Hi everyone, I got an email notice that Nikki had posted, but when I went clicked onto the site my post from this morning wasn't there either. So I thought it would be easier to start a new thread.

nikki, I bought some Pepper Jack Veggie Tofu cheese at Super Walmart. Is that the cheese you found in your grocery store? I'm going to try it tonight on my Boca Burger.

Hi Aleka!

Hope the burger is yummy! I've been hooked on chili with mushrooms (someone here suggested that!) and then cooking some fresh cabbage in each batch-- makes for crisp, sweet cabbage... sorta like a cabbage roll, but loose! Yummm!

Is everyone having a great weekend? Mauvisroux, I loved the H Potter books, and the movies have been fun too! Don't you love Mrs. Westley's sweaters???

I had a good weigh in! Yeah low carb! Su

Hi Everyone:
I posted on Sunday but it looks like my message got lost
with the transfer.:dizzy:

Nikkic: You were asking me about Joan River's perfume. I have
not tried it. I am totally in love with Tresor by Lancome. Expensive
stuff, I try to get it cheaper on e-bay.

I got quite abit of my Christmas Shopping done this weekend.

The big anniversary party for my parents is on Saturday. I know
you folks will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday. I bet
you are all looking forward to that! I love the holidays.
It is such a great family time.

I will be getting my scanner/printer soon. I will attempt to post
my picture. (I am not too computer literate.)

Anne.

Hi everyone,
I've been checking all day and finally got on the new server. I have really missed you guys. I have to tell you, I am so thankful that I have you all to talk to and to feel like I'm accepted and not judged. The reason I'm gushing over you all, is because I spent part of the day reading threads on the ss'ing site. It is really aweful, there is a thread-Anyone Tired of this woe and feel low fat is better. They tore that woman to shreds, then she spent the entire day trying to defend herself on different threads. It just made me realize, once again, how great this website is. Your support and encouragement has meant the world to me.:grouphug:
Anne, we're going to celebrate Thanksgiving at a all you can eat buffet. I think everybody will be happy with that. The family can have whatever they want, and I can eat lots of meat and steamed veggies. Then, no leftovers to try to not eat. I did buy a turkey breast that I'm going to put in the rotisserie the day after so we can have lots of turkey for sandwiches. I'll just eat it plain, of course.
Aleka, hope you had a good day shopping. That's the same kind of soy cheese, I haven't tried it yet.
Su, how do you make your baked eggplant? You mentioned it last week and I could use some new ideas.
I have to go check my chili, same as yours Su, but I put green beans in it instead of cabbage.
Later, Nikki

I went over to the ss forum to see what was happening, and if you haven't guessed it yet, all of those threads are now gone. Just one more example of why I like it here so well. Nikki

Evening everyone:wave:

I spent the whole of Sunday doing NOTHING...boy if felt good! I don't often get the day to myself,

Nikki-that is too bad about the ss site. I guess no one is allowed to question things over there. I like the site for recipes and useful information but I have never posted over there. I have checked out a few other sites but the 3FC one seems to be the most friendly, supportive and open minded one that I have come across. I am glad that though we are all doing low carb in our own way we can still chat and be friends with each other. :grouphug:

Su- believe it or not I haven't read the Harry Potter books, I've just seen the movies  which of course are making me want to read the books now:D Yes, I love her sweaters!

AnneD~ Tresor smells great! I usually wear Davidoff Cool Water for women but I just got J'adore as an early Christmas present from DH.

Aleka-thanks for the info on the new SS book. I checked on Amazon for it and it said it was going to be released on December 3. I guess I will wait (impatiently) for it to come to a book store near me or maybe Suzanne will be on the Canadian home shopping network and I can order it there.

