GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, the first is a repeat of the one posted last year during Thanksgiving week:
Some of the biggest, most positive and enduring accomplishments are the result of small efforts repeated again and again. There is enormous, nearly unstoppable power in those small efforts when they're focused consistently in the same direction.
Tiny, soft water droplets will eventually wear smooth the hardest of stones. So too will small, positive efforts eventually yield big and valuable results.
Your thoughts and actions in the smallest, most seemingly insignificant moments truly matter. They matter very much more than they would seem. For it is in those small, ordinary moments that extraordinary accomplishments are built. It is in the actual living that a life of distinction, success and fulfillment is achieved.
Though you may only move a few inches at a time, those small steps, taken one after another, will eventually put you miles and miles ahead. See the value and real opportunity in each small moment, because those small moments are indeed what combine to make a big and magnificent life.

STICK IT OUT
Most of the limitations you experience are largely defined, supported and given energy by your own perceptions. Change those perceptions, genuinely raise your expectations, and the limitations will begin to melt away.
The experience of limitation is only one way, out of many possible ways you have, for relating to a particular situation. You are always free to make another choice, to relate to your circumstances in a more positive, empowering way.
Though one approach may be blocked, it is only one of many possible approaches. Limitations are always finite, yet the number of positive possibilities is unlimited.
Whatever is holding you back is doing so because you have accepted it as something that's holding you back. Imagine what would happen if you accepted, with just as much certainty, the very real possibility of moving forward.
Are you looking at the world through the fog of limitation or are you seeing the bright, shining clarity of your best possibilities? The way you choose to perceive where you are can make a world of difference in where you end up going.

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:
I've been up and out of bed since 4:30am, waking up at 4am. This is the second day in a row at the same exact time. I can't get myself back to sleep! ARGGGHHH!
Hope you all enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to this Thanksgiving week:D SUZANNE moved the board to a new server. I e-mailed everyone to notify them about the move and how things posted on the board may disappear, esp. on Saturday. If you did NOT get an e-mail from me then you aren't on the BIO BOARD or on my e-mail list and it's not intentional. If you'd like to be notified about the board when things arise send me your e-mail to put on my list @ Debelli@AOL.COM.
I had a wonderful day yesterday! I finally got to meet DENISE!:D Not only did I get to meet her, but also her DD Amber, her DB Gary and Gary's brother. Of course, we met at OLE OLE! Had a terrific lunch, as usual, with the salsa bowls littering the table in the interm. Just as always, meeting another gal from the board has been a wonderful experience and DENISE is a wonderful person which I know as those of you who will have the opportunity to meet her as well one day, will like her just as much as I do. Even before I met her I liked her, then upon meeting her, liked her even more so:)
After lunch and lots of gabbing we just ran around up in Broward. Gary and his brother left and DENISE & AMBER came with us in our car and went to a few stores, not to mention a stop at the local Starbucks! We thought about going to a movie but I think between DENISE & I are arses were both dragging from lack of sleep, we probably would of fallen asleep in the movie! I rarely drink coffee, but for the first time in my life I had 2 cups yesterday and niether of them seemed to help!
DENISE, I really enjoyed meeting you (Amber, Gary and his brother) yesterday! I know we didn't do anything special, but just finally getting the chance to meet you, spend some time with you, that was a great day as far as I'm concerned. I hope we can get together more often, esp. since we live not too far. You are a wonderful person. AMBER is a doll, really. I think my kids would love to meet her. GARY is a nice guy and you can see he cares about you very much. I hope that ring appears for you soon!!! Talk to you soon!
MELF, glad we were able to talk on the phone. I'll search the web for some fares for January for you and let you know what I may be able to find.
THUNDER, welcome back! I'm sure you'll get back on track, you just have to get focused and come on the board as much as you can for the support that we're all ready to give:D
Well gals, I know this week is truly the beginning of the holiday rush and I know many of you are going to be busy from here on, more so than usual. PLEASE try your hardest to stay connected to the board, even if it's just a quickie. With past experience over the years I know we will lose some of you, if not just during the holiday season, possibly for good which usually happens with a major falling off the wagon and in to deep dark holes. I hope we, as a group, can avoid this this year and not lose anyone. Staying connected to the board in some capacity, even the smallest, will help you stay OP to some degree or at least get back on track ASAP.
Gotta run and get ready to get the kids off to school. Will check in later!

Morning All!
Had a so-so weekend. Ate way too much, some of it illegal. Like half a jar of beets! (I love beets). DH got himself some chips and I had too many of those too. I'm lucky cause this morning the scale is at 167 down from the 170:o of yesterday.
I'll try to breeze back onto the board later with a few replies. Just wanted to share this article that helped explain those mysterious "gains" and why the scale can fluctuate so much. Hope you guys find it interesting.
From: www.***************.net_
Why The Scale Lies...
We've been told over an over again that daily weighing is unnecessary, yet many of us can't resist peeking at that number every morning. If you just can't bring yourself to toss the scale in the trash, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the
A single teaspoon of salt contains over 2,000 mg of sodium. Generally, we should only eat between 1,000 and 3,000 mg of sodium a day, so it's easy to go overboard. Sodium is a sneaky substance. You would expect it to be most highly concentrated in salty chips, nuts, and crackers. However, a food doesn't have to taste salty to be loaded with sodium. A half cup of instant pudding actually contains nearly four times as much sodium as an ounce of salted nuts, 460 mg in the pudding versus 123 mg in the nuts. The more highly processed a food is, the more likely it is to have a high sodium content.
That's why, when it comes to eating, it's wise to stick mainly to the basics: fruits, vegetables, lean meat, beans, and whole grains. Be sure to read the labels on canned foods, boxed mixes, and frozen dinners. Women may also retain several pounds of water prior to menstruation. This is very common and the weight will likely disappear as quickly as it arrives. Pre-menstrual water-weight gain can be minimized by drinking plenty of water, maintaining an exercise program, and keeping high-sodium processed foods to a minimum.
Another factor that can influence the scale is glycogen. Think of glycogen as a fuel tank full of stored carbohydrate. Some glycogen is stored in the liver and some is stored the muscles themselves. This energy reserve weighs more than a pound and it's packaged with 3-4 pounds of water when it's stored. Your glycogen supply will shrink during the day if you fail to take in enough carbohydrates. As the glycogen supply shrinks you will experience a small imperceptible increase in appetite and your body will restore this fuel reserve along with it's associated water. It's normal to experience glycogen and water weight shifts of up to 2 pounds per day even with no changes in your calorie intake or activity level. These fluctuations have nothing to do with fat loss, although they can make for some unnecessarily dramatic weigh-ins if you're prone to obsessing over the number on the scale.
Otherwise rational people also tend to forget about the actual weight of the food they eat. For this reason, it's wise to weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you've had anything to eat or drink. Swallowing a bunch of food before you step on the scale is no different than putting a bunch of rocks in your pocket. The 5 pounds that you gain right after a huge dinner is not fat. It's the actual weight of everything you've had to eat and drink. The added weight of the meal will be gone several hours later when you've finished digesting it.
Exercise physiologists tell us that in order to store one pound of fat, you need to eat 3,500 calories more than your body is able to burn. In other words, to actually store the above dinner as 5 pounds of fat, it would have to contain a whopping 17,500 calories. This is not likely, in fact it's not humanly possible. So when the scale goes up 3 or 4 pounds overnight, rest easy, it's likely to be water, glycogen, and the weight of your dinner. Keep in mind that the 3,500 calorie rule works in reverse also. In order to lose one pound of fat you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you take in. Generally, it's only possible to lose 1-2 pounds of fat per week. When you follow a very low calorie diet that causes your weight to drop 10 pounds in 7 days, it's physically impossible for all of that to be fat. What you're really losing is water, glycogen, and muscle.
This brings us to the scale's sneakiest attribute. It doesn't just weigh fat. It weighs muscle, bone, water, internal organs and all. When you lose "weight," that doesn't necessarily mean that you've lost fat. In fact, the scale has no way of telling you what you've lost (or gained). Losing muscle is nothing to celebrate. Muscle is a metabolically active tissue. The more muscle you have the more calories your body burns, even when you're just sitting around. That's one reason why a fit, active person is able to eat considerably more food than the dieter who is unwittingly destroying muscle tissue.
Robin Landis, author of "Body Fueling," compares fat and muscles to feathers and gold. One pound of fat is like a big fluffy, lumpy bunch of feathers, and one pound of muscle is small and valuable like a piece of gold. Obviously, you want to lose the dumpy, bulky feathers and keep the sleek beautiful gold. The problem with the scale is that it doesn't differentiate between the two. It can't tell you how much of your total body weight is lean tissue and how much is fat. There are several other measuring techniques that can accomplish this, although they vary in convenience, accuracy, and cost. Skin-fold calipers pinch and measure fat folds at various locations on the body, hydrostatic (or underwater) weighing involves exhaling all of the air from your lungs before being lowered into a tank of water, and bioelectrical impedance measures the degree to which your body fat impedes a mild electrical current. If the thought of being pinched, dunked, or gently zapped just doesn't appeal to you, don't worry. The best measurement tool of all turns out to be your very own eyes. How do you look? How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Are your rings looser? Do your muscles feel firmer? These are the true measurements of success. If you are exercising and eating right, don't be discouraged by a small gain on the scale. Fluctuations are perfectly normal. Expect them to happen and take them in stride. It's a matter of mind over scale.

He Laid Her On The Table
He laid her on the table,
So white, clean and bare.
His forehead wet with beads of sweat,
He rubbed her here and there.
He touched her neck and then her breast,
And then, drooling, felt her thigh.
The slit was wet and all was set,
He gave a joyous cry.
The hole was wide...he looked inside,
All was dark and murky.
He rubbed his hands and stretched out his arms,
And then ...........
......he stuffed the turkey!
***********************
SOLSHINE sent me this one:
"Twas the night of Thanksgiving
But I just couldn't sleep,
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned-
The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation
With all of my might.
Tossing and turning,
with anticipation,
The thought of a snack,
Became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey,
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling,
So plump and so round,
'til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding,
And a handful of pie.
But, I manage to yell,
As I soared past the trees...
"Happy eating to all-
Pass the cranberries, please".
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes 'n gravy,
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner,
Stay off of your thighs.
Got in my 4.5 miles this morning. Was hard due to my lack of sleep as of late and still not totally over this cold, but out I went and it wan't too bad of a time, 50:40.
Don't have too much planned today, cleaning, that's about it. I have cousins in from MD that may come to spend the night Friday night, so will have to tidy up for that. Basically I guess I'll just see what I need as far as supplies go for what I'm taking to my family on TG day and go to the store today to beat the crowds.
I am totally back on track, 100%! I made it through those first 3 days and it feels great!:D
ZANNE, I've posted that before but it's always welcome to be posted time and time again. It's actually on the RECOMMENDED READING BOARD, I believe. Very true! Beets??? OMG, if I'm going to cheat it sure wouldn't be on beets! Beets??? LOL!!
Okay, I'm outta here for now-check in later!

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was too busy for someone who is supposed to be spending two more weeks in a vegetative state. I went shopping, and cooked on Saturday, then watched a movie with my married daughter. (It was called A Clandestine Marriage and was pretty cute) Yesterday was the big Thanksgiving breakfast at church. I slept yesterday afternoon, and slept late this morning, and I feel pretty good! I intend to take it easy, but I am trying to work in some activities so I am not totally weak and useless once I am off restricted activity.
My eating has been so so. I did great at the breakfast, yesterday. I am eating too many starchy carbs, so starting today, I am going to try and avoid having any for a few days and see how that goes. Instead, I am going to concentrate on eating protein, veggies, and fruits.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello all
A great big WAR EAGLE! to all! yesssiree--it was Auburn-Alabama weekend--and Auburn just rolled right over the Tide! Couldn't have been better.
BOB--See--IT WORKED! I know it killed you to mutter those words, but the end result was worth it. Couldn't have done it without you!
ALSO my NC STATE beat Fla State for the second year in a row! Gator--We've gotten them beaten and brusied for you--have your way with them seminoles!
Today I've got to get ready to go to Wilmington tomorrow. Got to change the oil in the car, go buy pecans, wash, pack, convince the kitty she won't die in the car--oh yes, at some point I need to work today. Sheesh.
I can't wait to get on the road. Unfortunatly I slept wrong the other night and my lower back has stiffened up and won't unkink! Today is the day I really need that massage. I am getting an hour of foot reflexology done at noon today. I still had some money left on my gift certificate after the massage, so in honor of the shopping marathon on Friday, I'm getting my feet into shape today!
I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving--and an OP one! Turkey is a wonderful SB food. Dry some SGWW bread and break it into pieces and you have the basis for a fine dressing (add some celery, onions, butter, sage, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and turkey stock--I also throw some oysters into mine, but that's optional). Some veggies--at my house it is brocolli with cheese sauce. For dessert whip up some of Deb's crustless cheesecake--or I will make an apple pie sweetened with Agave in a SGWW crust (the recipe is on the Hodgson Mills website)--YUM YUM YUM! Oh yes--and don't forget the sweettaters!
Christmas may be hard with everyone throwing sweets at us--but Thanksgiving is a good SB holiday!!!!!!!
Deb--I'm glad you got to meet Denise this weekend. I'm not sure if I will be able to make the Disner World weekend. I want to, but now that I've gone back to work at the church--I'm working on Sundays now. I've got to take the 19th off in order to get ready for our state's inaugural fesitivites on the 20th. So I'm not sure I can do two in Jan--but I'm gonna work on it! If I can find a really really cheat ticket I might try to come Fri morning and leave Saturday.
Zanne--Beets? OK I have to admit that one's not hard for my to stay away from! I do pretty well until I go to church--then everyone is always pushing sweets--they bake and bring it to the church office--and they get so offended when you don't eat it. I'm thinking seriously about positing the verse from Romans that says it is not good to do anything that makes your brother or sister stumble! HA!
Have a good day everyone. I'll try to check in while I'm in NC--but have a good Thanksgiving everyone!

Ok, I have a few minutes to reply to a few of you, then back to the school for my interview with the teacher. Really, I should be doing laundry or something instead of being here, but here is more fun!:goodvibes
DEBELLI--Guess that shows how much I read the Recommended Reading Board ;) Thanks for you MM. They're so true. I think I'll copy out those poems and just change "Thanksgiving" to "Christmas"I'm glad you're feeling better now. I'm with you on the not getting enough sleep thing. Too bad I don't live near you--we could go for our walk together at 4:30am
MONET--Glad to hear you're feeling a little better. Just don't OVERDO it.
THUNDER--Welcome back to the board. You know you'll get all the help and encouragement you'll need here. Just take it one meal at a time. Maybe set yourself some small goals as looking at the big picture is sometimes too overwhelming.
JACKK--The hummus at the store is no where near as good as DEB'S HUMMUS. The bus thing was scary, but it was so fast and put me in a bit of shock that I didn't think to get the bus # till it was too late. The ice rink--None of us are real skaters! :^: Hubby doesn't own skates (yet), I hate my girly skates that I've had for 20 years (I trip on the toe picks) and DS hated his one time on bob-skates. Hopefully we'll get a rink all froze up so we can "improve" ourselves
BOB--Glad you had fun with Baby Jay and family. Our fire is a-blazing! I actually LIKE winter! I had heard it was cold in Florida. My inlaws arrived in West Palm Beach a week ago and complained it was 60 at night.
SEF--Gosh, you are so organized and sooooo busy! I only toasted up one pita bread to see if I would like the oregano on it. Silly me never thought to stick the extra in the freezer! Thanks for the tip.
I gotta get and make myself presentable for the teacher.
EVERYONE have a GREAT SB day!

The sun is shining and it's still wonderful outside. The front hasn't gotten here yet. I hope everyone had a super weekend. I never did ear right yesterday..mostly just nibbles so I am starving this morning. :) Can't think of anything I really want for breakfast though..ugh. I've been laying in bed thinking of all the cooking coming up for Thanksgiving. All the goodies that I won't get to eat. I was gonna make the mac and cheese with whole wheat but they don't sell it here in my town and I didn't make it to a bigger town....but I'm sure my family will be glad because they love it the traditional way...all gooey with cheese.
Robert got his first deer last night. So we spent a couple of hours getting it ready for the freezer. I did have a taste of the backstrap...delicious. I wanted to dive head first into the milk gravy but I had restraint....LOL
Loved the article Zanne . It really helps to keep things in perspective.
Deb Awesome getting back OP and getting out this morning. Sounds like you and Denise had a nice visit. Did ya'll take any pictures? Mom and I went to Starbucks the other day and it was a disaster. There were like a million things to order. I had no idea what was caffine and sugar free and the guys working there couldn't help me. Might be because we went through the drive though. Is there anything you can recommend other than plain coffee?
Susan Praying that back unkinks and you have a pleasant drive. Your Thanksgiving plans sound yummy.
Monet Woman...you'd better not over do and get back under the weather. :) ((hugzz))
Wendy and Sabrina!!!! How are you two doing?
Love and hugs to everybody!!!!!

