Hey guys!

The new year is right around the corner and I for one am going to miss the weekly check-ins.

If people are interested I will be taking over the Challenge stats, BUT I need to know who is interested.

Post up here and let me know how many people we can expect!

Lets get 2011 off to a bangin' start

I would have been in but I want to see what my orthopedist says first. I have a torn meniscus, according to my family practitioner, who has advised me not to exercise right now. And I have yet to see the orthopedist so I don't know yet if I will need surgery.

If you guys decide to do it maybe I will join just to see what I can lose by diet alone. Or I can help in other ways.

Sure!

Here is the deal. For 12 weeks we have a weekly "weigh in" on Monday morning post your weight loss for the week like this previous weight/weekly loss/current weight. so for example mine would look like this 266.6/+1.2/267.8.

On Wednesday evening I will have everyone's numbers logged and I will post the total weight lost for the group for the week. At the end of 12 weeks, the person with the most weight lost and the person with the highest percentage of weight loss are the "winners" for that cycle.

What do you win you ask? Well nothing except lots of cheers from all of us, and the satisfaction of knowing that you stayed on plan and lost those pesky pounds :)

I should clarify.

The first weigh in, will be Monday January 3rd. That will not have a loss or gain with it, because its the first one and since not everyone in this challenge was in the last one..anyway yeah. LOL Sorry I am on cold meds and in a potluck coma so I am not sure if I am even making any sense!

The first weigh in will be Monday, that will be our "official" start weight. Then every Monday after that for 12 weeks.

I would like to join too, if that's alright! I've fallen completely off the wagon and I'm working on getting back on track as well. I think this will help. I'm actually starting a weight loss competition with some friends on Sunday, so this is perfect...I'll be working with them and with you gals too! And it runs about the same amount of time.

I'm going to work on my goals and what I'm wanting to accomplish for the 12 weeks here in just a little bit, so I'll post that soon. What is everyone else looking to get done?

I wish my starting weight was under 200. :)

My starting weight is 213.5. Somehow, I'm already up a pound since the first. (Ok, poor diet choices yesterday, but each morning brings a new day!)

I worked realllly hard in November to get into the 180's and then eat it away in December, my starting weight for our challenge is 194 lbs.

amanda2181: I don't reward myself pampering days, etc. everyone is different and is motivated by different things:D

SW is 170.8. I'd like to lose about a pound a week -- I like the idea that this challenge could result in finally getting down to 158, which was a minichallenge I had a while back that I got very close to without actually getting there. And obviously...I've gained some back! Argh!

Amanda: I have done some rewards in the past, but not sure I'll do that this time around...but I'll give it some thought!

My starting weight is 201.4 I have gained about 10 pounds since November. Man, when I fall off the wagon, I really fall off!!! I'm going to work on my goals today and when I get them figured out I'll post them.

Amanda: I do reward myself, but I do it with clothes. I find a top or pants that I really want and if I'm good for a specific time period I get to buy it. That works really well for me. I do a lot better with tangible things than others.

My starting weight is 202. I've lost 14 pounds since hte beginning of December on the Ideal protein diet. I plan on going to 150.

My starting weight is 166 as of this morning. I have actually gained about ten pounds in the last six months or so. I started exercising a few weeks back, but I really do need to add a diet into it in order to see the pounds come off. My ideal goal would be 145, but I haven't weighed that little since before kids so I would have to see if that is a good place if I can reach that goal. I want to be realistic, so I am aiming to lose a pound a week. My mini goals are 162 on 1/31, 158 on 2/28, and 154 on 3/28.

Has anyone else decided on a method of weight loss? Exercise and diet? I plan to count calories and I am doing the EA Sports Active workouts with the Wii.

Well! Official SW today is 186. Lower than I expected, but that could have something (everything?) to do with the large amounts of wine last night. :eek:

I have given myself some extra motivation to get my butt in the gym, I have signed up for my first triathlon. I have been training for the last four weeks and have four weeks left till the big day. I am so nervous.