Hi Jennifer~hope you are doing okay and not working too hard:)

Well I am off to drink my Sleepy time tea and get some rest. I didn't sleep well last night so I have to make up for it tonight:cloud9:

Hi All! I'm typing in the dark here, so give me leeway to misspell a bit:)

Nikkic, I forgot about the eggplant! Actually, I have one waiting for me downstairs. I usually cut it in chunks and cook with a few browned onions and the fresh-cut canned tomatos (they seem to taste better). I like to have fresh basil cut up in it, or some
Italian herb mix. If I want a casserole, I'll put in ground turkey or some other meat base and layer with the veges and one layer of the vege cheese. I top this with parmasean cheese and bake until bubbling. I love having this around, as it is filling and not too bad on carbs. But some people might find it too carb heavy. With the basil, it all smells yummy. I also use this as a filling for omlets. It is very good that way, and reminds me of crepes.

Anne and Mauvisroux, I will have to try out those perfumes. I tried the new Calvin Klein (I think it is supposed to be a guy's perfume) in a free sample. I love it and I get a lot of favorable response. OK, if I don't say anything, I'm hoping no one guesses it is for guys!!

I'm glad to see eveyone coming back. Hi Jennifer!! I bet you are busy! Su

Good Morning Ladies:

Guess What! Amazon has sent me the new Suzanne Book it
should be arriving today as I rec'd the notification in my email.
Can't wait to see the recipes!!!

This is a great time of year to get a new recipe book especially
when I am trying not to gain. That is my goal for this season
try not to gain weight!

I am trying to stay ahead of the Christmas rush and I have
already wrapped the gifts I bought. If I leave it till the end
I can get very tense.:stress: Beleive it or not we put up our
Christmas tree. Reason it's up so early is the anniversary party
will take up all this weekend so I wanted to get it done.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi everyone,
Anne, we've had our tree up for about 2 weeks now. We bought it a couple of weeks ago and when I got it home, I just couldn't wait to see what it looked like. It's a little 3 foot one with the fiber optic lights and some really pretty star kind of things that light up on it. I bought some white bows and white little glass ornaments for it. Set it on top of the table in front of the front window and we're all set. I havent' been down to that corner of the basement where the Christmas stuff is for years, and I don't want to go there now either. It would involve a lot of work and I'm not in the mood for that.:o
Su, thanks for the eggplant recipe. I'll have to try it like that.
Mauvaisroux, I use to post over there more, still do some, but they are just plain strange. There are some nice people there, but some of them are almost cult like about it or at least really bossy.
Hi Jennifer and Aleka. Hope your doing well.

Another weigh in this morning, I only lost .4 lb. I really don't mind because I lost quite a lot last time. I just got back from lunch & shopping with my GF, and I do believe I gained that .4 lb. back!

nikki, I saw those posts on the SS board too! They really ripped that person to shreds about WW. Sometimes I wonder about the people over on that site. I noticed that all the posts are gone now. I also noticed that person wrote another apology on a thread someone else started, then 2 people replied, one just ignored her/him, and another asked to have the thread closed. It's like a little dictatorship over there. I agree with you about 3FC being a wonderful site.

ANNE, that was fast you getting Suzanne's new book. I haven't even gotten a notice from Amazon yet. Let us know how you like it. We'll probably be putting our tree and decorations up on Fri. or Sat. We bought a small, 3' pre-lit tree a few weeks ago. We used to put up a lot of decorations, but the older we get the less we put up. You are way ahead of me in the wrapping dept. I usually wait until the last minute.

Su, those recipes sound delicious. Sometimes the Calvin Klein perfumes are unisex, aren't they? I used to wear perfume, and loved the smell. But, unfortunately I've become allergic to the smell :( I can't even go into a store that has a lot of potpourri, or the candle shops.

mauvaisroux, I don't post very much on the SS site, but l like some of the recipes over there. I did see a post on the SS site that the Canadian home shopping will not be carrying anymore of Suzanne's stuff.

Hi Jennifer, hope you're doing well.

Enjoy your evening everybody. :grouphug:

It looks as though we may have a white Thanksgiving after all. It started snowing early..early this morning and we've gotten 1/2". It appears to have stopped, and we can only hope.