Today's thought is:
It is often the fear of rejection which makes us afraid
to give of ourselves. The person who is reluctant to share
at a meeting may be holding back because of this fear.
To share is to reveal who we are and where we are. If we
feel inadequate, we do not want to expose this imagined inadequacy to other people.
If our self-image is too grand and inflated, we cannot
possibly live up to it in reality. Expecting ourselves to be perfect sets us up for frustration and fear, since we know deep down that we do not measure up to our image of perfection.
With humility comes the willingness to give of what
we have and what we are right now, without waiting
until we are more eloquent or more accomplished. What
we have to share is what someone else needs to receive.
By focusing more on the needs of others and less on the imaginary concept of ourselves, which is our ego, we learn to overcome our fear of giving. What we have to give now is enough for today.
Also, I liked my Snoopy Calendar today, it reads:
Gratitude. More aware of what you have than what you don't. Recognizing the treasure in the simple-a child's hug, fertile soil, a golden sunset. Max Lucado
Me...I'm struggling to stay on track, but determined not to be back at the ugly weight (at least that's how I feel) that I'm at now 170. Turkey day shouldn't be to bad, as I don't like mashed potatoes and here that's the worst carb, before dessert. Have to go to the dr. now.
Hugs to all!

Checking in here this morning. Reading about all this American Thanksgiving stuff is making me hungry!! I hope everyones preparations go well this week.
BOB-I have learned to sew things from scratch but I have yet to attempt alterations. I have lots of things to try to take-in in my closet though. I would like to learn how to do it right instead of the quick fixes that come to mind. Perhaps I'll get a book on it and when I learn I will let you know!
ZANNE- Good article. No wonder all my amazing weight losses in a weeks time end up back on my butt!!
MONET- Just saying :hello:

Mornin' y'all. It's gonna be a good week here at school. Only two days:lol:then we're off till next Monday. It's a good thing we only have two days cause the natives are restless. I'm determined to get back OP today. We ate mexican two nights in a row and I had the chips.:yikes:I'm sure the scale is up but I'm not lookin'!
We're getting our house refinanced and doing a home equity loan to get rid of the card debt. It will save a significant amound to $$$ each month that we will turn around and invest. The people we're working with are also financial planners that are helping us set up retirement for Dennis. Anyway, I'm kind of excited about it.
Planning to go to MIL's on Thursday. I think I can do pretty good there since I don't really care too much for her dressing. But I know I won't make it at my Mom's on Sat. Her dressing is to die for and I know she'll make chocolate pie that I can't resist. I'm just going to try and not over indulge.
GRACIOUS: WTG on your sewing. I used to make all of Dennis' work shirts. He's a big guy and it was expensive to buy shirts to fit him. Prices aren't so bad now. JCPenney has a decent selection of big and tall that isn't too pricey. I don't have the time or the want to to sew clothes anymore. I like doing quilt tops much better.
COUNTRY: I'm jealous. Deer. YUM. Dennis hasn't had a spot to hunt for many years. Are y'all expecting cold weather. It's really nasty here today.
FILLISE: Have a good trip and be careful. Hope the back unkinks.
MONET: Be careful and don't overdo.:nono:
ZANNE: Thanks for posting the article. Very interesting.
Gotta go and corral kids. They're wild. :yikes:

I had a nice huge bowl of egg flower soup for lunch. So easy to make, and so tasty! And no starches! I have been trying to get myself organized for the coming ordeals of Thanksgiving, and then preparing for Christmas. I do not feel up to it!
Thinking about all the work that has to be done makes me want to take a nap...so I think I will! You know, I am going to miss being able to be lazy once I get past the next two weeks and have no excuse for it anymore! Maybe I will act like I am not fully recovered! :s:
COUNTRY: We have a friend that makes Bambi chili every year for a huge Super Bowl party. He makes it really hot, and a pot of wimpy for those like me who can't take his hot stuff. I like venison in chili, but can't bring myself to taste it plain! I know..I know..I am so silly! I tried a pigeon egg once at a Chinese New Year feast, and thought I would die. I can be adventurous, but not too much! ;)
GRACIOUS: Learn to do alterations, and you can have a thriving business in no time! It sure is hard to find someone to do that kind of thing, and here they charge a LOT! I used to sew, but I have no patience with details...so you can imagine what my stuff looked like!
LDBLOND: You don't like mashed potatoes? I wish I was like you! And my kids would riot if there was not a HUGE bowl of them with gravy on the table. My hubby makes incredible gravy, but mashing the potatoes is always my job. It sure is hard to resist! Hope you are feeling ok, and everything is going well.
ZANNE: Hope the interview with the teacher went ok. Thanks for the articles... And I am with you...its more fun on here than doing laundry! ;)
MUSIC: CHIPS! The wagon is going to roll over you, woman! Hey, I am impressed you made shirts for you hubby! Thanks for the tip about J C Penney's! I have a son who is 6'4" and rather broadly built. Finding clothes for him is a chore. He is so picky too! I will check out Penney's!
FILLISE: Have a great trip! Hope Ms Belle does ok! I don't think my cat could handle a car trip! He meows constantly in a whiny voice as soon as you close the door to the carrier. This is a cat who rarely makes any noise at all! When are you coming to Atlanta?
DEB: Glad to hear you are back on program! You are awesome! I got a number of Christmas presents from the lady who you got the bracelet from. She has some really nice stuff. I hope I get that bracelet too...Laura will love it! The auction ends tomorrow...

Hi All!! Just a quick note to let you all know that I'm still alive & kicking. Running ragged is really more like it
Still trying to get my dd situated. Can't seem to get the damaged trailer moved so that we can start getting the form ready to do a concrete slab for the new double-wide. She's praying to be in by Christmas, but chances look slim. We're so jam packed in the house that it makes things rough, but I REALLY AM enjoying having her & the boys here. It's just that SHE is ready to get back to normal & so are the boys. Well, it will happen when the time is right.
Have to get ready for work. Will try to get back here when I can. Still fighting the same few lbs back & forth. Hoping to keep things under control for Thanksgiving. Have the day off, but the rest of the week will be pretty busy.
Debbie, soooo nice to finally get to talk with you last night. Did as you suggested & checked on Fort Lauderdale, so I do have my ticket. Will let you know more details via email within the next few days. So sweet of you to go out of your way to help me make this trip a reality. So looking forward to this whole trip!! :cloud9:

Fillise--I was pulling for the Tigers. Glad to see you are having a happy week. And your Wolfpack! Yeah man. Too bad about the terrapins! They let the Nolies sneak in with an ACC champ. win. If we can do the job on the Noles, they will go to the BCS with 5 losses. Heh heh heh. I won't make any predictions about the game, though. The Gators aren't much better than our upstate rival.
Have a great trip.

Well, better late than never. Here it is afternoon already. My morning has been full of problems. First of all, our DSL line wasn't working and I couldn't get on first thing.:( Then my DD calls and her car won't start. Like I could do something about it. Well 6 phone calls later they tow her car in. I had to go pick her up at the car place and let her bring me back to work so she could use my car to get to work. We thought it might be the battery and she said if they jumped it she was bring me her car and getting mine. So I could be stuck if it didn't start again> KIDS! Wish I hade 2 more. :s:
Had a busy weekend. I was so proudn of myself Friday night. Went to happy hour and only drank diet coke. Then we went out for Mexican. I had my 7 triscuits to dip in the salsa and I ordered fajitas and shared with DH (after he ate all of his dinner). Went to a karoke place and still had diet coke. Sat went to the track and had 3 grapefuit juice and vodka. Ate 100% Op though. Then at the birthday party, I continued to drink the vodka and gf juice. I ate a salad and she had lasagna so I had a small bite and that was it. I would do fine if I would just leave the vodka alone. Sunday was fine with eating.
I have to make a bunch of snacks to take to my DS for dinner TG. Probably do veggies and mexican wraps and something else. I will b e taking a baked sweet potatoe for me. Thanksgiving is pretty easy to stay legal.
Haven't had time to go back and read the Sat & Sunday boards. I hear Thunder is back. Welcome back. I hoe to catch up later.
Deb, sorry I missed your call. I was gone all Sat and part of Sunday. I sure hope we don't lose anyone over the holidays. We all need to keep connected. Sounds like a great meeting wtih Denise. Glad you all had fun.
Zanne, Beets? I'm not cheating for beets? Hang in there.
Monet, Sounds like you are overdoing. Watch out, Bob will be coming after you.
Fillise, I'm with you. TG is a SB holiday. Easy to stay legal. Just got to plan ahead. Have a safe trip and have fun too!
Country, Don't think about the things you can't have. Think of al lthe good things you can have. Make some desserts for you.
IDBlond, With such a long post, I take it you hands are better today. I hope so. Thanks for the MM. So true. Good luck at the Dr's.
Gracious, I wish we already had our Thanksgiving like you. Christmas is 1 month from today :yikes:
Music, Sounds like you are getting your finances all lined up. Good for you. Don't be planning already to cheat. You can do it. How abut just a taste? Which is more important, pie or losing weight?
Better get some work done here.

Well, I can't believe that I finally met Debbie and Eli yesterday! What EXTREMELY nice people! :flow2: Trust me, she's just as nice in person as she is on the internet. She wore me out shopping all day after eating at Ole Ole!! SHE'S DEFINITELY A SHOPPER!! Also, Eli was our chauffer and he was just as friendly as Debbie. Eli didn't wince once when we kept going and going and going.... I think I may have spent too much, but oh well, you only live once.
We went to Whole Foods and Debbie was master of that kingdom. She showed me everything that was legal and what we could eat on SB. Wow, what a tour... I had no idea. Thanks Debbie for the great learning experience. She knows her stuff!!
After doing all that on Sunday, I went home and still had to shop at Publix. Publix now has that Nature's Own Sugar Free bread. I was in shock! :yikes: I saw Star Bucks coffee at Publix in the coffee aisle, but I didn't know about the flavored grounded coffee. i.e. hazel nut flavoured grounds. The bag says that it's flavored by natural and artificial flavors. There is no specific ingredients in the coffee. Debbie, is this legal???
Anyhow, I'm pretty tired today as I was cooking pies till about 10 pm. last night. I cooked 2 SF apple pies and 2 SF pumpkin pies for the company party tomorrow and for my family's thanksgiving party. I also bought a SF cherry swirl cheesecake at Whole Foods just in case everything tasted awful. I will know today as I will have to taste test them. I hope they are okay as I plan on staying on plan during Thanksgiving ...
Debbie: THANK YOU for all your kind words about my family and I. YOU ARE TOO SWEET!! :flow1: It's nice to meet someone like you is who is not only friendly and nice, but responsible and level headed too.. Seeing you and hearing your story has given me so much inspiration to finally get this weight off for good! Thank you for the coffee and for spending the day with Amber and I. It really meant a lot to me. I feel very lucky to have you and the people on this board in my life:lucky: We will get together soon! Oh, btw, my mom is staying at The Best Inn where two other runner friends of hers are staying...
Monet: It sounds like you are shopping and cooking...Hmmm, is this really what the doctor ordered? ;) You better get some rest girl or you're going to get your wish of additional weeks rest! What is egg flower soup? Can you share the recipe?
I too am going to concentrate on just eating protein, fruits and veggies.
Bob: Yes, I will be in Orlando. I am car pooling with Debbie so we will be up on Friday early. Sounds like you had a great weekend with Baby Jay. I'm very happy for you.
Shirley: Loved the jokes. Those were some good ones...
Lara: Hang in there and remember, "One meal at a time"
Tina: That will be nice to pay off those credit cards. So much pressure will be lifted off!
Crystle: Don't worry about all the goodies that you won't get to eat. Make your own goodies like I did so there will be something for you to have for dessert! Hope you found the perfect tree!
Suzanne: Thanks for the "why the scale lies" It does put it all in perspective, doesn't it? I never ate beets so I don't miss them, therefore that's one thing I don't miss. Eventhough they might have a high GI, at least it's healthy for you and not a bag of chips !!
Sonya: Sorry to hear that you fell off the wagon after having your baby Ashley. Just keep posting everyday and you will get lots of support here. The moment you make the change and the moment you begin to exercise, will be the moment you feel better! Don't fret about it, just do it!! We are all here for you...:)
Fillise: How was your regular massage? Did you enjoy it? Now you're getting the foot massage. That's awesome!!
Melf: Look forward to meeting you in Orlando!!
Hi to Gracious and anyone else I missed! I copy and save as I go along in case the computer goes down. When I hit the submit button, it says I have used too many smilies, so I had to delete some of my images. Go figure!! LOL! Hope everyone has a great Monday!!!!

ZANNE: OMG! I didn't mean put the pita chips in the freezer!!!!!!! The unused pitas yes, but when made into chips! When I make up the whole pkg of pitas into chips, I put them in ziplock bags and they keep for ages and ages! I'd cheat on beets too. I love them.
MONET: WATCH IT! It will be so easy to want to over-do now that the holidays are here.
COUNTRY: The Starbucks here says they don't make sugar free, but there is a Pallidium's (I don't know if it is a franchize) and they make SF Cappucchino. I don't know the big deal of not making SF. My SIL owns a Beanery (A franchize) and they do SF. You can always get a Cappuchino and add sweetener.
LDBLOND: Good MM.
GRACIOUS: I hate to do alterations or repairs! Would rather start from scratch and create something. Of course, I don't do the sewing I used to.
MUSIC: I used to do the sewing to save money too. Now there are so many soecial size stores it's cheaper to buy. Used to make our curtains and drapes for the same reason. Deer not a favorite of mine. I come from where it was practically un- american not to hunt, we didn't. But people always feel they have to share their catch with you to prove to you how good it is. No matter how it's prepared by myself or gourmets I still don't care for venison. Same for bear and fowl. Now there's nothing like feresh caught fish, even the cleaning is worth it.
Here's an MM:
ONE.
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO.
Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their
conversational skills will be as important as any other.
THREE.
Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
FOUR.
When you say, "I love you", mean it.
FIVE.
When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
SIX.
Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
SEVEN.
Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT.
Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who
don't have dreams don't have much.
NINE.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt
but it's the only way to live life completely.
TEN.
In disagreements, fight fairly. Please No name calling.
ELEVEN.
Don't judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE.
Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN.
When someone asks you a question you don't want
to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
FOURTEEN.
Remember that great love and great
achievements involve great risk.
FIFTEEN.
Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
SIXTEEN.
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
SEVENTEEN.
Remember the three R's:
Respect for self;
Respect for others;
Responsibility for all your actions.
EIGHTEEN.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
NINETEEN.
When you realize you've made a mistake,
take immediate steps to correct it.
TWENTY.
Smile when picking up the phone.
The caller will hear it in your voice.
TWENTY ONE.
Spend some time alone.
A second one:
TIME GETS BETTER WITH AGE
I learned that I like my teacher because she cries when we sing "Silent Night".
Age 5
I learned that our dog doesn't want to eat my broccoli either.
Age 7
I learned that when I wave to people in the country, they stop what they are doing and wave back.
Age 9
I learned that just when I get my room the way I like it, Mom makes me clean it up again.
Age 12
I learned that if you want to cheer yourself up, you should try cheering someone else up.
Age 14
I learned that although it's hard to admit it, I'm secretly glad my parents are strict with me.
Age 15
I learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice.
Age 24
I learned that brushing my child's hair is one of life's great pleasures.
Age 26
I learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers have followed me there.
Age 29
I learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.
Age 30
I learned that there are people who love you dearly but just don't know how to show it.
Age 42
I learned that you can make some one's day by simply sending them a little note.
Age 44
I learned that children and grandparents are natural allies.
Age 47
I learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.
Age 48
I learned that singing "Amazing Grace" can lift my spirits for hours.
Age 49
I learned that motel mattresses are better on the side away from the phone.
Age 50
I learned that you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.
Age 51
I learned that keeping a vegetable garden is worth a medicine cabinet full of pills.
Age 52
I learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you miss them terribly after they die.
Age 53
I learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.
Age 58
I learned that if you want to do something positive for your children, work to improve your marriage.
Age 61
I learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
Age 62
I learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands. _You need to be able to throw something back.
Age 64
I learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. _But if you focus on your family, the needs of others, your work, meeting new people, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
Age 65
I learned that whenever I decide something with kindness, I usually make the right decision.
Age 66
I learned that everyone can use a prayer.
Age 72
I learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
Age 82
I learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. _People love that human touch-holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
Age 90
I learned that I still have a lot to learn.
Age 92
I learned that you should pass this on to someone you care about. _Sometimes they just need a little something to make them smile.

This mom is taking a break. Clothes are done..dishes washed and 6 dozen peanut butter cholate chip cookies later I am ready to chill. We eat early so I have about an hour before I have to start dinner. Thought I would say a quick hi! And go play with my graphics.
Sef and Jack-K....loved all the MM stuff. I've read the Thanksgiving one before but I think it should be read again. It's worth it.
Denise....good job on making the SF pies. You sound so excited and motivated. I'm gonna just soak some of the up..okay? :)
Well off to play....

