I really liked the challenge that Matt H posted last year so I thought I'd continue it.

Welcome to the 2011 weight loss challenge!

Basically, you "sign up" by making a post here with placeholders for each month of the year, such as this (or you can tailor the dates to the day of the week that you weigh-in):

I think I'm going to track body fat % as well as weight. I'm starting the year around 11% body fat and ~180 pounds. I'd like to be in the 170s but with 6-8% body fat.

Lost a total of 50 pounds in 2010. Should be 55, bit gained 5 back over the holidays.

My goal is to reach a healthy BMI this year. In 2010 I lost about 2/3rds of the weight I needed to but the pounds are coming off slower now. But I know I can do it!

June 1st - i didn't weigh in this month

I lost about 50lb in 2010, but I've been stuck around 240 for a few weeks. Ready to move on in 2011! I plan to lose another 65lb in 2011. I'd like to reach goal weight of 175lb by the end of the year. Best of luck to everyone!!

mini-goals...
January 1st (2011 starting weight): 241lb
February 1st - 230.5lb (10 down, 55 to go!)
March 1st - 226lb (15 down, 51 to go!)
April 1st - 222lb (19 down. And I starting exercising; walked/jogged 33miles in March.)
May 1st - 220lb (21lb down, rough month. I've been in the 220s for 13 weeks now!! ugh. But I did walk/jog my first 5k in April and at a personal best time!)
June 1st - 218lb (23lb down for the year. Still feeling stuck. But I jog/walked my first sub-10minute mile AND jogged an entire mile straight in 10:30 without walking!)
July 1st - 214lb (27 down, 39 to go. Better month. And I'm up to an hour on the elliptical/treadmill for 5 miles total. And I can jog 2.5 miles straight without walking!)
August 1st - 210.5lb (30.5 down, 36.5 to go. Recovery after bouncing back up to 220 in mid-July. Last couple of good/easy weeks of eating. No cravings/difficulites!)
September 1st - 212lb ugh. stuck.
October 1st - 206lb. (I've decided that I can't force loss anymore. My body is gonna do what it wants! When it isn't very hungry, I'll take advantage, but I'm not gonna stress if I get stuck for 2-4 weeks at a weight. If it lasts longer, then I'll get serious.)
November 1st - 185lb
December 1st - 179lb
December 31st - 175lb

I'm so late this year! Last year I started one of these but didn't follow through with it. I am embarrassed to admit that but there's nothing I can do about it now. This year started out very bad for me due to family health issues amongst other things and didn't even think of this place.. but now everyone in my family is back to normal and so am I. Hey ladies (and gents). For a little summer encouragement I thought I'd post what we've lost to date. This was quick and dirty, so it may not be 100% accurate due to duplicate posts (I caught a few but didn't look hard enough to catch them all).

Anyhow, thus far we have lost approximately (drumroll please).... 1,030 pounds!!!!

You're all a bunch of rockstars, keep it up!

Oh, and please remember to EDIT your original post rather than creating a new post for each weigh-in. This helps to keep the thread from getting out-of-control-huge!

Hi, everyone. I weigh in on Wednesday and forgot to post in here. I was 176.0, so that's down 5.8 pounds since the first Wednesday in July. I was stalled at 176 for a while, but I'm hoping for a loss by next WI. We'll see. Here's to a great August!

I maintained through August which I'm pretty proud of considering I got a severe sinus infection, and then had to deal with packing/moving/unpacking... so i'll call it a victory! onward towards getting back to my low of 248 and beyond!

Hi, everyone. I had a pretty good month, especially considering that I had a family wedding and a 9 day camping (in a cabin) vacation. I was 176.0 on August 3rd and 167.6 on September 7th. This was a 5 week month for me since I only weigh in on Wednesday.

The best part is that I LOST while camping! I was 171 the Wed before we left (we camped from 8/27 to 9/5) and I didn't weigh in while we were gone. Today I was 167.6, so I lost 3.4 pounds in 2 weeks, but 9 of the 14 days were filled with the most fantastic tempting food! And I behaved and managed to stay OP and happy. We rent cottages about 20 miles from home on Lake Erie. About 8 or 10 families from my circle of friends. We've done this for years and have a ball. Camp fires, cards, friends, food. LOTS of food. We had 2 Thanksgiving dinners. Steak night. Italian night. I'm counting this as a NSV - yes, the scale went down. But better than that, I know no one had any more fun than I did, and I didn't let the food control my vacation. Proof that it's not the food that makes the good times. It's the company.

I'm in Angie's Thanksgiving challenge and will probably pretty much say the same things in there, so sorry if you have to read this twice! I was just thrilled today when I got on the scale and saw it had gone down!

Congrats to all - we are all doing our best to change to healthy lifestyles. That's the best we can do for ourselves. Let's keep up the great work.

It is a shock to realize it's already December. This has been a real year of learning for me. In January I decided I had to lose weight. I didn't find this forum until May. I lost 90 pounds of the 100 I set as a goal in January before I decided that 90 was going to be enough until I got used to the loose skin. Or until the skin changed a bit and then I'll decide again. I learned SO much about myself and about how others lose weight.

I learned I could change the way I think about food.
I learned I could modify my eating habits.
I learned I can maintain (at least for 2 months!)
I learned it's OK to set a goal and then change it.
I learned it's OK to be less than perfect.
I learned it's OK to be a little bit vain.
I learned I have a lot of friends in here who understand and will offer support as needed.
I learned I'll get a kick in the rear if I need it from the same friends in here who offer support.

In all, this has been a very good year.

Goodbye 2011... Hello 2012.... :carrot:

It really was a very good year for me. I lost 54.5 pounds in 2011, which isn't speedy by any means, but it's a nice loss. Both my blood pressure and cholesterol levels fell to healthy numbers within the first two months of adding exercise to my plan this summer.

I do look better, but what I'm most excited about is how much better I feel... My energy level has gone up and I can do things now that I haven't been able to do for years. I'm really looking forward to seeing what changes the next 43 pounds bring!

Hopefully I'll hit goal by the end of 2012, but at this point my focus is on improvement and isn't time based, so as long as I make progress this year I'll be happy.

Wishing everyone here much success in the coming year!
