Good morning all. I'm reporting another maintain, although this one is an official one. I was a bit disappointed. I have a ways to go on my pre-Thanksgiving goal but a maintain is always better than a gain.

The weekend was so-so. Work on Saturday was awful. I ended up getting there at 8:30 by going to my WW meeting center, weighing in at 7:15 am and then driving into the city. Our server kept crashing and the tests didn't go well (not my neck but it was still frustrating since everything had tested out fine previously). The worst part was that once I got home I had to dial in to test production again a few hours later and some boob had turned something off so I was on the phone until 8:30pm! I should have picked up my journal once I was finished because I ate more than I should have and I know if was related to the day.

I was OP yesterday including getting in almost an hour of tough cardio tape. My sneak peek this morning was the same as Saturday so that's OK. I have to really watch myself today though. Tony is on a short business trip (left early this morning and coming back tomorrow evening) and that's always a snack trigger for me, aside from the fact that I am definitely in PMS territory. However, I'm determined to lose this week and that means "clean eating" - that's what I am determined to do this week.

Have a great one!

Judy - Ouch. It sounds like Saturday was a day from work **** for you. Sorry to hear that it went badly. I know that you're frustrated by another maintain, but you had a good attitude. If you're in the midst of PMS, then it most likely was water. Hang in there and I'm sure you'll see spectacular results at the scale on Saturday. I'm sending you {{{hugs}}} and positive vibes to stay on track tonight, despite Tony's business trip. You know you can do it.

I had an ok weekend. Friday was a complete bust for me. The PMS monster came a calling and I wasn't prepared for him. Saturday was better. Yesterday was fine, although I didn't really eat a meal per se. Dinner ending up being popcorn and a PB sandwich. Tomorrow I plan on going to the unemployment office to apply for benefits, so I don't know if I'll get a chance to get here. I know from past experience that it's likely to be a long day. So I'm going to bring a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and a Slimfast snack bar with me so that I'm not tempted by the vending machine. Hunger, boredome, frustration, and easy access to fat and sugar are not a good combination.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi all...

Carla, I hear you re the PMS monster. Glad the weekend was a good one. How about taking a trashy novel with you tomorrow and reading the day away?

Judy, I use the time when Mike is away to be self-indulgent; eg long hot baths etc. Maybe that would help with the emotional snacking... Sorry to hear that Saturday was so awful. Good for you for maintaining!

My weekend was so-so. Today I have my workout clothes with me and will stop at the gym on the way home. Must run and get a glass or two of water in.

Have a great day...

Karen - Oh, I definitely will bring reading material with me. Hopefully it won't be an all day adventure like the last time I went.
Have fun at the gym.

My little intro :)

Hi I am Niki and I am SAHM to my almost 13 month old son. I am battling the bulge. *giggle* My highest was 205 and I had reached that about the time I miscarried my first child. I lost a few pounds and got ot 192 when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I stayed 192 during the whole pregnancy. Then right at the end I gained 3 pounds. Then after my son I lost 22lbs. I was down to 172 then I got down to 157 and started watching a friends son and got stressed out and gained back to 174. With the holidays approaching I am hoping to not stuff my face. My hubby is in the military and is about 14 days away from coming home from being in Korea for 364 days. I am hoping to lose a total of 7lbs by Jan 1st. Then starting Jan 1 to Jun 1 I want to lose atleast 42 more lbs. My goal is to be down to 125. I do try and get in exercise and I know once my hubby is home i will have more chances to go to the gym. Well I hope to get to know you all better.

My WI is on Saturday so I will post then.

Tucan - welcome! Good luck on your weight loss journey! I'm sure you'll be able to post a loss next week.

Niki - wow, you must be ultra excited about your husband's return from Korea!! How old is your son? It's hard to find time to exercise when you're running around full time after a little one. I'm an RN, married with a daughter at university. I have about 70 lbs to lose and have been struggling big time with motivation lately.

Carla - hope you don't keel over from boredom tomorrow. Isn't red tape frustrating @#%$&!

