Hi Ann, I'm 32 and am the mother of a 5 year old. I am trying to lose 40 pounds. I'm currently the same weight that I was when I was 9 months pregnant! :( I would also like some buddies!

Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for replying. Where are you in your weight loss journeys? What kind of plans are you on for eating/activity? I'm just getting started (again) for what seems like the millionth time. No specific plan yet, just trying to get rid of the junk (including sugar, processed stuff) and move my body a little every day. Not very difficult, but I need something small to get started with.

skinny--I know how you feel. I am 20 lbs more than I was when I went in to hospital! 20 lbs more than I was at 9 mos pregnant! So sad. I've always had trouble with my weight, but it's been such a battle since having my daughter. Not sure if it's the age or just the challenges of juggling it all.

Gamecock--Hi! I really should lose more than 65lbs, but I'd be really happy to get to that weight. Even though it's more than I should weigh for my height, it's a weight that feels good to me. Looks like you're already on your way to your goal! Congrats!

Hi Kristi--Thanks for joining. Glad to see that you're making progress towards your goal.

I'd just like a place to check in everyday where we can get and give support. We can use this thread anyway you all want.

@Kristi, I love your avatar pic, you look so happy and healthy in it!

I'm not on a particular plan, I'm developing my own. I've been on so many different plans in the past, I know what works for me and what doesn't and I know plenty about eating right...I just haven't. My husband was diagnosed diabetic several months ago, and since we are cutting out a lot of processed foods, junk etc. I guess you could say I'm on a common sense diet. I'm also trying to work out more for energy and health. Oddly enough, I used to be a gym rat! I loved working out...I'm not back to that point yet. I just started back this past week after being off the wagon for a few months. I didn't gain all the weight back and my ticker reflects my highest weight about a year ago. This past week I lost 12 pounds, but I made some radical changes, and the high number is not that unusual for me when I start out. I'm going to level off probably this week or next and the numbers will be lower. A lot of people tell me "Oh you are so lucky", but I don't think so...I think it's the reason I haven't stuck things out in the past. I lose a big amount the first 2-3 weeks and then the following weeks only lose 1-2 pounds and I get discouraged and give up. So you guys are going to have to remind me of that in the next few weeks! lol. Good luck to all of you, I look forward to checking in and getting to know all of you :)

Hello everyone!
I am 38 and the mother to an 11 year old and 5 year old twins.
I am currently down 42 since my highest weight, which was 1 year ago...I had lost 58 then had a very busy fall and winter in which I did not take care of myself as I should have. I stepped on the scale and noticed I was more than 10lbs up I thought I was. I can not believe I gained 18lbs from Sept to Jan. The past is the past though, nothing I can do about it now so I am looking foward and CCing again. :)

Thanks Gamecockgrrl! I was just planning on updating that pic, actually!

I started in May 2010 - started tracking my calories daily (even nibbles!), and started exercising a couple of times a week. That has increased (I now exercise 5-6 hours a week), and I'm still tracking my calories. I usually eat about 1300-1400 a day. I drink lots of water!

Hi ladies,
I am 35 and mother of 4. Ages 13, 11, 7, and 4. I gained weight with all of the pregnancies and never tried that hard to lose after them. Now I am determined to lose, lose, lose. I have been talking about losing weight for what seems like forever, since the birth of my 2nd baby which was 11 years ago. Wow, to write down that I have been struggling with this for that long is an eye opener. But this is the year that I do it.

My husband is Air Force and is in training for the next 2 months. So my goal is not so much to lose weight, but for him to be able to see a difference when he comes back. Don't get me wrong, I am determined to lose and have a goal in mind, but that is my short goal for now.

As far as following a plan, I am trying the calorie counting, but not too strict about it. I try to eat healthy meals and snacks. I have tracked calories for so long that I pretty much know where I am on calories. The biggest change that I have made is going to the gym and swimming. I started taking everything serious TODAY!!! I have been going to the gym consistently and am not seeing big numbers or any movement on the scale. Guess I thought if I was working out hard enough, i could just eat what I wanted......WRONG! So I went shopping and planned for the week. So here is hoping for a big loss this week. (Fingers crossed)

I have also signed myself up for my first triathlon ever. It is in 2 weeks. Then I have signed up for a fitness challenge at our gym with four team members. So I can't slack because I can't let the other 3 team members down. I think it is really going to help me stay on track and give me accountability.

I'm 38 and the mom to three kids--9, 7 and 4. I gained with my first two pregnancies, and was pretty heavy (around 240) when I get pregnant with our youngest. I tested positive for gestational diabetes, and was on this super strict diet. I actually lost weight during the pregnancy. After though, it was a little bit like a free fall. I was so tired and stressed out that I started eating and kept at it until I gained about 20 lbs. So, here I am trying to lose weight again.

I would love to have a buddy if there's room for one more. I'm trying calorie counting on my own with some regular exercise. I have a whole bunch of mini goals (getting down to weight I was before pregnancies, dropping below 200, stuff like that). As of right now, I'd like to lose 75 lbs as that was the weight I was for years and felt pretty comfortable there.

I think the biggest killer of my past tries has been the mentality of "Oops, I shouldn't have eaten that and now my day is destroyed, so I might as well start over tomorrow." I'm hoping that this won't kill my try this time around.

Hi there, I'm jumping back on the wagon myself. I'm hoping that it'd be ok to join you all. I'm 33, have 3 kids, ages 11, 9 and 7 and I'm in school too, so finding time to work out is difficult. I am determined to make it a priority, however, and I want to be fit and healthy. A long time ago I weighed 245/250 lbs. and went down to 155... That was about 2 years ago. My grandfather and a very close family friend of mine died and I've ballooned up to 203. I'm in panic mode since I did work so hard to get to that 155 and now I'm over half way to where I started! I need help and support. I really want to do this for me and need to find a way to make it work. I'd like to get down to 195 by Valentine's day.

Hi, I'm 37 with a 14 year old. I started my new way of eating (don't want to call it a diet as it has to be a long term thing) 9 days ago.
I was 215 lbs. I am now down to 211lbs.
I am simply eating sensibly and doing more exercise. Gym twice a week plus exercise bike when I can (I work full time).
I did go on a diet 2 years ago and went down to 180 but then got ill, started eating rubbish and never stopped...
I want to get down to 150lbs (I am 5ft 7).
I'm finding it tough because my OH and my 14yo both eat LOADS and it makes me tempted...

Things for me are going well this week. I have stuck to my allowed calories and as on Monday I started to work out twice a day instead of just once. I'm a little sore but my energy level has been good.

Hey there! I'm brand new to the forums as of today. I'm 38 years old, no kids so nothing to blame my weight on other than my love of fried foods and Belgian beers.

I have an ultimate weight loss goal of about 65 pounds, though I'm wondering if I should break that down into smaller 5-10 lb goals. I'd LOVE to have a buddy/buddies that are staring down the same ugly road I am.

I've half-assed tried to diet probably once a month for like the last two years. Then I fail, decide I'll eat what I want for the rest of the day/week and just start over again tomorrow/Monday.

It's time for me to stick with it.

I hope everyone is doing well this week. My week has been pretty good so far. We started back to school after 10 days off for snow, and it nearly sabotaged me. I was so tired and had forgotten to bring some healthy snacks with me to school. I came home, and just wanted to forget the whole thing. I slipped a little, but got right back on and did my whole workout routine. I worked on fixing the problems that I had yesterday, and today was much better.

Dieting with kids is so difficult. I absolutely agree. We have snacks in the house for them, and I have fat free jello pudding cups when I just can't take it anymore :) Fitting in exercise is really tough too, but my kids think its funny to watch me on the exercise bike. The come and talk to me while I'm working out. I tend to talk too much, and when I'm working out, that's not gonna happen :)

When I started exercising, I didn't want them to be inconvenienced, but they were really excited and wanted to be a part of it. They know when I'm going to do it, so they get my sneakers and water bottles ready. Its really fun.

Slimby35, I'm so sorry to hear about your loved ones. It is really tough when you lose someone so close to you. I hope you are doing better now though, and I think the more support you have, the better it will get.

Hi everyone,

Welcome everyone! Sorry to start this thread and disappear. I tried logging on all week and was having trouble accessing the site. I updated my email address to a new one that I use (the old one was cancelled) and I never got the notification email with the verification link. I kept having them re-send it and it never came. I finally just decided to start a new yahoo email address because we just couldn't figure out the problem.

Anyway, so glad to see that the group has grown. How was everyone's week? Mine wasn't so hot on the eating/exercising front. We have some family staying with us from out of town and we've been doing lots of visiting, eating out, and snacking and I haven't made good choices.

So, how do you guys want to use this thread? Should we try to check in daily with food/exercise updates? Should we all set short term goals, announce them to the group and motivate each other as we make progress towards them? Or, should we just keep it open and unstructured as its been up to now? Let me know what you think.

Anyone doing anything exciting for the weekend? :carrot:

38 and ready--we are the same age and close to the same weight with the same weight loss goals. And, we're both just starting back up. Let's see if we can work together on this since we have so much in common! Like you, I can't get started. I do a few weeks or even a few months on a program and then stop and gain it all back. It's been a really rough battle and it seems like I keep going backwards instead of forwards.

Sounds like a lot of us are struggling with juggling the whole weight loss, kids, work, life balance thing. I see that there are a few here who have had some great weight loss success already. I would love to hear from you what has worked for you and how you got motivated (at first) and have managed to keep it going. Any takers? Gamecock? Kristi? envelope? LTs girl? Or, anyone else who has already made nice progress towards their goals?

Hi there, I'm 30 with 4 kids. I had triplets when I was 25 which put my body through ****..Before I got pregnant with my first child I was a size 1 - now you can add another 1 to that and I am a size 11 on good day but mainly pushing a 13. I'd love to buddy up for some extra support. I have been just counting calories like crazy!! Also trying to get in 30 mins on the treadmill everyday - which sometimes impossible with kids as I a sure you can all relate!!

So happy to see so much support in here and goodluck to everyone!!

Ann72 if you read my earlier post I am calorie counting and exercising like crazy. I giggled a little bit when you included me in the "got it going and keeping it going" category. The one thing the ticker doesn't tell you is how long I have been at this. I started about 1 year ago. And as you can see I am only down about 20lbs. 197 was my highest weight.

Having said that, I have started taking all of this serious about 2 months ago. I signed up for a triathlon. I actually paid $35 to do it. Sounds crazy but that has given me motivation. The triathlon is next Saturday. So I started looking for the next thing. Today was the first day of a fitness challenge at the local gym. The individual (male & female) with the highest weight loss wins $100 dollars and that was free to join. It doesn't end until April. So I have extra motivation to lose the weight. Next on the list may be a half marathon in June. I may be a big girl but I can run! Well I guess that depends on your definition of running lol. Started out walking and after 1 year I am up to 3.67 miles in 40 minutes. So about 5.5mph.

So that is my weight loss journey so far.

Ann72, I keep going back and forth, trying again. And I'm really tired of having to start over. I think the idea that keeps me going is that its got to be easier to keep moving forward than to start over again. I am terrified that I'll have to start over again.

I've got a short term goal that I've got my eye on, and that helps me. I think coming on as close to daily as possible and posting how we are doing, at least in the beginning, might be helpful. What does everyone else think?

I'm doing well so far. Despite working really long hours this week (until 5am one morning) I managed only to snack on grapes - I know they have sugar but better than the dreaded chocolate!! So I am pleased with myself. I need to maintain that level of self control all weekend too.

flora-Good for you! Grapes are much better than chocolate. That's a big step forward.

Michele-it is really hard, but at least we're here and ready for the challenge. I find the support of a group to be very helpful to me when losing weight.

LT'sgirl- thanks for sharing. 20lbs is something to be proud of, even if it's taken a while. I think I've gained 20 in a year, so you're way ahead of me.

There were a lot of different factors that played into getting motivated last Jan. I wish I could say that I started and never stopped, but I had a period of time in the Fall that I was getting very little sleep, and was highly stressed...this combo led me to decide I needed to take a break and I could get started again when things settled down. In theory this was good, but the stress eating caused me to gain more weight then I expected.

I got motivated again when I stepped on the scale and realized that I was about to leave onederland. This was when I decided enough was enough and I started CCing again.

My motivation to keep the scale moving down include, graduation in May, Job interviews coming up, being comfortable in a swim suit this summer while playing with my kids, being healthy, getting rid of some of these aches and pains from carrying around extra weight.
I also have an evil motivation. :) I challenged a really competive person in my program, who was saying she wanted to lose some weight, to see who can lose the highest % of weight before graduation. I want to win that challenge.

Ann72 - thanks! I really want to go this properly this time. 2 years ago I got down to 187lbs but when I get sick I tend to comfort eat and give up. So this time I am determined. I don't want to be the fat lady any more.

I'm 38 with a 9 and 13 year old. I lost quite a bit since January of last year, but lost some ground due to medical issues in the fall (Sept-Dec). Now I'm back in the saddle, working out and eating well. :) Nice to hang out with thirty-somethings.

Good day, I would like to join your group. I am 38 two kids. I weigh what I did in my last trimester but there is no baby on board! :( (Six years ago, i might add). Wow that is depressing to see that in print.

I am new to the posting thing. But i am determined to get back to my correct size. To share a bit...I i have been getting really heaver for about three years, before that the scale numbers just crept a bit at a time. I have been half hearted at best to do the work. I've read the books, own the gear (tread mill, recumbant bike, and weights) but the gravitational pull of the couch has been to much for me (or maybe its the gravitational pull of my but?).

I see we are all similar in age, most have kids, and I'm assuming no one held a fork to your head either. I am interested to see where this leads, I think I need a kick in the pants to get going. Perhaps if I have to be accountable for what I eat and what I do for exercise each week - I can (or you can) keep me honest.

I am starting at 185 pounds. yuck. I have given myself the goal to loose 30pounds, and then decide from there. So, ladies if any of you can point me in the direction of things to look at on this site, I am open to any suggestions. I hope this will be a fun place to chat, and a great place for motivation!!

Just checking in for today. Not a good day for me for eating or exercising, but I did at least get to the market tonight and bought lots of healthy foods for the week. it's been a tough week with family in town visiting from out of state, and I just had a lot of obstacles in place for getting started. I'm determined to make this new week a lot more successful. Starting tomorrow, I hope to write in my food and exercise for the day if you all don't mind.

Welcome Daisy! Hope we can work together and help motivate/help one another on this journey. Ah, to be 185 again. I wasn't much lighter than that before I got pregnant. :)

Hi calluna--So glad you're getting back on track. Congrats on the weight you already lost and glad the medical issues are behind you.

flora--I can relate to comfort eating. Such a challenge for me as well. So glad you're ready to get back on track.

envelope--thanks so much for sharing. I wish I had more of a competitive edge, because having that can put a fire under your butt to get going. Hope this group can help you work towards your goals and win that challenge.

I have a Tanita scale - it's programable, and tells you body fat percentage, I know they are not as accurate as getting tested, but they are consistant - ie if you keep using the one scale your results will be consistant, and you can track your downward progression! I think it was about $200, several years ago they are most likey less now.

I need a support group as well! I just turned 32, I am married to a man in the military, and have an 11 year old son. I weight 15 pounds more than I did on the day I delivered him 11 years ago. :cry:
I looked at myself in the mirror tonight and caught an angle that I had apparently never seen before. It highlighted a bonafide belly! I have always had a pooch below my belly button, but now I have a large layer of fat over what I am sure deep down are my abdominal muscles. When I relax it looks like I am about 6 months pregnant.
How did this happen? How have I been so unaware of myself? Are my little eyeballs really that good at editing the parts of myself that I don't want to see?
I also feel like I have no idea where to start. I do this sort of "all or nothing" thing when it comes to eating. I eat either all healthy or all bad - I have no ability to balance myself. I can't maintain all healthy all the of the time and I have been doing the all bad so well that I am now fatter than I have ever been in my entire life.
Where did you start? What changes were the easiest and hardest for you? What changes/life style habits have had the most impact on you?
Please help me. :^:

Daisy- I have a tanita now and love it. I got 12 years out of it, but I think the humidity of the bathroom killed it. I hope to replace it sometime later this week.

Today I went to work I sat when I ate lunch and when I used the bathroom and that was it. My legs ached at the end of the day. Does that count as exercise?

Coffee Luver - I hear you! The only time I really see what my body has become, is when i decide to shop for clothes. Some how I seem to filter it out the rest of the time.

What I am doing, short version - Eating better (smaller portions) Sleeping more (going to bed earlier, TV is not that important) and exercising.

What I am doing, long version - making myself important. I always put myself after my kids and hubby. I am using some time on the weekends for menu planning for the week. I have always been terrible at this. There are some good free sites out there that can help with this, you pick the dinner menu, for example, then print the shopping list, I cross off what I already have (like salt, chicken stock etc) I add the other usual stuff for kids lunches, then when I am done shopping I have no excuse why I cant cook all healty dinners. I have been doing that for about a month, with dinners, this week I have planned breakfast and lunch too. Which actually is a problem as I am leaving home for 4 days for a training course. However I am not affraid.

I can't have junk in the house - i EAT it! If its here I will binge! I know I won't always have that problem (I hope). Once I get to a place of balance, I am hopeful I will have enough respect for myself to limit the crap.

My family loves with food = do good = have a cookie. That's how I was raised, so I must have done really well over the years (ha ha so kidding) But I tend to look at dessert as having deserved it, not so smart, ask my scale. I am changing how I think about that. I dersive to be healthy and feel good, which I dont (but am improving).

Today I did great with food, will be on my bike shortly for 30 min-ish. Yes I will over come the gravity of my couch!

Yeah me!

I hope everyone else hit the bar they set today, if you didnt quite hit it, at least you tried, if you didnt try...tomorrow is a brand new chance to do better, and love yourself!

Hi again!

Exercise didn't happen and isn't going to. My daughter had a rough night and I've been up since 4:45. My only plan for the night is to catch some zzz's.

Overall, I ate well today with the exception of dinner because we ate a relative's house and she made enchiladas. Yummy, but not healthy. Oh, and I had a small piece of cheesecake too. Ugh.

The plan I'm following right now is Jackie Warner's plan from her book This is why you're Fat. For the first 2 weeks (right now), you don't have to adjust your eating. You do have to add in some new foods--2 eggs/day, 1 cup oatmeal, 2 fruits, 2-3 veggies, a whey protein shake, 2-3 liters of water with lemon, and herbal tea in the evening. Besides that, you can eat what you want, but honestly once you eat all those foods you don't seem too hungry for the junk. The point is to get your body used to these foods and start to regulate your hormones. After this two week period, you do follow a stricter plan, but are allowed 2 cheat meals per week.

