Suppose your best friend asked you for advice on losing weight and you could only tell him/her ONE thing. . . what would it be?

The only way to fail to reach your goal is to stop before you get there.

All the replies are good so far, but I really like this one.

You will be successful and make youre goals when you're committed mentally and physically.

*my big problem was I kept thinking I was ready to lose weight but wasnt, i was scared mentally and thought I couldnt do it. Now after dropping 16 pounds, I know that being both mentally and physically ready is key*

Every decision you make will impact your life in one way or another... make the decisions that will impact it for the better.

Don't mistake small and slow successes for failure.

You need to take, and maintain responsibility for what you are now, and also what you will be in the future; no one can control that except you.

Keeping it off after losing it is just as hard as losing it. It's a long-term commitment!

Don't focus on the whole amount you have to lose, just take it 10 or even 5 pounds at a time. Those smaller amounts will eventually add up to something huge!

The quote I live by now a days is:
"When you want what youíve never had, you must do what youíve never done."

Every time I feel like giving up, like there's no hope and I'm going to be like this the rest of my life, I say this to myself.

That and "Feeling happy, confident, and healthy is 10x better than any Dunkin' Donut!"

Make a commitment to remain on plan for one year and stick to it no matter what the scale says.

I would say be honest with yourself, when we are many things will reveal themselves or fall into place. :)

Weight loss is a long journey, the only way you will fail is if you quit trying

Pick a plan that is sustainable, its great if you lose a bunch of weight quickly, but if you cant sustain whatever you are doing to lose, at best, you will stall, and at worst, you will gain it all back or more

When you need to lose 100 lbs, losing just half that amount will change your life for the better by a lot!