Well, congratulations to me! I went to the gym on the way home from work and did 20 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights. That's quite an accomplishment these days.

ttfn,

Karen

Carla - I join you in PMS - let's kick that monster to the curb! Good planning on your part with bringing healthy snacks and reading material to the unemployment office. I hope it's not too much waiting. I don't see a problem with not having a "meal per se". One of the strategies they have talked about at meetings is that for some people mini-meals work best. Sounds to me like you had a couple of mini-meals.

Karen - Well, so-so is better than bad! Good for you for bringing your workout clothes with you and hitting the gym.

Tucan - Welcome!

Niki - Welcome! Wow, that must be hard on you to have your husband away for so long. I'll bet your reunion will be wonderful. Your goals sound do-able and I'm sure once it's easier to exercise you will do really well. I'm married (2nd time for both of us), no kids of our own but my husband's daughter has a 4.5 yr boy and we love being Grandma and Grandpa. I've got about 25 pounds to go.

I should have picked up my journal last night - between PMS, Tony being away and my concern for this kitten (3 mos old) that my parents returned to the shelter they got him from 'cause their older cat wasn't getting along with him (Tony and I are going to adopt him) I had too many snacks and even with using my activity points, I was 2.5 points in deficit. I've exercised this morning and wiped out the deficit but I decided I needed to get hold of myself so I'm going to do a low carb day (which my doctor wanted me to do a couple of days a week). I took the day off work - I'm going to visit Max (the kitten) in the shelter this morning and talk to them about adopting him on Thursday. I was going to take the day off anyway so this works out well. I am planning to pcik up my journal after I get back to be sure that the emotions don't get the best out of me.

Hi all,

For various reasons, I had to postpone the trip to the unemployment office until tomorrow, so here I am.

Tucan - Welcome!

Niki - Welcome to you too! How stressful it must have been to have your husband away for so long. Happy reunion! I'm 43, married, with a 4 year-old daughter. Up until the end of June I worked outside the home. I've been a SAHM since, trying to decided what to do next.

Karen - Yay for going to the gym!

Judy - Well, the monster left and TOM has arrived. A 2.5 deficit isn't too bad, so don't be so hard on yourself. Good for you for wiping it out. How fun - a new kitten. Now remember to pick up that journal.

Had a good day yesterday. I didn't get on the bike yesterday, but Ana did. Actually she wanted to ride her trike around the neighborhood so I did get a nice walk in. Not as intense as a stint on the stationary bike, but still some movement. I didn't get on this morning, but hope to take a spin this afternoon. We'll see.

Have a great day everyone.

Carla - I think you are a bit ahead of me - I don't expect TOM for a few more days. OK - I guess it's up to me to kick that PMS monster to the curb! Glad to hear you got a walk in yesterday even if you didn't get on the bike - think of it as cross-training! Sorry to hear that the trip to unemployment got postponed but I know you'll go tomorrow "armed and ready".

Well, I visited Max (the 3 mo kitten) in the shelter this morning and he was really flipped out - no wonder - he's confused and scared. After I went downstairs (he was in an upstairs room) the people who worked there said that he was crying so. They ended up letting me take him home today. They said that even if I have to leave him in a room by himself tomorrow when I go into the city to work, it would be better than staying at the shelter. So he's upstairs in the guest room and I have to say that I am very glad I took him home - as soon as I let him out of the carrier, he started purring. Smokey (the male) has been to the door of the room smelling and seems the most curious about Max. Samantha was interested in the different smell on me (from Max) but hasn't been upstairs yet. I think I'll keep Max in his room 'till the weekend and then the introductions will begin.

I'm off to the chiropractor in a few minutes. So far my low carb day is going well. The real key will be in the evening.

Have a great one!

Hi all, yes it has been rough having to raise my son on my own. He is almost 13 months old (11/30). My hubby is very encouraging. He has been my main supporter and will do anything to make me happy. I know once I lose this xtra baggage I will feel better about myself and I know my self esteem will rise again.

Good morning all!

