 wasn't so bad after all!
As far as this site is concerned you can leave it as is if you want, I won't be leaving;) But I must say if you do change the name I really like Jen's suggested fabulous 40's and beyond!
Well, I wrote a book - I'd better get back to work. Hope you all have a great Friday and I'll talk to you's guys soon. Thanks again for the birthday wishes!

Glad you had a great day. To be honest, I'm not enthused about turning 50 in May; having heard from you that it isn't all that bad is encouraging ;)

I guess with all that snow you folks had, it is really starting to feel a lot more like Christmas. We are in a valley here and never get more than flurries (and only once every 10 yrs or so), but it's great when the Mts around us are covered in white. I promised I drive Ellen up to play in the snow next time. I will even take her out of school if I have to. She has never really seen snow falling. It is such a beautiful sight, but I have to say I sure don't miss driving in it.
Last night we got an unexpected guest. A friend that Steve used to work with when we lived in Boston area came into town and the people she was originally going to stay with backed out. She was going to be spending Sat nite with us but now she is here for 4 nights. Our guest room doubles as my sewing room. I was planning on cleaning it up in time for Sat but when she showed up yesterday I just appologized and told her she can sleep on the sleep/sofa in the Family room. What does she expect with only 6 hours notice? She's lucky that I got the Bathroom cleaned for her. WHy do I feel guilty, or do I just always feel guilty?
Hope everyone has a great Weekend. I hope to get to the health club twice this weekend.
Hugs,
JanieD

Hi:wave:
Dianne, sounds like you had a really nice time. I'm happy for you.
That was so nice of your co-workers. I like Fab. 40's & Beyond. How's Alana doing? Did you get alot of snow?
Jen, we give you the honors of starting a new thread since you came up with our new name. ;)
Janie, I love the snow I just don't like when it gets icy & slushy. This weekend is going to be pretty warm so I think most of it will melt. The kids in my neighborhood had a ball. They were out till late playing in it. I enjoyed watching them. You have to take Ellen. She'll love it. Unexpected guest! I would have freaked. I guess she understood. Don't feel guilty. ;)
Sandy, I thought you left us. :( I hope all is well with you. If you don't come back for a while Happy Birthday:hat: :hb:
I've been feeling really down in the dumps. I've been trying real hard with lots of prayer to overcome these feelings. I went to my Dr. for my results in my blood work which came out better than what I expected. Anyway, she put me on antidepressants for a while. I'm only letting you guys know. I didn't even tell Pete. We'll see if they help. She wants to see me in 6 weeks. I never thought I'd see the day that I needed pills for depression. Geeezzz!!!! She also told me it's heredity. Both my sisters suffer from depression. One takes meds. the other one won't. Oh well<sigh> we'll see.
Have a great weekend buddies.
Love you all,
Es