I received the low-carb diet book that I ordered from Amazon, the one titled How I Gave Up Low Fat and Lost 40 Lbs...or something like that. I read some of it last night, and she had something very interesting about caffiene. She said that if you drink anything with caffiene, wait an hour, and if you're hungry after that hour, you are sensitive to caffiene. Fortunately for me, I am the opposite. It fills me up. I thumbed through the book and she explains about a few of the low-carb WOEs, like Atkins, PP, CALP,the Zone, and "Careful Carbing". The Careful Carbing seems less restrictive than the others. It's funny, one thing she emphasizes is, **always eat carbs with protein..never alone** Once I find the time I will sit down and read it, it's very easy reading.

nikki, Su, & Jennifer, I want to wish you a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! I hope that you eat to your heart's content.

Hi mauvaisroux, & ANNE  I hope you guys will have a great day.

Hi everybody,
Good news, I've lost 4 lbs this week. I'm now down 29 lbs. Setting my goal for Jan 1, want to be 240 by then, which would be a 5 lb lose in one month. At that rate, I'd be 190 by next June. I just can't imagine being under 200 lbs again. I know I can make it, but will not be disappointed if I don't get there as soon as I want.
I go to the bone Dr. today for a check up and also to have him fill out the paper work to continue my disability. I am really nervous about it.
I don't know if I'll be able to get back to the computer before tomorrow, so Happy Thanksgiving Aleka, Su and Jennifer.
Bye for now, Nikki

Hi guys, just stopping in here and on the daily thread to say hi. I haven't felt well at all so I haven't been online so much. First of all, I think I was the last person in the country to get online to the new server again, and then was out with an ovarian cyst. It has hurt pretty bad but it is easing up the last couple of days. My endo scheduled surgery for next Thursday and he will either remove the ovary or the cyst, depending on what he sees when he goes in. I hate being put to sleep and really wish I didn't have to do this, but the cyst is 38mm and isn't getting smaller, so it will probably just grow. Might as well get rid of it now. Have a nice Thanksgiving, and I will try my best to be online late tonight or later this weekend, I just haven't felt chatty--only grumpy! I hope all of you are doing well, will catch up asap!

Hi Chicks!

Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone is having a great day! I know the Canadians have already had theirs, but have some more with us :) I am so very thankful that I am here instead of cowering in bed with the M&Ms! You guys are so much help!

Yeah for the .4 and the 4 lb losses! It sounds like we're getting smaller by the minute! I hope that this day isn't challenging to any of us, and that the family and other friends around us can be so much more fun than the food.

Jennifer {{{{hugs}}}} I am so sorry you are having to go through that! I'm sure you will feel so much better after the surgery. I hope that you get enough rest this weekend to deal with it all. Take good care.

Much love to all! I'm off to eat my very traditional (NOT!) low carb chili and veges. My home time will be later this weekend. Su

Hi everyone,
Jennifer, really sorry your feeling so lousy. I hate surgery too. Here's to a speedy recovery. (I'm raising a steamed broccoli spear).

Anne, I had to cut out nuts, too easy too eat and I've always had a hard time controlling my eating anyway. I also cut out all dairy for now. I've read that if you hit a plateau, to change things a little and that sometimes will give your weight loss a kick start, so that's what I did. Hoping it will continue for awhile. I added more carbs- oatmeal, rice and potatoes. Also, I did away with the food combining completely. I've read so many places that it is better to eat proteins and carbs together. But, the extra exercise sure can't hurt. On lowcarb.com, there is an exercise/diet guru type, Trainer Dan. He has gone from being a out of shape little weakling to a buffed, muscley guy. Anyway, he gives a lot of advice to the masses and has published a book, or a booklet of sorts. I ordered it, it's really 64 8x10 pages in a binder. But, it has a lot of info in it that he's gathered from his experience in body building. It is hard to read, and not really worth getting, unless your a serious body builder. But his idea is to eat a really high protein diet 5 1/2 days a week and then for 1 1/2 days to eat high carb. After reading some of it, I realized it wasn't for me. Still, it is good to read lots of info from lots of people and then make your own decision concerning how you want to eat. I know one thing, as long as I'm not eating chips and dip with coke for lunch, I'm doing a lot better. I cann't believe I use to do that, and did it for years.