I had a pretty good day yesterday - I managed to make it a fairly low carb day - Tony got back from his trip a little early which was great. He asked if we could have pasta for dinner and I managed to compromise with him so I could still be fairly low-carb: we made a little orzo to go in the soup and I had 1/2 cup - not bad considering the alternative. One thing I found useful to have in the house (and I only had one) was a protein bar (Kashi Go Lean) - I was running out of ideas for non-carb snacks (I didn't want to have too much cheese because of the cholesterol). I think I'll get a few to have in the house for the low-carb days - I'm going to try to do one a week.

My back is a little troublesome today - if I do any workout when I get home, I may just do a gentle yoga workout.

Have a great one,
Judy

Hi all.

Judy - Cross-training is a good way of looking at it. I'm glad to hear that the shelter let you take Max home early, since he was so upset being there. How old are your other two kitties? I'd love to get a kitten, but Luigi is 16 now and I really don't want to rock his boat more than it already has been this year. Orzo in the soup is a good compromise. I've had those GoLean bars - pretty good stuff, and filling too. I hope your back feels better.

Niki - Having a supportive husband makes all the difference.

I did ok yesterday. Didn't get on the bike, though, but walking through Costco has to count for something, right? Since I'm battling cramps, I decided to wait one more day for the unemployement office. I weighed in this morning and was up a little, but I'm not going to count it. My sneak peeks consistently showed me down, plus with TOM I'm retaining water and am all bloated and yucky. I'm suited up and getting ready to go downstairs and get on that bike.

Talk to you all later.

Carla

Carla - yes, I think walking around Costco counts as a (light) walk - if you shop there any way like I do, I go down each and every aisle because you never know what they are going to have! Last time we were there I was a little disappointed though. They had these great frozen lower fat spinach & cheese ravioli that were 3.5 points per cup (about 8) if you didn't make the butter/garlic/whatever sauce. Sorry to hear that you are still crampy. I agree, wait until you are feeling better before going to unemployment. Way to go on getting on that bike. Samantha and Smokey will be 9 (!) in February. I guess they are "young" senior citizens. The only problem I had with the GoLean bar was that it was a whopper as far as points but it was very filling.

Judy - I do Costco the same way you do. Some trips definitely are better than others, I'll agree. They don't always have the same stuff. Drat, I forgot to look for those ravioli. And they didn't have the stuffed shells yesterday, so it was a pasta free trip. I did make the mistake, however, of picking up the fresh Pan Bigio. Two whopping loaves of bready goodness. I carbo overloaded yestereday for sure. Today I'm proud to report that I measured out 2 oz of it (4 pts) to go with my 1 pt Green Giant Brussel Sprouts in low fat butter flavored sauce. There's always sauce left at the end and I figure the bread is perfect for sopping it up. I'm enjoying them now as a wonderful post-workout lunch. You're right about the GoLean bars - they're expensive point-wise, but they do keep your stomach happy for a long time.

Later.

Carla - I know, Costco has some deliciously evil breads. When we were there last, Tony picked out a roasted garlic bread that was so yummy - we froze most of it but I still managed to eat too much!

I didn't have a great day yesterday. The PMS monster got a hold of me - I had those sweet and salty cravings - and I got into the leftover Halloween stash that I found. I'm quite a bit in the hole bank-wise but have promised myself that I will earn some activity points today and write in my journal tonight (I've let that lapse the last few days).

Have a great one!

Good Morning,

Judy - hope the new kitty is selling in well. You'll do great digging yourself out of your deficit, you're so good about exercising.

Carla - Do try & find those raviolis next time you're at Costco. It's a killer place to go if you're not feeling totally disciplined. I avoid it like the plague on weekends, I've been known to graze my way around the store trying all the free samples! Good for you for suiting up and getting on the bike.

I had a very good day yesterday. Drank lots, ate well, and even got in a workout at the gym. Today is my Saturday, so I have lots of running around to do. Have to get the dogs out for a run now, and then drop Gillis off for a grooming. I usually get him tidied up about once a year. Then it's groceries, pick up my new contact lenses, drycleaners etc etc. I'm making myself tired just thinking about it. Better get to it.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi!

