Well, here goes nothing! When I first decided to make a lifestyle change and get healthier, I took my measurements. I was astonished to find out I was almost as big around as I was tall. I am not very tall, only 5'4.5". At that time weighed 270 lbs, hips were-62" and waist(after I found it) was- 49". Well today I measured myself again, and I weigh 252.5, hips are-56.5" and waist is 44.5", so I guess I really can see a difference. No one here is going to scold or belittle you for giving your measurements, but if you are not comfortable giving them out, Don't! It is up to you!

This is a far cry from that cute 36-26-36 body I used to have as a young teenager. :cry:

These numbers are going to go DOWN DOWN DOWN!! :smug:

I have to get rid of these humungous breasts!! (sorry dh) :lol:

Well I am not good with the whole measuring tape thing, but mine are:
height - 5'1"
weight - the scale just said a bloated 159
hips - 43ish
waist - 39ish
chest - 39ish

I still have Friday and I'm too busy with work, no time to get there...meeting at 9:00am and clients until 9:00pm...tired just thinking about it.

They'll measure me there and I'll may or may not report in depending on my whim at the moment ;)

Ellis, where are you and where is that tape measure...I never mailed you the kitchen pictures but I will get them in an envelope and post them this weekend and if you need a tape measure let me know, I'll throw one of those in too......:s:

height... not sure... it's either 5'-2" or 5'-4" Hopefully I'm wrong, and it's 5'-6"
weight...192 (gained 7 pounds since I joined this damned forum)
hips... 48.5
waist... 40.5
chest... 44 (sports bra... a little tight, but it's got holes in the sides, so... )
thigh...27 (good grief! That used to be my waist size!)
face... 22 (under nose and across fat cheeks)
big toe on right foot... 3.5 (including corn)
around body at chest including fat arms... 53 (this is a VERY important measurement, girls. I don't know if you realize it, but it's the TOTAL amount of space you're taking up that makes you look fat.)

Hey! This is such a good idea! Sojo, was this YOUR idea!? It's great!! geez, I can't believe how fat I am.

Okay, where the heck are the rest of you with your measurement? Huh? What's the hold-up? And some of you girls who've already posted have missed a few measurements. Like Sojo... where's your thigh?
And Wanto... where is your chest?

Wrist 6.75 - that's the left before the operation
Forearm 10.5
Upper Arm 12.5
Neck - 16 - OMG! Godzilla!
Bust - 46
- I am a 42 DD bra - hmmmmm
Waist - 42 - hardly a waist!
Hip - 46
Thigh - 26 - that's just one, OK?
Calf - 17.75
Ankle - 11 - puffy today

I didn't measure my big toe or across my face! I'll do the space filling one later.

Now that you've got the first set of measurements, do this:

1. Cut a ribbon to the current measurement and mark the date and what body part on it.
2. Use it for measuring after you've lost some weight
3. Either cut a new ribbon to the new measurement or cut a snip off the beginning one.

I am going to use different ribbons and hang them on my closet door. I'll focus on the waist first.

On the other hand, why not use licorice whips and eat the snipped off parts. :devil:

LindaBC on the low carb board posted this idea a year or so back.

Ok so I measured my thigh - which by the way is my least favorite part of my body, is 27 1/2. (and yes thats just one of them) Any fat not in my boobs or butt would be there.

neck is 13ish
calf - 15
ankle -10
face - 19

all the way around - 48

This IS liberating, Sojo! I can't wait to check them again in a month or so (is that too soon?). Someone told me it's a bad way to measure yourself in terms of weight, but she's practically slim, and when you're as fat as I am, the numbers are going to show the loss!
Wildfire, if I take the effort to get rid of the corn, I may lose half an inch on my toe. :D

Ellis, I am going to take my measurements once a week to get a better picture of my progress. The scale alone isn't able to tell you if you are gaining muscle and losing fat... but the tape measure will show those types of losses.

I am thrilled to report that those measurements are going down! Here are my changes in the last 20 days:

Weight 193: down 5 lbs
Neck: 14" same
Shoulders: 46" down 1"
Biceps: 15" same
Forearms: 11" same
Chest: 44" down 2" :D
Waist: 36" down 1 1/2"
Hips: 47 1/2" down 1"
Thighs: 28 1/2" down 1/2"

girls. sorry I haven't been back in here in awhile. Just read all of your posts. Ellis, you are too're measuring your face???? all the way around your head? You crack me up girlfriend.

