Ok, I am starting a new one!

Craft fair went well. There were not too many folks that came, but enough. I did not do as well as the others, but I am not going to complain. One friend of mine came and spent a LOT on my stuff. Made me feel good. Two sisters from my new church came, and I was NOT expecting them! It just MADE my day. I sold a decent amount...would have loved to sell more. I sold NO paintings. I got plenty of good comments...just no purchases. Oh well! I will list it all on etsy, and hope some more sells.

My morning blood sugar level was totally normal...as in non diabetic normal. I am not sure what to make of it, but I was glad to see it. I only had one normal meal yesterday...so maybe the key for me is to severely limit caloric intake?!

Off to get dressed. Today I am going to my Jamaican friend's house to make our annual batch of Jamaican fruit cake...think English plum pudding...its steamed and laced heavily with port wine. Its fabulous!

Ellen- Congrats on selling your stuff and seeing great numbers with your blood sugars. I also like the new thread you started. I'm sure your work is beautiful.

I had a very busy weeknd it was my wonderful husband's birthday and the family we took im out to dinner Friday night and he had another celebration on Sunday. We had a great time and I am very tired. I have a half day today and then off to see my dietician and then work out.

Have a great day everyone.

Oh boy a new thread. Thanks so much Ellen.... We went grocery shopping yesterday and it was a nightmare. There must have been a million people in Wal Mart. We didn't get home till dark. Of course it gets dark so early. Anyway its over with. Won't be the last time I have to brave the crowds. LOL.... Just had a toasted english muffin for breakfast with a glass of OJ and a banana.

Ellen- Glad you had a good open house. I can't believe someone didn't buy one of your lovely paintings. Good deal about your BS this morning.

Mercee- Way to go! Have a great day....

Today went very well! We got the fruit cakes done around 4 and I made it home in time to throw together some chili for dinner. Tom got home early and went out and picked collards. I will cook them for dinner tomorrow night.

MERCEE: Tell your hubby happy birthday for me! :) Where did you go for dinner? The restaurants around Oak Park where I grew up are so different now....

TONI: I know what you mean about Wal Mart. Argh! Around here the best time to go is early in the morning. If you wait until after 10:30 or 11, its just too late and too crowded!

Off to get some chores done!

Howdy ya'll. I just finished dinner and am moving into lazy mode. I was able to get in two good workouts today. One was the five mile video and the other was a fast two mile video. I'm trying really hard to work off the last ten pounds.

Solly...Praying that your appointment goes well in the morning.

Ellen..WTG on the good blood levels. So glad you had some sales. Hope you sell even more online. Thanks so much for starting the new thread.

Toni..I'm dreading getting out and facing the crowds.

Got some chores I need to finish.

Morning! My blood sugar was back up to the lower end of what it normally is. Not great, but not horrible either. Just merely bad! :)

I have a lot to do this week, and I am having a hard time focusing on what I should do first! :o

Its cold cold cold! Tom picked collards last night so I guess they will be on the menu tonight. I love them...but I am not crazy about washing them, washing them and washing them. It seems no matter what I do, I still end up with sandy grit on them. bleh! I found a recipe for collards where you roll the leaves then slice them across really thinly before cooking. I want to try it with some of this batch to see it is good. Tom is kind of old fashioned about his collards though... :)

Off to get the day started! I will probably check in again later.

Just having my late morning coffee. Need to cook breakfast. Think I'll have a bacon and tomato sandwich. Doing pork chops for dinner this evening. Maybe with a salad and baked sweet potato.

Crystle- Happy Birthday to youuuuuuu! :carrot:

Ellen- Wow I would love to taste those fruitcakes. Yum.... Darn that blood sugar. Hope it goes down. I've never made collards. I see them at the store but wonder if I would like the taste.

Solly- Hopeing your appointment goes well.

Mercee- Are you working hard?

Morning Ladies:

Crystle- Happy Birthday:bday2you:!! Enjoy your day. You rock ! Wow doing 2 workouts in one day. Wishing you the best in the home stretch.

Ellen- We went to Pappaduex's in Westmont, Il. It is a New Orleans style seafood resturant. They have great food.

Toni- Hi! The crowds are carzy this time of the year.

Solly- I pray that all is well with you.

Yesterday I went to see my dietician. Since October I have lost an additional 10lbs. She downloaded all of my data from my meter and my blood sugars have been great. As a result I can't go back anymore unless I start having trougble. She feels I know what I am doing. I am thankful for how good thongs are going. This is the first year I didn't gain weight after the holidays.

Have a great day ladies.

Good morning ladies. Had the MRI. It only lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. The dr told me 2 hours so I was glad about that. I did doze off once or twice and I think I jumped and moved my leg but the guy did not say anything. I have to wait 48 hrs. I have my CT scan tomorrow on my chest. Is there anything else???? Praying the lump has not changed in my lungs. Really don't want to go there again.

Ellen, so sorry you didn't sell more things. Hoping you can sell them on Etsy. They are so beautiful. I love Kale but I believe they are different from Collard Greens. Thanks for the new thread.

Toni is BL on tonight? I didn't look. We are having pork chops on Thursday night. roast tonight. It is so cold here. I hate it.

Crystle, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :cake: :balloons: Hope you have a special day. You are so special to us. My DD's birthday was yesterday. You are rocking with the last 10 pounds. I just can't seem to get started.

Mercee, Wish your DH a happy belated birthday. Great on not having to go back to the nutrionist and not gaining over TG.

Have a great day.

Almost forget... Does anyone have a great cookie recipe. My DD needs to make 9 dozen and doesn't want to do choc chip or oatmeal. Wans something different but something easy to make with 9 dozen.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. Today has been great so far. Just finished a breakfast of hamburger and egg whites. Did a new workout earlier and it was great. Leslie kicked my tootie again. Part of the walk slim series.

Ellen..I grew up on collards. Love love love them. A good way to get all the grit is to wash them one leaf at a time. But when making a lot that isn't possible. Floating them in several bowls of water does an excellent job. The grit falls to the bottom. We always layer and slice the collards. Since they are a tougher green this makes them a lot easier to eat. Plus a pinch of sugar mellows out the bitter flavor.

Solly...Praying that there is NO change unless it is in a positive direction. I would love for the lump to be gone.

Mercee..That is SO awesome! Besides the weight loss to get your health under control is major.

Toni...Yum. My daughter called and she was having bacon today also. It just sounds so good. If I didn't have to cook and clean up I think I'd make some..LOL How is that for lazy. :)

Gotta get my tootie moving this morning.

I ended up going to the market today with my chef friend. Afterwards, we went to Cook's Warehouse because she needed to pick up her paycheck. (she teaches classes for them) I LOVED the place! Kitchen stuff galore! I got a set of English Muffin rings so I can make a full recipe at a time now of gluten free ones. :)

I MUST clean house and get ready to decorate for Christmas. Tomorrow is going to be the day. I am so disgusted at what a messy slob I am!

MERCEE: We have Pappadeux here! I have not been to one in a few years, but I do remember the food was wonderful. Congrats on your blood sugar management! That is just wonderful!

SOLLY: I hope the reports you get are good news. Praying for you. I have tons of cookie recipes. How about this one, a family favorite and easy:

Scottish Shortbreads
3 cups oats
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix all the dry, cut in the butter and vanilla like pie crust. Press into a 13x9 inch pan evenly. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. When cool, drizzle with powdered sugar icing (just add a tiny bit of milk or water to about 1/2 cup powdered sugar and stir, then drizzle with a fork), let dry and cut into 36 bars. I have added cocoa to the powdered sugar icing and that is good too. I make these a lot and they are always popular. If you wanted to make them festive, you could make red and green icing and drizzle them with both. :)

COUNTRY: My husband LOVES collards. He grew up on a farm in south Georgia...I never had a collard until I married him! Love them! I tried a fat free vegan recipe and made the traditional ones tonight. I use olive oil instead of bacon fat these days, but they are still wonderful. The ff vegan recipe used onions and garlic and red pepper flakes. It was really good. I cook them in the pressure cooker and it only takes a few minutes. I have heard about adding a bit of sugar but I have never done that. Tom always waits until after a cold snap to pick collards. He says the cold mellows the flavor. Oh, and this batch is the first time they were not real dirty! Tom said he thinks it is because he put down a thick layer of leaves as mulch. It was so easy to wash them, it was great!

TONI: You might like collards...if you like cabbage, brussel sprouts, kale, mustard greens...I really like them.

Off to bed! Good night all!

Good Morning Ladies:

Solly- Praying your test results bring good news.

Crystle- Hope your day was wonderful.

Ellen- I love collards as well. Washing them is always a chore but they are worth it.

Toni- Hope your day is going great.

Well I am pleased I am down 3 pounds. This is great for me after being stalled. Have a great day ladies. Congrats to all the other losers.

Good morning ladies. I forgot to weight this morning. Or maybe I didn't on purpose. But I do know that my pants buttoned much easier than I anticipated. I thought I might have to go back to the rubber band. Had the CT Scan so I go Monday for the results. I just love waiting. Hoping I hear on my leg and foot soon.

Crystle, glad you had a great birthday. You even worked out on your day. Good for you.

Mercee. 3 lbs is awesome especialy after a stall. Keep up the good work.

Ellen, I love kitchen stores. You can always find something there. Thanks for the receipe. I have printed outa couple. Don't know what she wants to do, but 9 dozen is a lot to do plus our regular baking.

It is so sad about Elizabeth Edwards. She gave a good fight. I feel so sorry for her young children. I guess it hard b/c she and I were both diagnosed close together and then I had the scan this morning. At east is with her son now.

Have a great day.

Good morning ladies. I didn't weigh in. I let it slip my mind too. Also I'm just not ready to get back on the scale, I'm doing so badly. I watched Biggest Loser last night and it was so inspiring, I loved it. The struggle they are having to overcome.

Mercee- A great big congrats on the 3 lbs. That is just awesome.

Solly- You probably lost. I'm praying for you to have good results on all your tests. Hopefully they'll find out whats going on.

Ellen- I could have spent hours in that kitchen shop. But then I would need some money. LOL How fun anyway. The cookie recipe sounds so good.

Crystle-Glad you had a good day. Your workout sounds good.

Morning! I have had a trying one so far. I missed water aerobics, had to get on the phone with Apple tech support as my iPhone was misbehaving. Its all fixed now, and I can say their tech support is impressive. I got NO run around...they called me immediately...no long waits on hold. Was very pleased.

I did weigh and was bummed. I was the same. I will drop down a couple pounds during the week, but it never seems to stick. :( I am planning on trying to get out to walk today, but its REALLY cold and my foot is bothering me. (too much standing on Sunday and walking around the market yesterday) At least my blood sugar was again just bad this morning. (its terrible to think of bad as good...)

Tonight is potluck at church. I am taking collards, and a quiche. They are both done already. A friend is coming over after she picks up her kids from school, so I want to get some cleaning done before that. I have already roasted coffee, and made a pot of brown basmati rice. (I got a new variety at the market and wanted to try it out.) I am thinking of ways to eat brown rice for breakfast...but its so late, maybe I will just call my espresso breakfast and wait until lunch!

MERCEE: Congrats on your loss! Awesome! It gives me encouragement. I know I need to up the exercise, and then perhaps I will get moving downward again...instead of standing still!

SOLLY: 9 dozen is a lot, but it would only be three pans of those shortbreads. If you have more than one 13x9 inch pan, you can do two recipes at once. I have a kitchenaid mixer and often mix it up in there when I am doing two recipes. Goes fast that way!

Off to get some cleaning done. I am so good at procrastination! :s:

TONI: We were posting at the same time! You can make the cookie recipe with whole wheat flour, and cut down on the sugar and it is almost legal for SB! Just leave off the icing. When I need to take a dessert someplace, I will often make them because at least I know its whole wheat and low sugar. I can't have the wheat, so I may try them with an alternative flour... How are you doing bad? Your menus sound so good...are you snacking too much? Do you have any hobbies? Like knitting or crocheting? I find keeping busy with a project helps me stay out of the kitchen. You would love that store! There were several chefs wandering around looking at stuff. They had a line of kitchen tools for kids that were TOO cute. Like a set of measuring spoons that were shaped like fish! I thought about getting some for my grandkids, but Kaeleb is not into cooking and Bella is a bit too young yet. She IS getting lots of play food and a dishes and a kitchen for Christmas though...I may change my mind!

Good morning ladies. Well heard on my MRI. I have 2 fractures in my right foot (one which is over a year ago and was told it was healed but they say it is not) and a torn meniscus in my right knee. They said the only way the knee would heal is orthopedic surgery. I have to pick up a shoe for my foot instead of wearing this long boot. I don't know what to do or when to do it. I am so discouraged. I will find out about my CT scan on Monday morning. The way things are going, it is hard to be positive. Really down right now.

Ellen, you better rest your foot. Maybe do some weights (with can goods) or something like that. Look whose talking ha. Sorry you are having such a bad time with your BS. I know my friend does better when she was doing the treadmill every day. Those spoons sound so cute. My GS would love them. He always gets my measuring cups out and wears my strainer on his head.

Toni, I only got to watch half the the BL last night. The ballgame came on. I bet Ada wins the marathon. I really want Patrick to win the whole thing. Can't wait for the finale. It is so inspiring.

Crystle, hope you are having a great day. I'll check on FB!

Mercee. don't work too hard and work out too hard.

I am off tomorrow. We are taking my GS to see santa and maybe a light show at one of the hotels. He will be spending the night tonight. We are baking on Sunday but I think I will start on Sat during the day as we have a party that night.

Have a great weekend if I don't get back.

So, I hopped on the scale today, and of course the loss shows up! Down three from yesterday. Grrr.

SOLLY: Ouch! Any idea why the bones are not healing? Is there something they can do to help? You MUST do as they say, and rest it as much as possible to give it a chance to heal properly. I know its a pain to let things slide, but I really think in the long run, once you can get stuff healed properly, you will feel SO much better. You hate sitting around, but read or something. Take a vacation from activity and give your body the time it needs to heal. That is so cute that the GS likes wearing the strainer on his head! There is a Curious George episode where he dresses up as a robot and uses a strainer on his head. I have one just like the one George uses, and my grandson occasionally climbs up and the chair and gets it off the hook and wears it. Cracks me up! ((hugs)) Hang in there...I hope the discouraging feelings dissipate soon. Praying for you.

Off to wrap a bowl set I need to give to someone for their wedding which was back in July...:o I am having lunch today with the bride's mom....

Good morning. Still having coffee and watching Rachael Ray on TV. Its cold here again this morning but I guess that's everywhere. Put a roast in the crock pot and am kind of worried as it was still part frozen. Hope it turns out good and tender. Kind of wished I would have done it in my pressure cooker. Have to go to town today. I dread that I was just there yesterday.

Ellen- The cookies sound great with whole wheat flour. Congrats on the three pound loss. You were probably retaining some fluid yesterday. I love the thought of your Grandson with the strainer on his head.

Solly- Oh dang that's bad news on your foot and knee. I don't blame you for getting discouraged. It would be hard not to. I can't believe you've been walking around with that going on. Its good they found whats wrong and now can deal with it. You can do this, you're a strong brave woman. My thoughts are with you....

Toni, sorry you have to go back to town. I put a roast in the crock pot on Tuesday and we still haven't eaten it. I got it out fr Monmday but forgot we were going our for DD's birtday and fogot to turn it on on Tuesday so DH did and it was not done. We were delivering a couch to my nephew and did not get home in time to eat it so we just grabbed a roast sandwich so hopefully we can finish it tonight.

Well, my lunch date was nice... and I was feeling pretty good until I got an email from my son's girlfriend chastising me for saying happy birthday to him by commenting on her happy birthday to him post on facebook. She deleted my comment...

Today is his 32 birthday...he has had nothing to do with the family for almost a year and blames me for all that is wrong in his life. So, now I am trying to maintain something of my good mood and not fall apart.

Sometimes, I wonder why I ever had kids....

Tom took today off so it feels like Saturday... I am glad its only Friday though. My older daughter came by today with my granddaughter. We went out to lunch. She was SO cute today. Very cuddly and occasionally she would just run over and give someone a hug. She IS high maintenance though...she wants someone playing with her constantly. Tonight I got down in the studio and threw some. I am experimenting on a new design...a cheese dish. I hope it works out ok. I have one sold if it does. I am out of clay now so I need to start re-wetting scraps that have dried. Its a pain, but will save me a good bit of money. I have a LOT of scraps. Wet clay runs around 40 cents a pound, and it takes over a pound to make a small mug.

I think I have a bit of a UTI so I am drinking 100% juice cranberry juice and taking cranberry capsules. So far, it seems to be helping a lot. That and drinking tons of water.

I guess I will go do something productive. :) I SHOULD be cleaning...but that is never something I willingly choose to do! haha!

Sorry I haven't been able to get to the board. I've had very little computer time with mama's heart cath and then staying with her yesterday. We also watched the grand son last night. He was such a hoot. He decided he was not sleepy and wanted to get into everything. And right when you start to think it is no longer cute he would come up and just giggle and smile. He has me wrapped. When he did get tired he came and laid in MeMaw's arms.

My mother in law just drove up so I will try to pop in later.

Love you ladies. ((hugss))

I had some no no's over the weekend but I tried to incorporate them into my calorie count. Example kettle corn for lunch yesterday. :D

Hope ya'll are staying warm.

Hi Ladies. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was fun and not so fun. Friday I sepent the day at 3 doctors and took the baby to each one. He was so good but cookies work wonders. He has had a cold and he slept for 3 hours so our day was not much fun. Yesterday we baked for 12 hours. I love spending time with my girls. It is a lot of work but we laugh and talk. Got a good report on my lung. THe spot has not changed and they don't think it is anything. My neurologist told me I must have an angiogram on the arteries in my neck before the surgery. Today the doctor's office called and they want to do it on the 23rd. I didn't realize you must stay in the hospital for 23 hours after one. Plus they have my surfery screwed up. They have it set for Jan 12th. If I do it then it won't be paid for by my insurance but most of all my DH & DD would be on vacation after Christmas and won't be in Jan so I am waiting on them to call me back and let me know about the surgery. Frustrating. One good note, the oncologist told me that I had an vestibular stroke. Funny how she would know off the top of her head and 2 people in that field didn't know. She showed me on the computer and it was just like the symptons I had.

Ellen, So sorry about your son. I wished my niece a happy birthday on face book. Hope your UTI goes away.

Toni, sorry about your son too. That's not the one that is in the service is it? We got 2 inches of snow last night. The roads weren't bad except for the subdivisions. It is very cold here.

Crystle, so glad to hear your mom is doing so well. I'm impressed you did spring cleaning.

Have a great day

Don't faint but I cleaned one of the ceiling fans. :carrot: LOL I'm cooking dinner so I thought it would be a good time to pop in and say howdy. Maybe I won't eat like a little snorker. I'm making a london broil, brown rice and spaghetti squash. Zachary will have some leftover sweet potatoes in place of the squash. He doesn't like it and I don't mind not sharing. :dizzy:

Exercise was a four mile video this morning. I haven't been overly active since then. That is something I need to work on.

Solly...(((hugssss))) So happy on the good report on your lungs!!!!! Praying your neck test goes as well. Hope they sort out your surgery date.

