Hi Everyone! I have been wanting to get my mileage up and thought it would be fun to log miles on 3FC! The goal is to get 365 miles in 365 days. You can walk, jog, or run them:) whatever you can do! This challenge is to help get us more active and to encourage others to keep going! Anyone can be a part of it, regardless of what activity level you are on. Each step counts!

I'm doing the couch to 5k and should be complete with it Mid-January and thought it would be fun to have a fun goal to work towards!

Who is up for challenge? You can track your miles with any form of exercise you use!
Jogging, Walking, Wii, Exercise Dvds, Biking, or even swimming. If i left anything out, then you can use that too!!

I made a spreadsheet so we can track our group totals too for the year!

Oh I love this! I'll do- but let's start Jan. 1. I am only going to count miles I run or walk. Not all my other workout as it is my goal to train myself to run. Specifically I want to be able to run 2 miles.

An average of 7 miles a week is soooo doable! :) Jan 1st will probably be the best time to start it up! Won't be focusing on running come this weekend with the holidays coming up and everything. I want to get moving in 2011 and become somewhat of an athlete..lols! Happy y'all are joining!!

I will do it. I need some sort of fitness motivation because I have been pretty lax on the exercise. I have good excuses (working full time, full time grad student, plus mom), but they're still excuses. I can fit in a mile a day I think.

I logged 2.20 miles today! Woohoo! Starting the new year off right.

I put a place in a my signature that i plan on updating each time i log miles:)

The weather was somewhat cold, maybe 55 degrees, but i bought some under armor heat pants to wear under my shorts and it kept me pretty warm and didnt overheat me. I like running outside, its much different than running on the treadmill. I love mixing it up though:):dizzy:

I'm revising my goal for 2011. I am having real problems with my knee (meniscis?) so I want to be realistic in my goals. I know I need to have rest days, but I still want to take part here. Setting goals here will help me keep active and winning at losing. :) My goals will be
12 miles per week,
624 miles total for the year.

3 miles today, 621 to go.

Lol Court...yeah, I guess I got used to posting that way! hehehehe...Vixsin needs to get over here too! :)

I tallied my miles for last year since I started my weight loss journey. From August to December I had 260 miles logged! But it wasn't every day. I want to commit to 1 mile a day regardless of what I do extra! Its that habit of doing it that I am in pursuit of! :)

We have Walk Away The Pounds. It's kind of a group DVD, I'm not sure who it belongs to. I am going to do it every day that I'm at work, just to get SOMETHING in, but I am already pretty non-challenged by the hardest one on there, so I know I need to amp up the working out. I'm able to talk through the whole thing. This weekend we'll get the treadmill set up at home and hopefully that will help.

I don't usually walk/jog two days in a row bc I'm pooped the next day after c25k but th Hubbie wanted to do the c25k bc he is amazed that it has worked for me:) lol. So I went to the track tonight to support him. We actually started the program together but I kept going and he got busy. Haha. He did week 3 and I walked 1.50 miles in the meantime. Kinda sore after the 4 miles yesterday..but glad I did it!!

What a day! All I can do is really laugh... I went to bed late, and had to get up too early, and clumsy me? Tripped and stubbed 3 of my smallest toes, and think 2 of them are broken!! Hurts to walk :( I was super excited to do this challenge too. Hopefully when the swelling comes down tomorrow I'll find out they were just severely sprained and sore from working 9 hours today. Cross your fingers for me!

Sparrow: Thanks! I am doing the C25K running program..lol. Its working out pretty great. The loss that I have on my tracker is basically from that program and calorie counting. Whats crazy is i have never lost weight so easily as an adult and actually enjoyed it as much, no deprivation or anything:) I am thankful for C25K because I know my success has been because ive been jogging my booty off!

I am excited for us all! I know we are going to do this!!

Today starts a new week for me. I don't usually do well on weekends (read: no exercise) but this past weekend I actually did move my body! I could have done better, but it is a work in progress. This weekend will be better. At this point, everyday I have to remind myself that I need to put in my mile. Lately, the end of the day will catch me by surprise. It will be 9:30 and I will realize I haven't run yet. This is terrible because I stay wide awake after exercising and I feel so very tired the next day! :(

I look forward to the day where I get home, put on my shoes and jump on the treadmill. That it becomes automatic. I do it sometimes, but then family stuff will sometimes need to be taken care of and then I am up again too late trying to get it in! I hope I can match last weeks' mileage!

Yesterday I did W7.D1 of c25k and i was so incredibly sluggish!! I dunno what the deal was! I had to push through 20 min. Which was so hard! I don't know if I just ate to many carbs this past weekend or what the deal was.

I went 2.31 miles! The hardest jog I've ever struggled through.

:) You are allowed to do anything that racks up milage, as far as I know! Brrrr....I do Leslie Sansone and that is walking in place (although, I sometimes run through it!), so I don't see why using the Wii would be any different.

