I am happy to report that I am down .6 pounds. Not much but I worked for it and I am PROUD of it no matter how small.
I took a before picture of myself and plan on doing it for every ___ of weight that I lose! It is a reminder to you of where you started, where you are now and a special reminder when you want to eat that "no no".
Lou and I DID go to the Mesa to get some fruit. They have a $1 bin of fruits and veggies and I nearly wiped them out! Eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, aneheim peppers, apples, yellow and red peppers and broccoli!
We have a juicer (Christmas present so we can get in our fruits and veggies) so I will make Lou an orange/veggie juice and me an apple/veggie one. Normally we would have more fruit but a wise lady told me ONE THING AT A TIME.
I know that we are to work up to 3 each (starch/fruit) a day but for you long time Beachers, do you?
My wish for all of you today is to remember that you are worth this effort and I am proud of you. :mouse: Marcie

Good morning, Marcie, and thanks for the cheery start-up. That veggie/fruit bin sounds like a real deal. Be careful with juice as it's easy to drink too many calories and you will be missing some fiber.
You would not believe how cold it is here! It's -33ļC which is nearly the same in F. I am darned glad Donna is driving us to gym today and sure hope she warms up her car for me. We'll probably go out for coffee afterward although I know she has loads to do before she leaves for Cuba tomorrow. :shrug:
I have a few niggles to clear around the house this morning and then have a Mill Board meeting which will probably gobble up the afternoon. My sister escapes for a month in Hawaii this afternoon and I am envious.
Hope your Monday starts out well and that you are cozy and warm. :cofdate:

Morning ladies.. I know it is early.. But I woke up at 4am. this morning.. Couldn't sleep.. I weighed in at 219.0.. TTOM is here.. I guess water weight gain.. Although, I had just switched over from doing Atkins.. So, don't know if that had anything to do with it..
I guess it is coffee time for me..

My woodstove still had some coals in it and I just cranked it up again. The dogs spend a lot of time in the back room and sure appreciate it. I'd love to just sit out there and cuddle them but need to get organized for the gym. See y'all later.

Morning ladies...hope this morning finds you all blessed. :) I'm about to head to bed for the night, but thought I'd pop in here and say hello. Had a good weekend that included my first 5K (yay!!!), a night out w/ friends (a little too much beer, oops), and a trip to Atlanta that was uber fun. My poor roomie got yelled at by a ton of people b/c she was wearing her Jets jersey and apparently them Atlanta folks can't tell the difference in a Jets jersey and a Packers jersey. As you can imagine, Falcons fans didn't take to kindly to a perceived Packers fan visiting the ATL in team gear, LOL She finally had to take off her jacket so they could see that her sleeves said "Jets" on them. On a side note, I finally got to eat at Vortex while in Atlanta and I think I'm in love, LOL I had a turkey black and bleu burger (cajun spices, blackened, topped w/ a bleu cheese spread) on whole wheat bread w/ lettuce and red onion. I only ate half of it and took the other half home. The only SB friendly sides they had were sweet potato fries and a side salad for an extra $2, so I went w/ a Caesar salad. Yum, it was SO good!!! I'll definitely revisit the Vortex...I love that you can choose the meat used in your burger and just completely customize your meal to fit you. It's great for us Beachers!!!
Ooooh boy...today's the 17th and I still have 1419 minutes to make it to my goal for this month. I better get on the ball!!!
Oh, here's some pics from the 5K. I ain't paying for the sports pics, so I just ganked the ones w/ "Proof" printed across them, LOL The girl walking w/ me is my friend, Pam, who was also doing her first 5K.

Good morning :coffee2: Still on dial-up and I'm afraid to look at the temperature. Negative numbers should not be allowed. I'm heading home today instead of tomorrow because we have another storm heading our way. It's more driving overall but it will be nice to have an extra night at home.