As for exercise, her book includes a bunch on that, but for now I'm happy to do something physical for a half hour a day (elliptical/walking). I have to start somewhere, I'm so out of shape.

Daisy--I can so relate. I'm a binger and my parents used food as reward and comfort while growing up. I remember when they were getting divorced and I was upset, my mother took me out for an ice cream sundae. I try really hard not to do this with my daughter. I really try to encourage moderation and being in tune with her body signs with regards to hunger. Despite that, I'm scared that she'll learn from me. Children learn most from watching their parents. I really don't want her to struggle with weight, food, and body image like I do. Good for you for making yourself a priority. Like so many moms, the kids/husband/house/job come first and we are at the bottom of the list. Glad to see that you're making some changes to fit yourself and your needs back into your life.

Coffee lover--That sounds like some exercise to me. That's way more than I did! :D I can so relate to what you say. I can't balance. I really don't think that I ever learned effective coping mechanisms, which is why I use food. I am the queen of all or nothing. And, I always feel so overwhelmed with the whole weight loss thing, so I easily give up. And, I honestly do look pregnant at the moment, maybe more so than when I had DD. So sad.

Keep it up, ladies. Glad that we're all here to get started together.

Thanks for the advice and commiseration, Ladies. It seems like you all are doing well; taking things one day at a time. I need to do more of that. My eating today (so far) was pretty good. PB toast (whole grain), dilute OJ, a few sips of coffee for breakfast. Chicken breast sandwich on whole wheat bun with mayo, lettuce & tomato with green iced tea for lunch and then another slice of PB toast with a glass of skim milk and a tablespoon of mini chocolate chips on the toast. YUM. My favorite childhood snack. I made a chili last night with veggie and lean beef.. thats whats for dinner tonight.

Ann72 - that plan sounds interesting, the adding in BEFORE taking out, makes it sounds less difficult. Are you out of the first 2 week period yet?

Daisy72 - You are right. It is about respecting ourselves more. I, too, was rewarded with food and food was "love". Big holiday meals and food traditions. And my mom always had a fully stocked pantry. FULLY STOCKED. :lol:
I just wish it weren't such a difficult process.

Good day today food-wise. Stayed on plan, so that's good. No exercise again, but maybe I'll concentrate on food this week and then add in a bit of activity next week.

Krista--Sounds like a great day. No, I'm just getting started with the first two weeks. Yesterday was my first day. Here's hoping that I can keep the momentum going. I really need to drop some weight. Caught a glimpse of my reflection in the sliding glass door today and let's just say that it was pretty scary. I hate when you have those moments of reality when you really see yourself for what you are. But, at least I'm taking the first steps in the right direction.

Oh, and apparently my scale is now working. I think DD played around with it and I made a few adjustments and it's fine. Good news is that my starting weight was 2lbs less than I expected. LOL.

I'm 38, a mother of 2 (boy 9, girl 7). I started my weight loss journey in Sept 08 and lost 80lbs that year. I went back to school and gained approx 20lbs and somehow between then and now (an 8 month) period I've gained another 30lbs back. Soooo....my first goal is to lose the 50 I've put on and get back to where I was at my lowest. I hope to do this by Sept of 2011. I think it can be done.

When I started the journey I was doing it alone and now my hubby is on plan with me. I can't believe how much easier it is to do together. He was just diagnosed with diabetes and I am so proud of how seriously he is taking this and want to help him while helping myself. I've been searching online for diabetic friendly (and weight loss friendly since they aren't always mutually exclusive) recipes, trying new things (NEVER liked cauliflower before but I roasted it with a tiny bit of EVOO and salt and pepper...guess what? YUMMY!) and learning how tasty weight loss can be.

We're not following a specific plan, just sensible portion sizes, healthy choices, lots of water, TRYING to exercise, and cutting the snacks. My biggest challenge is night time snacking...sometimes I just go to bed so I won't eat! LOL!

It looks like we have a great support here with lots of us sharing many commonalities! Glad to have found you all and am always here to listen, encourage, share recipes! Whatever it takes to get us all to healthier us's!!

Hello Ladies

I am now far far away from home in a hotel, where two floors of it are a nursing home?!? Imagine my confusion on check in. I still think its kind of a funny combo, but the price was right and the rooms had good guest feed back, its newly reno'd, so its fine really...just odd. Whatever

I see there is another Ontarian, holla! there is a Canadian web site called SOS cuisine, the site is free, they can create menu's for specific needs, however that costs, like, $2 per week, but you can search the recepies by just being a member. All the recipies have symbols, like kid friendly, vegan, low fat, cheap etc...to get their basic dinner plans I signed up as basic, you put in the number of people and the meal plans are adjusted. I am sure you will find some that are low fat and diabetic. I have cooked about 14 recipies from that site, and they have all been good, a few needed some tweeking - like a little hot sauce, or a couple of spoonfulls of a family favourite sauce added in. Worth a look. They have a receipe for a quick shrimp paella (? spelling) which is fab, I tend to follow receipies like... a recomendation, I might not put in everything, or use something I like better. So have a look.

I would give myself a B- for eating and a solid B for exercise today, I walked all 3 floors at a near by mall, but not fast enough to break a sweat, so a B
plus I stopped in every shoe store to look at nice boots. I have to tell you this - I finally found a style of boot to try on - mid calf, black leather, buckle detail, AND on super sale! $65.:D Guy goes to get my size and says, wow thats werid...I only have a 9 and 10 left. To which I reply, thats ok, I need a 9. Guy says, no what I mean is the only pair I have left - the right foot is a 9 and the left is a 10! :?: :crazy:too funny, he was so nice, was going to try to get another pair from a different store. I said, please dont sweat it - I am from out of town, its not ment to be. Just my luck

Good morning ladies. It has been a rough week already. Spent the last two days feeling like crap. Didn't get up and hit the gym, ordered in dinner and slept and slept. I think I had a bug because the first day I got up at my usual time to go work out and it was like go back to bed and sleep or puke. So I went back to bed. But today I jumped out of bed and hit the gym. Feel almost like myself again.

So I will have to take it easy over the next two days at the gym cause my triathlon is Saturday! I can't believe it is here. I am a little freaked out and excited at the same time. I am rewarding myself with a trip to see Cirque Du Soleil later in the evening with my kids. I have always wanted to go so I am super excited. :carrot: I also tore off the sheet on my count down and my DH comes home from training in 50 days.

Maybe this will start a new trend. Reward myself with something other then food. Maybe when I reach my goal weight I can talk my husband into a cruise. lol.

Hi everyone,

I Hope you all had a great day today. I am totally under the weather. Yesterday I thought it was just allergies, but today it seems like a nasty cold. Oh well, at least I don't have much of an appetite. That's the one positive to come out of it.

I ate pretty well today, but I'm just not in the mood for my veggies. I'm not a huge fan. Normally, I can choke them down, but with this cold I just don't feel like it. Oh well.

Hi Michelle--Welcome to our group! It's great to have you. Sorry about the weight gain, but it sounds like a great time to lose those 50 lbs that you gained. It makes it so much easier when hubby's on board. Good luck with the nighttime munchies. I struggle with that as well.

Daisy--Glad to see that you're able to do so well even while away. I always have a hard time when I'm not home. So strange that the place is a hotel and nursing home. I've never heard of such a thing. Hope the rest of your trip goes well.

Good evening

my brain is shut down from learning, it's a new way of thinking about projects, so you have to make a conceptiual shift (I can't get the spell checker to work sorry I am a terrible speller)

Food today - I am being responsible, they served pizza for lunch, had only one slice and a bunch of carrots, but had a small rice crispie treat this afternoon, had a healty dinner. Usually when I am away from home I give my self free regin, but not anymore!

no exercise to speak of today. :( But tomorrow is a whole new oppourtinuity to succeed.

(LT's girl - you will love Cirque - any of their shows are amazing! I have seen 2 of them (Orlando and one in Vegas) and both times I left in awe and with a sadness that I do not use my body to it's full potential, I would go again in a heart beat)

I have been thinking of rewarding small milestones, like I was going to get a pretty new lunch bag to start this, but then I decided to make that my 5 pound reward. I need to make a list. hmmm maybe this course in planning can be more helpful in this too.

Time for homework. Feel better Ann.

LT'sgirl--Glad to see that you're feeling better in time for the triathlon. What an accomplishment! Wow, I can't even imagine. I wish you the best of luck. Do you have any specific goals for finishing time, or are you just ok as long as you finish? How did you train for the triathlon?

I started training 8 weeks ahead of time. We spin Mon, Wed, Fri and run Tues and Thur in the morning. Then on Tues, Thur, Sat we swim laps in the pool at lunch. We also throw in some weight training M-F. You would think I would lose weight like crazy, but sadly not so much. Maybe if I would stop eating so much. lol

This is my first Triathlon so I will just be happy to finish. It is an indoor winter triathlon. So 400 meters in the pool, 30 min on a spin bike, and 3 miles on a treadmill. Swimming is my weakness. I feel sssoooooo slow compared to everyone else but at least I am doing it. :)

LT--awesome! I can't wait to hear about how it goes! I bet you drop weight after the fact. Sometimes the body works in strange ways and holds onto weight when you would expect it to let it go. I know they say weight loss is a simple science, but it doesn't work that way for me.

Daisy--Great idea with your rewards for small milestones. How long are you away? Sounds like you're doing really well with eating despite not having the best food options.

calluna--Sounds like you're doing great! Keep it up and keep checking in!

As for me, I'm still sick but it's just a head cold. Got plenty of sleep last night so I'm feeling well today despite all the congestion. Eating is on plan. Exercise is non existent. LOL.

I am heading back home tomorrow after class. So one whole day of sitting, followed by a 4 or so hour drive, so I really doubt I will be exercising tomorrow. So with that in mind - I drove downtown, paid way too much for parking and walked for an hour and 15 min, before a very yummy seafood soup noodle thing. but I did have a brownie, not a huge one though - they are my ultimate weakness! I LOVE brownie's

I have not had too much trouble with portion size during this trip. I thought it would be hard, but the difference for me is (hold on to your seat this has never been thought of before) eating consciously. I know, sad huh? Actually considering how much food is on my plate - deciding that it's enough. Have I really been so non accountable for all these years. :dizzy:

I am so envious of your courage LT's girl - a triathlon is such a great thing to do. I am so proud of you, no matter if you swim a little slower than some of the other people, know you are so much faster than me! :cheer:

to weigh myself...I think once per week is what I would like to do too. To be honest I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks. 2 reasons, I like to do my weigh in first thing in the morning, and I keep forgetting in the morning rush, and because I dont like how much I weigh, so I am afraid that the number hasn't moved. :no:

But I know it must be done, if you dont know where you are, how can you get to where you are going? So would you gals like to pick a day? Give us a common milestone? I have no preference to which day.

Hello everyone! I am super excited today because I got my bodymedia FIT yesterday and I started wearing it today.

I am fighting off a head cold or sinus allergies...just minor pain, so hopefully it just goes away.

I weigh in daily, so any day would be good for me. I know that it does not work for everyone but it works best for me, that way I can track my weight fluctuations annalytically and do not get upset over a high weigh in.

I prefer no weigh in at all...lol. But, if we must, weekly works best for me. Daily would drive me nuts and set me off on too many emotional ups and downs. I vote for Monday or Tuesday. I think (at least for me), it'll help keep me honest on the weekends. I used to do it on Fridays so I could pig out on the weekends and make it up in time for next weekend. I don't want to do that anymore. :carrot:

A weekly weigh in works for me. I agree with Ann on Monday. Hopefully it will keep me on the right path over the weekend if I know I have to weigh in on Monday. Weekends are my weakest days. Not sure why. I am a stay at home mom right now, so my routine isn't that dramatically different from day to day but the weekends just throw me off.

I weighed myself today and I am back on track. I had gained a little at the beginning of the week, but am back down. Now to just keep it going in that direction.

Already walked for an hour this morning. I cleaned the whole upstairs and did all the laundry yesterday, so today my big plans are to clean the downstairs. Taking it easy before tomorrow. I cant' believe it is tomorrow. Not sure which is more exciting to me: my first triathlon or the Cirque Du Solel?
Anyone else have big plans for the weekend?

A bodymedia FIT is alot like the body bugg that they use on biggest loser. I am really having fun with it. It is amazing the data it collects for you.

I have taken 10846 steps today, burned 3222 calories, and during the day had 3 hours and 4 minutes of moderate activity. Last night I laid down for 7 hrs and 44 min but was really only sleeping for 6 hours and 42 minutes of that time. I did toss and turn a lot last night!

Eeeks! My mom makes yummo chocolate chip cookies that she THINKS are better for you because she uses Splenda (brown sugar and the for baking white sugar). Last night we put all the ingrediants into a recipe calculator to find the nutritional value. Ya, lets just say I will NOT be eating any more of those cookies!! My diabetic dad thinks they are "free" because of the Splenda. Here's what I discovered...
206 calories
11 grams of fat
under 1 gram of fibre
There would be 5 whopping WW points in ONE cookie and they are not big cookies. EEEKS!!!

Michelle--wow, 5 points! I think a lot of people make that mistake and assume something is free to eat because it is sugar free or fat free or whatever. I bet if she used 50% whole wheat flour and 50% white it would lower those points and also be more satisfying because of the fiber.

Hi All, made it home safe, to house with two kids and a hubby intact. no giant pile of dishes, and kids rooms intact too. so horay!!

I hope you are finally better Ann, this has been my worst winter for colds ever!

I am way too lazy to do the math like that. But i am sure it would meke me think about many more things.

I have some high maintenance family visiting for the week (hubby's) It will be a struggle this week not to seek comfort in yummy treats. but I am going to stick to the thinking about the potions and I need to up the water I drink, I dont think it counts if it comes in the form of coffee.

So Monday it is - I like the logic about trying to make up the weekend all week long. I will set a reminder in my phone!

Daisy--I totally get it. We just had high maintenance family staying here last week and it was really hard to stay on track (and it's my family, not even my hubby's). Just stay with your mindful eating and you'll do fine.

So today was my triathlon (Daisy :) ). Oh my goodness, it was A LOT harder then I thought it would be. I guess I wasn't completely over being sick. (at least that is what I think the problem was.) I started with the swim and I started overheating. Felt like I was burning up from the inside out. I had to take off my swim cap cause it was holding in the heat. Then the goggles came off. I could have kissed the guy when he said final lap. lol. The bike was a piece of cake. 30 min on spin bike. Then the run. I almost threw up. BUT I finished! This was my first tri ever so that was my one goal. My time for all three was 83.71. So I guess this gives me a time to beat for next time. If there is a next time......my whole body hurts at the moment.

Then off to Cirque du Soleil. OMG it was amazing. They did things that I didn't know was possible with the human body. And I swear there was this one guy..... Has anyone seen Faster with the Rock. There is this guy in the beginning of the movie doing yoga and balancing moves that were pretty impressive. (me and the girls still talk about him lol.) Well this guy put him to shame. I swear he had an eight pack, is that possible?!. Anyways the whole show was pretty fantastic.

Well ladies, I am exhausted and need to get to bed. I will talk with you all tomorrow. good night.

Hi, I would love to join your group. My name is Jacki. I am a mom to 2 teenage children. I started my healthier lifestyle Jan 2, 2011. I am not following any particular plan, just eating lean meat, fruit, veggies, and whole grain/whole wheat. I work out 45 mins a day at the gym (treadmill, eliptical, row machine, weight machines, alternating strenth and cardio days), 4 - 5 days a week. So Far I have lost 16 lbs, 89 to go! :)

Eating went out the window yesterday! So today I will be cleaning and trying to refocus. My weight hasn't changed from my starting weight, but I am hoping that its just yesterday and that darn PMS crap. ( preping myself for Monday) It is so hard to motivate yourself when you dont feel well. like I said worst winter ever for colds, my hands are so dry from extra washing.

So to do today... bite my tongue, clean the house, put away the clothes, oh lord bite my tongue, make a fab dinner for the others comming tonight, clean up, I can't wait until bed.

I would love to start swimming - I grew up on a lake and spent all my summers swimming away. I am just so embarrassed of how I look in bathing suit, and the only place we have to swim is at the local YMCA.

I weighed in today 222 - thats a pound a week weight loss, not to shabby. Now I need to start amping up my effort.

Ann - The GoWearFIT is pretty small and comfortable. I was worried about sleeping with it on since I wear it on the arm that I lay on while sleeping, it does not bother me at all. Come late spring summer, it will be noticeable since most ss shirts would not cover it, but it is not obtrusive, and they have cool skins you can put on it to dress it up a bit.

I have been eating whole foods, and working out at the gym at least 5 days a week (treadmill, elliptical, row, weights machines). Looking to add Jillians 30 Day Shred. Just bought her 6 weeks ab workout, looking to do that after Shred. Has anyone tried it/them?

I weighed in this morning and lost 4 lbs. Pretty happy about that, but it's only my first week. LOL. I am also pretty much over the cold, so I was able to get in 30 mins on the elliptical. Right now, I'm just planning on doing 30 mins of cardio per day. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Jacki--I am doing Jackie Warner's diet from her book. I've only put in one week, but so far so good.

You know that might be a good idea. I have a few friends that are "childfree" I am not as I have two cute sons. Our kids are certainly not the main focus of this thread and we welcome all men and women in their 30's regardless of their status with regards to marriage or children. Mornings are not my thing, but I am trying. so weigh in 183! 2 pounds - set off the fire works, that is the first time that number has gotten smaller in a very long time.

Cosmic gal - to be honest I dont have any baby weight to loose either, after each pregnancy I got very close to my starting weight. When your baby is 6 years old, I dont think it counts as baby fat, its just fat. But I am sure there are Threads for those with out kids, or you could start one.

Congrats to all of us for our first Offical weigh in. I am actually looking forward to next week.

Holy cow! So how is the weather where you are? It is -18F here. With the windchill it is -45F! That's right negative 45. They say that if you are outside longer than 5 min without proper clothing you can get frostbite. So I am staying inside as much as possible. My poor puppies. I put them outside and watched them and as soon as they went potty I called them back inside and they were limping.

Ann72- glad to hear you are over your cold and down 4 lbs woo-hoo! Nothing worse then feeling sick though. blah.

