Good Morning Chicks! I am SOOOOO far behind. I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. And, not doing too well on my plan. I need to do better as I've not lost anything in close to two months. I guess at least I'm not gaining, right? I've been up since 4:30 because I rolled over and my brain starting firing on all cylinders and I couldn't fall back to sleep.

Let's see if I can catch up on at least all the recent stuff.

Rhonda, I'm VERY familiar with Etsy. I've shopped there several times and really, really enjoy looking at the items there. So far, all my purchases have really been quality and I feel safe using PayPal there. The people on there are so creative. I wish I was, but I'm not. It's like having the most elite of craft shows available at one's fingertips. I just bought four of the most clever holders for the really large lottery tickets for Jim's christmas stocking. She had little ones on her website. I sent her an email.....they call it convos there...and she agreed to make me some custom ones in the larger size. I got all four and shipping for $15! I haven't seen them yet but I'm sure they'll be cute. I'm also shopping for a 5' x 5' quilt for my family room in french country blue and yellow colors. Believe it or not, I have about 5 or 6 to choose from. Please let me know when you get your store open. I'm not big on jewelry any more, and I can't wear sterling because I tarnish it the moment it touches my skin, but you never know when I need a gift. Good luck to you.

JoJo, I'm fascinated with the whole monarchy issue but I know I would HATE to live within one. I'm sorry this whole season is going to be so hard for you without your daughter. I wish there was something I could do to help except time is the only healer.

Mary Ann, I'm really happy to hear that you are pleased with your bedroom move and that you are settling in. Congratulations on your weight loss!

Nancy, sorry that Robin is struggling. I know how hard it is when one person of the couple is faltering. Jim and I are going through that now. I know I should be a big girl and be strong on my own, but it's not easy. Congratulations to you on continuing to lose despite his lack of commitment! Any news on the house sale? This would be a win win situation for both of you. I'm praying!

Sloan, take the losses where you can, even if the same ones. At least you are not losing ground permanently. Sooner or later, the motivation will strike and we will start to lose again. Even though I haven't been posting, I've been reading and I've definitely been praying for Vance. I hope they can get him on even keel quickly.

Sandra, I am so proud of you! You really sound like you are enjoying the play and the season and not taking advantage of the holiday time to overeat. You really should post the recent FB picture of yourself on here for the girls to see. You look adorable. I really need that top you are wearing. Where did it come from? Too cute!

I have Jenny today and I'll probably stay the same again. The counselor won't be happy but I'm satisfied. This is a real hard time of year for me to lose weight. Nothing big is happening this week so I should be ok.

I've finally finished my Christmas shopping for 11 people. Yesterday, I boxed and tissued all the gifts to ready them for wrapping. That's the part I hate the most so I'm glad it's done. Today is booked solid, as is tomorrow. I should be able to do the actual wrapping on Wednesday. I also have to make a batch of my special snowcap cookies to bring to a friend on Thursday. It's just a crazy busy time of the year.

Good Afternoon Ladies:)

Had lots of rain and wind last night and this morning I have moths all over my front windows & door. If they're not gone by 10AM I'm going out my sliding door as I don't want then flying to to my home.

I have to go to my reg doctor to pick up the forms and than go to the hospital to have a x ray of my knee.

Its in the 50's and tomorrow it will drop into the 30's again. I watched a movie called Nanny Mcphee and after I thought um!! maybe my grandson need her to straighten him out. He's such a brat comparing to the girls, they were never aloud to get away with the things he does.

VICKIE-Thanks for the new pages, thanks for the congrats also,I find that eating slowly and in portion sizes is helping me. Thinks will settle down for you Vickie as long as your maintaining that's a good thing. That's what happened to me also, I got up to go to the bathroom some time around 2ish and than laying there to find me getting up to ha swarm of moths all over my front door & windows. I just had a chance to sweep them off and some of them were sleeping. Not going to leave the front light on tonight.

Have to go and have my dinner and than go to the cemetery to visit my Leo,before I go down to my DD's on Tuesday.

Have a nice day

Hi All:

I started my day with the "Latin Heat" class at the gym, then did 30 minutes of weight lifting on my own. It's been a few weeks since I lifted any heavy weight, so I eased back into it.