Yeah, it gets chilly! I'm glad the Wii's ok, cause I went and did a mile on my Wii before getting an answer. I'll do a little more later though. Another mile perhaps? lol

Leah: I've been Mia too!! First with TTOM and now I have some sort of bacterial infection and was told to take it easy. :) boo! And yes she is goofy but I love her energy, she's happy to be there moving her body!

I'm going to start my c25k week 8 on Monday! I'm almost a graduate. This week has been horrible but I have realized weeks like this will happen! I'm proud of you all! I want to be over 30 miles by feb 1, I have some catchup to do for sure! Hope u all have a happy healthy weekend:)

Okay, I need to make a plan for the rest of the month. Let's see if I can live up to it. I am aware that it's really hard for me to do every day, but my goal is to be caught up at the end of the month. And I'm counting each month separately. Like, if I do 37 miles in January (unlikely at this point), the extra 6 will count for my total for the year but I will start fresh at 0 for February and have to get at least 28 miles for February.

CutieCourt --- I have NO idea how you are doing all that you are doing right now! I am a stay-at-home mom and trying to make time to exercise is messing with MY schedule, and I hardly have a schedule. I bet you find the c25k will kick your miles up pretty fast. Just keep the habit going!

Rachel --- first let me say MY GOD YOU ARE SO CLOSE TO GOAL AND LOOK AT HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU HAVE LOST! Yessssss! And I like you idea of starting each month fresh will no roll-over, so I think I will have to copy you. 10 days left ... I bet you hit 31 without any problem.

Oooookay --- I have definitely identified a problem and I will call it The Weekend. Stay up late, eating schedule out the window and exercise is the last thing that gets done. I am going to have to work to get enough miles this month.

Rachel: My son is a junior in high school, so really not a factor in my regime (unless you count chauffeuring duty ;) ), but your advice makes sense for younger kids. Good job on keeping those miles coming!

LeslieWendy: I'm sorry that 4-mile walk got you, but if you never push the envelope then I guess you never know what you can really do. I am really impressed by the progress you are making on what seems to me to be a whole lotta miles in a month.

JustErin: Yeah, it can be a real pain finding shoes that work. I'm glad the new ones magically appeared at your door (shades of Cinderella? how cute WAS that UPS fella?) and that you can keep going without injury.

My goal for myself was 31 miles in January - a mile a day.

I started out doing that... and a couple weeks in, my mom encouraged me to join her on her walks which were 3 miles. I was doing really good... beat my goal in fact.

I reached 39 miles last week. Then I hurt my knee.

I haven't done any miles this week at all. So I'm counting my blessings that I got 39 miles in before that happened, which has allowed me to take a break and let my knee heal.

February is around the corner, and I intend to get back to walking, even if it's slow and steady. A mile done is a mile done, even if it's not at the pace I was doing it before my injury.

I want 365 miles this year. I think I can do it.

I am hoping to get 3.25 miles in today so that I just owe 10 miles and make them up in February. I'm not letting myself carry over a balance month to month, but I do have to carry over a debt. If I do 1.5 miles per day in February, that will more than catch me up. Ugh.

AWESOME JOB LADIES ON MEETING YOUR GOALS!!!! IM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

This month (Feb) I have to really push and even work extra because i was some miles short of my goal (5.25 exactly). I keep getting sick! Yest i was going to run and woke up and had a stomach flu, today i stayed home from work for the same thing!!!

Hope everyone is have a good February and I can't believe that it is more than have way through.
My winter came back with a vengeance, don't have much to complain about since I don't live in the snow, but I don't like the wind (40mph gusts :eek:) So I couldn't walk outside yesterday, hopefully the rain will hold off for an hour or so today so I can, although it hailed about 5 minutes ago.

Hey everyone! You are all doing awesome! I am a tad behind in total miles for the year, but I am still VERY proud of myself. I have 48.69 done for the year which is HUGE for me! I have had 2 injuries that required I take some time off. This week though, I am on track for an 11 mile week! That's great for me, especially since I am only running 4x a week! Woohoo!!!

Courtney - Do you have a dailymile account? If you don't I would recommend that you set one up. One of the nicest features that they have is a GPS tracking thing. Basically it takes google maps and allows you to mark where you ran, and then it tallies the miles up for you. It would be a great back up if your Nike + doesn't work for you. So sorry it messed up!!!

justErin: I use nike+ to track all my runs/walks. I have the sensor in my nike frees and it connects wirelessly to my iphone! Its pretty friggin awesome! I thought about doing daily mile but i never really walk anywhere cool, just around the track or on a treadmill. :)

I remember seeing this thread back when it started and thinking "Yeah, right, 365 miles?!?" But I started really walking at the end of February, adding some jogging in gradually, and now (June) I'm jogging more than I'm walking (though not by much!). And I see that the 365 mile goal is totally possible. I'm in! It'd be good to have some extra motivation... Thanks!!