My kids are 17 (18 in May) and 18 (19 next month). I have always been thin, during my pregnancy, and after my children were born (size 5 after my first pregnancy, size 7 after my second). I didn't start gaining weight until they were 9 and 10 years old (maintained a size 7/8 the whole time). Everyones body is different, mine obviously wasn't baby fat, but I would love to blame it on that! haha

Fresno, I hope you find the support group you are looking for. :)

LTs girl--Where are you? That's crazy cold! I don't mean to rub it in, but we were in the mid 70's today (I live in FL). LOL, sorry. You can rub it in to me over the summer when it's 95 with 100% humidity! Congrats on your loss!

Jacki--yup, wish I could blame mine on the babe. I am heavier now than before I had her, but I've been heavy for most of my adult life.

Ann you are so lucky! I live in IL, about 40 mins from Chicago. We were hit with a blizzard last night, talk about FREEZING! Last night was horrible, it is not over yet, have more of the storm coming today. I heard thunder and saw lightning last night, it was crazy! I can't let the dog out our back door, it is literally packed with snow. LOL

I am in Cheyenne, WY. It is still crazy cold here but it is supposed to get up to 43F by Friday. Someone please explain to me how there can be a 60 degree change in just 3 days? Don't get me wrong, I'll take it, but this weather is driving me crazy. I can't wait to move this fall. Hopefully before the cold weather again and someplace WARM all year round. lol.

Jacki - The blizzard missed us. We only got the freezing cold. But my poor puppies don't want to go outside. We have been watching them very closely when we let them out so as soon as they are done doing their "business" we get them right back in. It is still -45 with the windchill. One of the dogs came in limping the yesterday, even though it was right out then right back in. After 5 minutes warming up he was fine. Can dogs get frostbite? I don't know and I don't want to find out..lol

Got my 90 min of working out in this morning. Still not seeing the scale move. I know I shouldn't be, but I am scale addict. I should have the kids hide it from me. lol.

I'm new to this part of the forum! My name is Jenn and I am 29. I am 5'1'' and have 45-50 lbs to lose. I am single and have no kids. My work keeps me very busy and offers me MANY unhealthy temptations (bagels, donuts, cookies, homemade cakes are ALWAYS around..), but I am trying to only allow extras once a week.
I started dieting a couple of weeks ago (the first week was a disaster, I did better last week) and also started exercising for 30 minutes almost every day.
I am also looking for one (or more) buddies to check in and be accountable. If anyone is interested, please just let me know!

Hi Jenn--Welcome to our thread! Glad to have you. You can definitely check in here daily and let us know how you're doing. What kind of plan are you on? I'm also doing 30 mins per day of exercise while I'm doing Jackie Warner's eating plan.

LTs girl--That is some crazy temperature changes. We've had some of our own here. One day it'll be 30 in the morning and the next day it's 80 degrees. Wacky weather this year. Why don't you try weekly weighing? I used to go nuts when I weighed in daily. The little ups and downs were hard to take. Put the scale in a closet and take it out one day per week and see if that helps.

Jacki--I saw that crazy weather you're having on the news. Thunder and lightening with snow?! Nuts. I saw that people couldn't even walk with the heavy winds. Stay warm and stay safe.

How's everyone doing today? I'm doing well. Walked on the treadmill for 30 mins and been eating well so far. Hope you all have a great day!

... and then there's day like this... it's Chinese New Year today, and one of the girls in the office brought Chinese candies in. Bags and bags of candies. They have been sitting around all day and it's really hard not to eat some. Plus, they are really good.... I couldn't help myself and ate almost 2 servings... but that's enough... I'm going to have a light dinner to make up for the sugars!!

Ann72- Being a scale addict doesn't bother me.....it's the fact that this is my 9th week of really working out and trying hard (not always perfect at eating) and not seeing the scale move. I started at 185 and am currently at 178. That is the most frustrating part.

It was a pretty good day. I was craving DQ and decided not to get in the car and go get it. I didn't say anything to the kids. I know if I did, they would have talked me into going. So I suffered in silence.

So I found my next challenge to keep myself motivated. I am flying to MS to visit my husband and while I am there we are going to do the Warrior Dash. It is a crazy 3.18 mi race with obstacles. Here is the website if you want to check it out. www.warriordash.com I can't wait.

Hi All (welcome too.)

My plan is starting slow, in the past when I try to make lots of big changes I fail, and gain a few. This time, I have started slower, cut out pop, once that was normal, I started on portion size. now that's normal, so now I am adding 30 minutes perday of something. It took a few years for this weight to creep on, so I have to be a little patient. Right?

I had done nothing for exercise today, and then took a quick peek at this forum, before I felt I could post anything, I walked away from the computer and got on the bike for 30 min. So today was not about building a better body for me, I did the 30 min out of guilt and I'm ok with that. ;) It got my butt on the bike.

Family visit blew up a couple of days ago, short story manipulative mother in law burned herself bad, and her son's called her on it. The best part - no one seems mad. They called her out, she went home (was staying with us) and the rest of the visiting is goin on. I get to meet my new nephew tomorrow for the first time! I am so excited. The hard part will be the food for the weekend, superbowl party on Sunday - that's Hockey right? (kidding)

Keep sweating! It's worth it!

LTs girl, I hear ya! We plan on moving some place warm, in the near future (born and raised in Chicago). I am not sure if they can get frostbite, but with the weather that cold, they do not need to be out there any longer than needed (to go potty). I have a 90 lb golden retriever, he only goes out to go potty when it gets really cold. You are doing GREAT! I know how frustrating it can be, when the scale doesn't move, but you are doing everything right, it only has one direction to go (down). :) OMG, the Warrior Dash looks wicked! I couldn't do it, but would LOVE to watch! LOL Please keep us updated how that event goes! Would love to hear all about it! :)

Ann, Thank you! Yes, I never experienced anything like that. It was CRAZY! The lightning lit up my bedroom, I was shocked! Everything is better today, all of the roads are cleaned up. Don't plan on going out unless I have to. :)

Daisy, that is a great approach! You know what has worked and hasn't worked in the past. Sorry to hear about the family drama. That is awesome you get to meet your nephew! Superbowl is a big day for a lot of people, like Christmas and Thanksgiving! I hope you can fight off the temptations! ;)

Today I am doing great! I changed my lifestyle 1 month and 1 day ago. I feel awesome! I can't believe how much energy I have. Truly a great feeling!

Does anyone drink protein shakes in the morning? Every morning, I make a shake, it consists of: Silk milk (4 oz), apple juice (4 oz), 1 scoop of Muscle vanilla protein, baby spinach (huge handful), ground flaxseed (1 tablespoon), psyllium husk powder (1 tablespoon), walnuts halves (1/8 cup), and frozen fruit (8 oz).

My alarm went off this morning and my body said no way. So some time today I need to hit the treadmill. I hate it when I don't get my workout done in the morning. I have a hard time finding time at other times in the day. Or I am just too tired at the end of the day. Maybe after the smaller ones go to bed tonight. *Fingers crossed*

Daisy- I had to laugh at your motivation (guilt) to get on the bike. To be honest, building a better body is almost never my motivation. It is feeling guilty because I am not helping my team for the weight loss challenge, wanting to be "skinny" again, and to look good before my husband comes back. Being healthy and having a stronger body is just an afterthought. lol.

Glad to hear that no one is mad after a blow up. Enjoy the rest of your visit. I have been hearing all of the shows talking about healthy recipes for the party. It might be worth looking into.

Jacki - I have a protein shake every once in a while. It has ice, 8oz water, 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, Psyllium husk, 1 scoop of whey protein, 1/4 of banana, 1 tsp of flaxseed oil, and some honey.

It does look wicked. I just hope I can keep up with the hubby. It isn't until March 5th so I am going to work out with the challenge in mind.

I was completely in that rut of if I didn't get my workout done before work, I wasn't doing it. I got so disgusted with myself that I finally grabbed my gym shoes and decided that if I couldn't get my butt out of bed, then I would suffer through the gym after work.

Turns out, I actually like the time frame...can't say as I enjoy the extra people at the gym at that time of the day, but it's working for me! Good luck!

Hi everyone- I have a busy day today, but wanted to check in quickly. Hope everyone's having a great day. I've been eating well and got in a quick 30 minute walk today.

Digital- I finally gave up setting the alarm for 5. I just can't get my lazy butt up early like that. I value my sleep too much, so I just get the exercise in when I can.

LT-- I'm so impressed by your workouts. That race looks crazy. I hope to build up my level of fitness so I can keep up with you one day.

Jacki- wow, what a shake! Sounds like a lot of goodness in one cup! I do a whey protein shake everyday with berries. I want to add some spinach to get that in, but no courage yet. I'm scared it'll taste funny.

Daisy-- I totally agree on taking babysteps. I've lost weight quickly on countless strict diets and it hasn't served me well. This time I'm making it a lifestyle. Glad we're here to help guilt you into exercise. Whatever it takes.

Jen- those office treats are the worst!!

Hey everyone! Yesterday I was able to attend a conference all day, which was great from a career standpoint but not from a weightloss one. We sat all day long, and it was a working lunch so you ate what was provided.

After the conference, I read an email that had me extremely stressed...it has all been resolved, but it definately created some stress eating. The good thing was that while I ate more than I should have. I was able to keep it from getting way out of control by reminding myself that I just made it out of the 190s and that I did not want to let my stress eating taking me back.

LTs Girl - I really like the data from my bodymedia, but I am slightly fustrated that I can not get it to "pair" with my droid. I would love to beable to see through out the day the amount of steps, cal.s burned etc. Right now I have to wait until I can plug it in at home.

LTs girl, I know how you feel. Mornings are the best for me. I go to the gym at least 5 nights a week with my husband. Since I get up at 5am, I am tired come 7pm. LOL

Ann, I honestly don't think the spinach alters the taste one bit. I use to put the baby spinach on top of everything, but noticed it didn't get blended well enough, so now put it in the blender after the liquid, under the dry ingredients and frozen fruit. When done my shake fills a 16 oz cup.

Tomorrow is my weigh in. I try not to get on the scale before then, but it is hard! LOL Weighed in yesterday and I lost 2 lbs. I think I will have a good one, but aunt flo is here, so I am feeling a little bloated. Just makes for a better weigh in next week. ;) Hope everyone is doing good! :)

So glad it is Friday! The weather is warming back up ....it is supposed to hit 38F today. I can't believe how warm 38 feels. lol.

No big plans for the weekend. I was disappointed b/c I thought gnomeo and juliet came out this weekend, and I was going to take the kids. Oh well. I know what I am doing next weekend. :) Maybe I can have a girls movie night and go see the mechanic.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend?

38 degrees sound great! Not sure what the temp is here, but the sun is shining and feels a little warmer. I love that! Girls movie night sounds great! No big plans for the weekend, child birthday party tomorrow, the rest of the weekend will be spent at the gym and staying on track. My sister messaged me the food list and nothing is healthy (pizza, spaghetti, garlic bread, taco dip, spinach dip, chips, and soda). Definitely not worth it to me. I will be eating before I get there, and bringing some snacks for while I am there (pretzels, carrots, celery and cucumbers). Hopefully it is as easy as I think it will be in my head! :) Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is well. Any exciting weekend plans? Superbowl parties? I have a quiet day planned for today. May take DD to the park and get a walk in, cook dinner, that's about it. Tomorrow we are having neighbors over for superbowl. It'll be hard to stay on plan tomorrow. I just plan to enjoy a little bit of the junky food and try to practice moderation. That is a new world to me.

I've managed to eat on plan pretty much all week and I exercised monday through friday (just my half hour). Overall, a good week. Not sure what the scale will say on Monday (especially after superbowl eating), but we'll see. I'm feeling well overall and I hope you are too. Doesn't it feel good to be taking better care of our bodies? It does for me.

Jacki--Oh my, sounds like yummy foods but not so healthy. Maybe you can offer to bring a dish and bring something a little healthier? How did weigh in go?

LTs girl--I'm so glad to have you here. I'm so inspired by what you're doing with yourself with regards to fitness. Hope you're enjoying the "warmer" weather. It's been feeling a bit like summer around here...in the 80's and a bit humid. :(

envelope--I hear ya on the stress eating. So great that you're so much more aware of it and able to stop yourself before you do it. Keep it up, you're doing so great with your weight loss.

I'm 32 and have 3 boys (12, 8, 7). I workout 6 days a week but for only 4 hours total! I love it. I eat 6 times a day and I love that too. The last things I love are 3 fats chicks and American Idol. And I guess my husband and kids go on that list. ;) And my job. Well, I love a lot of stuff! LOL

I started my week out at 201 and today and in at 193. There's a whole story there involves TOM so I'm not promoting a crazy radical normal week of weightloss for me. I'm glad that I blog because I love to re read what I wrote and see what's been effecting me and my weight loss efforts. It's been a stready trend down and that's always reassuring!

Digital Sinner- That's exactly how I feel about the gym! I just started feeling that way since I started again in June (stalled out in Oct, Nov, Dec) This is the first time that if I missed the gym I went after work no matter what. Once allowed myself to drink an energy drink right before. I miss my friends in the morning time if I go in the afternoon. I don't know those people! lol

Evelope- That's such an awesome mindset to have. That's what got me where I am so far! It's so empowering to find that sort of inner strength.

Jacki- I've found that when I bring my snacks with me, visualize that me at that party in control and making sure that what I bring will be more appealing to me than what's there. It's worked! I feel the same way I did when I visualized it. Have you ever had cottage cheese and black bean and corn salsa? 1 c cottage cheese and .5 cup or so of the salsa. Put that in a microwave and you can even eat some blue chips or whole wheat chips with it if you make sure that you limit yourself to a serving. You can eat the cheese and salsa by itself and it's just as wonderful. That's awesome that you're planning! Good luck :)

Ann-Fortunately I'm not any kind of fan of football and will just be relaxing at home folding clothes or something :) And you're right it does feel awesome to be doing that!

Good morning everyone! I had an awesome weigh in, down 5.8 lbs! I am 233.2! :) It would be awesome to see the 220's next week. Dh (he lost 4.6 lbs) and I went to the gym for 1 hour of cardio (30 min treadmill, 30 min elliptical) in the am, and did our food shopping for the week. We had an early dinner (turkey meatballs, whole wheat pasta, sauce and a salad), party was at 5:30 pm. I brought an apple, and a veggie bag (cucumber slices, celery/carrot sticks). Didn't steer off plan! They added more to the menu (fried chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and gravy). My sister and her husband (we are married to brothers), kept asking us to eat. LOL It was SUPER easy saying no and meaning it! I am so proud of myself! In the past, I would have made excuses, so this is a huge accomplishment! :)

Hello and welcome suenos096! :) Thanks for the recipe, I will definitely try it! The plan in my mind sounded great, but knowing my 3 sisters and brother in law, they like to sabotage us. I know in the end it is our decision, and we make the choices, but when you are first on plan, it is harder than when you have been living this lifestyle a bit longer.

I have one more obstacle to get through this Friday. It is my daughters 19th birthday. :) Like i said before, in the past I would come up with ANY excuse to eat whatever I wanted. I planned her dinner 2 weeks ago. We are cooking: ribeye steaks (we do not eat red meat often, maybe once every 2 weeks), garlic mashed cauliflower (anyone try this? I LOVE it!), and roasted brussel sprouts. As for the cake, we are buying one from the Cheesecake Factory. She loves cheesecake! So do I, but once again, not worth it to me. I feel confident that I will stay on plan! :)

Ann, hope you have a great time! Who are you rooting for? I am not huge into sports, but love going to the games! I am rooting for Green Bay! The last game, Green Bay against the Bears, I was rooting for Green Bay, and I live in IL. haha My mom was born and raised in WI so maybe that has something to do with it! She loved them! :)

Forgot to add, I have Jillians 30 Day Shred, and 6 week Six Pack. I am starting both tomorrow! I will let you know how all of that goes! LOL I told dh I was interested in P90x, so he is buying it for me for Valentines Day! Did anyone see a sample video on it? Killer! haha I feel great, and can't wait to get it! Once again, my mind can see me being able to do it, we shall see the reality aspect when I do day 1! haha

Dh asked me if I was just looking to do P90x. Long story short, I am our trainer. I plan/schedule our workout routines. I told him no, we are still going to the gym 5 days a week! haha I think he was looking to relax! ;) He is the chef, cooks dinner. Both of us plan our menu, I take care of breakfast (shake that I posted before), and I prep the kitchen (clean/chop veggies/make salads), and he cooks! I think we make a GREAT team! :)

Just finished my workout! I did Jillians 30 Day Shred and 6 week Six-Pack, back to back. I am wiped out! LOL Shred was great! Six-Pack, there were a couple I couldn't do, walk out plank and a side plank, working your inner thigh. So I did another exercise instead of those 2. LOL

Hi there,

I ate WAY too much last night at our superbowl party. I swore I wouldn't do it and then found myself just doing it. I'm just planning to put it behind me and get right back on track today. I still weighed in today since it's my weigh in day. It wasn't pretty. I was up .5/lb, which isn't too surprising given what I ate last night (chips, dip, pizza, brownies, etc). So, back to the plan today and no excuses. It's ok to get off once in a while as long I as get right back on. In the past, I would let a slip up like that get me off plan for an entire day/week/ or forever. Not anymore!!!! Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the game last night.

Jacki--You are doing awesome!!!!! Keep it up, girl. I bet it makes it so much easier when DH is on board with you, right? Mine wants nothing to do with my plan, although I keep hoping he'll join me as he could use to drop some weight as well.

Jacki I have P90x. It is a little crazy and some of the moves hurt my knees. Just a heads up each video is about 1 hour long.

I have a problem with working out at home. I am always getting interrupted by the kids or the dogs (if I lay on the floor I usually get a lick to the face). If I wait till everyone is in bed then I am too tired. I know, excuses, excuses. But I am impressed that you have the discipline to do it at home.

I need to tell someone so here is a warning: RANT ahead

You all know that I joined a fitness challenge with my workout partner. She has been bragging about how she is running 4.79mi in an hour on her treadmill at home and losing weight. Well we got an email 2 days ago with an update on the teams/individual progress. I am leading the females with a 2.82% bodyfat loss. So I called my friend and told her about it . (I wasn't trying to be snotty. I was excited our team was on the list) She came over to watch the superbowl yesterday and said she had called the gym. She asked about her weigh ins. Apparently only one of her weights were put in. She continued to inform me that she added up her weightloss and she is at 5% bodyfat loss. She told the lady at the gym not to worry about it and she would let me have the glory.....for now.

