Heeeheee - I went on my first run to the thrift store today (well, first run for clothing anyway), and I found a cute black boatneck sweater that felt super soft for 99 cents (along with a nice red top and black slacks). Didn't recognize the brand. Got home, noticed the tiny label said 100% cashmere on the back, checked the brand online - It was James Perse Los Angeles, and their sweaters retail for $175-$350! They do the weird 0-4 sizes, instead of small through xl, so I'm guessing everyone just walked past it, but I had brought my measuring tape due to suggestions found on these boards - thanks 3FCs :D

Sounds like you have a great outfit, even tho I am at goal I can't resist going into the thrift store once in awhile, I have made some great buys there.

Yay! I *love it! Nothing better. The only thing better than finding a great piece of clothing is finding it at Goodwill for 3 bucks..and you beat that by a lot. Good job!

I love thrift stores! They have been invaluable in helping me beef up my wardrobe without breaking the bank while I've been losing weight.

A few weeks ago I found a really awesome long wool coat for $14, but more recently I really hit the jackpot when I stumbled into a Goodwill near an expensive private school here...everything was from J. Crew, Banana Republic, and other similar name brands! It was crazy! I got a couple of cashmere sweaters for $3.99 each. I can't wait to go back:)

eBay is my thrift shop.

(But one of my resolutions for the New Year is to severely curtail my shopping.)

I really need to find out where the good thrift stores are around here. You guys are getting some amazing deals!

I love the thrift stores too ( Known as charity shops in the UK)
Not been very good at getting clothes as sizewise they don't seem to have much that suits me but have gotten quite a few things like my collection of little ornamental ducks and geese, plus soft toys that I love, especially those with a squidgy tummy!

a lot of thrift stores just put out the local stuff they collect so it's worth it to drive to richer areas.

I cannot WAIT to go on my thrift store shopping spree!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the things that you can find there. I will never buy jeans from a regular store again unless they're those special edition jeans like Express used to have every Christmas season. I just can't see spending over $3 for jeans anymore!

There's such a variety and I'm a very "retro" dresser (I've been told, I guess I just like the style) so it's easy to find things I like a lot there.

However, there will be other stores on my tour. But not for jeans!

I hope I come across a extremely good find like yours!

The best is finding things in your size with the tags still on. I love that feeling. I've bought clothes I probably wouldn't even wear just because the tag was still on.

I bought my Christmas shirt from Goodwill this year. It was cheaper than paying my friend to mail last years down from her house and it looked super cute. I'm lucky. There's a Goodwill within walking distance from my house. Or is that unlucky since they always have great stuff.

a lot of thrift stores just put out the local stuff they collect so it's worth it to drive to richer areas.

That's definitely Goodwill's policy. I have gone to 5 or 6 different ones and found better stuff near Lake Norman than Statesville. The one thing that surprises me is that the Lake Norman store is priced higher too for household goods. I now only go there for clothes.