HiedieHo All!!
Some one asked me my version of the 50's here's two:
"Hey Dad," My Son asked the other day, "what was your favorite fast food when you were growing up?"
"We didn't have fast food when I was growing up."
"C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?" "We ate at home," I explained.
"My Mom cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we all sat down together at the table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I had to sit there until I did like it."
By this time, my Son was laughing so hard I was afraid He was going to
suffer some serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to get my Father's permission to leave the table.
Here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I had figured his system could handle it.
My parents never: wore Levi's, set foot on a golf course, traveled out
of the country, flew in a plane or had a credit card. In their later years they had something called a "revolving charge card" but they never actually used it. It was only good at Sears-Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears and Roebuck. Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore.
My parents never drove me to soccer practice. This was because soccer back then was just for the girls.
We actually did walk to school. By the time you were in the 6th grade it
was not cool to ride the bus unless you lived more than 4 or 5 miles from the school, even when it was raining or there was ice or snow on the ground.
Outdoor sports consisted of stickball, snowball fights, building forts,
making snowmen and sliding down hills on a piece of cardboard. No skate boards, roller blades or trail bikes.
We didn't have a television in our house until I was 12. It was, of course,
black and white, but you could buy a piece of special colored plastic to
cover the screen. The top third was blue, like the sky, and the bottom
third was green, like grass. The middle third was red. It was perfect for
programs that had scenes of fire trucks riding across someone's lawn on a sunny day.
I was 13 before I tasted my first pizza. It was a Sam's Pizza at the East
end of Fruit Street in Milford. My friend, Steve took me there to try what
he called "tomato pie." When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth
and the cheese slid off, swung down and plastered itself against my chin. It's still the best pizza I ever had.
Pizzas were not delivered to your house back then, but the milk was. I
looked forward to winter because the cream in the milk was on top of the bottle and it would freeze and push the cap off (I know you southern gals can't relate!). Of course, us kids would get up first to get the milk and eat the frozen cream before our mother could catch us. She wanted to cut it off and use it for whipping cream!
I never had a telephone in my room. Actually the only phone in the house was in the hallway and it was on a party line. Before you could make a call, you had to listen in to make sure someone else wasn't already using the line. (There was always some busybody that listen listen to your conversation, you had to be careful of what you said!) If
the line was not in use an Operator would come on and ask "number
please" and you would give her the number you wanted to call. The numbers back then were only two or three digits. Later there was a word prefix such as Pennsylvania Station 5000 (You probably wondered where that song phrase came from).
There was no such thing as a computer or a hand held calculator. We were required to memorize the "times tables." Believe it or not, we were tested each week on our ability to perform mathematics with nothing but a pencil and paper. We took a spelling test every day. There was no such thing as a "social promotion." If you flunked a class, you repeated that grade the following year. Nobody was concerned about your "self esteem." We had to actually do something praiseworthy before we were praised. We learned that you had to earn respect.
All newspapers were delivered by boys and most all boys delivered
newspapers. I delivered the "Milford Daily News" six days a week. It cost seven cents a paper, of which I got to keep 2 cents. On Saturday, I had to collect the 42 cents from my customers. My favorite customers were the ones who gave me 50 cents and told me to keep the change. My least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day.
Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut on screen. Touching someone else's tongue with yours was called French kissing and they just didn't do that in the movies back then. I had no idea what they did in French movies. French movies were considered dirty and we weren't allowed to see them.
You never saw the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers or anyone else actually kill someone. The heroes back then would just shoot the gun out of the bad guy's hand. There was no blood and violence.
When you were sick, the Doctor actually came to your house. No, I am not making this up.
Drugs were something you purchased at a pharmacy in order to cure an illness.
If we dared to "sass" our parents, or any other grown-up, we immediately> found out what soap tasted like. For more serious infractions, we learned about something called a "this hurts me more than it hurts you." I never did quite understand that one....
In those days, parents were expected to discipline their kids. There was
no interference from the government. "Social Services" or "Family Services" had not been invented (the ninth and tenth amendments to the constitution were still observed in those days.)
I must be getting old because I find myself reflecting back more and
more and thinking I liked it a lot better back then.
If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want
to share some of these memories with your kids or grandchildren. Just don't blame me if they wet themselves laughing. Growing up today sure ain't what it used to be like in my day.
Or:
If you lived as a child in the 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's.
Looking back it's hard to believe we have lived as long as we have...
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint. We had no
childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors, or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes,
we had no helmets. (Not to mention hitchhiking to town as a young kid!)
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable.
We played dodgeball and sometimes the ball would really hurt. We got cut and broke bones and broke teeth, and there were no law suits from these accidents.
They were accidents. No one was to blame, but us. Remember accidents?
We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.
We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank sugar soda but we were never overweight...we were always outside playing. We shared grape soda with four friends, from one bottle and no one died from this.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, video games at all, 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, Personal Computers, Internet chat rooms ... we had friends. We went outside and found them. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rung the bell or just walked in and talked to them. Imagine such a thing. Without asking a parent! By ourselves! Out there in the cold cruel world! Without a guardian.
How did we do it?
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live
inside us forever.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't, had to learn to deal with disappointment..... Some students weren't as smart as others so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade.....Horrors. Tests were not adjusted for any reason.
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. No one to hide behind. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of, they actually sided with the law! Imagine that!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years has been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
We had the luck to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good.
I remember most of these! Does that mean I'm getting OLD? I sent copies to my GD.

Uh-oh--my trip tomorrow is in jeopardy. The back is worse I can barely move--and the pain in constant. I traded the foot reflexology for a half hour of soft tissue massage--painful, but it seems to have helped a little. Getting in and out of the car is most painful--however and I shudder to think what will happen after 8+ hours riding in the car. They may be serving me Thanksgiving dinner from behing the steering wheel.
I took some pain medication--then uneathed some Celebrex I got when my neck was acting up. I'm switching to that tonight because it is an anti-inflamatory--and I can take it and drive. But I'm resdgning myself to the fact that I may not be alble to leave until Wednesday.
Sorry this is all about me--but I'm feeling frustrated and had to vent! Thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

Morning everbody (yes, I actually started this earlier, but you see now what time it is. That's just how my day has gone.)
Just a quick post, things are crazy today at work. One thing after another. Today is my son Seth's 11th birthday. Went to a local indoor ice skating rink for his party. Spent a little more than I normally do, but oh, so worth it. Sent the invitations (that they provide) and showed up. They did everything else! The kids had a blast too. We're taking him to dinner tonight with my mother.
My mom is moving into a brand new retirement apartment on Friday. Now, will someone please explain to me why we planned this move on the biggest UT football game of the year, when the dreaded Texas A&M Aggies come to town! What was I thinking! Have to get the tv moved first thing.
Saturday was my measure day at Curves. I lost 5 3/4 inches in a month. Yippee!
Gotta run now. I'll try to post more tomorrow.

Off to head home. Bumming a ride with a co-worker. Car dealer thinks the car was flooded (good thing as far as money but if that is all it is, I may kill her). :s:
Don't feel like cooking after all my running. May make DH take me out for some baked fish. ;)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but did you realized Christmas is 1 month from today. :yikes: :fr:
Melf, I bet you are enjoying your DD and kids living with you. But I'm sure they want to get back to normal. Hope they make it by Christmas.
GloryIbe, Have a great dinner and don't let your mom pout too much. Yes we all have a lot to be Thankful for.
Denise, sounds like you had a great day with Deb & Eli. Hey she is the :queen: of shopping. Those pies sound soo good. Kudos for you for trying them. That's the way to do this. You have to experiment, cook a little more and just be prepared. You are doing great.
Country, I hope you are not sampling those cc cookies! :cookie: :cbg:
Thunder, welcome back. How's that beautiful baby girl???
Have a great night.

Well... DH's family had their Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday and I did SO WELL!!!! I made a completely legal lasagna, and of course Deb's Cheesecake (which I lost the recipe to and had to get it from our fearless leader with only hours to spare! THANKS DEB!!!) Well... lemme tell you they were BOTH a HIT! Nobody could tell the difference. The cheesecake was gone in a matter of minutes, I only got a tiny piece. That's ok though... I have one cooling right now  Anyway, the only other thing I had was some salad. And Unsweet Tea with Sweet 'n Low... cause I didn't feel like having water :)
I'M SO PROUD OF ME !!!!!
Anyway. Thursday I have to work, so my family is getting together Saturday, and I am determined to stay legal then too!!
I don't think I have had anything illegal for a few days now. WOW, and I didn't even think about it :) I think it's easier when I don't try so hard.
ZANNE - And I thought I was weird for cheating with POP TARTS. I have NO problem staying away from Beets ;) When I'm in a HIGH FAT mood... I can eat a whole jar of marinated artichoke hearts though... but I think they're legal... Just waaaaay fatty.
DEB - Thanks again for coming to my rescue with that recipe. I printed it out, AND saved the email..LOL. Hopefully I can keep up with it now. I swear it wasn't on the recipe boards... how weird is that.
Well... I'm still sick as a dog. My throat is so sore and swollen it feels like someone has their hands around it. The guys (officers) keep making fun of me because I sound so scratchy on the radio. I think they keep calling in things for me to run just so they can make fun of my voice!! Meanies!! :) Then they call me on the phone and say... "hey you sound like crap" yeah... DUH.
Well.. I'm off to find something for dinner so I can take my meds. They make me sick at my tummy if I take them without food!!
I'll see ya'll tomorrow.... We're going to Nashville tomorrow afternoon and staying in the Opryland Hotel tomorrow nite. We're going to see the Rockettes... so I won't be back on until probably Wednesday night. Just warning you so you don't think I fell back under the wagon :) LOL!!
See Y'all Later!!!

Good morning everyone.
Well, it's cold and rainy here this morning, supposed to be that way on and off all week. Yuk. And we're trying to move my mother on Friday. Hopefully, it will clear up a little by then.
We went to a Mexican restaurant last night and I fell completely off the wagon: 2 margaritas, too many chips, and 3 chicken flautas. Back on track today, though. I think I'm making taco soup tonight for dinner. If I'd been smart, I'd have put it in the crock pot this morning, but it cooks up pretty quickly so it should be alright. I never put the tortillas in until I serve it and I'll just skip them. Speaking of soup, has anyone tried making chicken and dumplings with whole wheat flour? Is there a whole wheat baking mix that's legal? I know the Bisquick brand uses enriched wheat flour so that's out, but has anyone found one at a HFS?
Guess I better get to work. I sent Seth to school half sick today and I have a feeling he's not going to make it all day. Talk to you guys later.

Still trying to decide if I am going to get in the car and drive for 8 hours today. I really want to get on the road, but I suspect I might be better off giving it one more day. The heating pad and ice packs have been my best friends.
Trish--mexican restaurants are bad for me too--those chips and then those Margaritas--I just have to stay away as much as possible!
Thunder--It's good to hear from you! A lot of us have been struggling with staying on track--so you are not alone! Hang in there--we'll keep you company.
Beth--congrats on getting through your first Thanksgiving! Enjoy Nashville--I hear the Opryland hotel is just gorgeous at Christmas!
SEF--thanks for the positive thoughts--yes I LOVE my heaing pad. I'm thinking og going to the drug store and getting some heat patches for the car.
Jack-K--OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! There is no time between Christmas and THanksgiving this year! I'd better get busy if I'm going to finish that stupid stocking!!!!!!!
OK--I'm going to go put some things in the car and see how my back does. I'll make the decision to go or to stay in the next few minutes.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:
Surely didn't feel like exercising this morning. Was able to sleep til 5am today and then fall in and out of consciousness from there on, but still awoke tired. Still not 100% over this cold either, which doesn't help matters much. I knew I didn't have it in me to jog but instead of staying in I managed to go out and at least walk th 4.5 miles. Was slow as a snail, :snail: taking me 1hr 57 seconds to do it, but at least I went.
Found out ELI is off today, well, sort of. He had to do a coffee presentation this morning but he said it shouldn't last long so when he gets home we're out the door. Hoping to take in a movie today, hopefully I can keep my eyes open come afternoon!
Was soo happy yesterday, FINALLY found my SB LEGAL PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE!!! I'm making it to take on Thursday, along with the cranberry sauce and sourdough stuffing, possibly the cheesecake as well-all SB LEGAL!:D
Eating continues to be 100% and it makes me feel so good. Thought I'd post my menu for yesterday-I swear, anyone who would ever think of saying we don't eat well on this WOE should have their head examined!
3.1 oz prickly pear
1/2oz roasted chestnuts
5.6oz raspberries
1sl sf bread
3oz chicken breast
.3oz lf mayo
1/2oz onion/celery
3.1oz prickly pear
2 1/2oz chickpeas
9oz raw zucchini
1/2oz grated parm cheese
3oz sf spgti sauce
.3oz bread
1/2oz avocado
4.9oz raw salmon
.2oz pine nuts
4oz cottage cheese
3oz salad mix
1/2oz dressing
1/2oz shredded parm. cheese
3.5oz prickly pear
8oz Stewarts sf soda
Total for the day:
Calories 1215 (little lower than I'd like)
44 grams fat
115 grams carbs
97.5 grams protein
31.5 grams fiber
450mg calcium (low for me)
TUESDAY TIP As I've mentioned in the past, when you watch your starchy carbs, keep in mind that a starchy carb serving is equal to about 15 grams of carbs and 80 calories. Yesterday I learned something new when it comes to what a serving of fruit would be. For fruits it too is also 15 grams of carbs, but with 60 calories (some sites say 10-15grams of carbs on fruit, so 15 would be max). So with this info I can see that in the past I've really gone overboard at times with fruits and serving sizes, something I can keep a better eye on should I find myself not losing, could be the culprit.
Well, I better get going with some replies before I find myself having to go in the shower and have only talked about piddly stuff...
MONET, I hope you are feeling better every day. I know how crappy I'm feeling and I sure didn't have mono! Don't try to do too much before you should, you don't need any kind of a relapse!
FILLISE, I hope you have a good trip and a good TG. I hope you find some relief for your back, sounds painful. Hope Miss Belle behaves herself and doesn't give you too much trouble. OMG, you HAVE to tell me about foot reflexology , have you ever had it done? I've wanted to get that done for such a long time. I love my feet being massaged more than anything and find it just as good as sex, if not better-you know, it depends;) I do hope you can find a way to come to DW in Jan but would definitely hope you could stay until Sunday, just a day-we may have to keep you there against your will, not long enough!!!! LMK if you can!
ZANNE, I don't know about walking at 4:30am, though I've thought about it, down my way I'm sure to get killed! If we walked together they'd just be getting a 2-4-1 deal on the both of us. Up your way, I don't think I'd have any trouble sleeping, well, at least getting out of bed-I'd be too cold to get out from under the covers, for sure! When we went to Montreal in Oct. one time it was hard enough for me to sit on the cold toilet seat without yelping!!!
COUNTRY, okay, please explain to this city girl what the heck backstrap and milk gravy are-or do I really want to know? Unfortunately I forgot my camera the other day, but you can be well assured I will be taking it in January to get everyone's mug shots! Hmm, something legal at SB, well, I know they have SF vanilla so they can make something with that. Forgo the whipped cream. I'll have to ask ELI for some suggestions, though the partners at the store you went to should of known what they could serve you. I get a tall non-fat one shot one sweet & low latte when I get something from there. Not a coffee lover, but ELI'S trying to convert me slowly.
LDBLOND, thanks for your MM contribution! What did the Dr. say?
GRACIOUS, just a quick hello! Trust me, if you were having TG dinner cooked by me, that hungry feeling would be thrown out the window!
MUSIC, enjoy that chocolate pie, have a small piece and then forget about it til next year!
MELF, it was great talking to you as well! Can't wait to see what you were able to come up with for the trip down. You said you had your ticket, so I didn't look further-or should I???
GLORY, don't let your Mother's pouting get to you, if you don't want to eat something DON'T! I won't let my GM get to me anymore and boy, it feels great not to give a darn about what she thinks like I use to. YOU have to make you happy first!
JACKK, seems you have lots of problems with your DSL line, or is the norm. I don't have DSL so I don't know much about it. I agree with you, TG dinner is very easy to stay on track if you want to. Sorry I missed finding you at home, but do know I'll try another day-I just was calling to say "howdy!" Oh, don't get so stressed that Xmas is just around the corner...Hanukah starts Friday!!!!!! Let me stress first!
DENISE, you are so kind to say those nice things about me and ELI, though don't think that for one minute that you arse can't be put in the DETOX DUNGEON if needed:s: Seriously though, again, I had a nice time and know we will be getting together again soon. Hmmm, those coffee beans, SB doesn't carry flavored coffee beans as far as I know, are you sure they were SB's? If so, I'll have to ask the COFFEE MAN here at home. You'll have to let me know how your pies came out and what those who ate the SF cherry cheesecake thought of it.
SEF, loved those "life lessons" you posted. What's on your agenda for the TG holiday?
TRISH, any news on the possibility of coming down? LMK! Cool beans on your measuring at Curves-how are you liking it there? Good luck with your DM's move on Friday-get that TV hooked up for sure! I know I have a recipe for dumplings using ww flour-e-mail me and remind me to find it for you, otherwise I'll def. forget!
BETH, sounds like you are doing great! Glad I was able to help you get the cheesecake recipe in the nick of time. I haven't found one person, whether on SB or not that doesn't love it, glad it was a hit! Keep up the great work of staying OP, see you can do it!!!:D Hope you're feeling better and get over whatever you have soon!
THUNDER, glad to see you're feeling better being on track. As far as I know, pomegrantes are legal. I like them too, just such a pain to eat sometimes. I've been in to cactus/prickly pears lately. I'll update your e-mail, thanks for letting me know!
MAZDA, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign4.jpg Glad you've decided to join not only us, but in following a great WOE! Don't worry about exercising at this point, more important you feel better first. There are many people on the board who've switched from Atkins to SB and find it a much easier WOE to follow, not to mention healthier. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all more than eager to help answer them best we can. Look forward to getting to know you better!! Once again, WELCOME!
Okay, I really have to go get in the shower. Will catch up with you all later.