So she is making this into a competition between us. I didn't join to beat her. I joined to give myself motivation. Grrrrrrr.

My DH says she is jealous and to keep doing what I am doing, because I am obviously losing weight. The problem is now I WANT to beat her. I don't just want to beat her, I want to crush her. I don't want to sabotage her weight loss or anything like that. I just want to beat her.....I'm just not sure that I can. She is always talking about how much she works out. Maybe it is time I step up my game. Use this as motivation? Am I crazy? What do you all think?

Ann, Yes put it behind you, and move forward! In the past I was the same way, let a slip dictate my day/week/months. It happens, can't beat yourself up over it! :) Yes, it is nice having my husband on board. I still have things in the house that I don't eat, and make seperate meals for my kids (17 and 18). My daughter usually eats what we have, but sometimes prefers something else. My son, is 6'4" 180 lbs, and has no interested in our meals. LOL We go to the gym at night, after dh gets off work. I would prefer to work out during the day (home and gym), but I know he will not go to the gym by himself. I get up at 5am, when 7:30pm rolls around I am too tired to think about the gym, but find the energy! LOL I hope your husband gets on track! :)

LTs girl, I know what you mean, I have a 90 lb golden retriever and 3 cats. I have to keep my dog in the kitchen during my workouts. The cats are better but still a pain in the butt! haha Thanks for the heads up, I have a bad knee too!

Good morning,

Hope everyone is well today. Well, I struggled with getting back on track yesterday. I made chocolate chip mini muffins for my daughter (a healthier version with whole wheat flour and butternut squash thrown in). In the late afternoon I found myself popping them one after the other. Ugh. I hate these slip ups, but I'm still just going to stay on course. Still continuing my workouts and my healthy eating. Planning on not adding in any extra treats today!!!

whisperingshouts--hope you got back on track yesterday!!!!

LTsgirl--You are doing awesome! Sounds like quite a competitive woman you're dealing with here. That would totally turn me off, but you can use it as a good motivator to keep yourself on track and put in 105% so that you can beat her. It just sucks that you have to get that level of competition from a teammate!!!

Jacki--Hope you're doing well. I'm so motivated by your motivation! Keep it up.

Snow, snow, and more snow. I already shoveled once today and it doesn't even look like I touched it. So I am going to shovel it again. At least it is a good workout! Maybe this will be the last snow of the season. Next week is supposed to be in the high 40's. wishful thinking on my part. lol

I am eating okay, but I have not been hitting the gym in the morning. I didn't go again this morning. :mad: My gym partner's husband is back so maybe we can get back to our schedule. I do better when I know someone is waiting for me. (Even if she is being competitive) Maybe she is just using it to push me harder. Who knows. I will just ignore the negative and focus on the working out.

My hubby comes home for a visit in 1 week and 3 days. I am so excited. Then 2 weeks after that I go and see him. Then 2 weeks after that he comes home to stay. This has been a long nine months. So glad it is almost over.

Hi all

Sorry for the delay, all the family finally left at 06:00 Monday morning to catch their plane. I forgot how much sleep you lose with a 3 month old in your house. I think I was delirious on Monday, forgot to weigh myself.

So after the Superbowl feast - I Remain the same 183 - thank goodness. I guess the little bit of muscle that is growing is helping.

I would be ticked if my workout partner did that too. But the others are right you can use that to fuel yourself farther ahead. Karma will catch her if her intentions are evil :devil:

I feel like the portion control problem I was having is much better now. I look at my plate before I start eating, and say to my self...self, is that the right amount of food? Usually the answer is yes, sometimes the answer is to put some back. I really need to drink more water in the day, I find winter hard to do that, its so stinkin cold!

I think yoga will be the workout for tonight, I sweat like crazy, but always feel calmer after.

Daisy - welcome back! I love it when family come to visit, but I am always a little happy when they leave to get my house back and my routine back. Sounds like you should also enjoy a couple of good nights sleeping. I am so glad those days are over. Thankfully all of my kids are good sleepers.

The same is great, considering family visiting and superbowl weekend. As far as drinking water, I bought myself a fancy bottle (from Wal-mart) to drink only water from. I hate drinking from a regular glass. I don't know why, but when I drink it out of there it is so much easier to drink more. Not sure if it is a mental thing or not. :crazy:

Biggest Loser is tonight. Already warned the kids.....my show is on tonight, let me know if you need anything now because I will be busy during this time. :)

I wasn't able to do Shred today, didn't get up early enough before work. I work 3 days a week as a nanny. I was off the past 2 weeks. It was nice! Wish I started Shred sooner! LOL Going to the gym tonight, 1 hour of cardio (30 mins treadmill, 30 mins elliptical). I started my journey 1 month and 1 week ago. Added exercise 3 weeks ago, my body feels great! I am a little sore today, but I love that feeling! :)

How is everyone doing today? What is your exercise routine for today? What are you having breakfast, lunch and dinner? I love seeing what other people are eating. It gives me ideas! :)

For breakfast I had a protein shake (soy milk, apple juice, kale, scoop of Muscle protein, walnuts, flaxseed, psyllum husk, and frozen blueberries). Lunch I am having turkey chili w/ butternut squash. Dinner will be breaded chicken with broccoli and alfredo sauce (chicken tenderloins dipped in egg, whole wheat bread crumbs and seasoned mixture, fried (pan with Pam), then finished off in the oven). They are awesome! :)

Jacki--I like your idea of posting food/exercise. I think I'll do the same! Wow, your workouts are incredible! Makes me look like a slacker. Glad the snow is supposed to stop and the weather will warm up for you! Sounds like some great visits are in the works, and I'm glad you're hubby will be home soon. Must be so hard being apart. Mine is away for a 5 day ski trip with the boys and it's rough on me!!!

Daisy--Sooo glad to see you! I was about to book a trip to Ontario to come rescue you. Could you see me calling out your name all throughout the province? Big sigh of relief that the family is gone. It is nice to have them, but even nicer to have the peace again once they leave. I know this sounds really awful, but I hate having guests stay with me, even family. I just like my house the way it normally is. Hope the yoga helped yesterday and that you're feeling a sense of calm.

I'm doing well. Managed to resist temptations yesterday and today. Yay me! Been working out and eating well. I'll pop on later and post my food/exercise totals.

I had a protein shake for breakfast this morning. Soup and salad for lunch. Haven't even thought about dinner. lol. I have some boneless porkchops thawed. So I should do something with those.

I once again didn't get up with the alarm. *sigh* However I did my Zumba game for the kinect xbox 360 for the first time. I was a sweaty mess by the end. (only 30min) I was really excited about it because it was fun. I think I am adding that to my daily task. I feel better now that I did something and I promised myself that I would get my a** out of bed tomorrow and hit the treadmill. I have less then a month before the race so I need to get some running in.

Welcome Red74! I haven't heard about Jackie Warner's plan? What's it like?

Jacki - I love the sore feeling too. As long as I can walk the next day. One time I did calf raises with too much weight and I could barely move the next day. My co-workers thought it was funny.

Gotta run. Need some fresh fruit. My kids keep eating it. I want to be upset and say "Hey, that is mine" but they are eating healthy snacks so I really can't yell at them. lol. talk with ya later.

I did that too, LTsgirl! I did squats, lunges and calve raises with too much weight, I couldn't move! I was messed up!! I never did that again! haha I know how you feel, but yes, it is great they are eating that instead of junk! :)

Good morning :)

Day 3 of Shred this morning! I wasn't able to fit in Six-Pack, but I am fine with that! Haha Breakfast was my usual shake, but I added baby spinach, and frozen strawberries (in place of kale and blueberries). Lunch is a grilled chicken caesar salad (romaine lettuce, baby spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes and a light caesar dressing). Dinner will be 3 chicken fajitas (seasoned chicken cooked with red and yellow sweet peppers and onions, topped with guacamole, tomatoes and shredded romaine lettuce on a corn tortilla (fried in a pan with Pam). Each fajita taco is 200 calories. They are packed and REALLY good! :)

Tomorrow is my daughters 19th birthday! Normally I used birthdays for an excuse to cheat. Not anymore! :) We have a nice day planned! I took off work, to decorate the house and wrap her gifts. My husband did too, then again he takes off every year for all of our birthdays. Bad thing is my daughter has to work, but only til 2pm. Gives me time to go to the gym, pick up her cake, balloons and get everything in order. :) if you don't hear from me tomorrow, you know why! LOL

Good Morning ladies! I am in serious need of some coffee this morning. I have a Thursday ritual with my 13yr old son that we stop at Starbucks: coffee for me and hot chocolate for him on the way to school. I get the skinny caramel machiatto. It's nice because it is just something the two of us do together. :)

I did get up and go to the gym this morning. Yay! It was an hour later then usual, but I did it. So I am not going to beat myself up over it. I only got to spin for 30 minutes so I plan to do my Zumba again today.

Jacki I love ckn fajitas. One of my favorite meals. Wow 19. Mine isn't too far behind. We are always worried that we will be stationed somewhere, he will start college, and then we have to move. I will feel like we are leaving him behind. Then again he has always talked about joining the Air Force himself, so he may be leaving us behind. Gotta let them go sometime. lol. We still have 4 years to figure it out. (he turns 14 this June.)

We are going this weekend to see Gnomeo and Juliet. Can't wait. I'm thinking of lunch before we go so I won't be tempted by the popcorn and junk at the counter.

Well today is a big day at our house! My little girl is 19! :) Dh and I are off work. She has to work til 12:30pm. Gives me time to get stuff done around here. No Shred today, dh and I are going to the gym in 1 hr after we drop her off. Today is strength day, 15 min warm up on the elliptical, and 1 hr of weight machines (arms, back, chest, shoulders, stomach, legs). I can't wait! I love strength days.

I had my shake for breakfast. Lunch will be 2 chicken fajita tacos. Dinner will be grilled ribeye steak, creamy garlic mashed cauliflower, and roasted brussel sprouts.

I drank a lot of water yesterday, 11 bottles, 185 oz! I normally drink anywhere from 100 - 120 a day. So that was a record! LOL Just had to share!

Ann I hope you are feeling better this morning. They are passing around the bug at my house. Last week it was my middle daughter and this week it is my oldest daughter. Uhhhgg. Washing my hands and sanitizing EVERYTHING so I don't get it.

Jacki - last time I tried to smuggle in some sodas and they caught me.....they confiscated it at the door and said I could have it back after the movie. How embarrising. :o So I will just eat before and then go. lol.

Zumba this morning and then there is a spinning class today at 11. So can't chat long. Protein shake for breakfast, small bowl cereal, turkey sandwich with fruit for lunch, and tacos for dinner. I split the meat Half turkey breast/half lean beef. Can't do all turkey yet. Something about the texture.....

Headache is better today, thanks for your well wishes. I don't think I'll get a workout in today with my hectic schedule, but I'm aiming for 6 days/week and I think I'll get that in this week. I think my food has been pretty good, though I did go to a friend's last night and wound up eating pizza for dinner (did plenty of salad and a little bit of pizza). The weekend should be quiet, which is a good thing. How about the rest of you? Anything exciting planned?

Hi LTs girl--I know what you mean about the turkey, especially if it's the super lean 99% fat free kind. It's so dry it is hard to chew and swallow. Lean beef is a good option and tasty as well. I'll also sometimes do the turkey with a little more fat (still low fat, just not super dry).

Jacki--Happy Birthday to your DD! Wow, 19 is a big one. Hope you all enjoy her birthday celebrations.

Beila--Welcome! We are a great group of buddies! Hope you decide to stick around this thread. It is very supportive! Good luck with your plan.

I do not have any big plans for the weekend...which is wonderful! I do need to get the house clean...maybe I can get it all done today. I am hoping to get some extra sleep I am just feeling worn down.

I just looked out my window and it is snowing. It looks so pretty, but I am READY for spring.

I am going to try to gather up some energy to see how much I can done around the house and how quickly I can accomplish it. The nice thing about my body media is that it will tell me how many calories my cleaning spree burned. :)

I've lost 2.5 pounds since the other day! Yesterday I did about 3 hours of cardio and burned 1400 calories! I did the elliptical for about 1 hour and the treadmill for about 30 min. Then wen to the park for 1.5 hours and jogged/walked. Today I went on the treadmill for about 1 hr 45 min and jogged/walked and burned 800 calories!

I'm also on the "binge free challenge" thread, so if you're like me, post a message on that thread too so we can be binge free!

Looking forward to hearing what everyone else is doing!

Hello everyone! :)

Weighed in today at 231.4 it is a 1.8 lb loss. I REALLY expected a better weigh in today, but I will take it! haha My daughters birthday was great! I STAYED on plan, that had to be the first time ever! It was very easy! :)

LTsgirl, omg that had to be some night! We had dinner about 30 mins before showtime, so I didn't bring anything into the theater. I was content! :)

Beila congrats on your weight loss!

Today, I went to the gym, 30 mins on the treadmill, and 30 mins on the elliptical. Dh ordered me Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30, comes out March 1st. I can't wait to check it out! :)

Went and saw Gnomeo and Juliet today with the kids. eh. I enjoyed Tangled much better. But the kids liked it.

It was sort of a birthday thing for my friend's son. We went to McDonalds for lunch to let them eat and play at the playplace before the movie. I did not want to eat McD. so I went to Chipotle and brought my food from there. (thought it would be a better choice) Now up almost 3lbs from same time last night. Blah. Guess we shall see what the scale says tomorrow morning.

Is anyone else feeling like they are becoming obsessive about weight loss? I weigh myself everyday, compare myself to what others are doing to workout, track all of my calories, and I feel like it invades my thoughts constantly. Good thing my husband isn't here, or he'd think I was having an affair with a guy named the gym. lol.

Hi ladies,

All is well in my neck of the woods. DH has been away for 4 days (did a skiing trip with the boys), so it's definitely been quieter in the house. We miss him though and we're ready for him to come home. He'll be here tonight. Other than that, been a busier weekend than I expected. Lots of rain until yesterday afternoon, but now it's gorgeous and cool (for us). I've been eating pretty well and exercising. Can't say that I've been 100% on plan, but maybe 90% for the week. I can live with that. Let's just hope that the scales show that tomorrow morning. I need a loss!!!! :carrot:

LTsgirl--I almost took my 4-year-old DD to see it yesterday, but we got busy with other things. I'll definitely be taking her to see it soon. Do you think it's appropriate for a 4-year-old? Tangled was great, but as long as the kids like it, I'm ok sitting through anything. LOL. You did make a better choice with chipotle. The 3lbs is sodium (all that food is high in it) and I bet it's gone by tuesday morning at the latest. I enjoy eating out, but really struggle with it now. Restaurant food (even "healthy" restaurant food) is so full of sodium. I just have so much control over it at home and I do much better on weeks when we don't eat out. I'm not obsessive at all, and it's probably why my weight isn't really coming off. I know I'm too lax about it all, but I generally tend to have an all or nothing mentality, and I'm just trying to keep it light and take it slowly so I don't get caught up in the obsession of it. But, you're doing great, so it's working for you. I bet once you reach goal, you'll see your obsessive ways ease up a bit. If you don't watch it, your husband will think you're seeing a guy named Jim. LOL.

Jumping in here after a long break doing maintenance and needing some immersive support. Waves to everyone! Congratulations on your progress!

Went to the gym last night and ended up on the crappy old treadmill that squeaks and shakes a little when you run on it. I know it does it for everyone, but aside from the obnoxious nails on chalkboard sound it makes me feel like I'm Godzilla tromping through Tokyo. Needless to say, I did not get as long of a run in as I wanted.

Just to let you know, my 4 yr old sat through the whole movie without popcorn or a drink to keep her occupied. So she must have like it! It wasn't bad, just had some cheesey movie references that only the adults would get. I guess they want to appeal to the parents as well as the kids. lol.

Not much going on today. The kids don't know that dad is coming for a visit this weekend. Going to get them to help clean up the house then only have to maintain before he gets here. I hate to clean when he is only here for 3 days. Today is my day "off" from working out but may just walk on the treadmill later. Feels wrong to do nothing. (never would have said that 6 months ago).

Hello chicks!

Gotta say, sticking to diet is a lot harder for me than the exercise. I did about 1 hour of a workout class at the gym, called 30-60-90 an interval workout. It burns TONS of calories! My watch said about 500 calories in 50 min.

Then I did 1 hour and 45 of treadmill walking, stair climbing and elliptical. That was about 700 calories. So 1300 calories burned today!!

BUT my diet was just ok. Breakfast had half an apple. Lunch had salad, 2 twix bars, and then for dinner had salad, fruit, and a small slice of cheeseLESS pizza. I took the cheese OFF!!

And then I felt SAD for some reason. I'm a single girl and going home from the dinner event I went to tonight made me think about my being a single girl, and I guess I wanted to eat again. So I stopped off at the grocery store and ate a HUGE slice of cake. It was good, but didn't make me feel much better.

Despite the twix bar and cake, I discovered some methods to help me overcome binge eating. I just have to wait for 20 minutes before it eat more. This really works!!! It stopped me from going on full out binges!!!

Many of you have children and busy lives, which is a good thing because it helps you get your mind off of food. For me, I don't have children or husband or busy job, so I am constantly attcked by thoughts of food. I can easily go to the gym at my leisure, and I work so hard. But when I have to eat, I go crazy!

Well I did go up on the scale, so now I'm about 153ish and now too happy.

I do also obsessively weigh myself: when I wake up, after workouts, in the middle of the day too for no reason. Well being compulsive is better than going out of control for me. If I could calculate calories, I would too. I think it's the only method to keep me in control.

Well I hope all of you are doing better than me. Keep up with your progress. Do not give up. Stay committed. :)

I know this sounds crazy (bc it is a loss) but I wanted more. I saw a glimpse of 173 earlier this week so I was hoping to be back there. I know I should be happy with a loss, but it is just how I feel. That's okay because I am going to kill it this week! I can feel it.

Beila - Did you not see my post earlier about being obsessive? lol. I may have 4 kids but only one of them is still at home. I am not currently working so I am at home all day around food. I sometimes wish I had a job so I would not have an all access pass to my refrigerator. lol. We need to come up with a better plan then eating when the SAD feelings hit. My husband is military and has been gone since last June. Don't get me wrong, he gets to come home and visit about once a month, but when he leaves it is so depressing. We should come up with something other then eating.

