Default Budha's hand

I've never seen budha's hand (fingered citron) except on Iron Chef, but we found it in our grocery store the other day, so we bought one ($2.99 for a large hand - about 9 inches tall, and about 5 inches around, with tons of fingers. Very pretty, and smells SO GOOD.

It smells like lemon drops candy. Hubby is going to make lemon chicken with it

It looks so pretty, and smells so good, it would make a great centerpiece

I'm thinking of grating one of the fingers into some homemade lemonade or limeade.

That is one of the coolest things I have yet seen and I am going to haunt my local international foods market until I find this. I've never seen such a thing before; must've missed some Iron Chef episodes.

The "hand-ade" idea sounds good too!

We've been so busy that hubby never got around to making lemon beef, and we're leaving for Illinois on Wednesday or Thursday for Christmas with my family.

I did make the hand lemonade, and it was awesome. I used my Rocket/Bullet type blender to mix water, Crystal Light pink lemonade, a few ice cubes, and a small finger from the hand. Whirred it up, and made a lemonade slushy with it (OMG, it was so, so, so good. Like a cross between an ICEE/slurpee and a lemon-shakeup from the fair).

The flavor is surprisingly reminiscent of candy lemondrops. It's not really sour at all.

The pith is really mild, not bitter as with most citrus. I saved a couple fingers for lemonades, and sliced the rest of the hand into thin strips and popped them into bottles of vodka. In a few weeks, they should infuse the vodka with a really nice lemon flavor, and the citron strips can still be used in recipes.

I would definitely buy it again if the price is decent. I bet it would be delicious candied or made into marmalade (not diet-friendly, but delicious).