Good Morning!
I did ok yesterday at breakfast and dinner..and lunch too. It was the popcorn during the movie I watched with my daughter that was not quite ok. Other than that, I had a good day. A lot better than my daughter, but we won't go into that.
Today, I have a migraine. (so does my daughter, which is part of her bad day yesterday) It is not too bad right now, so I hope it gets better instead of worse. I did not get the chance to rest as much as I would have liked yesterday either. I am feeling well enough to do some things around here, and I feel so badly for my poor husband who gets really frazzled and can't handle much out of the ordinary. My car battery died yesterday, so he had to charge it up so the car would start. He had to skip his workout for that, and he did not feel well. I felt sorry for him so I fixed dinner and went to the store last night. I am going to try and relax and rest today. I may go get a haircut though, since I am tired of my hair. It is very long and straight- like more than halfway down my back. I am thinking of getting it cut to shoulder length and having bangs cut. I think that will be more suited to my face shape. Not sure what I want though.
I am going to try Deb's cheesecake this afternoon. Anyone got a recipe for apple pie made with agave? I am planning on making a SB legal pecan pie if I can find the recipe. I know I have it, just not sure where it is!
I will be back later!

I finally got on the board. I had trouble till this morning. So I'm way behind. Wish someone would post the pecan pie recipe made with agave. I would love it. I can't seem to get back on the treadmill. I just don't want to and know I should. Hopefully soon I'll give it a whirl. Its cold here in Missouri but where we are we haven't any snow. Wish that we wouldn't have much this year. Or wait till Jan. Hope everyone is having a good week....

Place stuffing into the same oven as the turkey and cook for between 30 and 45 minutes.NOTES: This can be used inside of the bird. If you do stuff, make sure the interior of the turkey reaches at least 165 to 170 degrees and remove the stuffing immediately from the cooked bird, otherwise you may

1/2 bell pepper (any color), cut into thin strips
4 La Tortilla Factory tortillas (any flavor)
1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet. Sprinkle turkey cutlets with taco seasoning; cook 2 minutes per side or just until cooked through. Transfer turkey to a cutting board and cut into strips.
2. Add sour cream, onion, and cilantro to skillet. Cook 1 minute, stirring, until heated through. Return turkey strips and juices to skillet.
3. To crisp each tortilla, place 1 teaspoon oil in a medium skillet and heat until very hot. Fry tortillas 1 minute per side. Fill each with ¼ of the filling. Top with ¼ of the pepper strips and 1 tablespoon salsa.

Mashed Notatoes
1 head cauliflower -- trimmed, washed and cut into chunks
3 tablespoons Butter
3 tablespoons cream -- or sour cream
Salt and pepper -- to taste
Steam the cauliflower till well-cooked. Add 2-3 tbsp. of butter and mash. If you like it a little chunky, use a potato-masher or mixer. If you like it very smooth, use a stem/wand-type mixer. Add cream, a tbsp. at a time, till desired consistency. Salt and pepper to taste.
OR try....
Twice-baked not-potato casserole
Add grated cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon (optional), a beaten egg or some sour cream, and put in a casserole dish. You can top with more grated cheese.
Broil till top is browned.
WW stuffing:
1 loaf SG WW bread, cubed
1/3 cup margarine or butter
1 large onion, diced
1 medium bunch of celery, diced
2 teaspoons sage
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
2 cans chicken broth
1 egg
Melt butter, add celery, onions, 1 can of broth and spices. Cook until celery and onions are tender.
In a large bowl, pour onion/celery mix over teh bread cubes. Stir well, adding more chicken broth until you get a mixture that is "sticky". You may have to add more broth, a little at at ime. I usually mix this with my VERY CLEAN hands. Add salt and pepper now to taste before the next step. Also, add more sage if you like more.
Add: 1 raw egg and mix well.
Put in greased oven baking dish and bake at 350 degrees until done... 30 to 45 minutes. You could stuff your turkey with this if you wish.
You could add other ingredients that you are use to having in your stuffing if you wish, ie. mushrooms.
1) preheat oven to 400 degrees F
2) Butter a large, shallow, ovenproof gratin dish or casserole, no more than 2 inches high. The larger surface area yields more crust.
3) wash and peel the potatoes and place whole into cold water with a vitamin C tablet added, until ready to proceed with recipe. The vitamin C (ascorbic acid) will keep the potatoes from oxidizing.
4) meanwhile, combine the garlic, whole milk, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring just to a boil and quickly remove from heat. Keep warm.
5) Dry the potatoes well and slice them into 1/8 inch rounds using a mandoline. Place the potato slices into the buttered gratin dish evenly without breaking them. Only the top layer needs to be arranged in a cirle around the dish. Salt and pepper each layer. Pour the seasoned cream over the top of the potatoes and shake the dish gently to allow the cream to flow between potato layers.
6) Top with additional dots of butter, if desired. Place the dish into the oven. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees F and bake the potatoes for 1 hour until the top has browned and the cream is bubbling.
7) remove the gratin from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Whole Wheat Biscuits presented by Sweet Biscuit Inn
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 Tbsp sugar
2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and lightly spray oil on a baking sheet. Mix all the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Stir with a fork. Cut in the butter with the pastry blender until butter pieces are smaller than pea sized. Combine the sour cream and milk and pour into the center of the dry ingredients. Stir with a fork to mix. Do not over blend, it should be sticky, not dry. Add more milk if too dry. Turn the dough out onto a white floured surface and knead for a few strokes only. Pat the dough into a
thickness of 1/2 inch. Cut biscuits and reform scraps to cut again, trying to not overwork the dough with much more flour. Bake for 15 minutes or until light brown on top. Serve warm.

Main Biscuit Recipe
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cup milk or half milk and half water
Makes about 14 biscuits
Whole Wheat or Graham Biscuit
Take one cup whole wheat or graham flour and one cup white flour, one tablespoon granulated or brown sugar and proceed exactly as in the main recipe, baking about 14 minutes. All whole wheat or graham flour can be used if desired.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt: add shortening and mix in thoroughly with steel fork. Add liquid slowly to make soft dough. Roll or pat out with hands on floured board to about one-half inch in thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter, first dipped in flour. Place on slightly greased pan and bake in hot oven at 475 degrees F. ten to twelve (10-12) minutes. If a shorter biscuit is desired, use three to four tablespoons shortening.
Dough can be baked immediately or covered and set aside in a cool place for several hours before baking. If kept in refrigerator, allow to stand at room temperature for a few minutes before baking.

FILLING:
1. Combine cream cheese, 2/3 of total sugar substitute and vanilla,
mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended.
2. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one is added.
Reserve 1 cup of batter. Add remaining sugar substitute, pumpkin
and spices to remaining batter; mix well.
3. Spoon pumpkin and cream cheese batters alternately over
crust; cut through batters with kinfe several times for marble
effect.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Chill and serve.
TOPPING:
1 cup pecans
1 cup Splenda
1/2 stick margarine, melted
1/3 cup SGWW pastry flour
Mix sweet potatoes, Splenda, eggs, butter, vanilla and milk. Place in a greased casserole dish (2 qts.). Mix topping ingredients and spread over potato mixture. Pat lightly. Bake 35 minutes at 350 deg.
Sweet Potato Pecan Balls
1 medium sweet potato, scrubbed
2 Tbsp whipped butter
8 pecan halves, chopped
1 or 2 packets artificial sweetener or fructose
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Salt to taste
Preheat the broiler.
Wrap the potato in a paper towel and microwave at full power for 4 to 5 minutes, until soft to the touch. Slice open, remove the pulp with a spoon, and put it into a bowl. While still hot, mix in the butter.
Add the pecans, artificial sweetener or fructose, and cinnamon.
Mix thoroughly and form the mixture into 8 balls about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Position about 4 inches from the heat source, and broil until somewhat crusty, 2 to 3 minutes. Turn the balls over, and broil for about 2 minutes
more to brown the other side. Sprinkle with salt and serve.
Serves 2 to 4.
Note: Also try these as a side dish with roast turkey. Sweet potatoes are extremely nutritious, containing well over the recommended daily allowance of beta-carotene. Whipped butter contains 30 percent less saturated fat than an equivalent amount of regular butter.

Whole-Grain Rolls
2-3/4 C stone-ground whole-wheat flour
1 tsp salt
1 packet quick-rise yeast
1/3 C olive oil
3/4 C plus 2 Tbsp water
Combine the flour, salt, and yeast in a food processor. Turn the machine on and process for 1 minute to blend. With the machine running, add the olive oil through the feed tube, then slowly add water just until a dough ball forms. (You may not need to use the full amount.) Continue to process for 30 seconds more to knead.
Transfer the dough ball to a large, lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and form each into a ball. Place about 2 inches apart on a nonstick baking sheet. Cover loosely and set aside for about 45 minutes, until doubled.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Brush the top of each roll with olive oil and bake until browned and crusty, about 20 minutes.

Hi too All:
It's a cool and crisp day here, almost seems like Oct. weather. Leaves are falling and the Sun is shinning. This is not typacal NW weather. and the weather man says no rain in site.
I don't know how acurate your weather man is but ours has been on a lucky streak.
Deb: I don't know if you remember from when I was on the board way back when  we had shared how My Mom and your GM were cut out of the same mold. I'd like to get to the place where you are, Where it doesn't bother me, But I don't seem to be able to she really knows how to push my buttons.
I know I shared with you that this summer My DD was molested by a creep, Well what I didn't share with you was that when I was a young teenager about 13 I was also Molested my a man that I babysat for, I had told my mom and she told me to keep it a secret, cause she said that the wife would leave the husband and Dad would kill him and go to jail. Needless to say I had to continue to Babysit for the couple for another yr after that. I would run out the back door when he came in the front or vise versea. Anyway now that this has Happened to DD I reminded her of this and how she never supported me, Now she has memery loss  (I think Not!) Anyway we finally have a court Date for my DD it's Dec 6th. I'm going to be there for her all the way. I guess what I'm getting at is it's in my make up to be a people pleaser, even to my own detrament. Always looking for approveal. anyway that's enough of that. I hope you don't mind my sharing, I've just been so bummed today that I had to chew someones ear off. Sorry:(
Jack-K: I will do my best to not let Mom get to me, But if you just read my post to Deb you will see that she has alot of pull of me and that I'm about as stressed as I can get right now, So I just go with the flow, rather that argue.
Well all I'm so sorry you had to put up with that, I'll try to keep up beat after this, Thanks for the shoulder. Love Glory

(This is the recipe that I used the other night for my pumpkin pies and it came out delicious-better than any pumpkin pie I've ever eaten. My daughter, Amber could not tell the difference! The look, consistency, everything came out great!--Denise
SPICY PUMPKIN PECAN PIES
2 Unbaked 9" Pie Shells (See pecan crust below)
1 Tsp melted butter
1 Cup shelled pecans (I only sprinkled these on top)
1 Can Pumpkin (Libby 1 lb - 13 oz.) (3-1/2 cups)
1 Cup Powdered Coffee Creamer (Nature's SF Creamer)
6 Eggs
1-1/2 Cups Brown Sugar Twin
1/2 Cup Agave Syrup
1 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Nutmeg
1/4 Tsp Ginger
1/4 Tsp Ground Cloves
2 Cups Boiling water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Brush bottoms of pie shells with melted butter. Reserve 1/2 cup of pecan halves for top garnish on pies. Chop remaining 1/2 cup of pecans; sprinkle over bottoms of pie shells.
In large bowl combine pumpkin, creamer, eggs, brown sugar, karo syrup, salt and spices.Beat with rotary beater until well blended. Blend in water, mix well. Pour into the two pie shells.
Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Garnish top with reserved pecan halves, forming a circle on the pies about 1-1/2 inches in from the rim. Cool before slicing. Each pie makes 6 servings.
This is the pie crust I used for the spicy pumpkin pie recipe above and it worked just fine and is also awesome-Denise
Pecan Pie Crust
2 cups of ground pecan halves
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon of salt
(I would add a little Splenda)
* Grind nuts.
* Mix with butter or margarine and salt.
* Spread in the bottom of a pie pan or spring form pan. * Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Serving Suggestions: This is a great crust for a cheesecake or other pie. It adds a great flavor. Save some pecan halves to decorate the top of your pie or cheese cake.
PUMPKIN PANCAKES
1 C SGWW flour
2 or 3 packets Splenda
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cloves
2 eggs
1 tsp cooking oil (I used canola)
1/2 C Libby's Pure Pumpkin (canned)
1/2 C+ Evaporated Skim milk
Combine dry ingredients-set aside. Beat eggs in medium bowl, add oil and pumpkin. Mix. Add dry ingredients. Mix. Start with 1/2 Cup evaporated milk and add more until desired consistency is reached. I sprayed a non-stick griddle with Pam. Makes about 6 4" pancakes.
Cool Whip Recipe
1/2 cup skim evaporated milk
1 tsp. unflavored gelatin
2 tbs.. water
1/4 cup instant dry milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 pkg. Sweet 'N Low {or Splenda}
Combine dry milk & evaporated milk in a saucepan. Simmer until well mixed. Mix together gelatin & water until gelatin is softened.
Add to milk mixture & simmer until gelatin is dissolved. Refrigerate until mixture begins to thicken.
Beat with mixer until thick & creamy. Will keep in refrigerator for several days.
Personally I don't use Cool Whip as I can't seem to find anything on the ingredient list that I recognize as real food. I try to stay away from processed foods if I can.
I use real whipped cream. Leah's directions are fab! I add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the cream along with the Splenda. Gives it a richer taste. If I am using it to top Pumpkin Pie I add a pinch of cinnamon to the cream. You can also add a bit of dry cocoa powder (Droste is my fav) and make Chocolate Whipped Cream.
(This is Debbie's Famous recipe if anyone doesn't already have it and has been living under a rock! LOL)
DEBS CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE
2 packages Philadelphia Brand 1/3 Less Fat Cream Cheese
1/2 cup agave syrup (see NOTES below)
3 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp lemon juice
Spray a 7" cake pan with cooking spray. Cut a circular piece of parchment paper to fit in the bottom of the pan. Spray the top of the paper.
Bring cream cheese to room temperature in a medium size bowl. Cream with a mixer. Add the agave syrup and mix on low speed, just til blended. Add both the vanilla and lemon juice and blend in. Add one egg at a time, beating on low stpeed til mixed in before adding the next one.
Pour mixture into pan and put in a 325 degree preheated oven. Place a pan somewhat larger than the pan the cheesecake is in on the bottom rack with enough water so not to evaporate during the baking time (amount of water varies depending on the size of your pan). Place cheesecake on rack right above pan
and bake cheesecake for approx 40 minutes, or until lightly browned on top and it looks set. Remove from oven and let cool for about 30-45 minutes. Place in fridge for at least 3 hours. I invert my cake over a plate and tap the bottom of the pan with a knife to get it to come out, nice and clean. Peel off the parchment paper and then turn it back the right way on a serving dish. You can also serve it right out of the pan, just don't eat the parchment paper!!!
ENJOY!
Debbie's Notes: You could most likely use a small springform pan, like a 7 1/2" one if they have that size, but I don't have one at this time, so used what I had available, a small cake pan. I used a 1/2 cup agave, less 1tbl, but I'm sure you can use the entire 1/2 cup of agave without trouble, just make sure you don't use any more than a 1/2 cup. Since making this numerous times, I've
started using only a 1/3 cup of agave and it's just as good, if not better!
This has been a major hit ever since I posted it, you won't be disappointed, and if you are, something's majorly wrong with you!!!
Pumpkin Cake
2 cups Splenda (48 carbs)
2 cups soy flour (64 carbs)
1- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 can pumpkin (40 carbs, minus 16 fiber = 24 carbs)
Total carbs=136 grams (about 8.5 grams per slice)
Combine and mix all ingredients, and pour into one or two loaf pans or a tube cake pan. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour (1 hour was a bit too long when I did it the first time) at 350 degrees.
This is a DROP COOKIE from my new (but actually an old) book, RODALE'S SENSATIONAL DESSERTS
(Okay, this Swedish Applie pie I made the other night and came out awesome!-it's best eaten warm so it's great to heat up slices in the microwave and maybe add a scoop of SF vanilla icecream on top.
YUMMMM)--Denise
Swedish Apple Pie
Filling:
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. Splenda
sliced apples
Toss together and spoon into pie dish.
Batter:
3/4 c. melted butter
1 c. Splenda
1 c. ww pastry flour
1 egg
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Mix together. Pour over apples and spread around.
Bake at 350 for about 20 min. or till done.
Authors notes:I realize fruit is supposed to be eaten alone, but the amount of ww flour is so small compared to the amount of apples, I felt comfortable with the combination.