I did get remeasured at the gym but they keep the stats there. I'll copy them when I'm there and post them here.

Ruth...I feel that we are spiritual sisters. I cram mine into a 42DD also. I can't remember but I'd bet the circumference of that area is more than 42...
I promise not to get started on my boobs thread is enough.
I really like the ribbon idea.

Soozie, if you could see the fat on my face you'd know why I measured it. I wake up every morning and look in the mirror and think, "Who the **** is THAT?!"

I'm not measuring again until next week. These are troubled times.

I will say this: I was in a size 44DD bra for the last 5 years, just about. Saturday @ Kohl's I tried on a 42D & it fit like a dream--in fact, I'm wearing it right now!

As for the rest of me, uh, yeah. Maybe someday, not today.

Well, despite the fact that I am the ONLY one doing this... (where is ELLIS?), here are my new measurements after two weeks:

Weight: 191 (today) down 7 pounds total :)
Neck: 14" same
Shoulders: 45" down 1", total down 2"
Biceps: 15" same
Forearms: 11" same
Chest: 36" down 1/2", total down 2"
Bust (with bra): 43" down 1", total down 3" :lol:
Waist: 35 1/2", down 1/2", total down 2"
Hips: 47", down 1/2", total down 1 1/2"
Thighs: 28", down 1/2", total down 1"
Calves: 16" same
Largest Circumference: 52", same, total down 2"

I am happy to see that these numbers continue to go down! Any other brave souls out there?

Hello all, my weight is back down from last night. I am 249 again/starting 270- down 21 lbs
Waist 43"/starting 49"
Hips 56 1/2"-starting 62"
Bust started out in a 44 bra, now wear 42 or 40 in my sports bra
Bicep flexed 14 1/2", getting firmer, no idea what it was before, but flabby
Thigh 24 1/2
calves-16 1/2 and starting to see some nice shape.
My size 46 pants are falling off my *** but I still wear them yet, just to make myself feel good.

was - 39ish, but after confering with the boy this has to have been wrong. My boobs and waist are NOT the same size. (Told you I was a sadist - I actually discussed my measurements with him)

thigh -
was - 27 1/2
now - 26 1/2

neck - 13ish - same

calf -
was - 15
now - 16!! It was not suppose to get bigger

height = 5.3 1/2 yes the 1/2 inch counts;)
chest = 39 inches
waist = 33 inches

Around bra strap area(under boobs) 41"
Across center of nips and around-47 1/2"
Bicep (flexed) 14"
Neck- 14 1/2"
Upper Thigh- 26 1/2" Lower thigh- 22 1/4" and makor muscle happenin there.
Knee- 16"
Calves- 17 1/4" Can actually see muscles in my calves
Ankles- 9 3/4"
So there you have it! I did not measure my face or big toe, but you get the picture!

Thank you everyone. (Takes a bow) I really did not have a good week last week, but made a mojor change in my life today so hopefully things will begin to fall into place. I finish off this week at work, am off for two weeks and start a different job in January. It was very hard saying goodbye to my employers and friends, but it had to be done and they understood.

C'mon Chickies! Grab your tape measures and liberate yourselves! Why am I the only one recording these lovely measurements?? Think how great you will feel when you measure yourself again at Easter and can see that the inches have disappeared.

Weight 181 1/2 lbs (down 16 1/2 pounds!) :cp:

I was lurking around and I saw your mesurements. Good work.

I do measure, but only once a month. I posted my measures in my 3FC journal. You are pretty funny measuring your neck and shoulders. How do you measure your shoulders? I have a measurement called teh "FAt Belly". I have always had a fat belly just below my belly button. I measure right in the middle of it and the measure goes right around to the back top part of my butt that I call..."the ham hocks".

Yes, I have a fat belly measurement too... although I didn't post it! Right now its about two inches more than my waist measurment. LOL. For shoulders I measure about two inches down from my the top of my shoulders. That and the "largest circumference" measurement are very important... as they really are how big people perceive you. Someone suggested the largest circumference measurement... measure the largest point around your body... probably around the breast area, including the arms. This is how much space you take up in the world!