Yesterday, the Dr said I could have an ankle replacement, enter a research study with some kind of experimental treatment, have the hardware removed from my ankle or just let things stay the same for awhile. I chose stay the same. I go back to see him in 6-9 months and I think by that time, I'll have lost a lot more weight and my muscles will be stronger. I want to be as good as I can be before I have the hardware removed, which is what I want to happen next. I'm tired of experiments and I sure don't want an ankle replacement. I think I've come a long way so far and will only improve.
Last night we ate at my favorite Chinese restaurant and I had 2 plates of food. Mostly meat and veggies, but also the cellophane noodles, I don't know what they do to them, but they are so delicious. Today, we went to the buffet and it was good, but I just had a small portion of meat, steamed veggies and baked potato. I figured I pigged out last night and that was good enough.

I sent back Colleens ring. It was starting to get too big and I doubt it could be sized. I told DH that I want a Total Gym for Christmas and he was really relieved that he won't have to go out and buy something for me. He said he wanted one too. I think it will be a great addition to my work out and it will be easy on my ankle.
Talk to you all later, Nikki

aleka
11-29-2002, 07:57 AM
How did you guys do yesterday? I did not eat too much dinner, but I pigged out on NUTS!!! I did have a piece of pumpkin pie, but that was it. I ate 1 slice of turkey, and I just had 1 or 2 forkfuls of the other stuff. I did not eat any rolls, which I patted myself on the back!:smug:

Today is the official start of Christmas shopping. Most of our stores opened at 6:00am. There is no way I am venturing out to the stores today! I can't stand crowds. Are any of you planning on shopping today? If so, GOOD LUCK!!!!

Jennifer, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} from me too. You get plenty of rest. I had a hysterectomy 9 yrs. ago, so I have an idea of what you're going through. The best part about the whole thing was that I couldn't do anything for a month. It was nice being waited on hand and foot, sort of like being a man!

Su, that's fantastic losing 10% of your weight :bravo: :high: They say that's the magic number.

nikki, congratulations on the 4 lb.:cb: :high: That's terriffic. Sorry about Colleen's ring. The Technibond ring I have is starting to get larger on me, but it can be worn on my middle finger. Right now it fits good on my ring finger because I'm retaining water from all the salted nuts I ate yesterday. I can't believe I did that, but they were good. Have you read Body for Life? There is a thread on this site with his WOE. It sounds like a pretty good way to eat. He gives you a free day in the week to eat anything you want. The guy who wrote BFL, sounds a lot like Trainer Dan. That's good news about your ankle. When you have lost more weight, and with all the exercising you do, I bet your ankle will be ok on its own.

ANNE, can you get by with 1/4 cup of nuts? If you get soy nuts, since they are small, you get a lot more nuts for your 1/4 cup. If nuts are a trigger food, then by all means cut them out. Peanuts & Cashews are triggers for me, but soy nuts aren't.

Hi mauvaisroux, hope you're having a good day.

Have a great day ladies! :balloons:

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Congrats on the 4lbs nikkic :hat:

We woke up to a snowstorm this morning...we are lucky that DH and I can both walk to work from our apartment, we did not have to dig ourselves out or fight traffic :)

We went to a Greek restaurant for dinner. I managed to eat well by having grilled chicken and a shrimp brochette but did eat the Greek potatoes. They tasted amazing! I figured that I will allow my self a potato once in a while. Weird thing is that I don't actually miss eating them  and now that they are a treat I enjoy them more.

