Default Blizzard coming!

There's a blizzard headed this way tomorrow night. Could lead to power outages, and all the food in my house is stuff that needs to be made into meals (i.e. no PB&J or crackers.)

So, my plan is to make some rice, cook some chicken and veggies, hard boil some eggs, and then I can just eat those cold if we lose power.

I've got my flashlights charging, my candles located, some extra blankets out and the snow shovel ready. Lots of APs to be earned there!

Although I hope it passes quickly and quietly with less snow and no power outage.

Major "duh!" moment - just realized I have a gas stove and can cook if we lose power. And can bake some bread and curl up next to it to keep warm if I have to.

Did you get hit? I was in North Jersey and left very early on Sunday and I apparently JUST missed it. Thankfully, DC got a minimal amount of snow...

My town isn't too bad. Power never went out, thankfully. Some snow, it looks heavy and slushy. I'm on the coast so it was rain here for some of the night. Friends inland got 2 feet. Lots of trees down in surrounding towns. Heading out to scrape the car off and shovel then maybe snow shoe.

I'm in Central Jersey.....it is a mess!! Well over a foot and horrible winds. I hope we don't lose power. Other than that I'm staying put. There is NO good reason to be on the roads unless there is an absolute emergency.

We got the weirdest message from my office in Stamford, CT last night, saying that the office would be open on Monday, but that no one should come in unless absolutely necessary.

So I'm working from home on my laptop.

The wind & snow have been unlike any storm I've seen since moving here in summer 2009. I had snow come in through my wall-unit airconditioner. The drifts are very tall but there are areas around them that are almost bare, based on the wind pattern. I have a waist-high drift against the French doors that lead to my patio, but the patio itself is clear down to the ground. Half my car is snowed in & half just looks dusted. From inside, it is impossible for me to tell just how bad it is.

Local news is reporting 15 inches fell in my village.

A town near me is having a terrible time. a 100 foot section of seawall broke, and caused massive flooding which lead to an electrical fire in a basement, so now houses are flooded and burning. It's a area of town where houses are quite close together, so they are trying to prevent the fire from spreading. Another town near me lost their 911 service, so my town is covering, and I guess half my town has lost power.

Feeling so lucky and thankful now.