HiedieHo All!!
Let's have dusted, the bathroom's next. Will vacuum tomorrow. Family arrives sometime Wednesday. Want to chop and dice some things tomorrow in preparation for mixing up foods tomorrow. Are you all doing the same type of things? Tis the season!
Alaso have to go to the post office and Hobby Lobby. Don't like that store in particular but it's the only show in town.
BETH: You deserve a big HOORAH! If you don't tell people what they are eating they seldom know the difference between our "diet" food and the "normal" food. Hope you are feeling better so you can really enjoy your trip to Nashville.
THUNDER: You are doing so well. I'm ashamed to say I tripped over a loaf of SB Multigrain bread! I shouldn't have bought it. I don't usually buuy SB products as the price is automatically a dollar more, but that bread is sooooo good.
TRISH: At one point there was a recipe for WW homemade baking mix that you could maeasure out lioke Bisquick. I know I have it in my files. Will check it out for you.
FILLISE: Know you are anxious to have your trip, but what good woulod it be to not be able to enjoy getting or being there. Give yourself another day. Good thoughts for you continue.
DEB: Hope you will begin to feel better soon. You really worry me. DIL's parents and one brother are coming Wednesday - Sunday. Are having traditional dinner only I am the cook and will make as much legal as I can! Waldorf salad, dressing, gravy etc.
MONET: Headache may be from stress of over doing. THAT'S A NO-NO!!!!!! I make the apple pie and pumpkin with Splenda instead of agave.
TONI: Pecan pie for me is too sweet. Why not regular reecipe substituting agave for Karo. That's what I would do.
LDBLOND: Frazzled requires some TLC, something we don't give ourselves often enough. Strain plays a big part and you certainly have plenty of that. Good thoughts going your way for doctor results.
DENISE: My printer is hot!!!!! LOL! Thanks for the recipes.
Southwest Airlines has some good deals on flights to Florida areas, depending on place of departure, etc. They are the specials for this month.
If you are able to get Blue Bunny ice cream, they have a Helath Smart FF Creme Bar NSA. Sugars are only 2g, calories 70. They are sooo good! No fat, no cholesterol. Sodium 35mg, carbs 18g, protein 2g. An occasional treat would be okay in MHO.
Well, this isn't getting anything done is it? I like doing this more than copping, dicing, cleaning etc.!

Just now getting this post done. Started early and the board was slow and now it is full of posts.
It is snowing here. Supposed to get 1-2". DD is driving in from college today. So now I can worry until she gets here.
DD car was just flooded. At least it didn't cost anything. Just took up my whole day and night fooling with it.
Nothing else going on with me. I did get my tree up last nite. Now if just some elf would come in and put the lights on it I would be happy.
Fillise, How horrible about your back. I Hope the Celebrex helps and you don't have to prolong your trip. Feel better.
Trish, Those parties ut of the house are wonderful. Let those kids make a mess somewhere else. Wow 5 3/4" is fabulous. Keep up the good work. Trish I think I have a recipe for legal Bisquick. If you want it I will look for it.
Sef, Yes we do run like crazy and gripe, but everything comes together eventually. The older I get the more of a hassle it becomes.
Beth, You go girl! Way to go on staying OP through that dinner. You can do it again Saturday too, I just know it. Hope your throat is better. I'm jealous of you going to the Opryland Hotel. It is so beautiful this time of year. We went last year and they had all the lights on testing them so we got to see it all lit up. How beautiful. I always want to stay there, just can't afford it. Have fun.
Thunder, I bet you little girl is a beauty. I can't wait to see pics. You are doing great. I'm glad you came back. You know this works and what a better place to get support. WTG on another OP day. :cb:
Deb, I didn't feel like getting out to walk last night either, but DH made me go. Of course I was glad I did when I finished. He is a good one to have around sometimes. Keeps me in line. Have a great day with Eli. Sounds like you are well prepared for TG dinner. WTG. Man TG one day and Hanukah the next, I would be stressing.
Monet, hope your migraine is better. Those can be killers. Those pies sound yummy. Bake one for me will you? I bet your haircut would look cute shaped around your face. I am always scared to try something different. When I get mine cut I still fix it the same old way. I need the bald look.
Toni, I know how you feel about the exercising. Too much going on this time of year. Last night I was running around doing things and totally forgot to workout. I have never done that before. Maybe wait until things settle down.
Idblond, Maybe you could get one of those voice activated computers. I don't think they are much. I hate that you aren't feeling any better. Good thoughts coming your way. Yes, we have lots to be thankful for.
Denise, Thanks for all the recipes. I copies a lot of them. Just wish I had the time to try some.
Glory, How terrible for you and your DD. I am glad you are supporting her. I think it is wrong to coverit up. But those days were different. Sending prayers for you and your DD especially on 12-6. You can vent here anytime. That's what friends are for.
Have a great day! Later

Well, I posted the rest of the holiday recipes and pies that I could find. I figured you all were looking for something to make. There is a WW biscuit and pecan pie recipe in there so I hope it helps you all out. I taste tested the pumpkin and apple pies last night along with my daughter Amber and they were awesome! Eating like this is so cool! Why ever eat sugar again? There is no need to that with these recipes!
I've started working out in the morning now before work so that I can have more time in the evening to get things done. It's hard to get up and do it, but at least I get it done first thing and then don't have to worry about it later. I think also, that I will be more consistent on my exercise schedule. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill alternately 3 min run and 3 min walk.
Debbie: It wasn't SB coffee. At Publix they have flavored grounds of coffee made from Star Bucks, Folgers, and another brand. I was just wondering what kind of natural and artificial sweeteners they use to flavor coffee grounds. My pies came out fantastic and I'm serving the pumpkin today at the company holiday party. Amber is going to eat the SF Cherry Swirl Cheesecake we bought at Whole Foods so she will let me know how it tastes...Can you post the sour dough stuffing recipe? Also, good going on getting up and doing your workout anyway eventhough you didn't feel like it!:strong:
Thunderwoman: Good going on staying on track! Can you post the Chicken and Dumpling recipe?
Glory: Sorry to hear about your daughter and what happened to you many years ago.:( I can relate as it happened to my daughter when she was only 3 yrs old and the guy got off because the judge could not swear a 3 yr old on the stand to testify! She doesn't remember it now but it made me so mad that I wanted to kill him myself! :bomb: Anyway after reading your post it brought back a lot of pain for me. I don't think that we ever fully recover from stuff like that. Anyhow, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope your daughter can begin the healing process soon.
Beth: Congratulations on staying legal through your Thanksgiving dinners so far! Isn't it easy with all these awesome recipes? Especially Deb's Crustless Cheesecake!!
Hope your sore throat goes away soon!
Crystle: Hope you're enjoying your break from motherhood!;) It can definitely take a toll on us.
Shirley: Thanks for all the cool jokes. I especially liked the ones about "back then". It's so true.
Toni: I know how you feel about working out. It's hard to get back into the swing of things. The first workout is the hardest and then you will look forward to it.
Susan: I hope your back starts feeling better so that you can go on your road trip. Try to alternate hot and cold every 15 minutes.
Trish: Aren't those pre-planned skating parties the best? They do everything for you and all you have to do is relax. I used to that stuff for Amber when she was younger. I hope Seth had a GREAT birthday! I posted something similar to your WW baking mix. I'll keep looking. Mexican food is my favorite food. I know it can be challenging. Congratulations on losing almost 6" in one month!!:cp:
Monet: I posted an apple pie recipe. It's a bit different then the traditional apple pie, but it tastes just awesome coming warm out of the microwave...The batter actually goes on top of the sliced apples. Good luck on your new haircut! :crossed:
Jackie: Sorry to hear about your car. I hope it's something minor. I loved your Thanksgiving message. And yes, I do like to cook now and experiment with different recipes. I never cooked ever before unless it came out of a box or can so this is all new to me, but very exciting and rewarding.
Hope everyone has a Great Tuesday!

I went and got my hair cut this morning. It was long enough for the stylist to cut off 12 inches to donate to Locks of Love for cancer patients. That alone made it worth cutting. Now my hair is only about shoulder length. It is going to take some time to get used to it. I started growing it out from a chin length bob about 2 years ago, so it grows fast, but it feels weird this short now! I am going to grow it out again, and once it is long enough, donate another 12 inches.
DENISE: Thanks for posting all those good recipes! Especially for the pecan pie one! I know I have it, but I had my harddrive reformatted and it will be in backup on my hubby's computer...and like finding a needle in a haystack! You saved me a lot of time!
SEF: So you just sub agave for karo syrup in the pecan pie and it works ok? I may have to try that. My hubby loves pecan pie best of all...and I love to keep him happy! ;) You may be right about the headache, but I am thinking it is more hormones..
GLORY: You vent all you want, you hear? Thats what we are here for..to support one another. You certainly have something to vent about. Good for you in supporting your daughter. I hope it all works out well, and with as little stress to her as possible.
DEB: Take lots of vitamin C, and I hope you get better fast! Where is the legal pumpkin pie recipe? Did you post it for us? :)
Ok..head still aches and I am feeling lightheaded- due to lack of hair! Off for lunch!

Hi y'all. Just a quickie right now. I have students in the room.:o For those of you who have a treadmill....Do you have one that is manual or with a motor. The one that is manual is soooo much cheaper. I wondered what y'all thought about them.

GOOD AFTERNOON
Just wanted to let you all know that this was weigh in day for me and I lost 4.4 lbs this week!
In a large bowl mix together all the dry ingredients. With a pastry knife, cut in the shortening until evenly distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal in texture. Put in an airtight container.
Label and store in a cool dry place.
Here is a biscuit recipe that I like:
Never Fail Rolled Biscuits
3 cups Quick Mix
2/3 cup milk or water
Preheat oven to 450. Combine Quick Mix and milk in a medium
bowl. Blend well and let sit for 5 minutes. On a lightly
floured(SGWW) board, knead dough about 15 times. Roll out to
1/2-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass.
Place about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to
12 min until golden brown. Makes about 12 biscuits.

Monet, I posted the pumpkin pie recipe that I made and what a hit it was today at my company party. The diabetics ate my pie and I had a piece. Actually, I think my pumpkin pie was better then any sugared pumpkin pie I have eaten before.
Tina, I own a treadmill. What I did was post an ad in the paper "Wanted" Used treadmill and I got it for about $200 bucks used. It was worth it. It's pretty manual although it does have a motor of some kind. The belt does move on it's own. I couldn't imagine a treadmill without the belt moving on it's own.
Bob: Congratulations!!!!! You're going to be skinny by the time I meet you in January.:bravo:
Okay, I've been playing enough. Got to get back to work!

Here's another Bisquick recipe I found:
Homemade Bisquick
8 cups SGWW Flour
1/3 Cup baking powder
4 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup Splenda
2 Cups Powdered Milk
2 Cups shortening or margarine.
Mix dry ingredients we.Cut in shortening until texture of cornmeal. Store in
airtight container in refrigerator or freezer
Oniginally posted on sweetalkplus.com to use in chicken and dumplings

Just checking in, Getting ready to head home. Have a roast in the crock pot and some green beans cooked. DD brought a friend home from college and she has to take him to the airport so he can go home for TG, so guess I better feed him first.:D
Hope to just veg out in front of the fire tonite and watch UK in the Maui classic (hopefully win). Got to get my workout and walk in first though. Will have to hurry.
It is still snowing here, but no accumulation (thank goodness)
Denise, It is better to workout in the morning. Then it is overwith. I was doing that and now have switched to the evenings and I have trouble fitting it in. I need to go back to it but boy is it cold out there in the mornings. I may have to wait until Spring. I would love to sample your pies. Send me a piece. How awful for your DD. I'm glad she doesn't remember it. It amazes me that actually happens to people. Those men should be castrated.:fr: I can't get any work done for copying all yur recipes.
Monet, I bet your haircut is adorable. Let's see some pics. How neat that you can donate it for cancer patients. Very worthwhile and rewarding. Does your DH like it short?
Bob, Woo Hoo! You are doing awesome. Keep up the good work. BTW, UK @ UT Saturday. Go CATS!!!!!!! My DD is actually going to the game. Remember her fiance is an orange fan :yikes:
Good luck to all for WIW.
Have a great night. Will try to make it to chat. Not sure.

No Jackie, I don't think I will ever get over french fries either!!
Sounds very cold where you are. We are getting another so called "cold front" on Thanksgiving. It's supposed to be in the 70's during the day and 50's at night and it's supposed to be very windy which will make it cooler.
Debbie: I don't know if I will be able to make chat tonight. I'm going to Goodwill to look for some jeans that may actually fit me. All of my jeans are either too big or too small right now. I also need a coat for this weekend since we are going up to River Ranch. Pls don't be mad with me!!!

MUSIC: Let me get on my soapbox and share what I found when researching treadmills. I have a Hebb, which was pretty expensive. I have read that it is better to have one with a motor that will keep you going at a consistent speed, then a non motorized one, that does not. You get a better workout with one with a motor. I got on a few exercise forums before I bought mine asked questions and read everything I could find. A number of people had gotten the Hebb like mine and were pleased. You want one that you can control the speed, and incline on. Mine goes from 0-10mph. The incline has ten settings as well, so you can vary the amount of effort you put into the workout. If you can afford one with a motor, get that. It keeps you going at that pace, where a non motorized one does not. Something about the settings on mine brings out the competitive spirit in me, and I have to try harder to go farther, and burn more calories than I did the time before. It is effective! :)
JACK: Not sure if my hair looks good or not. I will reserve judgement until my too honest husband gets home. He can't lie to me, so I will be able to tell when he sees it if it looks good or not! ;)
DENISE: I saw that apple recipe, and I was thinking it sounded good! I will try it! I have the cheesecake....Deb's famous recipe ...in the fridge...I was thinking of forgetting dinner and eating cheesecake instead! haha!
BOB: You are doing awesome! Pack some of that success up and email it to me! I feel like I am in a rut...

Hi everyone, Miss you all - been very busy at work because of the mortgage rates still being good, we are very swamped at the office; I don't even get much of a chance to wave hello to Serene now that she is working in the office as well.... I have been sick with some nasty virus and it wants to linger on as well.... I come home, head hurts, sinuses, and I just do what I have to and go to bed....not very exciting. I have gone off and on program since I got sick causing me to gain some weight, along with TOM is back...
So, back to the scales tomorrow even if TOM is here! UGH!!! Planning my SB Legal Holiday - and it is going to be LEGAL....I have bought plenty of Agave to sweeten recipes...
Sorry that I cannot respond to anyone, but I have to get DS to his guitar lessons. (Whisper) You know he is going to be very famous some day! ;)

Wow, I just had a piece of Deb's famous cheesecake. I am NOT going to be making it very often, cause I think I could eat the whole thing! Just how big a piece is one serving? I was thinking the whole thing was just four servings right? :s:
JACK: The haircut must be ok. My husband came in and it was obvious he liked it. He is so cute about things like that...he just can't lie. He will try to be diplomatic, but I can see right through him!
TRANQUIL: I am sorry you have been sick! I can relate! Take care of yourself, and get lots of rest. And take vitamin C and drink plenty of fluids. ( I know..I know...I sound like a mother or a doctor or something. I think I would have loved to be a doctor except for the part where you learn about colonoscopies, and the chemistry classes.)
I am going to go and read. Anything to get my mind off the cheesecake that is left in the fridge.... and did you all know it is exceptionally delicious with a dollop of Polaner All fruit on the top?

Happy WIW
Glad this is our "friday" off the rest of the week.
Hope the scale is good to everyone today. I am happy to report that I am back to my all time low of 163. I thought it was a new low but I looked at my journal and on 10-30 I weighed 163. I will take it and move on down from here. That makes a total of 94 lbs gone. Hopefully never to return.
Tranquil, Hope you are feeling better. Nothing worse than being sick on turkey day. I hate that you are so busy at work, we really miss your posts and Serene's too. Get back on here as much as you can, it will keep you on track. It's frustrating to get on that scale and see a number you thought was long gone. Even more reason to stay legal. It's just no fun losing that same weight twice. I think the last 2 weeks of "rel-losing" has given me some renewed motivation to keep it totally legal.
Denise, I'll take your cold anyday over mine.
Heartmom, Have a wonderful TG. You have alot to be thankful for. Jump back on track on Friday.
Monet, Glad your DH liked your hair. It must be pretty cute. We need to see some pics. Hopefully you don't have to fix dinner tomorrow do you?
I tried to get into chat last nite and didn't have the link. I was thinking there would still be a button there to click on. I see Deb posted the link. I have printed it out and will take it home and put it on my computer.
Off to get a little work done, no one feels like working today. Have to go with DD to the gyno at lunch. Don't know if she will have to take more lupron shots or not. Guess we will see.
Have a great day and good luck. :lucky:

Good Morning everyone! I am back down the couple pounds I gained last week. I am sure it was due to MC(monthly cycle). Now if I could just get past that, and down a few more! Being a turtle loser is such a pain!
I had cheesecake with Polaner all fruit on top for breakfast. I have made cheesecake with splenda before, but this is the first time with the agave, and the flavor is so much better!
DEB: I got the bracelet. Now I have to pay the lady for all the stuff I got from her. She has some really nice stuff! I had one item I wanted that someone sniped on me in the last five seconds. When I emailed her about something else, I mentioned that, and she sent me a personal ebay offer for the same piece, at MY bid, not the winning bid. I thought that was nice of her. I can't wait to see if the stuff is as nice in person as it looks in her pictures! I did a good bit of my Christmas shopping from her.
JACK: As soon as I get my digital camera back from my daughter, I will try and get a picture of me and my haircut for you. I may have to wait until the blemish on the end of my nose goes away tho....
Well, I have lots to do today, and I want to accomplish it in the least stressful way possible. I am hoping I can convince my 16 year old that it would be loads of fun to make pies.... :s:
I'll be back later!

I weighed in today at 164.4. I'll take it since it is still below my plateau of 165. I usually weigh in on Friday's, but I will be out of town.
Congratulations Jackie on your weight loss. You've lost so much weight that you are truly an inspiration to us all.:cb:
Tanquil: Hope you are feeling better soon. Sorry to hear you were over on the scale. Once you get back on track, you will see it plummet again.
Goodbye to everyone! I am going out of town and will not be near a computer till Monday. Hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving! I am planning on staying 100% legal.
Take care and talk to you all soon.