I've been lax about posting, but this week looks much less busy. I'll go back and read everyone's posting from last week later today.

Right now, I'm watching the finches and the titmice at the bird feeders. This is the first winter that I've been here and had the feeders. I think having to break the ice on the bird bath every morning is going to get old fast. But, I'll do it in a loving spirit to keep my little babies happy.

I'm back to recording all my food intake, after getting haphazard about that. My weight keeps inching back up, and it is SO boring!

BBL,
Rhonda

Hey chickies! My friend got to come yesterday, and we painted a picture for a Christmas gift that she wanted to give. We had a great time drinking wine, painting, and having a "girls' night". We had a snow day today, so she spent the night. Today she decorated my dining room for me. She has an incredible knack to creating the most beautiful tablescapes and vignettes. I did not spend a dime, and my room looks like a million dollars!

Vickie, you are doing great with your Christmas shopping. I have only bought one gift! I guess the mood will eventually strike me, and I will get it all done. I'm really proud of you for hanging in there. Staying the same is progress!! How often in your life have you been frustrated and given up? You are still at it, and that is progress!!

Nancy, did I miss a post about your house? What's happening? Have they made an offer?

Maryann, sounds like you have just about gotten every thing in order. I hope you get some rest over the holiday, and don't get worn out before your surgery. Who will be staying with you while you recover?

Sandra, how did the play go? We are out of school today, and they have already canceled school for tomorrow due to snow. Woohoo! I love snow days.

Rhonda, when can we see some of your jewelry? I've got to get some bird feeders set out. We've got a couple of inches of snow, and the poor things need some seed.

I'm going to take a nap so I've got to go. I'll check back later.

Hi there, Chickies. What a treat getting to hear from each of you. I just got here from our CORE recipe thread on CORE soups. Saw some good recipes but got sad seeing most were posted by former Chickies. I miss those ladies and wish they would return.

Vickie, thank you for the compliment on the photo. You know how I am, though. I want it to look better. Maybe some day I'll be happy; however, I do admit the photo looks better than it would have if it had been taken 6 months earlier. You have a good attitude. I agree with you that maintaining throughout the holidays is really pretty darn good. Probably as good as a loss!

Maryann, have a fun/safe trip tomorrow. I hope you can be online. I miss you when you're gone.

Rhonda, we've been hearing an owl at night. Kewl!! Your birdies will enjoy your birdbath. Kudos to you for breaking the ice.

I'm leading the OA meeting tonight. The meeting is 6:15-7:15 so I have awhile before I need to leave. WW in the morning. Guess I'll peek at the scales again.

Nancy, Sloan, Frouf, JoJo, I hope you chickies are out enjoying your day. Same for all of us. Have a Marvelous Monday.

We are meeting with the guy who is interested in the house on Wed.
He is giving us an estimate I think on doing the work we need done .
Maybe we will all discuss the possibilities then or they may not be serious.
Even if they aren't interested I am glad it all happened because it has encouraged us and the house looks better now that I spent the day
decluttering my counters & other surfaces.

It is so very cold here...

I am holding steady with my loss from last week. Trying to eat South Beach as much as possible.

Nancy, I'm glad you are content with the "house thing". It feels really good to get things de-cluttered, doesn't it? We will be out for snow tomorrow, so I plan to de-clutter my laundry room. Sounds like a blast, huh?

I've been doing pretty well with my eating, but last night and today, not so much. I've got dinner out tomorrow with friends, a Christmas party on Wednesday, and another party on Saturday. I hope I don't do too much damage. Wish me luck!! Night y'all :)

Good Afternoon Ladies:)

Didn't sleep well again last night,it was too warm in the room I must learn what temp are good for this room as its so much smaller than the one up stairs where we kept the thermostat at 65. I guess I have to bring it down further.Going to try 62 and see what happens.

Other wise nothing new, except to get my mail stopped and than call the taxi company. Which I can do at the end of the week. Trying to mix match my clothes like I did on Thanksgiving but this time around I'm finding it harder to bring red & greens into my wardrobe.