Evening! I had a very busy day. (what else is new, huh? :) ) I went to Water aerobics at 8 this morning so I could get out to my friend's house for coffee early. I stopped at the grocery store to get a few items I need to make Cornish pasties for dinner tomorrow evening for company. (old family recipe) Well, the store will no longer give or sell you suet. (beef fat) It is an essential ingredient in the crust. I was ticked. On the way home, I stopped at Whole Foods and asked them. They would have given it to me, but they had done their meat cutting in the morning and and thrown the scrap fat out. If I call or come in early they will save/give me some. I came home and found enough in the freezer from the last time I made them, so I am ok. I do not know if the car will start tomorrow, as it is supposed to be around 15 here. Tom is taking my car for that reason.

Tonight we went and got a Christmas tree. Its a really nice one and it was really reasonable. Not sure when we will put it up, but Tom got it all trimmed and in the stand in the garage hydrating.

SOLLY: I am glad you got a good report on the lung, and I sure hope you can get the surgery moved to where your family can more easily care for you. Did you take the baby to YOUR doctor appointments, or for him? You are a brave woman. I would never take Kaeleb someplace like that. He is not a bad kid, but he has a hard time sitting still for any length of time. (unless a TV is involved! haha!)

COUNTRY: How do you fix spaghetti squash? I have a cute little one on the counter that has been there for a month. I need to fix it soon. I just don't have any ideas that are calling to me...

Seems I was busy all day or something. Have a busy week getting ready for my kids to come next week. I got a Christmas card from my wayward older boy today. Not the one in the Army. I like to use Mrs. Cubbison's cornbread stuffing mix for my turkey and my sis in law is sending me some from Colorado as I can't get it here. I'm thrilled. Steve is wanting a turkey with all the works for Christmas. Not my choice. I would rather have something simple. But he has it in his mind.

Solly- I'm glad about your lung. I've had an angiogram of my cardoit arteries too. I had surgery on one of mine. What a wonderful day with your girls. I'm so in envy... LOL..... Sounds like you were brave to take your Grandson with you.

Ellen- Good going on the water aerobics. That was great you had a busy day and still went. Get to decorating that tree. LOL....

Crystle- Yippe on the exercise. You're such an inspiration. Its so cold here...

Ellen...I just put a slit in the squash and microwave for five to eight minutes depending on size. You can check by jabbing with a fork. Once it is done I pull out the shreds and add fresh tomato, onion, salt and pepper. I also like to add a Parmesan cheese. Yum yum. If you need a little more substance you can saute the onions in a little olive oil and then add the tomato and throw that into the squash.

Toni...Thank you. It is cold and warm here. You never know from day to day.

Gotta feed these guys. Be back later.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Morning! My bg was HORRIBLE this morning! I was shocked. I had salmon, carrots and green beans for dinner. Makes NO sense to me at all. I really do not like salmon. I think I will stop fixing it for me. I do like some fish, but for some reason, I just do not like the taste of salmon.

I am wasting time. I need to go vacuum and clean up some. I did spend about 15 minutes already organizing the toy corner and throwing away the pieces to a puzzle that has never been put together, just strewn all over the floor. It was given to us used, so I don't feel too badly about wasting it. I encroached on the toy corner a bit to give us more room for the tree. Tom will carry it in tonight when he gets home. I need to be ready for it. :) Its SO cold here...I ought to go put on long johns and socks....

I hope I can get up the guts to go to Water Aerobics tomorrow. Its supposed to be back down in the teens tonight. It was 15 this morning. Brrr!

Will check in later..no doubt when I am trying to procrastinate again! :)

SOLLY: I was posting at the same time as you. Good Gracious! Does just your hand hurt or the whole arm? Could it be related to your back? Like a pinched nerve? Please let us know what the doctor says. ((hugs)) Praying for you as I vacuum....and bake.

Its Wednesday! Do you know where your scale is? I do...under the low boy where I kicked it after stepping on it this morning to find I lost 1.5 pounds! Yay! Now lets hope it STAYS gone. :)

I missed Water Aerobics this morning. I woke up late, and had a stuffy, headachy head. I just felt a need to have a quiet relaxed morning. Coffee and a bite of breakfast has helped a bit.

We had company for dinner last night. I did a lot of cleaning and was very proud of myself. :) I thought Tom would bring the tree up but it got dry during the day and he wanted to make sure it would still take up water before he brings it in. If necessary, he will make another clean cut so it will. Last year we bought a tree at Home Depot and it was dry and losing needles within a day or two. Don't want that to happen this year.

I fixed a family recipe last night...Cornish Pasties. They are meat pies with potatoes. Often they are made with turnips and rutabagas. I use just potatoes. And I slice them instead of cubing them. The crust is made with beef suet (fat). They are incredibly delicious. I only ate one small one last night and half a one for breakfast this morning. They are definitely not 'legal' for SB...but a true comfort food. I make them about once every two years. No surprise that my blood sugar was not good this morning. :(

SOLLY: Thinking of you and wondering how you are doing...

Good Morning ladies:

I just wanted to check in. I will be very busy the next week or so my husbands' best friend died yesterday unexpectedly. I will be with his wife helping her. Congrats to all the losers and I will talk to you all soon.

Good morning ladies. Glad to report my hand is about 75% better. Still going on the steroids so it should go away soon. My angiogram is scheduled for the 22nd. Not looking forward to it at all. After a roller coaster of a day with the dr's office yesterday my surger is now ON for the 27th or 28th. I will have my DD's computer at home so I will be able to post after surgery.

Ellen, I love the smell of a real tree but we have used artifcial since I was a little girl. So much easier and now they are pre-lit. Even my DD went to one this year for time as they used to go out and cut their own tree. Good job on your loss. I am not doing good. You should see our kitchen here. Food galore. There is a lot of fruit but that is not what I want ha-ha. My hand was just an RA flare up. I got off the Celebrex 2 months ago and taking something natura so I think that is it. So I guess you have to decide what you want to move and use body parts or take the chance of a heart attack or stroke. Nice choice.

Toni, I did not watch BL last night. I may go see who won n the internet. I did tape it though. I love the finale and usually keep it to rewatch as motivation.

Crystle, hope you are having a great day.

Mercee, I am so sorry for your loss and especially your DH. Please give him our condolences.

Just can't make myself get on the scale. There I've said it. I know I need to. My eating isn't right.

Solly- I hate so bad you're having such bad problems. I'll be thinking and praying for you. I did watch the BL last night. It was good. I would tell you the winner.

Ellen- Congrats on the weight loss. You are doing great...

Mercee- So sorry about the death of your husbands friend. I'm sure you're going to be a good help to the family.

Crystle- How are you today?

Off to make a late breakfast. Got lots to do today.

I am waiting for my son in law to get here. They need to borrow a suitcase to take on their trip. I am worried about them driving from Atlanta to Vermont with the weather so bad...but they are getting 'all weather' tires before they go. He is bringing my grandson over with him, so I get to see him ONE more time before they leave for Christmas. Boy am I going to miss him! They will only be gone a week and a half, but with my son not here, its going to be a very quiet Christmas with TWO of my kids gone for the first time. I really should not whine. So, I will stop. :) Gonna count my blessings...

MERCEE: I am so sorry about your husband's friend! When it is unexpected its such a shock. Know you are in my prayers. I will be praying for strength and wisdom for you as you help his wife. I am glad you can be there for her.

SOLLY: I am glad you found out why your hand was hurting so much...RA is a nasty disease. I am sorry you are having to deal with it, the meds, and all the other stuff going on.

TONI: Get on the scale! It doesn't get any easier, and the visual will help you make better choices. At least that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Solly

God morning ladies. All is well with me. Surprised ha-ha. My hand is 98% better so still taking the stroids. My angiogram is scheduled (finally) for next Wed. then my back surgery on the 27th at 1:00 or so. So at least it is lined up. Having a nervous stomach now that it is all seettled but will be fine. We got lots of ice today. DH was off and going hunting so he brought me to work.

Ellen, so sorry your kids will be missing on Christms especially that GS. That is the hardest I think. But you do what you have to do and lik you said, count your blessings. There are so many without what we have.

Toni, I am not facing the scale until after my surgery and then it is hard core. I am getting this wt off. I am miserable. I checked to see who won BL. Patrick is my choice. My DD wanted ADA to win. Mark was the only one not game playing and I like that too.

Crystle, hope you are doing great today.

Mercee. I know you will be such a comfort to your friend. It is worse this time of year. My thought are with all of you.

Off to gets as much done as I can for the next 3 months. ha-ha.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had my little guy until after super. :carrot: We had a blast together. He does keep me on my toes. Scales are staying about the same. Hoping to see a loss next week even with "the cookie" episode last night. :D I had chocolate chip cookies for dinner. I figured in the calories and just moved on from there. Thank goodness my guys are munchers, the cookies are gone.

Mercee..so sorry for you loss.

Solly..so glad you are feeling better. You will whip this weight thing in the tushie when things calm down.

Ellen...so sorry your guys won't be here for Christmas. The little pies sound yummy.

Toni...The scales are kinda like diving in a cold pool, you just gotta do it. :dizzy:

Solly- I'm glad your hand is almost back to normal. And its good your surgery is lined up with your neck. I know what you mean about getting back to eating good. I've just got too.

Crystle-Glad you stayed the same...

Ellen- Maybe you'll have a nice relaxing Christmas and enjoy the day the two of you. I like that sometimes.

Morning! I have wasted it royally. :) I need to go down to the studio and throw. I am dragging my feet though. I did research about a debt collection company that left a message on my phone yesterday. (which is illegal...no name was specified) Found out they are the WORST company...breaks the law, does illegal stuff, and even demands payment for debts that are bogus or were paid off, or totally trumped up. Advice said make them put it in writing. It makes me physically sick. I don't think I have any legitimate debts that would be in collection.

We put the tree up last night and I spent a bit of time putting lights on it. Guess I will go down and put some ornaments on it. My heart isn't in it though. I feel like a bah humbug right now! :(

I am longing for some milder temperatures. I will take 50's. Its only going to be 45 today and for the next three days.

TONI: We will have our other daughter and her inlaws, and my granddaughter here, so it won't be TOO lonely. I hope its nice, even though kind of quiet.

SOLLY: I am so glad you are getting things organized and settled for the surgery, etc. Glad your hand it almost all better too!

COUNTRY: I can't say much about your cookie dinner. I had a piece of Jamaican fruit cake last night. And for breakfast, I had a pasty. That is white flour, (not Gluten free! :( and white potatoes! :o )

Hope ya'll are having a super weekend so far. I battled a little of the poor pitiful me last night but I think I'm over it.

I haven't been eating nearly enough so I'm working on that. Had a great lunch today. Two corn tortillas with refried beans, guacamole, reduced fat sour cream and salsa. Right around 350 calories and extremely filling. I was full after one but stuffed the other one. Now I am like a thanksgiving turkey. :thanks2:

Worked out to a three mile video this morning and a five mile one yesterday. I'm a tad under the weather so I wanted to use that as an excuse but knew I was just being lazy so got er done. :)

Ellen...yum on enjoying your holiday goodies. There has to be room in our diets for the things we love. :flow2: Bill collectors like that are horrible. They have a way of making you so anxious. Hope they leave you alone.

Toni..Thanks for the encouragement yesterday. What kind of cookies are you making? :cookie::hungry: Meatloaf is one of my favorite dishes.

Solly...Hope you hand is 100 percent and you are feeling better.

Mercee.. Hope you are having a super weekend also. I'm being lazy right now and it is nice. But only for a little bit. The other half of the dishes are calling and I can not let them sit. It drives me batty. :badbat: ooo scary bat. :)

Praying everyone has a wonderful holiday regardless of all the things that are going on. May your Christmas be Merry and full of God's precious spirit and the New Year one of blessings beyond measure.

We had a Christmas program at church tonight. It was really well done and the message so clear. A couple we have been friends with for over 25 years came. It was fun. I got to make funny comments to the wife. :)

I spent some time throwing this afternoon. I feel like I am getting close to accomplishing something. :) I have Christmas presents to make! And they are NOT going to be done in time for Christmas. :(

Eating has been so so. We went to a party last night and I ate some stuff that was no no. I was pleased with myself though..I only ate one cookie and one small bite of potatoes. The rest of the stuff was fairly ok...just some egg stuff I should avoid, like mayo and then gluten. The scale is looking like its holding ...so I hope that is still true on Wednesday! :)

How is everyone doing?

Good morning ladies. It was a crazy weekend. I didn't get homje from my hospital registration until 6:30 Friday night. IT took 3 hours. Plus traffic. A Nightmare. Shopped all day yesterday witht the girls to finish them up and also their stuff for their gifts. I am done. Everything is under the tree so wrapped, some in boxes wrapped, some in boxes next wrapped and some stuck in bags. My DD said it diddn't amtter if we wrapped theirs as they picked it all out anyway. So That's what I am doing. Things are just a little different this year with the surgery etc.

Ellen, it is hard to pass up those no-nos this time of year.l Jan 1 is right around the corner.

Crystle, we all have those moments some of us more than others. You are doing so great, But I agree, you are not eating enough.

Toni, sounds like you are moving right along and getting it done.

Mercee, Hope you are working less abd exercising more. You are such an inspiration.

Today and tomorrow are going to be so busy so I don't know if I can get back. I wan yo all to now that you are so very important to me and such a big part of my life, dieting or just being friends. I will miss you but will be back on here after the holidays and surgery. Take care. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Remember how blessed we all are.

Good afternoon. It is nice and warm here today so I skipped the videos and took a three mile walk/run. I only ran for half a mile but I did it all at once. I was SO excited. It felt great to be outside. I was starvin' like Marvin by the time I was done so I had a loaded tuna sandwich and a cup of milk. The tuna had onions, bell pepper, jalapeno, dill pickle relish, light mayo and was topped with lettuce and tomato. I may have another one for super because it hit the spot. The only bad part is we don't have any wheat bread right now so I ate it one white fluffy yummy bread. :dizzy:

Lost two pounds this week.

Solly...praying for you and yours. May the holidays be awesome and your surgery a huge success.

Toni..praying that you have a fantastic time with your company.

Mercee...My prayers are with your friend and her family during this very difficult time. May God hold you up as you help hold her up.

Ellen...so glad you were able to get out and throw some clay. It seems to be very relaxing for you and that is a good thing. The few things you've eaten off plan will be okay. You'll be back OP when the holidays are over. I've had a no no here and there almost every day. It is hard not to when the neighbors sends over homemade pecan sandies. ;)

Morning! This will be quick as I have a chiro appt this morning and need to leave soon. After the appt I am going over to the market and doing some veggie shopping. The chiro is a dog lover and I have made her a mug with a little dog on the handle. I hope she likes it.

This afternoon, I need to trim the salad plates I threw yesterday and then load up the kiln with the few pieces I have to fire. I have to get them fired so I can glaze them and fire again tomorrow.. I actually have one day I can wait...but no more. If I had clay I would work this afternoon and try and force dry stuff. I hate firing with only a few pieces. Its a waste of energy and time. (its expensive to fire the kiln...doesn't matter how much is in it...it still costs the same whether its one piece or a full load.)

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I am off to run all my errands today.

Ellen
12-22-2010, 09:33 PM
Hello! Been a busy day. Loaded, and fired the kiln and now it is off and cooling. I fired it extra slow since the stuff in it was still a bit wet. If it fires too fast, as the water in the pieces gets hot enough to turn to steam, it will blow up. Fire it slowly and the moisture can escape and the piece is ok. Tomorrow I need to hop to it and glaze and fire again.

I went to water aerobics this morning. Last one until after the New Year. They are changing the schedule though and I am excited! They will have a class Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Yay!

How is everyone doing?

I just finished my second cup of coffee...this one laced with Amaretto. I unloaded the kiln this morning. The one piece I needed for tonight cracked. Its a weird crack I can not explain right now. I survived the quiet Christmas quite well indeed! Christmas eve was nice, food was fantastic and I ate way too much! My morning blood sugar was through the roof. Argh. This morning too! Yesterday we went to our daughters and hung out and played a board game. It started snowing and we had to drive home in the snow. It was still fairly warm so the roads were not icy yet. That came later! Today its been a bit warmer and the roads are dry. We even had church! It was sparsely attended due to some folks not being able to get out of their driveways, but but we had no trouble. Today is Tom's birthday, so I made him breakfast in bed, then took him out to lunch at a Mexican place we like. I ate way too many chips. This afternoon I ended up taking an hour nap! Tom painted about half of the office. yay! Progress! We will move my desk and computer over into that area, then paint the rest of the room so he can move his computer back in here, and out of my studio! :)

I hope everyone is doing well. I am worried about my daughter and her husband and my grandson. They left Vermont yesterday afternoon and stopped at friends in New Jersey. They are now stuck there, as there is about 12 inches of snow and blizzard warnings! I am so glad they have a place to stay...but I hate the thought of them trying to drive home in the mess. She was supposed to be at work tomorrow....

Had a wonderful Christmas with my family. I so enjoyed my son being here along with my sweet DIL and Grandson. We had such a nice time. Well, now there is about 30 inches of snow where my daughter is stranded with friends in New Jersey. Thankfully, they have a nice place to stay with friends. They are hoping the roads will be passable tomorrow. They were going to start out this afternoon, but since North Carolina and Maryland are in a state of emergency, it is not lawful to drive on the impassable roads unless its an emergency, so they must stay put another day. I hope they can leave in the morning.

Tom has been rearranging and painting the office. My desk is all moved now, and he re-set my computer. I spent the day throwing in the cold cold garage! I got a good bit done, but I have lots to trim and finish tomorrow. It will be a busy day, as I am going to the farmer's market, then tomorrow night I am fixing dinner for some friends with a new baby, and we are supposed to eat with them at their house.

TONI: I am glad you had a good Christmas! I can't believe you have your decorations down already! We have not even had Christmas yet! We are planning it for Sunday...

COUNTRY: Hope you are well. How was your Christmas?

SOLLY: Thinking of you...hope you are doing ok.

Twas the day after Christmas and all thru the house,
nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste,
at holidays parties had gone to my waist.
So I won't have hot biscuits,
or soda or pie.
I'll suck on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, it's awful, and life is a bore
But isn't that what January is for?
No longer a giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New year to all ~
and to all a good diet!!

I got a text from my daughter tonight...they were in Virginia and she said traffic was horrible. At least they are headed home. They ought to be here in another 6 to 8 hours, though I think they have to stop a lot with a four year old and a puppy. :) (yes, they took their dog along...)

I made dinner for some friends with a new baby tonight. We went over there and ate with them and played Wii with their four and five year olds. It was fun. I did not do well in archery or bowling tonight, but I enjoyed it. I flew an airplane too..and did not crash once. I did not get any points either, but at least I did not crash. Tom crashed four or five times! :)

COUNTRY: Congrats to your daughter on her engagement! When is the wedding going to be? Will it be a big to do, or just a small affair or something in between? Yes, it snowed here. A lot! We got maybe three inches. That is a good amount for here. Its still on the ground in places that are shady. I expect it to be gone tomorrow when the temps climb a bit higher into the 50's.

TONI: That is cute...and unfortunately too true! :) I can't believe we have not done Christmas yet either! I was afraid it would be awful, but it is actually not so bad! I am just amazed at how much frenzy there is to get things done, etc. etc. then as soon as the day is over, it just stops cold. No more Christmas carols on the radio, the stores start pulling down the decor, etc. Weird!