I'm going to try WW on my own, and was wondering if I could post my weekly weigh-ins with you. I've done WW before - by going to the meetings, so I know the points plan - but usually when I try it at home I only last a day or two. I'm currently 5'2", weigh 154. My highest was 187 a few years ago, but I've been sort of stuck at this weight for a while now. I'm getting married in 4 months, though, and would really like to be happy with how I look on my wedding day. :)

Karen - Good for you for being OP yesterday. It feels good, doesn't it - like you're really taking care of yourself. Phew, your day makes me feel tired too ;-) Yeah, I'm good about exercising but it doesn't help if I keep going over my food points! Max (the new kitty) is settling in OK - we are going to try the first "introduction" this evening after work - it should be interesting.

Kerry - of course you may join us - welcome! You and I are have almost the same stats - I'm 5'3" and weigh just a few pounds more than you (the "offical" weigh in weight). Check in here every day - I'm sure you'll find this a very supportive group of people.

I'm having a devil of a PMS period. I was doing well until the late evening - and no, I didn't write in my journal - I should have. Instead I finished off the few pieces of chocolate left in the leftover Halloween candy - the best I can say about it is that there is no more chocolate and I couldn't care less about the rest of the stuff that's left! Oh well, I'm planning a good step workout at lunch and we have a low point dinner planned. My sneak peek this morning was good - I hope I can pull out a loss tomorrow. Tonight I'm picking up the journal for sure!

Does anyone here have a Palm Pilot? Someone at VF told me that there was a great program (freeware) available at Dottie's site - a journal and food list - called WWcalc. I've been using it the last few days and it is great.

Have a great one!

Good Morning,

Kerry, welcome! Of course you can join us! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. That'll motivate you! Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Today will be a challenge. I'm going to a geriatric psychiatry conference where I know there will be a lavish spread for lunch, as well as huge muffins and pastries for break times. Oh well, I'll do my best. I'm going to have my blueberry, banana, soy milk and soy protein smoothie for breakfast to stave off the munchies for a few hours. I had a very good workout at the gym yesterday. I'm starting to feel like I'm coming out of my slump. I think I was gearing all my efforts toward being healthy in the efforts to conceive, and now when we abandoned that, I guess I lost all motivation for a while. Anyway, I have to do this for me, and I will.

Hope you all have a great weekend. See you Monday.

Judy, I guess we were posting at the same time. When I have a PMS day like you're having, I just pack it in in the evening and go to bed early. Helps beat the munchies, and I get an extra hour or two of sleep! I have a palm pilot, I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

Hi all.
Judy - Sorry to hear that PMS led you to the Halloween candy. We still have our's around too. The only chocolate stuff we have left I don't particularly care for. I do like the non-chocolate stuff we have, but it's all pretty harmless at about 1 point a piece and it's not stuff I go overboard on, so I feel safe. About that at least. I'm glad to hear the new kitten is settling in well.

Karen - I will definitely look for those ravioli next time. I too try to stay away from Costco on the weekends - those samples are just too tempting. Sounds like you are getting firmly back in the groove again. Good for you. How's the puppy?

Kerry - Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Angel - Hope all is well with you.

Yesterday was not good. I've been craving KFC and I gave into it. Well, it's over and done with and I'm back on track today. I've been fighting a head cold and woke up with my throat feeling all gunky and stuck together, so I'll be drinking lots of water today, that's for sure. No major challenges for the weekend, at least not any that are planned.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.

Carla

Karen - Good luck at the seminar - I know what you mean about the lavish spread - at the last class I went to, they had big, chewy cookies at break time. It sounds as though you are going "well armed". I'm glad to hear that you are coming out of your slump. I can sure understand how the fertility situation contributed to your loss of motivation. I think it's a plus that you've come to understand that. Yup, going to bed early would be a smart thing to do on PMS evenings like my last two. I think I will try that tonight - I could use a good night's sleep. The Palm Pilot program is on dwlz.com (Dottie's site) under the forum there. There's a Palm Pilot Central forum and there is a thread with email addresses to request the programs. Yes, how is the puppy?

Carla - well, KFC happens. The important thing is your attitude - and it's a good one. I'm sorry to hear that you feel like you are coming down with something. We must be on the same wavelength. I felt like that yesterday but took some ecchinecia - so far so good - that reminds me to take some today!

Kerry - I forgot to say congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Judy