Jennifer, I hope your operation goes well and that you are feeling better soon :goodvibes

Evening everyone,
Aleka, you didn't do too bad yesterday. Those nuts are just so tempting aren't they? I will read BFL, but still trying to make it through Schwarzbeins books, kind of dull if your not doing the plan. Where is that thread? I didn't shop today, too many people and I hate crowds too. A friend of ours says that Walmart here in town sold $125k in the first 30 min that the store was open. We live in a small town too. Hard to imagine what the whole country sold. My favorite Technibond ring is too big and sort of fits on my middle finger. When I've lost all the weight I want, if it doesn't fit any finger, I'm having it put in a real setting. I just love that simulated Alexandrite, but they don't make this style anymore.

Mauvaisroux, the greek food sounds good. I haven't eaten that in over 20 years. Don't think there are any Greek restaurants in Iowa. There's restaurants run by Greeks, but they sell the usual-pizza and hamburgers. Wow, that's a lot of snow, we still have to try to get our snow shovel and snow blower out of the shed. Glad to hear I'm not the only one eating a potato once in awhile. It is funny that they don't taste better, isn't it? They use to be one of my favorite foods. I figure once or twice a week I can eat a small baked potato. I have been eating oatmeal with soy milk for breakfast every morning. I make a big pot the first of the week and then just heat it up in the microwave the rest of the week. Add some splenda and cinnamon and it's not too bad. I saw your thread wanting recipes for Christmas. Have you checked over at the ss'ing site? They have lots of great recipes there. I'll post a few appetizer recipes here too.

HI Anne, Su and Jennifer.

Guess it's getting late, so I'll talk to you all tomorrow.

Goooood morning Chicks,
I hope everyone has a great day. I am getting ready for work. It is now 5:25 am.
Ruth thanks, your dog sounds wonderful.
I was really hungry yesterday, I made the pizza soup and had it for lunch and supper but it did not do the trick so I ended up having bacon and eggs before I went to bed. I went to babysit our two grandsons last night and had about 15 of there cheesies about 11 carbs!!!! That is the first time I knowingly ate something that I shouldn't have. Oh well.
Well Have a large day, Remember;

We had snow yesterday afternoon, and it seemed the right time to put up some of our Christmas stuff. We'll put more up today. Took all the Thanksgiving decorations down, but I just know there is one or two things I forgot...I usually do!:^:

mauvaisroux, before the SS site went down, I printed out a sausage ball recipe. The original recipe calls for Bisquick baking mix, I believe, and someone SSized it, using shredded cheese for the Bisquick. I've tried the sausage balls made with the baking mix, and they are awesome :T I haven't tried them SSized, but if you want, I will post the recipe for you if you haven't found it on SS site. The Greek food sounds good. Like nikki, the only Greek owned restaurants are pizza parlors, and we have an Italian restaurant near us that is owned by Greeks. The only thing I have ever had that is Greek is Feta Cheese, and I absolutely LOVE it! I don't miss potatoes either. Once in awhile instead of a baked potato I have a baked sweet potato (yam). My weakness is mashed potatoes.

nikki, I was watching our New England 24 hr. cable news station yesterday, and they were at some store, it looked like Walmart. They had a news camera inside the store, and when they opened the doors to let people in, they all came racing in. It looked like a herd of buffalo coming. They were going so fast, and trying to be first that someone almost knocked over a display. I couldn't believe my eyes! :yikes:

tazcat, welcome :balloons: Which low carb plan are you doing?

I just remembered you asked where the BFL thread was. It's on the main forum page, and it's above General Diets, and it's called Body for Life/Bodybuilding. Another thing, I forgot to ask you. Tony Little was selling his gazelle yesterday on HSN. It's the Gazelle Freestyle Extreme. Is that the one you have? They were selling it for $199.00.