Spinach - I love the thought of being like Godzilla tromping through Tokyo. lol. I will think of this next time I am on the treadmill. :D

Wow Beila! You are a workout maniac! You definitely need to eat more food. Your body needs it, especially working out like that! I know meal times are hard for you, especially not having someone in your life, but you have you! Nourish your body like you would a loved one. Maybe try to plan your meals ahead of time. Your workouts are awesome! Food will get easier!

LTs girl, you are doing great! As long as the scale is moving downward that is all that matters! :)

Today, I did Shred! Day 4! Tonight is cardio, 30 mins treadmill, 30 mins elliptical. I weighed in yesterday. I was down .8 lbs from Saturdays weigh in. .8 in 1 day, cool! Hopefully I see the 220's this Saturday! :)

Happy Single Awareness day!!! Hehehe

I am done feeling sad and sorry for myself being a single girl, for the 4th year in a row now. This week will be a week of CHANGE for us chicks on this thread!!

We will conquer the weight and issues in our lives face on and look back at this time and feel so proud of ourselves!! YEAH!!!

I am SOO sore though from the 30-60-90 workout class yesterday, I fear I may not workout as hard today, but I will give it my best and try try try.

LTs girl-- I know this week you will get to 173 and maybe lower! Don't give up!

Jackie-- This week will be the 220's for you!! You'll get there! It's so close!

As for me, I want to get to 150 by the end of this week. I know I can do it, just have to stop binging, and keep up my exercise intensity as I have been these past few days. I am burning so many calories and I know the pounds are ready to fall off.

The diet is so important. I can easily snack or binge and eat 400-500 calories in no time, and let my exercise be a waste of time.

As for my plan to prevent binging or eating something bad, I think I will wait 20 min to 1 hour (or however long it takes) of just sitting in quiet, and focusing on how I feel, focusing on my true hunger level, and focusing on how AWFUL it feels after binging. Hope this works out this week.

Hi there,

Hope everyone is enjoying their valentine's day. We had a normal day here, but I did make DH a special dinner and got chocolates for both him and DD. I got in my workout today and ate pretty much on plan (well, maybe dinner was a bit much, but it is valentine's day and I didn't do bread or dessert). Good news is that I'm down 2 lbs today. And, I think I'm going to start weighing in daily instead of weekly. Just for a month or two to get to understand my body's fluctuations a bit more. The weekly weighing in doesn't give as much information, and I'm curious to see how much I actually gain after a bad meal, how long it takes to come off, what kind of water weight I gain during TTOM, etc. I'll still keep Mondays as my official weigh in day for reporting purposes, but I'm really curious about daily weighing in. I also think it MAY help me get over my issues with the scale. I'm hoping that daily weighing in will de-sensitize me a bit so that I don't freak out over every little gain that I will inevitably have.

Hi Beila--Nothing wrong with Valentine's day for a single girl. My girlfriends and I used to go out together or bring in food so we wouldn't be alone. It's also easier when it falls on a weekday, just seems like less pressure. I struggle a lot with bingeing when I'm stressed, so I can relate. I binged a lot after I had my daughter, which led me to be among the minority of people who actually gains weight after childbirth. :( I don't seem to be doing it as much anymore, but I know I need to watch it whenever I go through a rough time at home. Wow, your workouts are crazy. Makes me feel like a wimp for just doing 35-40 mins/day. LOL.

Jacki--Can't wait to see you hit the 220's. Keep it up with the amazing workouts!!!

LTs girl--Wonderful job on the loss. It's hard when you are disappointed with the number (I was also hoping/expecting more than 2 lbs). I guess we need to focus on the fact that we're moving in the right direction and adopting healthier lifestyles in the process. I think we'll check out gnomeo and juliet this weekend if we can. My friend also told me that her 4-year-old sat through it well, so I think DD will like it.

Talk about valentines.... my hubby got me a new fabulous deep frying pan to help me with my veggie stir fry! He is trying to be really supportive. It's awesome. :carrot:

As for gnomeo and juliet, I am actually throwing my daughter's 5th birthday party at the movie theatre, so her and 6 of her friends can see the movie! Great to know that it will keep them occupied. One other mom is coming to help with bathroom runs. :D

LT - Some days I feel obsessed about weight loss and working out because I have a co-worker who is CONSTANTLY comparing workouts, checking out what I bring for lunch, etc. It almost gets to the point where I dread going into work. She is the first one to criticize anyone else who is trying to better themselves because she knows EVERYTHING about eating and working out. It gets to be a little overwhelming. Some days I just want to go into work and just forget about food. So whether you are at home with kids, sometimes when you are at work, there are still "kids" who make food the focus. Then with everything, the pressure makes you want to eat.

Hi chicks!

I'm gonna beat myself up for what I did today...I know I said I would wait 20 minutes or so before binging, I didn't!!! Arrggggg! :(

Day started off well foodwise, I hit the gym even though I was entirely sore all over, I managed to do 1 hour and 45 min of cardio burning 700 calories. THEN...dinner time, it went downhill.

My weakness is the dessert bar at whole foods. I went to whole foods and got my usual rice and curry tofu bowl, small bread roll, all very sensible calorie wise, then felt the urge to go back and get dessert. I was tempted partly because of all the valentines day stuff in the store and the store was packed with last minute shoppers. I felt so depressed :(

Anyways, my dessert bowl was bad but not as bad as a full blown binge like I've done in the past.

I'm just going to get back on track tomorrow. LET'S SET A GOAL!!

I think st patricks day is a PERFECT PLAN! If we all succeed, we can reward ourselves with 1 beer! Lol

Ann-- LET'S DO IT!!!!!

So for my goal, no more binging or bad foods until then!

WE CAN DO IT!! What other ideas do you girls have for preventing binges? Like my plan is to just wait it out and focus on the feelings and true hunger.

Hi there,

Good news is that I'm down 2 lbs today. And, I think I'm going to start weighing in daily instead of weekly. Just for a month or two to get to understand my body's fluctuations a bit more. The weekly weighing in doesn't give as much information, and I'm curious to see how much I actually gain after a bad meal, how long it takes to come off, what kind of water weight I gain during TTOM, etc. I'll still keep Mondays as my official weigh in day for reporting purposes, but I'm really curious about daily weighing in. I also think it MAY help me get over my issues with the scale. I'm hoping that daily weighing in will de-sensitize me a bit so that I don't freak out over every little gain that I will inevitably have.

Congrats ANN!!!! 2 pounds is awesome! I also weigh everyday, but I am obsessed and weigh maybe 3 times a day. Don't be like me. I have done this everyday for the past several years. I think ONCE everyday is okay though. Just make sure its the same time and with/without clothes so you won't think the scale is crazy. The scale drives me nuts sometimes.

Btw, do you have ideas for snacks that are low calories to help me with my binge problem? I eat carrots but they get boring fast. Also I try to eat a small apple in the mornings cause they have fiber and keeps me feeling full in the early afternoon.

Beila, thanks I hope so! :) Don't beat yourself up over it! Just learn from the mistake. Take one day at a time. You can do it! For snacks I eat, carrot/celery sticks or cucumber slices with ranch dressing (light dressing), an apple, orange or banana, a small salad or half of sandwich (whole wheat bread).

Valentines Day was great! We had an early dinner (5pm). My husband made spaghetti with grilled chicken (whole wheat pasta, low sodium homemade sauce, grilled chicken that he topped lightly with sauce and parmesan cheese and finished off on the oven). He bought me a dvd player, cause mine hated ME! Haha ordered me Jillians Ripped in 30, P90x and P90. I told him, I probably need to do P90 before P90x, I don't think my body is ready for that one right now. Haha I did not go off plan. We went to the gym at 6pm. 1 hour of cardio! Then we went home to watch the Bachelor! :) For the past couple of days I have been bloated, and know I am drinking a lot of water, but not going pee a lot, not like I was last week. So I wondered, do you retain water/bloat during your ovulation, sure enough you do! I didn't know! So hopefully I have a great week! :)

Forgot to add:

Today and tomorrow are my off days from the gym (I work out Thursday - Monday). I didn't get up early enough for Shred today. It is very weird not working out! I am sure I can use an off day! LOL Breakfast today was my shake, lunch will be a BELT sandwich (turkey bacon, egg beaters, romaine lettuce, tomato, whole wheat bread and small swipe of mayo). Dinner will be subs. Whole wheat roll, sliced turkey, packed with baby spinach, tomatoes, red onion, green pepper, cucumbers and a little mustard.

When I get Power90. My husband and I will be doing it in the morning before work (6 days a week). We are going to continue our 5 nights a week @ the gym. Just have to keep our strength and cardio days the same! He asked what am I doing with all of my videos (jillian, Bob, slim in 6 etc). I told him, on my days off from work, I plan on doing Shred too (then moving to another dvd after I am done)! Which would be 2 - 4 days a week. He thinks I am turning into a workout FREAK! LOL Not even close!

Good morning all! St. Patty's Day is March 17th this year. That is 31 days away, I know because that is the day my husband starts driving home from MS to stay for good. lol. My goal will be to hit the 160's. Not just the 160's, but the low end of the 160's.

Beila - Not sure what you consider low cal for snacks but these are a healthy snack with lots of nutritional value.


Chickpeas (canned)
Olive oil
Cayenne Pepper


First drain the chickpeas. Toss them with a little olive oil, salt and cayenne. Then arrange the chickpeas on a shallow-sided cookie sheet in a single layer and roast at 400°F for about 1 hour. Shake the pan a few times during cooking.
1/2 c. 170 calories (that does not inculde the olive oil, I use cooking spray)

Let the slim in- That is too bad about the know-it-all at work. Very frustrating I'm sure.

DH comes in 3 days. Wondering if he will see the difference. I don't see it in the mirror day-to-day but my clothes are fitting looser and I have lost 1.5 inches from my hips. Can't wait.

Hi chicks!!

Feeling tons better today now that valentines is over. But I weighed myself and gained 2 pounds. How disappointing :(

I guess it was the binge on desserts or water retention like Jackie mentioned.

Regardless, I'm still going for my weekly goal of 150 by saturday. I have a spa date with my girlfriends on friday so I will be looking forward to it.

Jackie, what is p90? I tried p90x for one day and quit after feeling too sore and tired. I hope ur new plan works well for you! It sounds like a lot! I know you'll lose weight fast that way!

LT, thanks for the chick pea recipe! I will try that! I also love kale chips, baked in a similar fashion.
For now, I'll just keep with the celery sticks and carrots and grapes.

For st. Patty's, I will aim to be binge free (no bad food), and lose 10 pounds. So 145, hopefully low 140's!

Thanks Beila! Power 90 (P90) is by Beachbody too! It is a 90 day boot-camp. It came out before Power 90x (P90x). Tony Horton is the trainer in both. I am not ready to do P90x right now, the reason I am doing P90 first. Beachbody has a bunch of great workout dvd's. I found/bought Hip Hop Abs at a garage sale for $2! All 3 discs and brochures (reg $60). I haven't tried it yet, but plan to one day! :) good luck on your St Patty's Day goal!

Hi girls,

Sorry I didn't get to check in yesterday. All's well on the diet and exercise front. I ate off plan last night (DH and I went to dinner and a show), but I planned to go off and enjoyed every minute. Back to the grind today, but my knee is killing me so I'm taking a day off of exercising.

Yes, March 17 is St. Patrick's Day. So, I'll post our goals here and maybe when we report our weekly weighing results, we can also report progress towards our St. Patty's goals.

Thanks for posting Ann. What a great night with the hubby. One day off plan won't hurt us. It is good to shock our bodies sometimes instead of the same calorie intake every day. Sorry to hear about your knee. I have knee problems too. I have found that it does get better/stronger as the weight comes off. So keep at it.

Jacki I would love to here how hip hop abs are. I always want to order when the commercial comes on, but I just can't justify the money. But if I found a deal like yours I couldn't pass it up. :D

Ann, hope your knee feels better soon! I know how that feels! I do not have an ACL in my left knee. I injured it years ago, my ACL ruptured and disintegrated. After dr appointments and xrays, they said it was sprained, but I knew something was wrong, which led me to re-injure it. Then I went to see a specialist, they did an mri, only saw a tore meniscus, did a scope procedure, and found out I didn't have an acl. Pretty shocking! Especially when they thought I was imagining everything from the start. LOL Thanks for putting our goals together, it looks GREAT! :)

Today I am feeling great! Didn't do Shred this morning, and it is my 2nd day off from the gym. I kind of like having a relax day/s! :) This morning I had my breakfast shake/smoothie. Lunch will be turkey chili. Dinner will be Chicken fajita tacos. It will be weird not working out tonight, but that is alright, Survivor starts tonight! I love Russell! LOL Anyone else watch it?

I really hope to see the 220's this Saturday! I have been very clean with my eating, drinking 100 + oz of water a day, and exercising like never before. I deserve it! haha It would be great to pull 6 lbs like 2 weeks ago, well actually it was 5.8, but close enough! LOL

Ann-- thanks for posting our st. patty's goal. Accountability is so key for me because I seem to give easily. There's something really motivating when someone else acknowledges your intentions and goals, and it keeps me inspired to try hard and not give up.

Last night was so so... Burned around 600 calories on elliptical. No binges! I lost 1.5 pounds, so now 153.5lbs. This SATURDAY=150 !!! Hahaha

Had a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries this a.m.

So last night I did a lot of reading about how to effectively burn calories from fat (vs glycogen stores, the energy that is readily available). After reading through threads on calorie.com and other fitness articles, I believe long and steady and exercising at 60-75% max target heart rate (for me this is 114-144 heart rate) is the way I should go. Anything higher will be too intense. They were saying that 30 min high intensity workouts will burn calories from glycogen stores first before it burns the fat. So perhaps this was my problem for the past few days. I was only burning the calories I just ate that day, and I'd get too tired and eat more.

Anyways, my plan is to do more fast walking and no more high intensity exercise like the stairclimber and running on treadmill. I will just lower my intensity on those machines.

I really want to check out a good at home cardio dvd, so if anyone has suggestions, LET ME KNOW! :)

Hi LTsgirl, I will let you know. Yes, I was shocked when I found it. Actually I bought it last Summer, I wasn't even close to thinking about losing weight, but I said, one day I will want it. LOL I wanted to lose a little more weight before I tried doing it, because of my knee. I try not to do cardio activitity that has lots of movement, where my legs shift sideways. Going back and forth is fine, just not left to right. Not now at least. Congrats on your loss! I know you are loving that! Yes, we are enjoying the weather here too! 50 degrees today, 58 tomorrow and 45 on Friday. My grill will be used! Joel will just have to shovel the snow out of the way! LOL Getting together does sound great, too bad we didn't live closer! :)

If you work out on a high intensity, your energy comes from the carbs, low intensity, your energy comes from the fat. Your body will use protein as the last resort. Overall, when doing low intensity workouts you will burn less calories, then doing high intensity. I think it is different for each person personally, we all need to see what works best for us and our body. Then again, changing it up, one day low intensity and another high, would be a good body shocker. LOL When doing the same workout time and time, your body adjusts to it. Just like with calories. You need to change it around. :)

Jacki-- So I read some more online, yeah, it seems the overall net affect of higher intensity exercise will burn the most calories, and of course that makes sense, but it seemed for me it wasn't working too well. I think that type of exercise just tires me out too quickly leaving me super hungry or and wanting to eat bad food. But everything you said is correct. :)

I'm just going to stay between 115-145 hear rate which is 60-70% of fat calories, so more like moderate intensity workouts, hopefully that works. We'll see!

Knowledge really is power!! When things aren't working for me, it's better to analyze it and change things to see what works best.

Hope we're all staying alive! We're half way done with the week! Woo hooooo!

Beila, you are a smart chick! Normally people get frustrated and give up. There is a lot of helpful information at our fingertips! I am sure that will do the trick! :)

As long as you are eating right, and exercising, the scale will go down eventually. This is a huge learning process for everyone. If it was easy, no one would be overweight. Like Beila said, if one thing isn't working, figure out something else, don't give up. Everyones body will react to things differently. You need to find what works best for you.

Today I am doing Shred, on day 5! I can't wait! I was off the past 2 days, and I am ready to get back to the gym tonight. Cardio day! :)

Okay ladies, this is going to sound terrible. The fitness challenge.... So the members of the gym are tired of doing their job (lol) and put the weigh in sheet at the desk next to the scale. So now we have to weigh ourselves and record it. So out of curiosity I peeked at what my friend's starting weight was (the one that was being all competitive about it) and looked at her current weight. Did the same for myself. Then came home and did some calculations.....as long as I got the correct starting weights.......I am still BEATING her. ha hahahahahaha. Let her talk some more smack!! :devil: Sorry, but she was just so smug about the whole thing. So now I am even more motivated to keep going. 173 for the second day so officially changing my ticker. woooohoooo!

Jacki - is shred by Jillian Michaels. If you like it that much, I may have to look into it. Is it circuit training, Weights, aerobics?

I'm thinking Chicken fajitas for dinner. Have an excellent marinade recipe. Tastes just like the ones from Chili's.

I think everyone knows my weekend plans. lol. DH comes home tomorrow so doing some last minute straightening up. Don't want to clean while he is visiting.

I joined this site on Tuesday night after I had stepped onto the scale and a glaring 250.8 was staring back at me!! Here it Thursday and I stepped on the scale before lunch and the scale was down to 245.1!!! What a hi-lite to my day. It's amazing how 2 good day of eating can cause such a fluctuation!! It's great to here everyone's progress and know that I'm not the only person in the world that has scale issues!

Good to see a lot of activity on this thread. It's exciting to see how motivated everyone is!!!!! I've been doing pretty well today with eating and exercise. I'm hoping the scale budges soon! I hate that now that I'm a bit older it takes forever to drop just a few lbs. I remember being younger and I could very easily lose 15 lbs in a month with minimal effort. <<<sigh>>>

Hi Beila--Congrats on the loss! I do watch TBL for entertainment and motivation even though I don't think the weight loss on that show is necessarily healthy or possible for us regular folks at home. But, I enjoy it for the most part.

Ann I don't think she was lying, she really thought she was still beating me. I think I am just losing more/faster then she is. It is also based on % lost. If it was just weight, she would have me beat. But then again I know she cheated in the beginning so I really still think that I am still beating her in actual weight loss. I feel bad talking about "beating" her. I am not usually like that.......until I thnk about how she was practically rubbing it in my face. It just pushed a wrong button inside me. lol. Will keep you posted on how the "competition" is going.

