During my cardio one day I was thinking how interesting it would be to know how many minutes I exercise in the period of a month.

So I am posting my exercise minutes daily in this threat and you are welcome to keep your data here too, so we can keep ourselves motivated.

I started it last April and I was shocked to learn that in 3 weeks I worked out over 3,000 minutes!!!!

What a motivation!!!
It has helped me to keep going, because I want to see the minutes go up each day in this threat.

You can even break the months down and learn how many minutes you worked out each week (and use the info to analyze your weight loss in that period) or maybe after 12 months you could add all the numbers you’ve got monthly and see how many minutes you exercised during the whole year.

You don’t really have to post every day, as long as you keep track of the minutes from previous days and post it at once. It is up to you...

PS: On December 15th I will be going to Brazil on vacation and will be there until January 9th. So I wont be posting in that period (I don't think). I will try to exercise though - but it is my vacation and if I can’t do it I will not stress over it (or at least I will try - I am already freaking out about my weight gain and lack of exercise)


But I’ll be back on January... grrr.... it is so hard to get back in the groove, after you relax for a while...
But I’ve done it in the past 2 years and I’ll do it again!!!
I will need you guys to motivate me when I am back... Please come to my rescue!!!! :^:

Just did the Body Pump yesterday!!!
I was willing to get some cardio after work, but I worked from 7 am to 9h30pm (went to the gym at 5h45 am) and was exhausted by the time I left the office, and I was too tired to make it to the gym :(
oh well.... I guess it was a day off for cardio....
It would be ok with me but the only reason I really wanna had get that done is because I have a vacation coming up and God knows if I will be able to work out or not... plus... I know for sure I will not be controlling my eating....
But I still have 15 more days before leaving... so Let’s keep moving chicks!!! 1...2... 1...2... 1...2...

Bel - My knee is finally PERFECTLY healed! Woot! Actually, I've been able to up my mileage and running time and add in some Wii Dance Party action too;) I'm a bit jealous about your trip to BRAZIL...but at least one of us is going..lol! Have fun...you deserve it!:)

I figure I need to start checking in here for accountability. Only beginning week 2 of calorie counting and have been on and off - inconsistent - with exercise. I am not in shape at all, have no strength, no endurance but I need to start moving!

My current goal - to keep it realistic - is to just make sure I get my butt on my elliptical! I need to be doing this at least 4 to 5 times per week, at least 30 mins each. I don't even want to talk about distance, its enough if I get on there!

Today burned 392 calories - 35 minutes. I always feel like the calories burned should be higher when I get stop but at least I didn't sit on the couch for that thirty minutes.

Lets hope this thread keeps me motivated and I keep checking in here every day!

I am feeling terrible chicks: No exercise last Friday and went out to diner and ate waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too much....
Didn’t stop there... Saturday had a party at a friends house and was soooo embarrassed,,,, I ate so much that I got sick... It was the first time in my life that something like that happened! I was out of control! My stomach seemed like was going to explode. I was visually bloated and in so much pain... I tried to throw up but could not do it (How people with bulimia do that?)
Anyway... Sunday wasn’t a good day either... I binged several times/day. I thought that after feeling painfully sick Saturday I would learn my lesson and would not binge again.... boy, I was so wrong... I am disgusted with myself...
and now my vacation is coming and I know I have no control once I have no routine to follow... Last year, I gained 20 (TWENTY) pounds in a bit more than 2 weeks! and took me so long to lose those pounds... This time I will be on vacation for over 3 weeks... I will explode!!! I am so concerned about it that sometimes I few like I wish I didn’t have this vacation....
Boy, don't I have a problem??!?! I wonder what is it that will take to beat this addiction to food...
Sorry to vent... but I have no one else to talk about it... I am so embarrassed!!!

Bel, feel free to vent and I totally know what you mean. It is awful battling a food addiction.

I get like that too and have been really bad the last couple weeks. Since I wasn't working out, I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted. Not good and it is such a hard habit to break.

Wow Bel...I'm really proud of you for being brave enough to come here to tell your story:) I know that most people (including myself in the past) when they think of "food addiction" picture someone of MASSIVE size and weight....not someone weighing in at 120, 130 or even 140 lbs!:o

The truth is...food addiction can happen to anyone, of any size, shape, color or nationality.

That said, most food addictions refer to a person's "relationship" with food. They see food as "comfort" and often use it to mask "pain".

What your reasons are only YOU know, but what I can tell you is that you may want to try to change the way you see food. One way may be to ALLOW yourself one FREE meal per week. This is ONE MEAL...not ONE DAY..LOL! Your meal will not weigh more than 17 ounces...but it can be any FOOD, not junk like 17 oz of snicker bars, that you desire (ie., pizza, mexican, taco salads, etc.). This may help to keep you from feeling deprived and thereby get overexcited when food opportunities come your way...cuz then you'll think, "eeehhhh...in a few more days I can eat whatever I want so it's no biggie to turn this down...."

Also, you exercise quite a bit. That's great that you CAN do so much...I admire your youth! lol.. But the bad side of doing so much is that your body gets used to it and doesn't give you the "full benefit" of your hard work. I think the key is learning "moderation" in your habits...that would encompass both food and exercise.

VACATION - Enjoy your vacation...otherwise I'll ask that you send ME your tickets!:p Just remember to ALLOW yourself anything you want for ONE MEAL per week...and I think that may help you take the anxiety out of the naughty foods that will be thrown at you.