Well, I don't like WIW's. I'm almost always UP! Today I'm at 170 from 166 yesterday! I'll have to go back and read the article I posted on why the scale lies!:s: I know I ate a lot of salty stuff yesterday, so I'm drinking lots of water today. Plus TOM is due any minute:^:

Okay, here's my DEB'S PUMPKIN PIE recipe:
2 eggs, beaten
1 14oz can pumpkin
3/4 cup agave
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground giner
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
8oz evaporated milk
4oz (1/2 bar) 1/3 less fat cream cheese
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
In a large bowl cream the cream cheese and then add all the other ingredients and mix well. Pour mixture into a prepared pie crust and bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes, then REDUCE heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 35-40 minutes, or until filling is set.
Optional: If you'd like to add a whipped topping use the recipe below:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup agave (or less, to taste)
1/2 tsp ground ginger
In a large bolw combine all ingredients and whip until soft peaks form. Chill 1 hour before serving.
NOTE: I make a wheat germ pie crust with this pie. You can also make this crustless if you wish, just make sure you spray the pan with non-stick cooking spray beforehand for easy release. Watch that your crust doesn't burn!

Hi Everyone,
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am happy to report that I went from 235 to 231...YIPEEEE!:smug: Thats since Sunday...I am way way happy about that. Had to get my post in while the baby is asleep.:goodvibes Everyone have a great and safe holiday!!!!!
I am printing all the great recipes Denise had in her post. Yummy!!!
The dumpling recipe is just one I picked out of my head. I use about 2 cups of flour and a little salt and enough broth to get them to the desired consistancy...and roll them thin. I boil my chicken and use the broth off of it. I also put a little onion in while my chicken while its boiling a little salt and pepper. I use whats left of the broth for the sauce I add Cream of Mushroom soup a little butter can skim no fat evaporated milk and bring to a boil. Pull the chicken off of the bone and cut it into bite size pieces. Throw in pot and add dumplings.....Cook until dumplings are done.
Later Ladies and Gentlemen......Have a great Holiday!!!!! :grouphug:

Hi everyone
It's been three weeks since I have posted, as Debbie reminded me yesterday, but I had planned to drop in to-day to wish you all a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. .
Nothing has changed here, I keep gaining and losing the same couple of pounds. That's the main reason I haven't been posting. It's the same old thing that's been happening for over a year now. I was hoping to be off for a while then be able to come back and report a loss but it hasn't happened yet. Anyway I haven't given up. I'm still staying op most of the time although I did have one really bad day last week but I got back on track the following day. I'm trying to keep off the scales. If only I could keep off for one whole week and stay 100% op, who knows a miracle might happen. I guess I am too impatient and have to get back on the metal monster after a few days then when the news isn't good I get ticked off. Anyway enough of that rambling.
Jack-K - Congrats on your loss this week. It must feel good to be back to your all time low and 94 pounds total is awesome. I am sure if you stick to this woe you will never see those pounds again. WTG.
Monet - Glad to see you are down again too. Being a turtle loser is much better than not losing at all. Take it any way you can get it. Hope you are feeling better but please don't start overdoing things too soon.
Denise - Congrats on staying below your plateau. It sure beats gaining. Hope you enjoy your weekend away.
Zanne - That must be water weight that you have gained if you had lots of salty food yesterday. Also TOM doesn't help. I am sure those extra pounds will be off again in a few days.
GloryIBe - Good to see you back onboard again.
Fillise - Hope you were able to get away for your holiday and your back is getting better. It's sure no fun driving with a sore back.
Thunderwoman62 - Congrats on your loss this week .
Greetings to everyone I have missed. I know there are lots of you. Take care everyone and have a great weekend.

Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
I was going to not go exercise today. There was a warm body in bed asking me to return to join it but I was torn between it being such a gorgeous day and knowing it would benefit me to go out, or staying in and doing gosh knows what:s: So I opted for the one that I was going to benefit from the most (I think) and went for my 4.5 miles. Was better timing than I thought 50:47, not too bad.
I did get on the scale today and I'm at the same weight I've been for a few days, 130. Not complaining at all and know this will go down soon, or at least I hope. CONGRATS to all of you who lost this week and to those who stayed the same or had a temporary gain, stick with it, you know the drill!!!!
I have to make a small mention about using Splenda in your recipes. PLEASE be careful that you don't eat a lot of foods made with this. You have to remember, this is made with MALTODEXTRIN which is extremely high on the GI. If DENISE doesn't mind, I'd like to disect this part of the PECAN PIE RECIPE she posted that uses 2/3 cup Splenda which is equivalent to 32 teaspoons. I am taking it that one would use the SPLENDA GRANULAR since this is used in place of sugar, measure for measure. If so, this would give you 64 calories and 16 grams of carbs and 192mg of Sucralose. Now, if someone wanted to use Splenda and only had the packets, each packet is only a half teaspoon of product yet, has the sweetness of twice of what the granular has. I just want you to keep this in mind. Even though the box on the Splenda packets say 0 calories, there are actually 4 calories in each packet and 1 gram of carb. The reason it says 0 calories is because with USDA Standards, a company is able to say 0 calories if it's less than 5 calories, which of course, 4 is. But just think about it, you are getting 64 more calories than you thought AND another 16 grams of carbs, not to mention quite a bit of maltodextrin. This, for some people may cause a reaction like I've had in the past with seeing the scale go up with taking in too much maltodextrin. Thought, I can't imagine anyone eating a whole pie as I have almost done in the past, but do keep this in mind. Be careful when deciding what to make as far as treats go, it may not be well worth it at all and if you do, remember PORTION CONTROL!!!
TONI, I think if you are like me and only do one exercise (me walking, you walking on the TM), it gets to be old hat and many people have told me to vary my exercise due to not wanting to go out some days, but for me, I just like doing anything else, or if I did, like thought I've thought about getting a rebounder, I just don't want another piece of equipment in the house, let alone that I just can't afford it either. I guess on days like this, when we don't want to go maybe it's not such a bad thing to skip a day-it's when we skip it again and again and again that we should worry:)
LDBLOND, I hope with all the tests that they are doing they can come to a conclusion and a treatment that will help you. Your attitude will get you through trying times and yes, you and the rest of us do have lots to be thankful for:)
DENISE, thanks or posting all those recipes, but SWEET POTATO GRATIN with garlic? Ick! Just doesn't sound like a good combo to me in a SP DISH. The PECAN PIE recipe I'd nix though. That's a lot of Splenda, hence a lot of maltodextrin along with the agave, a slice of that may really give you a huge GI rating! Sorry to burst a bubble. I know at Publix you can buy the different coffees, but I know you shouldn't grind flavored beans with unflavored, as the unflavored would pick up the taste of flavored. I'm not sure natural and unnatural flavorings are used in making flavore beans or if adds any additional calories or carbs, though I'd think it may. I'll see what i may be able to find on the web about it. The sourdough stuffind recipe is on the board, I'll dig it out and e-mail it to you. I'm drying the SD bread as I type this out!
GLORY, yes, I do remember your DM & my GM being of the same mold, you poor soul! It took me most of my life time to not give a damn about what she says. I can relate to how you've tried to please others and yet not pleasing yourself, or being happy about things you've done to please others. I think if you grew up as a heavy child as I did I did things for acceptance I look back at now and wish I hadn't done. As I've told you in the past with you Mom, you can't please people like this, and why even try. I was able to make this break after going to the therapist on other issues, but this was found to be a big issue. Now I just plain don't care what she thinks or says about me, but now that she can't complain about MY weight she's started in with my DD Lauren and THAT I do care about and won't let her pick up with where she left off with me. It's her loss, not mine! I hope you can come to terms with things and not let her get to you like this. Once she's gone there will be a lot of bitterment towards her and it will be hard for you, better to deal with it now and take the reigns in your own hands and stop this crap once and for all. Now, I will get off my soapbox! Good luck with your daughter, I'm sure it won't be an easy thing to go through.
SEF, I'm with you today on getting prepared with the food, but not the cleaning. Me worry you! Come on, that's my line to you, no stealing:D
JACKK, you can tell DH WTG for me and for getting you out there. ELI does tell me to go out some of the times I don't care to go. I wish he'd go walk with me sometimes though. I know it would only be a leisurely walk but I'd really like it. He can't be bothered though. On the FF issue, I've never been a big FF lover at all, but when they had Rally's, now those I'd eat and love, Checkers are okay, but again, I wouldn't go out of my way for them.
TRANQUIL, sorry you're still not feeling well, hope this shakes off of you soon, I know the feeling, I'm still not feeling 100%. Enjoy your TG with Wendy tomorrow, know that my thoughts are with you! How'd Zach like his guitar lesson?
MONET, I bet you look mahvelous with your new haircut! I think that is so wonderful of you to send your locks to Locks of Love, someone so deserving will be so thankful for your generosity. So, I take it you liked the cheesecake??? I actually do have a breakdown somewhere of the nutritional values, will have to see if I can dig it out. I get 8 pieces out of it. I can eat all 8 too!
MUSIC, I had a treadmill long ago and got rid of it. Make sure if you are going to buy one you really do do your homework and not let it end up being used as a clothes hanger. They're a dime a dozen down here at garage sales, all types and kinds, people just buy them and don't use them and they can take up a lot of space as well.
BOB, WTG! CONGRATS on another great loss this week! How many are you at now?
THUNDER, CONGRATS, that's a great loss this week!!!
ROSALIE, got your e-mail though haven't had time to reply, but sure glad to see your posting on the board again-were you afraid I'd fly up there with my traveling DD???
TONI, enjoy your day with the family, and congrats on your loss this week!
To all I didn't reply to individually, I send you a big HELLO!
Well, I must get busy in the kitchen, have to get cooking! I will check back later tonight.
I hope those of you who won't be getting on the board tomorrow, I hope you all HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

Here's one more pie recipe
SWEET POTATO PIE
2 large sweet potatoes cook and mashed
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup agave
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Mix mashed sweet potatoes with eggs, milk, agave, vanilla and ntumet. Pour into a 9" pie pan that's been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray and bake at 250 for one hour or until a knife comes out clean when inserted into the center. This does NOT call for a pie crust:D

To all my margarita buddies, I just ordered 2 bottles of SF mix from Baja Bob.com. You can check the site for local dealers. But now Deb has spoiled it with all the info on Splenda:( . Oh well, maybe a better alternative.
Robin, Glad to see those 2 lbs were short timers. Keep on going.
Monet, Glad those 2lbs are gone. Now we just have to keep moving down. THe cheesecake is definately better with the agave. I am making one tomorrow.
Denise, WTG on breaking that plateau. Now you can start on downward. Have a great "legal" Thanksgiving. I will be legal too.
Country, Sorry you are up. What is green rice? Have a great turkey day.
Zanne, that can't be atrue weight. 4 lbs in 1 day? Maybe wha you had for dinner was heavy. That scale really can be a monster. Don't let it affect your mood. Have a great day tomorrow and don't let any indulgences linger more than tomorrow.
Glory, try not to get down, just think of the end result. Good luck tomorrow on WIT. I will keep my :crossed: for you. Don't cave into your mom's pressure too much and if you do, jump back on track Friday.
Thunder, WTG on the 4 lbs. that is great. Rememer, this does work.
Rosalie, Glad to hear from you. I'm sorry you are yo-yoing back and forth. Don't be a stranger.
Toni, Yeah for your loss this week. We are still hanging in there neck and neck. Have a nice visist with your family.
Bob, GO CATS!!!
Deb, Did I read that right? You cooking? OH MY GAWD, get ready Eli & kids. Thanks for the info on the splenda. I guess you really need to think about those things especially when you are not losing. I just ordered some SF margarita mix with splenda. There goes my party.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU.
Have a great dinner and if you indulge, don't let it linger. Jump back on track and you will be fine.

UPDATE ON MY COOKING EFFORTS:D
My cranberry sauce is made and it's delish and SB LEGAL!!!! I've made the wheat germ pie crust and will fill it with my pumpkin pie recipe a bit later, the croutons are dried and the stuffing will be made tomorrow morning so I can take it there hot. My DM made a real cheesecake which makes me think not to make my SF one. Besides, I figure if there's my pumpkin pie AND my cheesecake, I'm going to want to eat them both, better I stick with just the one pie, as I KNOW I will be eating the cheesecake in just over another month anyhow (at our SB GET TOGETHER IN JAN!!!).
Lauren's cookies are getting ready to be made-that will be my ultimate test. I said I wasn't going to have any and I'm hoping to hold true to my word.
JACKK, I'm sure the mix won't have any effects on you because you won't go overboard. I'm sure it's fine in moderation-that's the key:D
Back to the kithen!:chef:

Hi All:
Completely legal today again :) and plan to stay that way - had some sneezing and sinus stuff - but feeling better. At least my ear has cleared up!
JackK - I will be staying on board... missed you too! Interest rates are not expected to really go up until March...so, everyone is locked in right now until March - so that is how long our lives will remain swamped - yuch!
Deb - Zach loved his guitar lessons, I liked the guy myself - he was very calm and easy to understand... He was pretty impressed with my kid - so that is a good sign!
Bob - Happy Thanksgiving!
Toni - Happy Thanksgiving - thank you, I am going to get as much rest as I can this weekend, but I also plan on going to the movies as well - so many good ones out to see....
I know I am missing more people - lots more - and so thanks for well wishes and encouragement - Happy Holidays :)
Happy Chanukkah!!!!!! Zach wants to go see Eight Crazy Nights.... ahhhhhhhh - I like the Chanukkah Song by Adam Sandler, but I am not looking forward to the animated movie....
I have to get busy - I am signed up for making dressing (whole wheat, sausage and apples), scalloped cauliflower, and I bought the smoked turkey this morning on my way into the office....
Ta ta, Sabrina (I turned down carrot cake and coconut cake today - but I did get a speeding ticket on my way home :( $$$$$143!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Here's the SD STUFFING RECIPE that Denise asked me to repost:
Parmesan Sourdough Stuffing
Recipe By : http://www.cdkitchen.com
Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Sensational Sides: Stuffing
Brown garlic, celery, onions, and mushrooms in butter. Add
1/2 c. broth to release brown bits in pan. Mix everything
together except eggs and rest of broth. Whisk eggs and
remaining broth together and pour over bread mixture and
stir until well coated. Stuff bird or bake stuffing in dish
350F degrees 30 minutes covered and 20 minutes uncovered
I made it last year and it was a hit, so making it again this year. Only thing I did differently than above was that I used mushroom broth so Michael (my DS who's a strict lacto-ovo vegetarian) would be able to eat it.
*********************
Here's the CRANBERRY SAUCE RECIPE
1 bag cranberries (I think they were 12oz)
2tbl water (you could use apple juice if you'd like, sf of course)
1/2 cup agave (SEE NOTE BELOW)
1 tsp or grated orange rind
Rinse the cranberries and drain, add the tbl of water with the cranberries in a pot and on medium heat cook them til they start to pop, about 5-8 minutes. Add agave and stir. Cook on low heat for another couple minutes (watch so this doesn't burn). Remove from heat and add grated orange rind. Let cool. It will thicken upon cooling. ENJOY!:D
NOTE: You can start using 1/3 cup agave and add to that if you think it's still too tart.