Have to go out to the petco and see if I can get a bunny Christmas stocking for m y grandchildren bunny called Shelby. DD told me to buy her toys as she was told that the bunny food is not good for them. She eats spinach and dandelion greens.

RHONDA-That's ok not coming on the thread as much as you want to,Its been a very busy month for me and I have been MIA also.

SLOANE-Yes,It does looks like I have everything in order. Hope I didn't forget anything. Not going to have anyone stay with me, while I recover. Its just going to be me,myself and I. Not really afraid as I have the Lord with me, but just in case I just called the surgical nurse and hopefully she will return my call and give me a answer.

SANDRA-I leaving for NY next Tuesday, but I have so much to do,I glad it wasn't this week.DD is fussy about any one using her computer. So I not even going to ask.

NANCY-I must have missed a post or two ,are you selling your house???? Hope you get what your asking for it,as its a buyers market,so my sister told me being a real estate agent..

Have a great day,off to do some chores

Hi All:

I just read the last page of last week's thread. Jojo, I had just heard that joke yesterday, before I read your posting. I laughed both times. Some days even Santa gets tired.

I'll see if I can post some pictures of some of the necklaces. It will be a while before I sign up on Etsy, if I ever do. But, for those of you who don't know the site, go look at it. There is some beautiful work.

So, this afternoon is our last tap performance of the year, and I've been asked to join the group officially. They practice and learn new dances twice a week. Right now, I think I'll continue with other class too. That would give me three sessions weekly. How could one possibly dance too often?

I don't have any loss to report, and am struggling not to eat too much. But, somehow I feel a little more control creeping back in. I hope so anyway. I was doing well at calorie counting for a while, then took a break with the expected consequences.

Nancy, good luck with selling the house. It's all nerve-wracking I know.

Sloan, I enjoyed the story about your friend and your room.

Maryann, I hope you have a good trip.

Sandra, good going on the play. Maybe we should work up a routine and take our act on the road?!

Vickie, I'm impressed with that shopping. I've got one thing for DH and that's all the shopping I've done.

I've attached two pictures. One is of me on September 23rd, my 65th birthday.
The car is DH's 1990 Cadillac. I love it; it is an old man magnet as I drive it around town. Of course, it is the younger men--who don't have any money--who want to buy it. It is NOT for sale.

The other picture is of some of the jewelry. It's simple stuff. I'll take some better pics of some of the pieces. The colors of two of them don't show well. The lower left is white, aqua and orange, the one one the right is a pale green and white.

Hey chickies, I've been home today doing the "snow day" things like cooking, laundry, visiting with my kiddos. I'm meeting friends for dinner tonight. I think we would go to school tomorrow, but another winter storm is predicted, so who knows?

Maryann, I know what you mean about not sleeping if it's too hot. We keep our house freezing at night.

Rhonda, I love your pics! I think you look great! I love the jewelry, too.

I'll try to check in tonight after I get home. TTFN

I had fun today photographing my daughter's class while they
did a rock climbing field trip. I borrowed a friend's
really nice camera so I hope I got a lot of good shots . I am getting ready to
put them on my computer after this post. I am trying to decide the best way to share them.
I could burn the 10 CD's (one for each student)
I would like to get a nice camera next year and work on my photography
skills.

Maryann..
I used to raise rabbits and most professional breeders all feed a quality
pellet rabbit food and a good hay. They need the hay for roughage to keep there digestive system running smooth. I wonder of your granddaughter should get a second opinion about the feed. I do know that any change needs to be done gradually. They cannot just throw up like a cat or dog and digestive upsets often are fatal for a bunny. I wish you lived near me because I have lots of little bunny things left over.

About the house...our plan is to do some updates with tiling & painting
and such and get it on the market in the spring, but we had a builder
guy that is interested "as is" before we update.
We meet him tomorrow , so it will be interesting to see what he says.

Hello again. I can't seem to get here often enough. I have read all that was posted since my last visit.

Sandra, you are doing great on the new program. Tomorrow is WI for me. I think I will have a decent loss. The first week I gained .4 and the scale is finally moving down. I was confused but last meeting, things clicked. I'm not counting points, doing the Simply filling. Much easier, since I mostly eat the foods on that list.

