I've noticed that as I start to lose a bit, it seems to have a trickle down effect where my face and shoulders are noticeably thinner but my stomach and hips are around the same size. I feel like I have this weird melting look and my tummy rolls are more noticeable because my top half is thinner. People have even commented that they can see my weight loss in my face and upper body.
Am I a freak of nature or has this happened to anyone else? More importantly, does it go away? I'm not a fan of this weird new bell shape I have going on.
I have the incredibly shrinking, neck, shoulders and chest area. However, I still have a lot of hip, leg and butt fat. It is really freaky. I keep hoping that after I have lost the weight and things start to "settle" that everything will even out. From your picture, I can tell that I am a lot older than you. I thought it was only because I am an old lady and lost my facial fat, but I guess this must span the age groups.
Best wishes and hopefully it will even out for both of us. ((hugs))

Yes! This is just the way it works sadly =( I can't wait to lose this damn tummy! I know that I'll have a muffin top and it will be the last to go but I'd rather have that lower belly fat than a big old round belly!
you are not alone!!!
first to go for me is around the waist...
then the face and neck...
followed by the arms...
and lastly, my lower half.
most of my weight are in my thighs and calves but at least i'm losing the belly pouch i've been carrying for years! i only wish the legs would start losing too.
While fat goes off my face first (and back on last), I'd say that this time I'm losing from the outside in: My face is definitely slimmer, it's very nearly Slim; but my legs are also losing and toning. So the weightloss is creeping down from my head, up from my ankles, and had yet to impact seriously on my applemiddle.
Apple here. I've noticed every time I start walking again, I lose and tone from my ankles up. Sometimes I don't even realize there's anything there to lose until it starts getting slimmer.
I've heard, and it's true for me, that we lose in the reverse order of the way we gained it. All my weight went to my rear at my high weight, like it had no other place to go. That's where it all came off first, which was just fine by me!! I've had thick calves and thighs my entire life (even when thin) and I have yet to see much progress there.

This has been true for me as well. I'm an hourglass/pear, and the first place I lost weight was my tummy. But that is also where I put the majority of my last 20 lbs. I think it just depends on how your body is wired.
I'm the opposite. Before when I was smaller I was always an hourglass shape. However, now I've lost mostly from my butt/thighs so I'm starting to look a lot like dolly parton! I'm nursing, though, so I think that does play a pretty big role. I keep wondering how much weight is caught up in my chest and if that's only go to go away once I wean? I know I've lost some in my face/arms but it doesn't seem like a huge amount and I sure would love to see more of the belly fat go too but it has made some progress at least.

This is true for me too. I am an hourglass shape and have lost most of my weight from my stomach so far which is where 2 kids have deposited it. I've definitely got weight other places, but this is the most recent place I've gained it.
I always lose weight first from my waist. I have an hourglass shape, don't know if that makes any difference. I've been doing so much exercise that my hips are starting to tighten up and in, which has the lovely effect of making my saddlebags look even bigger, and believe me they are already BIG. As my physical therapist told me before "it's a process" LOL.