Take care love...and I hope you feel better...tomorrow is another day and uhhhhh....you worked out for almost 3 HOURS on Saturday...that more than made up for Friday..tee hee...so don't beat yourself up...you exercise DIVA!:)

Hi Joyfulloser,

Thank you for your words... At this point I am listening to any advice, since I have no idea whatelse I can do to straight my eating habits...
The thing with me is that I am able to keep myself OP during the week days, when I am following a schedule. But whenever I get to the weekend (which I allow myself to be days of cheat) and put some “bad” foods on my mouth it starts my binge episodes... I have no control once I have the first bite... And the only way I can keep my eating clean during the week is promising myself I will be able to eat of plan on weekends.... I think my problems are anxiety and boredom! This combination is killing me....
I I already tried few types of anxiety pills and they done NOTHING to me...
The only thing I know is that I do have to do something SOON and I will, when I get back from my vacation...
While I am there I’ll try not really think about it and will just enjoy my time with my family. It is the only time a year I have to see them and I don;t want to ruin it with my food issues...
I do have a “plan” though, but it will only avoid a total disaster (if I am able to stick with it - which I WILL!!!!).
Well, I have only 3 more days of exercise before I leave.... Hope you guys keep this thread alive while I am gone... I’ll be starting a new one in January and I’ll have tons of exercise to do then....

belezura, can I ask what plan you follow in general?
This may not help you at all, but just like yourself I have been battling food addiction for longer than I would like to think about.
The "solution" (I say solution, but as I'm very much in the process of changing I can't say 100% that "this is it", but I FEEL it is) for me was actually pretty simple, and so far it has worked like a charm.
Just to give you a bit of background I used to be bulimic for many years, and I just couldn't get out of that need to eat absolutely anything that wasn't nailed down pretty much, including things I found disgusting. Yeah, not very attractive but hey.
I count calories for accountability, but that has nothing to do with controlling the binge urges. The only way I have found to keep to my eating plan is to:
*cut out all sweets, crisps, ice cream and cakes. Basically my old binge foods.
*never have a day off. If I allow myself a "day off" I NEVER stop there. NEVER. I always want more of the bad stuff and the big portions.

So to sum it up - don't even go there!

Well, that has worked for me so far anyway.

I'm also wondering if maybe with your very long workouts your body is starting to panic a bit? How much would you say you consume on a regular day? I think it's really important to be kind to your body and give back (proper nutrition) some if you work out really hard. Now I'm not an expert, but it seems to make sense to me? I think weightloss is more than a number game, although it would be nice if it was.

Finally, you had a set back. Dust yourself off and get back on track. Do it NOW and you are looking at a couple of bad days and no more. Take a step back and try to see what emotions caused you to over eat, and see this as a valuable lesson, not a failure.

I'm really terrible at these accountability logs. I'm realizing that one of the reasons I'm struggling so much with my weight loss efforts is that I'm not disciplined enough! So, I'm trying to join in, here. :)

8 -- Spin class, 30 minutes. I was so sore I couldn't even walk properly for 4 days! But, I walked almost every day between the 9th and the 14th. 30 minutes or so a day, sometimes more, sometimes less.
15 -- One hour spin class! Made it through the whole 60 minutes!
16 -- 0 minutes today. I'm working myself up to 3 days a week of good exercise -- MWSa -- before adding days and minutes.

WOW...I feel soooo totallly left out...what is this "Spin" class that everyone seems to LOVE so much? Is it a stationary bike and you peddle real fast? If so, doesn't that little bike seat hurt your butts? Please explain what this is...I want INNNNNNNNN!!!!:p

December 16 (Thursday) - Snowed in...ate 2 slices of digiorno 3 meat pizza (and it was totally delishous)...no exercise:( Donno what happened, I always make this pizza for my daughter and resist temptation, but last night...for some reason...although I could've resisted, I just didn't WANT TO! I knew if I didn't have at least one slice, I would go to sleep and DREAM about it...so I decided...eh...what the heck...and had 2 slices...but I stopped there...was satisfied...not bloated...not even feeling guilty as I knew that today, I'd be back on track. That said, I'm avoiding the scale for a few days as here's the nutritional breakdown for that little cheat:

Fat: 15 g
Sat: 5 g
Sodium: 1,200 mgs - WHOA!!!!:o Can I say water retention? LOL

Knowing how my body operates, I am sure I would not be able to :). I feel sluggish when I don't work out. Thanks for the push though. By the way...are you Jamaican? I saw ur post the other day about curry chicken and rice and cabbage.......:)

sigh, I have not done hardly anything since I hurt my leg in November. I haven't been motivated enough to actually go out and do my water aerobics. My leg was hurting too much to walk or really do much at all.

Over Christmas I finally put it together that the reason I have been feeling crappy and have been having more headaches is that I was eating junk and not exercising. So I started walking again. My beagle is needing walking anyway since he needs to lose weight. I walked him down to the vet yesterday which was an hour round trip. He gained 4 pounds in December so we will be doing more walking.

Anyway, am only at 208 minutes of exercise for December. Am heading out in a few moments to go take the dogs on a walk. I had to laugh because yesterday when I took them on a walk, as soon as we got home they both headed for the couch and crashed for the whole afternoon! Good way to wear out active beagles!