Let me just say, that is not my ultimate goal for doing this. I have been talking about losing the weight for the past 2 yrs. I was down at 165 once last year and then we moved and was traveling for 4 weeks. Gained 20lbs. uhg! But this time it is for good.

Beila you are so going to reach 150 by Saturday! And I love Biggest Loser! There is a thread here that is just dedicated to the show. I call my sister to talk about it the next day. Arthur is so lucky he stepped up this week.

Here is the fajita recipe. I love it. I usually add more chicken. 2 chicken breasts is not enough for a family of 6. lol. It still marinades just fine with more chicken so I don't double the recipe or anything like that. Enjoy!

Server two as an entree
• Marinade
• 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (0)
• 1/3 cup water
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 large clove garlic, pressed (1)
• 3 teaspoons vinegar
• 2 teaspoons soy sauce (.75)
• 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (1)
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (.5)
• 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
• Dash onion powder
• ________________________________________
• 2 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves or 1 pound top sirloin or a combination of 1 chicken breast half and 1/2 pound sirloin
• 1 Spanish onion, sliced
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1 teaspoon soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons water
• 1/2 teaspoon lime juice
• Dash ground black pepper
• Dash salt

• On the Side
• 1/2 cup pico de gallo
• 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese
• 1/2 cup guacamole
• 1/2 cup sour cream
• 1 cup shredded lettuce

1. Combine all of the ingredients for the marinade in a small bowl. Soak your choice of meat in the marinade for at least 2 hours. If you are just using the sirloin, let it marinate overnight, if possible.
2. When the meat has marinated, preheat your barbecue or stove top grill to high.
3. Preheat a skillet over medium high heat. Saute the onion slices in the oil for 5 minutes. Combine the soy sauce, water, and lime juice in a small bowl and pour it over the onions. Add the black pepper and continue to saute until the onions are translucent and dark on the edges (4 to 5 more minutes). Salt to taste.

LT, call it a blessing!

Competition is sometimes a good thing! Like I wish I had a boyfriend, friend or family member to lose weight with. It would be so much easier for me to lose weight that way. I am a competitive person by nature! I even considered joining a meetup group and pay $40 to do a weight loss challenge, winner takes the money. But in the end, I just felt that if I can do this on my own, without any outside factors involved like cash winnings, I know this would be it for good, no more yo-yo dieting, just losing the weight for me! For good!

But yeah, competition is good too! Think of how much she's tryna catch up to you as you do your exercise. Kinda like a way to push yourself to the next level, like up the minutes or intensity.

Anyyways, I hope the scale gods forgive me. I did less than stellar exercise today, only 650 cals on the elliptical, and I ate this huge extra large wheat pita bread with my salad for dinner. I know its not so bad, but I didn't really need it.

Ann-- hang in there! I know the feeling too when I look at younger girls at the gym. It is much harder. But there's hope for us. Just keep trying! We'll get there and be the best shape of our lives! The 30's is all about finding our TRUE self, and becoming our best self ever!

LTsgirl, I know you were shocked and HAPPY to see that! LOL To be honest, I wouldn't say anything about it, she thinks she is beating you so she will not up her game, if she knew the truth, then she would. haha At the end, she will find out! ;) Yes, it is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. It is three 6 minute circuits using a 3-2-1 interval system that combines strength, cardio and abs (3 mins of strength, 2 mins cardio, 1 minute abs). Doesn't sound like a lot, but she definitely knows how to get your body going! An awesome workout! You do use hand weights, looks like they are using 2 - 3 lbs, I use 8 lbs. If you have hardwood/tile floors, you will need a mat, but if you have carpet, you dont. One thing that stinks is, I bought one copy, and for some reason my dvd player wouldn't play it, so I bought another copy thinking it was the dvd, turns out it was my dvd player, didn't know til after I threw out the first copy!! Bam that is awesome! :) Spaghetti squash is a type of squash, I cut it length wise, rub a little olive oil on the inside, with pepper, place on a cookie sheet face down (the inside with oil), and cook in the oven. When done, You use a fork to scrape the squash out, it looks like spaghetti.

Ann, I know how you feel. When I was younger, it would come off so easily! The good thing is we are doing it now. When we hit our 40s it will be harder! :) Nothing planned, just getting stuff done around the house (cleaning etc), and working out! Maybe cook for my husband this week! Let the chef rest! LOL He is off on Tues, we are going to Chipotle for lunch (3 hard shell tacos with chicken, black beans, and lettuce) and the movies, not sure what we will see yet. It will be nice, just to be able to stay home and relax. Maybe catch up on some Greys Anatomy! I just started watching it, I am on Season 3. :)

Guess what came in yesterday? Power 90, my husband express shipped it, but I didn't expect to get it in 2 days! Awesome! So you know what we are doing today! LOL No Shred today, just P90! If anyone is interested, we bought it on Ebay for $30 with shipping (there are 2 different ones, the only difference is the box cover, the one I got is the older box cover, people don't know that! I bought it off their site a few years ago, borrowed it to my daughter she lost disc 1, I still have disc 2, since I couldn't find it, my husband bought me another one, so now I have an extra copy of disc 2 which is strength and cardio 3 and 4, disc 1 is strength and cardio 1 and 2) I hate paying full price for stuff! :)

Finished Day 1 of Power 90! All I can say is omg! LOL The Ab Ripper portion is KILLER! There was one exercise that I did, but injured my knee, it was the run lunges, luckily for me, I was light and quick on my feet, full body weight did not lock down on my knee. It hurt bad, but a little ice (2 mins) and got back up, instead of doing run lunges I did running in place! It was the only exercise I couldn't do. For those that don't know, I injured my knee years ago, my ACL ruptured and disintegrated. So I have to be careful with moves etc. Then again, I always have to be careful, even with walking when there is ice/water. haha Oh well what can ya do, it will not stop me! :) Other than that, I am feeling great! My husband is so tired! haha

LTsgirl, I hope you have a great time with your hubby! Yes, definitely don't waste time cleaning etc, just enjoy eachother! All of those other things can wait! :)

How is everyone doing? I hope you have a great weekend! My only weekend plans are game night with the kids, food prep/planning shopping for the week, doing Power 90 and going to the gym! Exciting huh? LOL

Beila I really just signed up for the fitness challenge to keep myself motivated. I really didn't care if I won or not, but having to weigh in weekly keeps me more on track. It is something that I just learned about myself last November. I like to have a goal in mind and I will stick with it. If not, getting up to go run isn't as fun. (Okay, it still isn't "fun" but I will do it.) So I have been checking the local community for events that I can sign up for. Right now it is the Warrior Dash in two weeks and the fitness challenge.

DH will be landing in about 3 hrs. So last minute cleaning up and shower. Really just to keep me from going crazy waiting. lol. Don't worry if you don't hear from me this weekend. ;) I will check in on Monday for weigh in day. Chat with you later.

I went to the gym last night, and did 30 mins on the treadmill. Looks like I should have just rested, after my P90 injury/incident. At the gym, it didn't feel too good, swollen a little, and sore, so I decided not to do the elliptical. Within 1 hr, it was worse, so I iced it (still am) and prompted it up on a pillow. I will have to baby it for a week. Hopefully not longer than that! I am still working out, today is P90 sculpt (strength), the only issues I should have are with lunges (run lunges is what I hurt my knee with on P90 yesterday). Then tonight it is strength at the gym, I will just stay away from the leg machines. So now I am looking into doing the ACL reconstruction surgery, not until Jan 2012, I need time to get my body in shape, so I can handle it better! When I did physical therapy for my knee 5 years ago, my therapist told me recovery would take 6 - 8 months (for the ACL surgery). That is a LONG time! Reason, I need to get in-shape beforehand. Last night I told my husband, "I need to get the ACL surgery, so I can workout like the animal I see in my head." I always have to be careful, and I hate that! LOL

Other than that, everything is good! I will be weighing in at 8am! Can't wait to see! :)

Weight is stuck for another day!!!! Don't understand how I can eat so well and exercise and not drop any weight. I mean, it's not like I'm close to goal, I still have a lot to lose.

Anyway, I know it's completely psychological, but now I'm planning a big cheat meal. I feel like i don't lose either way, so I might as well enjoy my night out with hubby and friends. UGH. And, I'm taking off from the gym. Take that, stubborn body!

And don't worry, I'll get right back on track tomorrow. Just having a temper tantrum.

Day 2 of Power 90 finished! :) The only thing I couldn't do were lunges so I did squats. Weighed in this morning I am 228! I lost 3.4 lbs! :)

Ann, I know how frustrating that can be! Just stay on plan, it will come off sooner or later. I know it is hard to stay focused! My knee is messed up, and I won't let it bring me down or have negative thoughts. Things happen, we have to fight through them! Stay strong girl! Give me a couple days of your exercise routines and meals. Maybe we can evaluate it. Doesn't hurt to try! :) Enjoy your day!

The past couple of days has been discouraging, the scale doesn't want to budge! I'm about 152, but still hopeful to BREAK THE 150's next week! WOOO HOOO!!

Ann, we're gonna make the scale budge! I like to change things up, like exercise on an empty stomach, or exercise less intense but cut out a meal. Somthing like that, so I don't get ravenous after exercising super hard. WE'LL MOVE DOWN AGAIN!

Jacki, so sorry to hear about your injury. But I know you'll pull through this. You seem so motivated and determined! I'm cheering for you here! Keep going! Work your other muscles! I've seen the people on Biggest Loser get injured and I know it's a drawback, but it IS POSSIBLE to keep losing with an injury! :) Oh and CONGRATS on 228!!! HIT THE ROAD 230's!! :)

Gonna head to the spa now for some R and R and a pedi! A little reward for the 3 pounds lost since starting this journey w/ you girls!! We gotta remember to give ourselves a nice reward every now and then :)

Btw, have you seen HEAVY on A & E? It's a another weight loss show. It's quite motivating. The people are really big, like one guy was 500 pounds. Also, "Shredding for the Wedding" is on the CW next wednesday. More motivation!!!

Good morning girls! :)

Last night was strength day at the gym, I worked everything but my legs. I also did a 5 min elliptical warm-up beforehand, didn't want to push it. Especially with P90 Sweat (cardio) day today. I am pretty confident I will do fine, just going to stay away from the run lunges (for now).

Thanks so much, Beila! I can't believe how focused I am. In the past I would have used this for an excuse to stop exercising, and would have went off track, because it would depress me. Not any more! ;) I am taking control! My motto is: Eat to live, not live to eat. I am making t-shirts! :) Just know, when you are closer to goal, it takes longer to lose. I know it's frustrating, just keep on track. The scale will go down eventually. Awesome reward! I agree, you have to do nice things for yourself, makes you feel great! For my 25 lb loss, I bought new under clothes, workout clothes, another Jillian dvd, and a mexican cookbook! I LOVE mexican food! When I lose another 25 lbs, I am going to my fitness center's spa, and getting a manicure, pedicure and a massage! When I hit the 2teens, I am going to get my hair done (cut, highlights and styled). Mostly I am looking forward to feeling and looking great, all the rest are bonuses! No, I never seen those shows, I will have to look them up! Thanks! I love watching weight-loss shows! :)

I have about 2 hrs til P90 (that's when I am waking up hubby), I will let you know how it goes! :)

Just finished Day 3 of P90! I wasn't sure how it would be. Happy to report, I was able to do everything except run lunges, I ran in place instead. One day, I will try run lunges again! LOL So far my knee isn't any worse, still swollen a little. Last time it took an hour to notice a change. I am going to the gym tonight, it is cardio day. Definitely doing my regular routine! Let ya know how that goes. LOL

Now I am enjoying my protein smoothie ( strawberries and bananas). Best breakfast ever! To me at least. ;) Today, I am meal planning, prepping, and grocery shopping for the week. Not sure what I am having for lunch, but dinner will be turkey chili with butternut squash.

I'm doing, meh... Gonna break 150's this week. That's my goal. Giving it all I got. Today I plan to do loads of cardio. It stopped raining, so a day at the park and some gym exercises would be fantastic!

Congrats on day 3 of P90! GO JACKI!! I couldn't even do day 2 of P90X. So hard. You're doing awesome!!!!

Good morning chicks! :)

Day 4 of P90 Sculpt (strength) completed (6am)! Just dropped my husband off at the Metra (to go to work) and looking to start Jillians Shred, following that I will be doing P90's Ab Ripper (10 reps of 10 different ab exercises, it is added on our Sweat Day (cardio) workout, not Sculpt). I did every exercise today even the walk lunges. My knee is still swolen, and sore, but it isn't getting worse, so I am not going to lighten my load! Haha I am also going to the gym tonight (strength). I will try to do some leg lifts, extensions, etc, but with a lower weight and smaller reps. Everything else will be my normal workout.

I bought a magazine yesterday named First, Dr Oz is on the cover. I LOVE Dr Oz! :) He had a great article, on why women have belly fat. We are stressed too much and release a hormone, which gives us cravings etc. The way to cheat that is by consuming Omega 3s, which you can get by eating fish (salmon, trout, sardines, tuna etc), flaxseed (you can get it ground), fish oil (capsules), and walnuts. You also need Vitamin C, he suggests 1,200 mg per day, buying a bottle of vitamin C 500mg once a day, plus getting more from foods (pineapple, cauliflower, grapefruit, tomato, sweet potato, spinach etc. He said women stress to much over the scale budging, on losing weight etc and that isn't good for you. It causes belly fat. Very interesting article! :)

I am done with my morning workout! I did P90, Shred and P90 Ab Ripper! I feel great! LOL Tonight is strength day at the gym. I will be doing a 15 min warm-up on the elliptical before the weight machines. I can't believe I am doing it with my gimp knee! ;)

Breakfast was a protein smoothie. Today I used 1/2 cup of coconut milk, 1/2 cup apple juice, 1/8 cup walnut halves, 2 cups spinach, 1 scoop whey protein (Muscle brand) 1/2 banana, 1 tablespoon psyllium husk (fiber), 1 tablespoon flaxseed, 1/2 teaspoon fish oil, 1/2 kiwi and 7 whole frozen strawberries.

Does anyone eat protein bars? I just bought some from Costco named Detour, they have a peanut carmel one, it is delish! It is a variet box, chocolate chip carmel, peanut carmel and peanutbutter creme. I only had the peanut carmel, reminded me of a snickers! Haha 50% less sugar, 180 calories, 15 grams of protein. Great for before or after your workout! :)

Lunch will be fajita tacos (grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, guacamole on a corn tortilla (cooked in Pam in a pan). Dinner will be grilled chicken, roasted brussel sprouts, and creamy garlc mashed cauliflower.

Hello ladies. The weekend went by way too fast! He definitely noticed the difference. :D

Dropped DH off at the airport today and wasn't upset, cause I know I go to see him in 10 days. Then had a freak out moment because I realized I have to do the warrior dash in 12 days. lol. I better hit the treadmill hard this week. Glad to hear everyone is doing okay.

Ann - hope you enjoyed your cheat meal with your hubby. Gotta live it up every once in a while. :)

Beila - you will break the 150's this week. I know it.

Jacki - Way to keep a good attitude even with an injury! Not sure I would be so strong at this point.

So, I did my all out wild cheat meal on saturday night (including 2 drinks, a huge fattening meal, and dessert) and I stayed the same still! What is going on with my body? So strange, makes no sense but I'll take it since I enjoyed my meal. Guess we'll see if I budge after this little cheat meal incident. Sometimes a day off plan can jump start the metabolism.

LT--Glad you had a nice weekend with DH. So good that he noticed. Congrats on your loss.

Jacki--Wow, you are just dropping weight like crazy. So glad that your plan is working, you are working really hard. I love Dr. Oz too. His show always has some interesting advice.

Hi Beila--Yes, you are perfect the way you are! We should all remind ourselves of that and accept where we are at the moment.

Ann, thanks for posting the goals up for St. Pattys. I really need to stay on track and keep my eyes and focus on the goal. Your reminder really helps me :)

Jacki, you really amaze me each day and its so motivating to read what you do for your exercise! Even with your injury, you are still going at it! Nothing will stop you from shedding the pounds now! I also LOVE Dr. Oz! I know the hormone cortisol causes belly fat too. I try to live stress free and be as relaxed as possible. For my binge problem, I'm going to start journaling and write down my feelings. It's getting better, the binges are not as severe, and I'm seeing improvements. I still am trying to be binge free, and it is hard for me. For now, I am also incorporating some advice from Prevention magazine, the "Flat Belly Diet" which allows you to eat MUFAs. If interested, look up MUFA and FLAT BELLY DIET. Basically just eating small portions of food with healthy fats and more frequently, and drinking more water. I started to take my vitamins today too as I feel the cravings for junk food aren't so bad when I take my vitamins.

LT, your almost in 160's!! I hope we both get down to our new digits soon. I will try try try to get into 140's. We'll get there!

You girls motivate me so much and I just want to say THANK YOU! I really feel lost hopeless sometimes, and its very motivating reading your cheers and kind words.

Dietwise, the past few days was just ok, binged a few times. This week, I really will try harder and stop the binging. Exercise has been superb and I'm really thankful to have the nice weather and gym to help me get my cardio. Each day I burn about 600-700, sometimes 800 calories doing moderate intensity cardio, jogging, walking, or elliptical machine. But this week, I'm going to see if I can workout twice, once in morning and once in late afternoon. I need to rev my metabolism.

Aslo, I will be drinking lots more water. 2 glasses before every meal. I tried that today and was surprised how full I was. I don't need as much food!

Hope you girls can try the water trick too. It really works! Drink between meals too, so like one in between meals and 2 right before your meal.

Oh someone asked about protein bars, I really like kashi go lean bars, and think thin. The think thin ones taste really good too. They have a lot of protein too.

Unfortunately, they trigger binges for me, so I have stopped eating them for now. I know they are supposed to be a snack for workouts, but since they taste so good, sometimes I would end up eating 2.

Beila- try to find bars that are high in protein and have low or no sugar. The sugar is what makes you want to binge. I like the pure protein chocolate peanut butter ones.

And talking about binges...I have been eating junk all afternoon and evening! Ugh!

Oh no, stop Ann. Do something to occupy your mind. I usually go online and read on this forum or do something else. The time goes by fast that way.

About the protein bars, I really have tried a lot of them. The think thin ones have no sugar and they're still addictive. But they do have sugar alcohol, which I'm skeptical of. I haven't heard of pure protein, but will look for it next time in the store.

I did Round 2 of exercise today! I haven't done 2 ROUNDS in a day in so long! WOOO HOOO! I think Jacki sorta motivated me into it! Thank you girl!