Vienna-HAHA yeah here is to continence! Yesterday I found myself seriously distracted while doing the training. A few times people wanted to ask long drawn out questions(That had already been answered) and I found myself answering the questions outloud but in my head I was thinking "please shut up please shut up so we can break" HAHAHAHA

Welcome LT's girl and onelife...when I get into the office I will add your names and stats to the magic accountability spreadsheet WOOT.

So I broke down and had some tostidos with melted cheese last night. It's my "thing". Uhh. Why do I think I can reward my good behavior (exercising, eating healthy all day, lots of water) with something bad. I drank water while I was eating, so I justified it in my head. Then went to bed feeling bad.

I weighed myself this morning and was down a few pounds from Monday (though I won't call it my official weight). That helped me let go of the bad choice and move forward with today.

I'm so happy I can share this stuff here.

Chrztina-One bowl (or whatever) of Tostios with cheese is not a deal breaker. Feel bad about it for a second and then move on :). Old habits are hard to break. REALLY hard to break and you can slip back into them easier than you ever thought possible.

Congrats Ltsgirl! That's a great big commitment! I always want to do it, but find excuses not to. Keep us updated on how your training is going! I've been ok eating wise, but I started my period so now I know why I've been so crabby and generally off. Ugh!!!

I've been trying to get my house organized and straightened up for company tomorrow afternoon so I've been working my bottom off and will continue to do so until I'm finished....so I'm just quickly saying hello! Hopefully I'll get TONS done tonight and I'll be able to post more tomorrow.

I would like to join - how do I get in?

I got weighed in at weight watchers this morning at 224.8 - 10lbs more than my scale says at home! :(
I have had a lot of stress and been eating out of control - I am also starting to think I may have ADHD which is also contributing to the eating issues.

I have lost 100 lbs in my past through hypnosis (gained 50 back) but I can do this again.

My first goal is 210 lbs
My final goal is 160 lbs


I got my points and am revved to go. I took a different approch to eating today. I sat at the table, small bites, chewed slowly - instead of zoning out in front of the tv while I eat - that habit may be a huge part of my issues..

I look forward to seeing everyone's success!

not quite what I was hoping for as usually week 1 brings much higher numbers. However, TOM and all the stress and cravings it brings has struck me with vengeance this weekend, so any loss I will take as a great thing. I hold myself accountable for giving in to some temptations and It is a good reminder that this is work. No more excuses!

Boo. I've got some work to do this week. Was a little hopeful as the scale was down about 2 lbs mid week but yesterday I was feeling crampy and sure enough. My first TOM in TWO YEARS since I got pregnant with my last. Grr..

Oh well, I packed a sandwich bag full of carrots and 3 clemintines for snacks today. Hopefully more than I'll eat, but I figure eating a bag a carrots has got to be better than eating a bag of chocolate...

So my fast hasn't been going exactly as planned. I did have some meat over the weekend. For breakfast this morning I skipped my fruit and went with a veggie bowl which is fried onions, peppers, and mushrooms over homefries and scrambled eggs topped with cheddar cheese. OMG. I didn't even eat half though. It was so good though. I also had two slices of whole wheat toast. Now I am ready to get back on track for the day - including a workout at lunch time.

WOW ok guys we are doing fantastic!

So far, at 8am PST on the first weigh in, we have lost 43.8lbs collectively and only 17 of 45 of us have weighed in!

Almost in the 140's! Haven't seen those for almost a year and half. Had some trouble not eating enough last week - headaches are a late sign of hunger. I am just so excited to be eating well and not having carbo cravings, that I don't eat my snacks. Need to remind myself that I can still successfully lose weight without restricting my intake so much.

I also love the Monday weigh in. Went snowshoeing for 5 hours on Saturday, and couldn't wait to see the results. Kept me going in the cold, and I made dinner that night, even though I was exhausted.

