Ha, Knew I'd get your attention. Okay ,now that i have it.

What other exercise besides Running gets you to that Euphoria. ?? I've not had the euphoria because I don't run nor do I have any intentions on doing so.

So I would like to know what else I can do to get high on exercise. ? is there anything else?
:D

To be honest...I've done everything else (elipticle, bikes, weights, videos, etc.) and NOTHING gives me the feeling of running...hands down...it's addictive!

I've had it hiking (it's when I start thinking "oh my gosh, I could do this forever, I should hike the Appalachian Trail." I can tell it's over when I wonder how much I can sell my boots for on ebay since I'm never doing this again.)

I've had it biking, too. It lasted about 40 minutes out of an 8 hour ride once.

That is absolutely my favorite part of exercise........getting the runner's high after I finish.
I always get it when I do over an hour of an intense workout. It's a pretty amazing feeling :D

But running always gives me a more intense high than anything else.

see, than it's clear that nothing gets you there so it's hard to want to do something if you don't get *something* from it. And I don't mean sweat. I don't want that.

The impact of running releases endorphins into your body giving the runner's high.

I enjoy the elliptical now. I ran years ago, and do remember the high vividly. Hoping once some of this weight comes off I can start running again.

i think we could have a real debate about all the things we 'get' from exercise. i at least feel proud i did it.

I feel 'high' (good) after I finish any cardio that I've worked hard at for at least 30 mins. In particular, the epiliptical, bike, stairclimber. I do feel a bit higher (lol) when I run, but i always feel good after I do any kind of exercise.

you could take drugs and get high if you are looking for that. But I think some drugs make you sweat too. Maybe a lot of vodka? Which could lead to a bad hangover, though. Sex? Oh, wait, that involves sweating.

Good luck in your search! I'll be over here getting nothing out of my exercise... :dizzy:

The only exercise that has brought me something comparable to a runner's high is road biking. Never, ever, an indoor bike. It's not really like a runner's high -- but biking out on the road, with the wind on your face and a good rhythm going, is an amazing, addictive experience for me.

Come to think of it, I've only really had a runner's high outdoors, never on the treadmill. Maybe that's why you never hear of an elliptical high or a stairmaster high?

Lol on the sweating with sex. Now that's a different "wet" I ccan handle. I'm not a big sweater so when it does happen, indent like it . Its uncomfortable to me.lol

So the SARS are I , nothing like an outdoor runners high.

DRATS. Lol

Yes, hands down, running is the best exercise that has given me that euphoric feeling...Biking, for me, doesn't even come close, for some reason... Swimming laps has given me that feeling and Yoga too, now that I think about it, does give me a euphoric feeling ...

For me it's all about intensity. I put the effort in, my body rewards me with a high. :D Weight lifting alone doesn't do it for me, but weight lifting combined with cardio, even its just jumping jacks between sets, is AMAZING.

I'm with Eliana. I've tried running and I keep plugging along with it even though I dislike it, but I've never gotten that "high" from it. Just about any other exercise I really put my all into though, gives me that feeling.

you may not get it if you don't really like it. Maybe that's a block and a hint to stop doing it. I say they say you have to like it in order for it to work. So therefore, no high for ya. :????

I have never been a runner, so I can't compare. I also dislike exercise. I don't do much. I do things I don't consider exercise, because I enjoy it. I walk the dog most days, and thats just enjoyable because she is so happy to be out and with me. I like yoga, especially hot yoga. I have also had a thing about not liking sweating, and the point of hot yoga is to sweat, but somehow, it works for me. I do get a high from this, even though during the class I start to wonder why I am doing this to myself. But I love the feeling at the end of class.
In the winter, I LOVE cross country skiing. I have to dress carefully to avoid overheating, but I really enjoy it. And I definitely get a high from a good ski.
So maybe you need to find some kind of aerobic workout that you really enjoy. I think its the enjoyment that brings on the high. Most runners I know who say they get a high from running, really seem to enjoy it.

I find a high in just walking. I really enjoy it, Even when the cold is hitting my face. I like that I just bought some boots that are waterproof, the kind that go to your ankles and I'm going to go outside. I like it. It's not a fast weight loss exercise but it really makes me happy. I get happy because I feel like I accomplished something.

Just wish it worked as fast as resistance training. But walking, I can do all my life. Resistance training, I can get board. and sick of counting, 1-10. .That is a huge boar to me. Is that the right boar or is it bore? whatever... lol

Running is the only exercise that gives me that “high” feeling. Even when I workout hard on the elliptical, I don’t get that feeling.

I usually do yoga in a studio, but otherwise it sounds like most of us get exercise highs doing outdoor exercises. I would say getting outside makes a big difference.

Nothing gives me the same high, but I do love SPIN as a great cross train cardio work-out!

The only thing that has come close is an intense hike, but it's still not the same as running. I'm just so in love with running though I'm not sure anything will ever live up to what it gives me on so many levels. In fact once I found running I ditched hiking all together. And I will say, didn't always love it, I grew to love it passionately over time. It probably took me 6 months of work to get to a point where I loved it and even then I didn't live it the way I do now a year later.

I just got a reiki attunement today, and now that I've done my first treatment on myself, I kowit has some connection with the outdoors, this high that I'm looking for.

I see you all say its outdoors and running, I think it's connecting with the elements that we all crave and need.

Bikes, hikes, walking out doors, mountain climbing, dog walking, I bet it's in all these .

My ultimate high is when I am walking/jogging/running, listening to pop music and singing along as loud as I can! Without music, I don't enjoy any exercise. Even when I was weight-training, I had my earphones on... If only singing burned more calories, I'd probably be a walking stick by now :(

I got a high this morning. I did stairsptepping on the stair step between my kitchen and the landing (one step) at high intensity for 30 mins...and I got the same high I used to get when I used to run. So I would say it is the intensity - not the activity, whether you like it, or inside/outside. Cuz I certainly wasn't having fun, nor was I outside, nor was I running.