Marcie ~ That was a great bargain on your veggies and fruit! I prefer to eat my fruit whole, as it takes longer to eat it, and it's easier to control the portions. Most people don't realize that in a simple small glass of OJ, you are actually consuming 5 or 6 oranges, besides missing all the fiber. For Phase 2, I usually have 2 servings of fruit a day, but try to keep my starch to 1 a day.
Ruth ~ I'd be tempted to try to tuck myself into one of those suitcases, either to Hawaii OR Cuba! It wouldn't matter to me, either one of those places are warm!
Lanee ~ hang in there, that temporary water weight will be gone as soon as TOM is.
I'm off to spend the day with my girls today. I miss them so much while they're in school! I only hope that they don't want to spend the entire day outside sledding or skating, as it's bitterly cold. But the cold doesn't seem to bother them at all.
I made a scrumptious cannellini bean gratin yesterday, and I'll have to share the recipe with you all. I'm going to take some with me today, as I won't be getting home until late.

Ruth, can it really be -33 degrees celcius? Wouldn't that be like -70 degrees farenheit? I could NOT deal w/ that. Last night was the first night here we could even crack a window while sleeping - I'm an animal about having a window open when I sleep and for the last week or so it has been too cold to do that and I've felt like crap when I've woken up.
School is closed today, and I am going with my friend and her son to a science museum for kids. They actually have a really nice cafeteria there and I'll be able to make a good lunch choice. Not weighing in today because TOM is coming (my b**bs are holding at least 2 lbs of water each) so I'm staying on Phase 1 until Friday.

I'm on the run this morning because I told a lady from church to pick me up at 630 to go to an aerobics class. I knew I wouldn't want to get myself out the door....but now that she's coming I have to.

Well, it's up to -27.3ļC right now - a veritable heat wave. Donna just wimped out on gym because of the cold so I am about to brave the elements, crossing my fingers that my Focus starts, and GO TO THE FRASSING GYM!

Good morning! Still ouchy here but I suspect that will last for a while. Teen is off school today and tomorrow but has to work both days on his next broadcast. Yesterday he got asked to Sweetheart dance (girls invite and pay). My other son is back on campus; long flight from Egypt yesterday. Can't wait to hear about his trip.

Good morning everyone! I am later posting because we are out of school and I slept in a bit! Today I will begin Phase 2 and start counting WW points as best I can until I get the materials tomorrow night! I weighed in today and I am down another 1.6 pounds! Total of 6 pounds for Phase 1!!!! I am very happy with that and look forward to an even better Phase 2!
Natasha- great pics and good job on the 5k!
Lady Windsong- good loss this week...thanks again for your positive words of encouragement to all of us!
Ruth- hope it warms up for you soon...those are some crazy temps! I am impressed with your resolve to get to the gym, though!!!

Good morning, it's a holiday here, too - so like Lisa I slept in this morning. :D
I'm still at my mom's and hoping to either walk or get out on snowshoes today before I head back to Maine. It will all depend on how my mom is feeling today but I've got my fingers crossed. :)
Natasha, your photos got me all psyched up. I think I'm going to google and find out about 5k's in my area - though I don't expect any before spring. I'll walk though. Congratulations again. You must feel so good about your accomplishment! (Heck, I feel great about it! :lol:)
Ruth, I am also very impressed by you this morning. I'm thinking I would have used Donna's call as an excuse to snuggle the dogs by the fire if I'd been in your place. Good work lady! :)
Hello to the rest of you. :hug: I don't like to spend too much time on the computer while I'm at my mom's because I feel like I'm ignoring her. But checking in sure helps me stay away from the cookies and other junk food around here - so thank you ladies!