Good to hear how Solly is doing....

We finished painting the office tonight. Well, Tom did most of it. It looks great. I loaded up the kiln and have been 'candling' it. That means you turn it on very low to dry stuff out. I will hopefully get to fire it tomorrow. Then it will be a rush to glaze it all and fire again before Sunday.

Its bedtime..so good night and sweet dreams! :)

Way to go ladies!!!!!

Toni...awesome! :carrot::carrot::carrot: So glad you were able to get on that treadmill. What better way to start the new year than to be active.

Mercee...too cool stepping out and getting past your fear. You are totally rocking this weight loss and those 11 pounds will be sent packing like all the others you've lost so far.

Solly...Hope you are home and feeling better. Thinking of you daily.

Ellen...are you out there with your clay? Hope you are having a super new year so far.

Happy New Year!!!

Sorry I was MIA. Yesterday was our Christmas, so I was accordingly busy for a day or two working up to it. It went great! The girls bought me a refurbished Wii...I love it! Its going to be SO much fun. They got some Wii stuff so they played on it all day yesterday, and when they left, I played a game I borrowed from my daughter that I used to play when they lived with us. (they had brought their wii over for me to 'borrow' - sneaks!)

The thing I worked on most was a portrait of my granddaughter to give to my daughter's in laws. They always come for dinner, had us for a fabulous dinner Christmas eve, etc. I had trouble getting the right picture to use...and it was not easy at first, but I got it. I knew it was spot on when I went down into the studio with my daughter and my granddaughter toddled along, came in, saw the canvas and ran over to it and screamed in delight, "Ats Beyya!" (she isn't two yet...name is Bella) I figure if SHE knew it was her, I got the likeness. I still have it, as it was too wet to take. They seemed to love it though.

I must suit up for water aerobics, so will sign off...be back later!

Eating has been good. But boy do we need to grocery shop. I hope we can go tomorrow. I have no veggies in the house. And the fruit I have I don't like. Any way I'm hanging in. Went for tea with a friend today. It was fun and I enjoyed it. Just put some brown rice in the cooker for dinner. I may have that with a little turkey cut up in it. And I have some cauliflower with cheese sauce in the freezer.

Ellen- What a wonderful way to start today with water aerobics. Hope you enjoyed. Lucky you getting a Wii. Hope you have fun with it. The painting is such a great gift. Bet they'll love it.

Crystle- You are doing so great. I loved your picture in your size 8 jeans. What a great example you've set.

Solly- Thinking about you and wondering how you're doing. Hope you're healing good and getting lots of rest.

Mercee- How neat your husband walks with you. Hope you're doing well..

Hi ladies. I am home and feeling good. Don't really do anything. Watching Dr Phil right now. A friend brought over veggie soup but it didn't taste right. Actually nothing has tasted right and I really don't have an appetite. I guess it was the anasthesia. We have all decided to lose wt. I am more than determined. I want to start out walking to see if I can or not. I desparately need to go to the grocery. I have no food and I mean none. I have been out to eat a couple times with no problem. It is uncomfortable to sit. I only take the pain pills at night mainly to sleep. I have some muscle relaxers but try to take them only if I need them.
I haven't read back posts but I will. Just wanted to check in and let you know I am doing good.

Solly- I'm so happy to see you posting and here you're doing well. I've thought about you so much. That helps so much when everyone is with you losing weight. Hurry and get in some good food. Praying you feel better everyday.

Mercee- Happy New Year back at ya. Hope you're doing good.

Ellen- Are you busy playing with the Wii?

Crystle- Where are you....

Good morning, ladies! It's Wednesday! Do you know where your scale is? Mine just got shoved back under the lo boy in the bathroom. :) I am down 2.5 pounds this week!

I am going to go suit up and try and make it to Water Aerobics for the 8 o'clock class since I woke up early. If I can't pull it together, I will just wait and go at 10.

I hope you are all losers this week! :)

Hi ladies, just watching my soap. We did notget to the grocery yesterday, DH didn't get home early enough and we had the baby as my SIL had hernia surgery yesterday. when it rains it pours.

I didn't weigh today since I weighed Monday and we don't have any food. I need to get the energy to clean out the freezer and fridge before we go.

Crystle, congrats on your daughter's engagement and new baby boy. Enjoy your vacation.

Toni, glad you are stocked up before the snow hits. We need to do that today as they are caling for snow on Thursday night and the store wil be packed. Still on the :tread:?

Ellen, I would think they would suggest water therapy for me. Of course I know it is good for me anyway, it is just finding the time when you work, Congrats on your loss.

Mercee, glad you are enjoying your vacation and happy belated anniversary.

off to pay my bills, more tomorrow.

Cut my veggies up and bagged them so I could easily have a snack or for my salads. So had some with hummus for a snack today. Also walked on my treadmill. Tonight is fish, broccoli and brown rice for dinner. Am happy with stuff for today.. I ordered me a new scale.

Solly- What soap do you watch? I like Days of our life. I've been watching it forever. Did you watch the Biggest Loser? Hope you're going to go get groceries this evening.

Ellen- Did you make it to water aerobics?

Ellen
01-06-2011, 08:23 AM
Morning! Water aerobics yesterday was a really tough workout, and I was beat! I am sore today. Looking forward to going tomorrow for the new Friday class!

I have circle meeting at church this morning, then lunch out with a friend. Then later this afternoon I must undecorate the tree and take the Christmas decorations down.

SOLLY: Most places have evening classes for water aerobics. My aquatic center has classes at 6 and 7 two nights a week. A YMCA would have them too. Water work is exceptionally good. Its low impact, but since water is 12 times as dense as air, you get benefit from every way you move. Plus it kind of massages your muscles at the same time! I hope you can find someplace close by to at least try it. They use water work to help re train injured athletes, or for rehab of injuries. Ask your doctor.

Hi ladies. DH had to work late yesterday so we did not get to the grocery so hoping we can get there tonight. I cleaned out the fridge, freezer and pantry and it is bare. So we have to go. I ordered the 17 day diet. Dr Phil had him on yesterday and the Doctors will have it on today. Sounds good so we are going to give it a try. Chaning everything every 17 days sounds like a good thing. I wanted to walk today if DH gets home in time. Calling for snow tonight and tomorrow.

Toni, what a good idea bagging your veggies. You are prepared and that is important. Good job getting in your walking too.

Ellen, I need to go to lunch with a friend.I need to get out of this house some. I will probably look into the water aerobics. I can't ge in water (other than a shower) for 30 days,

Crystle, saw on FB where you got your 10 minute mile. Congrats.

Off to watch the doctors. have a great day.

Howdy ya'll. Just being lazy today. Well, mostly lazy. I did do the wash today. It is beautiful here. I stood at the line and folded the clothes straight to the basket. Hanging it was another story. It was bit on the cool side then but not too bad. A cold front is coming through this weekend so we need to enjoy it while we can.:)

Toni...I need to prepare some veggies. Awesome getting on that treadmill again!!!!

Morning! They are predicting snow this weekend, so I guess I will hit the store after water aerobics and get any essentials I am getting low on. Here in Atlanta, its obligatory to shop for milk, bread and beer! :)

Water aerobics is earlier this morning, so I am already suited up and need to leave in about 40 minutes. Truth be told, its hard to hook the top of the suit so I like getting Tom to do it. ;)

Have a great day, everyone!

Just had a good breakfast/lunch of scrambled eggs with a little cut up ham and some fresh fruit and a whole grain muffin. Now I'm having a nice cup of tea. Don't know if I'm losing weight but my eating is going good.

Ellen- The weather man is saying we're going to get snow Sunday or Monday. We'll see. I think tomorrow when we go to town for our anniversery lunch we'll stop at the store and get extra milk and eggs. Just in case. You're doing so great with the water aerobics. I just dream of having that around here. I would so love to do it.

Crystle- Hows the walking going?

Mercee- Are you working hard?

Solly- Hope you got the shopping done. Did you get snow?

Good morning ladies. Just waiting for my friend to pick me up. We are going out to lunch and whatever I can tolerate. We will see. We did get to thegrocery last night. 2 hours and $350 dollars later and I didn't feel like I bought much as I was waiting on the 17 day diet book. Like I said, we had nothing.

We have my great niece's birthday tomorrow and watching the bowl game and then basketball so I hope I can sit and stand. My SIL doesn't think he will make it with his hernia surgery since he really needs a recliner and they don't have one. The baby has a cold or something so my DD is taking him to the dr.

Toni, I would imagine you could watch the shows on their website or the station's website.

Crystle, I love the smell of slothes on the line but you sure don't see much of that anymores since washers and dryers. My mom had lines in her yard. Glac it is nice there. It is snowing here.

Ellen, we are getting snow now but it is not sticking as of yet. Just lots of flurries. It is funy hearing yoiu say snowin Atlanta,

Back from lunch. I didn't get to post before I left. Nice long visist just talking.

Have a great weekend.

Good afternoon. I'm sitting here eating oven dried chickpeas. I'm addicted. :D They are so yummy. I used canned to make these but I want to try and cook some beans myself and then dry them. That way I can watch the sodium.

Mercee...hope you are having a good day at work. Today was hubby's first day back after a two week vacation.

Toni...soup sounds good. I made some squirrel stew yesterday. My youngest told me I owed him a pot of veggie beef soup. I was surprised. I didn't even realize he liked it.

Hi ladies, trying to do one major thing a day. Today I did filing that had piled up for ayear. Now you ask how much personla filing can one have? Enough with life insureance reports, car insurance etc. Took me all morning to sort it and filed it and had DD file the stuff I can't do. Tomorrow I may tackle my desk which is a total mess or my top drawers, yuck.

Doing ik, go back for a checkup on Thursday. Hope I do not have to go back towork on Monday. Not ready for lots of reasons.

Ellen how much snoe did you all get. They are calling for it here tonight anywhere from 1-5 inches, They don't know,

Toni, did you all get snow too? I am going to gut all my veggies up tomorrow and make some dip. I got my 17 day diet book today and the first 17 days (all that I have read) seem doable. The hardest partis going w/o wine for 3 sets of 17 days. Hope I can do it. I think you can add back red wine 1 drink a day after that. It is really alot like SB except the first 17 days you get no carbs like, bread, pasta, cereal. Happy anniversary. How many years?

Mercee, Good for you getting the colonoscopy and glad you got a clean bill. See you back on a regular basis next week.

Crystle, I don't think I like chickpeas, or mahbe just never had them. Just don't look appealing to me. Can't have them on this diet right now anyway. Hope you will be here more now that DH is back to work.

We went ti Mexican as I didn't want to cook and it was our final meal before our diet. DH says he will half do it but will not give up his beer. Going to pick up a couple things at the grocery tomorrow night. Were going tonight but i'm sure everyone is there sticking up before the snow.

Hopefully wil be here earlier tomorrow. Have a great night.

Hello everyone! It snowed about five inches here, and up to seven nearby. This is very unusual for our area for sure! We were totally snowed in yesterday and then there was freezing drizzle yesterday and some this morning, so the roads are treacherous and we are snowed in again today. Everything is closed. This is why southerners run to the store for milk, bread and beer when snow is forecasted. You never know how long you may be stuck at home. My daughter can't get her car up her driveway, so she can't go to work at Publix, but they have so few customers this storm, its probably not really a problem. Usually grocery stores expect you to come in no matter what!

The traffic cameras that Tom has been able to access on the interstates show NO cars at all! And some friends of ours went sledding down one of the major commuter highways yesterday. Most of the interstates are closed. Its just too dangerous to drive on them. The problem is that they do not have snow plows and salt trucks here. No reason to spend the money on something like that when it is only needed once ever couple years. Maybe!

Last night I cooked Indian food. I have not done much Indian for a while...it was good! I hope I don't run out of anything essential before we can get to the store. I am low on milk, and I am a bit worried about that. I may have to put on my boots and walk to the closest store. I sure hope not tho! :) I am praying for some warmer temperatures...though it looks like nothing is warming up until Friday. :yikes:

I spent the time yesterday playing on my Wii. Tom has a work laptop and has been working as much as he can from it. I am just thankful we have power.

Ok, off to find some coffee.

Good Morning Ladies:

Glad to see everyone is well here. It is snowing here. We are expecting up to 6 inches. I am doing well and still working out. Tonight I will do the Biggest Loser power walk dvd I do this to mix it up some and it is a great workout.

Ellen- I hope you guys are able to get mobile soon. I have relatives in Atlanta and they told me about the snow. Their children use to wish for snow now they are adults and now they have it. LOL

Solly- I did all my filing and cleaning out drawers when I was off for 2 weeks. Isn't it amazing how much junk we can accumulate. Glad you are doing better.

Toni- I stopped by the board yesterday and just left since I was the last one to post. How was your soup.

Crystle-I like chickpeas in my salad I have never had dried ones. What are you making today? You make such interesting dishes.

Have a great day ladies.

We got about an inch of snow last night. Now the bitter cold is supposed to come in tomorrow. I'm dreading that. I was hoping my scale would get here but don't think anyone is going to try and get up the hill to the mail box.

Ellen- You really got slammed with the snow. Hope you don't have to walk to the store. But its really nice its only a mile away. Guess we'll have leftover soup for dinner. Wish I had your WI game here to play. LOL

Solly- Hope the 17 day diet book is good. I just love a new book. Sounds like you've been keeping really busy. I sure hope you don't have to go back to work yet. I made a dip for my veggies last night so I have something good to snack on.

Crystle- Would you tell me how you made your chickpeas. I've been wanting to try them roasted for a long time. Hey what a nice compliment on your veggie beef soup. Hows your weather.

Mercee- Good news on your colonoscopy. Guess you're back at work. Hope you're having a good day.

Anyone watching the Biggest Loser? Don't forget its on tonight.

I am one sore cookie! I did a new workout and then the next day did 100 squats with my four mile challenge hoping to work out the stiffness. It did not work out that way. :) Hubby says being active will help so I did the four fast miles video a little while ago. Hope I can move later. LOL

Toni...they are so easy to make. I just drained two cans of chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and then spread them on a cookie sheet. Baked them about an hour at 375. I did sprinkle a little cajun seasoning on them. I've read other recipes that added olive oil but I didn't want the calories. They taste different once they are roasted. Very nutty and delicious.

Ellen..wow that is a lot of snow. It is frigid here. Gonna get a hard freeze tonight but not snow or ice.

Mercee...not cooking anything special tonight. I did make an awesome squirrel stew the other night. I kept the meat separate and that kept it from becoming too stringy. I just served the meat on top. I didn't eat any meat because the veggies filled me up.

Solly....Praying if you are not ready to go back to work that you don't have too. WTG getting things done around the house. I had a productive day yesterday but today I'm doing lazy.

((Everybody)) Praying you all stay safe and warm with this nasty weather.

Good late morning. Still drinking my coffee and haven't even got up to cook our breakfast/lunch. Its bitter cold here today so I'll be staying in. I was hoping my scale would come in. Its supposed to be today. But then again no one is going up the hill to check the mail. Theres still ice and snow on our big hill to get out of here. Eating has been pretty good.

Morning ladies:

Crystle:I think I will try your chickpeas recipe this weekend. Hope you are not as sore today.

Day 3 and this is not the end of it! The high today is only 30, and tomorrow as well. Friday, thankfully, the temps are climbing up to 40 and hopefully that will be the end of the snowlapaloosa...or snowpoclypse, or whatever they are calling it right now. I feel antsy and anxious and need to find something constructive to do other than play that game on my Wii. I am thinking I need to paint something this afternoon. I have a few clementines, so it maybe an orange painting! :) This is the WORST snow in I have seen in 40 years of living in Georgia. I realize 5 or 6 inches of snow is nothing, but with no plows, or salt trucks, roads are treacherous, and its hilly here. They closed a major road near us because no one could make it up the hill of the bridge over another road. And there are plenty of nut cases out trying to drive in it. Its just not worth the risk! My daughter tried to go to work on Monday and barely got out of her sloped driveway. Her husband decided to hike up and check out the entrance to the neighborhood before they proceeded, and found six cars, some that had crashed into each other, at the entrance, unable to make it up the hill and out. She has been home from work three days now.

I refused to weigh this morning. No exercise and the stress of being confined to the house is not boding well for the numbers there. I will pass this week. :s:

I hope everyone is doing fine, and warm and safe.

Weight is about the same. Between 160 and 161. Hoping to see a loss soon but not holding my breath. I've been bouncing around this weight for the last three weeks. Sometimes upwards of 163. I'm working out and adding strength training so I'm doing my part. :)

It is really really cold here right now. Though not as cold where you are Ellen. Hope you get defrosted and back to normal soon.

Toni...What did you think of Biggest Loser last night? I just love that show. I'm gonna miss Jillian. I wish they could talk her into staying. I hope Bob doesn't leave also.

Hi ladies. I went to my DD's yesterday since schoolk was closed and everyone would be there and I would be alone. Played with the baby and helped her pack some things. We have been eating out for over a week. It has been stopped. I started the 17 day diet today. Not to bad. Eating food I would never eat before. For lunch I had a salad with canned tuna on it with olive oil and balasamic vinegar. It was pretty good. I figure I can do anything for 17 days and hopefully be motivated to go on to the next 17 days when you add in grains, etc and then caloried cycling (which Gator has lost tons of wt on) and then the next 17 days.

Going to the dr tomorrow. Sure hope he dosen't make me go back to work. I am loving being home.

Watching DrOz while typing this and they are talking about diabetes and pancreatic cancer. Very interesting. Check it out or look at the web site for all of you with diabetes.

Ellen, I can't believe you go so much snow. We only got about 4". Schools were closed yesterday but went today. Luckily we have salt trucks and scrapers. They usually put down brine on the roads the day before the snow is ex[ected. Hope you don't run out of things. Even though we ususally canget out, people still flock to the stores.

Mercee, glad you are mixing up your routines, it really helps. I will find out tomorrow if I can walk on the :tread: or start other things. It is always so cold in Chicago, but I guess you all are used to it. I hate winter so much.

Toni, I am surprised you did not get much snow. Must be the way it came in. It is only 19 here and the wind is horrible, I think the chillfactor is 4. Very coldHope you get your scale soon. I took a 5 lb wt and put it on mine to make sure it was at the right wt. I was actually down 10 lbs since the hospital. Who know what is right.

Crystle, I am surprised that you were sore and you are working hard to work it out. Before you would have waited until it was gone. Good for you. I just heard what was good for sore muscles but as usual I have forgotten. You are a workout fool now. You are catching up with Mercee. I love the BL. I was so glad they all got to stay another week.

Now they are having a lady who left the audience and decided to lose wt. She apparently has a secrete weapon. Can't wait to see what that is. Have a great day. Will talk to you all tomprrow afternoon.

Ellen, I forgot to ask you. This diet tells me to put yogurt in a strainer and bowl and refrigerate to make yogurt cheese. Have you ever done this? What does it taste like. THis was to make a veggie dip.

Ellen
01-12-2011, 09:36 PM
SOLLY: Yes, I have done that. You can also put it in cheese cloth in a strainer to drain. Honestly, though, Greek yogurt is about the same thing! :) It tastes like a mild, no fatty cream cheese and is actually quite good. Its very useful. Many cultures...Indian, Mediterranean, etc., use yogurt cheese a lot.