Aleka

nikkic

Aleka, It's the same one. They have one out now that has shock absorber things on it to make it more resistive. It looks hard, but you can leave them off if you want. If your under 250 lbs, you can get one for $99 from walmart on line, same thing as the extreme, just not as heavy duty. I bet there will be some for sale after the first of the year, in the want ads. I get a good cardio work out from it, plus it stretches out my muscles and makes my joints loosen up. I still use the tape, I gauge my workout against his. He is still annoying, but I also find him inspiring and positive too. It's a good way to start the day.

Mauvaisroux, I posted a recipe for Chinese Shrimp Kebobs on the main entree forum here. These would be festive and easy. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm making them for Christmas too. We're just having finger foods. I want it to be easy and relaxed. Everyone can just graze, but it won't be so filling as a big turkey with all the trimmings.

Hi,
A quick note before I go to bed, it is now 9:55.
Aleka, I am reading Dr. Atkins book and using a lot of the recipies on the low carb recipie site. I love the one for fake mashed potatoes. I make a lot of smoothies using soy protein powder. I have made the pizza soup, yum. I have made the cheese burger soup, yum. The jello, cream cheese, dipped in unsweetened chocolate, well I don't think they will make me eat to many carbs, yeck!
We went out for supper and I had a stake and salad. DH had a large fish and fries, to die for.
Like I said before you all have helped me with this low carb thing. I have also joined back at TOPS. I was a member several years ago. I like being part of a group.
Well I must go, 4:45am comes early, I have to work tomorrow.

Morning everyone,
I'm feeling very blonde today. Aleka, I've seen that thread before, I don't know where my head was at. I read the info on bfl and it looks a lot like a lot of other plans that I've seen lately, but with all the good parts stuck together, if that makes any sense. The one thing I don't agree with is having a free day or even a free meal. Seems like it is taking a step backwards. Not that cheating occasionally is bad, I plan on cheating and do it without guilt. But I don't do it all day. Like, if I'm going to cheat, I'll have one thing that I feel is cheating some, then the rest of the meal is on track. Yesterday, I had a taco salad at a restaurant. I know that meat had a taco seasoning in it that no doubt had sugar in it, but I figured, it was a small amount, so I ate it without guilt and stayed on track the rest of the day. Also, the taco sauce they served with it had sugar in it, so that added some more. Wish the food industry would leave that sugar out more than add it.
Taz, I misunderstood, I thought you were going to a different site for recipes. There are some really good ones here too. In fact, I think some of the best ones are here. I have a lot of books too. I have lots of loose papers I've printed out and need to put into binders one day. DH wants to know why I think I need all these papers. I say they are mostly recipes and they are. I print them out, then rarely look at them again. I do have them if I need them though. I get up and exercise early, but 5am is aweful early.
Later, Nikki

Hi Chicks!

I'm trying to type around the furgirls who think it is verrrry cold! I tried to entice them to sit on the chair with the furry wrap, but nooooo, my lap is the place!

It's good to see you all back and smiling! I did pretty well with the weight loss, but we don't cook much in my family for holidays. We are all older, and between dietary restrictions and no kids, it just isn't the problem for us that it is for others. I'll have more trials through Christmas due to so much work-related get togethers, so I'm trying to prepare myself.

Taz, I've tried BFL just briefly. I had some joint pain kick in, but I think that the full program is hard on those of us who have not been active in some time. I'm waiting on that until I am closer to goal. I did buy the Leslie Sampson tapes on walking that are at Sam's. 3 tapes and the wt balls for about 18 dollars. The first one is about my speed right now!

Nikkic- That 4 lb wt loss is super!! I know that will keep you feeling lighter on your exercise this week! I wonder if the mashed cauliflower potatos could be spiced like Mauvisroux's greek potatos??? I did love potatos soooo much, but I think I'm just very carb reactive. Maybe at goal :)

Aleka, How did the shopping go? I avoid those 'doorbuster' sales times too. My mom and dad once went when I was a child, and Dad had to protect Mom from being shoved through a plate glass door! They did get the color TV they went after, but I think they both thought it too great a risk. I love the nuts too! I had decided not to buy any more since I pigged on them a while back, but they are back in freezer. I think they are such a good food, I am going to have to learn to get along with them. The same goes for cream cheese. Some in my eggs really helps on my hungry days, I just need to keep from snacking on it so much.