We are off school today. We are going to go do something today with my parents we just don't know what yet. Our choices are an aircraft museum or walking around downtown Ft. Collins. I think I would prefer the museum. Either way I should get some great walking in.:)

Morning my friends :wave: Iím up early again this morning because I couldnít take my Grand dogs snoring any longer. Love him but OMG, his bulldog snoring is something else and he is used to sleeping on her bed at night so I donít have the heart to change things. Only three more days and then Iíll be homeward bound!
Lady Windsong, you have every right to be proud; be very proud as we all know how hard it is to get the pounds off. You deserve to be happy and proud. I havenít been on the beach for that long, but so far Iíve limited myself to just one fruit a day. Actually by the time I get everything else that I should be eating in, I just donít want another.
Ruth, burr that is a bit cold.

Well, I see some light outside so it's time for me to get my duds on and hit the sidewalk. Not much planned for today as GS is home so will spend some time with him probably watching him play on his X-Box along with whatever. Hope you all have a great on plan day including me. If I can make it through today, I'll be alright as the last two days will be busy ones with lots of errands. Take care of yourselves and make you and your health your number one priority today.

Good morning all :).
Day 1 of phase 1 for me today, and I made it to the gym this morning. After a strength workout then elliptical I felt pretty proud of myself for going.
School starts tomorrow and this semester my classes are all over the place. Mon and Wed I have afternoon class, Tue and Thu I have morning class. The afternoon classes mean I get to work out in the morning though, which is good.
Natasha, good job on that 5k!
Lanee - TOM is awful isn't it? I avoid the scale at all costs during that week!

TOM + "Date Night" = Not such good behavior by me last night. Chris and I went to an upscale Italian restaurant and I indulged a bit. Woke up with the shakes this morning from all the carb overload, and it appears I gained 1.4 lbs from it, but I'm hoping most of it is salt/water retention. I was in bed before 9:30 last night too! It was tasty, but I'm getting to the point where I don't know if it's worth it. The leftovers are going in Anna's lunch this week :lol:
So back on track today. When we got home last night, Chris made a veggie-filled soup with brown rice for the week. I am eating up the last of my lentil stew from last week, and then will make a Mexican Lentil Stew from Kalyn's Kitchen. We got tons of fresh produce and healthy groceries at the store yesterday so I should be good to go!!!
Better get back to work. Hard to stay focused today - Financial institutions and most law offices are closed today for MLK Day, soooo.... not sure why we're open but here we are! Always SOMETHING to do I suppose. It'll be a good catchup day.

I'm doing well too! I went on a 1 hour and 40 minute run/walk and felt amazing afterwards. :) Then I went to a hockey game and watched the home team win!
Also, Saturday- I avoided 2 cakes and a pastry! :) And that felt really good too!
Although I did indulge in some wine, so I'll be good for the rest of this week to make up for it.

I have been lurking for the last week or so--reading the posts but not really writing anything. It has been a crazy busy time with work, working out, and planning a wedding, but I really love checking in to see how everyone is doing.
I had the day off today. My future DH is out of town for work, so I slept in a little, spent some quality time with my dogs, had breakfast and then did yoga on my wii fit. I then took a zumba class at the gym--SO FUN! I wish they offered classes at times that worked better with my schedule. I am run/walking a 5k on Saturday, so I am going to up my workouts this week so I am ready for it.
I went to the store to stock up on good veggies, some whole wheat bread, and a few fruits. I met with a nutritionist and am working on a bit of a modified phase 2. It is working--a few pounds down, but I am dropping inches pretty quick. I am much stronger than I was before I started my workout schedule All of my clothes are loose, which is always a nice feeling.

Quick drive by for me tonight...kids were off as was I! We went sledding yesterday and ice skating today - YAY! Most exercise I've had since November when running season ended.
Well, the scale didn't move at all this week, leaving me feeling pretty blue. Apparently I'm feeling motivated though, because as upset as I am I haven't felt temptation at all, and I still feel like I can fight my way through this. I need to remember that even if I just remove alcohol and desserts something will eventually happen...right? (Okay, pretty pathetic, I'm having my own little pity party tonight apparently).
See you all tomorrow. I'm better at checking in when I'm at work ;)