Well Steve is getting ready to go to town and get my package. Its my new scale. Guess I'll weigh and make that my start. Need to get up and do some cleaning. Its another cold day here again. I think its 15 out.

Solly- How'd your doctor's appointment go? Do you have to go back to work yet? Would love to have the 17 day diet book. Its so darn expensive. No new snow but they're calling for it Sunday.

Crystle- I liked Biggest Loser this week. I can't imagine the show without Jillian. Maybe your body is just adjusting to the working out. Maybe you need to eat a little more.

Ellen- Did you get to the grocery store? I'll need to go Friday or Sat.

Mercee- Wow you've got the snow too. I hate the ice.

Well my battery went down and I lost my post. I went to the Dr today and to make a long story short, I can't drive or go back to work until March 15. I can walk on a treadmill with no incline and slowly. I think I will wait until someone can be with me. I sure don't want to fall off. I had popped one stitch so he had to put benadine on it and dress it. We have to do this 2 times a day so it doesn't get infected.

Toni, Day 2 on my 17 day diet. I hadn't lost any wt this morning. Following it to a T so hoping I see some results soon. You can go to the Docgtors website and click on 17 day diet and I beleive they have the basics on there. It is a good website for blogs, etc. My DD is going to start on Monday. It is going to be hard for her being young and going out all the time. I guess Jillian has had so much success with her new show she will devote more time to it, I hate to see her go but the new ones seem pretty good. Hope you like your new scale. I need one too.

Crystle, I hope to catch up to your new low weight.

Mercee, hope you are doing great today.

Have a great day
Ellen, I love Greek yogurt. I think it tastes like cheesecake.

Tom went to work today. It was slow and some of the roads were still very icy. He made it ok. My daughter went to work today too...her car slid off the road and she landed in a ditch. Some guys came by and towed her out though. Scared me! I hope she can find a safer way to work tomorrow.

Its finally going to warm up a bit tomorrow. Up to around 40 they say. That ought to help the driving situation around here. This has been the worse I have seen in the 40 years I have lived in Georgia!

I kept dinner simple tonight...chicken vegetable soup and grilled ham and cheese. It was classic and pretty good!

I must mosey on to bed. Good night!

Good morning everyone. Its a sunny cold day here. I'm figuring out what to have for breakfast. I love my new scale but it weighed me gaining 3 lbs. more. So I'll go with that. Boy am I sick of being overweight. So I'm back at work on me.

Solly- I'm so glad you're off till March 15th. That's great. Heal and get well. A good time to get your weight going in the right direction. I've read so much about the 17 day diet on the doctor's website. I can't wait till you start getting results. I like the idea of drinking the lemon juice in the morning. My Grandmother lived to be in her 90's and she drank lemon juice every morning.

Ellen- Oh my gosh how scary for your daughter. So glad she wasn't hurt. Hope the car wasn't damaged. I can't believe you've had so much snow. They didn't plow our hill so we can't get our car up the hill here. We hate it cause we need it out of here. Maybe today it will melt some. Your dinner sounds good. I love simple and filling.

Well need to get up and cook. I'm watching Rachael Ray's show. She's cooked like ten things this morning and not one has been healthy.

Ellen

Hello! Its about 40 here, praise God. The snow is melting some, and the roads are looking a good bit better. I am not going out today though. I have a friend coming over for coffee. She lives here, but has been in Washington state caring for her elderly mother. She came home about a month ago and leaves early next week to go back. It looks like they will put her mom in an assisted living facility so she will probably be home for good in a few months. This will be our last coffee date before she leaves.

I prepped a canvas to paint. Not entirely sure what I am going to paint yet, but I am ready! :)

I weighed this morning. I was up 1/2 a pound. Without being able to get out and go to water aerobics, I did not think that was very bad. I just ordered Wii Fit Plus - can't wait for it to get here!- so I will be all set with fun exercise alternatives if I ever get stuck at home again.

Tom and I bowled last night. It was fun...I may go practice some so I can beat him. He beat me soundly last night. :(

TONI: Do you like Rachael Ray? She is my least favorite on the Food Network. I think my favorite is Ina Garten- Barefoot Contessa. I also like Giada DeLaurentis, but her food is often not very healthy. And then, there is Paula Deen! I LOVE watching her, but I swear she doesn't cook anything remotely healthy! Everything has at least a stick of butter in it! :)

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. I went and spent some time with my mama. She hasn't been feeling very well. She gave me a wonderful hammered aluminum pot that matches a larger on I have. Papa Honey bought her a set of stone pots he saw on tv. They seem to be pretty good. She gave me the small fry pan and it cooks an egg with no oil and really does just wipe clean. Even when I melted a spoon on the edge is just wiped off.

Solly..thanks for your encouragement. I'm whiny about working my tootie off and the scales not cooperating. Goal is so close and yet at the same time so far away if that makes any sense. I read an article in a magazine the other day and a lady my height started her journey at my goal weight and then lost 30 pounds. Sometimes those kind of articles drive me nuts. I'm glad you are going to be able to slowly walk on your treadmill. It will make you feel better to be moving. AWESOME that you get to stay home and heal.

Ellen...you'll be beating Tom in no time. You just have to find the place in the game to throw the ball and always throw your arm the same way. If you take less of a typical bowling throw and just jerk the controller it gives you more accuracy. :) I didn't get a chance to respond about good games the other day. I've heard the just dance is a great way to burn calories and a lot of fun. No special equipment required.

Toni..woo hoo. So glad you got your new scales. I've been threatening mine that if they don't go down I might get new ones. It just mocks me. ;) I'm sorry to see Jillian leave but excited for her. She wants to adopt I've heard and wants to put her energy into that. Plus she is spokes woman for so many products and sites now.

Mercee...How is your week going? Have you had to battle with a plateau yet?

Time to figure out some lunch before it is dinner time. I'm thinking of fish tacos. I had some for breakfast yesterday and they really hit the spot. Only about 275 calories for two. Sauteed onions, jalapeno, a little over 4 ounces of tilapia and two corn tortillas. I topped that with hot sauce. Today I may make a little pico de gallo for the top.

((Everybody)) May each day bring you a step closer to your goals. May you love yourself and know you are the best you ever!

God bless,
Crystle

Good afternoon ladies, It has been a busy day. My DD wanted me to go to Sams to get diapers and wipes for my other DD since I have he Sams card. So we did that and then she needed some things from Kroger so I picked up a turkey breaST TO cook and a couple things. We are having game night wih my DD's friends tonite so that will be fun. I will be drinking my water.

Unfortunately, I have not lost any more wt. I think it may be due to not exercsing at all. Maybe this weekend I can start walking on the :tread:

Ellen, how scarry about your DD. I so worry about my kids driving in this stuff. I think we are expecting some more snow tomorrow night. I hope it is not much. Actually the Baefoot Contessa is my least favorite. I hate her voice and how she is slow moving. My friend's mother is in her 90's and she has drank green tea everday. Glad you got a Wii fit. My DD has one. See your MIL can be nice.

Toni, 3 lbs i snot much at least you have an number to start with. I put a weight on it to see if it was the same as the wt. You might try that. I have the worst time figuring out what to eat for lunch. I like RR's 30 minute meals. I used to watch her while I was on the bike. I don't like her as a talk show though.

Mercee and Crystle, have a great weekend.

Don't know what my weekend plans are so don't know if I will get here or not. Have a good one.

It is a balmy 50 here today! The snow is melting and there are actually patches of grass beginning to show under the snow. I am very thankful for the warmth and sun.

Not much to report. I hope you two following this 17 day diet find success.

We have Apples of Gold at church tonight. It was so much fun last week....and I am really looking forward to it.

Not a lot going on this afternoon. After doing my chores and my workout I decided to have jammie day. So I took my shower and here I sit in my jammies. :)

I had to weigh in for a team challenge yesterday and lost a few ounces to get to 159. Just barely but enough to count..LOL

Toni and Solly...can't wait to see how the 17 day diet works. I'm always looking for ways to improve on my eating plan.

Ellen..so glad it is warming up for you all. We didn't have snow but I did not like the cold temps. It is almost 60 this afternoon.

Mercee..hope you are having a super weekend.

Went to Water Aerobics this morning. The pool heater was broken and the water was COLD!!! We moved extra to get warm in there.

I am about to head out and meet my friend for lunch. We both found we were free today so we will get together one more time before she heads back to Washington to care for her mom a few more months.

Blood sugar levels have not been good. I hope getting back into an exercise routine will help. And my Wii Fit Plus is supposed to arrive on Thursday. That will help! :)

It's been a LONG time since I found my way to this board... and today I was looking for Deb's "Famous Cheesecake" Recipe that some of you old-timers here might remember. Never found it, though.

To all of you here who remember me... I've gotten divorced, remarried, been diagnosed with thyroid disease, my diabetes got worse and I'm now on shots AND pills, my fibromyalgia is the same, I've BLOWN any resemblance of a healthy way of eating for the last 2 years since I got married and am now at my HIGHEST weight since giving birth... oh and I got a new puppy and my kids are still fabulous :)

To those of you who I have yet to meet... HI! :)

I started a new exercise class in town called DanceTrance, which is just like High Intensity Hip Hop Dance Class... and they started a weight loss competition at the beginning of this year. I figured - SB WORKED for me so well when I REALLY DID IT, why not incorporate it back into my life so that I can be healthy AND get back into my fat pants - yes folks, I've gained SO MUCH weight that even my stand-by fat clothes got TOO SMALL.

I'll go ahead and admit that I'm now 242 pounds. Yeah... it's just a number, it doesn't define me - but it's UNHEALTHY. I'm 5'6 and I really need to be around 150... so I have to do something to get rid of this barrage of health issues that have come with the weight.

Some of my eating is emotional, yes... but MOST of my food issue is that I HATE to cook, I am NEVER prepared in advance, I'm VERY LAZY and I ADORE the taste of FOOD! I eat waaaaay past my "full" feeling because even though my body is done, my mouth still wants to TASTE the food!

I really have to find my motivation this time around... I HAVE TO. I can't be this unhealthy and miserable any longer. I've been married a whopping 8 months and my horrible self image is threatening it already... I feel awful about myself and I take it out on everyone around me.

So here I am... hat in hand... begging for some ideas, some support and just a general shoulder while I'm struggling with this journey yet again.

My SB low back in 2002 was 173 pounds... what I wouldn't give to see that again! I'm being realistic this time around. Mini-Goals of each 10 pound marker. Let's start with getting below the 240 mark. I can do it.

I hope all of you are finding yourselves successful this new year... and if anyone is interested in being email buddies *(since I lose this darn board more often than I find it)* to stay accountable... my email addy is g8rzgirl at gmail dot com

Great to see some familiar faces... somebody duct tape me to my chair QUICK! :dizzy:

BETH!!! What a joy to see a post from you! (Monet=Ellen) Yes, you can do it! Do it for YOU. And since you are motivated and working on you, you can relax, and love yourself. No reason to beat yourself up, make yourself miserable, and push away the folks who love you. We are about the same weight, and we have the same issues...thyroid, diabetes, fibromyalgia (which is very connected to the thyroid issues) I will email you as soon as I finish this....

Tom came home tonight and was not feeling well. My wonderful Cauliflower dal recipe was about done...so I had a bit by myself while he is resting. It turned out pretty good. Guess I will go and put it all into containers and save it for tomorrow night's dinner.

Just three more days until my Wii Fit Plus arrives! Woo hoo!

Can't wait until tomorrow. I ordered a Jillian Michaels shred DVD from netflix to see if I can like it before I buy one. I love Leslie Sansone but sometimes I get tired of the same moves. I added some squats, lunges, planks and push-ups today. It sounds like a lot but I don't do very many of them.

My other spoil is that I am finally getting an iphone...yeah!!

BETH!!!! So good to see you again. Many of us gained back weight and are working to get it back off again. You CAN do this. Along with this site I use SparkPeople. It is free and there is TONS of support and ideas. Simple steps that anyone can do that build up to major success.

Ellen...sorry your hubby isn't feeling well. Praying he feels better soon. I can't believe you got in the pool with no heater...I'm shivering just thinking about it. I'm so excited about your WII fit. You'll have to let us know about it. I doubt I could ever get one but you never know.

Man I've been so lazy today. I'm finally getting on here. Why is it an hour after I eat my stomach is growling? I get so tired of that. I'll be interested to see if I've lost weight Wednesday. They're calling for snow maybe Wed. or Wed. night with a cold front coming in. Not looking forward to that.

Ellen- Wow I can't imagine how cold that water was. You're so brave for getting in to it. Hope your BS is good... Can't wait to hear how your Wii Fit plus goes. Sorry Tom is under the weather.

Beth- My goodness its good to see you. You've been through allot. I've gained all my weight back too. So I'm starting over from scratch. Stay with us. You know this is the place to be. Yoo Hoo girl....

Crystle- Wow you're doing good in the exercise dept. Thats my downfall I need to get up and move and its been so long its so hard for me. But thats only an excuse. Keep up the good work. You're totally an inspiration.

Where are you Solly and Mercee? Hope you're having a good day.

I have a Wii... is the Wii Fit a good investment? I'm afraid I'll buy it and it won't be something interesting and it will just SIT THERE like our Kinect for our XBox 360. We played the Dance game on that for about a week and haven't touched it since.

BETH: I will let you know. My daughter has the original Wii Fit, and the other daughter got the Wii Fit Plus for Christmas. They played it here on my new Wii that they gave me for Christmas. It looks like fun. I remember really enjoying some of the games on the original and they are all on the plus edition. Things like slalom skiing, and ski jumps. The yoga was good for working on balance, etc. I think it even has jogging and walking games on it. Just like anything else, you have to commit to doing it daily for it to do any good. I enjoyed it and did when my daughter lived here and her Wii was here, then she moved out and took it with her! (can you believe it?? ;) ) Anyway, I will give a report once I get mine..but I am excited and it costs too much to let it just sit there.

Well, It's TUESDAY! I didn't do anything exercise-wise yesterday unless you count chasing the puppy around the yard!!! Today I brought my workout clothes with me to work and I'm going to DanceTrance after work. It's an hour and a half of high intensity so I will be exhausted I'm sure! It's been over a week since I've been and I know I'll be one tired chick!

I've already had a whole bottle of water this morning! I really HAVE to work on my water consumption. I'm terrible about not drinking enough fluids during the day, which I'm sure isn't helping my fluid retention! Then I take Lasix for the edema and if I don't drink enough I end up with a KILLER Dehydration headache. Funny how I can be swollen and dehydrated at the same time! :dizzy:

Today I had a low-carb protein bar for breakfast. Not totally SB legal but I was running late and it was better than skipping breakfast completely or stopping and getting fast food. Sometimes you just have to make the best choice for your situation and I feel like I did that this morning.

Lunch is going to be bagged salad with spray-on dressing. I'm not much of a dressing person, really but that spray kind is pretty good. I just really like veggies so I'll mostly pick out the veggies around the lettuce anyway...LOL!

Dinner is up for grabs. Might be salad with tuna... I really need some protein so I'll probably try and at least broil myself a frozen chicken breast. I usually keep a bag of those for those times when the family wants pizza, etc... it's a habit I got OUT of and I was eating that pizza or burgers or fries with the family and I need to get back IN the habit of having things available for myself when they choose things that are not healthy for me.

I'm trying not to say "things I can't have" because that just makes it SO tempting for me to eat them... like the sneaky kid in me wants to see if I can get away with it because I'm "not supposed to"... so I'm going to say that I CAN have them - but I am CHOOSING not to eat those things because they are unhealthy for me! I can eat them... but they will do nothing but prolong my journey back to being HEALTHY (and lets face it - back to the pants size I want to be!!!:p)!!! What is it they say - When you cheat, you only cheat YOURSELF. Boy isn't that the truth. I have to get in a state of mind where I realize that I am WORTH more than being cheated, especially by MYSELF!

Oh well... I better get some work done. Gotta head to the doc this morning because I have broken out in some kind of rash and I'm a compulsive scratcher and I've gotten the darn thing infected... UGH!

I'll be weighing in today at DanceTrance for the competition ... I'll have to see if it's lower than the 242 I was last time I weighed there a week ago. I really hope so, but I have no idea because my eating was junk this week while I was snowed in... :)

ELLEN - Hope those blood tests come back GREAT!!! :)

Hope you all have a GREAT day!!! Do something for YOU!!!

Morning! Back from the doctor's office, store for pharmacy stuff, and just finished breakfast. (gluten free english muffin with Whole Foods sausage patty on one side. Yum! Its organic pork and low fat) Got a cup of coffee too.

Tom is home sick today with some intestinal crud. He is a bit better now than he was last night and this morning. I just gave him some applesauce and he seems to be tolerating that ok. He also had a half cup of coffee to help get rid of his headache. Poor baby!

The doctor visit was about 50% frustrating. An improvement... He was going to give me some kind of cream for my ear (have a raw place on it and he was concerned about it...wants me to go to a dermatologist if it doesn't heal.) but he forgot. One of the nurses pulled him out of the room half way through my appointment. He came back in and acted distracted. I asked for refills on all my prescriptions. He gave me a sheet with them all on it, and I could not read the handwriting. I got to the pharmacy and he had forgotten two of my meds, and added Zocor, which I do NOT take. The Pharmacist called and he said he wanted me to take it. Nope. Not going to do it. I have read too much negative stuff about statins and how they are NOT the panacea for cholesterol problems, but are pushed by the pharmaceutical companies because they make so much money on them. There is NO evidence they will prevent a heart attack or stroke for people who have no previous problems. There are risks too...the cause muscle pain (Tom stopped taking them for that reason) and other side effects. So, no statins for me. I HAVE to find a new doctor. They are supposed to call with my results. He said tomorrow. I won't hold my breath. Usually they take a week or more. The only good thing was that he seemed laid back and not very upset about my bg numbers. He said he would rather see them lower, but I should relax as they are not terrible. That was a relief. He told me I was on a very low dose of one of my meds, and he increased it to see if it would help. Interesting...the last doctor told me I was maxed out and needed insulin. Do doctors make more money prescribing insulin? Argh.

Off to see what I need to get done around here. I woke up at 4 and could not get back to sleep, as I realized I did not know where I had left my knitting bag. I think I worked it out, but it took until 6 am. I am going to try and run by the church today and see if that is where I left it. If not, I am going to be upset. I have a half done shawl for myself in the bag and the yarn to finish it with.

Hi ladies, sorry I was MIA. My DD was out of school yesterday since it was MLK day so we packed up some of the office and staighteed some of her spare room plus went to the grocery to get her started on the 17 day diet. All my girls are doing it and need it so it is nice to have people to share with. As of today I am down 13 pounds. It has not been bad. I am just not used to eating all fish or chicken, turkey and veggies. I get yougurt and one other probiotic. It is just not the way I eat but I love the loss and it motivates me to do it for 17 days. I can do anything for that.

Ellen,I hope your DH is feeling better soon. When my DD & SIL move in with me they have a Wii fit so I will get her to hook it up. I bet that cold water helped burn off some calories too.

Toni, I miss my wine but I am doing this. I have been to happy hour and drank water and I have bunco tomorrow night which I will drink water. You get wine back I think in cycle 3. I did not read too much ahead b/c it is confusing, I look at the book 100 times a day. Sometimes I don't get me 2 snacks in so I know I need to eat more.