Anyone going to see Solaris? Of course, I am not going to see it because of G Clooney's rear (:D) I did hear online that he really comes across with a great performance, so I'm curious.

Everyone, have a wonderful day! Su

We got a bit of rain early yesterday evening. It's been flurrying here this morning.

We bought a pre-lit 3' Christmas tree a few weeks ago. We put it up yesterday, and it's the sorriest looking tree I've ever seen. It almost looks like Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree:censored: We bought it at a Target Store, and it was very inexpensive. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Su, what a horrible thing to have happen to your mother. I don't know what comes over people when there are good buys to be had. I did not venture near any store on Fri. But, DH & I went to Walmart on Sat. morning to pick up a few things, and we had the store practically to ourselves. :faint: Both of us were flabbergasted! I also have those Leslie Sansone walking tapes w/the weighted balls. I love them. I do the 2nd one most, if not all the time. I did try the 3 mile walk without using the weights. I keep telling myself to do the 2 mile walk with the weights 3 days a week, and do the 3 mile walk without weights 2 days a week. So far, I haven't done it. Do you have any other Leslie Sansone walking tapes? I have almost a whole library of them.

nikki, the only reason I could not do BFL is all the bodybuilding you have to do. I am not an exercise person. I don't mind walking, or doing a few exercises with hand weights, but to do it for a long period of time, is not my idea of fun. You have a good attitude about your cheats. To tell you the truth, going to WW I feel sooooo guilty whenever I have a cheat, and I don't like that feeling. Even when I go out to eat, I am terrified that I'm eating over my points. How many days a week do you work out? You probably needed that day of rest. Did you watch HSN last night? Colleen was selling absolute. There was a band ring to die for. If it wasn't so expensive I would've gotten it.

tazcat, I also have my share of books on exercising and dieting. I am reading through my Protein Power book I got over the summer. Hopefully I can pick up a few tips there. Have you got the exercise book 8 Minutes in the Morning? His approach to weight training & toning is different than BFL.

ANNE, how did the anniversary part go on Sat.? I hope you all had a great time.

Hi mauvaisroux & Jennifer

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies.

Su-what happened to your mom was just aweful. I went to the opening of a Target store 25 years ago and it was a stampede. I decided right then, no more crowds for me.
My plan right now is to eat a few potatoes and rice a couple of times a week, until the 1st of the year, then go back on Atkins induction for a couple of weeks. I've lost another pound in the last few days. I think I just needed to change things for awhile. I really think your body gets use to what your doing and settles in a pattern. I feel like I have to keep outsmarting my metabolism.

I've been working out 7 days a week, for 1 hour a day. Doing a variety of different things. Most importantly, it has to be fun and interesting to want to keep doing it. I don't feel like I really need a day off, most of the time anyway. Most of my day, I'm pretty inactive, so I feel my exercise time is just something most people with jobs get routinely. I was watching these 2 waitress yesterday when we ate out. They were flying all over the place and that's when I realized, I need to exercise, just to get up to some people's normal day without exercise.
Aleka, I think I know the ring you talking about, it was a big band ring for $299, if I'm right. It was a beauty. Have you noticed their Absolutes are getting higher? I really love them, but that's more than I want to pay. I could buy some pretty nice gemstones for that price.
It's a really nice day, for Dec. 1. Sun is shining and it's in the high 40's. I'm going to go out and get rid of some more leaves from the yard.

Hi Everyone::wave:

Aleka, the anniversary was wonderful. It is so great that my
dad at age 71 is here with us for this day. Four lung cancer
sugeries since he was 56, who would ever believe it!! We are
blessed.
Every one had a great time and I must admit this is the first
time I have been off program since August!!! I really enjoyed
my food!!!:T Business as usual come Monday!!!

