Looking Good, Feeling Great - Help with mom and son photos please

I have an appointment next week for me and my 5-year-old son to take family pics. It's not a holiday or special occasion photo, just something I wanted to do because we've never taken professional pics together (though he has tons by himself) and I'm close to goal. I need help. I really want us both to wear red shirts and dark blue jean pants. Do you all think a white background would look good with this? Or would a black background look better? Does this sound like everything would match? I want to go for something "casual cute." Thoughts?

I am no photographer but I think a white background might be a bit bland. I always love looking at photos where everyone is wearing jeans and white shirts. This was probably no help to you though lol

I think it'd be cute. I wouldn't go with the black if I was wearing darkwash jeans...but that's just me. The white I think would look best.

The photographer should be very experienced at what looks best with what. He/she might also give examples of what looks like what.

I think if you're going to do
a white background then have
the photographer take some
black and white photos. That
would look so good.

Thanks! I'll talk with the photographer about it before. I'm not stuck on the white background, I just want the background to be clean. No fake trees or anything like that.

If you're American, the combination with the white background may look very patriotic. Which is fine if that's what you want. A white background often really helps keep focus on the subject. Light blue could also look nice.

Ha! I didn't even think of that. We did end up doing red shirts, dark blue jeans and a white background. I think it looks good. I'll know for sure when the photos come back. Thanks again to everyone!