Crystle, I am curous how you like the video. That is good that you can check them out on Netflex first. I love jammie days too, I do that sometimes noiw,

Beth, so glad to see you back. Don't worry about your wt and take it one day at a time. No you are right saying you are not saying "Can't" have something. I keep saying it I will get it back but I need to learn how to eat it and not go haywire. Good luck with your dance workout. I have had back suregery so I have not done any exercise yet but planning to try the :tread: a little now.

It is almost lunch time so I am off to see what I can have. See you tomorrow.

Good afternoon everyone. Just woke up from a little nap and missed Dr. Oz darn it. Our county trucks have been working on roads today so we're kind of trapped in here. The loggers that have been working around here have ruined our road to get out of here. What a muddy mess. They're calling for snow on Thursday. Eating has been pretty good. Had some avocado for lunch and a peanut butter and sugar free sand. on whole grain bread for breakfast. Just had a few almonds for a snack. All high calorie foods but good for you.

Solly- I can't wait for the book. I've read and read on the boards at the doctors board on the diet. I wish I would hurry and get started. Wow 13 lbs. is great. You're so lucky to have someone to do it with.

Ellen- Sorry your doctor's visit wasn't helpful. I hate taking lots of medicine but I do. Did you find your knitting? Hope Tom is having a better day.

Beth- The danceing class sounds fun. Bet you're hungry today. Try not to eat the house down when you get home. LOL..... You need a big pot of veggie beef soup waiting for you when you get home.

Mercee-Glad you had a nice three day week end.

Crystle- Hows the work out going? Whats ya cooking today? Hope you're doing fine.

I think I am too lazy for the Jillian workout. Every time I started on it the phone rang. I wasn't really feeling it. But I never got past the push-ups. I did do the jumping jacks. :) I did make up for it by doing two workouts today. I did a three mile dvd earlier and just finished a two mile dvd. Also did a little strength training.

We won't talk about eating. Okay I will. Lunch was tortilla chips and green salsa.:dizzy: I was gonna eat just one or two and ended up eating more than I planned so I made it lunch. Not sure what dinner is going to be. I haven't had fish tacos in a while.

Solly...woo hoo 13 pounds is GREAT!

Toni...do you live on a dirt road? I do and this rain has it a mess.

Ellen...I am praying you can find a doctor that you like and is knowledgeable in the issues that you are dealing with. One that has a kind staff and a caring heart.

There is a bath calling my name. I can't wait to soak. Hot water has become my new best friend. :)

God bless,

Happy Hump Day!!!
I weighed in last night at DanceTrance and I lost 4 pounds this week!!! WOOHOO!!! :carrot: Not too bad considering I have not been totally SB legal nor have I been exercising like I need to... I can just imagine how much better I can do when I'm sticking to SB and working out! It's nice to see a loss, that is my biggest motivator! I had half a grilled chicken breast and a huge helping of green beans when I got home... then I sacked out with a book! I was a tired girl!

I remembered my gym bag today so no excuses not to go again tonight! I did forget to pack a lunch today... but I'm really craving salad! I love the veggies so I'll probably get a salad from a fast food place. Some of those are high calorie, I know... but I only use a tiny bit of dressing and it's better than a burger and fries, I'm sure! Anybody have any idea which place has the "best" option for a salad when I'm out and about?

ELLEN - I've talked to you on Facebook about the doctor situation - I hope you manage to find one that meets ALL your needs!!! Just keep doing what you know is good for you and stand up for what YOU know your body needs! I hope you're not a member of the Polar Bear Club today! ;)

SOLLY - 13 pounds is TERRIFIC!! I'm down a total of 7 pounds since January 4th... isn't the loss motivating?!? Keep up the good work! :)

MERCEE - Hiiiii :)

TONI - I laughed so hard when I realized that I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what "sugar free sand" was - then realized you meant SANDWICH! Bahahahahaha... I haven't had any caffeine yet this morning! LOL I know what you mean about the high calorie snacks. I'm not worrying too much about it right now as long as the choices I make are SB legal.

When I did this the first time, I got some great advice that even if I had to eat an entire box of Triscuits in one sitting in the first week or so - it was a matter of getting rid of the bad foods and stopping my body from craving them. So a box of Triscuits vs. a bag of chips ... I never actually ate a whole BOX - but it made me realize that until I got out of feeling like I was desperate for the non-SB foods, the servings didn't matter so much... as long as I was making good choices. Of course you can't continue on like that or eventually the serving sizes will increase your pants size, but it worked REALLY well for me to be able to think, Yes, I'm limiting WHAT I eat - but as a bonus right now I won't limit how MUCH of the good things I have. Then once I got to where I was making good choices without having to really think about it (about 2 weeks for me, personally) I started limiting my servings. Honestly, the change my body makes when I switch to SB foods, I lost a great amount of weight even NOT watching my serving size. If that's not proof to me that I am VERY sensitive to those foods, I don't know what is!!!

Well it's time to do some work ... this paper on my desk isn't gonna file itself, unfortunately!! I hope everyone has a great Wednesday! I'm off to change my ticker!! WOOT WOOT!

Well stayed the same this week. Darn it. I was just sure I had lost. I was surprised when I got on the scale. Its a cold and gloomy morning here. We have to run to the market this morning and get a few things before the snow hits tomorrow.

Beth- sounds like you're doing great. What ever works for you is the best. You're right sometimes just changeing your eating habits is great. I'm not getting any exercise in and I think thats my problem.

Crystle- Yep live on a dirt road, actually its a big hill. Its a mess and I dread going up it today. Sure sounds like your work out is great. Wish I would get off my butt and do some. Keep up the good work.

Will check back later.

Ellen. sorry you didn't love your Dr. Yes, I think they make money for everything. My co-worker had the same problem with the Zocor, herlegs ached. Hope you found your knitting.

Toni, you could go on and get started on the diet. Email me if you have any questions. Did you join a site on the Doctor's website. I am afraid you will not be able to get out after we get this snow. We are expecting 3-6" tonight. I am hoping schools areclosed tomorrow so Ican spend the day with my girls. I get bored with no one to talk to here. Remember, we can do anything for 17 days.

Mercee, glad you hada great time off with your DH.

Beth, 7 lbs is great. Keep up the good work. A loss is such motivation. Portion sizes are a big deal. Cut down if you can. Keep making good choices b/c you will se a loss from that. Glad you liked your dancing class.

Crystle, I don't think those chips will hurt you. That wasn't much of a lunch anyway. You are exercisng so much anyway you worked it off.

I did get on the :tread: for 15 minutes last night. Held on and only went 2.5 mph. I forgot today was Wed and forgot to weigh. My DD dropped the baby off at the sitter and then came home to change my bandages. She fixed her breakfast and I ate forgetting to weigh so I will stick with my 13 lbs this week. I have decided to reward myself after the first 17 days with something, Not getting clothes until I am ready to go back to work and hopefully down 30 lbs. Maybe some shoes. OK off to walk on the treadmill some. No one is here but I think I will be ok. Going slow. Have a great day

Morning! I have gone to water aerobics, acted like a polar bear (the heater was NOT fixed and the pool was 80 degrees! brrr!) and had breakfast. I really need to get my self organized and get some things done. Tom went back to work today after being off sick yesterday. I feel like I can accomplish something today with it being only 10:30!

My morning glucose levels were better this morning, which interested me greatly. Last night before bed I had a piece of toast with some cinnamon on it. I am wondering if it was that, or the fact that the doctor gave me an antibiotic for a sinus infection. Or both. So this morning, part of my breakfast was a gluten free English muffin with cinnamon on it. I used about 1/4 of a teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the top both times, and it actually tastes very good. I will gradually decrease the sugar until I use plain cinnamon.

I went to the web page of my old doctor...the really good diabetes doctor who was arrested for molesting his women patients...and read up on the diet and exercise he recommended for his patients. I wrote it all down and will start trying to incorporate a lot of his advice. Some of it I already follow...his diet is almost exactly SB, with a bit of the Mediterranean diet thrown in. He did have his patients count calories too, so I will follow the guidelines and watch the calorie counts too. For the first time in years and years, I feel hopeful that I can make progress, and its a nice feeling!

BETH: Yay! Good for you! I think Chick Fil A has the best salads. Do you have one near you?

MERCEE: I love when I get to spend fun time with Tom. Last week with all the snow started out fun... until cabin fever began.

COUNTRY: You are my hero...two workouts in one day!

TONI: I hate when there is road construction around me. Hope you can get out with out any problems soon! I am all for naps! Took one myself yesterday!

SOLLY: That is a wonderful loss! How are you feeling? Stronger and better I hope!

Oh, and I still have not put my hands on my knit bag. I am reasonably sure I left it at the church and we have potluck tonight, so I will find it then. If I don't find it there tonight, THEN I will be upset! :)

Good morning ladies:

Congrats to all the losers great job. I forgot to weigh in this morning. I was in a hurry.

Solly- Congrats on your loss of 13lbs that is great. Keep up the good work.

Beth- 4 lbs down that is great.

Toni- It is reallycole here today and we are expecting snow tomorrow as well. Hope you get out to the store before the weather gets snowy.

Crystle- How were your fish tacos? I haven't tried any of Jillian's workouts. I really like the Biggest Loser Power Walk dvd. I usually do it twice a week just to mix things up.

Ellen- Sorry your doctor isn't helping much . Glad that your numbers are better.

Well back to work for me ladies. After work I will hit the gym tonight. Our gym got all new treadmills last week with individual tv.s I can't wait until they are hooked up. Have a great day everyone.

Beth I forgot to say congadulations on the 4 lbs. Way to go girl......

SOLLY - oh yes I know the portions are important... I'm just saying that for me, personally, when I decided to go from all junk to SB there was a period of time where I was feeling very desperate for a "fix" of bad food and the advice I was given was that if I had to eat a LOT of something "legal" to get me through that, it was better than eating the junk instead. Once I got over the "DT's" (LOL) I was able to control the portion sizes. Different things for different people, I know... but that method helped me lose 40 pounds in 4 months the first time I did SB - that was 9 years ago, though and my metabolism is slower now so I'm being more careful but it's still a rule that I follow for myself :)

ELLEN - OMGosh! I can't believe you even got IN that water! Not this chick!!! I'll stick to my dry land exercises, thanks! Sounds like your old pervy doctor has some great information on his page that you can still use... good for you for looking it up!! :) We do have Chick-Fil-A here and there is one close! That's a good idea!!!

TONI - Thanks :) We had snow last week and this week is rainy and dreary so I'm ready for some SUNSHINE and dry ground, as well! This Alabama red clay makes the nastiest mud that stains and never comes out!

MERCEE - Thank you! I love those treadmills... I can watch whatever I want and get lost in the tv and forget how far I've gone instead of just staring at the darn numbers constantly. That makes me so antsy!

Ok... off to go have myself a good lunch! Grilled chicken salad I believe is today's choice! I also realized I need a good snack before I leave work to go to Dance because yesterday I felt like CRAP during class and realized it was because I hadn't eaten anything since lunch and that is HIGH intensity... I almost fell out! Probably keep some almonds or peanuts in my desk or maybe some peanut butter and an apple... IDK...

I forgot to weigh this morning, I failed to mention that earlier. I just went to the store and picked up prescriptions...not sure if this was a mistake or what, but the doctor gave me a higher dose of one of my thyroid meds. Its ok with me. ;) We will see how the numbers go after a month on it I guess. Maybe my last numbers were not as good as I thought they were and they never changed the prescription for me. More reason to ponder who my next doctor will be.

I got a box of Clementines at the store. OH MY GOSH! This is the BEST batch of them I have ever had. Just fantastic. Its going to be hard not to eat the whole thing in one sitting. :)

I'm feeling VERY frustrated due to a massive CLUSTER*beep* with my husband's job situation right now. I'm trying VERY hard not to let it stress me to the point that I allow it to influence my eating. I've made good choices this week and I need to continue to do so regardless of any outside issues!

I did go to Dance last night... and I took a girl from work and she loved it! Now I might have a workout buddy right here in the building who can help drag me there on days I don't want to go!

I'm going to do another contest on top of the one at Dance... our state is doing a contest called Scale Back Alabama. It's for teams of 4 people and if everyone on your team loses 10 pounds in 10 weeks you are all entered to win $1000 each. I have two of the girls from Dance already interested, now to find one more girl. Maybe I'll ask the coworker! Money is some extra motivation to stick to the plan and keep exercising!! :)

Well I'm annoyed and frustrated and a little ticked off so I'm going to channel the energy and try and get some work done this morning!!!

Have a GREAT day everyone! :grouphug:

Good morning ladies. I am movongslow this morning. Just didn't want toget up. Went to dinner last night at a place Iwould never pick, butIgot chicken fajitas w/o the sour cream, guac, and tortillia, so I just ate the chicken and peppers and onions. It had some mediteranen marinate and it was very spicy. Ithink I drank 6 glasses of water. I did not have a drink and we went back to the girls house for dessert and prizes and she had a die for cake and I passed and just had coffee. I was proud of myself. The scale was up 1 lb today but I am not worried about it. Wt flucuates and not to worry.

Toni, did you get alot of snow yet? It has not started here and is expected this afternoon and night. Schools are releasing early. This was the first weekend I have made it totally legal with no wine. I think I can do this. Has your book come yet? Staying the same is ok much better than gaining. Hang in there. I have been walking on the treadmill for 17 minutes every day. The diet says 17 minutes of exercise 2 times a day. So get on the :tread:

Ellen, 80 may be a little cold for me. I am a warm water fan. Burn those calories. Glad you are getting some diet info from your old dr. Got to make the best of it. Hope you find your knitting tonight. I love Clementines, no seeds.

Beth, Don't turn your frustration to food, do some exercise or work. Losing for money is a great motivation. Having an exercise buddy will be so much help to make you go.

Crystle,

Waiting on DH to come home for lunch. It will be turkey, maybe a salad with turkey. Yum. Dinner is a chicken stir fry. Never have done it before so we will see.

Have a great day.

Hello! I did not make it in time to say good morning..so good afternoon! :)

I found my knitting bag last night. It was at the church on one of the tables in the fellowship hall where we met Sunday night. I did NOT put it there, so I guess it got moved when they were setting up Sunday night and I did not see it with my book and notebook and forgot it. I knitted some during the potluck and Bible study last night, so all is good.

I feel bad this morning...sore throat and tightness in my chest that signals the onset of bronchitis to me. I plan to rest and try and beat it before it gets worse. I am on antibiotics too, which ought to help.

My Wii Fit is supposed to be delivered today. Once it gets here, I make no promises to stay in bed resting. ;)

SOLLY: Good for you passing up the cake! And passing up the extras at the restaurant! I have such a hard time passing up the chips at Mexican restaurants. I could eat several baskets of them myself without even realizing it.

BETH: That is right..don't spoil your good choices by caving for emotional eating. Not worth it! I hope you find a fourth team member, and you win that moola! You can come to Hotlanta to spend it! No?! I will be happy to help...

Well I guess I can quit whining about the scales not moving. Down two pounds this week. :) The pounds from goal. My bmi is now 24.8. That was my biggest goal, to get unto 25.

I'm so excited. I finally got my new phone. It is an older model iphone but I love it. Still have stuff to learn but that is the best part.

Mercee...I didn't get my fish tacos the other night but I did eat some fish. I actually had fish the last two nights. I've been craving it. One night I had fish and asparagus and last night fish and broccoli. I'm glad you mentioned the walking video. I've really thought about trying it. My only concern is that it only has mile walks. Congratulations on 4 pounds. That is AWESOME!

Beth...hang in there. When you emotions push you toward food tell them to BACK OFF  Competition is a great motivator to work hard and lose more. I joined a 5 percent challenge back in Dec. We have two more weigh ins to go. If I can keep the weight off I meet my goal..woo hoo. I may enter the next one they have to keep me in line.

Ellen...I am SO sorry you are not feeling well. Praying you feel better soon so you can enjoy your new toy. :) Maybe the cold water is not so good. Burrrr I don't know how you did it. You are one strong woman. I'm shivering just thinking about it.

Solly...WTG walking on your treadmill. I'm so happy you are able to get back to it because I know how much you enjoy walking. Awesome passing on the cake. I know I would have had to have at least a bite. ;) I'm terrible.

Toni...Staying the same is good. You are adjusting to eating better. Bet next week you have a bigger lose. Is that your treadmill I hear calling Toni...Tooooni.. :)

I love you ladies and hope and pray you have a super rest of the week. Remember you are amazing, beautiful, talented, strong women. You are the BEST you there is.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Got about 2 or more inches of snow early this morning. Its very cold and supposed to get down to 5 degrees tonight. Glad I don't have to go out in it. We've just been having a quiet nice day here. Just had a few almonds as a snack.

Beth- sorry you're upset today. Hope it gets better. That's so cool you got to go to your dance class. The contest sounds great. I wish I lived around you to go and join in. sounds like fun.

Solly- I hate to go without the wine, I really enjoy it. You did so good at the Mexican place. I love chicken fajitas. The thing I'm worried about on the diet is the yogurt. And all the eggs. I'm not a big fan of either. But will do what I have to do. I haven't even got an email that says they've mailed my book. Did you get one when it was on its way?

Ellen- Oh no not a sore throat. How miserable. How bout some lemon and honey to drink? I hope you get your wii fit plus today. Glad you found the knitting.

Crystle-Woo hoo 2 lbs. that's great. All your hard work is paying off. Keep up the good work. Your BMI is amazing.

Mercee- Hi gal hope you're alright today.

My Wii Fit Plus came a few hours ago and I got it all set up, registered on it, and did the body fitness tests and fifteen minutes of training. I thought that was not too bad for being sick. My Wii fitness age is the same as I am old...not too bad! :) My balance is better than it was when I used my daughters a few years ago. I think that is because I am stronger due to water aerobics. There were a few exercises I tried that I could just not do. I hope I improve! hehe....

I just walked down to my neighbors and let her dog out for her. They have to work late. Should have fed him too, poor baby. He is a really sweet dog. He likes me too. :) The walk down there is only a few houses down, about half a block, but it was cold and its hilly in my neighborhood. My throat and chest did not like the cold or the exertion in the cold. So I am drinking a hot cup of decaf green tea and relaxing.

COUNTRY: Yay! You are amazing! What kind of phone did you get? I love my iPhone. If you got an iPhone, I know some great apps you might be interested in. One is Spark People's recipes. Its got just about everything on it! I have found a lot of great recipes on it.

TONI: Enjoy the quiet! You have to eat eggs and yogurt on that diet? I could do the yogurt, but I am allergic to eggs. Do they give alternatives for people who can't eat that stuff?

We had taco's for dinner. They were okay not great.

Afternoon! I have been taking it easy today. I just finished up a big bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. I used whole wheat pasta in it, as I did not have any rice pasta. It was wonderful! I do love soup on a cold day.

My morning blood sugar was good, so I am feeling encouraged. I hope it stays there.

Since I am still sick, and actually losing my voice now, I had to call my son in law and tell him I could not take my grandson tonight. Broke my heart. I have not seen him for almost three weeks. He was so excited about coming over here, and had been packing up his batman toys to bring. :( I hate that. I really miss him and he is growing up so fast!

I ought to go play some Wii fit today. I am tired though, and not feeling up to it. I may try some after I take a nap! :)

Ok, that is about all I can think of for a check in. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'm SO glad it's Friday!!! I can't wait to get out of this place for the weekend!!! Whew! I'm really happy to have a job but some days I just really get my absolute fill of politics and stupidity!