My brother brought over his new puppy, my kids went crazy
and so did I!!. I am thinking about bringing a puppy into the
family come the new year. I know the Christmas season is
not the right time. I love Basset Hounds, like Columbo's dog!!

It's gotten awfully cold...seems more like Jan. than Dec. It's only 16 deg. here this morning. BRRRRR

ANNE, I am so glad that the anniversary party was a success and it is a blessing that your Dad was there to enjoy it. You're very fortunate to have your Dad around after all his surgeries. My Mom passed away from lung cancer 23 yrs. ago. A puppy!!!! How adorable! What kind of puppy is it? Basset Hounds are so loveable. A GF of mine had a Basset Hound many years ago. He was a character. I wish your brother many happy years with his puppy. My "puppy" will be entering the terrible 2's on Sat.:hyper:

nikki, that's good you mixing things up, because from what I've been told by my Dr. & WW leader, that if you keep eating the same things day after day, your body get's used to it and is not very efficient in burning calories. I know it's easy to get in a rut especially when your trying to lose weight. I seem to eat a lot of this 0 point soup that I make. I think that absolute ring was around $300.00. It seems as though the price of everything is going up. Although, I can't get over all the fabulous sales going on in all the stores. I know it's to get people in to Christmas shop. That's great you had such a nice day yesterday. Did you get your leaves raked? Are you getting this cold that seems to have enveloped us?

Hi mauvaisroux, Su, & Jennifer.

Take care and have a great day.

Hi everyone,
Anne, congratulations to your folks on their 50th wedding anniversary. Sounds like a wonderful time and I'm glad you ate whatever you wanted and enjoyed it. I'm also glad your dad is feeling better. I want a new dog too, but I'm waiting til spring. I don't want to have to try to walk a puppy in the snow, let alone walk myself in the snow.:) A new baby brings all kinds of life into a house. I think our old tom cat will not enjoy it as much as I will.

Aleka, it is getting colder here. The low on Wed is going to be 9. We have some pretty nice days through Dec. usually. Every year is different. Some times it will stay in the 50's and 60's til the end of Dec., sometimes, it snows Oct. 10th and stays cold and wintery after that. I raked the leaves yesterday and got a little extra physical activity in for the day. It will be way too soon that I won't want to get outside and do anything.
I bought a Palmpro from HSN last night. It's a little cordless drill. I have waited for so long to have DH do some of the stuff in the house and I'm tired of waiting. We have a big drill, but everytime I try to use it, DH wants to take over, then complains forever about it. I just have a bunch of little things that need done, like hanging a curtain rod (I've had the curtain since spring, still in the bag), putting up a towel rack in the kitchen, a new ceiling fan in the dining room. I've put up 2 ceiling fans in other parts of the house and thought I'd let him do the dining room. But after 3 years of this one not working, it doesn't look like he's going to make a move for it. So that's my next project.

Well, hope everyone else is doing well. Talk to you all soon, Nikki

Hi Everyone!

We are in the deep freeze here in Toronto too! Makes you wonder, one year its like spring all winter long, this year we
are below seasonal values.

My stomache feels "off" today. I suppose when you are following
a program for so many months its a shock to your system when
you eat carbos again!:dizzy:

Today I am right back "on track". I think I will pospone my
weigh in until December 14. I don't want to see the carbo
gain on the scale:lol:

I am well on my way to finishing my christmas shopping. I just
hate in January when those bills come in!:fr:

Hope everyone stays warm today!
Anne.

Mauvaisroux,
I just got my Taste of Home magazine today. It is pretty much worthless to me now, just makes me hungery looking at it. Anyway, there is one recipe in there that looked good. It's Smoked Salmon Cheesecake. I'm going to enter it in the recipe forum under misc. It really is pretty and looks very elegant, if you still need recipes for your Christmas party.