Maryann, you are probably at your daughters by now. Hope you enjoy your holiday. You really should plan to have someone there to help you after your surgery. Glad the new living arrangements are working out for you.

Sloan, I live in Florida and Kentucky. I'm about 2.5 hrs from Nashville. We are going home for Christmas and almost cancelled due to the snow you all got. My daughter was so upset, we decided we will make the trip, as long as there is no snow in the forecast. It's been so cold here in Florida too. Suppose to warm back up tomorrow though.

Rhonda, give us your website address. I don't wear much, but like to give gifts.

Nancy, best of luck today. Hope you have a sale.

Jojo, I get a little down during the holidays. All my older relatives are gone now. I'm the matriarch of the family, as my daughter calls me, lol. Thank you for explaining to me about your daughter. My thoughts are prayers are with you this holiday.

I'm sure I've missed someone, but this old brain doesn't work like it used to. I have to get in the shower. Mammogram today.

I'm loving the new WW program too. I've used quite a few of my 49 weekly allowance points, at least half, if not more. Hope the scale is nice to me tomorrow.

We met the remodel/builder guy today.

I really like their office & staff. A UPS guy came through the front door
with a large box and turned around with it & knocked off half the stuff on a table near the door.
The lady up front did not miss a second in laughing and saying
"you should be a bowler because you almost got them all in one shot"
She did it in a way to let the guy know it was no big deal..

I absolutely love people who are so quick to make others feel better
about mishaps..

About the house...the guy discussed the renovations & estimate which I figured meant he wasn't serious about buying it... But then at the end he said he was very serious about it and asked normal questions about school districts ect . He is sorta where we are with originally planning to sell his in the spring but flexible . He wants us to set a price so we can start
seeing if we can agree on something. We need to do some research
and talk to a few Realtors and decide what our price should be.
We don't want to over or under price it obviously .
Once we know what price we would ask in the spring if we fix it up I think we can subtract the remodeling & real estate fees and give him a "as is" price.

Now I am really wishing I had already cleaned out my attic...
I am going to work on it as soon as the temperatures get out of the freezing
digits...

Eating was not good today ..sigh..
I will eat light tonight to make up for it.

Hi Ladies:)

Taking a break, from a very busy morning, and now its almost 3 PM and I still have lots to do.Going to do so laundry and than start a check list of the clothes I will be packing.

Made a chili for dinner as our temps were in the teens, and aren't that much higher yet.I had to wear my parka when going outdoors.

SLOAN-I called the nurse again this morning and she told me I don't need any one for the first 24 hrs as I'm just having a scoping. The only thing I have to worry about is when I wake up,from the anesthesia I need a ride back home and my friend Mary will be there at the hospital to take me home.

NANCY-My Daughter has lots of rabbit pellets & hay so she just told me to buy some toys. Going over to Petco tomorrow morning. The rabbit is so cute, she;s entirely black and has these big eyes. She has the entire back area of the house to run & jump around in. Have no idea what she is going to do when she sees her place is going to be the area where they put the Christmas tree. Congrats on finding a buy for your house, your lucky as its a very bad market so my sister tells me as she a real estate agent.

Guess I will have to have some sort of party to get rid of them or I'll be a fat as a house.

I wasn't able to go get my son from college today because of the roads..
I am going in the morning if I have to strap on my ice skates and
skate to get him . My other son had a rather close call while kayaking
yesterday. Scares me to death all that he does but what can you do??

We have a raccoon or squirrel in the attic. He bumped around all night last night.
After I finally got sound asleep DH woke me up to ask if it was okay to lower
the thermostat. :rollpin: Then I never got back to sleep..
I sleep lighter than I used to and if I sleep on the couch or another room I sleep so much better but I hate to do that every night.

I have this idea I am going to try to keep track of my calories during the day.
It is going to sound weird but I'm weird so it may for me perfectly...
I am going to put nickels & dimes in one pocket to represent my calories.
4 nickels for 50 calories each & 10 dimes for 100 calories each. As I eat
during the day I am going to keep track of the calories.
Sometimes at night I can't remember everything I have eaten and I don't
know if I have calories left for a snack or not. It may keep me from nibbling
if I know I have to spend my calories.

Night....