I was good yesterday and had lots of veggies and salad. I probably needed more protein than I ate, but overall it was a good day.

I was NOT, however, good this morning!!! I ate a Chicken/Egg/Cheese Bagel from Chick-Fil-A. I should NOT have eaten it... but I did and I'm not going to chalk the entire day up to failure, I had salad for lunch and I will eat a legal dinner! I have to weigh in on Monday for my Dance contest so I need to stay legal ALL WEEKEND!

It's freezing cold here, and we got more snow again last night. The first time it was neat... the second time it was pretty cool because we got a large amount... but a third time? Really? This is ALABAMA... we don't like, need, want (or know how to drive in!) this crap!! Bring me some sunshine, people! I don't mind the cold weather but this snow is making it a slushy red-clay fest in my yard and muddy paws are a disaster on my carpet! For those of you unfamiliar with Alabama Red Clay, it stains SO BADLY that people use it to dye novelty TShirts!

Well, I'm off to finish my lunch break... my salad was really good even if I did wish it were a big fat bacon cheeseburger. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Doing a load of wash and thinking I need to rustle up something to eat. All I've had was some greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom. Now I've got to get some that hasn't the fruit in it and try to put some of my own. Has anyone tried Truvia the sugar sub. I'm wondering how it tastes before I buy some.

Ellen- Your soup sounds wonderful. I may have to make some. Maybe I'll take out my chicken carcass and do that tomorrow. I hope you feel better soon and it doesn't turn into something really bad. Thats ashame about your Grandson.

Beth- Happy for you its Friday. We have a yard filled with snow here too and maybe more this afternoon. It was 5 degrees last night and really cold today. Good day for some hot tea and maybe soup.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

BETH: You think Alabama red clay is bad? Georgia's is worse! I am SURE! :) (actually its probably the same stuff...)

TONI: I had chicken soup for lunch...its even better the second day!

Just ate three clementines. They are not the really tiny ones either...but they are just SO good...and I figured the vitamin C was good for me. Plus I did not eat any fruit with breakfast. :s:

Off to try and take a nap....

I just finished a huge bowl of homemade turkey soup with brown and wild rice. It was so pretty with little bits of carrot floating in it. I was working out and could smell it cooking. I didn't think I'd ever get finished to get a bowl. I'm thinking some hot orange tea would top it off nicely.

Ellen..thanks for the apps. I haven't played any yet but I have them downloaded. I found out what the plus meant so I was able to download some I had originally skipped. Sorry you are still feeling poorly and can't see your grand baby.

Toni...I tried the Truvia and liked it but I had a bad reaction and have been afraid to try it again.

Beth..hang in there. One meal off plan doesn't really mess you up as long as you stay in your range and keep moving.

Solly...hope you are having a good day.

Think I'll make that tea and then have a nice soak before it gets too cold.

Crystle- The turkey soup sounds so good. Wish I had a bowl of it. Will get some truvia when I grocery shop and try it. I hope I like it.

Good Morning everyone. I'm pretty proud of my last two days... I didn't let that slip up the other day determine how my week would be! I ate out a little too much this weekend, but I did manage to stay away from wheat/bread/potato products at least. The fried stuff I ate, though, not so good! When I got on the scale yesterday at DT I was up 2 pounds, but I also never take my lasix on the weekends and I always end up bloating up a couple of pounds. That's why Tuesday is my official contest weekly weigh in day. It gives me Monday on lasix to get that fluid back down. I did DanceTrance last night, and ate grilled steak, salad and green beans. This morning I went to the gym with DH and did 2 miles on the recumbent bike and 1.15 miles on the treadmill at 3.5mph. I really only stopped because I was bored. I sat in the sauna for 10 minutes and then headed home. Didn't want to overdo it anyway because I have DT again tonight at 6:15.

Today I forgot to eat breakfast! UGH! But after the gym I had salad and a small piece of leftover grilled steak. Dinner is marinating and it appears to be grilled chicken in the making... I'm not the cook in the house! LOL

I am doing really well at getting in my 5 days of exercise since I committed to do so! I'm really proud of myself. I know that it's really important especially if I don't have a great day eating-wise at least the exercise will help me burn off the bad stuff I ate. My goal is to be down at least another pound tomorrow when I weigh in for the contest. I know I can do it! Today I'm drinking a bunch of water and eating well... the two workouts today and eating right tomorrow should help tremendously!

Hope you are all doing well and feeling great!! I really need to sit down and go through my fitday and see what foods I was logging the most of when I was so successful at SB the first time. My biggest problem right now is what to eat when I really am craving cookies or something sweet. I think I used to buy Aunt Gussies Biscotti made with spelt flour and agave. Not sure exactly, though...

What do you all use to get you through your "I really want to stay legal but I'm dying for some cookies!" moments? I don't like any other type of sweets much, but I love cookies!!!

Here's to the start of a GREAT OP WEEK for us all!!! Hugs to everyone! :)

Hi ladies, didn't have time to get on over the weekend. Don't know what we did other than clean, grocery shop and yesterday afternoon went to my DD's to help her clean out the laundry room. We ate kale and eggs (the 3 girls) and the guys got fried chicken. It really didn't bother me at all.

We got 1/2" of snow this morning. My youngest DD came home to change my bandages and fell on the drive so I am not taking the dog out he will have to wait for my DH to get home. The groomer is coming today to cut his hair. Boy does he need it.Diet is going good. Have not cheated at all. Don't plan too. My DD wants to me stay on the first 17 days until she is ready to move to the 2nd set. You get so many foods back on the 2nd phase that she thinks it will bother her. If I don't lose enough wt, I may do it. I was actually up 2 lbs today but I am not worrying about it. We made a low carb pizza the other day just with cheese and veggies and it was a lot of cheese and I didn't have the NF cheese so that may have done it. We will see.I did not walk all weekend either so I need to get on there today. Maybe after that groomer leaves. I need to make some chicken veggie soups for lunch. It really helps.

Have a great day. See you tomorrow.

Crystal, good for you losing those 2 lbs. I am so proud of you. You will be maintaining so soon.

Toni, yes I did get an email when they shipped it. It seems like it only took 3 days to order and get it. I really haven't missed the wine. Well I have but have been able to do it. I amnot a big yogurt eater either but I eat Greek Yogurt and add my berries. I do eat eggs but not my favorite. I like the Truvia much better than Splenda, doesn't seem to have that aftertaste.

Ellen, glad you are enjoying your Wii, but take care of yourself. Got to beat that bronchitis before it takes hold. I just saw on Dr Oz that exercing when you are cold burns many more calories that regular temps so maybe that cold water aerobics did some good.

Beth, good for you not letting that bagel mess up your whole day. I would say what the heck and eat bad the rest of the dat. That is the way to start, mess up and fix it. I justsaw on tv that if you eat the wrong things you should do squats for 60 to 120 seconds and it opens up muscles to absorb the fat in lieu of storing it. You are doing great with the exercise too. Keep it up. Try some SF gum or jello with whipped cream to get rid of that cookie craving.

Good afternoon ya'll. It is so cold and damp today. Tried a new video today. Not sure that I really like it but will give it another shot. It is Leslie's bootcamp video. It didn't seem hard enough. Ate a few extras this weekend because I lost another pound. Told hubby you are not suppose to reward yourself with food but I couldn't help myself. Nothing too big. Just some saltines and some ham.

Might try a bit of hubby's new kettle bell workout. It looks a little fast for me but I can always modify. Some would be better than none right? :)

Beth...WTG with your workouts! You will see so many positives changes along with the weight.

Solly...So glad you are staying off the ice. I hope your daughter didn't get hurt.

Evening! I had a lazy day. Still feeling puny. I had chicken soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ran to the Asian market and got chicken legs for 69 cents a pound in a ten pound bag...brought them home and made two pressure cookers of stock. I put it into 2 qt containers to freeze and got six of them. That is $12 worth of the boxed chicken stock and mine is better! :) I also got two big containers of meat and stock to use in casseroles or something.

My bronchitis seems to have been headed off well....but I am still congested. Last night I could not breathe through my nose, so I did not use my cpap machine...first time in almost a year! I slept ok..only woke up once. Guess the weight I have lost helped some.. I did snore tho..and poor Tom eventually gave up and went and slept in the guest room. I took a Mucinex already in hopes it will clear me out enough to use the machine tonight.

Since I have been ill I have not exercised at all. My Wii fit is just sitting there, mocking me. I hope I feel well enough to use it again maybe tomorrow. Right now, I just feel drained. I have almost no appetite, so I hope it translates into something positive on the scale...all I have had today is chicken broth, and a little bit of chicken stir fried with bamboo shoots, mushrooms and tree ears. (basically moo shu chicken without the wrapper...)

Hope everyone is doing well. Solly, be careful on that snow and ice if you go out!

Hi ladies, cleaned out my jewelry box today (standing box) and some other small items. Waiting on my RA doc to call me, My right hand has started drawing up again. Right now my wrist only hurts and hands. I can use my fingers but it hurts. Just trying to get ahead of it so it doesn't draw up tottaly.

Ellen sure hope you are feeling better soon. Is your Cpap machine a full mask (nose and mouth) or just nose? I do't think I could eat chicken soup for3 meals. Feel better.

Crystal, I have neer used kettle balls but I think they would be a great workout. They use them on BL all the time. I don't think ham and saltines will make you gain wt.

Toni, has your book come yet?

Mercee, hope you are doing good.

Beth, hope you are having a good day and exercising.

Off to lool for a recipe and maybe use the :tread: if the dr doesn't want to see me. Have a reat day.

Good morning. Just having my coffee and getting ready to cook breakfast. Not much going on here.

Solly- I'm so sorry about your hand. Its good you've called the doctor. UPS has my book right now. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow and then I hope I can go shopping and get the last of what I need Sat. Like the yogurt and fruits and veggies. Any tips?

Ellen-Be sure to get rested good and not try anything to fast. Hope you're feeling better today and had a good nights sleep.

Crystle- Wow a lb. is great. You're just sailing along. Hope I can get into exercising soon. How much left to go?

Beth- How are you doing today? Good going getting to the gym.

Mercee- How are you?

Well time to get moving.

Good morning! I had an appointment with my Applied Kinseologist Chiropractor this morning. I love going ...I always feel so together and relaxed when I leave! :) This morning she had brought her Chesapeake Bay Retriever with her. Sweet dog...he LOVED the smell of my feet. (I think it was because I have cats)

Its raining here, I was supposed to go have coffee with a friend but we rescheduled. She over slept and I just felt like I needed to chill after the trip to my appt. and back..its a long way and traffic was awful.

I have switched to green tea from chicken soup. We will see how that goes. ;)

SOLLY: I hope you can get things figured out with your hand. You are so industrious! My house is a wreck, but I just can't bring myself to do anything right now. I use a full face mask. I started with a Zest, which is just a nasal. I could not keep my mouth closed though. So now I use a Mirage Quartro. I love it. I don't have to worry about chin straps or anything like that. Its very comfortable as well. I have not had too much trouble with leakage either.

TONI: Good advice! I think I will just chill and read or play a non physical game on my Wii this afternoon. I need to make Tom some oat bran muffins, but that is relatively light work.

COUNTRY: Your breakfast looks mighty tasty over on FB. :) I think I will go throw together the items I need for Thai basil rolls and make some for my afternoon snack!

Good Tuesday Morning folks! :)

I hit the gym yesterday and made my hour long DanceTrance class last night. When I got home my DH had grilled some chicken breast and I had that with salad. I brought a small leftover piece of chicken with a half a bag of salad and about 3Tbs of dressing for my lunch today and it was good. I love grilled food... especially veggies! We grill all year long at my house, I have a covered patio out back and it's nothing to just step out there to turn the food once in a while! Yummo! :D

I weigh in tonight for my DT contest I'm doing... I got on their scale yesterday and saw no difference from last Tuesday, but I guess it's better than being UP! Who knows what it will show today... I'm drinking my water like I should so maybe it will be down. I'm staying focused on the long haul though, one plateau or up week does not mean I'm not doing well... it means my body is adjusting, rearranging and will drop soon! Or that's what I'm telling myself, anyway!

ELLEN - I'm glad you're feeling better! I love chicken soup, but I never can make it that it doesn't taste just bland. If you have a good legal recipe I'd love to have it! As long as it's idiot proof, that is... because I am NOT a cooker!

TONI - I'm doing great and thank you for your kind words!!! I hope you're having a great day too!!! :)

SOLLY - I hope your hands feel better soon, that has to be awful especially during the cold weather months! I'll keep you in my thoughts! I'm planning to get my exercise in today!

CRYSTLE - I already feel better just with the exercise as well as the better food choices. I haven't seen enough difference in my clothes yet, I'm still squeeeeeezing into these darn pants but I know if I do the right things, it will happen eventually. I just have to keep motivated until I see those changes, then that will motivate me even more!

They're predicting SNOW for the FOURTH TIME in my little North Alabama county this year to happen tonight. This is ridiculous... we live in ALABAMA... a measly inch of snow makes us all snowbound because of our inability to deal with it correctly. It isn't cost effective for our area to invest in major equipment to deal with it because it RARELY happens but this is our 4th time this year of having over an inch predicted. CRAZY! Once is pretty... twice is like "wow, it happened twice!"... the third time was an annoyance and if it's a fourth time, I'm packing up and moving south! HA! I wish! If I can't safely get out of the house and go to class, I will do the Dance Party game that my kids have for the Xbox because it will make you SWEAT for sure! I won't just do nothing, even if it's a few sit ups and leg lifts or squats!

Hope everyone has a great day!! Stay warm and safe!!

Hi ladies:

Sorry I have been away. I left work Thursday and went to the doctor. I have bronchitis and today is my first day out and back to work. I will read the post and catch up later.

Ellen
01-25-2011, 08:21 PM
MERCEE: I am sorry! I think you must have gotten the bronchitis from me. I did cough into the computer a couple times. I promise to do better next time I am sick and keep my germs contained! ;) Seriously, I am glad you are feeling better. Mine is lingering, but I am better I think.

BETH: Let me ponder that recipe and then I will write it down and send it to you. Soup is easy. It is essential though, that you use bones and skin on the chicken for good flavor.

Ok, off to waste the evening time until bed.

I weighed in for the contest and I'm down another pound! :carrot:

I was kind of disappointed at first, but I decided to be glad I was DOWN instead of UP or stationary! I did eat some fried and salty foods so I can't be too disappointed!

Other than that... nothing to report, just wanted to come along and update my ticker :)

The one thing that kind of ticks me off...(no pun intended! ha!)... I was only ONE POUND away from getting into the next "set" of numbers. I'm exactly 230 on the nose... at least a tenth of a pound and I'd have been in the 220's instead! HA!!! Oh well, maybe by next week I'll be WELL into them instead of barely into them! :)

Good Night Everyone!!! :grouphug:

Morning ladies:

My weight stayed the same. I don't mind because I have been sick and unable to workout and yesterday was my birthday and my hubby and I went out to dinner. I am excited to be at my lowest weight in 10 years still.

I am thinking of buying myself a bodybug for my b0day guft since I have cash for it. Do any of you have any suggestions? They wear them on the Biggest Loser?

Toni- I hope you are feling better. I am at about 80% now. Tonight I will return to the gym. Please stop sneezing in the computer. LOL

Beth- Congrats on your lose you go girl!!! I'm sure you will meet your goal next week.

Howdy; Solly, Crystle and Ellen.

I have to get back to work. You know how it is when you have been way a few days. Talk to ladies later.

Good morning! I am sad to report I am up four pounds. I am pretty sure this is due to not being able to exercise and the increase in one of my diabetic meds...the one that makes it hard to lose weight. sigh. It does help my blood sugar numbers, but it seems to be a catch 22.

MERCEE: That was me sneezing on the computer.... Happy Birthday! :balloons: I don't know what a bodybug is. Do I need one? :)

BETH: Yay on the pound! Its progress!

Ok, off to figure out my day.

Ellen- A bodybug keps track of all you eat and your exercise as well. It's the band they wear on Buggest loser? I have been curious abou them for awhile. Since I had some b-day cash I am thinking about buying one. I am sure your weight is just up because of the meds. I hope you see a lose next week.

Today is day two of eating breakfast and posting a picture. I'm hoping if I post a picture daily on facebook I'll get in the habit of eating breakfast. I'm not holding my breath because I am not a breakfast person. But so far so good. Now ya'll will be able to see how crazy my eating habits can be. :)

Mercee...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! Awesome staying the same. So glad you are feeling better.

Ellen...hang in there. It might just be water weight from the new meds. Plus as you know as woman we don't need a reason to have water weight. :) How did your basil Thai rolls turn out? Are they like egg rolls? I love egg rolls.

Solly....The kettlebells are actually really neat. The short routine that came with the weight kicks your tootie in a good way. Your heart is beating so fast and you are also using your muscles. My husband seems to like it a lot. If he sticks with it there is a program called kettleworxs that I will get for him. My 17 year old son also tried it and is whining about being sore today..LOL I am so sorry to hear about your hand. Hope they can fix it before it becomes permanent or more severe. Are you enjoying being back on the treadmill? You are getting a lot done at home. I need to learn some good habits from you. I'm kinda being lazy right now. I did hang the clothes yesterday and it was cold outside.

Toni... I am just two away. After I reach that goal I may lower my goal weight by five. I really think I can do that and be healthy. I don't want to lower the goal until I reach goal though because I want to feel that success of actually getting there if that makes sense. :) How are you doing? Is it still really cold where you are? The sun is finally shining here. It sure makes a difference in your mood. Spring is SO close. I can hardly wait.

Beth...WOO HOO a pound gone is four sticks of butter outta there! Any loss is great. You may also be building muscles at the same time. My weight loss has been slower this time but my body has a much different composition this time around. First time 80 pounds lost in about six months and so were most of my muscles. This time around 40 pounds in five months and a size smaller at the same weight because of muscle tone. Keep up the good work and I think you will be super surprised with the results. You CAN do this!!!

((Everybody)) Remember you are the best you there is and you are more than your weight. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are AWESOME wives, mothers, sisters and friends. Each of you is a blessing and a joy.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Got my 17 day diet book today so will probably start Monday. That will give me time to prepare. Hopefully tomorrow we're going grocery shopping. I have a jewlery party to go to Sat. Thank goodness our weather is staying in the 40's. Friday is supposed to be 49. Wow like summer.

Crystle- Wow only two lbs. away. I can't even imagine. I love the pictures of your breakfast. I'm going to try and get up earlier and have breakfast instead of so late.

Ellen- I hope you get back to your exerciseing and such soon. Next week will be better. How are you feeling?

Mercee- The body bug sounds so good. I've wondered about them. Feel better soon.

Beth- Congrats on the loss this week. You're doing good.....

Hey, on those Kettle balls/weights...there is a routine for Kettle balls in either Reader's Digest or Prevention...I thought I remembered and as I started writing this, I realized I was not clear on which one. What a great help I am! haha! I will check and post the correct magazine. It looked interesting. And the mag swore it would help you drop inches and weight fast.... but then, they always do! ;)

Ellen
01-27-2011, 10:09 AM
Ok, I went and checked on the kettle ball routine. Its in the September issue of Prevention. My guess is that they probably have it online if you are interested in looking at it. In the magazine, it was a pull out section with the routine on it. Maybe I will look into kettle balls...I like having lots of options.