ALL THESE RECEIPES ARE MAKING ME HUNGRY!!! :D Great sounding recipes there. Will definitely have to copy them into a file. I really want to try some of those. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to share those.
It's late & we've been cleaning house since we got home. DD, SIL & DGS jsut got in from Texas for the rest of the week, so when I say I have a full house, believe me, I HAVE A FULL HOUSE! And I  it!!!! Not cooking. We're all going to my db's house for lunch. Made a congealed carrot salad with pineapple, cream cheese & cool whip. It's always requested during the hoildays. The family loves it. I will try my best NOT to eat any :nono:
Hope all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of family time. I know that I will enjoy my day with my girls. Just my youngest will not be around.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
I just got in from doing my 4.5 miles, yes, I did go, aren't you proud of me:D Took me longer than I thought as I did a bit more jogging than yesterday and I thought it was less time, but took me 51:06, but hey, I'm not complaining!
ELI'S at work and I expect him to come home around 12:30ish so we can head up to WPB for dinner. It takes us about 1:45 minutes to get there, depending on the traffic.
My pumpkin pie looks good except the crust, it's a bit too brown for me-just hope it tastes good. I made the mistake of making it in a glass pan and forgot to turn the oven down 25 degrees, oh well, you all know cooking is NOT my fortay! The cranberry sauce is delishious, even by LAUREN'S standards. Speaking of her, she made her cookies last night and gave me one and I told her "NO THANKS", she said I said I'd have just one but I told her there is no "just one" for me and I wasn't going to have it. Boy, did she try to entice me but I stuck to my word. Hoping that word sticks today as well, darn, they look soooo good! I just have to start the stuffing in a little bit, and that's it. Taking some avocados to get rid of (we have a tree) and taking up some STARBUCKS COFFEE for the family:D
I'm so excited to know that I will be meeting up with so many of you in Janaury and having the chance to not only meet MELF finally, BUT, to have her stay at the DETOX DUNGEON before and after the trip. She's flying in to Ft. Lauderdale Thursday afternoon and driving up with DENISE & I on Friday to Orlando then coming back with us on Sunday and flying out of Ft. Lauderdale on Monday evening!
TRANQUIL, yikes:fr: That sure is a hefty speeding ticket. Are you going to one of those traffic lawyers to see if he can get it thrown out. ELI did that and was successful. Have a good TG Speedy!!!! LOL!!
MELF, enjoy your day with your family! Don't forget to e-mail me all your details as well as any thing you may have in mind!
Okay, I'm outta here for the rest of the day. I have to run get a newspaper and get gas in the car, take a few things out of the car and then start the stuffing and get ready-before I know it it will be time to skiddadle out of here.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

I'M SO EXCITED, WEIGHED TO DAY AND HAVE LOST 5LBS, BOY DID I NEED THAT LIFT.:flow2:
Just a quicky Wanted to thank everyone for there support, You just have no idea how much it helps and, what a difference it makes. I'm strong today. And I do take it one day at a time.:snail: But that's whats working for me.
Denise: I wish I could take credit for the Dumplings recipe but that was Thunder, And I can't wait to try them myself so thanks go to Thunder:)
Deb: I know what you mean about not letting Mom get to me and I'm going to do my best. I have already set down the rules about DD and she knows to keep her opions to herself. and just one look backs her off. As for me, Well if she's picking on me she's leaving someone else alone. No really I tolerate it cause she has run everyone else off. She's more alone than she knows and I feel sorry for her. I guess it's her hobby, Lord only knows why anyone would want a hobby like that.:snooty: Anyway I'm too too happy to let her get to me today.
Were trying an experiment today DD wants to bring a friend that is a guy with us today, lets see if Mom can be on her best. :?:
Well gotta run all please have a happy thanksgiving, Love ya Glory:dance:

WOW! No one's been on the board since this morning???:?: Can't believe it!
Well, I survived another TG day dinner and boy am I proud of myself, stayed OP and didn't falter one bit. My stuffing came out great even though I forgot to get mushrooms, a mere oversight. The cranberry sauce was delish and the pumpkin pie was wonderful, though I had to bring most of it home since my Aunt made 2 others with whipped topping on them, my Mom cheesecake (real one) and Lauren's cookies, not to mention a ton of very interesting looking candy. I wonder, does PP freeze well? I don't want it sitting in the fridge easy for me to eat.
I'm still stuffed and ate a bit too much. My Aunt not only made turkey but also a huge beef tenderloin which was out of this world.
GLORY, CONGRATS, that's a great loss! You should be proud. As for DM, I don't think you need to be anyone's punching bag and you shouldn't put up with that crap!!!
For those who are crazy enough to go out shopping tomorrow, GOOD LUCK!

I made it through Thanksgiving ....but not on program and now I am totally exhausted! Every joint in my body aches. I have been up and cooking all day! I just was not ready to handle all this activity. I hate being weak from all the resting..drives me nuts! I hated to ask the kids to help, since they were all playing a Nintendo game together, and laughing so much, it was a joyous sound to me. They are pretty good, but you know how siblings can be...I was enjoying the lack of bickering. My fabulous husband was right there, though, working away. He made a huge amount of gravy- his specialty- (and there was both beef and turkey gravy!) as well as fixed the pie crust, and did all the more strenuous chores, like lifting, stirring, running to the freezer in the garage, etc. Don't think I could have made it without his help! What a blessing he is!
I ate mashed potatoes, and gravy, a small piece of Yorkshire pudding, tasted a piece of my cornbread dressing, had a slice of jellied cranberry sauce, in addition to green bean casserole, roast beef, and a taste of turkey, then had a small piece of SB legal pumpkin pie. I used Deb's recipe, and it turned out really good. I had a bite of a bourbon pecan pie that my son in law brought from work. The guy who made it at the country club he works at went way overboard on the bourbon, and it was really boozey. It was ok, but I did not care much for it. Much more than a bite, and I might have been weaving my way from the table.
Now that dinner is over, it's time to get back on the straight and narrow and stick to legal stuff. The SB pie was so good, I did not miss the pumpkin cheesecake with caramel topping my son in law made, or his special pumpkin cheesecake pies.
I feel really gorged. I hope by the time it is bedtime, the bloatedness of my belly will be gone so I won't have to try and sleep like this !
Hope everyone else behaved better than I did!

Its me "Speedy" - I was only going 15 miles over the speed limit - they have increased the price of the fines...but I will see if the lawyer can throw it out for me - he might not be able to since he did this for me last year - I have a yearly speeding ticket problem - I confess!!!!!
Thanksgiving was a success - fully legal! It took some planning and thought and work - but between Serene and I, we did it without a hitch! Turkey, scalloped cauliflower, sweet potatoes baked w/apple, and sausage apple stuffing made with the WW bread that I used to make my own bread crumbs for the recipe, brocolli SB legal casserole and for dessert we had Apple Brown Betty from Deb's list of recipes.... It was wonderful and we are very proud of ourselves....now Serene your turn to post about it too!!!!
Hope everyone had a good day and a good meal - I am ready to call it a night so that I can function tomorrow - I am finally feeling much better - antibiotics helped a lot!

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:
Hope you all enjoyed your TG with friends and family!:D For those of you who stayed OP, CONGRATS, for those of you who didn't, today is a new day and one meal/day of indiscretions will NOT cause you harm as long as you are right back on track!
Scale is at 129 today, happy and hopeful that it will continue to go down a few more pounds. I have to find a way to get in some water, I just have no desire to drink and I KNOW I'm dehydrating myself.
I think I'm going to take off from walking today, haven't decided fully yet. Not sure why I'm thinking about doing this, should get dressed and just go!
With today being FRIDAY FUNNIES and the day after TG, I thought this poem was cute to post:
Thanksgiving is over,
All the eating is done.
Will anyone eat more?
At the point of a gun!
The turkey's gone cold,
The gravy is sludge.
And we're all too tired,
From our asses to budge.
But, Ho, what is this?
Something special's in store.
For the malls open early,
Three hours, or more!
In all our excitement,
We passed o're one thing.
All the stores out there waiting,
For their registers to ring.
So, it's off to the mall,
At some ridiculous jour.
Faster yout seatbelts,
And turn on the power.
To Macy's, to Penney's, to Sears,
We will run.
To pick up their specials.
This is supposed to be fun?
And when the day's over,
And our money's been spent.
We won't have a spare nickel,
Till sometime in Lent.
MONET, glad you liked the pumpkin pie recipe I posted, I too like it, a bit too much. I froze half of the pie and still have a large piece in the fridge that I hope my DD will ask to eat, as it seems to be calling my name. I hope you'll rest up a bit today after all you did yesterday, I'm sure you not only deserve it, but need it was well.
TRANQUIL, CONGRATS on you and SERENE staying legal yesterday! Sounds like you had a really delicious TG dinner. I've never even made the recipe that I posted so long ago for the Brown Apple Betty but I know ROSALIE has, numerous times, and loves it. One day I'll try it! Hopefully you'll be able to get that fine taken care of, sure don't need your insurance rate to go up from that, so, that's a yearly event, huh?:s: Where were you going in such a hurry??
I'm not sure what my plans are for the day, no matter what I would probably do, it's bound to be busy out on the streets. Read the ads for all the stores and their sales last night and there's just a couple places I found with things to buy, a thing here and there for Lauren or my nieces, but not worth getting killed out there and braving the crowds in my book. I think I'll try to find stuff needed on line-lots easier and sometimes cheaper as well. I still have to look for a computer though!
I'll check in later - have a great weekend!

Good Morning everyone
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I was up bright and early this morning after having the best nights sleep I have had in a while. So I got some chores done early, washing and vacuuming. I'm aiming to get out by about 10.00 a.m. which is when the stores open. Trying to get my Xmas shopping finished. Then it's off to badminton at 1 p.m. then to work. It'll be the first day that I have worked this week. I've been staying op. I usually have hot cereal for breakfast, and that is the only starchy carbs I have been having all day except for the occaional sweet potato. Just keeping my fingers crossed that I will see some results soon. Ha. Ha.
Melf - Hope you have a good time with your family this week.
GloryIB - That's a great loss for you Glory. I am happy for you.. Hope your Thanksgiving day went off well with not too much flack from dm.
Deb Good for you staying op. It must have been hard resisting Lauren's cookies and all the other goodies. :cp: I love the cranberry sauce made with the agave. It is so easy to make and so delicious. I will never open another can of the stuff. I made it for the first time last year. If I'd known how easy it was to make I would have made it years ago. I never did like the stuff in the can. It even makes a good legal topping for pancakes.
Monet Sounds like you had a wonderful TD even if it wasn't op. It's been a long time since I have had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding. It used to be a favorite in our house. Now with just two of us at home we are lucky to get the roast even without the pudding. :). Make sure you rest up to-day. That shouldn't be hard after the busy day you had yesterday.
Tranquil - Congrats on staying legal. Your menu sounded wonderful. I would be interested to know how you make your broccoli casserole. As Deb said, that Apple Brown Betty is a favorite of mine although haven't made it for a while. Will have to put apples on my shopping list.
Bye for now.

ROSALIE: I have made Yorkshire pudding with whole wheat pastry flour, and it was pretty good. Maybe sometime when you want a special meal, you can try it and see if you like it with the whole wheat! It was my favorite meal as a child too, and I find it hilarious to see the way my kids act when I make it now! My son had the platter on his plate as we were all coming to the table yesterday!

Good Friday Morning to all:)
It's a crisp day here, We are looking forward to doing the christmas shopping today. As tomorrow DH and I are going to a hotel to celebrate our 24th Anniv. and we've never been alone in a hotel room sence our wedding night:dizzy: We going to Red lobster for dinner and then back to the room:censored: It's like planning a wedding night all over again.
Thanksgiving was good, Mom behaved surprise surprise, of course she spent most of it in the bath room showering and dressing while I cooked:?: I even came late on purpose so everything would be done. Well guess it didn't work. As soon as dinner was over she was back in the bathroom doing who knows what. came out in nightgown and robe, after dinner was put away and dinner was over and the dishes were done :s: She did try with the dinner she made a wonderfull sweetpotatoe casserole that was made with Splenda and then used real brown sugar on it. Yuck! man was it sweet. She made us a SF pumpkin pie it was good. I guess we got lucky.
I made salads we could eat, there were no snide remarks made now maybe when christmas eve comes she will remember all the work that goes into doing this and be nice. One can but hope:lol:
Denise: thanks for the good thoughts, I'm right back on track, I love that I had a loss, it was such a surprise to me.
Deb: Not bad as I thought, In fact I think you changed my additude to where it went easier for all of us, thanks, I'm actually looking forward to christmas eve who know maybe we'll get through Dec in peace. I'm praying so.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and if ya didn't don't worry about were back on program and going strong, were all hear for each other. love to all Glory:wave:

Monet - It's been ages since I have even THOUGHT about yorkshire pudding, but now I want some. I think I have a roast in the freezer, maybe I will have it on the weekend with some kale or brussels sprouts. Yum Yum. Thanks for the tip. When you make yours do you make one big one or do you make them in a muffin pan? That is the last way I recall making them.

I just had a piece of Deb's pumpkin pie for 'lunch'. I justified it because it is pumpkin, a vegetable..right? It tastes even better cold! I was so taken with the pie, I ordered a LOT of agave online today.
ROSALIE: I make one big one, in a 9x12 pan. I tried once to make them in a muffin tin, and they did not 'pop up' like I thought they should. It could have been me though! After I make it in the 9x12 pan, I cut it into about 12 pieces. If I was going to make it for just my husband, daughter and me, I would use a smaller pan and make less. I think my recipe actually calls for a 9 inch square pan.
GLORY: I am so glad you got through the holiday and your mom in what sounds like a better fashion then you expected! I snickered about her staying in the bathroom getting dressed while you cooked. Sounds like a few members of MY family! Like my 16 year old daughter and her brother. My son in law, the chef, jumped right in when he got here, garnishing dishes and helping, his wife, my older daughter had helped all afternoon, and my husband and I were slaving away. The 16 yr old and her brother were downstairs playing Nintendo! When I told them they had to clean off the table, I thought they would drop from shock!
COUNTRY: All you have to do is drink a lot of water, and eat really light. Once you get really hungry again, that fat feeling will go away.
DEB: Happy Chanukah to you and yours...

HiedieHo All!!
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice. I made the Eggnog that Denise posted and it was very good. She posted two, I made the one w/o evaporated milk. The only real no-no I had was rutabaga.
MONET: How nice that you were able to donate your hair. I didn't say I had made the Pecan Pie w/ agave. I just said I didn't see why you couldn't.
THUNDER: Ah the differences in life! In PA Dutch you didn't make dumplings you made Bot Pie (Pot Pie). Dumplings are a biscuity dough that is dropped by the spoonful on top of the boiling chicken and broth. My MIL and I used to always have the discussion about dumplings vs pot pie! Good loss!
DEB: PP should freeze very well.
TRANQUIL: ONLY 15 miles over the limit!?!
GLORY: One of my SILs always acted like a quee at a family dinner. When we hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner, she and my Mom sat down afterwards to relax. My DH went into the living room and told everyone, "Shirley did all the preparations and cooking, now she gets to sit down, so move yourselves out to the kitchen and get busy!" They were so shocked they did!
Today is FF:
PREGNANT AND ROBBED
A woman pregnant with triplets was walking down the street, when a
masked robber runs out of a bank and shoots her three times in the
stomach.
Luckily the babies are okay! The surgeon decides to leave the bullets in because it was too risky to operate.. The woman had two healthy girls and a healthy son.
All went fine for 16 years, until one day, one of the daughters burst into her room in tears. "What's wrong?" asks the mother.
"I was taking a pee, and this bullet came out." replied the daughter.
The mother tells her that its okay, and explains to her what happened sixteen years ago.
A week later, the second daughter runs into her room in tears. "Mom, I was taking a pee, and this bullet came out. "Again the mother tells her daughter not to worry and explains what happened sixteen years ago.
A week later, her son came into her room in tears. "Its okay!" says the mom. "I know what happened. . .you were taking a pee, and a bullet came out.
"No." says the boy. "I was playing with myself, and I shot the dog."

A woman renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office.
Asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation, Emily had
hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.
"What I mean is," explained the recorder, "do you have job, or are you
just a .....?"
"Of course I have a job," snapped Emily. "I'm a mother."
"We don't list 'mother' as an occupation...'housewife' covers it,"
said the recorder emphatically.
I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same
situation, this time at our own Town Hall. The Clerk was obviously a
career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high-sounding
title like "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."
"What is your occupation?" she probed.
What made me say it, I do not know. The words simply popped out.
"I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations."
The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair, and looked up as
though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly, emphasizing
the most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.
"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in
your field?"
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself
reply, "I have a continuing program of research (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field (normally I would have said indoors and
out).
I'm working for my Masters (the whole darned family) and already
have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the
most demanding in the humanities (any mother care to disagree)? and I often work 14 hours a day (24 is more like it). But the job is more
challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money."
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.
As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I
was greeted by my lab assistants - ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could
hear our new experimental model (6 months) in the child-development
program, testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt triumphant! I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone
on the official records as someone more distinguished and
indispensable to mankind than "just another mother."
Motherhood...what a glorious career. Especially when there's a title
on the door.
Does this make grandmothers "Senior Research Associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations" and great grandmothers "Executive Senior Research Associates"? I think so!!!
I also think it makes aunts "Associate Research Assistants."
Okay have to go join the family. Kids took today off, GD is off from school and DILs parents are here.
Take care all.