Hey ladies.

Food, food, and more food. I am going to KY for Christmas and already told my daughter not to get on me about food, as I'm doing WW and on a determined path to make it work, lol. If they want all the sweets, great, but don't get upset when I turn them down. I have great will power, when I get on track. I'll eat lots of fruit and veggies.

Nancy, I remember reading about a bracelet working in the same way, with WW points. Great idea. I have my food tracker on the kitchen counter and when I nibble, I scribble, lol.

Maryann, I know when I had my first knee surgery (the cleaned a tear), I was on crutches for a few days. It's hard to carry a cup of coffee, etc, while using the crutches. That is my concern for you. Sounds like everything is falling into place for you. Have a wonderful visit with your family.

Drum roll......................I lost 2.8 lbs. I am so excited. That is the motivation to keep me going. I've don't count points, but I do track. Of course I have to use points for those foods not on the power foods list. My husband asked me a few night ago...why aren't you snacking anymore. Granted, my snacks were mostly fruits, but I'm just not as hungry and more aware of needless nibbling.

We leave Sunday for Ky. Getting excited about seeing the kids and grandkids.

I have been traveling today and once I use the change I just toss it in my car change bag or pocket book .

I ate a hamburger at lunch which wasn't a great choice but I still have
$ .45 to spend for dinner (450 cal.) The family wants to go up to our pizza
joint so I have to figure out how to eat light. They have salads so I should be fine.

I went to get one son from college today and then found out my other son is
coming home tonight a day early.. :D

PAM..I was wondering about a bracelet..always there to remind you ...

Good Morning Chicks! Where on earth did the week go? And....the craziness is not over yet. I'm in the home stretch of wrapping but am trying to figure out when/how to get the cooking and baking done. I'm not doing much, but enough to make me crazy. And, of course, I'm trying to do it all at the last possible minute so it will be fresh. My next week is so crowded and I lost Wednesday to social engagements. That would have been the perfect day for baking. Oh well. It will all get done or it won't.

I lost 1 pound at Jenny last Monday and was happy with that. I have no idea what is going on for this week but I've been more on plan than not.

Please know that I'm think of you all and wishing you the best of holiday seasons, even if I can't get here too often right now.

Congrats Pam and Vickie on the reported losses. Good work.

I've just read one of the success stories about a woman on 3fc losing 109 pounds in two years. These stories are inspiring. She did it with no special diets, no gym, just determination. :coach:

So, I'll be determined today. And yesterday's one hour with the trainer ought to help.

We bought a tree that is so dry I bought another one. The dry one will go on the porch with some tinsel.

I'm just busy getting ready for tomorrow's family dinner. One thing I like about being in Texas is that you really can serve chili and tamales for Christmas dinner!!! We love our turkey and ham, but we did used to be part of Mexico and the state is at least 25% Latino/a. Probably more, but I'm doing the research right now. You know, we call the immigration issues "Montezuma's real revenge." (I'm not making light of the serious issue, just giving you a cultural joke. Don't any lurkers take me on here; I support real reform!)

Rhonda, you're a hoot. Enjoy your tamales and chili. We had bbq brisket sandwiches today--loaded with jalapenos.

Vickie, congrats on your loss. Losses in December require celebrating. I love reading about your Christmas projects. You certainly have the spirit.

We visited family earlier today and are now home. I'm going to try to find out about how many points my bbq sandwich cost me today. I'm prob in for a shock.

JoJo posted on last week's thread, and it is very sweet. Maybe she'll repost here. Sandra responded to her. Her neighbors have decorated in red, red, red their daughter's favorite color.

I'm off to a neighborhood party. Yeah, Sandra, bar b que is costly. I'm taking lasagna to the party, but I'm not eating it!

I love the story about Jojo's neighbors decorating in red. That is so touching! What an awesome tribute to Beth.

Just got back from a Christmas party. Tomorrow we will attend the funeral of my husband's former sister in law and our good friend. She was 51 and died of a heart attack in her sleep. DH was saying today that he was ready for the start of a new year. Too many funerals! I wholeheartedly agree.

I have not done well with points for the last few days. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get back on track. Have a great night, y'all!