I am feeling a bit better today...not quite as congested. I feel crabby though. So watch out!

My goal today is to clean something. I don't care what, just something. I am thinking it may need to be the kitchen table that has become a catch all for everything you walk into the house with. I will probably feel less crabby if I can reduce the clutter around here. We are both pack rats...not good!

I was very disappointed to wake up this morning with high blood sugar again. The new additional med worked three days. ARgh!

Its sunny today, and not raining, but cold. I have never been more ready for spring!

Ok, guess I ought to quit whining and get off here and DO something!

Good morning ladies. We got 3" of snow yesterdayso school was out AGAIN so I went to my DD's and she kept the baby home so we played all day. We are keeping him tomorrow as their sitter has appts all day. i will enjoy that. The radio said we have had 27 days of some type of snow since Christmas. UNBELIEVABLE. I am so ready for 90 degree weather.

The dr sent me a medrodose pack for my had and after taking one day (6 pills) it was better. I took yesterdays pills and it is all better so I think I will keep the rest in case if happen again soon or next month. I have an appt with her in Feb anyway,

I am happy to report I am down 4 lbs today. Yesterday I was the same and I weighed today and it was 4 lbs. That makes a total of 19. I am happy with that and it has not been bad at all. I have to cook 7 days a week but that is better for us anyway. I actuallyt get to start phase 2 tomorrow and I get beans and some rice back. I love beans.

Toni, glad you got your book. I only read to the phase 1 b/c it was confusing to go further and I still use the book 10 times a day. My DD read quickly the whole 4 phases and I can't wait to keep going to get everything back. The taco salad is wonderful. We have it all the time. I never thought I could eat ground turkey but the taco salad was good and I also made a meatloaf with it and my family love it. I have a hard time getting my snacks in, but once I go back to work and I start earlier it wil be easier. Email me if you have any questions.

Ellen, I am glad you are better even if you are crabby. Maybe getting some cleared out will make you feel better.

Mercee, sorry to hear you have bonchitis. It is really going around right now. Take care of yourself. I would love to have a body bug. I looked into them when I got hooked on the BL but they are expensive. Many of the big corporations here offer pedometers for wt loss and some even offer money for it. I believe the school system offers them. Let me know if you get one and how you likek it.

Beth, One pound it one pound less, you are doing this. Keep up the good work and try to cut down on your cheating as much as you can. You are worth it.

Country, WOW 2 lbs away is so awesome. You will do it and if you decide to go 5 more you can do that to. I feel so much better now that I am back on track. Breakfast is an important thing for your health. Some fitness guy on Dr Oz last week said you should eat some type of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. I would suggest a smoothie with yogurt or whey protein powder if you are not a big breakfast eater.

Got to run, I need to start cleaning my house (at least what I can do) as my DH wants to clean tonight instead of Sat. He will be here soon for lunch and I am still in my pj's.

Don't know if I will talk to you tomorrow since we wil be out at my DD's but I will get on sometime over the weekend. Toni, if you don't have my email, get me on FB or I can send it to you.

Have a great day and make it a OP one. I am trying to get on the :tread: today too.

Greetings, Buster buddies!

I decided to skip water aerobics this morning. I was thinking of going until a friend of mine mentioned on facebook that she had a terrible time with relapses with this upper respiratory junk. I decided to wait until Monday. Tonight, my grandson is coming to stay over night. I have not seen him in like three weeks. I can't wait! He was supposed to come last weekend, but I was sick. I heard that he pitched a fit and cried all the way home when he found out he was not coming here after school. Does a grandmother's heart good to hear that. ;)

My blood sugar levels were a bit better this morning, so I am feeling hopeful. Still up on the scale, but hopefully once I am back to full steam ahead, the exercise will help with that. And if the weather starts to warm up a bit...like today is supposed to be in the 50's....I can bump up the exercise and hopefully see more results.

Now to dodge the strep bullet...lots of the kids at church have it. One family had it on Monday and Tuesday, came to the Wednesday night meeting, then on Thursday, two more of their kids got it. Now the parents are getting it....Ug!

I just finished breakfast...a gluten free English muffin with cinnamon on one half and pb&j on the other....and espresso of course! :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just a quickie drive-by posting to let you all know I haven't fallen off the wagon! I've been super busy at work and just don't have enough time to keep up with everything so I've been on Facebook most of the time and not posting here!

I weighed last night at DanceTrance and it showed 229.8.... HA! I'm under that 230 mark but I know it will fluctuate back over before it stays under for good. I have until Tuesday to get a solid pound under it! ;)

I've been going every day to DT and really putting 100% effort into it! I know I must be building some muscle tone but seriously I'm down almost 10 pounds and my jeans are still snug... I'm ready to see at least a tiny difference in how my clothes are fitting me, I need some extra motivation!

I don't have class tonight because they do it early on Fridays and I can't make it. I will be going in the morning for the 8:15 AND the 9am classes, though because I have a Girls Night IN planned with some girlfriends and I know there will be wine consumption and I know that I will probably eat some "not perfectly legal" food. I will NOT go overboard. I am allowing myself some small things... I will make rational food decisions and on Sunday I will drink my body weight in water and go to both dance classes as well! I know that I can allow myself some "down" time and still stay ON TRACK!

Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend!!!

Hello everyone. We went out of town yesterday and were gone most the day. When I got I was so tired. Sure was glad we'd gotten a deli chicken for dinner. I got all my stuff to start my 17 DD with. Hope I can eat greek yogurt. And that I like truvia sweeter. But I can use agave and I like it. Anyway I slept in this morning so half my day is gone. Its beautiful out today. We're supposed to get to 50 I think.

Solly- Oh my gosh I'm so excited you're doing so good. Wow 4 lbs. is great. I can't wait to get started. I tried to email you, did you get it. It may be an old email address. Woo Hoo for phase 2. I'm glad your meds fixed you so fast.

Ellen- Have a blast with the Grandson. Oh my gosh I hope you don't get strep. Hope you get 100% soon.

Beth- Have fun at your party. Sounds like you have it all planned out.

I just spent about 30 minutes outside pushing Bruce Wayne aka Batman aka my grandson in the tree swing. He is loving being outside. Now he is helping his grandpa weed in the garden. Speaking of the garden, there is broccoli forming on the plants! Yeah! I was worried that it would not survive the cold and snow, but it seems to be doing great!

Not sure what all we will do today, but its been fun having the little guy around. He is such a sweet kid. Very polite. And totally addicted to Batman. hehe.... He calls his grandpa Spider Man the Job. I am occasionally Super Grammie. Works for me...

So I'll have to get up and get busy soon. Trying to figure out what to take out of the freezer for dinner tonight.

Ellen- Sounds like you're having a wonderful time with that Grandson. They grow up so fast. Hope you're feeling better.

Howdy ya'll. Hope you are having a super weekend. We went to Sam's yesterday so I'm loaded up on fresh fruit and veggies. It broke my heart to spend the money but I just kept saying healthy food was worth it. Especially the peppers. Six bucks for six colored peppers, ouch, but I have been craving them lately. :) Had some of the blackberries for breakfast. So delicious.

Toni..we are getting the cold weather mid week. I am not looking forward to that at all. Did you find some jewelry at the party?

Hi ladies, It's sunday night and we just finished dinner. We were grilling fish and we ran out of gas. I hate that. So I put it in the oven. We had aspargus and broccoli with it and some portabella mushrooms with balsamic and ff moz cheese. I am full.

Toni, I did not get your email. I have had the same one since I came on here. I tried to send it to you via message, but I could not get it to worki right. Messsage me on here if you want to check it.

Ellen, thos grandkids are so much fun aren't they. Mine was here for about 5 hours today and we played trucks alot.

Crystal, we went to Sams this afternoon too. I didn't see you there. ha-ha It was so nice here yesterday for about 10 degrees colder today.

Beth, hope you enjoyed your girls night in. I miss my wine, but will get it back in about 15 days. Hang in there. I have not seen much change in my clothes either and I have lost 19 lbs. Of course I am wearing a back brace and I can get my pants on so maybe that is something.

Got to go get under a blanket or by the fire. I have been cold all day. Talk to you tomorrow.

Well I've got my things ready to start my new diet tomorrow. So tonight I spluged and had a baked potato and some wine. I've not had a potato in so long. Steve is sick with a cold and has been hacking all day. He's such a poor sickie. We've got bad weather heading our way so I think I'll go get him an extra milk at the store while I can. Glad we stocked up on food Thursday.

Crystle- It costs so much at the grocery store I almost fainted. Hopefully we can get nearly a month out of it. Tomorrow I'll have to get out of this chair and walk on the treadmill and get busier.

Solly- Your dinner sounds so good. I've got chicken cut up to start the chicken vegetable soup in the book. So will make a pot of it tomorrow. Also boiled some eggs. Hope I do good like you have.

Well going to kick back here and watch AX men with the hubby.

Good morning ladies. Boy our weather has changed. I took the dog out and that wind went right through my coat. We are expecting snow on Wed. I sure hope it passes.

Not doing much today, paying bills etc.

Toni, I think this diet is expensive especially the yogurt and stuff. My biggest problem is lunch. The soup is a big help. I make one pot a week. I use canned chicken in mine. Another tip, I got a water bottle with measurements on it (24 oz) and that way I know how many I have drank or what I need to drink. I like lemon in mine so I use the rest of my moring lemon in mine.

Guess everyone else is busy this morning. Try to check back later. Need to walk on the :tread: today for sure. Have a great one.

I had a great wwekend and now we are expected to get 24 inches of snow yea me. LOL

Toni- Wishing you the best on your new program. I have to get stocked up tonight for the storm.

Solly- You are doing a great job. I'm happy you found a program that works for you.

Crystle- Today is my day to get stocked up I am out of fruits and veggies now. Glad you had a great weekend.

Ellen- Seems like you had a great time with your grandchildren.

Well tonight I go back to the gym. I missed a week and 2 days since I had bronchitis. I still have a little congestion but I should be fine. Have a great day ladies. I will check in tommorrow.

Howdy ho.... Started on my new diet this morning. Had my hot lemon juice, then 2 hardboiled eggs, and orange and green tea for breakfast. I will have a yogurt soon. I've got a pot of soup cooking for lunch times this week but for today I'm having fish. Then chicken breast tonight.

Solly-I agree this way of eating is a little expensive. All the yogurt and veggies. Its hard to come by here. We're expecting the snow tomorrow and rain today later on. So we'll be stuck in here especially if we get ice. I missed you on facebook this morning, I was making the soup.

Mercee- They're predicting big snow and ice for here. I hope you're feeling better everyday.

Off to have my yogurt.

Howdy ya'll. It has been a really nice day today. It is about 70. What is crazy is that there is a chance of snow on Friday. It doesn't snow here. :) Tomorrow the front is blowing through and chilling things WAY down.

I made a turkey meatloaf for dinner with spinach and a side of lightened up mashed potatoes.

Toni...eight minutes is great. It will get easier and easier over time. I can't wait to see what you think of this diet.

Solly...you are losing weight fast. That is awesome. It sounds like the diet gives you plenty to eat.

Mercee...hope you do well at the gym and continue to feel better.

Mercee, take it easy until you are sure you can do it at the gym. Don't want to relapse. I heard how much snow you all were supposed to get, I can't believe it.

Crystle, 70 degrees! what I wouldn't do for that. It is so cold and windy here. They are predicting we will only get rain but if it dips justs a little the ice will be there. I hate this.

Haven't walked on the treadmill yet today but don't want to bother Steve and the room where the treadmill is, is right next to where he's sleeping.

Good afternoon ladies, just got back from luch and some dollar store shopping with my friend. I needed to get some cards and valentines. I always buy other things too in that store. I had a spinach salad for lunch with balsmic dressing.

Toni, I am waiting on my daughter to get off the :tread: and then I am getting on it. My back hurt some so I may not do so much. We are having fish for dinner. I hope you do not get that ice and snow. It is sprinkeling here.

Mercee, Beth, Ellen, Crystal, Hope you are having a great day.

Well the 70's went bye bye fast. The front blew through about 6 a.m. and it has been in the 30's all day. It is now 26 and expected to get in the teens...burr.

Did a walking video and a ten minute beginner kickboxing video (really easy one). Eating was okay.

Solly...way to get those walks on the treadmill! You are going to have this weight back off before you know it.

Toni...praying you are not getting snowed and iced in. You too are gonna have this weight off before you know it.

Ellen...Did you make that tortilla soup? Are ya'll gonna get snow again?

Beth...hope you are having a super week so far. I see you had a good workout the other night again..WTG!

Mercee...Hope you are feeling better every day.

Morning! I am freezing! The furnace is broken. Tom was trying to test something while talking to Erik on the phone and a transformer blew. It won't come on with out that transformer. The temps in here this morning are 58. I sure hope it doesn't get cold today, or tomorrow is going to be awful! Erik is going to get the part and fix it Thursday. He has school, work and they live 45 minutes away, so that is the earliest he can do it.

I am about to suit up and head to water aerobics. I have not been since I got sick. I sure hope the pool heater has been fixed. I want to get into something warm today...especially today. I am eager to get back to exercising. I feel like a slug! And I admit I had the Wii Fit and have not used it as I should. I wanted to get back to water aerobics first.

I forgot to weigh this morning. I am not upset by that. Until I get back to exercising, the meds are only going to make me gain and I find it very disheartening.

I will check in later!

Good Morning Everyone! I know I haven't been posting much - I know ELLEN and CRYSTLE are keeping tabs on me and helping keep me accountable on Facebook! I'm very grateful for them! :)

I have been doing great! I weighed in Monday and I was down FIVE pounds from last Tuesday's weigh in! :carrot:

I've been eating well with very few cheats, although there have been a couple of SMALL ONES! but I do not let them derail me from the big picture which is very different from my old habits! I'm also keeping up with my exercise really well. I even took an extra exercise class Monday night! I think it helps that I actually LOVE this class I'm going to so it's not boring and I don't have to force myself to go - it makes a HUGE difference in my commitment level to it! I really do feel better when I work out... but I'm still not over the point where I try to think of excuses before I finally make myself go some days...LOL!

SOLLY - It's so frustrating to feel like we are doing really well and seeing the numbers go down but yet still wearing the same pants, isn't it? Or at least it is for me! Someone told me that 20 pounds is roughly a pants size depending on the person so I'm expecting to be back down a size in another 7 pounds! LOL!! Keep up the great work!

TONI - You're doing great on that treadmill... keep on going!!!

I have to get some work done! My coworker had a death in the family and that leaves me trying to get two jobs done in one shift today... busy, busy, busy! I hope everyone has a fabulous Groundhog Day! :D

Good morning ladies, I did weight today and I was up 3 lbs. I feel like that team on the BL. Don't know why I was up but I have not weighed since last Wed. Could be anything. I'm letting it bother me since I have not cheated at all and some posts say they gain at first when adding grains back.

Toni, I will answer your posts as soon as I finish here.

Crystal, I think everyone is getting cold and snow. It is 45 mph winds here and it is blowing snow but no accumalation. Try to stay warm

Ellen, I can't believe your furnace is broken. Wrap up. We keep our house on 65 so I know you are cold. I hope the water is warm for you today,

Beth, You are doing great. Congrats on the 5 lbs.

We are having pork chops tonight. Second time for meat. Have a great day, will probably check in later tonight.

Good late morning. Got up early then dozed off in the chair. Just had 2 softboiled eggs, orange and a cup of green tea. Thawing out ground turkey to make a simple taco salad for dinner tonight. Its so cold here, blowing snow and only 15 degrees.

Solly- Maybe its the change in the food. I'll bet you have a good loss next week. Don't let it set you back, you're doing great.

Beth- Congrats on the 5 lb. weight loss. Thats a big one.

Ellen- Oh no thats awful about your heater. Hope you stay warm. Hope the pool is warm.

Crystle- You stay warm here. We got ice and snow and its miserable here.

Way to cold in here to think about weighing. I think I am about the same guessing from what I weighed last night. We turned the water off last night so I am praying when it gets above freezing we will have water. My mother in law's pipes froze before 8 last night.

Most of the animals survived the cold but we did lose our black bunny.

Solly...I am with you. Grains tend to put water weight on me. You'll have those three pounds off once your body gets used to the added grains.

Toni...Hope you are staying warm also. I am so ready for spring.

Ellen...so sorry your heater is broken. So glad it was warm at the pool.

Beth..woo hoo on the five pounds and the extra workout. You got this.

Mercee....hope you are doing well.

Back from the pool. It was warm, and the workout was great. I feel SO much better having gotten my workout in.

I came home to about 56 degrees. I brought my little space heater up from the garagio and turned it on full blast. The cats are afraid of it, but I am hoping it will help heat up the kitchen area. The oven is on, and I will light a fire in the fireplace in a few and read - wrapped in a blanket probably!

Tonight is potluck and I am planning on making pizza. I need to work on the crusts soon. I got the cheese and stuff at Trader Joe's on my way home from water aerobics.

COUNTRY: I am sorry you lost a bunny due to the cold. That is sad. I thought the forecast for here was 50's for the next few days, but they revised it, and now its MUCH colder! It is going to be in the 20's tonight which is not going to be fun with no heat! I hope the pipes are ok. I don't know about you, but I am SOO ready for spring!

Solly
02-02-2011, 02:38 PM
Toni, don't know what caused the rise but I am not worrying about it.

Ellen, sounds like cuddle weather to me. Stay warm

Crystle, so sorry about your bunny. Black ones are so pretty too. Hope your pipes make it.

Off to walk on the :tread: My leg bothered me all night so I will see how it does. Just came down to do my spread sheet for my taxes, Got to get that going, been gathering it all day.

Walked on my treadmill 9 min. Then had a lunch of chicken veggie soup, red grapes and green tea.

Solly- don't over do with that leg. I need to get on line and pay our bills. I hate that job.

Ellen-So good you had a good work out today. Sounds like you're keeping warm.

Crystle- Sorry about your bunny. I'm worrying about our outside cat tonight its supposed to get below 0. I'm with you come on spring......

He also finally got the hot water defrosted about ten minutes ago so we can have bathes before everything freezes up again. :dizzy:
Hope ya'll are staying warm.

Ellen...sending extra warm thoughts your way.

Toni...I understand you worrying about your kitty. Our dogs and cats are not used to winters quit this cold.

Morning! It was 48 inside the house this morning. Its up to 51 with the fireplace going, and the oven cranked up to 400 and the door cracked, and my little space heater going at my feet. Thankfully, tonight it should be fixed.

I slept very poorly...not sure why but I woke up every hour or two. Maybe it was the cold or something, though I was plenty warm under the covers. My morning blood sugar was astronomical too...probably cause I forgot to take my meds to the potluck at church last night. I took them when I got home but they are much more effective if you take them BEFORE you eat. sigh.

So I am sitting here in long johns, my nightgown and my jacket. Its really not too bad. I should not complain as it seems Crystle has it much worse then me. And Toni, too, worrying about her outdoor cat. Toni, can't you let it inside until it is warmer out? Poor thing...my cats are not happy with how cold it is INSIDE. Spoiled brat cats....

I have circle meeting at church this morning, so I am off to get ready! Will check in later!