My 2 exercises total over 1100 calories. It would have been more but a scary homeless man kept trying to catch up to me in the park, and it started to get darker outside. So I gave it up and left right away. Next time I will have to start at 4pm if I'm going to the park.

So the kids are in bed and I have time to sit down and write. My weekend was nothing but a binge fest. I love it when my DH comes to visit, but it always ends up like this....
Friday - Sushi for lunch. Pizza for dinner.
Saturday - cereal for breakfast. salad with leftover roast for lunch. Olive Garden tortillini with braised beef with salad for dinner. (I only ate half)
Sunday - Donuts for breakfast. no lunch. Wal-mart pick 3 (wings) for dinner.
Today - IHOP for breakfast. Leftover torillini for lunch and DQ for dinner. (and if I am being honest, I had a grande caramel mocha from SB)

I feel like crap. Not because I feel guilty or anything like that. My body feels like crap. I feel exhausted and my stomach hurts. So ready to get back on track tomorrow. Didn't work out at all! I don't feel "bad" about it. So that was my rant/confession. I was surprised by the -2.4lbs on the scale this morning. Moving on....

I would be very careful with the protein bars. The one I looked at the other day had 13gms of sugar. Ha! Put it right back on the shelf and walked on.

Beila - water is what I missed all weekend. I usually drink between 8 to 10 glasses a day. Definitely helps with the appetite.

Just checking up with everyone. Was reading the other day how important protein is. It said to eat at least 30 gms within a half hour of waking up. When you eat at least 30 grams, that period of synthesis lasts about 3 hours—and that means even more muscle growth.
I have been drinking a protein shake and I seem to not be as hungry.

LTs girl, Thanks, I am shocked by it all too! My mind is in a good place, and nothing is stopping me. ;) That is great, I knew he would notice! Guys notice more than we think they do! :) Congrats on the weightloss even with going off of plan! My body wouldn't be so generous! LOL I saw a segment about that on Dr Oz, The 4 Hour Body, the author did experients on himself. Actually counting up my protein smoothie it is over 30 gms. I am fine ALL day! I have to make myself eat snacks and lunch. I just don't feel hungry but I can eat. ;) So I guess it is true! I love Black Eyed Peas! GREAT songs!

Just think of what you want more? Eating healthy and exercising gives you a longer fuller life. I just ask myself "what do I want more"? The answer is always there! I also think about the future, if I keep doing what I am doing (before), where will I be in 10, 20, 30 years? What kind of shape will I be in? Of course holding the weight now is nothing, but how will your body be able to handle it when you are older. I don't want to be overweight when I am 60+! I expect to live a long life, and I want to be able to ENJOY every moment of it! :)

Ok, the binge monster left me last night and I'm back on track. I'm going to blame it on PMS, although I have no clue if it really is related (why can't i remember if i last had my period 3 or 4 weeks ago?!?...lol). All is well on the diet/exercise front today.

Jacki--glad the knee is better! My right knee has been acting up the last few months. Comes and goes and hurts when I put weight on it or when I twist at the knee. DH says it may be arthritis?!? Wow, crazy to think of that in my late 30's. Your eating and exercise sounds great as usual. You are 100% committed and never seen to veer off track. Amazing!

Beila--So, are you binge free today? Maybe we can check in daily on that front and support each other to stay binge free.

As for music while working out, I have the Pandora app on my iphone. It's free. I put in all my favorite artists and listen to a shuffle of them. My faves for working are are Foo Fighters, Green Day, U2, Chris Daughtry, Train, Nickelback, and that type of thing. I LOVE Pandora! And even more, I love that I don't have to spend money or waste time downloading music. LOL.

Oh Ann, I'm not happy to say, I binged today. I was so emotional waking up and I was like 155, was like what?! I had to go somewhere today and traffic was ridiculous, 2 accidents on the freeway. Anyways, I ate loads, not even wanting to admit what I ate today, just junk. Anyways, I do need extra buddy support from you if you can help me, I'll help you too. We'll get through this together.

I feel so sick right now, I can't even workout. I'm just going to have to start all over again tomorrow with full force.

Thanks all for your support this far. I'm going to try harder.

Beila - could just have been water weight from the sodium that comes with binging. Flush it all out with lots of water, and as an added benefit you'll feel fuller. (like you don't already know that, but sometimes we have to be reminded. lol) Or is it possible that it is TOM? I always feel emotional, gain 2lbs, and have outrageous cravings. Isn't being a woman just great! I started tracking when TOM was so that I don't freak out when this happens. The only good thing that comes out of it is the big whoosh after.

The only thing I could say is be prepared. Maybe have some snacks in the car or in your purse that are nonperishable or have a long shelf life for when unexpected things come up. Peanuts in my glove box. :)

Maybe you could just walk tonight. You might feel better. It doesn't have to be all out. Just a thought. Hope you feel better tomorrow. Here's to not binging! :cheers:

Thanks LT, it is possible its TOM, or sodium, I did drink tons of water yesterday. Well, for now plan is to detox for a bit, I'm planning on drinking lots more water and just raw veggies in my fridge for the next couple of days. My body needs a rest with the sugar spikes.

Beila- 2 recommendations. Add lemon juice to your water. It's a diuretic, flushes you out, and is good for the kidneys. I have a 2.5 liter pitcher. Everynight before bed I fill it with fresh, filtered water. I add either an entire lemon thinly sliced or (more often) I just throw a few tbsp of organic lemon juice that I buy in a glass bottle at the market. I drink from this pitcher all day, filling my glass from there and my sigg bottle when I leave the house. I usually finish it in the afternoon and then I have a few additional glasses of water (no lemon) in the evening. I highly recommend the lemon water everyday, but especially when bloated.

Second, go buy some parsley tea at the natural food store. Just one cup a day gets rid of all my bloat, even at TTOM. It isn't great tasting, but it works!

Also realize that the more you binge, the harder it is to stop. Sugar is such an addictive substance. I know I'm addicted. Once I binge on sugary stuff, it's so hard to resist the constant cravings the next few days. It's like a junkie that just had a fix and now wants more and more. Not sure if your binges involve lots of sugar, but if they do, consider cutting out all sugar from your system except for natural sugars in fruit and plain dairy it works for me, but is hard!

Oh, and this pertains to all simple carbs including sugar and anything with white flour. Your body metabolizes it all the same way.

Thanks Ann for the tips. I have 2 lemons which I will start to put in my water. I'll look for parsley tea next time at whole foods. I have peppermint tea which I feel calms my food cravings too.

I do need to stop the sugar cravings, I feel like an addict. Like I lose control. Sugar is an addictive chemical, and I feel that staying away from refined carbs and sugar will do me some good.

I need to take one day at a time and not rush things, feel upset easily, or give up. These are things I will just have to work on mentally. All the rest, exercising, dieting, I know I can handle. I have done it before, I just have to stick with it.

Sorry for the above rants. Thanks for all the buddy support. :)

Good morning girls!

Back to work today, being off for a week was nice, went by too fast! LOL Today is my off day, no exercise! Seems weird, but I know my body needs it! Last night we had fish tacos for dinner, shockingly they were good! I havent had fish in over 10 years. Got the recipe from my new Mexican Cookbook!

Breakfast will be my usual protein smoothie, lunch will be turkey chili with butternut squash, and dinner will be grilled chicken, steamed broccoli w/ alfredo sauce. Snacks through out the day (2 veggie servings, 1 fruit serving) are carrot/celery sticks, and apple or banana.

Ann, Happy to hear you are back on track! Take one day at a time! You can and will do it!

Beila, sorry to hear that. I know that the scale can make or break your day! I hope you are feeling better today! You can do it girly!

Looks like all of you are busy this morning! LOL Decided to change dinner plans. I am making (giving the chef the night off) spaghetti sauce with chunks of onion, carrots, celery, green, red and yellow sweet peppers and zucchini, served over spaghetti squash, grilled chicken and a side of breaded zucchini (sliced zucchini dusted with a mixture of 100% whole wheat flour, oregano, and pepper, fried in a pan with Pam). Really looking forward to it! :)

I am trying to talk myself into getting on the treadmill this morning. Not going so well. I need to walk away from the tv. I know I will feel better. I know it will help me lose weight. I hate the treadmill. I can't wait till I can run outside.

So after I post I am going. Even if it is just for 30 min.

Jacki - Sorry to hear vacation is over. I feel weird on my off days too. Sometimes I will walk on the treadmill just to do something.

Hi there,

The scale showed a drop of a half a pound this morning, so here's hoping that I've turned a corner and will drop a little more before my official weigh in on Monday. It'll be a hard week though since we're going to Disney from Friday to Sunday and it's always hard for me to eat healthy there with all the bad amusement park food. There are healthier options, I just have to convince myself to choose them. :)

LT--Hope you got on that treadmill. It's so hard when you just don't feel like doing it. I always find that just getting on is the hardest part. Once you're on for even a few minutes you start to feel better.

Jacki--dinner sounds yummy! Set a plate for me. LOL. I'm making beef and barley stew with lots of veggies. Last night I made a healthy shrimp jambalaya that was yummy too. I think my plan for thursday is to make lentil and potato curry, but I may not get to it since I work late and we might wind up doing leftovers.

bananarunts--Yes, celery is much better. LOL. How are you doing today? Eating and exercise going OK, or are you still easing into it slowly?

Land or World? Where are you staying? We are huge Disney fans, go to Disney World at least twice a year. Mainly stay at Disneys Animal Kingdom Villa or Lodge. Beautiful place! I am SO jealous! LOL Wish we were going this week! haha This year we are not going til Oct and Dec. My husband and I are going in Oct for our anniversary, going on a 4 night Disney Bahama cruise and staying 3 nights at Animal Kingdom. We are going the first week of Dec for our family trip. I love seeing the Christmas decorations, and going to the Christmas party! Beautiful time! I hope you have LOTS of fun! Yes, eating on plan will be hard, hopefully you don't do too bad! ;)

Jacki--Disney world. We go often cause we have FL resident season passes. They expire in 2 weeks, so I think this will be the last trip until late this year. It's a 3 hr drive for us, so very easy to get there often. We've stayed at a lot of the Disney properties. Love the animal kingdom resort. I'm so jealous of your upcoming cruise. We are considering trying it out with DD. The ships look amazing!

Ann, 3 hours? Nice! I would love that! If we were 3 hours away, I would be going there at least once a month! haha We are 18.5 hours away! Use to fly out, but drove the past 2 years, I REALLY enjoy it! Majority of the time, we go commando, drive straight through, my husband drives most of the way. The last couple of times, stopped in Nashville, went to the Grand Ole Opry (I love that place), and stayed in a hotel over night. The only bad thing is paying for the gas in our SUV, my husband is buying me a hybrid Camry for my birthday this year, so you know what we will be driving down there in, it will be so nice to save money on gas (more money for Disney). We have resident season passes too (GREAT deal!), own a timeshare with Disneys Animal Kingdom. :) Looking to move to FL in the next few years, just need the economy to pick up, in order to sell our house. I can't wait! ;)

We took our kids and my godsons 2 years ago (at the time my son was 15, daughter 17, godson 18 and godson 4), at that time we were on the Wonder, they LOVED it! Yes, the new cruise ship looks amazing, I can't wait! You, and your family will love it! How old is your daughter? Lots of activities and great food, a nice relaxing time!

Hello Girls!

Today I'm doing much better. Been drinking lots of water.

I'm planning to hit the gym soon. I've been too much of a couch potato lately. Just one day off from the gym seem weird for me now, and I have to get back into the swing of things.

So for food today, I planned out my meals:

Breakfast: 2 egg whites, cup of grapes, and some strawberries.
Snack: 1/2 cup nonfat yogurt, 1/2 banana, 5 almonds
Lunch: Raw veggies, 3 oz. canned tuna
Dinner: Salad, 4 oz fish

I think the total number of calories for the above comes under 1200. I'm using calorie count dot com and keeping track of things in my journal, and also writing down my weightloss goals with future dates. I know this all sounds obsessive, but for the time being, I really need control over things due to the binging. Just until things seem to become habitual, binges decrease and I no longer need to write stuff down.

Did anyone watch biggest loser last night? Jen GAINED 2 pounds! Hard to believe, since they are working out with trainers daily, eating the right foods, and not really leaving any room to cheat. This made me realize how complex our bodies are. Metabolism needs to be tricked sometimes, and of all things, PATIENCE is key.

For now, my goal is to just not binge for a week. I'm going to focus on that, and not so much the scale. Today is day 1, and it's looking good so far! :carrot:

Tomorrow, I'm working out (or hiking) with my friend. She's super fit and will motivate me further.

Ann-- Sounds like you have some fun times ahead of you at Disney World! And way to go on the half pound lost! For the weekend, might I suggest to pack some healthy food options. Think about the money you'll save that way too, which could prevent you from buying the food there. Amusement parks can get expensive.

Jacki-- I love reading all the food you make, and how you're able to plan it all ahead of time, that's awesome! I'm going to also try to adopt that habit. Planning and writing it all in my journal. Even my snacks.

LT-- I am a horrible couch potato. The TV is so hard for me to get away from. I know I read a research study that said the majority of people that lost weight and kept it off averaged less than 8 hours of TV per week. I watch that much in a DAY! Anyways, it's true what they say, once you start to exercise, you feel so much better.

Think of all the times we have told ourselves that. We dread the exercise beforehand, but once we have finished it, we are so happy and feel so proud of ourselves for doing the exercise.

Of course I watched Biggest Loser. lol. Thought they were all a bunch of crybabies last night. Guess the emotional stress got to Jen.

Watching Shedding for the Wedding right now. Going to walk on the treadmill while I watch.

Beila - Not sure I could survive on that meal plan. Please don't take that the wrong way, but I know for me by 7pm I would be pulling my hair out trying not to cheat. I have to be honest with you...I don't see 1200 calories. Depending on what you put on the salad (fatty dressings, cheese, etc.) or if you are adding mayo to the tuna, I only see about 800-900 calories if you are lucky. This would lead me to binging. Just something to think about.

Well ladies, need to get on the treadmill. Chat with you all tomorrow.

I just came back from the gym and I feel great! Burned 900 calories on the elliptical, hitting level 3 for the first time, 1 hr 45 min! Eating light and going to the gym feels so good. My mind feels clear, unlike in the past when I would eat a large meal and workout, and afterwards I would feel so exhausted. It's weird, like my mind and stomach are in agreement with each other for once! I don't even feel hungry! Maybe cuz I didn't binge today, lol!

I'm eatin my din din now, salad, veggies, and 3 ounces of fish. I don't even feel hungry, but I'm chowing down anyways to keep the metabolism going.
Waiting for Shredding for the Wedding to come on. SO STOKED! I LOVE weight loss shows!

LT-- I did some reading the other day about 1000 and 1200 calorie diets, and they all said not to do it for more than 1 week, consult a doctor before trying, etc. I think I can manage this for a few days to 1 week. I'm really trying my best with the diet thing. This was recommended by doctors to jumpstart weightloss, and I know with this diet I can detox the sugar cravings out of me. I calculated everything to a T, looking up on calories on every little thing I ate today. Surprisingly, my total comes in just under 1000 (997) calories.

The binging thing is now controlled I feel. I know I have some chocolates in the freezer, but I'm not going to touch them until I get into the low 140's. That's my new food/cheating goal! That and a beer if I get to 145 on St. Patty's!

I just bought groceries for the week, $40, and I was very good at the store. Didn't reach or buy any bad food! For once! LOL

I hope I can keep this up for a week. We'll see! Thanks all for reading this!

Good morning girls!

Finished Day 6 of P90! It was nice having the day/night off. Hubby and I relaxed, watched Survivor and went to bed at 9:15. I was tired! LOL Today is strength day at the gym, I LOVE strength days! I noticed something funny this morning, I was laying in bed and looked at my arm, I noticed a lump/bump, its my forearm muscle! LOL I only see it on my right arm, not my left arm. Haha Just thought it was funny! I told my husband "come here and let me forearm you". We both laughed! LOL I watched too much wrestling (WWF) growing up. ;)

Beila, thanks. Keeping a journal is great, it reminds you of what has been going on, if you need to switch something etc. I agree with LTsgirl, your daily calorie intake is too low. I would say you are a very active person, the amount of calories you can consume in a day without gaining weight is about 2,300. If you eat 1,400 (which I think you shouldn't go lower than that, definitely never go under 1,200) that is a deficit of 900 calories (a day) times that by 7 (7 days in a week) = 6,300 calories total. A pound equals 3,500. You will lose just under 2 lbs a week just from food, not including your workouts. Your body needs food for fuel. If you do not feed your body, it will take from other areas of your body, even your muscles. It is very important to eat enough food, if you don't your body shuts down, slowing your metabolism. I eat about 1700 - 2000 calories a day. My meals are not small. When I make grilled chicken I eat 3 chicken tenderloins, 1.5. - 2 cups of veggies, when we made fish tacos, I ate 3 tacos (corn tortillas, about 4oz of fish divided among them, topped with shredded cabbage, tablespoon of guacamole) and then had another 3oz of fish on the side. When you eat your body is looking for nutrients, if it doesn't get enough it will keep craving, making you want to eat more and binge. Everything is up to you, on what you think is best, just wanted to give some info. I know you said you are doing a detox, hope it works well! :) Your workouts are AWESOME, you are doing great!

Please everyone remember, if anyone says anything/suggests something, we are only telling you because we care. I hope some of you do that for/to me. No one knows everything about getting fit and healthy, we learn something new from someone at some point in our lives. :) I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning ladies! My day started kind of crappy. After driving all the way to the gym, my spinning class was full. So I got on the treadmill and ran for 20 minutes. Then 10 min of walking. Yes I finally got on the treadmill to RUN! lol. I am sore, but it is the good kind of sore.

But then it gets better. This is the last week for the fitness challenge. (it is divided into 3 different 5 week sessions, so end of first 5 weeks) I am down exactly 10 lbs from the beginning! 180.6 - 170.6. Then we took waist measurements. I must confess before you hear the numbers, the first taping I didn't suck it in, just stood there like I normally would. Did not try to push out or anything. Then when they taped me this morning, I sucked it in as far as possible. lol. Hey, it's 10 points for every 0.5 in lost. So I went from 36in to 32in in the waist. YAY! Now I am super motivated to keep it up and do even more. Can't wait to see the numbers.