Good Morning Chicks! It's Sunday morning crack of dawn. I couldn't sleep so I'm up. As soon as the sun rises, I'll finish the last of my wrapping except for the 4 small presents that haven't come yet. Tomorrow is my weigh in at Jenny and then let the festivities begin! I'll be baking on Wednesday and cooking and baking on Christmas Eve day. It's things I've made a million times before so it should be ok. My eating is not stellar but much better than in years past.

Sloan, I'm sorry about your friend and JoJo, well I wish I knew what to say that would help. No Mom and Dad should ever lose a child. Period. My hugs and good thoughts are with you both.

Nancy, how's that change going?

Mary Ann, when do you leave?

Rhonda, you passed on the lasagna! You are awesome. What's a brownie? I'm impressed that you chose one. In the old days, you'd have eaten both!

Sandra, I wish you lived in my town. I'd love to spend time with you.

Is everyone ready for the holidays? I think we all celebrate Christmas. One has to be so careful these days.

JoJo, I just read your post on last week's thread. What wonderful neighbors you have. Your daughter must have been a very special person. And, obviously you and your husband are loved as well.

Vickie, I have both Christmas decorations and three (3!) Hannukah menorahs in my home. The menorahs are a tribute to our common roots and to my late husband and my late brother-in-law, both of who were Jewish and were major positive influences on me and my family.

I miss the multiculturalism of Toronto where one hears all about Diwali, Kwanzaa, the Solstice, as well as Christmas.

Sloan, I hope that you and your family have many fewer funerals to attend this year. It's been a hard year for you.

And, Jojo, you are blessed with good neighbors.

I won't likely be on much today. I'm away for breakfast, then in the kitchen until 5PM when the family arrives.

I got up early this morning and cleaned out my clothes closet, painted a little on a new painting I am doing, and now I'm snug in my bed watching a Christmas movie. We go to the funeral at 1:00 then I'll be doing some Christmas shopping online. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. According to Amazon and Zappos, it's not too late to order for Christmas. I hope that's true.

Have a great day, chicks!

Hi there. We are home from church and lunch. My gf was coming out for us to shoot, but I called and cancelled. It's too cold and windy out there to be flinging arrows. We may do some flinging tomorrow.

JoJo, I'm still thinking of your neighbors. They must be wonderful people. I'm thinking they must be mirroring you and Mark. You are wonderful people/neighbors, too. If there's anything we here can do for you, please let us know. We love you.

Rhonda, no woe about you, Cuz. You're doing great. You're aware of what you're eating and are making good choices. Like Vickie said, you could have had lasagna, brownies--and more. I'll bet you'll easily exercise the brownie off in no time at all.

Vickie, I wish we lived in the same town, too. You have so much enthusiasm for the holidays. Brings back memories when I had more. ;) ;) ;) ;) for wi tomorrow.

Sloan, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. This has been a tough year on you and your family for sure.

Did ya'll notice JoJo has met her Christmas goal? :high: JoJo, you rock!

I haven't read the post but wanted to tell about my day for prayers..

DH woke up to shower for church and was too weak to shower
or walk around. He hasn't felt well all week but this extreme weakness was sudden. We decided it was too urgent to wait til Monday so we went to the ER.
All the test they did came back good except that he is anemic and has low platelet counts ..They also said the blood cells show a abnormal shape.
They said it could be caused by a virus but needs to be followed up on.
Then they mentioned that leukemia needs to be ruled out..
His iron is usually high so being low is strange

We aren't expecting something like that but are seeing the specialist
tomorrow & his normal Dr.

We had planned a tree decorating day today , so I have no decorations up .
When medical stuff is going on it is hard to worry about normal Christmas
activities.

Nancy, I'm already prayin' !! There aren't any words to say to make you feel better just know that we are all here for you. Every time you have a negative thought or worry, turn it into a prayer. God will give you the peace you need until you get your questions answered. Please let us know how things are going. Those "popcorn" prayers will be poppin' all over the place :)

Hi there, Chickies. What a treat getting to hear from each of you. I just got here from our CORE recipe thread on CORE soups. Saw some good recipes but got sad seeing most were posted by former Chickies. I miss those ladies and wish they would return.

Hi!