Good morning ladies. It is still cold here but not as windy as yesterday. I didn't leave the house. I had 2 scrambled eggs and some fresh strawberries with green tea for breakfast. Don't know what to do for lunch or dinner. I guess some type of chicken for dinner. Lunches are hard for me. Should have made some soup. Today is my oldest daughter's birthday. I can't believe she is 31. Where has the time gone?

Toni, good job on the treadmill. I finally walked 20 minutes yesterday. Will increase everyday if I can. How did you like the soup?

Ellen, be careful with the stove open. Hope you get your heat fixed tonight and you sleep much better. I am not tired at night since I don't domuch during the day.

Crystal, my dog doesn't like to go out in the cold. He runs out and right back. He won't let us put his sweater on either. I hate that your pipes are bursting. Do you keep you cabinet doors open. DH says that helps.

May be back later. Time for a shower and to accomplish one thing. May clean out my closet upstairs. Have a great day.

Good morning. It was like 5 degrees when I got up. Thank goodness none of our pipes froze. Just had an orange, 2 boiled eggs and some green tea for breakfast. Watching the birds out on the feeder. The sun is out and it looks so nice. To bad theres a big layer of ice out there.

Solly- You did good on the treadmill. Happy Birthday to your daughter. Hope she has a great day. The soup is a lifesaver. Hope I don't get tired of it.

Ellen- The cat did okay last night and was ready for some warm food in her tummy this morning. Hope you get your heater fixed this evening. Wish we would have kept our wood stove.

Crystle- I hope you aren't froze up today. I jumped in the shower last night just in case we didn't have water today. I'd better do the laundry today.

Well off to cuddle with my dog.

Heloo ladies:

We got blasted with snow and had to shovel snow that was 20 inches deep from out driveway and walkways. My hubby and sons and I we had a great time together doing it and it only took us 2 hours. I counted that as my workout yesterday. We are all home again today our schools and my job and hubby's are closed Yipee!! It is 10 below zero here. I have no plans to venture outside at all. We all go back tomorrow.

Ellen- I sure hope you get your furnace fixed today and you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Solly- Great workout and Happy Birthday to your daughter.

Toni- Glad to see you are using your treamill again. We will all get to ur goes if we just keep going.

Crystle- Sorry you are having pipe problems. I sure hope things are getting better for you today.

I hope everyone stays warm and safe during this weather. Have a great day everyone.

Ladies, please be in prayer for Beth and her family. Not sure exactly what is going on, but if I understand correctly, one of her sons found his brother hanging from his bed and got him down and gave him CPR and saved his life. He is in the pediatric ICU right now. She is asking for prayer for the family and for Drew.

Thanks.

Erik fixed the heater tonight. It just needed a 60 cent fuse! Hooray! It feels nice and toasty in here now. I have my granddaughter tonight and tomorrow. She is sleeping. I am hoping she sleeps until her usual 8:30. She is a 'high maintenance' child! :) In other words, you have to be with her constantly. She doesn't play by herself around here.

So, I am heading to bed, and looking forward to not having to wear long underwear under my nightie! tee hee!

Good afternoon ladies. I have been cleaniing all day. I takes me a long time. I rested during my soap and then swiffered the floors. Normally my Dh does that so now all he has to do is vacuum and clean the shower the tub.

I justed walked on the treadmill for 22 minutes. I did not get to do it yesterday. I was cleaning out my clothes that I keep upstairs and I got so sick. I had to lay down and I didn't do anything but dinner after that.

Sending so many prayers for Beth and her sons. Prayers bring miracles. I know they will get one.

Toni, I am not a big chicken fan so the soup is not my favorite thing. I did make a pot of bean soup out of canned beans and carrots today. It was my lunch and was so good. I am on cycle 2 so I can have beans before2:00.

Ellen, glad you have heat. Have fun your your granddaughter. I have my grandson tomorrow evening all night.

Morning! I had a good time with my granddaughter yesterday. She likes you to be with her constantly. I mentioned to my daughter she was high maintenance, and I think she was insulted! :) I sure was tired by the time she went down for a nap, as she got up before 7, and did not go down for a nap until 2. Today I need to go get her birthday presents. My daughter said clothes...but I will have to sneak in a toy too. She loves stuffed animals and they gave her a little dog she carries around constantly. Maybe she needs a kitty to go with it....

We had a coupon to Ruby Tuesdays so we went out last night. I got a petite sirloin and a lobster tail. They served it with steamed broccoli and a baked potato. I should have asked for two portions of broccoli, but I thoroughly enjoyed that potato. My morning bg was bad this morning...I am thinking the extra meds are doing nothing for me but making me gain weight. Why doesn't anything 'work' for me? Its so frustrating.

I have been trying to keep up with Beth's status updates on FB. Seems there is not much change, but Drew did respond to a verbal command yesterday which is good. Today, she is dealing with a not so nice doctor. I am praying and praying God will miraculously heal Drew.

SOLLY: You are so inspiring. You clean your house even when you don't feel good. Me? I find every excuse not to clean. Shame on me.

TONI: Glad your internet is back up! I always feel so isolated when the internet is down!

COUNTRY: I hope your ice has melted. Has it warmed up any? Its colder here, but not too bitter.

MERCEE: I hope you are ok! I saw some posts on Facebook from Chicago relatives and friends....wow! Some areas got 25 inches! Were you in the area for the blizzard of '67? I sure remember that one!

Wow we got another 5 or 6 inches of snow last night. At least the plow has come down today and plowed our road so we can probably get out. I'm so glad to have phone and internet today. I was sure lost without it. Doing some laundry now. Eating is good. I had a couple hard boiled eggs and an orange and a cup of green tea for breakfast and just had a yogurt now. I know I'm boring but it was easy.

Ellen- Sounds like you had fun with the Granddaughter. Yum your dinner sounds good at Ruby Tuesday's. I don't have Beth on facebook so thanks for the information on her.

Sorry have to run.....

Morning Ladies:

I pray for Beth and her family. With God all things are possible. We are suppose to get a few more inches of snow today maybe 1-3 inches.

Ellen- Gla you got to enjoy time with your granddaughter. I was a little girl in 67 so I don't know the affects that the snow had then.

Some friends of ours took my hubby and I out for dinner last night we had a great time. I had fish and a baked potatoe and salad.

Toni- Glad you are able to get out. I can't wait until it is spring again.

Well off to gym I go. Have a great weekend.

Ate out Saturday night but I had grilled fisha nd green beans so I was good. Made veggie tray for super bowl and we ate that and then made no crust pizza.

Toni, OMG I am so sorry about your son. That was not the one that was in the army is it? Sending prayers for you and your family. Do they have children? it is the hardest thing to bury a child. I just can't imagine.

Ellen please keep us posted on Drew. Sending prayers for him also. I know what you mean when you say the grandkids wear you out. I love my GS but he does wear me out and you don't get anythig else done. I used to with my girls so I don't know what has happened. Maybe that potato messed up your BS.

Mercee, you are so right, God can do anything, we just have to ask and pray. Glad you had a good time with your friends.

It is coming down hard but not sticking to the streets yet. We missed the snow Friday and Sat so who knows. I am going to go to the grocery as soon as my DH gets home, everbody will be there getting milk and bread. I didn't walk on the :tread: this weekend so have to get back on there today.

TONI: Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your son. And so young! Praying for you and your whole family. ((hugs))

I just got in from water aerobics and running errands. I gave a lady a ride home since her car would not go, and she lives fairly close to me. We may try and walk together some. When I was getting a prescription filled I talked to the pharmacist about alternate meds. I may have to do more research then sit down with the doctor. I think part of my problem is the meds I am on. They are making my insulin resistance worse. Today, I started on a very carb restrictive diet to see if that will help. I just wish SOMETHING would work longer than a week.

Morning! I just finished breakfast- Non fat Greek yogurt with some Polaner raspberry and cocoa nibs, and a cup of espresso with a tad of cream. I am trying to cut out as many carbs as I can. I skipped the second dose of the med that causes weight gain last night, and this morning my bg was bad, but actually 40 points better than the day before, so I will try and get someplace to walk today- or I will bundle up and walk around here since the sun is at least out- and see if I can beat the bg down into submission. Gosh, I am tired of this.

Tomorrow is weigh in day. I have not been on the scale in a week. I hope its not a shock.

Thinking of Toni and Beth. My heart is heavy and sad for them both.

Good afternoon ladies. It's been a crazy day. I started some veggies for soup last night and totally forgot about it and this morning they were all dried up. Then I tried to make dressing with sn dried tomatoes. I had to boil them to make them soft and I don't think they emulsified as they were supposed to. We will see.

Walked 25 minutes yesterday with the end at 3.0 mph. I was glad. Not feeling on top of the world today so I hope I can get on later.

Ellen, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. Meds can realy mess up your body. Hope you can fix it.

I went to water aerobics this morning. Then, I took some frozen chicken broth to a friend who's little one is sick and she was out of chicken. Came home and ate a Trader Joe's mini pizza for lunch. The workout was tough and I felt like jello leaving the pool. Good. I needed it. I walked yesterday in the cold too, so I am proud of myself. I met a woman at the pool who lives not too far from me and she is looking for a walking buddy. We will try and find a large store close by to walk in when its too cold or rainy and meet there, or at a park if the weather is nice. If we walk together a couple times a week, that will be super for me. I like having someone to walk with- it goes much faster!

They are predicting snow tonight- about an inch. Argh! I am SO ready for spring to get here. I feel totally unmotivated when its cold to do anything. I am astounded that I have made it to the pool all winter.

Thinking of Toni and Beth...I am assuming Toni is off to where ever Teddy lived. Not sure where that is.... And I know Drew's visitation is Thursday evening and the funeral is Friday. Beth was asking everyone to wear Bama shirts, or Sesame Street shirts, or red to the visitation and funeral. I am going to wear red tomorrow and Friday. I wish I was closer.

I need to go find a recipe to fix for tonight. We have potluck at church and I am planning on something with spinach. I have two bags of frozen chopped spinach. Maybe a souffle? Not sure....

:grouphug: Like Crystle, I find you all a blessing. Thanks for the encouragement and friendship you all give.

Hi ladies, went to lunch with my pain doc's wife today. We went to an expensive oyster bar and I got grilled fish and a salad. It came with huge steak fries and I didn't touch them. I would have rather gone to Red Lobster or something plain like that. But I let her pick. My only choices were somewhere I could get fish or chicken salad. They did have hot green tea so I drank that.

I just finished the :tread: 30 minutes today and 30 yesterday. So I am happy. I did weight today and I was up 1lb. Yesterday it was 3. I have not lost anything on this 2nd cycle of 17 days and I am ready to start the 3rd cycle on Friday. I get 1 glass of wine a day. I will not have it everyday but maybe a couple on the weekend. I may switch back to cycle 1 or 2 after I see how it goes.

Ellen, I am glad you found a walking partner. I hate walking by myself. Hope the exercise helps your BS.

Crystal, I am so glad that Beth's son donated his organs so others may live. What a wonderful tribute and I am sure Beth finds some comfort in that. We are expecting an 1" or less tonight.

Mercee, try to stay warm. I am so ready for summer. It is suppose to be in the 50's this weekend. You wouldn't think that warm but I am looking foward to it.

Woke up to an inch of snow. Thankfully, the roads are clear. It is kind of pretty- and thankfully without the inconvenience.

My morning bg was astronomical again. I am SO tired of this. I would love to just give up and forget it. I have friends who do this...they never check their bg, and eat whatever they like. I just can't do that. Which is probably why I am so frustrated with it. I am doing what I am supposed to, lost weight like they tell you too, and still I can't seem to get it into the 'target' range. In fact, its worse! ARGH!

I am meeting a friend for lunch today at an Indian place. Don't worry...I will be good. I will probably skip the rice. Then I am supposed to call my WA friend and work out a place to meet to walk. It has to be inside, so we are thinking maybe the Super Wal Mart close by.

Tonight, I am heading down to my neighbors for decaf tea. With her schedule and her newish job, we never get to see each other anymore. :(

Will check in later...

Hi ladies, I bagged up some old clothes today, we have 6 bags to go to the mission next week. Plus I need to make some room for my DH and family when they move in no telling when. Other than the dishes that is all I have done today except talk on the phone. I need to clean my bedrooma nd bathrooms. I was going to clean today and tonight but my GS is coming around 4:00 so I mightas well wait until he leaves. Probably finish it tomorrow.

Ellen, sorry you are having such a hard time. I wish you could figure out something to do. Enjoy your time with your neighbor and walking buddy.

To everyone else, Catch you tomorrow.

I was really really hoping to reach goal this week but I'll take the one pound loss. I am only one pound from goal. :)

Solly...sounds like you are making awesome choices. The weight will start flying off again soon. The activity is going to make a difference. I think some times when we start working out we get a little water weight until we adjust an then it flies off.

Ellen...so sorry about your bs. My sister had horrible numbers that they couldn't get stable. She lost weight but it wasn't until this last 20 pounds that the sugar started leveling out. But she also takes a ton of medicine. Pills and shots. I bet the snow is pretty.

Mercee...hope you are staying warm.

Beth and Toni...((((hugsss))))

Love and hugs,
Crystle

COUNTRY: Thanks for sharing about your sister. It actually helps to know I am not the only one with this problem. I will work extra hard at losing more...maybe that is what I need more than anything else! I am kind of leaning towards going back to the vegan diet as that is what I lost 30 pounds on...you know?

Morning! I walked with my new walking buddy yesterday. We went farther than I have been going, and it went so fast. We have so much to talk about since we are just getting to know each other. It was great.

My morning bg level was a bit better, but still WAY too high. I am still hating this...still frustrated.

Yesterday Tom went to my Applied Kinseologist Chiro for the first time. She told him he needed to be off gluten! I was actually glad to hear that. It forces me to go back to it too. I felt better and had better bg numbers now that I think about it when I was off gluten. Today, I am going to try to eat my gluten free, vegan stuff and hope that I see improvements....
I really want to eat the right stuff...I just don't know what it is!!!!

Have a good weekend, everyone.

Went and walked with my walking buddy this afternoon. We went even farther...hardly felt like any time at all!

Tonight for dinner I made tortilla soup using the young chef's recipe that is working with me on the cooking class at church. Its SO yummy and easy! I ate two bowls and feel totally stuffed!

At Wal Mart I found a package of protein bars I am going to try eating for breakfast. I hope its enough. Breakfast without eggs or gluten is pretty hard.

Off to chill...

TONI: Thinking of you ...praying for you.

BETH: Thinking of you and praying for you too.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My prize for Valentine's day was making goal. :) My sweetie got me a new walking video and some workout clothes. We also went to the flea market and I found a cute pair of jeans for one dollar and a denim shirt/jacket that was only 50 cents. I love a good bargain.

((Everybody))

Hope this is the start of a good week.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who are going through the valley right now.

Love and hugs,

Hope I can get it together today. My wonderful Steve has been doing everything from cooking to laundry. I'm so lucky to have him. I'm trying hard to pick up the pieces. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers and just being here.

Crystle- I'm so darn happy for you. You're such an inspiration. I hope to get back to losing weight soon.

Ellen- Glad you got a walking buddy. I just don't how you can do gluten free. It looks so hard. And without eggs, wow. I admire your determination. Lucky Tom.

Solly- How is the 17 Day Diet going. Hopefully when we shop again I'll be ready to start again. You're doing great on the exercise.

Well Happy Valentines to you all.....

Ellen- It is great when you have a walking buddy I can't wait until spring is here and I can start walking outside again with my neice who is my walking buddy. My hubby goes to the gym with me so I still have a buddy year round. Wishing you the best as you go vegan again.

Crystle-Congrats for getting to GOAL what an amazing accomplishment.

I went to my grandson's school this morning for their Valentine Dance. (his mom can't get off on Mondays at all) I got him to slow dance with me for the two of them by just carrying him. He laid his head on my shoulder and it was so totally sweet!

I came home via the store, and forgot to get milk. Did not realize it until late. grrr. We have small group tonight and Tom is leading. I guess I will run by Trader Joe's on the way home for a gallon. I took soup to a young mom from church. She is sick with a horrible cold, has two little boys and is pregnant. She said she is going to fix the soup for dinner instead of the jambalaya she had promised her husband. I know him and he will be glad she did the easy soup instead!

I need to head down and make some enchiladas for dinner. Then we will need to eat and run.

Good evening ladies. It was a busy weekend with my GS here and my daughters and I shopped some on Sat and yesterday we 4 went to Bass Pro to get my DH some shoes for work and my SIL got some jeans. I have been busy trying to straighten up and swiffer some after the little guy left. Kids can destroy a house. I am going with my BF tomorrow for my birthday lunch. She can't go on Wed and I have bunco that evening anyway.

Ellen, awalking buddy can make you walk so much longer. DH and I walked today and we were not going to walk so far but ended up going to the pond and walking 35 minutes. It is so much better than the :tread: Good job.

Toni, glad to see you are back. I twill be hard for awhile. Any time you need to talk, we are all here listening. Diet is going ok except we got a new scale and it has me 12 lbs more, but I think it is right as DH weighed on it and it was what he weighed at work on BIG scales. Just start over and you can do it.

Crystal, was a Valentine's prize you got. Congratulatins you deserve it. I was hoping you were going to wait for me though, ha-ha. Nothing better than a bargbain that's for sure.

Mercee, the diet is similar to SB. Except you change up gthe food every 17 days. The first cycle is mostly protein and 2 fruits and 2 probiotics a day. Then you add some starchy carbs on cycle 2 & they have to be eaten befoe 2. Cycle 3 you get most everything back including bread and you can eat it at night too plus some ice cream and popcorn and 1 drink a day. I am at cycle 3 but think I will go back to 2 for awhile to see if I can get some more wt off. Cycle 4 you can eat out 3 times a weekend. That's where I want to be, diet during the week and eat on the weekends in moderation. The idea is to keep your metabolism guessing with the changes in foods.

It was very windy today but supposed to warm up each day this week so we will be walking outside.

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's day.

Morning! Yesterday was way too busy! Today may not be much better. I am heading out to a chiro appt in a bit, then I am supposed to head over and have lunch with a young friend. She lives kind of near the chiro....both of them are kind of far away. After yesterdays go go go, I would love to just come home after the chiro appt. and chill. Tom has a meeting tonight and won't be home until later, so I don't even need to fix dinner. Sweet!

The weather seems to be warming up finally! Yesterday was pretty nice. Today is supposed to be too. I am loving the sunshine!

Good morning. Its a beautiful day in the Ozarks today. Was watching the little birds play and eat. I love this sunny weather. Going to call and get me a hair cut appointment. I look awful. Not that I care right now. Steve is still cooking for us so eating has been what ever he makes. Which hasn't been to bad. Just found out my step daughter and her family are coming next month. Wish they would have waited till April or May.

Ellen- Sounds like you're headed for a good day. I hope your Chiro appointment goes good. And you have a nice time with your friend.

Solly- I got a new scale too and it had me weighing heavier. I think its right too. My old one never matched the doctor's so maybe this one will be closer. Are you going to go back to cycle 1 after you're done with 3?

Mercee- I can't tell you how much all of your prayer mean to me. Sounds like you're still doing good.

Crystle- What a buy you got on the clothes. Way to go. That was a sweet thing for your hubby to get you for Valentines Day.

Off to finish my coffee. The days are passing so fast. I can't believe my child has been gone 1 week and 2 days.