Afternoon Everyone:wave:
Just got home after dropping Michael off at THE PALACE (assisted living facility for the very well off) where he does community service. Lauren and I had about 2 hours to kill before I had to drop her off to work on a group project so I decided to see if I could get in to the computer store, COMPUSA, found a spot right in front and wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Looked at the COMPAQ that I was going to buy a few weeks ago, Mgr. said he's honor the price, then tells me that the price is up, yadda, yadda, yadda and more BS but then tells me he could give it to me for another $81 (plus more tax of course) more. Told him I'd decide and let him know. Then went to see if Circuit City right down the street would be just as easy to get in to, which it was. They had a HP computer on sale that I went to see, not that I know anything at all about computers except how to wipe off the entire hard drive-TWICE, and to get on them. Anyhow, called DM and she met us there, since it's her gift to us and we ended up buying the HP. Actually, there was only a few dollar price difference after they give you a $100 gift card to use later, which my DM used to get a monitor for my DS, so, even though it's not out of the box yet (I'll look for a couple weeks, just to make sure this is what we want), we will have a new computer come the New Year:D
And, then I saw an ad for BEST BUY for the COMPACT FLASH that my digital camera, which hasn't even been out of the box and that I got for Xmas last year, but vow to start using. They had the 128mb cards on sale for $29.99, so I ran back in to CC and asked if they'd honor it, which the guy tells me "YES". THEN I see that they have a $20 rebate! He hesitantly rung up the 3 that I bought seperately so I could get a $20 rebate on each one (limit one per household), so I will end up paying $9.99 plus whatever tax. Considering these are $69.99, I don't think I did too bad:s:
Dropped by the HFS to pick up an item or two, dropped by SB to say "HI" to ELI and then came home. Didn't want to drive around with the computer in the car, there's been too many thefts and theives are looking for goodies in the cars today. May go back out a little later, there's a couple things I need to see if they have at Target. Was not as bad as I thought it would be out there-thankfully so!
ROSALIE, glad to hear you had a good night's sleep last night. Hope I can say that one day soon myself, don't know what's gotten in to me lately that I keep waking up at these ridiculous hours! I'm surprised the stores don't open earlier there, down here stores were opening at 5am, but most at 6am with people waiting in lines to get in a and spend, spend, spend. Hope you had a good shopping day! Yes, it was hard to resist those cookies, but I did:D I can have them another time, just not right now, I really would like to get back in to my cushion area, and besides, I really was okay with eating the PP I made. I too won't bother with canne cranberry sauce again, less than 10 minutes and it's done AND it's eay, not to mention delicious as well!
MONET, THANKS SO MUCH for the e-card, that was so sweet of you to send it!!!:D Okay, so what's Yorkshire pudding. I learned about SPOTTED DICK from ROSALIE one year, now you can explain YP to me! I took your lead and also had a 2oz piece of the pie after lunch-YUMMY!:)
COUNTRY, girl, whine all you want! Remember, us women are proud members of the PISS & MOAN CLUB year round! I think there will be other whiners as well, you can just lead the group;)
GLORY, woooo girl! Sounds like a night of passion is in store tomorrow! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Go enjoy yourselves!!! You deserve it! Glad to hear TG went well at your Mom's. Just stay strong and remember that you and your feelings are #1! If you don't stop this now it will never stop and like my GM has done, is now starting with Lauren, which I won't allow in front of me. She's tried saying things behind her back to my parents and I hear from my DM that my Dad land blasted her. Like I said, it's her loss, not mine! Sad to say, for her, but when she leaves this world, of course, it will be a loss, but I won't feel anything as near as I would if she had treated me with some dignity and respect-again, her loss, not mine!!! See, she's the kind of person who you'd think the last living breath out of her would be about someone's weight! Said, but probably true!
BOB, are you going to be around this weekend, thought I'd give you a buzz if you will, LMK! I don't think I've heard of any of those movies that you've mentioned, are they older ones? My Aunt made eggs and forgot them, went in to town, came back to find eggs all over the ceiling and the house stinking!!!!! Hope SKEETER ran for cover!!! LOL!!
SEF, thanks for posting the FF! I sent two of them off to my DM. Okay, excuse my stupidity and laziness for not looking it up, but is rutabaga a fruit or a veggie? That's one I've never had before!
Okay, well, I'm going to go. I have to p/u Lauren at 4pm, so I may go kill an hour somewhere along the way. Will check in later this evening with you all.

My weight is holding, but I have not been eating 100% SB.
I am holding at 147.
I feel bad posting on here because I can't seem to keep up with you guys. :^: :^: .
I hope you all had a great Thankgiving. I did ok....didn't pig out, but had a few no no's.
I took second place in the gingerbread contest I entered. My son also won second place in his category. He won 50.00, for a 10 year old that is pretty exciting.
Hope you are all doing well, I am going to try to visit more often!

DEB: Yorkshire pudding is made with flour, milk and eggs. The batter is poured into a hot pan with drippings from a roast, then cooked. It puffs up and gets brown and crispy. In the Yorkshire area of England, a pudding was served with a roast. It is best with gravy poured over it. My mother used to fix it for my British grandfather, and it became a family favorite. I can be made with ww pastry flour, so it is can be technically legal. If you ever care to try it, let me know and I will post the recipe. That $29 for a compact flash card is a really great price. I have a 48mg I got for about $30 and THAT was a great deal! You did really well! In fact, it makes me want to run to Best Buy and try and get one for me! For my camera, a 128mg card will hold about 200 pix, so you are set!
BOB: I let eggs boil dry once, and they were awful! ;) You have given me a taste for egg salad now...
SEF: I will try making a pecan pie with agave, and let you know how it turns out. I agree..it ought to work fine! I enjoyed the jokes!
CHRIS: Congrats on winning second place in the gingerbread competition! I haven't made gingerbread houses for years...I may have to do that!

Yes, I am still here. It's really good to see all of you ladies here on the Board. I've been so busy, I haven't even had time to come and read. I did catch up on this week's posts and see some new names. Welcome!
I got Deb's email and knew I was one of those absent from duty. I chatted with Thunder Wednesday morning for a bit before heading to the grocery store to shop for our dinner.
I've been on program all this time. And I did allow myself a few indulgences yesterday. I ate some cornbread dressing and a teeny, tiny slice of chocolate cake. I cooked a turkey, third one in my life! And we had a nice little dinner just before the Cowboys/Redskins kickoff.
I am still losing slowly and am not too discouraged. I had a couple of nights last week in which I consumed some white wine. We started a bunko group at school and had a blast. Drank more than I have in quite a while. Last Saturday I attended the wedding of a former co-worker and had just one glass that evening. But there were more carbs served than I needed. I didn't go overboard, so the scales haven't reacted enough to make me want to throw them out the window.:p
DH is still working in Amarillo and enjoys it tremendously. He likes the laid back, cowboy atmosphere.
The DDs and I are holding down the fort here, busy as ever. This time of year is so hectic that I think I'm having a nervous breakdown by Christmas. Oldest DD is performing in The Nutcracker next weekend and will be busy at rehearsals every night. Younger DD will have a gymnastics skills meet in a couple of weeks so she's working out after school two days a week. And my last class in Monday night YAAAAAYYYYYY!!:D
And next semester I have to take two courses. It'll be interesting to see our schedule. We will meet every Monday night, one class every other week.
Monet: I'm glad to see you are on the mend. Take it easy, though.
LDBlond: I'm thinking about you and hope you get some relief.
Sonya: It was good talking to you. You caught me home because we had the day off for Thanksgiving. The kids were off all week, but we had staff development Monday and Tuesday.
Tina: Are you busy with Christmas shows? Our select ensemble has about 5 programs betweeen now and the holidays. We stay very busy!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the weekend. We did tiny bit of shopping, but not for Christmas, the girls said they needed some sweaters. Pre-Christmas, I guess.
Later, Ladies!!

Wow, the board sure is slow! I guess everyone is out shopping!
I slept until ten this morning, then ate oatmeal for breakfast. I am thinking of trying to get off the Splenda entirely, and see if it makes a difference. I can use agave in my tea. Anyone use it in coffee?
I plan to laze around today, and rest. Tuesday, I go to the doctor for another check up. I imagine it will be the last one for the mono. Next week is the last week I am supposed to be vegging...yay! I have done some Christmas shopping online, but I have so much to do! I am going to plan carefully so I can pace myself. I dread getting a tree and decorating! It is so much fun, until January 2, and time to take it down!
Well, I am going to go veg. I sure hope everyone is doing ok and having fun!

Today is better than yesterday. :) That "fat" feeling came from a horrible tummy bug. Well, part of it..the physical part. The emotional part I think is gonna take some time. I couldn't eat yesterday and have only had a few crackers today..so eating isn't an issue.
Good to see ya Red! You are steadily going down..that is great.
Thanks Deb and Monet for cheering me up yesterday.
Well I need to freeze some leftovers before they go bad. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Wow, it sure is a slow board. I am doing great with my eating although I had a hectic day today. Got up at 7 am to get to the grocery store with 3 kids tagging along. Hubby is away this weekend and I had to go for my main monthly grocery shop. I spent nearly 600 bucks! I am thinking that is because I got some stuff for baking and so on with Christmas coming up. We filled 2 of the large shopping carts and started to work on a third! Thankfully they have parcel pick up. We were there for over 2 hours of *shopping fun* and the kids were pretty good for the most part. However, once home, they were not happy about having to unpack the car and carry it all inside while I was putting it away. Talk about missing hubby at a time like that!
Off to throw the wash in the dryer. Have a good night.

Well I'm here with head hung low.... I'm off to the detox room after I leave here. I just went plain crazy and ate everything in site and have had an awful time getting back to normal. But am doing well today and hope I continue. But boy do I have a major headache and am blameing sugar withdrawals from that dang pecan pie my sis made me.... Anyway I'm back.... Thank you Debilli for the note it really did help...
GloryIBe- I hope you have the greatest anniversery, congradulations....Sounds like you made it through the day with flying colors. Think you handled it well..
Rosalie- Howdy gal. Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one.
Monet- Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving. It sure makes it easier if everyone helps.
Bob- Congrads on the 2 lbs. Hope it stays off cause sounds like you sure did well...
Sef- What a wonderful husband you have. That was so neat of him to tell his family to help. Needed that after Thanksgiving humor so thank you...
jred- Good to see you. Your weight is great, you sure are doing well.
CountryMom- Hope you're feeling better.
Gracious-Wow 600. You were really doing the shopping. Sounds like you're busy busy. I agree its awfully slow here today...
Well guess I'm off to the detox dungeon. Need to get me more water.

Well, shoot. I hit a key and lost my quick post. Be careful hitting "shift" with anything.
We had a beautiful day in NTX today. Sunny, not too cold or windy. The tree is up and DD is putting on the lights. We'll get the outside lights up tomorrow. The street will be really cute this year. Our little cul de sac always decorates for Christmas.
Went to a Cajun restaurant, Razoo's, for DD's 18th BD. It's Monday, but since DH is in Amarillo during the week, we celebrated early. You should have seen the waitress look at me when I told her no rice, just the vegetable. Guess what the veg of the day was? CORN!!!! When another girl brought out the meal I asked if there was another vegetable because I don't eat carbs and she asked if I wanted a potato instead. I said "No, it's a carb, too." And she laughed, and lightly punched me on the arm. I got the waitress to make me a salad. But she put croutons on it! They were easy enough to scrape off, though. It was a scream. They tried really hard to make it okay for me. And DD said most kids don't even know what carbs are. The only reason she knows is because of me. I told her they all needed more nutritional education!
Monet: Where are you ordering Agave online? I found some wild agave at Golden Tropical, but am not sure if the glycemic index is the same as the other.
BTW for anyone interested: I was talking to my mom about Agave nectar and she mentioned that a blight had gotten the cactus in Mexico that produces Agave a couple of years ago and that's why the tequila prices went up so. Maybe that's why we are having trouble getting it. She said they had to grow their own cactus that was resistant to the blight.
Well, it's time to get back to the paper I have to turn in on Monday.
Have a great day tomorrow. DECEMBER 1, 2002. Can you believe it?

I BLEW IT!!!
Tuesday we went to Nashville to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular (and it sure was spectacular!!! we LOVED it!!!!!!!)
We stayed in the Opryland Hotel which is like a city unto itself. There are so many yummy things to eat... so I ate a little of everything. Let's see.... I cheated with....
Biscuit and Gravy, Hashbrown Casserole, the Cone from my sugar free ice cream (heck I don't even KNOW what that was made of), Broccole Rice Casserole, some Tortilla Chips, a few crackers...
All of this was between Tuesday and Today...so it's not that much cheating when you spread it all out. And it wasn't massive amounts. Just a regular size serving of each... but it did BAD BAD BAD things for the scale!! I don't know what I was on WIW, but today I'm up 3 pounds!@#!@#!@# I did NOT want to see 179 again, and I REFUSE to get to 180. Tonight at work it's gonna be WATER to drink, and chef salad!
Tomorrow is the beginning of a new week, and I WILL be OP!!!! I have until Christmas to be down below 175... it's my new goal and I CAN do it!!
Well I hope everyone had a great holiday. I was gone too long to catch up on the posts, so if I've missed anything important... update me! LOL!!
I will say that one thing I'm very thankful for this season is all of YOU! It sure helps to have someone to 'talk' to when the going gets rough!!!
Love Y'all!!

JRED: I ordered agave from St Pat's. They only sell it in 12 pound pails, but I thought it would be worth it. I think the Wild Agave is about the same as the Blue Agave. That is all I have been able to find. I think the agave from St. Pats is blue, but I am not sure.

Hello all!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was great. I did go ahead and leave Tuesday--it was a tough and painful drive--but I decided that I needed a day to rest between travel and Thanksgiving ( I am the cook). Each day the back is a little better so I think the trip home will be fine tomorrow.
Did OK with T-giving eating. The only cheat was the apple pie. I couldn't get me SGWW crust to work--so I finally gave in and used the Pillsbury AllReady pie crust. The filling was sugar free as I used Agave, wwflour, apple pie spice and butter. IT was great! So I'm calling it a minor cheat.
Belle has been traumatized this week. First was the trip in the car--then she spent two solid days hiding from the 7 noisy people in the house. Now that there is just three of us here she is fine. She's going to love getting back into the car tomorrow.
I hope everyone is having a good week. I tried to read the board, but it has been far too busy since Monday. I'll catch up with everyone next week.

(I wrote some of the following last night)
Evening All:wave:
Thought I'd better get on here before you thought I was MIA for the day;)
Went to a bunch of garage sales today, was surprised to see so many out there, most of which weren't advertised in any paper. Not that there was much out there, but of course I did manage to spend a few dollars. Got a great ALL-CLAD fry pan for a buck:D Looks almost brand new.
CHRIS, glad to see you back posting on the board. It's hard for many to get back on track after falling off the wagon, but you'll do it, as many of us have. Coming to the board as often as possible helps, staying away doesn't. Lucky for you you haven't gained, so try to get back on track now before it catches up with you. We've all been through this before and totally understand what your going through as far as the WOE goes. You can do it, we know that but most of all, YOU know that:D
MONET, interesting sounding that Yorkshire pudding! Is it considered a dessert? The compact flash cards I got will only end up costing me $9.99, there's a $20 rebate on each one:D So, maybe you should run to CIRCUIT CITY with the BEST BUY ad and see if they will honor it like I did, then do the rebate.
BOB, called around 7ish, you must be on the phone/computer yacking away. Will try you tomorrow when we are out and about.
GLORY, how was your weekend? Romantic, I hope! Details!!! Well, some details, not all;)
SUNDAY
Hey ALL!
Wasn't able to get on the computer and finish my post from last night, so picking up where I left off!
JRED, glad to see your post! It's good to know you are continuing to do well on plan. Hope to see you more on the board, you know, we always miss you when you go MIA for a whle;) Your DM is correct on the agave and it being so hard to get because of what happened in Mexico.
MONET, I don't use Splenda at all, hate the stuff. I think for many, at least I know for me, I don't think the agave is worth using to sweeten a drink, too expensive and for me I have to use too much. I much prefer the stevia. To comment on your agave statement, St Pats, if they are telling you it's blue, they are lying, you can no longer get any blue abd what they have is going to be wild. There is a difference between the two as far as the GI goes. Blue had a GI of 11 whereas the wild has a GI of 39.
COUNTRY, glad to know you are feeling better, we all get that "fat feeling" sometimes, for one reason or another.
GRACIOUS, I just about passed out where I saw you post that you spent almost $600 dollars on groceries! Is that for an entire month? I sure hope so! I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money, I'd pass out from fright if I saw those kinds of numbers. Lucky for me today we went by an Alberstons and they were tripling coupons, something we never see down here, not even doubling. I got $33 worth of groceries for $13. Wish they did it more often!
TONI, glad to hear you are back on plan. Don't think there's a one of us on the board who haven't been were you are, so we all understand. Too bad we don't remember how crappy we tend to feel when this happens so it deters us from doing it again. I guess it's like having a kid, hurts like all heck but we do it again-as if we like pain!!!! Stay strong, you'll get through it!!!!
BETH, glad you had a good time a Opryland. I'm sure you'll get back on track. I swore I'd never go above 130 and I did, but luckily I caught myself and got back down, and you will too! Stay determined and you'll see your Xmas goal, but IF you don't, don't forget, anything lower than you are now is a Xmas present to yourself in itself!
FILLISE, glad to hear you're back, safe and sound. Sounds like you had a nice time. How's the back feeling now? Like BOB asked, who's the third wheel in the house?
BOB, tried calling you a few times, busy, busy, busy...
Well, I was able to get in my walk//jog this morning, which gave me 5 days this week, not too bad. Took me 50:57 today, not great but not all that bad either.
ELI was off today so we headed up to Broward for a little bit, not long as he had to go in to work this evening.
Scale made me happy today, was a tad under 128, so we'll call it that.
I know I have other stuff to tell you guys, but I plumb out just forgot (senior moment I guess). Oh well!
Will be back tomorrow morning to start the new board, until then, have a great evening!!!

DEBELLI- If you think that YOU almost passed out when you saw the 600 dollar number how do you think I felt?!?! lol It is terrible but groceries here in New Brunswick are much more expensive than they were in Ontario...but I have gotten used to it. When you girls quote some of the prices you pay in the usa here on the board I just about die and think how I would love to be getting bargains like that. However, with the exchange rate, standard of living, medicare and all that I am supposing it all equals out in the end...or at least that is what I am telling myself!
I do one major shopping at the beginning of the month then do weekly stops for milk, fresh produce and stuff that I have forgotten. In the end I probably spend somewhere between 600-800 dollars a month on food. We also have quite a bit of vegetables in storage & the freezer ( potatoes, squash, beans, etc. ) given to us from families in the church from their gardens so that is helpful along with our own garden. My 3 kids are real eaters even though they are only 8,6 and 4. Other people can't believe the amount they eat when they visit or have us over for a meal. Most young kids eat a spoon of this or that but mine devour everything in sight. I lovingly refer to them as the vultures from time to time!! Mind you, they are all thin and very active and I do try to give them good, healthy food.
Enough babbling, I better go.

Oh yeah, I have never seen a store give double, never mind triple coupons!! I would love that cause I use them whenever I can.