I'm very proud of this weight loss! I just started on Jan 1st - AND I quit smoking at the same time - AND I had PMS this week. Whew! My body is in shock - for the better! I actually think I was on track for a better loss number until PMS hit over the weekend.

Well, I'm down 1 pound. Sorry for the late weigh in. I've been a crazy person lately. We've had snow here. My exercise classes started this week so that's been good but I'm way incredibly sore. I'm surprised that I lost any b/c stupid TOM came and I've been compulsively eating EVERYTHING in my house, healthy or not. UGH! Here's to a better week this week!

Hi all

sorry for the late weigh in, have been really poorly (again!! just can't seem to shake this awful cold, it's here for a week then gone for a week. so infuriating!)

anyway,

186 / 0 / 186 - I'm happy with this as I've been feeling rotten and not paying too much attention to my cals (and little or no exercise)!

Just a note, I'm on holiday now until 1 Feb :carrot:, so won't weigh in for the next two weeks. Let's see how I do! It's a snowboarding holiday, so the exercise could bode well, but it's a big group holiday in the US, and I hear the food is so goooood, that could be my undoing... Ah well, I'm planning to kick it back into touch after the holiday, and I've worked really hard for this break so I'm not going to be worrying about beating myself up while I'm away. But I am going to try to make sensible choices, and I've volunteered to be the designated driver which will help with the booze intake! ;)

Really hoping to shake this cold before I fly on Saturday though, as I have horrible blocked ears and that is going to HURT in the pressurised cabin!! :(

Some of you really have been doing well!!! I empathize with those in bad weather. Atlanta has been shut down much of the week. To make matters worse, I flew back in from Denver just in time for the bad weather, and got stuck in the airport overnight - with a baby nonetheless! So considering that I was traveling part of last week and ate nothing but airport food for 24 hours, I am pleased that my weight didn't change much. Now, I just need to get my exercise going and keep reading some of your wonderful weight loss stories to keep me motivated.

Weight loss to date (well, as of yesterday morning) - 0.3 lbs.

Hmm... I do fairly well during the week only to undo things over the weekend. I started this challenge at 213.5, reported a .3 drop last week, and this morning, I'm 213 even. I suppose I should be happy that the scale is moving down, but it's just not happening fast enough. The Wii said I gained 1 lb since my last weigh in only 4 days ago.

Oh well.

At this rate, I'll be lucky to lose 5 lbs by the summer.

I'm still fighting the sinus infection for the 3rd week. The doc added another med to the antibiotic, med, and nasal spray I was already on. So I'm basically doped up right now - LOL :-)
I haven't been working out at all because I don't want to get over-heated. I'm hoping to walk at a slow pace on the treadmill every night this week. That way I'll get some exercise in without making myself have a coughing fit. It won't be a great workout but it's better than sitting on the couch!

Birthday week. Was doing so good, but kind friends had a cake made and dinner for me. Hard to say no to a 'gift'. Didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Busted butt to make sure I didn't gain. I'm not happy with a 0, but I'll take it over a gain any day.

well, I'm back from holiday and this week's weigh in is (drumroll please)

I'm actually really happy with this, as the food that we ate while away was extraordinarily good (why oh why do I live on THIS SIDE of the Atlantic!?) but, yes, 1lb up, which I'm guessing will come off pretty swiftly now I'm back into the swing of things, is no big deal. Could have been MUCH worse, and I had a great time and didn't worry about what I could and couldn't eat. :)

Ah well, onwards and - er - downwards!!

First gain of the challenge, and I can't say I didn't see it coming. Had four meals this weekend where I overindulged. In previous weeks, I was pleasantly surprised that I could have a couple weekend meals of questionable eating and still post a lost. Looks like 4 meals off doesn't work so well. Now I know what my limits are, and that feels almost as good as a loss.

Today is the day I get back to work and back on plan. Which means I think I am going to call fiance and ask him if he would mind if I cancel our dinner reservations for tonight. Bummer!