I am treating myself by going out today and buying the Biggest Loser fitness game for the xbox Kinect. I have been trying to decide how to fit in strength training and I think this is the answer. What do you guys think? Anyone have or try it?

Jacki - ROFL! We still watch wrestling in the house sometimes when DH is home. However UFC has kind of taken over. I laugh because our son walked in on us one day in an...um ....compromising position :o and asked what we were doing? We told him we were wrestling on the bed like they do on tv. Of course he wanted to join in. So till this day we still wrestle on the bed with the kids!

Today for lunch I am thinking Sushi. Dinner will be chicken fajitas. Already grilled the chicken and veggies yesterday. (I was already grilling something else).

Beila - have fun hiking with your friend today.

Ann - If I don't hear from ya before tomorrow, Have fun on your vacation. Again - jealous! lol.

He figured out my schedule (it alternates each week, one week I work Mon - Wed, the next is Wed - Fri) to see if I was off 2 of the days, and I am not. LOL I told him, if he wants to go and is going, I will look into taking the days off. How can I pass up Vegas? LOL The only bad thing is he will be busy from 9am - 5pm. So I have something to think about. LOL

I forgot to mention, I tried on my smallest 16's today and they FIT! :carrot: Not all pants are created equal! LOL I was wearing 16's before (past few weeks), but these ones were smaller and I fit them! My daughter said, mom you bought new jeans, I said no, I finally fit my old ones. LOL I have sizes 7 and up, so I can't wait to fit the 14's! :)

Hola Chicas!

Feeling so much better today. 2nd day of no binging! Every now and then I feel a bit of the urge to, but I quickly squash the thought and go on to my plans for what I'm supposed to do.

Chomping on salad right now. It's so yummy! Prawns, suateed bellpepers and corn over lettuce and other fresh veggies. Super filling! I'm measuring everything now, and realizing how to control my portions. Just a teaspon of butter goes a long way, and only 1 tablespoon of salad dressing can really coat all of my salad!

Exercised with my friend at the gym, but we talked for much of it and so only burned about 650 calories. Hopefully going again tonight with my old neighbor. Just walking around the park and maybe jogging before she gets there.

Thank you all for your concerns about my calorie intake and also for the great advice about calorie requirements. I was a little worried about the 1000-1200 calorie range, so I'm going to have my friend who is a nutrition assistant at the hospital check out my calorie needs and food journal. Hopefully she will give me a better perspective. So far though, I don't feel hungry on this diet. I guess the vegetables are filling.

Jacki-- a big WOOOT WHOOOOT! on your smallest 16 size jeans! Your successes are so frequent and motivate me every day. Next you'll be wearing a smaller size altogether! I can't fit into my biggest size at the moment without a muffin top. But hopefully, that will change soon. Btw, you are doing really AWESOME following your exercise plan! Day 6 on P90! Almost done with week 1!! :carrot:

LT-- So glad you did some running on the treadmill despite the spinning class being full. It's all about what we CAN do that makes the difference, and you certainly proved that to yourself today! Also, HOOOO RAAAY for your 10 pound loss! WoOO WOOOT! LOL. Seriously, it seems like 10 pounds is so hard to lose, and you did it in only 5 weeks! So happy for you! :D

So shredding for the wedding kinda sucks, but still I have to say, love wedding shows, and love weightloss shows...it was a good idea, but not sure if it will keep my interest for too long.

Beila--I am just happy to get in one workout everyday. LOL. I'm glad it works for you to break up your exercise. Sounds like a good plan to have your friend help out with your calories/menu. I think it's not something you figure out right away. It takes time to figure out your body and see what works for you and what doesn't.

Jacki--Good for you on the size 16's. That's a great feeling, I bet. Vegas sounds fun. I hope you get to go. How exciting. I'm sure that there are plenty of things to enjoy while DH is working (like just relaxing by the pool!).

LTsgirl--Wow, those are some awesome stats on the weight loss and inches lost. Let us know what you think of TBL xbox kinect workout. I don't have any of those video game things yet, so I'm curious to hear about what you think.

I need to adjust my P90 days. I am suppose to count my off days too (1 day a week). I finished Day 8 today! 82 to go! :) Sweat (cardio) days kick butt! I sweat so much, maybe that is why they call it sweat! LOL I feel great! Wearing my new Calvin Klein workout pants (they are so soft!) and boy shorts undies today (after workout and shower). I feel great! Funny that new workout pants and undies make me happy! Haha

Had my regular breakfast smoothie this morning. Lunch will be a belt sandwich (turkey bacon, egg beaters, lettuce, tomato, light mayo, and whole wheat bread) and small garden salad (romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, crumbled egg, and red vinegar, oil. Dinner will be light and quick, my weigh in is tomorrow! LOL We are having chicken (fried in a pan with pam, little olive oil, minced garlic and my 21 herb/spice seasoning blend (no sodium), and brussel sprouts (boiled for 8 mins, then cooked in a pan with pam, olive oil, minced garlic and 21 herb blend). They are YUMMY! :) Tonight we are going to Chicago, to see my niece perform in her H.S. musical (7:30pm - 9:30pm), we will not have time to workout beforehand, so we plan on going afterwards, if that doesn't happen, we are doing both workouts tomorrow afternoon! Have to make up for it somehow! LOL

It's a rainy day, and I'm kinda bummed. Trapped at home, cause I don't feel like going to the gym. I'm SO BORED of the gym! I was hoping to change things up today and do a bunch of outdoor exercises since I'm just a walking distance to the beach.

So I wanted to do the "stairs" in Santa Monica, a really good workout in Santa Monica Canyon, some beach jogging in the sand, and lunges in the park.

That WAS my plan, now I'm just hoping to try some home exercises: "yoga booty belly", "walk off the pounds" and maybe try to hit the gym one time for a quick cardio session.

We'll see...exercise report due back later.

On the bright side...DAY 3 WITHOUT BINGING!! WOOOO WOOO!
Also, I feel better inside, not so bloated! Also, thanks to the warm lemon water I've been drinking.

Good afternoon ladies! I woke up in a funk. It snowed all night. So I went out this morning and shoveled the snow instead of using the snow blower. Then it snowed another 4 inches and it doesn't look like I did a d*mn thing. So back outside to shovel. At least it is a workout. :D

I went and bought the BL game yesterday. I was just going to turn it on and check it out, but ended up doing 30+ min. lol. There was a fitness test to see where you should start. I was short on space for one of the movements, you have to get on the floor and do hip lifts and move your arms up and down. So I moved closer to the tv and then the kinect sensor wasn't picking me up as well so it stopped and put me in the moderate category. I was a little offended and thought no fair it was the sensor but then it took me to the actual workout. So I went ahead with it for 30 minutes. I learned 2 things:
1. moderate is just fine with me. lol. My legs are burning.
2. I need to find my yoga mat. My knees on the hardwood floor do not go well together.

I was sweating by the end. I will keep you all updated and let you know if I really like it. I do think that I am going to have the kids join in on this one. All this snow, they haven't been getting outside enough.

Beila - WOOOT!!!! WOOOOT!! 3 days!! That's great. Keep up the good work.

Ann - Maybe just allow yourself 1 mickey mouse icre cream cookie. That way you don't drive yourself crazy! But most of all Have FUN!! Talk with you Monday.

So I binged this afternoon. I don't know why I did it. This time I was actually having a real craving for food. I ate a kit kat bar and 1/2 bar of milk chocolate, peanut butter w/ wheat crackers. It wasn't as bad as other binges, but I have to say that I have to start over with Day 1 tomorrow.

My new goal for binging will be 4 days binge free. I'm just taking baby steps I guess. 2 days binge free was actually pretty good considering what I've done these past couple of weeks.

Anyways, my total calorie intake today goes 1500. I haven't had dinner yet, but will probably have a salad and veggies to keep the calories low.

ON A GOOD NOTE... I have discovered how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE to workout at home now! The rain really poured so I couldn't get myself to drive to the gym. However I did the following exercises at home:

-48 min walking 3 miles with 2 five pound weights (330 calories)--it's a DVD called "Walk at Home"
-57 min plyometrics P90x DVD (465 calories)
-35 min dancing w/ yoga booty ballet and freestyle dancing (218 calories)

Total = 1013 cals AT HOME!

So here is a list I just made up to motivate anyone needing to exercise at home:

1. Saves gas!
2. Saves time--getting to from gym
3. Wear whatver skimpy workout clothes you want! Don't need to hide your body.
4. Blast the music however loud you want!
5. Don't have to worry about parking time (I only get 2 hours free at the gym)
6. Don't have to wear socks (saves a pair that I don't have to wash)
7. It's cooler at home vs. stuffy gym
8. Don't have to look stupid doing weights around people.
9. No wait for the exercise
10. Kill the boredom of cardio machines with different DVDs, and try something new!

Anyone have more to add to this list?

Also, I really want to try more dance DVDs. Any other fun ones?

Good morning girls! :)

Today is weigh-in day! Not for another 2 hours when my husband wakes up. I wonder where I am, I haven't wanted to weigh myself, because I know your weight fluctuates from day to day, that just causes the crazies. LOL

The musical was great, I was shocked by some of the material that was used, but it was funny! LOL Todays plan is weigh-in, workout to P90 at 8am, drink my breakfast, put my food list/menu list together, do food inventory (see what I have, and can use for the week), go to the gym 1 hr strength, 1 hr cardio, go food shopping, and come home. Today is date night with hubby, we are going to the movies to see Hall Pass. I can't wait! It is going to be hilarious! If I wasn't eating healthy I would have him take me to Applebees afterwards. If you don't know what I mean, there is a part in the movies that includes Applebee's. LOL

LTsgirl, You got in 2 great workouts! Happy to hear you like BL. That is great to have the kids do it, I am sure they will like that! :)

Beila, All you can do is move forward. That is a good goal to work towards. I hope things getter easier/better. :hug: That is an awesome home workout! GREAT! I think you pretty much covered the advantages of staying home to work out! I thought of one, no one will see you sweat. LOL As far as Hip Hop Abs, I haven't tried it yet. Been too busy with my other workouts. I will try it next week, in place of Shred. :)

Good morning ladies! It is beautiful and sunny today. It is melting all of the snow we got over the last 2 days. Can't wait for it to be gone. Bring on the Spring! I am trying my best to make good choices this weekend. I really need to come up with a workout schedule and stick with it. Right now I just randomly pick what I do by what I feel like when I wake up...with the exception of the spinning classes. I have to become more focused if I really want to continue to lose. Right now I have spinning, treadmill, Zumba, swimming, and BL. I love all of them except the treadmill....d*mn that thing. However in a few weeks I will be able to get outside and run. :D There is another triathlon this June that I am thinking about. My husband will be back and said he would do it with me. Not sure yet. My goal for Monday is to have a schedule in place.

Warning rant ahead. This is the last time I talk about this as a problem. Promise. cross my heart.
I was super excited by my numbers for the fitness challenge and you guys were all great and supportive....thanks!.....so I called my friend. **sigh** I told her about my progress and the waist size difference. You know what she said to me? "Really? I don't see it." That is the last time I have talked to her this week. I'm not saying the friendship is over, but EVERYTHING to do with the fitness challenge is now off limits to talk about with her. That is why there will be no more rants. Okay. I'm done.

Jacki - Fingers crossed for the weigh in. It sounds like you have had a great week so I hope it reflects on the scale. Are you sure you shouldn't go to Olive Garden instead? lol. It looks hilarious. Maybe I'll talk DH into going to see it next weekend while visiting. By the way, my butt is so sore from doing the BL.

Beila - Well at least it didn't turn into an all out binge fest. You had enough self control to stop and that is great! Is it sweets you crave. I had a friend who did Atkins and took a natural supplement (L-Glutamine) that she swore helped get rid of the sugar cravings. BTW my favorite part is wearing whatever I want. I have the tight fitting stretchy pants that I like to wear at home and sometimes only a sports bra. Will never wear anything like that to the gym. Only loose fitting sweat pants and t-shirts for the gym.

Hey yall! I just wanted to check in... Oh and welcome GirlsR'Us!

I did awesome today! Binge free DAY 1, again lol, but it still counts!

I did gym cardio workouts, 1 hour 50 min and 1001 calories burned! My calorie intake totals 1050, but what's even more awesome is that it includes 1/2 bar dark chocolate. I actually managed my portion control over it, rather than turning it into a binge! Woo hoo! It's supposed to be part of the "Flat Belly Diet" which says you can have MUFAs with your meals.

So I will try to adress everyone tomorrow, but I'm hoping everyone is doing alright with their diet and exercise.

Remember, if anyone falls off track, just think, you can get back on with the very next meal, or the very next day.

Pants tighter today than they have been in a looong time. Found this site just in time. I really need to work on "listening" to my body for when it is full and stop feeding it so much junk. Glad to have the support of this group.

I am just over the 30's :( but does one year really count? I have 4 grown kids the youngest is 18...I gained all my weight at 32 by 36 i had a Hysterectomy and sadly I am 5 lbs above the weight after that....so Its time.

I just gave up...was taken care of my mother and kids and depression and all those other excuses we all have. I am trying for the 1st time in a while to pull myself together.

I need a few encouraging friends for sure...

Jewels-- Welcome to this forum. I am 30 y o, but no kids. I hope to share this weightloss journey with you! Depression is hard, but exercise really helps with that. Take each day one at a time and you'll get to your goal!

Jacki-- I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope that your family is alright and that you all have a safe trip to/from KY. As far as diet/exercise goes, I hope that your weigh in was good. I'm sure you did well. In the end, all that matters is that you are happy with yourself. You are doing so good with your meal and exercise planning and P90 workouts. Your determination and committment has rubbed off on me, and now I have been keeping a journal, which has helped me alot.

LT-- Have you got a workout plan in place? It's almost Monday! Please share. Would love to hear about it. Your workouts really motivate me.You know you motivated me to workout at home that rainy day when you said your spinning class was full and you decided to run on the treadmill! About your friend in the fitness challenge, I would say the same thing. She may be jealous about your weightloss. The competitiveness is really something though! USE IT to your advantage! Next time, work harder, longer, be more committed to it. I really want you to beat her!! Please beat her for me! Please feel free to rant all you want about her. Let out your emotions here. That's what we're all here for right?!

Ann-- The lemon water thing has really helped me! I've been having it in the morning with breakfast and night with dinner. I've also read online about so many of the health benefits. Thanks for the tip girl! How was Disney? Did you manage to stay on track foodwise? I hope you had fun!

Okay, so some GOOD NEWS....FINALLY, right?! I am now 150.5! Well that is I caught a glimpse of it on the scale! So I'm really going to aim for 140's this week! Yay!

Today is Day 2 binge free...hope it goes well.

Tuesday I have a meeting to attend...they're serving wine and snacks. Someone, please help me! What should I do to avoid this temptation?

Hey girls. I am happy today. I looked in the mirror and for the first time "saw" the difference. I knew that it was changing because of the clothes and the weight on the scale, but I could see a difference today. :carrot:

Well I am sorry to say that she beat me. Don't worry. I am not defeated. There are still 10 weeks left of the challenge. She only beat me by 1 lb. So I closed the gap that she had in the beginning of the challenge.

Are you sitting down? I ran 5 miles on the treadmill today!! It took me 1 hour, but I did it. And it felt good. I wanted to sweat and then weigh in. Plus I need to be ready for the race on Saturday.

Beila - WOO HOOO! congrats on the weight loss.
Red wine is good for you. Maybe have one glass and eat before so the snacks won't be tempting.
I still haven't made a schedule. lol. This week is moot anyways. My friend is coming Wed. night and I am taking her out to dinner. I leave Thursday early morning. So I have Mon-Wed to workout. Then my husband said we would run Thurs. night when I got there. Then Friday off because Saturday is the big day. www.warriordash.com shows what I will be doing. Looks like so much fun. Can't wait.

Welcome jewelswa!! I have four kids but my youngest is only 4. We always knew we wanted 4 kids so in between kids I wasn't concerned about my weight cause I knew I would just gain it back with the next pregnancy. (at least that is what I told myself / excuse to be lazy and eat what I wanted) Now I have no excuse. She turns 5 next month.

I'll post personals tomorrow, but just wanted to say a quick hi. We had a great trip. I did not stay on plan, but I did not eat nearly as much as I would have normally eaten. I guess I can consider that a victory, but certainly far far from on plan. LOL. Back on track tomorrow.

Today also started TTOM for me, so between being off plan and having to deal with that, I'm planning to stay off the scale for a few days so as to not get myself too depressed. I weighed myself the day we left, so I'll use that one as my weigh in for this week. Cheating? Perhaps. LOL.

Talk with you all tomorrow. Sorry that I don't have time for personals tonight.

Welcome back Ann. Glad to hear you had a good time. It's vacation and you are supposed to enjoy yourself. Don't beat yourself up too much. Just get right back on plan, use the pre-vacation weight. (shhhhhh....I won't tell)

So I have a confession. I weighed about 165lbs last May. Now that I am getting close to the 160's again, I am freaking out a little. It was so hard to get there last time. Then we moved and DH left in June for training and I gained almost all of it back. Now I am almost there again and my life is about to change again. DH comes home for good in March. The good thing is he is a great work out partner and he struggles with his weight, so he understands and is very supportive.

First go round, we did atkins together to lose. I think that is what made it so hard. It has honestly been a lot easier once I really committed to it. Who knew - diet and exercise. lol. I guess the freak out is that I haven't been out of the 160's in 10 years. What if I can't do it? It sounds stupid, I know. But I am so afraid of hitting a wall/plateau. I also read everywhere that the last few pounds are the hardest to lose. Also afraid of quitting and gaining it all back.

Wow. Who knew a number could cause such anxiety?

Just a quick rant... I'll write more about in response to the above tomorrow, but I just need to let out steam :(

So my mom just called me. Anyways, she just annoys me and I feel like she can't understand me, or cares about me. I don't know, just a really complicated relationship. I don't expect anyone here to try to understand my family issues, it goes years back. Anyhoo, the emotional upset that this phone call left me in caused me to binge, ughhh. I ate a entire bar of dark chocolate. They are a lot of calories, like 280, so when I eat them, I just feel bad, cause that's like 30 min hardcore working out at the gym.

Fortunately I have no more chocolates in my fridge since I ate em all.

I don't know, I just wish I didn't have these family problems, I wish I had a boyfriend or was married already so I could have my own family and people who actually care about me.

It might be TTOM, so who knows why I'm ranting. Well, that's it. Just glad that I have you girls to rant to. Sorry, but thanks for reading. It makes me feel better.