So, not a great start to June in terms of making this a regualr habit, but... I'm soooo excited that I ran my first sub-10minute mile yesterday! I tried something new and walked at a 5% incline for a mile to start with. I felt so warmed-up without being wiped out by the cardio of running that I decided to haul butt for a mile and see what I could do. So I jogged a mile with hardly any walking in 9:50!! Motivation to get back to the gym tomorrow!

March 2011: 39 miles (includes miles spent walking to, through, and from Disneyland for a weekend -- looking back, I don't think that should really count :))
Apr 2011: 21 miles

15: 3.25 mi (and my very first full-jog mile, no walking breaks at all!)
20: 3.4 mi (walked .8 @ 5% incline. Jogged the next 2 MILES @ 5.5mph with a 1/16 miles walk break. Didn't intend to got he full 2 miles, but kept puching after each 1/4 mile!! Did a 0.6 cool down walk.)
22: 3.3 mi (Met with a trainer who suggested the elliptical machine -- HARD! But good to work other muscles. I pushed myself to complete 25min. He also suggested that I cardio for 45-60 minutes for fat-burning... so I walked another 20 minutes at a 5% incline.)
25: 4.5 mi (Did weight exercises, then elliptical for 30minutes - easier with a magazine, and then the treadmill for 30min. Walked a bit of the 2.5mi to warmup and cool down, but jogged the middle 2 miles in 22 minutes. Was so in the zone -- felt like I could have jogged forever, but thought an hour of cardio was enough! And my HR was 15-20 beats lower than normal peak! What the heck? Wish I could duplicate every time!)
27: 4.75 mi (2.25mi on the elliptical in 30 minutes -- found a machine that tracks miles, and 2.5mi on the treadmill -- walked 1/4, jogged 2mi @ 5.5mph, walked 1/4. And did the strength exercises!)
30: 4mi (1.75 on the elliptical in 20min and 2.25 on the treadmill in 25. And 1.5miles of that was completed in 15minutes! That 6mph was tough though!)

I started incorporating other exercise (dancing, swimming - now that it's hot) and the walking has fallen to the back burner... but I'm really close to 365, even though I'm not doing nearly as much walking as before.... maybe I'll have to just challenge myself to a number of minutes of exercise, instead of miles after I've reached the 365... hmmm..

Thanks Courtney, but I really only straight jogged a mile of the 5k! I had other joggin stretches, but fewer walking breaks than normal... And I followed up with a 2 mile jog this week. But still no 5k jog... soon hopefully!

And Sabrina, I'm having the same miles vs. minutes prob now that the gym guy suggested the elliptical... the one I use doesn't track miles! What to do?!?!? :D

I'm back after 2 weeks off... why oh why did I stop going to the gym??!?! No idea. Wasn't busy, wasn't stressed, wasn't depressed... Was. Just. Plain. Lazy. Boo!

Nice consistency Sabrina!! And I can't believe you already hit 365miles!!! Way to go!!

Jan 2011: None
Feb 2011: 11 miles (started 2/21/11)
March 2011: 39 miles (includes miles spent walking to, through, and from Disneyland for a weekend -- looking back, I don't think that should really count )
Apr 2011: 21 miles
May 2011: 27 miles
June 2011: 30.5 miles
July 2011:

1 - 14: Nada15: 1.25 on elliptical and 1.75 on the treadmill. Slow, short and difficult.
17: 1.5 on elliptical in 20min. 3mi on treadmill in 36min. (2.5 miles done in 28 minutes, the rest was walked. Beginning and end a bit, 2 short (1/8 mile) walk breaks in running. Still not up to snuff, but way better than last attempt!)
19: 2.33 on elliptical in 30 min. 2.25 on treadmill in 25min. 0.5 cooldown walk. (Nearly back to good. The elliptical was easy peasy tonight -- odd. The treadmill was tougher, but I pushed and was able to jog a full 2.25mi. PR on distance jogged with out walk breaks! Pushing for a full 5k.)
27: 2 mi walk/jog to store and back. (Brother's wedding and famly visits kept me from the gym this last week... well, I LET them keep me from the gym this last week. Back on it tomorrow!)
28: 4mi walk/jog (Outdoors 48 min total, with 3.25 done at an 11 min mile. BTW, I do NOT recommened joggin residential streets on trash day.)

July total to date: 18.58mi
2011 total to date: 147mi

I almost have 100 miles....but hey I am pretty proud of that. I finally leveled up in Nike+!
I have been falling behind with my 365 BUT hoping to complete it. I am so proud of all you!! Wow, get it girls!!!

I REALLY wish I had a treadmill so I could log some miles inside the house during this ridiculous hot weather. I haven't been getting in any walking because it's just too darn hot outside! I'm still getting exercise - I've been swimming/doing water aerobics.. but I actually really miss the walking. :(

So hoping to get back to the walking soon. I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor because I think i acquired runners knee. Dont know how!!! He said i may need a cortisone shot because its been painful when i sleep! ANYWAY!! Just giving yall an update because I havent given up and I am soooo proud of you all! :) I will update soon!
